Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to the Empty Netters podcast. Can you believe what this has become? There was a full 48 hours where I felt like I was like literally Superman. Jumbo loves playing Fortnite, so he gets on the sticks. Did TR show you the sauna cycle or was that all year? Not I invented that. Almost a year now that I haven't taken a body check. That's kind of nice.
Starting point is 00:00:20 So we are back. We are horned up and we are going deep. Finish tonight with some chicken fingers and a few guineasas and ran into you guys. That's where this pod came to life. is ready and we are live. I think so. It's always a little delay.
Starting point is 00:00:35 I never know yet. It's going to come on in a second, hopefully. You just interrupted my whole thing. We hope we're live. We hope we're live. Well, we're live with another episode of the MTV news news podcast brought to you by BetMGM.
Starting point is 00:00:45 We are here. Boots on the ground in Milan. We just watched four unbelievable games in the quarterfinals of the men's tournament and two, make it three. Barnburner overtime tilts.
Starting point is 00:01:00 Oh my God, dude. That had the blood pressure through the fucking roof for so many fan bases. We started out with Canada, absolutely out of control. Truly one of the biggest catastrophes that could have been that has ever happened in the hockey world. Then Finland, out of nowhere, the Swiss team coming through, hashtag for Kevin. Almost had an upset shutout against the Finns. The Swiss team was just buzzing around. and then USA Sweden
Starting point is 00:01:28 capped it off for a night of true insanity three straight overtime games. Holy fucking shit. Dude. CP, we are here. We were just ripping it at the hockey Canada house here in Milan, boots on the ground, as I said, with a ton of the team Canada family, tons of other fans and people.
Starting point is 00:01:46 We were hanging out with Seth Jarvis's buddies the good old Canada boys earlier today. It has been a day full of hockey. Here we are ready to rock after watching four unbelievable games. at the Olympics in Milano Cortina. How are you feeling? The quarterfinals, sometimes the semis,
Starting point is 00:02:03 but the quarterfinals in pretty much any big bracket tournament. I'm talking March Madness. I'm talking Champions League, Olympics. The quarterfinals can actually be the best day because you have, you've eliminated, you've got some of the best teams, and you've got a full slate of games. Because the championship, you know, you hope for a great game.
Starting point is 00:02:21 The Super Bowl's fun, but it's like, it's one game. Whereas the quarterfinals, you can truly get a run of just, incredible, incredible sport. For sure. And that first game, which we'll get into, the Germany,
Starting point is 00:02:30 Selewaukee game, was a little bit like chalk, whatever. And then as you said, after that, I mean, this is the dream. This is the dream, let's ignore the injuries for a second.
Starting point is 00:02:38 This is the dream of, that is the Olympic hockey, where they go, here's your quarterfinals, top eight teams in the country, absolute O.T. Tilts. Everyone puking in the streets
Starting point is 00:02:48 from stress. For sure. That was, I mean, I'm still reeling. I'm still reeling from that day. Oh, me, 100%.
Starting point is 00:02:56 It's actually. actually crazy when you think about it. Like, today went chalk, right? Like, it's a day of chalk. Yes. But the games were insane. And this is what I'm going to say. And I don't mean to be, I don't mean to be that guy. But I'm sorry, if you're watching any coverage right now that is not people who are here enjoying it, you're missing out, turn it off and turn this on because it's so different. Oh, my God. Like, you can be watching at home in the States right now and pretending like, oh, I'm so dialed in the Olympics. No, you're not. You're not. You're not. because it is so fucking different here.
Starting point is 00:03:29 The atmosphere here, being here in Milan, having the opportunity to be here with the families, with the fans, with the athletes, because that's the thing, right? Like when we're at Canada House and it's all the other athletes who have just won gold medals who are there, who have been in the village,
Starting point is 00:03:45 who have been around with these other athletes who are in the environment, experiencing it with them, you can't feel the atmosphere that we are feeling. This is the shit. Even in it in. emissions. They put on the speed skating, right? And the Canada's winning golden speed skating. Whole place is rocking. People screaming, cheers. Then their families come in. The team wins.
Starting point is 00:04:04 The team comes in. Like, it's, it's, it's, you are in the mixer. Oh, it's incredible. It's, like, I'm, like, there's part of me that's laughing at, like, people, I'm not laughing at, but it's like, I respect so much everyone who's, like, back in the States right now, trying to watch these games at, like, 4 p.m. Eastern time. Yeah. Like, you were fucking legends back on the East Coast. watching the end, like West Coast watching these games trying to dial in. It is, and I'm just saying, I'm trying to express to you, the environment here is so palpable. It's so electric. And, and I want to be able to give that to you right now, because every one of you on the East Coast tapping in right now, watching and getting invested, you are the real ones. Like, it's like you're, you're getting into the Olympic environment and the atmosphere in the best way. It's amazing. But we are here and it is unbelievable what's going on. First game, quickly. Slovakia is fucking real world.
Starting point is 00:05:02 I have two things to say about the first game. One, I want to, and it's, I wish we hadn't waited so long to do this. Too little, too late, and I apologize. But I wanted to just give some stick taps to Germany because I thought they actually had, and I guess their record is probably would they go two and one, what they go one and two in the group stage? I think one of the Zipers win their preliminary and then get out. So they go two and three. It's not like they put on a bloodbath beat down of people. But I just thought Germany, who is a very top heavy team, played really well. I thought Germany had a great tournament. And they got run here and that sucks. But I just wanted to, I didn't want their Olympic run to end without me going Germany, good job. Because that was fun. It was actually really fun. Also, Chris, every one of the NHL players played great. Yeah. Like everyone was great. Leon played so well. dealt with the chirps from the Kachuk brothers and just can, you know, continue to do what he does, as he always does. I thought it was, we saw a couple of cool moments. Tim Stutzla had a great salute to the fans at the end of the game.
Starting point is 00:06:07 He had a big smile on his face. And that's what the Olympics are all about. And I feel like I kind of saw that look on Stutzla's face. Like he was just like, yeah, are we eliminated? Sure. But was this one of the best experiences of my life? Yes. And they won an elimination game.
Starting point is 00:06:22 Yep. They, you know, like, that's, that's great stuff. The fans, yeah. I loved what Germany did. Yep. And then, dude, to move it to the Slovakian team, I, when we got here, we landed, bang. We go right to, um, we go right to the Bauer event, okay? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:37 We posted up there all day and we're jet lag. I don't know what's going on. And we walk in and Slovakia, Finland is on the jumbo tron, the huge screen. And I forget it was scoreboats, but Slovakia's running them. And I gasped. and went, wow, nightmare. I kind of forgot everyone gets through, but I was like, nightmare start for Finland.
Starting point is 00:06:56 This is a disaster. You're losing to Slovakia, puke. And, dude, the Slovakian team never flinched from that moment. And I know they lost Sweden, but Sweden really found their game, which will obviously get into, but Sweden played great to beat them. Jesus Christ, Christ.
Starting point is 00:07:11 And Slovakia scored a power play goal when they needed it to win that group, deservingly won that group. Dude, who is on this team? You look at this roster, you look at the other rosters here. Look at Finland. roster, look at Sweden's roster, obviously Canada,
Starting point is 00:07:24 the U.S., look at the Czech roster. I look at this locking team and I'm like, you, what is going on? Who gives you the right? Who gives you the right to do this? And they go, we do. We make the rules up in this pitch because we brought a team that is cohesive and played together and all
Starting point is 00:07:40 that mumbo-jumbo, but they are delivering on that rant in the biggest way, dude. They look fucking legit. The Slovaks are, they're so good together. They're such a great team. And everyone's been talking about Slavkovsky. Yep.
Starting point is 00:07:54 And I don't know if anyone has seen the clip of Slavkosky against the Germans tonight. He's carrying the puck up ice in the D zone. And he comes up one-on-one in a just run-of-play moment, 5-5-5 against Leon Drysidal. And he fucking puts on the brakes, does a little spinnerama 360, protects the puck with one hand on the stick, spins around Leon with that big fucking burger flipper, poking it out, trying to get the puck. And Slav just spins away. from him and comes up ice. And that, I think we tweeted that with something like, oh, he's feeling himself. And he is. And that's the type of play. That's when you're, we call it vibing. Yes. When you're vibing on the ice, you're feeling yourself and you try some shit.
Starting point is 00:08:38 And Slavkovsky is feeling himself. And I'm telling you, this type of stuff, this tournament is why he was picked where he was. This is why he's the player that the Canadians believe he is. And it's so exciting to see and it's been so fun seeing people online and people here the Slovak's here going this, we know this guy. This is the guy that we know. We're behind him. He's fucking buzzing.
Starting point is 00:09:02 It's so great to see. But I want to shout at Dvorsky. Dvorsky 20 year old blues player. He's been unbelievable. Some great stuff here. He is the youngest Slovak ever to have a four game point streak at Olympics with NHL participation. Damn. He's also
Starting point is 00:09:18 his six points are the most by any blues player who has ever been at the Olympics for the NHL. That's awesome. Unbelievable. This kid's 20 years old. God, dude. Had a point in the game tonight, he's been fucking all over the place. And it's just like, I love it.
Starting point is 00:09:35 This is the best part about, it's like the World Cup, it's the Olympics. And when you get group team, you know, team sports here, where you have club stuff like the NHL, when you get these players who play together, and we're used to it, right? We're used to it with certain nations. but seeing the Slovakia team fucking ripping together every game. I mean, it's like what, they've had one game where I was like, oh yeah, they lost this game. They didn't look that insane.
Starting point is 00:10:00 And it feels like every other game, people have been like, oh shit. Damn, they're pretty good. Slovak teams fucking clapping cheeks here. Playing the bongo drums. Dude, I have more to say about this next round with them, so I'm going to save it. But yes, they have been easily, easily the surprise of the tournament where you go, who's, so much deeper than you ever expected. Who won Groups you didn't expect? Slovakia, Slovakia, Slovakia.
Starting point is 00:10:23 Answer to every question. Absolutely surprise. Chris. Okay. So I want to go to the Finland game. First, I'm going to read this bet MGM ad. Here we go. Live read. Live read, folks. Strap the fuck in.

Starting point is 00:11:01 And you will get up to $1,500 in a new player offer on your first wager if it loses. How about that? That's pretty incredible. That's actually pretty sick. BetM-GM, make it legendary. Make it legendary. Let's get into a legendary game. Swiss.
Starting point is 00:11:15 Hey, Chris, quick. Hashtag. For Kevin. For Kevin. Oh, dude. I'm actually... Here's the thing. Finland, can we talk about this, Ron? Yes. The Swiss team... And I'm actually now so crushed. We never saw a Swiss game live.
Starting point is 00:11:34 Because J.D. even said the Swiss fans were just all time, all time. They've been all time. So close. So close to here. They love hockey. He's just like, I needed to get to a Swiss game. I'm crushed for them. Finland is a proud hockey name. nation. I know they wanted to have a good tournament. I know they felt disappointed at foreign nations. But then they come in here without Barkoff and you just write them off. At least I did. I go, you are not a factor in this, in this actually. You'll play and you'll do the hockey, but you were
Starting point is 00:12:04 not a factor in this tournament. I'm going to do that hockey without Barkoff because you weren't a factor in Four Nations really and then you lose your best player. So I'm very happy for Finland truly. Yeah. But as the Swiss was going on this run, when they lose Kevin, you go, it's over. It's completely over. Your tournament is done. And then it is not done. And when we tune in, because the Canada game was on, right, they were going double trouble, double trouble, double trouble. The Canada game's on. We're trying to tune into the Swiss game, but we're in the Canada house. So it's like wall to wall to wall TV. I can't go, excuse me, we pop Finland, put Finland on, little split screen action, a little picture in picture. PIP? Wrong. So by the time it gets on,
Starting point is 00:12:46 And we're on the phones. We're on the phones, obviously. But the time it gets on, it's two nothing. And I'm like, holy hell, dude. Can you imagine? And then, dude, the Canada game ends. And we're watching the Swiss game. And we're going no audio.
Starting point is 00:13:01 We're going fucking no audio. That was utterly insane. And I'm like, okay. But there was kind of a reason. We had speed skating going on and there were Canadians. There was a lot of shit happening. Yeah. But we go in no audio.
Starting point is 00:13:14 So I'm sitting here. I brought my computer like a fucking nerd. I literally had my computer out doing work like a nerd in the middle of the Canada. That was tough. But I got shit to do. I got shit to do. So I'm working and then I'm watching.
Starting point is 00:13:26 It's over my shoulder. So I'm working, I'm watching. I'm working, I'm watching. Canada's pouring in. The families are pouring in. I'm hugging and kissing babies, hugging wives. Everybody's happy. Everybody's celebrating.
Starting point is 00:13:34 I'm trying to watch the fucking third period. I look up, boom, 2-1. Didn't even hear it. Didn't even see it. Didn't know what was going on. Yeah, brutal. And I'm like, can we turn it? Can we rewind?
Starting point is 00:13:41 They go, no, we're illegally streaming this or some shit. I don't want to get any in trouble, but I don't know if you know how the fuck those games are on in there. So we're trying to watch. Shadow Canada, CBC gem. Yeah, actually, yeah, that's what it is. That's what I'm getting on my phone.
Starting point is 00:13:52 No one else in this country besides me and Canada is getting this shit right now. Only you, dude. So we can't rewind and I go all good. So we go all good. We're going to watch the end here. And I'm watching the end and we go, uh,
Starting point is 00:14:07 Granny, like three straight chances right from the slot. One might, I think it may be knobbed, but three straight chances it's incredible and I thought to myself in that moment I'm sick because I'm happy that Swiss are going to do this
Starting point is 00:14:23 but I wish they had just kind of kept chipping it out kept chipping it out I hate that granny's gonna go home and go man I was in the slot three straight times the way you viscerally reacted to that like it was like you're right you were right like it was like the captain it was like it's just like is that going to be the way it goes down
Starting point is 00:14:40 this is how he has to end his Olympics And then boys, they go, cut feed. Feed cut, boom. No more Swiss, no more Swiss Finland. And I go, what the fuck? And they go, well, sorry, we're trying to win a couple speed skating goals. We're in the Canada house. You're going to be watching that.
Starting point is 00:14:57 So I go, all right, hey, Red, pull up the phone. Get your fucking, what is it called? CBC Gem. I go, get the CBC gem cooking, baby. And Red goes, no problem. Okay, they go, incorrect. You can only watch Canada games on this. I go, oh, okay, well, let me see if I can get it.
Starting point is 00:15:14 I pull up the fucking score app, and it goes like this, tie game going overtime. And I'm like, what? Jesus Christ, dude. So now we're on Reddit, we're on Twitter, trying to find the goal. I think that Miro was the tying goal, right? That was the one that tied it. Goalie pull, I believe. Extra attacker swings across the top to Mero.
Starting point is 00:15:32 Mero was the tying goal, yeah. By the way, with like 1848 into the period, so like a minute 12. Yeah, yeah. Bull, rich shot, like low gloves, snip, job. So I'm like, holy shit, we missed that. So we pull up the feed and then we didn't know, or actually, I guess we did from the candy game, but I was like, oh, so we got to get this feed up because they're not going to cut the ice. Like, it's going to be a quick break and then we go. So then we're trying to get a feed up. I'm trying to get peacock going. And then I'm like, red, refresh, refresh, refresh,
Starting point is 00:16:01 and it goes, game's over. I'm like, Jesus Christ. So we're back on Reddit, back on Twitter, see the goal. Dude, I... Okay, so Swiss, I'm devastated. But you had a hell of a tournament. Hashtag for Kevin. What a run. I hate that they had to lose that way,
Starting point is 00:16:20 because, I mean, God, up to nothing. Was there five minutes left when they made it to one? I think it got as deep as five minutes, I think, if memory serves. It was 323. Jesus, even worse. I had used all my... You'll notice...
Starting point is 00:16:35 You'll notice my bracelet is missing the free drink tokens. I had used all of those by that time when we were deep in the game. So mine and Dan's also seemed to be gone. Would you look at that? There was a little thief running around in there, snatching tokens. Someone was snatched
Starting point is 00:16:52 because we weren't drinking the whole game. We didn't use any of. We didn't drink at all. So I'm devastated that it went that way for the Swiss. But that being said, Finland, dogs. Because this has been a Jekyll and Hyde tournament for them in my opinion. Oh, really? A little bit.
Starting point is 00:17:08 because I thought, I guess the Slovaks are just good, but I thought they didn't look that good in that game. Yeah. And then you lose, or I guess they pumped Italy. And they, yeah, and they won emphatically in Sweden. Yep. Who'd they beat in the prelim? I'm just, I'm confused by this take by you.
Starting point is 00:17:26 Well, I guess leaving the group stage, you feel Jekyll and Hyde, where you go, you got crushed by the Slovakia team. I mean, I don't, I got crushed. You got crushed. You won 11-0 against Italy, right? Yeah. You won 4-1 against Sweet. It was actually rude, to be honest.
Starting point is 00:17:41 Everyone else given Italy a good game. And Gold Diff didn't even matter. I thought Gold Diff mattered. So, end of the day, the real issue is your assholes. That's your problem. They're being dicks. They rip Italy. They stomp on Italy for no reason.
Starting point is 00:17:54 They beat their arch-rivals Sweden, which was rude. And then they lose to Szilacchia just to fuck the group up, which was rude to me. Your problem is that they're assholes. And then they fucking rip the Swiss's soul out like that. Unacceptable. Unacceptable. but they yeah but I'm glad like this is a cool moment I I hit as I said I wrote them off but coming in without barcoff and then finding yourself in a semi because you that you got it's you guys right Finland
Starting point is 00:18:22 Canada finding yourself in a semi final at the Olympics against Canada without bark off is a tremendous achievement when when Sweden's home and the checks are home and I'm like damn dude good job you know I I don't want to say I disagree like whenever you have bar, whenever you don't have bar, yeah, that's, to make it this far, that's amazing. But at the same time, I'm like, you're being a bitch, dude. What do you mean? You're, you're, you're being soft with this assessment of this team. Like, what have you been saying from the very beginning? There, they are, there are three teams in this tournament that
Starting point is 00:19:02 have all NHL players. And this team has all but one. But, and we're, and we're, we're, we're, we're shocked that they're one of the top four teams left? Well, we all, not read, because it was Evan, but we all did our who's the gold medal game, who's the bronze medal game? None of us had Finland in either of those games, not a one of us. So we, no one thought
Starting point is 00:19:23 that of two of us sitting here no one thought Finland was going to get in top four. Sure, but what you just said, that's wrong. What you just said was top three. No, no, we said who is in the bronze medal game? And you said Sweden beats, I think you said Germany or the checks. You said Sweden beats the checks. I don't think.
Starting point is 00:19:39 I think that that's true. I will pull up the YouTube right now. If anyone knows anything about this show, it's that Chris is never right when it comes to his memory. He's always wrong. Yep. Well, but my point is, dude, is like, you're, listen, I'm not, as I said from the beginning, that's a great achievement, but I'm not going to sit here and be like this. It's remarkable that Finland's in the top four teams. And in fact, going into this round, what did I say from the beginning? This is chalk. Yeah. Without Bart, like this, it's all been chalk. Have the games been crazy? Yes. But it's all chalk. So I'm not going to sit here and fucking prance around going,
Starting point is 00:20:13 oh my God, I can't believe Finland's in this game. I am. That's how I feel. And that's fine. But I'm saying you're wrong. I mean, literally statistically,
Starting point is 00:20:21 you're wrong. Like this was the chalk pick. Should Finland have beaten Switzerland in this game? Yes. Yes. So I'm not going to go, this is crazy. I am going to agree with you
Starting point is 00:20:32 in that the way they came back in that game so late. Oh, my God. It was insane. And I always love, again, I know that they're all NHL players, but the goals in this game being scored by fucking Sebastian Ahoh, Amiro Heskinen, and Arturi Lekan is just, like, that is just your fucking dog.
Starting point is 00:20:52 That's how you do it. It's just crazy when you open the fucking gate and the top dogs run out. That is what you want. And it's just amazing. And I just, before we get on to it, like, I'm saying this from as far as, as our fan bases, the big games here, we got to talk about Canada, USA. We're going to do that right now. But I just need to take a moment to talk about Lekin' it. Yeah, okay. This dude is so good at hockey and Colorado fans have just been for ages.
Starting point is 00:21:23 Hide them. No, no, not hiding. They've been like, why doesn't anyone talk about this guy? And good God Almighty, that OT goal, how crazy was it? Watching that game, like, we're sitting there, guys. Like, we're in, we're in Milan. We're at the Canada House. Canada has just won Everyone's losing their fucking mind And now it's just like Jesus Christ And we're barely surviving
Starting point is 00:21:44 Who are we playing next And then that game comes on And everyone's like Holy shit is Switzerland up to nothing And I think we tweeted Our account tweeted something like We're a little over two minutes From the first upset really of men's tournament
Starting point is 00:21:57 And then it was just like this Finland goal Finland goal Finland goal And it was like what the fuck is happening And like the fact that it was lecking in It was just like this dude these just showed up time and time again. So it's amazing.
Starting point is 00:22:10 I'm so pumped for them, dude. Yeah, I'm not trying to be like they're not good. I'm so pumped for them because they, they fucking earned this. Because on paper, Sweden's better than them, right? And on paper, well, I guess probably on paper, they're better than the checks, but the popular Vegas pick was Sweden and the checks.
Starting point is 00:22:27 And I will say this, and this isn't like any shit talk, this is just basics. When it was 2-0 Switzerland, you got to remember the reseeding folks, there was a situation there where Canada fans were going, holy fuck, we're about to play Switzerland.
Starting point is 00:22:43 Yeah, this is amazing. They were fired up. They were fired up for that. And then Finland came back and that was electric. All right. Here comes the meat and potatoes. Meat and potatoes of the game. All right, we're talking about some of our sponsors here

Starting point is 00:24:30 Great read, Dan. All right. Okay, Canada, bro. Holy shit. to get into Canada, check yeah. They had played before. Yep. It wasn't even close.
Starting point is 00:24:42 Yeah. Canada absolutely dominated. They come into this game and before the game we saw a lot of chit-chat. Yep. A lot of chit-chat, a lot of talk. We had some quotes from guys like David Pasternak, guys like Martin Natchez, and they were saying things like this, listen, you know, we let them win the first game. It's hard to win tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:24:57 Yeah, that was funny. He just had some great quotes. He was like, listen, we're going to get on them in the first period. We're going to go hard. We're going to go heavy. That was, that was, that was, sketch. So Mac scores immediately. What was it? Less than five minutes in the game. Maclin
Starting point is 00:25:12 Celebrini, here we go, he score. And the goat. CP, give us the stat. Oh my God, dude. So Mac became, Mac, well, did you say he did pass? Yeah, yeah. Oh, he did pass, pal. He did pass. And Mac has passed Malkin for the most points by a teenager in the NHL. I always love the Olympics where it's like NHL and not NHL. Maclin Celebrini currently in his Olympic debut has four games played. five goals, four assists for nine points at 19 years of age. Fgeny Malkin had seven points as a teenager in the NHL, in the Olympics, which was the record. Mack has now passed him.
Starting point is 00:25:47 Congratulations, my dog. He's going to finish in double digits. It's going to be ridiculous. Mac scores immediately, and it felt like here comes the route again. Only thing he couldn't do is let Connor McDavid and Macklin-Colabrini combine on a goal in the first five minutes. You are now fucked. It's going to be 10-0. Unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:26:03 Then, Czech gets one back. and you start to go, oh, interesting. At least there's a little bit of fun. It made it fun immediately. Yep. Instantly when Chequia scores, we were like, okay, this is going to be a little bit of a game here. And then...
Starting point is 00:26:16 And you had even said, Dan, you were like, man, pasta, I'd like to see pasta do something in this tournament. I was talking about a shit. Yep. Yeah. And then he fucking wired one. Dude, sometimes NHL guys hit one T's, and go watch that replay again.
Starting point is 00:26:29 That puck is all over the place on the way to him. It's fucking wobbling. It's bouncing. And he just catches it and, fucking murders that. It goes in and out so fast that you're like, what did that even hit in the net? I don't know what that feels like on his hands,
Starting point is 00:26:43 but it's something that I can't handle. My fragile frame can't handle. And anybody, we're going to get to Binner in a second, but anybody mad at Binner in that moment is more. Like these goals, this is not his fault. I don't even think that's worth saying because no one was.
Starting point is 00:26:57 We're going to get into Binner 2, had a chance to chat with him after the game. I mean, and it was the quickest chat in the world. at the end of the day, this dude is so locked in. He's so fucking amazing. He's such a wonderful human. Correct.
Starting point is 00:27:13 And the way he just seems so calm and focused, it's everything you want from your goaltender. So it's 2-1. It's going. We're into the second. It's 2-1. And I was scared because this, the game the Czech team was playing is who,
Starting point is 00:27:30 I think we all, but I certainly thought they were entering this tournament. So I'm like, obviously they wait till now to fucking drop this bomb on everybody. I mean, it was perfect. It felt like the perfect game plan. Yep. And that's a test. I think they probably would have been in anyway.
Starting point is 00:27:46 But that's a testament to, this has been so fun. I don't want to chirp the Olympics, but I've hated the format. I've hated the three groups, everybody in preliminary thing. Like this should have been four groups, top two teams are in, something to play for. So I've hated this, that it allowed you to kind of do whatever. Yeah. But yeah, the checks played with a little. bit of reckless abandon for the first few
Starting point is 00:28:05 the games and then it really fucking locked in. Sure. So I give them credit for that because I was like, okay. But then I started to get pissed because this shouldn't have been, if they were going to play this way, this shouldn't have been a quarterfinal game. This should be the semifinals. Honestly, the two games I just watched, I felt like should have been the two semifinal games.
Starting point is 00:28:22 And this is the same thing we bitch about with the NHL playoffs where I go Dallas, Colorado in the first fucking round. And people go, well, who cares? They got to play each other eventually anyway. And I'm like, yeah, but dude, It should be deeper. You should have enjoyed,
Starting point is 00:28:36 the fan base, you should have enjoyed these deeper runs. Sure. It's bullshit that the Czech team and the Sweden team go home with no chance at a medal because they, and they have only themselves to blame
Starting point is 00:28:45 because they fucked up in the group stage. Canada and US did their job, not 3 and 0, 9 points, how old is your mother. But this is what we were dealt with. And I said in one of our stories because people were beaking me, like, you're rooting for Canada?
Starting point is 00:28:57 And I was like, yes, dude, I want to see a Canada US final. I don't need them to go out. This red actually said it. best. It was after they won. He wasn't being negative during. If that Canada team loses that game, it is literally bad for the sport, literally. Because you go, this might not be Sid's last,
Starting point is 00:29:16 but this is maybe Sid's last Olympics, Dewey's last Olympics. It's Connor and Nate's first Olympics. It's Mac, it's the coming out party of the teenage phenom, Mack and Celibriini. And I go, that team got eighth. That is a fucking nightmare. It felt unthinkable. And it was like happening in front of our eyes. Regardless of how good Chequia is and they are very good.
Starting point is 00:29:40 And we've talked about it before. NACIS has been playing just like truly out of this world. Pasta is obviously pasta. Yep. Those still is so good in that. Yeah, I want to get to. This is a good team. This is a team that we all thought like a lot of us picked to be, you know,
Starting point is 00:29:56 top four or higher. But regardless of that, this is Canada. This is what many are calling the greatest Canadian. raster in 30 years. It would have been unthinkable. And sitting there watching, regardless of our relationships, whatever,
Starting point is 00:30:14 just as a hockey fan, it was like, holy shit. Oh my God. And I said to our friends, Johnny Lazz and Colby Cohen today, it was like, why you like the preliminary games is because you like the opportunity for upset. It's, you know, and when you like this, the first
Starting point is 00:30:30 round a couple days ago, it's like, you want maybe something to happen. Sure is. As we've said, it's only been chalk in the men's so far. And is that boring on paper? Sure. But have these games been boring? No.
Starting point is 00:30:43 And you want the opportunity for that to happen. And fuck me, buddy. Fuck me running. Was the entirety of this game like, oh, I don't care what the result was. This was electric. Yep. And it's like, yes, it was unthinkable in the moment of like, is this fucking seriously about to happen? But then as it went, it was just like,
Starting point is 00:31:03 even rooting for Canada. And I was, call me a fucking traitor. Oh my God, fuck that. I was rooting for, and I will continue to root for Canada. I was like,
Starting point is 00:31:12 oh my fucking God, this is unbelievable what I'm watching. And I was cocky. We were with, we were with all the families. Yeah. And, and, you know,
Starting point is 00:31:21 we were with all these amazing, you know, again, families of the players and just amazing Canadian people. I was trying to be the voice of reason. Like Red or, you know,
Starting point is 00:31:29 Canadian producer was like, silent. And he was, like, dude, you were like, he was like, you were the only thing keeping me going, because I was just like, there was so many times I was like, we're fine, we're fine, like, dude, how many fucking face-offs to check you in? They were literally all of them. They were insane.
Starting point is 00:31:45 Literally all of them. At the dot. They were out of, and they had a game plan. Like we said, Goudis talked about it. They doubled McDavid. Every time McDavid got the puck in the neutral zone, you saw someone bump him and then you saw a defenseman press up. That was a very well executed game plan.
Starting point is 00:32:01 they were sitting back and they got hemmed in sometimes but they weren't on their heels they were they were sitting back prepared to sit back scoop the puck out chip the puck out it was into the third period it was like this is kind of fucking working
Starting point is 00:32:17 and when they tied it to two two I was the one going dude listen you just can't keep up with Canada's weight you can't keep up with their speed this is going to be six two then the worst thing in the world happened okay yeah so at two
Starting point is 00:32:31 two with you, I felt completely confident. I know it was scary if you're, if you're rooting for it. But at two to, two, I felt like this is, we're going to laugh about this. Then the worst thing in the world happened. Um, Sydney Crosby gets hit and read what the first hit you saw, it's against the wall, right? Because I kind of saw the double team after, but he gets, he gets pinned up against the wall. And you saw a replay. I didn't see where it kind of looked like his leg bends. Yeah. But, but, but even before that, it's like Sid gets hit. And, but, he gets hit. And he gets hit. And he. He gets hit. He gets and then he goes off and then he comes
Starting point is 00:33:04 or he was either the same shift or the next shift but he's trying to go still there was two yeah and then he goes to push off and he immediately kind of like his leg flinches up he hobbles over to the bench
Starting point is 00:33:15 there's a few minutes left in the second he's you know talking to people on the bench eventually goes to the locker room and looks terrible well not terrible but looks not good going to the locker he's doing a waddle doing a waddle he's waddling he was doing the plank walk yeah it looks like there's a there's a steel rod down
Starting point is 00:33:31 like he was like waving the leg outwards, which always makes me nervous. We all go, it's going to be fine. We don't know anything. We've not heard anything, but I'm not. Then to start the third, they go announcement, start the third. Sid's not coming back. Cid's been rolled out. And by the way, and obviously they were losing draws before that, but that's when you lose a Sidney Crosby and you get murdered at the dot, look no further. Also, the lines, they got all fucked up. It felt very, I don't want to say panicky at all, because if there's anyone,
Starting point is 00:34:01 in the NHL that I know not to panic, it's coop. Correct. But it felt weird that it was just like, you know, Marner and Stone, SIDS's linemates. After that, it was just like, you're not playing. Dude, they played one shit. In the third period, it just felt like Connor Macklin and Mick Mack was out the whole game. Truly. The whole fucking game.
Starting point is 00:34:25 Yep. And there's one part of me that's like, yeah, I'd do the same thing. There's another part of me that's like, as we always say, when you look at the up and down that roster, don't panic. Everyone there can get it done. We were joking. Remember we were joking that Sid, or excuse me, the Mick Mac line is so good that I swear it makes the other guys on Canada think they're worse because that line is so much better than they're like, we're back. Just chip it in. Just chip it in. I'm like, you guys are good too.
Starting point is 00:34:54 Stop for lying so much on that top line. There was some stat that was like Canada's had 16 shots from the slot in this game. The 12 of them are from the Mick Mack line. And I'm like, everyone else is capable of doing that. Insane. So, Sid,
Starting point is 00:35:08 we don't know anything yet. It, let's move on here. Yeah, okay. That should bring you to talking about the man who fucking tied the game. Yeah. Who has to step up.
Starting point is 00:35:23 So I want to say this. Well, I think before we get to that, We got to talk about Pilat taking the lead. Yes. And I want to say this. When Sid got hurt, it was quiet. When Pilat took the lead, it was silent. It was utterly silent.
Starting point is 00:35:37 Because like I said, at a tie, I was like, this team is fine. Relax. Yep. But then Palat scores on a great, we'll get to it, guys. Don't worry. On a great rush. And the Canada House. Oh, dude.
Starting point is 00:35:51 You could hear. Not good. You could hear a silent but deadly fart. squeak out of the tight snare drum ass of a mouse crawling under the floor it was insane almost as insane as the fact that there were six men
Starting point is 00:36:08 on the ice for Chikia the entire fucking play if you guys haven't seen this go look at everything I don't know if you can maybe find a link to that tweet right and put it in the chat or maybe you can Dan it is nonsense
Starting point is 00:36:24 there guys again if you haven't seen it, go online. This fucking play where Chequia takes the lead. You're in the D zone for Chequia? There are six men on the ice. They get possession. They come up through the neutral zone. There are six men on the ice.
Starting point is 00:36:41 They get into the offensive zone. Beautiful drop past it a lot. Beautiful shot, beautiful goal. There are six men on the ice. In the goal celebration, there are six men on the ice. No one noticed it. I wonder the goal celebration.
Starting point is 00:36:54 Chris, this is Kaiser Sosey. This is. This is Andy Dufrane Walking with dress shoes Outside, out of the prison And on his way out How often do you look at a man's shoes? How often do you look at six men on the ice
Starting point is 00:37:06 When Canada's butt holes are as tight as a fucking chestnut? Dude, it's unbelievable He made a great point where he was like The rush went up He's like, I think everyone just was like Watching the rush, it was hard to look back The six, the camera shot of the six people in the cellie is high comedy It's so funny
Starting point is 00:37:23 Perfectly six I'm begging you watch this clip. They score. There are four guys against the board celebrating and then two come in. And like, it's so funny. Just no one noticed. What I need to know and we'll never know is did they realize? Like when they were going down the line where they like, oh shit, there were six of us out here.
Starting point is 00:37:43 I don't think so. I think everyone was so blackout. You could see the bench celebration. Yeah. Yeah. He was like, holy shit. Are we winning right now with less than 10 minutes left in the third period? That goal came late enough that I was like, oh, yo.
Starting point is 00:37:57 But I said it already, I will say it again. Thank God. Chequia did not win that game. Because if they had and that play had happened, I said this, the entire nation of Canada would be on Mooseback parading to the country of Italy to turn over this game. And they'd be justified. And they would be justified.
Starting point is 00:38:20 They would be justified. And I will say this also, Chechia, you played an amazing game. love every one of you from Chequia, but there are a lot of people complaining about the hook on Naches from Devon Taves at the end of the game when it was tied. They were like, they were like, Devon Taves was fucking dog sledding Martin Nach's. Guys, it was a one-handed slight hook. I wouldn't have even called it. And also, given what you got away with, six goals in the case.
Starting point is 00:38:43 You scored with six men on the high stick to hagle in the face and no one said anything. Eh, he might have gotten the puck. That would have been a such a stain on this tournament if that that. happened. I'm so glad it wasn't decided. Canada's been cheating left, right and center. They don't get called for any fucking penalties. Yeah. Okay, so then,
Starting point is 00:39:02 late. And it's like fucking the lines are jumbled. They're double shifts in everybody. It's chaos. Hey, ready. What did I say? What did I say about before three minutes? Oh, you did call it. Everyone's freaking out. And I went, I went, I get it. Canada will tie this game before the three minute mark.
Starting point is 00:39:20 Three minute 27 seconds. Who has the best shift? ever seen. Oh, dude, I'm an incredible one-man effort. I need people to understand that, dude, because that line was gassed. Go back and watch the replay from from about four and a half minutes to 327. Dude, and like you guys said, he could easily just chip that pocket in. Yep. He should have and changed. Everyone changed except for him. And he got it deep. The boy Zook, Nick Suzuki, has one of the best top to bottom 200 foot shifts you will ever see. Oh my God. He gets in, in the D zone, flying around being a true center, head on a swivel, getting every single bit of himself in the play.
Starting point is 00:40:02 And he has a play where he can easily chip the puck in deep. Gets the red line, gets it in. His entire line changes. And he goes, you know what? Just so they can't turn it around quick enough, I'm going to scoot by and just put some pressure on the D. Nope. He's battling in the corner, gets a stick on it, grinding, grinding. And now his team's out.
Starting point is 00:40:17 I'm like, now he'll go change. Nope. Fights to the front of the net. Puck comes up, high, low to high, bang, shot back in. I think maybe I forget who shot that one. And Suzuki fucking stick. It looked like, it looked like who's got that first USA goal.
Starting point is 00:40:31 It was like the same, that same. Dylan Larkin. Yeah. Super wide tip. Tip the blade down. Tip in. Redirect goal.
Starting point is 00:40:37 Game time. Tide game. And at that moment you went. It looked like Max goal. Yeah. And you went bang. Dude, I, I, the place went bananas, obviously.
Starting point is 00:40:46 Did you see, by the way, did you see Suzuki almost, they always opened the fucking side door. Devon Taves, by the way. It was Taze. Shot. Every time. someone scores, they open that little side door.
Starting point is 00:40:56 I did. He almost won ass up in. Through it. Dude, Suzuki almost fucking fell backwards through the gate. He's like, oh, fuck, catches an edge. That was incredible. But you can see the emotion on his face because there have been people online going, oh, when he's playing center and Nate's out there, he's dragging,
Starting point is 00:41:10 Nate's only been productive when he's up with the Mick Mac Mac when. Suzuki doesn't belong in this tournament. And he hears that shit, obviously. He's a fucking human being. Dude, the emotion was going to be there anyway. You just tied the game in a game saving quarterfinal Olympic moment. But he must have been fucking. busting through his cup.
Starting point is 00:41:25 He was so bricked up after that. And I couldn't be happy for him. Because that, and dude, you can see the fucking, I don't know who he hits at first, but when he comes to do the bench shake line, the first person he comes through, he like waxes the hand so hard. That got, I could not be happier for him, dude.
Starting point is 00:41:40 That was fucking sick. He's been having a great tournament, see him get on the board like that amazing. So obviously we mentioned, Nate just gets that breakaway, great save by Binner. And I will say, end of the third period. and into overtime, Jordan Bennington was out fucking of his mind.
Starting point is 00:41:59 Unconscious goaltending. The way he gets big, the way he could. There were a few great tick-tac-toe plays by Chequia, great passes into the slot, high danger chances, and Binner comes so far out of his net, gets big, and makes those fucking huge saves on these big-time shooters. Unbelievable. But they force it to overtime.
Starting point is 00:42:18 Second I got to overtime, again, I'm common. It's just, listen, 3B3 over. over time, you have Canada, it's over. And I was like, this is going to be over in a minute. It was over in a minute 22. And who was it, dude, Mr. O.T. himself. Oh, man. So incredible play by Mitch there, too, because there's so much of the regroup.
Starting point is 00:42:37 That was such a fucking strong play. Well, because there's so much of the regroup culture now, which you know I fucking hate. I know you do too. That it's kind of like, you go in and you're just patient and you're just waiting to see which way the defense goes and you peel it back. And it was like, Mitch came in and he was like, is anyone going to take this? man take this yeah and just no one everyone was kind of waiting for him right it was legitimately or look and he just kept going and eventually they lean on him and he kind i give him a lot of credit because
Starting point is 00:43:01 he kept that edge and and and just gets the backhand up and i know people are bummed like do so will want that one back obviously no no no everyone in checkia is like docile you played out of your and also man shut your mouth on a backhand it's a backhand it's a backhand it's a backhand it's a Backhand. Are you telling you that wasn't a snip job? Yep. I mean, that was a fighting off one hand on the stick, and then he gets two hands on, throws a back, like, and it goes borderline bar down.
Starting point is 00:43:32 Yep. You know, sure. What do you want that back? Yeah, it's like Swainman says, it's like you want every shot back when you're an elite goal tender. That's an insanely hard shot to save. Yep. The, I do want to say, we both, we'd all said, we were telling Red, just get to O.T.,
Starting point is 00:43:46 there's no way this guy on team loses an O.T., they did get a grade A alone. I forget who it was. Two. A great A alone in the slot. And just to echo what you said, because I wanted to say it to, I did not think, no matter how well he was going to play.
Starting point is 00:44:01 Because go back to Four Nations. Jordan Biddington played great in Four Nations. I don't think Jordan Biddington won them Four Nations. He played great. Yeah. Ben, Mitch Marner and Connor and Connor McDavid. Yeah, you know, guys, tons. Tons.
Starting point is 00:44:11 Jordan Biddington saved Canada's ass tonight. And I did not think that was going to be said at any point during this tournament. I thought they were going to say, Bittington played exactly how he always does in big games. Very good. And that's why we won. That breakaway, I know Dajus was getting dogged a bit by Tays legally, but, you know, it just affected the play.
Starting point is 00:44:30 But he's facing a minute left breakaway. Great A's in the slot in overtime. Monumental, monumental safes. Absolutely true. May I say, though, in a game where you outchute the opponent 41 to 24, I always hate when it's like Binner saved their ass because there's also an element that's like, listen, that was a great game. It was four three.
Starting point is 00:44:55 Like the boys showed up too. Yeah. For sure. That was a good, to me when I hear like an emphatic like saved there. And I was the one I was pumping Binner's Tires. But like that was just a, that's like a 50.
Starting point is 00:45:08 That was it to me that was a top to bottom. Unexpected maybe gritty game and everyone showed up. And it's just in, but with, yeah, and you just need sometimes. you just need that save so badly and he did it. Sure. Like two in OT and I'll count that minute left one because that's the game. You know, those are like, hey, dude, I have to have this save or we're going home.
Starting point is 00:45:30 Yeah. And he gave you three of them. But also like we needed the goals. For sure. The guys got it. Yep. So it's great. Um, you would have a good maxed at.
Starting point is 00:45:39 Time on ice. Oh, Maclin Celebrini, I believe had second most. Is that right? Yeah. Yeah. Behind Nathan McKinnon, behind Nathan McKinnon, Maclin, Maclin celebration. Maclin Celebrini second most time on ice
Starting point is 00:45:52 for Team Canada in that game. It's just another moment of, are we shitting me with this kid? It's crazy, dude. It's unbelievable nine points through four games in his Olympic debut at 19 years old and then in,
Starting point is 00:46:06 think about this roster. And Macklin is playing the second most time on ice. He's genuinely the guy that they're looking to in these moments. When you have guys like McDate...
Starting point is 00:46:19 He's playing more minutes than Connor McDadee. Dude, think about that for a second. Just put it that simply. That's so crazy, dude. He's playing more minutes than Connor McDadee. He's playing more... Obviously, Sid got hurt, but he's playing more minutes than Mitch Marter.
Starting point is 00:46:30 He's playing more minutes than Kail McCar. He's playing more minutes than defensemen. Yeah. Kail McCar, Devon Taves. Like, what the fuck? It's insane. Absolute stressful. I'm so glad they won.
Starting point is 00:46:41 I'm so glad the Suzuki haters can suck it. I am fucking devastated about Sid. and like I can't even think about it. I want to throw up. Yeah, I will say boots on the ground here talking to people. We don't know anything about Sid. We don't have a good feeling. We don't have a good feeling.
Starting point is 00:47:00 If there's anyone who can come back from stuff like this, it's Sid. We don't have a good feeling. Moving on USA, Sweden. But first, let's get into some quick ads. We're going to talk about our favorite sponsor in the entire world. When it comes to this beautiful game, that we love. There is one name that is synonymous with the game of hockey, and that is Bauer. For almost to 100 years, Bauer has been the standard. It has been the greatest equipment, gear,
Starting point is 00:47:27 whatever you need in the game of hockey. It's unbelievable. I talk about it all the time when it comes to workout gear, when it comes to what you're wearing on the ice, from pads to sticks to gloves, buckets, whatever. Bauer is the no-brainer. And let's be real, your wheels are the most important thing in the world. And when it comes to your wheels, you need to get them sharpened right. And it's actually quite frustrating how impossible it is to get your wheel sharpened. If you're not on an elite team, you can't just leave your fucking skates with somebody to get it taken care of. Starting point is 00:50:02 You are? Yeah. Wow. That is awesome. Okay. Well, Dan, you were wearing chubbies right now because you wanted to feel comfortable when we were watching the Olympics.
Starting point is 00:50:12 Do you think I wasn't? sweating sack during both of those games. Yes, I was. And do you think anyone could see it through my jeans? No, they couldn't because I had chubbies on. That's actually a perfect, perfect story to tell because these are the most stressful days of my life. I literally thought about it while watching the game.
Starting point is 00:50:26 I was like, it's funny that I have chubbies on and we're going to do Chubbies out later because they are collecting sweat right now. And that's why Dan's obsessed with Chubbies. That's why I'm obsessed with Chubbies. They're getting us through these Olympic games. Chubbies was founded in 2011 by a group of friends who wanted to redefine proper length shorts. men's shorts were losing their personality and craftsmanship, Chubbies set out to rid closets of those uncomfortable shorts
Starting point is 00:50:46 and put some fun back in Olympic hockey watching. This year makes 15 years of Chubbies and they're celebrating by bringing back the originals, the shorts that started it all, which is incredible. They've got over 2.6 million customers. They know how to keep people happy, keep the vibes high. Their shorts are centered around that Friday at 5 p.m. feeling
Starting point is 00:51:04 or that I just want an OT hockey game in the Olympics feeling, which we love. And they use advanced technology stretch fabric that's also quick drying, wrinkle-resistant and anti-microbial. It's incredible. So for a limited time, Chubbies is giving our listeners 20% off with code netters. That's N-E-T-T-E-R-S at chubbies shorts.com. That's 20% off your order with code netters.
Starting point is 00:51:25 Get your thighs, the VIP treatment they deserve with Chubbies to support our show and tell them we sent you. Boom. USA hockey. Talk to me. I was in a tough spot tonight. Yeah, dude, this was not fun. I had a horrible time.
Starting point is 00:51:40 tonight. I did not. I did not. I just had a terrible time watching hockey tonight. For loyal listeners of the show, passionate listeners of the show, they know that I'm dual citizen here. I'm U.S. Sweden. And I had two U.S. Sweden duels in back-to-back days. Yeah, you did. You sure did. Did not like it one bit. This one, man, it's funny because we're there, right? And we're taking, I'm on my fucking phone. I said I'm a nerd. I had my computer there. But I have my phone out. I'm taking notes and I just and I took a ton of notes in the Canada game, which I was also stressed about. But I couldn't even, I looked down. We went to, we were running into overtime in third period of USA game and I looked up in my notes app and there was nothing there. I was like, God damn it,
Starting point is 00:52:22 dude. That was just like, that was one of the most free flowing hockey games that we referenced this a lot that felt like 2011 Game 7 Boston Tampa Bay. Yeah, good one. Yep, good one, good one. No penalties in that Boston. There were three penalties in this game. I think, I think what was it? USA had two power plays. Sweden had one. That sounds right.
Starting point is 00:52:43 I think it might have been the case. This was a free-flowing hockey game. It was, it started and finished before we could even bring. Can I ask a question? First, I want to ask us to the chat. Who, of the Americans in the chat, or the hockey fans that have American hockey friends in the chat, I want to know, drop a line.
Starting point is 00:53:04 like or a comment or something, how many people said, who we play in Rammer today? Dude. We blast, so shadowed Jason DeBers. It was like, dude, what a perfect moment. Luke put up the story. Jason DeMers, I'm telling you right now, J.D., you are, J.D. is another netter. Like, we always call Lazz the third or fourth netter as well. and he had an amazing, amazing stat that we pumped out yesterday in preparation of this game.
Starting point is 00:53:38 USA has not beaten Sweden in the... USA men's have not beaten Sweden in the Olympics since 1960. They have either lost or tie every match. So crazy. And we tweeted that and the amount of replies that were like this, who we play in Rammer? Yeah. And I was just like, yeah, get it out.
Starting point is 00:53:56 And people were like this, I'm not done. I'm going to keep right now. Yeah, we had to. You're damn bright Sweden. In the Olympics. It was fucking awesome. That got me going, dude. That mount got me going.
Starting point is 00:54:06 And then, man, I actually was thrilled, by the way. I'm so superstitious about this shit. I thought Sweden, even though I actually did think they played their best game today. I thought that was Swedish best game in the whole fucking tournament. But I was thrilled that they had got their wins in those dark blues. And then we put them in the yellows. And I was like, I needed that. That was a big jump.
Starting point is 00:54:27 That was a big jump for me. I needed that. We've been talking about color rush a lot this season. Can we talk about how nice that game? That looked awesome. It looked awesome. Sweden in their yellows, USA and their Royal Blues. That was a sexy jersey matchup.
Starting point is 00:54:40 It looked awesome. But from the first period, this was an electric hockey game. I think shots at the end of the first were like 10 to 11 or something like that. Sweden looked great. And I said it going into this game, I do not like that USA is playing the Sweden team when they have just played their best two games. I know. They had found their footing.
Starting point is 00:55:02 They had found their rhythm. Their best players were cooking. It was fucking ridiculous. Everyone looked really great and especially Jacob Markstrom. Markstrom looked so locked in and dialed in that first period. And I was like, are you fucking kidding me? And I do want to say this before you get going. I thought in a big way that the way USA could take control of this game was physicality.
Starting point is 00:55:29 We've looked at the way that they've looked at the way that they. They've handled other teams throughout this tournament. We looked at the way that they isolated Leon Drysidal when they played Germany. We looked at Four Nations the way that Charlie McVoy, the Cachuk brothers got really physical against top end talent like Connor McDavid. I was like USA's going to come out and hit heavy. And that isn't really Sweden's game. While they have huge players, they have great insane elite talent,
Starting point is 00:55:52 I thought the heavyweight battle was going to be how USA could get on top. They never really were. Yeah. Take the hit stats out of the game It just never felt like Oh people are banging Like it was just a really good There were some good hits you both ways
Starting point is 00:56:07 But it was just yeah Especially in those first two periods I was like this is just a fucking good game And that's not even to say I mean I know headman was hurt here and there But like Victor Headman and Jesper Bratt Did not play in the fucking I think they had one shift
Starting point is 00:56:20 In the first period or something like that Okay I don't know what galaxy brain stuff Is going on with Sweden's head coach This entire fucking tournament But it's like Philip Foresberg was getting scratched early on. The way, just so many roster decisions by this Sweden coach had me fucking blown away. Okay.
Starting point is 00:56:38 So, like I was pulling my brain out of my nostril and ringing it out like a used dish towel, watching Sweden play this whole tournament. So this is what I wanted to say too. We, the, some of the boys from Canada had told us that one of the other games they played early, then they watched the USA game at the house. Yeah. So we stayed to Canada House invited us over to watch the Canada game and we went because we had told you guys that have been listening to our other pods that it was hard to find a sports bar. So we said, this is a million TV here.
Starting point is 00:57:08 This is actually a perfect setting to watch the USA game. Belly of the Beast. Dude. And again, I actually think this is really cool. But because Canada was up for these epic speed skating. Hell yeah. It was amazing. The whole first period, the speed skating is on.
Starting point is 00:57:23 Yeah. And we're like. And by the way, Shadow Canada, winning gold. Yeah. It was dope. but we're like, bro, are they going to put this game on? This is insane. So for the whole first period, we're like grinding in a corner, trying to get it on our phone.
Starting point is 00:57:34 Keep in mind, it was just completely on on a TV. Yeah, yeah. A mere 20 yards away from us. We were just so dialed. We were like, we got to get it going. So then we kind of get over there at some point in the first period. And then someone tells us, who's been watching it, they're like, Fedman and Brat aren't playing.
Starting point is 00:57:50 And I'm like, what to do? What is going on? Because, again, we have no audio. And I'm like, what the fuck is happening? So that shit blew my mind. and actually rattled me. But I want to say, I coming into the game
Starting point is 00:58:00 was pretty negative. I obviously was rooting for USA and was like, I want to win so badly, but I had a lot of fear coming into this game. It just felt like the most typical fucking,
Starting point is 00:58:08 we lose this game because they're too fast and they're playing their best and we had a day off, blah, blah, blah, blah. And then I kind of swung around after the first, even before Lark's scored,
Starting point is 00:58:18 I was like, we got this. And you were kind of going almost the other way where you were getting more nervous as the game went on. I was just never comfortable. Yeah. I will admit I'm a man of honor.
Starting point is 00:58:30 And that's so wrong for what I'm about to. I went full coward with my family. And I was like, congratulations. Yeah, you were being a snake. I was being a reverse jink snake piece of shit. I did it. I'm sorry. But I was freaking out because it just felt like we, well, I did that after the
Starting point is 00:58:52 triangle. Yes, yes, yes, yes, fair. I was watching the game and I was like this is gritty as shit and then my fucking boy scored so dude Larks gets that tip
Starting point is 00:59:03 and I And can we take a quick moment if I could play America the Beautiful right now while I deliver this soliloquy of then I would Dylan Larkin
Starting point is 00:59:14 had this is what he does His best game too That was his best game by four What's that Thanos quote Run from it Or like
Starting point is 00:59:23 Where did it Did that lead you? No, no, no. Fear it, run from it. Destiny still arrives. Dylan Larkin arrives in these tournaments. He had a huge game in Four Nations, and I've been waiting for the Dylan Larkin game.
Starting point is 00:59:42 Dylan Larkin played so fucking well in this game, and obviously he had that great goal. But then if people did not see the fucking strip set, he had in O-T, I mean, it didn't lead to anything. But like that play, that strip and then carry the puck into the zone, dished Jackie. I was like, this is about to be game. And this man's, this man's penis is about to be so large that a helicopter is going to have
Starting point is 01:00:07 to come in and airlift it out of this arena. But that is neither here or there. But that goal and like that whole shift from him was unbelievable. Dylan Larkin has that unbelievable tip goal and USA goes up. And I was then, I wasn't comfortable then, but I was like, The fact that they went up in that game, I was like, fucking this team, this team's different. Yep. This team's here.
Starting point is 01:00:29 That was big. So I felt when that happened, and we got that really late power play in the second, and I wanted a goal so fucking bad because I was thinking, get out of the second one nothing. And then if we had just pumped one there, it was going to be perfect. But you don't get it. But even still, I felt fine. Obviously, this is a tight sphincter game. Obviously, this is stressful.
Starting point is 01:00:47 What did you expect? It's Sweden and the Olympics. So, you know, it was going to be good. And it is. And this isn't taking anything away from Connor Hellebuck. who I thought was tremendous and has now been tremendous for two big best on best tournaments.
Starting point is 01:00:59 But I never felt like Sweden was actually threatening deeply that whole game. They were competitive, but there weren't grade A's the way Binner faced a few. There was never like, oh no, the breakaway.
Starting point is 01:01:11 They had a lot of great possession, a lot of like, oh, scary chance. May I deliver you a shame card? Sure. I can't believe you have anything to do but with a delicate brush powder Connor Hellebuck's balls. Oh, he deserves a powdering.
Starting point is 01:01:28 I'm saying my comfort level wasn't as scared as obviously I'm never going to like Canada as much than like us. I was watching that. I'm just telling you how I felt. I was watching that game going like this. Sweden is not about to score. We are all over them. I thought they had some good chances. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I'm telling you, I was like this. We are all over this team. They can't get anything going, even from seven minutes until they scored. Every rush was broken up, chipped out. It did taper. U.S. had layers. I was like, this is, this sucks.
Starting point is 01:01:55 I hate watching a one-nothing game where I'm so stressed because one bad bounce. But truly, from seven to one, it was just like, we are so. Will you do me a favorite? Yeah. Will you say something nice about Connor Hellibuck? Connor Hellebuck. Don't be, hey, don't be sarcastic. Why would I ever be sarcastic?
Starting point is 01:02:13 You really hate the sarcasm. Connor Hellebuck is, when he plays like that, I go, he deserves to win MVP. He's the only goal that they could win MVP. did that not feel like watching him play tonight? Did it not feel like you imagine what Jets fans feel like most of the regular season? When you go, he's fucking so lot. She was so dialed. He almost, and I want to get to this goal, but he almost kicked out that Zeevibas.
Starting point is 01:02:42 Like it literally hits his pad and tucks in the side of the net. Totally. I was like, holy shit, he almost saved that. But I'm just saying in that buildup, I was, you know, anytime you're watching a one goal game, forget one, nothing. You're just sitting there like this. like, please get it out, please get it out. But we just were. Every beat, we were just, USA was like
Starting point is 01:02:58 Block Pass, Chip out, Sweden's got nothing. And I was like, man, we're just going to win this game. I really felt like we were just about to win this game. Yeah. And it was going to be fine. I mean, shots at the end of the day, I think were 40 to 26. USA, you know, was, they were the better team.
Starting point is 01:03:13 They were the better team, but Sweden played very fucking well. Yep. I want to, I mean, stick taps to Sweden's defense. They played so well. Yes, they did. but we get into the third, as you said, we're chipping away. I thought USA played great. Me too.
Starting point is 01:03:30 And it was just like, fucking A man, we're going to win this game two nothing. Yeah, with an empty netter. Is there anything lamer than giving up a goal within two minutes? Dude, it might be the lamest thing in hot. It sucks so much. It's just so fucking lame and pathetic. They have their goalie pulled. But it just don't get fucking scored.
Starting point is 01:03:48 Goalie pulled or goalie not pulled. It's just like desperation mode and you give up, it's like, oh, the other team is so desperate. They're a desperate fool at the end of their pitiful robe, a madman. And you give up a goal. It's just like,
Starting point is 01:03:58 are you fucking kidding me? And to give up a goal with like a minute and a half left to Mika Zabana, you had who's like done what? All game. And this is an opportunity to say Lucas,
Starting point is 01:04:11 motherfucking agreement. I said it last pot. Everyone listened to last pot. Lucas. He has been my best suite. He has had an incredible tournament and that pass was fucking filth. For those who are unaware,
Starting point is 01:04:22 Which I am sure many of you are. Who is leading this tournament in points? It's obvious. Mack? No, it's obvious. Connor. Connor McDavid. Who is second?
Starting point is 01:04:36 Mack. Tide for second. Lucas Raymond. Is Lucas fucking... It's been incredible, dude. Lucas Raymond has been incredible. One goal, but eight assists. Lucas Raymond has been the preeminent playmaker for this Swedish group,
Starting point is 01:04:51 and he has been everything that you have been saying. of like the superstar that he believes and Detroit fans believe he is and he came up huge in this game. Absolutely love to see that play because that passed his advantage of Ed. And the goal was great, fucking crap.
Starting point is 01:05:08 A helloduck almost man, Barakas is an absolute firecracker of a goal. So when that happens in that moment I wanted to die because that moment was when I completely flipped and I knew we were going to lose. I just want, like again, for the purposes of transparency, I, I, this is what, this is going to be some bullshit.
Starting point is 01:05:29 This is what we do when we cope and I'm admitting I'm a coward. Yeah. This is what I sent to my family, my Swedish family. Yeah. I said, this is catastrophic for USA, but it's over. Sweden already won. I apologize to the, and, or excuse me, I said, Sweden already won. And that was just me being like, fuck.
Starting point is 01:05:45 Yeah. It's fucking clitter. Just being a bitch. But no, I felt that. I felt in the pit of my stomach. I felt like, here we go. Yeah. And dude, I was going to a dark place where I go.
Starting point is 01:05:55 like this. Oh, amazing. We left all our fucking goal scores off the roster. They're sitting at home. Jason Robertson, Cole Cawfield, Alex DeBrinke, and we lose two fucking one in the quarter finals. Go home with nothing. You lose. You get nothing. Good day. And the reckoning that is going to come with this roster selection after this loss. Because not only did you lose, but you lost scoring one goal against Jacob Markstrom on a back-to-back night. I will say, I can't imagine the butthole moment. Can't imagine the tight
Starting point is 01:06:35 but hole moment for the the people who picked this roster when Vincent Trocheck and J.T. Miller are on the ice for the last 90 seconds.
Starting point is 01:06:44 You brought them here for this and that bowl goes in and you're like oh my God. But either way we get to overtime can I just say
Starting point is 01:06:53 by the way I've seen it now I fucking hate that these are going to get decided by three on three overtimes. Oh it's absolutely
Starting point is 01:06:59 terrible. I didn't even think, I didn't think I was going to like it. No, but having seen it, I want, what a fucking melt. And, and, you know, I saw a couple people who very logically were like, some, someone tweeted something like, we've already lost Kevin Fiala. It looks like Sidney Crosby might be hurt. We don't need to risk these guys. Dude, it's the fucking Olympics. It's like, if we're doing it, we're doing it. And playing 3V3, I hate it. It's just my personal take.
Starting point is 01:07:25 I'm not saying that that is the right take. I'm not saying it's some educated take. It's my personal take as a hockey fan, which is all that I am, I fucking hate it. Yep. Olympic hockey slash any, and that's why in the NHL in fucking playoffs, it goes to 5V5. Yep. Because in true elimination, important hockey, it should be the teams that decided. Correct. And it should be five on five that decided I fucking hate it.
Starting point is 01:07:51 So don't like it, but we get to overtime and going into it, it's like, is USA the better team on paper? Definitely. but at the same time it's like three on three there's fucking such good talent on this Sweden team and I was like this is crazy but we can fast forward through it there really weren't that many
Starting point is 01:08:09 other than the Dylan Larkin chance which was Jack which was Jack Hugh Dylan Larkin had his unbelievable strip in the D zone carries it down draw past to Jack Hughes with a great chance in the slot Jack Matthews and Gensel all had pretty good chances and that's when I was sick again
Starting point is 01:08:27 Dude, I actually wanted to bring up Jake Gensel is so goddamn good at hockey. Yes, correct. It's crazy. Like, he's just, it's wild. How impressive he is. Sorry, we did forget this, because I just want to say this.
Starting point is 01:08:39 Late in the third, a visibly injured. Oh, my God, Jacob Slavin. A visibly injured Jacob Slavin, who has not been, you know, it hasn't been the world beater that he was at Four Nations. If Jacob Slavin made one of the most all-father plays
Starting point is 01:08:54 I've ever seen. It was one of the most athletic plays. and truly all father moment. I know every Carolina fan clocked this moment. There was a play in the third period, a high danger opportunity for Sweden. Jacob Slavin made a play
Starting point is 01:09:08 where he like kick-saved a puck had his body completely twisted around and he sold his entire body to Valhalla. And extended in midair and like poked a puck away. It was the most unbelievable like three plays in
Starting point is 01:09:24 one play moment ever. He also had an incredible backdoor breakup. I was like, who was that? Yeah. And it was slave. Yeah. So, God, he showed up in a big way with like five minutes left in that game where I was like, that's the all father.
Starting point is 01:09:37 There he is. But yeah, huge credit to him. To close this game out, there's nothing else to talk about other than at this point. Actually, may I, may I just quickly have a moment? Yeah. I talked to our boys, Johnny Lazarus and Colby Cohen. By the way, anyone listening right now, if you're not. following morning cup of hockey go follow it on instagram right now go watch their show johnny lazarus
Starting point is 01:10:02 colby cohen two of the best guys in the game go give them a listen go give them a follow but i popped on their show this morning and i was i was pumping the tires of my boy jack hughes yep and colby very fairly was like the commentary there though is can he do it against big tough competition who assisted dylan larkin's goal both hugh's brothers yep jack hughes with the primary yep jack hughes was unbelievable today and that one shift where he was literally spin cycling the zone and everyone's just like, go Jack, go, go, go. Jack Hughes has, he's always had it, but he is embracing and in the middle of his zone. He's in his zone, baby. I'm in a fucking zone, man. Jack Hughes is in it right now. He played amazing as he has all tournament. But to transition that into the other Hughes,
Starting point is 01:10:52 this game was all about Quinn and this overtime was all about Quinn. And this overtime was all about Quinn, we go on and on. We wax poetic about Connor McDaniel on team Canada and the way he moves on the ice, how fast he is, how much dominance and control and poise and presence he has when he has the puck. And the way everyone goes, holy shit, that is officially happening with Quinn Hughes. The way this kid moves with the puck, the way he commands the offensive zone as a defenseman is unbelievable and I have not seen I didn't see it in four nations totally
Starting point is 01:11:30 we see it with Minnesota but I think we've never seen it like this that overtime when Quinn Hughes was on the ice Team USA went Quinn take them you take it please Matt Bullley is just like here take it I said to you Jack Eichel was the only one who was like
Starting point is 01:11:48 and he correctly hammered that one time and they were not forcing it to him they were like get it to Jack Jack Hughes had that presence to you, but when Quinn Hughes was on the ice in that overtime, the directive was get Quinn the puck. And Matt Boldie,
Starting point is 01:12:01 who is easily one of the best players in this tournament and one of the best players on Team USA, he had that puck on the half wall and he looked up and went, where are you, Quinn? Yep. Where are you, Huggy Bear?
Starting point is 01:12:11 And he found him, and Huggy walked the line. He found his lane, stepped in and fucking pinger cheese, barring in, called game. And he went,
Starting point is 01:12:22 And he went like this. Like that was another one where they were like, change. And he was like, nah, I'm going to. I'm actually going to go win the game. Nope. I need you to know this. It admittedly, Kale is on the ice with Connor and Nate. And there's other guys who can wheel and deal just like him.
Starting point is 01:12:38 But think about that really famous goal with the Kale scored where he spin cycles that defenseman on the half wall. He was coming up the wing and comes back down, forehand back and under the bar. Quinn is in three on three. In three, and not saying Quinn, isn't diabolical five on five. He obviously is, but in three on three with that space, he is the guy on Team USA
Starting point is 01:12:57 that they go, you are the one capable of actually creating chaos. Dictate it all. And so literally they were just like, dude, some of us are scores and we can get good shots, but it literally has to be you.
Starting point is 01:13:08 Just get the puck and then start doing crazy shit because then good things will happen. And I could feel it, dude. Sand didn't even text to me. She was like, I actually feel like Quinn's about to score. I was like, yeah, it's a snipe job. Because he literally would
Starting point is 01:13:20 get it and he's he's like oh i can cut back i can loop around i can go inside out push it to my foreign everything we were we were even saying as he was coming down the slot those two times before that we were like do it Quinn do it do it do it just because it felt like it was going to happen from him not even necessarily off his stick but it was just going to be something he created yes he is the one who is actually causing problems three on three so even though i hate three on three i am so thrilled and lucky that we have a quinn hughes out there who can participate in an no doubt i wouldn't take him off the ice fucking once no doubt and yeah i think the big think for me is we talked about Canada, we talked about USA, or Canada had already played check
Starting point is 01:13:54 here, but for USA, a lot of people were like, they haven't played top competition. That was top competition. It's some of the best hockey you will face in this tournament. And the way Quinn was being cheeky and doing whatever he wanted. And like, there was even a play where he, you know, he was doing, doing his thing, kind of spinning around, walking the line, and he turned the puck over. Yeah, right. And he was so calm, like, whatever, I'll get back. I'll get the, and he got the puck. Yeah. Yeah. And I'm like, that is our guy. I mean, I mean, it's like we've been talking about, I think both Hughes brothers, I think Jack Eichel and Austin Matthews have been some of the U.S.'s best players in this tournament. But Quinn Hughes, Quinn Hughes is the guy.
Starting point is 01:14:31 Yeah. Like, he is the guy on this team and that performance just kind of sealed the deal so far through this tournament. So unbelievable wins from every team today. Unbelievable quarterfinals, too. And, you know, three overtimes that were just out of control. So tomorrow, as we wrap up here, we got the women's ripping it up. We're going to be going to the gold medal game, USA Canada at 7.10 p.m. Milan time. Sweden, Switzerland playing for the bronze at 240.
Starting point is 01:14:56 That is not a game to sleep on, by the way. That Sweden team is unbelievable. But then the day after that, so we've got a day off for the men's. The day after that, the matchups are going to be Finland, Canada, at 4.40 p.m. Milan time. USA playing again late night, 9-10 against Slovakia. But we've got our final four for the men's. We've got our gold medal and bronze medal games for the women's. tomorrow.
Starting point is 01:15:19 Shit continues to be fucking electric here in Milan. We're going to wrap up this live. If you didn't catch it, don't worry. It's going to pop up right up on all of our channels. No worries, whatever. It's almost 2 a.m.
Starting point is 01:15:30 here. And we were joined, by the way, earlier today you saw on the story by the good old Canadian boy Seth Jarvis's crew. That interview is going to be on the end of this. Right now,
Starting point is 01:15:39 we're going to repost us on the video tab and this is going to go roll right into the... Yeah, if you're watching the live right now and you want to check out, as you should, our chat with the good old Canadian boy, Seth Jarvis's buddies who have come to fucking hilarious. We were hanging out with them and we're going to see them much. Oh my God.
Starting point is 01:15:54 We're going to go with them all night. I absolutely love these guys. It's unbelievable. So tune into that as we upload this. But unbelievable stuff. Milan Olympics continue to deliver. Everyone here continues to deliver. Shout out everybody involved with this.
Starting point is 01:16:08 It is so amazing to be here. This has been unreal. You got anything? I got two words. Wow. Skate hard. All right. Well, this is a special moment.
Starting point is 01:16:18 is the first time we've had six guests at once. And real hockey fans... Who picked a better six to be honest with you? Truly, truly. I mean, like, we could have picked six random guys from Team Canada and it wouldn't be as good as this. But real hockey fans and real Canada fans will know this is... Do you guys have a name yet?
Starting point is 01:16:33 Like, are you going by something yet? Or it's like, I want to call you just the Jarvie crew. But like, what's the name here? Good old Canadian boys. There you go. The good old Canadian... I mean, eventually... Jar, yeah, whatever.
Starting point is 01:16:45 But the now famous, truly, Seth Jarvis gang. You are here in Milan, unbelievably, making your way from four nations to so many stops in between to now here in Italy for the Olympics. Quickly, introduce yourselves, all of you. I mean, this is ridiculous,
Starting point is 01:17:02 but you got to do it. I'm Brian. What did you have a stage name that you were going to think? I don't know if we were doing nicknames or real names. I forgot my name. No, I actually do your nickname. I'm nervous.
Starting point is 01:17:13 I mean, like, what you go by? I guess there's like a hundred nicknames, but I'm Brian. Okay. Vern. Okay. I'm Sloan, aka Doug or eBug. You shrug it. I'm Lucas. They call me
Starting point is 01:17:26 Chump or Hummer. I'm Noah and they call me Wags. Great. I'm Matt. They call me MX. Cleo or Cleo. And I'm Lucas and they call me Frizi. God, incredible. Fantastic. Those are good old Canadian nicknames. I'll tell you that much. Yeah, I mean, just you guys are perfect so far.
Starting point is 01:17:44 tell everyone one of you like the origin story of how you guys started showing up on tsn bar down our page and stuff like that as you kind of showed up to four nations you want to prize a while we can yeah um yeah i guess it all started down at four nations when our flight got canceled there and we we decided to drive and that was like jarva wasn't even playing i think you got scratched the game before and we were like well fuck i already paid for the tickets so let's trek down there and hope for the best. And it was Boston, right? Yeah. Because I thought it was the, it was like a blizzard in Montreal. We got there too. There was a blizzard. And then I think even
Starting point is 01:18:23 the next day we got rescheduled, there was a big plane crash. So it was like a double-wammy. We were at the report for like 12 hours in Winnipeg trying to figure it out. We were like, maybe we can fly to like Toronto bus to Buffalo, drive from Buffalo. But nothing worked out. And then I were like, fuck it. We'll just drive. And then even then like didn't really think much of it. And then once we found out Jarv was playing, like, kind of started to see some things on Twitter. We said, like, oh, like, my buddies drove down here and we were like, oh, fuck, like some random reporter tweeted. And then it's like, no, like, TSN re-tweeted it. And we're like, holy fuck.
Starting point is 01:18:56 Yeah. And then. No, no, no. Sorry. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. It's fine.
Starting point is 01:19:02 It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. That was my own job. Yeah. No, no. Day, don't let the suit censor you, okay? Just be it. Yes.
Starting point is 01:19:11 I'll tone it down But yeah No then it was I think it was kind of When we got on TV Was at the game With Kyle from Sportsnet He did a little bit with us
Starting point is 01:19:20 And then it was from there That when That kind of went viral And since then I guess Everybody on the internet Kind of just picked up one And been loving it
Starting point is 01:19:28 How was the drive? Yeah and was it a rental car Like did you Once the plane was canceled Or is this It was my mom's knee summer Oh That's incredible
Starting point is 01:19:38 Hell yeah So were you driving Was someone in the trunk? We all He was in the trunk? I slept in the trunk for about eight hours. That's such an ebug move. Yeah, I love that.
Starting point is 01:19:47 They didn't want to wake me up to go to the gas station, so it was kind of tough. Yeah. Wait, wait, you're telling us you slept through a gas station pit stop? Yeah, like, I woke up because we stopped, and then all of a sudden I see them all walk out of the car, not like say, hey, we're at the gas station. Do you want to get out? Yeah. So I just see them all walk in and then come out with food. I was like, thanks, fellas.
Starting point is 01:20:07 Snacks, drinks, stretching their legs, a little fresh air. Just in this trunk. Yeah. Doug's genuinely like the golden retriever just to sleep in the handcuffed. We're fine, dude. Okay, so you drove the whole way? No, we switched out. Okay.
Starting point is 01:20:19 On the way back, I think I drove the good last little bit. Vern, yeah. Byrne, I think, drove three hours combined. Yeah. He didn't let me sleep during his turn driving. So I had like the 5 a.m. shift. And I'm like beat red eyes. They're all sleeping.
Starting point is 01:20:39 And I'm like with Humble in the front seat. And I'm like, you've got to stay awake with me. So we're like, listen off the 50 states. And then like two hours in. Can you do that? By the way, well done, boys. That's tough. We got it eventually.
Starting point is 01:20:51 Yeah. Arkansas's a tough one. Yeah. Rickshaw shot at Arkansas. And then I think out of the 30 hours, I drove like two and a half hours. It's a hard time. But genuinely, I think I would have killed us if I stayed. Yeah, right.
Starting point is 01:21:03 You were doing everyone a favorite. And then, but they all gave me a hard time about it. That's incredible. Was it your first time to Boston? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 01:21:09 What did you think? It was sick. It was a great city. I mean, we were there for like 40 hours. And throughout the whole process, like on the drive, were you communicating with Jarvie being like, we're making it, we're driving down,
Starting point is 01:21:20 or did you leave him in the dark the whole time? Like, I think we faced him on one time. And we were like, where are you guys now and we're like Chicago? He's like, you're dead, and then he went to bed.
Starting point is 01:21:31 And then that was like the one conversation at all the time. That sounds like him. That's incredible. So then roll that into how Air Canada, how did they get in contact good you guys how did the trip get planned for for this whole thing um well i mean obviously at the beginning when we found out he made the team yeah it was like he turned around he went out the next day and then we're like firing off dms just trying to get like anything going yeah he looked at ticket
Starting point is 01:21:56 prices and everything and it was nuts yeah and then i guess like they caught wind of all the comments and people tagging air canada and they ended up reaching out to us and they made this whole thing possible like got behind the wheel and set us up hooked us up and treat us really well, like some upgrades in the way there. Okay. All right. Here we go. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:22:16 No, so can't complain. They've been awesome. They've made this whole thing possible. We were laughing right when he made the team. We texted him. We were like, let's fucking go, buddy. We'll see you in the lawn. He goes, I mean, I just got rinsed on a $30,000 vacation.
Starting point is 01:22:26 And he was like, but, I mean, best excuse of all time. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Were you guys supposed to go there to Rale? Did I see that? Yeah, yeah. So, what was the plan? So we were going to go Raleigh. I think he was supposed to go to Cabo.
Starting point is 01:22:40 the week before or week after maybe. But yeah, we were going to go to Raleigh and none of us booked the flight cancellations. So we were either soaking in or coming here. Yeah, yeah. No choice. We had to get here. So with the whole foreign nation,
Starting point is 01:22:57 because like that was just a blast, obviously. And it was so cool seeing you guys get on TV and like Seth's reaction to it was so awesome. When Olympics became a possibility, was it immediate in your heads? Like we should go to Milan as well? Were you guys thinking about this for a year? Like, I mean, obviously when, like, it was even a possibility after Four Nations,
Starting point is 01:23:16 we were like, there's no way we're not going. Yeah. There you go. When it wasn't names like the initial roster, we were like, well, I mean, we'll figure out something fun to do after we, like, you go out over it. But obviously, like, no other way we would have had it. We got here. So, yeah.
Starting point is 01:23:29 Yeah. What was the flight from, like, because you were coming from Winnipeg. Yeah, what was the flight? Yeah, a couple of us came from Raleigh because, like, Sloan and I were in Raleigh for a bit. Nice. And then, so we went. Raleigh to Toronto to Montreal in here and they went Winnipeg, Montreal. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:23:44 Milan. Yeah. Yeah. It's a bag, dude. So give us a bit of the backstores, like to backtrack a little bit. Like, has it always been this crew, like U6 and Jarvie? Or, you know, like, how did this all come together? How long have you guys known each? And did each of you meet? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, we all like. Tell me the day. What time was it when we met? There was a Wednesday. Yeah, it was a Wednesday at, uh, but, uh, but, uh, uh, not. No, we all kind of just, like, grew up playing hockey together or against each other and, uh, went to school together. Like, a couple of us went to Starbuck Hockey Academy together and then most of them went to Shasbury together. So kind of just stayed in touch like that. Amazing.
Starting point is 01:24:23 Yeah, so good. Amazing. Real Manitoba. So, I'll shout people out. You get here to Milan. Was there a moment after the whole Air Canada thing when you get hooked up that you were like, are you fucking kidding me? Like, are we actually still here? Every moment.
Starting point is 01:24:38 Every. We've been here. And like what are the first couple days been like? I think just Eric Canada has treated us like gold and they've done basically treat us like we're Olympians and done everything for us. It's been exceptional. And I think just being here and kind of doing going around a lot of touring and interviews and stuff like that has been kind of surreal moment for all of us.
Starting point is 01:24:59 Okay. Talk more about that. Because like the fact that I mean when this came about for us, we were like, oh, of course. Like let's all just like kick it and chat. But you're doing a lot of this now. you guys are doing, you're getting media trained here. You've got like hits before the game and stuff. Is this or is it overwhelming?
Starting point is 01:25:15 Are you guys like, what the hell is going on here? Is it a blast? What are all the emotions? And maybe up the media training because we've got four F bombs in 12 seconds. So, yeah, yeah. Media train. Media trained is a stretch for sure. I don't think any of us were prepared to show up here and just like, no, no emotion
Starting point is 01:25:35 could describe it. Yeah. This is fucking, we're in Italy. Yeah. For free. Yeah. Don't count me on that. Guys,
Starting point is 01:25:44 we're a pro fuck podcast. Yeah, yeah, but yeah, every day we wake up and we're doing something new with different people and it's like,
Starting point is 01:25:51 holy fuck, we're, I can't believe we're actually doing that. Yeah. This is insane. We're not supposed to be here. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:25:57 This is this, how many times have you boys been to Europe, if ever? This is our first time besides him versus school trip. Nice. There you go.
Starting point is 01:26:05 Where were you? London, Paris, and actual. Okay. All right. That's it. It's pretty solid. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:26:10 But I mean, listen, that's the best thing about, I mean, I think with those first clips that people saw of you guys, it's obviously so cool to have a moment where you're showing up, supporting your friend, you have the story of driving 15 hours down to the game in Boston. But I think the best part about it is this, that I imagine for you guys, that drive wasn't even a second thought. You were like, of course we're going to go. And I think that embodies the whole hockey family relationships so much. So for you guys to have five of the six of you, your first European experience.
Starting point is 01:26:38 together. And to be here for Jarvie for something like this, this has got to be one of the coolest feelings you've ever had. I mean, like, this is a trip that you would have always remembered forever, but now certainly will be an all-timer. That must feel awesome. Yeah, I think it's just a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us to be six best friends and very young. You're just hanging out in Italy. And yeah, I think just being here as a group has just been unreal and surreal moment. Yeah, not to mention getting to see Canada play hockey at the Olympics, right? Like, that's pretty sick. And especially a wagon. Which games you've been to?
Starting point is 01:27:10 We were at the Czech Republic, or sorry, the France game just now. Okay, sick. Yeah, my God, dude, so awesome. What was that experience like? I think just hearing all the chants and, like, the European crowds and that kind of thing, just the vibe here has been unreal. It's all these chants. And we don't even know what they're saying half of the time.
Starting point is 01:27:25 We just join them. And yeah, it's been unreal and singing Sweet Caroline with the Canadian family. That was a good one for sure. I feel very torn about that, by the way. We're like, we're kind of Boston boys. and that's a big Red Sox song. And I feel like Canada has kind of taken it. Did you just take that, dude?
Starting point is 01:27:42 And he loves it, but I'm like, what the fuck? This is bullshit. I definitely have been choosing my allegiance. I actually was saying to somebody the other day, because we were at the Canada check game and I had my Canada swag on everywhere. And people were like, people that recognized were like, you have Canada stuff on?
Starting point is 01:27:59 And I was like, dude, I love the Canadian team. I root for them every day of the year except once. And then I hate that. But like, we can't wait. I hope it's you. But so other than those two teams, I've been picking my allegiance on who has the coolest chance in the rink. Like one fan base starts doing a cool chat. I'm like, boom, I'm in.
Starting point is 01:28:13 I love it. Like, that's been a vibe. But it's like we were just talking about it's like the family friendship thing is so overpowering. It's like, you know, Dewey's one of our best buds. And it's like, even at four nations. I remember we were watching, you know, that first U.S. Canada game and he made a great play. And in the stands, I like, cheered for him. And one of our U.S. buddies turned to me and was like, you rat prick.
Starting point is 01:28:33 And I was like, I don't know what to tell you. Yeah. But we were lucky enough, you know, years ago now, Jarvie came on our show for the first time. And, you know, this was before he has become such a darling to fans everywhere. And I think you guys have tons of stories that we want to hear that just show the type of person that he is. And it's been so cool for us. Like he's been on the show a bunch of times now. But just getting to know him and seeing the world get to know him, I feel like he hasn't changed at all.
Starting point is 01:29:01 Like he gets... But you know. Why? Do you know why? He literally, he finally logged on, was visibly sweating. And he was like, holy fuck, boys. Downloading Chrome was so brutal. I actually, I'm now, I'm mad at myself because I'm about to sewer him on this,
Starting point is 01:29:24 but he has become the, like, running joke with us with every new guest that comes on. If they're a little late, they're like, I'm so sorry, five minutes late. And we're like, don't worry, Seth Jarvis was an hour. Like, every guest has heard about Jarvis. Yeah, it's like the running. But it is like, it does feel like for us, and we want to hear from you guys, it feels like, you know, he gets drafted, gets his shot, starts becoming a superstar, makes Team Canada for four nations, now the Olympics, and he's just shining every moment he gets,
Starting point is 01:29:50 but he just feels like that same kid that you guys all grew up playing hockey with. What are some of your favorite Jarvie stories over the last few years, or even back from, like, childhood? One more recent one was they were in Vegas, and he said he'd leave, like, we're all going to visit him, and he said he'd leave a key for. us to get into his apartment and was this just like middle of the season like carolina's playing Vegas during like our like school breaks oh that's okay okay visit them and then uh we get there and he's like oh fuck i forgot to leave you guys a key so we uh decided to walk to a target and uh pick up a football
Starting point is 01:30:24 and he used to have this park right outside of his apartment so we ran a couple routes for a good four five hours yeah and then finally went grab some food and then uh sat back down in that park and just waited. So the skinny, the skinny post is on point. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You guys played like two full American football games. Yeah. Who's huckin it? Who's QB? Uh, all of us. Yeah, we were, yeah. He was going to save the arm, honestly. Yeah. Yeah. Shoulders. shoulders were definitely, uh, took a beating on that one. But, uh, so what does he say, when he gets back eight hours later does he go, my bad?
Starting point is 01:30:58 What's up fellas? Yeah. Just stop fellas. Yeah. Yeah. Because you guys run routes for five hours. And you're like, actually, yeah, we sure did. Yeah. There's the football. We actually lost that football. Don't know what I'm going to run. Honestly, that's a good thing. Like, that football belongs in that moment.
Starting point is 01:31:11 Like, I feel like that football's in that park now it never leaves. A new group of friends get stranded and they start playing football. Knowing Jarvie, he's probably pissed, he missed the routes,
Starting point is 01:31:18 honestly. He's like, dude, that would have been gas. That sounds awesome. That's really good. Yeah, it's unbelievable. Anything that's been happening here, like,
Starting point is 01:31:25 have you seen him a few times since you've been here? Because I know the boys' schedules are kind of crazy. Like, you don't really get to get too much time. Yeah, I know we caught him a little bit after that France game. And then even we went out for dinner with him,
Starting point is 01:31:38 just the other night spent some time with him there. And also last night he swung by at the Canada house. And we got to spend a bit of time with him. But I mean, it is, it's funny when we went out for dinner, none of us speak Italian or anything like that. And, you know, we're letting him order. And he's kind of just pointed out things on the menu. And then, you know, the waitress is kind of, you know,
Starting point is 01:31:57 just asking if we want one or two. And he's just kind of nodding. Yeah, we'll take one of these. One of these. You can really upsell Jarvie. They're like four, five. And he's like, yeah. Just keep going.
Starting point is 01:32:07 Scary crew and Jarvie's in charge. Yeah, that's actually, that actually is rattling. I think that's part of the bit. They're like this. Let's just see what kind of trouble you can get into here. It's unbelievable. When you guys think of him and like who he is as a person, are there any stories that come to mind from like playing together or growing up together?
Starting point is 01:32:22 I mean, I think like for me, I know like a lot of it's all laughs and jokes, but just seeing him like when we're out in Winnipeg, the amount of people that come up to him, even it's like, oh, hey, I played against you once when we were eight years old. He's always like, oh yeah, I remember. remember you like like no way like yeah that was sick like I remember you playing that team he always takes a picture always like acknowledges them as a person's like that's that's pretty cool to see that he still is just that like genuine guy around literally everybody like doesn't matter where we are like if we're out at a bar if we're out you know for coffee in the morning like it's always
Starting point is 01:32:53 he'll take the time to talk to somebody like thank them for taking the time to talk to him and it's pretty cool to see that side of him all right dude sometimes he pisses me off because every time he talks himself. He's like, oh, you know, I guess Team Canada needs a water boy. And I'm like, shut the fuck up, dude. You're going to score 50 goals in the national. Like, you're good. He's like, I guess. I don't know. I'm working on it. But it's true, though, because he's such a nice guy, but he's also got that work ethic, right? You know, he's just so committed to the craft. He was like, it's a joke. And I was like, it's not a joke, dude. You are actually going to do it. But it's you guys, too, right? It's like, you are who your closest circle is.
Starting point is 01:33:27 So it's like, it's not surprising to see that six buds would, you know, fly across the world for him. It makes sense because he is the way he is. It makes sense that you guys are the way you are. So it's, it's interesting. I'm curious now, like, what are you guys up to these days with like work and school and playing or anything like that? But also, this has become such a fun thing. It almost, with today's day and age, you can kind of do anything. It almost feels like we got to keep this show on the road here.
Starting point is 01:33:53 So, like, what's going on in your heads about what we're doing now? I mean, I, like, I graduated this year and I start working later in the... Congrats. Yeah, nice. Yeah, that's a win. And... Yeah. God, I'm so mad that wasn't on the mic.
Starting point is 01:34:09 There was a high school. There was a high school. There was a high school. I told you they got a career in this. Fuck, that was funny. Yeah, no, and then I'm living the unemployed life right now. I've been in, probably for like the last month and a half. Amazing.
Starting point is 01:34:22 It's fun, dude. I know, dude. Has he given you a key yet? Oh, yeah, I got a key. Armoco and everything. He and a football. Yeah, no, it's been sweet. So hopefully go back to Raleigh at some point.
Starting point is 01:34:34 Maybe leach off him a little bit long. Yeah, good, good, as long as you can, me. That's awesome. Don't be shy, boys. What about the rest of you? Like, you know? Well, I think most of us are trying to finish up school right now. I'm just finishing up a history degree, trying to go into law.
Starting point is 01:34:48 Let's go. Fucking rights. Yeah, I'm trying here. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. Just finishing up school. How many of you are still in school? everyone else
Starting point is 01:34:56 except him yeah yeah look at you you're head of the curve yeah yeah taking the long road like yeah yeah
Starting point is 01:35:02 yeah and are the rest of you where are you guys at in Canada are you in the States at University of Manitoba yeah Manitoba okay great
Starting point is 01:35:08 great great great great that's amazing yeah and it's like you know what are you guys seeing do you want to do a career in sports do you want to do a career in media
Starting point is 01:35:15 do you want to do you know you're they'll get a lawyer here so yeah I was thinking more occupational therapy and if that doesn't work out gym teacher
Starting point is 01:35:22 yeah summer's off summer's off. That's a great life. Yeah, you sink Jarvie pretty well there. Just peg kids with dodgeball play road hockey with him,
Starting point is 01:35:31 hit him a bit, but like, yeah, not like that. Just a few. Yeah, and you are not getting hired. Mr. D style
Starting point is 01:35:41 just lay a kid out open, open ice, but yeah. That's my route. But yeah, and then I'm just going to firefighting school
Starting point is 01:35:49 and starting that up. Come on, boys. Coaching hockey. Me and Lucas also coach hockey and so does Matt and Sloan as well. Yeah. It's the best.
Starting point is 01:35:57 Stay involved in the game. I mean, this feels like it's got to be a reunion though. It's like anytime something special happens with this guy, if you're not on the road, I mean, like, let's, I mean, we got to cross here. That's what I'm saying. If Carolina makes it to a cup, if I don't see you fuckers in both cities, it's going to be a problem. I mean, like, this is unbelievable. Because, dude, because we've been doing the Florida, Edmonton Huck every fucking year now.
Starting point is 01:36:19 I'm like, Jesus Christ. But it ends up feeling like a camp because you're just like, You're on the same flights with everybody. You know, like, hey, what's up? You know, after game six. So, yeah, we need a Raleigh. We need a Raleigh Stanley Cup run. That would be incredible.
Starting point is 01:36:31 That's the same. All right, I want to go around for each of you. What's been your favorite part of Milan so far? Can be a meal, can be one of the games, can be anything. But I want to hear from all six of you. For me, so far as we, uh, Seth put him, we were going to McDonald's the other night. Oh, dude, we hit McDonald's, too. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:36:49 We were going to McDonald's and, uh, we're like, he's like, it's a quick walk. By the way, every Italian listening to this just shriveled. Yeah, of course. Of course you can't. It was post-dinner snack before bed. We had to refuel. So we took a walk to McDonald's and it was a long haul. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:37:06 It was a long track, but we had some music going, hitting some dances on the road. There you go. Yeah. You got to give him a piggyback to it. I know. Yeah. We did a little McDonald's taste test and I think the big thing for us was I was like,
Starting point is 01:37:18 I don't feel like shit after. Yeah. What did you get? What did you get? I got a big arch. tried a big arch too. Massive. I was fucking heard of that shit,
Starting point is 01:37:26 dude. I was like, oh my God. Yeah, it really was. It was really good. And the, um, what the fuck? Oh, so we, there was a burger called the 1955. I saw that.
Starting point is 01:37:35 Yeah. Didn't get it. It was incredible. That was pretty good. But I was like, why did it called this? And then somebody was like, that's probably when McDonald's was founded.
Starting point is 01:37:41 And I was like, oh yeah, that's pretty. But I didn't even look. I haven't checked yet. But that makes a lot of sense. All right, what was yours? Yeah. I think for me, maybe it was two days
Starting point is 01:37:48 going up to like the Air Canada a flight deck and then after we did that they took us up top of the building. So it was like we got to see the church. It was like it was an unreal view up there. And that was super cool. We got to see all of kind of Milan from down there. And Seth was also with us.
Starting point is 01:38:03 So it was cool to again experience that all together. Yeah, that's epic. Shannon's Air Canada. Really? Yeah. Pulling out all the stops for the boys. This is unbelievable. Dude, we were on our first Air Canada
Starting point is 01:38:14 like ever. We were at a wedding in Montreal. And everybody's like, oh, Air Canada. It's delayed all the time. And I was like, it'll be fine. And then we get delayed like six hours in Toronto. And I was like, God, damn it. And then we get an email from Air Canada.
Starting point is 01:38:27 It's like, hey, here's a $25 voucher to use at the airport. And I was like, what? Chris, we're trying to gas up Air Canada. And then, I'm trying to shit. What are we doing here? Ever since, it's been incredible. That's true. My first trip ever, I was like, wow, everybody was right.
Starting point is 01:38:42 And then ever since I've taken Air Canada, it's been amazing. So now I've got to get on your guys team because they're really getting hooked up. I'd say my like top experience has been was yesterday when we got to meet Cassidy Gray. She was an awesome person to meet. Couldn't have done it without our management team over there. Phoebe Thomas and Rebecca. Thank you guys. But yeah, as soon as we saw the TikToks, we were just like, we have to see that.
Starting point is 01:39:07 Like they have to meet her. Like, yeah, that was awesome. Like super surreal moment. There you go. Do you love that? So quick tangent here, because that was all time. and the TikToks have been so good. She's such a gamer down to do all these incredible videos.
Starting point is 01:39:22 What she like? What have you guys been doing with her? That's been like my favorite storyline. Yeah. I mean, she's been awesome. Like, she spent the whole day with us.
Starting point is 01:39:31 Obviously didn't have to, but she was great. I mean, like we did some TikToks with her, and I think they were all like one takes. Really? She's a pro. That's a pro.
Starting point is 01:39:39 That's a pro. That's a personal best for our group. I mean, on the trip to Raleigh last year, we were probably five or six takes every video. So going with her was awesome But I mean yesterday she came out skating with us And obviously we did another TikTok there
Starting point is 01:39:52 Yeah That was awesome She ate shit She did eat it by She did Only one to fall Damn Not like the seal slide
Starting point is 01:40:01 Was that what you mean Or she also ate shit Yeah yeah Like a grizzled veteran though It's hooked her head Yeah yeah She knows how her first rodeo Yeah
Starting point is 01:40:10 Fuck that's awesome That's fantastic For her though Yeah she's great Has she met Jarvie yet or last night? Okay. Last night.
Starting point is 01:40:18 There you go. Okay. Keep snapping around. Yeah. Yeah. I think just going to the Canada house and experiencing that and just how cool a place it is, like showing up and just looking around and seeing all the amazing stuff around the walls, all the Canadian stuff and just seeing the rink, obviously, you're in the Canada house there,
Starting point is 01:40:35 which is just unreal moments. Yeah. Yeah. Watching the games there and all the other Olympic sports and all that and stuff and just cheering on with the rest of the Canadians. It's kind of seems like you're at home still. It's such a blast there. And you're so right, like the people that you see,
Starting point is 01:40:50 it's Aaron Ambrose is a good friend and being, we're in that Canada house and I text her and she was like, my cousins are there. They literally just arrived and like in walks a bunch of people with Ambrose jerseys on. This is so cool. Like the whole space is amazing, but then it's just all the people you see.
Starting point is 01:41:03 It's unreal. Oh, that's a great question. Oh my. Yeah, is that true? So we're hearing that at the Canada House. You guys are more of celebs than Jarvie. I think, yeah, like one of the rules we got when we got in there is don't speak to pros unless you're spoken to. And then they come up to us and they're like, these guys love it.
Starting point is 01:41:30 So it's like, they come up to us and they're like, can we get a picture? We're not allowed to talk to them. So can we talk to you? Yeah, it's sick. And then we also went to Duomo a little bit ago. And we were with Jarv and there's people coming up to us asking us to take pictures, talking about Stephanie standing right behind. They recognize us before. Probably because we're wearing his jersey.
Starting point is 01:41:48 Yeah, right. Yeah, yeah. They're like, God, I'd be so cool to meet him, and you're like, he's actually here. I know. We're just part, and he's standing right there. Yeah, yeah. You can see him waving. It's also, when you guys are together, it's like a giant amoeba walking around.
Starting point is 01:42:00 It's like you're one direction there. It's like, you get tunnel vision. I can only see them. Yeah. Who did the, which one of you guys did the curling, Sally? That was us too. That was strong. That was fucking strong.
Starting point is 01:42:13 I really liked it. I really liked it. And here's the thing. I don't know if you, like, because there was the, the wheelbarrel too. Who did the wheelbarrel? You guys, yeah. So it's like the two for one specials are sick, but it's like I felt like the guys who went solo, I just had a tougher task to compete with that. I think it's just because we got that chem. Yeah, right. Yeah. We're linemates. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Makes sense. And we're both out there. But dude, I got to tell you, if anyone
Starting point is 01:42:38 on the team, if two dudes on the team did a curling cellie at an Olympic game, it would be the greatest moment of my fucking one. Well, they better give the good old Canadian boys a shout out. Yeah, yeah. God, that would be incredible. So that was really... So I am curious, how did this trip work with school and like your lives? Like, is, are you on break right now or? Okay, okay.
Starting point is 01:42:59 That's per... I was going to say, this would be a fantastic situation if you were like, uh, we're obviously going to Milan, so... Dude, I was going to say fuck him. I would have gone anyway. Oh, of course. Of course. I have one situation on that one. Yeah, we're working on it. I'm trying to defer my... Yeah, I'm trying to defer my exam
Starting point is 01:43:15 because we land at like 11.59 on the 20. and I'm an exam at 9 a.m. on the 25th. So emailed the teacher. And he's like, that's, uh, actually probably shouldn't say his name. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's careful. He may be the dean of my faculty. So probably shouldn't,
Starting point is 01:43:30 probably shouldn't throw out his name, but, uh, I'll tell you what. I'll tell you what. This is going to be really easy. When, if and when Canada wins gold, you just put sit on the phone with him and be like, hey, buddy, uh, push his exam back. See, that's what I'm hoping for potentially.
Starting point is 01:43:44 But, uh, yeah, he said this is not a good enough excuse to defer it. So, uh, it's not. Yeah, apparently. What is? Yeah. I think we got to say this guy's name and just sewer him. We'll just bully this dude into pushing your exam back. One post, dude.
Starting point is 01:43:57 We'll get this thing pushed. I promise you that. I think it'll trend on the internet and I don't know if that'll look. Because here's the thing. What we'll do is we'll make this a clip now and all your buddies will just send it to this professor and be like this seriously. One of my teachers was really good about. Just like, yeah, like send me pictures. Like, please do it.
Starting point is 01:44:11 Like you didn't tell me why you were missing the last couple days of school. But like I saw you on the internet. Hope you have fun. I was like, thank you. Appreciate so much. That's what we want to hear. Okay. So yeah, one post.
Starting point is 01:44:22 You guys have... Wait, wait. What does that mean? Do you guys have one Instagram? Yeah, they go old Canadian boys. Yeah. We started, yeah, we started three days ago and, uh... Yeah.
Starting point is 01:44:33 We're only, we're only allowed to post Instagram stories. Is it? Yeah. They're in charge of the actual post. Yeah. That checks out. Yeah. But this is what I love...
Starting point is 01:44:41 Even that's on thin ice power. Still gets sent in every time. This is what I love about the internet. And it's like, if we eventized this, you guys are like Santa Claus now. It's like, no, no posts go up until. until something special happens. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Incredible.
Starting point is 01:44:53 I think if you bring him back a present. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking like, and then you just know show the exam. Yeah, no, I might have to do that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. To the Olympic committee and, hey, do you have an extra gold medal for me? I need a present. Yeah, I need it.
Starting point is 01:45:07 What class is it? Principles of fitness training. Jesus Christ. Okay. That gym teacher, I mean, this is very possible. I feel good about this. Okay, I need more favorite moments. Whoever hasn't answered that. so far.
Starting point is 01:45:21 I don't think I have. I think honestly, my favorite moment is like the Olympic buzz around the city. Oh, cool. Good answer. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:45:27 The different jerseys you see walking around, like, if you see another Canadian, like there's a go-cana go champ. Yeah, yeah. Any European, they're like pointing each other
Starting point is 01:45:34 yelling at you in another language. You don't know if it's nice or mean. Yeah. It's a lack of, walking through, uh, Duomo area last night and a run club went through that formed while people have been here
Starting point is 01:45:46 and it was like there were a thousand flags. It was all these fans from different nations. And I was like, holy shit. I mean, run clubs are kind of lame, but that was pretty sweet. I was like, this is the coolest thing I've ever seen. That is a great answer. Like, always say go Canada. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:45:59 Oh, really? How many people actually love Canada? Yeah. Okay, funny. I feel like they're doing that. I think that this is just commentary on how awesome Italians are. They're doing that for us, too. It's like, we have a hilarious.
Starting point is 01:46:09 Like, we have like a team USA backpack. And we went to the gym and people are like this. What are you competing in? I was like, I'm a plug, dude. Podcasting. I have a microphone. That's all I do. I will say, though,
Starting point is 01:46:19 everyone has been really nice, but I will say when we're going to Canada games, because Red's Canadian, we go to Canada games, and we all have our Canada shit on, people are nicer. Yeah. They're like, oh, hell yeah, you're Canadian. I'm like, yes. Just roll with that right now.
Starting point is 01:46:35 Yeah, yeah, yeah. The USA Denmark game, there were a lot of, like, finance bro US fans in the crowd just shout. And I was like, you guys aren't hockey fans. This is making us look really bad. You have some funny stories about that from Boston, too. Oh, yeah, yeah. You got.
Starting point is 01:46:48 Please share. I mean, this one's a good one. Oh, yeah. Well, during the anthem, there was that buzz about phuing of the anthems and stuff. Yep. And I don't know really how it happened. We were just singing the Canadian anthem.
Starting point is 01:47:00 Yeah. And next thing I know, I'm my feet are over my head. I'm in the next row. I got pushed somehow. I got bodied. I got bodied by someone. Which game? While you're signing on.
Starting point is 01:47:12 The gold medal game, yeah. While you're singing the Canadian anthem. Yeah. The anthem's going on. And next thing I know I'm in the next row. and my feet are over my head. And I'm looking back on the fellas. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:47:23 So you guys are asleep at the fucking switch, dude. Jesus Christ, dude. Well, timeout. That's like, it's like being, get attacked in the shower. You're singing the anthem. Your guard is down. I was recording the anthem,
Starting point is 01:47:34 and I stopped, and then three seconds later, I see this guy's fucking head, like, feet over and I was like, tell me I stopped recording at the worst time. Oh, did you? Yeah, yeah. Now, in the best video I've heard.
Starting point is 01:47:45 What did you got, we can cut this if it gets to grab. Did you guys throw down or? Okay. I just looked back up and I'm just during the game, during the game I kept getting fed in the back of the head. Like, what the fuck? Same guy? And, uh, there's a group of like four of them. And so I just kept getting fed. So I'm getting like ticked off. Yeah. So I'm, and obviously this guy's our mediator. So it's kind of like, I mean, relax, relax. Yeah. Good Lord, boys. The self-control here. Was it, were they like in Bruins jerseys? Or like, who, what are we talking about here?
Starting point is 01:48:14 There was one in a brewing. Yeah. Yeah. All right. This is, this is where I love the internet. internet do your thing find these guys DM us because I know someone in Boston know who it was let us know who those guys were and we're going to sue her the shit out of you just this is why USA loses it's like don't be a dickhead fan
Starting point is 01:48:32 that is the message to every fan out there don't be an asshole it's very easy so you just were good old Canadian boys did nothing said we're bigger men well they're pretty nice guys honestly other than that they were nice guys you got you got pigeon tossed you were getting dumbied in the back of the head and they were
Starting point is 01:48:48 nice guys. Oh, fuck. That's a Canadian. Yeah. That was kind of like a dick. But then the rest of them were actually, like, we were shooting the shit with him the whole game. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:48:56 Yeah. Had beers after it went to dinner. I mean, if that's not hockey, it's like after the game, you're like, let's go grab a beer. That's actually true. I love it. That is so good. And did you meet Sid at Four Nations?
Starting point is 01:49:08 We did. Oh, yeah. Yeah. We did. I can't I hear about that one? It was, uh, you want to go on it or? Sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:49:14 So, uh, yeah, like, I guess friends and family got to go down after the game, whatever and we got to see the locker room that was super cool like we're all fanboying in the locker room a little bit and then on our way back up we walked past sid crazy thing he looks at my jersey and goes i really liked that jersey i was like holy fuck you talk to me okay and so then so then i was like can i please grab a picture or whatever and then uh yeah i kind of swarmed him a little bit felt bad after but yeah you got you got to do it you got to do it sit open the door said yes to the picture and then it's like oh actually pull out my notes out i have a thousand questions now that I have you here
Starting point is 01:49:48 right yeah yeah we got him surrounded then I just turn around and I see jarv and he's like oh my god yeah I look away for you idiots for one second that's his one nightmare he's like no and we're like obviously late like they just finished we've been drinking the whole game so we're the drinking people down yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah that's awesome it was fucking nice guy oh yeah
Starting point is 01:50:06 more than willing to take pictures yeah yeah yeah it was unreal all right well that's a perfect you know transition to the last thing here for you guys how cool is this moment for you? I mean, obviously, supporting Jarvie is always the best. But there is something cool that it's like, you know, now he's in, you guys aren't Hurricanes fans, like born and raised is my point. This is like, we're at the Olympics.
Starting point is 01:50:31 Canada's playing NHL guys are here for the first time in 12 years. You're here going to all these games. Is the fan in you still alive as ever? Oh, yeah. Like, obviously we're here to watch Seth, but like you see the first. line come out for Canada and they're stacking it and it's it's outrageous like we coach junior b hockey uh slone and i and just going from watching those games every friday sunday and then we watch no offense no offense no offense i love you guys you guys are going to get back to practice and be like
Starting point is 01:51:02 none of you were making it but uh no it's been it's been unreal like obviously you see the guys on the ice and obviously like most of us are Jets fans at the end of the day. Yeah. Winnipeg. Um, you just see like JMO all the time. And like that's our Crosby and Winnipeg. Yeah. And then now we're cheering for Crosby as well and McDavid and McCar and you're just like,
Starting point is 01:51:30 how are we watching this? Yeah. It's unreal. Like I can't describe it. It's actually insane that we feel like this is the best US team to suggest. Just talent-wise, pure talent-wise, that we probably ever had, right? You know, trying to close that gap to you guys as much as we can. And then I go out and watch when they load up, like, Mac, Connor and Nate.
Starting point is 01:51:52 I'm like, what the fuck, dude? This is bullshit. It's actually insane. We've said it so many times on the show now over the last week and a half. It's like when you just look down the – someone posted a photo the other day. It was on the bench. It was like Maclin, Connor, and Sid.
Starting point is 01:52:07 And they put it next to a photo of like – Oh, yeah, Charmander, Charmillion, and Charzazard. And I was like, that's the best photo I've ever seen because it's real. And it's like, you look at the U.S. And I'm like, why don't we have that? Who's our 19 year old? Yeah, yeah, yeah. But it is, I saw our good buddy Johnny Lazarus always says, it's like in this job.
Starting point is 01:52:26 I can't tell you how many times, like people will, we'll tweet something. And then like someone will get in a fight with us and be like calling us, I being like, you guys are supposed to be the professionals. And I'm like, dude, I'm a fucking idiot. Like, we didn't play in the NHL. We're like you guys. Like, we're just fans and we had this cool opportunity. And Johnny has always said, it's like, no matter how many things we do, how many guys we meet or games we go to, never forget that you're a fan first.
Starting point is 01:52:50 It's like, we fell in love with hockey for a reason. So it pumps me up that like you guys are doing all this cool stuff, but it's not lost on you. That it's like, as many things and as many companies bring you places, it's like, don't ever forget to stop and be like, holy shit. We're watching Canada play in the Olympics right now. This is unbelievable. It's so cool. Fucking right. What's the schedule?
Starting point is 01:53:10 What's your plans? The rest of the rip here? Going today. So this is, it's Wednesday. Yeah, yeah, for the fans. Mom's and Dad. Yeah, we just. Thomas and Phoebe, what are our plans for the rest of the week?
Starting point is 01:53:21 Yeah, what are these? Yeah, there we go. I like that. Welcome to hell, boys. Yeah, yeah, fucking strap in. Pray to be a gym teacher. Okay, so it's Wednesday right now. Canada plays quarterfinals at four.
Starting point is 01:53:35 4.30, 440, whatever? 440. You guys are going to that game. I think we're trying to as of right now. Okay. TV. TV. Okay.
Starting point is 01:53:43 Okay. Sick. Yeah. I mean, come on. There you go. Do you know how hard that is, dude? They won't talk to anybody. That's incredible.
Starting point is 01:53:51 That's amazing. Definitely got a bit of imposter syndrome. It's like, dude. Why us? No, dude, I can tell you. Guys, trust us, we get it. You'll have that. I'm telling you, it will never go away.
Starting point is 01:54:02 But that's okay. You know, frankly, it's a good thing. Yeah, amazing. Okay, so possibly going, possibly with Canada House watch or if you don't go? Yeah, we'll go to the Canada House and support the rest of the rest of the rest of the Lombians and, yeah. Any nerves yet? Or you're fine.
Starting point is 01:54:18 It's the Czech. We don't care. How you feeling? Well, I think there's still some good players on Czech Republic, obviously. And I think just, you never know. Like, bronze pick before the tournament. Yeah, like, disappointing. But yeah.
Starting point is 01:54:29 I think they have a really good first line, like Hurtle, Pasturenak and Natchez there, but. Natchez is playing very, very well. Yeah. Oh, my God. And, like, this is, I feel like a lot of fans for a while have been like, I think Nacious is good. And I think this tournament, the casual or fans of other teams are like, oh, fuck, this guy's really good.
Starting point is 01:54:48 I think Jarvis is the biggest nature's fan in the NHO. Yeah, he is. He is actually. It's unreal. Yeah. Okay, so feeling pretty good. Yeah. And just looking at the roster, like you said, like we were at the France game, you see McCar wheeling
Starting point is 01:55:00 around behind the net, and then he drops it to Devin, or he drops it to McDavid, and then it's like, what are we watching right now? Yeah. It's just like, there is shifting back and forth. Then he passes across to McKin, and you're like, look at each other. Like, what the fuck are we? Yeah. Is this real?
Starting point is 01:55:12 Like, yeah, it's just mind-blowing watching them. And when's the return home? 24th. Okay, all in the same flight. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, we're going to the gold medal game. Okay.
Starting point is 01:55:24 So hopefully. Semis, I think. Yeah. Semis and gold medals. Okay. So, yeah, today's fucking massive, boys. We need this one. We need this one. Jesus Christ.
Starting point is 01:55:32 These fucking guys. This is determined to move for the rest of the trip. God. Yeah. We don't even have tickets. It's unbelievable. Yeah. It's unbelievable.
Starting point is 01:55:40 Tickets? No, just you guys. how are you getting back to Raleigh? I think I might go back to Winnipeg. Unfortunately. We'll see and then I'll make my way back out there. As long as he doesn't get sick of driving me there. I guess you didn't do it.
Starting point is 01:55:57 I mean, dude, they're getting all these upgrades. They're going to be fucking flying the plane back to Winnipeg. So I believe it. All right, before we close out, I mean, obviously we've got, you know, hopefully the game today, semifinals, final. Is there anything while, I mean, we got, what, six days left here in, or, yeah, six or so days left here in Milan? Is there anything on the bucket list that you guys want to get done?
Starting point is 01:56:19 Other than winning a gold medal? I think we want to do a Lake Como for the day. Oh, sick. Wow. Tomorrow? Not really sure. Depending on one of the day. I guess maybe Saturday.
Starting point is 01:56:28 Everything's break there. Oh, yeah, fuck. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But we heard it's unbelievable there, and someone was saying how it's just one of the best thing they visit in Europe. So, obviously, want to go see that.
Starting point is 01:56:39 Yeah, got to take advantage here. Yeah. It would be really cool. It's unbelievable. Thanks for coming on. This has been a blast. I feel like this is going to be something that we will do more often. But in the meantime, tell everyone where they can find you
Starting point is 01:56:48 and who do we get a shout out other than Air Canada and everyone else who's helped along this journey. Yeah, I mean, I guess on Instagram and TikTok, the good old Canadian boys. Yep. Oh, L of not the E. Yeah. Important.
Starting point is 01:57:01 The good old Canadian boys. Okay, there we go. I don't know. Do we need a shout out? Obviously, we got a shout out. Phoebe, Thomas, and Rebecca, they've been really doing everything. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:57:12 For those agents of the stars here. Yeah. This is unbelievable. I don't know. Who else can I shout out? Can I shout out the team that I coach? Yeah. Shout out.
Starting point is 01:57:19 This is your opportunity. Shout out anybody. Okay. Then, yeah, I'll shout out the Winnipeg Monarchs and the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, Missy Boys. There we go. You want to get all this with me? The Winnipeg Twins in the MMJL.
Starting point is 01:57:35 There we go. I'll show up my boys I coach U-18 Thrashers, AAA in Winnipeg. Come on. I'll shout out the backdoor sliders softball team in the summer Wow, what a name I was nervous there for a second
Starting point is 01:57:50 I was like, what? Hey, that's my name I came up with I'm a boy, there you go. I'll go shout out to Freedom 35 Beer League team and my grandma Carol. Yeah, let's go. Carol, there we go. Shout out.
Starting point is 01:58:04 Fucking right. All right, last thing. What's your favorite meal that you've had here? Oh, fuck. I would say, I'll probably show you. I don't say the big arts, but we had a good slice of pizza yesterday, actually. We were real excited. Stella, what's that place called? We went to. Stella, pizza, man.
Starting point is 01:58:17 It's right at the road. It's a fucking go. It's incredible. I don't even know what place we went to, but it was really good. Okay. Slice of pizza. I like it. Slice, yeah. Probably when we went for dinner with jar of just having a bunch of appetizers and just seeing him order a million of them and just picking up them all. Yeah, exactly, not knowing what's coming. And then just all trying it and trying to tell each other what it is and figure it out.
Starting point is 01:58:37 That was probably my fair part. Yeah. God, he's so... What? What? What? What? What? Yeah, anything blow your mind? No good pasta boys? Fuck, we're in it. I don't even know what the name of any pasta I've ordered. Yeah, yeah, fair. Anything you ordered. Yeah, you had a good mac and cheese.
Starting point is 01:58:52 It's great. Yeah. I ordered a crab dinner. Oh, yeah. Oh, my God. Actually, so true. So true. Do they had like a pokey bowl station in the back? Yeah, exactly.
