Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to the Empty Netters podcast. Can you believe what this has become? There was a full 48 hours where I felt like I was like literally Superman. Jumbo loves playing Fortnite, so he gets on the sticks. Did TR show you the sauna cycle or was that all year? No, no, I invented that. Almost a year now that I haven't taken a body check. That's kind of nice.
Starting point is 00:00:20 So we are back. We are horned up and we are going deep. Finish tonight with some chicken fingers and a few guineasas and ran into you guys. That's where this pod came to life. Ice is ready, and we're back with another episode of the MTNators podcast brought to you by BetMGM. We're all over the place here, boys. I'm your host, Dan Powers, coming to you live from Sferia here in Sweden. Dr. Watkins is set up in the layer, and CP over here is kicking it at home in Maine,
Starting point is 00:00:51 and it sounds like he just cracked a beer? Oh, yeah. As always. Wow, with the busted hand, too. Yep. Dude, I cracked that with the busted ham. Like, that's no joke, dude. That was impressive, Chris.
Starting point is 00:01:05 That's no joke. I can't really get a grasp on what's going on with your cast situation. Sometimes you've got this wrap on. Sometimes you've got the brace on. What's happening here with the hand? This is a bit more stable. Like, they were like, leave the splint on. But I actually think this, like, well, it's way more cumbersome, but it gets,
Starting point is 00:01:23 when I have that little splint on, I can still get my fingers caught on stuff and it hurts. You know, like, oh, fuck. Whereas this is like, battering ramp. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, you're good. If I'm going to the gym or if I'm doing something that I need the dexterity, I'll wear the splint. But if I'm just, buddy, if I'm just sitting here, podding. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:40 Boom. Wrap it up. Wrap it up. Dude, I cannot afford this to happen again. I need a proper heel this time. This will never happen again. This guy, Evan, is just back home. Like, his favorite things to do when he's back home with our dad is golf and fish.
Starting point is 00:01:56 Can't do either of those things with a broken flipper. Brutal. It's insane. I actually did try to. fish and I took this off and my pinky, my pinky just like lingers near the bail. Like I'm like reeling it in it. It's like, didda, did it. Just like, it's like a doorstop. Like hitting my pinky. Chris, what if you get? What if you get with that big shark you were talking about? Dude. I don't. Break your hand all over again. That would actually be worth it.
Starting point is 00:02:20 This is what happens, Ev. Like he's just going to reel something in. The weight of it against his broken hand is going to shatter it into a million pieces again. You're asking for trouble here. I know. I know, dude. You need to hire a hand assistant. I don't mean that in a pervy way. I was going to say, I like this job a lot. He's like, God, I hate my job. Yeah, Evan, you might not mean it in that way,
Starting point is 00:02:41 but that might open a whole different door of opportunity, which is great. I had in, uh, never mind. I'll tell you guys after. Uh-oh, okay. I'll tell you guys after. Listen, before we get into stuff in this app, I do have to say, as we're trying to figure out the time difference and everything, Evan and Chris were texting me being like, hey, are we good for this time? Is everything all set up? I woke up. I had to take a nap.
Starting point is 00:03:07 My flights were, you know, not the best for sleep. And I woke up and was like, what time is it in L.A.? And it was like, nine 24. And I was like, great job, Dan. Yeah. Oh, wow. Great job. It's like the professional New Yorkers who can fall asleep on the subway and they wake up at their stop at their stop. Yeah. Because they're just, they're pros. Exactly. They have it dialed in. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. I'm at the point now where if I set my alarm for like 7 a.m., my body wakes up at like $6.59. Really? And if I'm really good, I can like reach over and stop it before it goes.
Starting point is 00:03:40 God, it's like the microwave, you know? You're like, yes, get it, get it. I hate when that happens. I do that sometimes too. And like a part of me is like, am I, you know, I got to allow myself to rest and reset here. Don't be anticipating the alarm. But often that's the worst. That's just how it goes.
Starting point is 00:03:58 It's unbelievable. But we got, listen, we've got great stuff for you guys today. We've got tons of shenanigans. We've got NHL rankings as the news continues to slowly trickle in at the snail's pace of which we have never seen. Dude, Marty said it to us, Dan, GMs are on break. They are. They're on vacation too. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:19 Hockey is so dead, but you know what's good about that? Oh, buddy. Chelsea, baby. The Prem is back. The Prem is back. We've already got an unbelievable Manchester United States. lost at the hands of newly promoted whole city. That was awesome.
Starting point is 00:04:36 It was tough seeing Frank get absolutely pumped by Arsenal though. I didn't like that. I hated it, but it's okay. Like, I think they actually needed that in their first game. Welcome to the majors, Mr. Hobbs. And it'll be all right. But that is uncomfortable. It was great.
Starting point is 00:04:50 What do you got for a CP? What's on the agenda, NHL-wise, that you want to chop it up about? Yep, here we go. So NHL Network has been slow releasing their lists. We talked about the D briefly because we had a couple of, comment on it and we got into that good debate about Mo Sider, but they've been slow releasing their list. They do defensemen, goalies, wings, and centers, and they are finally done. Centers came out, you know, 15 hours ago or whatever. So they have their top 20. So what we are going to do is give you
Starting point is 00:05:18 the empty netters top 10 players at each position because the NHOn networks list are wrong. No offense. No offense. I'm going to be honest with you. I was looking at the centers one and I didn't have that many issues. I was actually pretty impressed. I was like, well, done, boys at the network. Okay, well, good. We'll see. We'll see. Okay. So the first one we are going to start with is defensemen. And I'll read you the top 20 right now. Okay. And I need you to participate in this too, because we have to, we have to, what is that word called when the group agrees. Committee? We need to reach a blank. An agreement by committee. Consensus. A consensus is what you're looking for. census, yes. Okay, so the top 20 NHL Network.
Starting point is 00:06:01 Wait, we did this with the D already on the show. We talked about D because we were talking about, we read them and we were talking about Mo Cider. Yeah. We didn't give our top 10. I'm just saying we talked about their list. Like, this is the empty netters, here are the best 10 defensemen in the league. Because we are right, they are wrong, we are big, they are small, we are smart, they are dumb.
Starting point is 00:06:20 NHL Network, Kail, Quinn. What is that? Oh, it's Happy Gilmar. You are attractive? Yeah. I'm not very good looking. Dude, I think the one I just said is from Matilda, I think. I think it's literally like a much... You're right.
Starting point is 00:06:36 I hope Las is listening. Johnny Las will know if that's from Matilda or not. Yeah. And why will Johnny knows from Matilda? Just because he always has the most obscure. But he will. But he's like, oh yeah. I'm like, yeah, great reference.
Starting point is 00:06:48 Okay. Kale, Quinn, Renski, Dalline, Miro, Lane, Schaefer, Sanderson, Moe, Bouchard, McAvoy, Slavin, Fox, Faber, Yosi, Morrissey, Lecombe, Headman, Theodore, Taze. All right. M.T. There's top 10 defensemen in the league. And I think it's partially, like, how they played last year, but also just... Yeah, I think it's a combination of last year as well as overall.
Starting point is 00:07:16 Yeah. You know what? Every time we do this, we say something like that, but I'm like, isn't that how any list works, you idiot? Well, no, because sometimes they're like all time, but if we're talking about current players, like there's no other way to do it. Exactly. Like, I don't want to put headman really high. just because he deserves it all time.
Starting point is 00:07:31 Exactly. That's kind of the difference. Yeah, like, Dowdy would be on this list if we were doing that. Exactly, right, exactly. All right. Listen, we don't have to do order, right? No, we do. That's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:07:43 We have to go in order? The empty netters definitive, here are the top 10 defensemen in the league. And fucking at us, dude. At us. I don't care. Here's the fucking list. I want to say off the rip, I disavow all of this. I take no ownership of this.
Starting point is 00:07:58 list. This is a jet lag. It's a consensus, Dan. It's a consensus. That's the thing. It's not just you. This is a jet lagged post flight, international flight. Post nap. Post nap. Nothing I say can be admissible in court. I am a free man. I personally, share the bullets. Yeah. I personally think, boys, one, two, three is absolutely correct. So here's a take, Dan. I think we all agree with KL, right? I know what you're going to say. You're going to say Z too, and I don't hate it. I am especially after last year. And here's the thing. Quinn Hughes is,
Starting point is 00:08:33 this term gets thrown around a lot, but he's generational. He's a perfect human. And he also, like, I mean, this might have been old, but someone's like made an edit that I just got fed
Starting point is 00:08:42 that was just the Hughes brothers, all three of them, just tooling around at practice, and they're just so silky. And Quinn is silkier than Z, I would say. Z would say that. You know, Quinn, the way he moves is, is truly special.
Starting point is 00:08:55 Like, you know, a few people do it. And you know what? Quinn Hughes is the, he is the king, he is the monarch, the sovereign of the, it doesn't matter if you're a small defenseman club. He is proven to everyone that he can hang with anyone's top guy, but as a D man, as a traditionalist, I just think Z is, Z can go toe to toe with anybody, actually. Just like the last couple years, he's kind of a monster. He's way bigger than people think too.
Starting point is 00:09:30 And there's part of me like if I was building a team right now and I had to take a defenseman and it was between the two of them, I'm like, oh, it would be the most impossible Sophie's choice of all time. My two American boys, my two sweet men. I don't know how I would be able to do it. But listen, I've been the biggest Z guy of all time. I was president of the Z fan club all last year. and I don't know how I could go back on all of that now. But it's truly a coin flip. It's brutal, dude, but I was just thinking to myself, my God, he's making these plays.
Starting point is 00:10:05 I had the same experience with Z as Helly at the Olympics where I was like, man, I mean, kind of the Jets is like almost his, Helly's fault at times. But the Jets haven't had these deep playoff runs. And Z is like never in the playoffs. So I was like, man, what can we say about him in high pressure situation? when we don't know. And obviously, Quinn is also delivering in incredible Olympic high pressure moments.
Starting point is 00:10:29 But just seeing Z step up like that at the Olympics, I was like, God, he has it, dude. He's got it. He's got it. He does it all, Dan. He does it all. I'm going two. I'm going to. We'll go Z two.
Starting point is 00:10:40 Quinn three. Okay. The fourth best defenseman in the league. Matthew Schaefer. Oh, okay. I'm kidding I'm kidding I love it
Starting point is 00:10:55 bro I almost want to I actually think it might be Dahlene I mean dude I don't want to get emotional but here we are
Starting point is 00:11:07 like I just said I just got out of altitude I was just at altitude that that freaking guy is like everything that he has been through
Starting point is 00:11:20 the way he took responsibility as the leader of that team and brought Buffalo back to the playoffs, won them a series. He is just so special. And the way he revamped his defense this year, that was the knock. It's like, you know, he's a big boy. He's obviously an unbelievable offensive talent. Great on the peeper. But people were like, oh, his D's not that great.
Starting point is 00:11:46 And he just upped it so heavy this year. Um, I mean, man, absolutely for. Absolutely. So listen to this, Dan. 52 even strength points for, I mean, it's like, dude, I just, he's unreal. Chelyos, who, you know, probably isn't watching hockey 24-7 these days. Sometimes comes on our show and some people get in the comments and are like, he doesn't know shit because he'll say something that's like, you know, wrong or outdated or whatever. but I got to give Chelly some stick taps because he has been banging the Dahlene drum for years.
Starting point is 00:12:26 Like literally, every time it comes up, he's like, Dahlene's the best defenseman. And I'm like, oh, okay. And this year was the first time I completely agree with him. And Dan, I now have Dahlene. It used to be the three guys we mentioned and then a cliff. I now have Dahlene in there. It's now those four guys to me, then a cliff. Like, legitimately.
Starting point is 00:12:45 He is up there. And I'm not saying he's better than Kail or Quinn or Zee, but I'm telling you, he's like, He's now in that club. He's got a seat at that table. Yeah. And then there's the fucking kids table. And Dahlene is at the big, at the big boy's table. He pulled his big boy pants up and he ordered the fillet.
Starting point is 00:12:59 And he's up there and he's eaten. He's eating it raw. And he deserves four. And I'm very happy with that. I love that. I love that. Now it does get a little interesting, though. It does.
Starting point is 00:13:11 Um, and I'm going to be honest, this is where I'm going to get a little bit like, What have you done for me lately? I'm going to think about last season too heavy. Okay. Okay. Okay. And I'm not saying that I'm ready to put this man five because I'm not. But I am sitting here on this couch in Sweden telling you guys that Charlie McAvoy is going to be very high on this list for me.
Starting point is 00:13:39 Okay. And again, that's right. That's right. Yes, it is right. And if we're talking about last year and like what happened to that man. what he battled through and having 61 points and 69 games. Like, that dude is him. And you want to talk about a guy who does it both ways.
Starting point is 00:14:02 I mean, my God. The coming out party of Charlie McVevoy last year was insane. Was awesome. Insane. I do love a Miro here. I think Miro was also in, like, he had another over 60 points from the blue line. How many games?
Starting point is 00:14:22 I think he played 77 last year. He also was just eating pucks, most block shots in his career last season. That's good. He's just like... I'm a little lower on Miro than I have been, dude. I used to be like him and Dahlene are like, right? And now I'm kind of like, you're one down. You're one down.
Starting point is 00:14:41 And then what do you do about Slaven, Dan? Like, what are we doing about Slaven where we go? He was hurt last year, but he's also the all father. Okay. So here's the thing. dude. Slaven is the All-Father and they won the cup. But the problem is, and you know that I will never speak ill of anyone on the Carolina Hurricanes and especially not the All-Fother, so I'm not speaking ill of him. But all these other fuckers are getting better defensively. It's like
Starting point is 00:15:11 they, while they have the good offense, like they already have the good offense and they're getting better defensively. Slaven has the good D. He's got that heavy D. And let me, let me ask you, better offensively. Let me ask you a question. I'm going to single out several guys here. I'm going to single out Zach Wrenski, Quinn Hughes, I'm going to single out Charlie McAvoy, and I'm going to go, is it a coincidence that with four nations and then the Olympics, all of those guys, their D, got way better after playing with one Jacob All-Fathers. Oh, oh, I see. Okay, so this is a slave and compliment. I am telling you, I think all of those guys up their defense. because of playing with Slavin for two years for for Team USA.
Starting point is 00:15:55 That's a great take. He gets a lot of credit for that, in my opinion. But we're not seeing Slavins. Obviously, he was heard a lot this year, but his offense is always kind of what it is. Whereas these guys, their offense is insane, and their D is now getting better. And I'm like, man, these guys are, you know,
Starting point is 00:16:11 they're kind of getting a little bit head and shoulders over here. Slavin signed his own death certificate, is what you're saying. No, I think Slavin died for our sins, dude. He is for the betterment of club and country. He is just, he is making everyone better. It's what Odin says to Thor. It's true. It's true.
Starting point is 00:16:28 Thor says, I'm not as strong of you. It says, no, you're stronger. That is what Slaven does to everyone, because he is the alpha. I was looking at his numbers just, because I know he doesn't score a lot, but you tell me if this is rare or not. He, no season has his plus minus ever been a negative. Oh, that is so dope. He is such a wonderful. Awesome.
Starting point is 00:16:48 So, I mean, to me, that's a mark of pretty good fucking defense. Yeah. I still think he's the best defensive defenseman in the league. Like, I think he is literally the best at defense of anybody in the league. If we were only zooming in on that, he would be one. Well, I would say for the reason they just want a cup, I would maybe put him in the top ten as opposed to 12. Yeah, I think he's getting in mine. Here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:17:12 Actually, I know he's getting in mine. I don't know how high yet. CP, for the purposes of speeding this up while also giving it adequate attention, We've got one through four. We now have to get five through ten. Realistically, the guys that I'm talking about here are Miro, Charlie, yep. I'm going Moe, Sandy, Schaefer, Lane, Slavin, Slavin, Faber, and Lecombe, and that's it for me. Dude, Dan, I think Hedman is on it.
Starting point is 00:17:47 Like, he just didn't play last year, which was fucking crazy. stop playing. But like, I feel like people have lost their minds. Like, Victor Hedman's going to come back and be like, I'm fucking better than all of you. Hedman's just out for me. And that is, I mean, dude, like, if we're talking about what you just said, you are doing what you said we can't do. Hedman played 33 games last year and skipped playoffs. Like, in what world are you putting him on this list? Because when he comes back this year and has mind right, then he is one of the, he's probably a top five defenseman in the league. And everyone's like, oh yeah, fuck, I forgot. I forgot. God how good Edmund was. And I'm like, I know. Well, I don't think he's going to be that high,
Starting point is 00:18:24 but he, I assure you he is not in this top 10 list. Oh, dude, I think he, I think he is. We'll figure it out. No, you don't, though. Like, I know that you don't think that. I actually do. Again, we're talking top 10. Yep. And he's not on it. So for five, dude, I would go Charlie, I would go Slavin if we're just waiting it or I would go Schaefer bro. I'm dead ass. I actually think Matthew Schaefer is playing like 25 minutes a game. He could score 20 goals.
Starting point is 00:18:57 He might regress year two. This happens. But if he doesn't, look anyone in the eye and get mad about Matthew Schaefer being the fifth best event. I know. Here's my thing. I do think, dude, if we're going five, six here, this is where I think network did well. I think it's probably Miro or Lane, dude. I mean, Lane had 78 points last year.
Starting point is 00:19:18 God, that is crazy. And he, after, after I think only 22 years old, being like, yeah, he could work on his defensive side of the game a little bit two seasons ago when they had their playoff loss to the caps. The way he did like way work
Starting point is 00:19:34 on that and up his game was incredible. How many goals did he have? He had 12 tucks 66 assists and here's the other thing, dude, all 82. Yeah. And actually it's unfair. since Lane didn't regress in year two, it's unfair to put Schaefer over him already. Correct.
Starting point is 00:19:48 So I will go Lane five. Five, yeah. But I would, I am fine. I'm going to drop Miro a bit, dude. I am fine going Schaefer six, and I would hear Charlie if you want. I personally think, as my,
Starting point is 00:20:02 I love Matthew Schaefer like a son. I don't know how I have, I mean, the network has Schaefe over both side of it. Yeah. Yeah. And they're banking on this. They're banking on this.
Starting point is 00:20:17 And we don't know that that's going to happen. But if it does, then they're right. Yes, we do. We do know that's going to happen. Well, that's what I'm saying. That's what I'm pitching, too. That's why I'm saying six.
Starting point is 00:20:24 He scored 23 goals last year and he's 16 years old. It's insane, dude. He's getting younger. He's going to be 15 next year. Think about how many goals he'll score then. Do you have Charlie above Miro? Charlie and Moe above Miro? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:38 I have Charlie, yeah. I'm telling you, Miro's slipping a bit for me. A bit. Okay. I think I'm going lane. lane five Shaf Daddy 6 yes yes dad yes Jack Jack Charlie Moe Miro
Starting point is 00:20:54 okay let's go let's go Schaefer 6 what is that I've been given a plate of Toastoggin and also an ice cold beer I'm in hell of God wow imagine imagine you two thinking that your lives are as good as mine yeah it's 10 a.m.
Starting point is 00:21:13 and it's 100 degrees outside in L.A. right now God, it's so hot here too. Awful. This is unbelievable. Shafor 6, Charlie 7. Okay, so now we have 8, 9, 10, Dan. Yeah. Do you agree with what I just said?
Starting point is 00:21:25 I stopped after Charlie. We're going, Schaefer 6, Charlie 7. Yep. Then we're going, we have 8, 9, 10. Slavin is in there, full stop. I don't know. He is. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:21:36 Put him at 10. Dan, he is. And then Hedman is also in. No, he's not. He's objectively not. You are going to, dude, I cannot. Your top 10 has 15 people in it right now. Chris, who are you talking to?
Starting point is 00:21:48 He's going to be a Norris finalist next year. I cannot wait. Do you want to put money on that? I'll put money on. He finishes top five in Norris voting. Because, yeah, he might not be a finalist, but at the end of the year, they show you the final. I'll put $1,000 right now.
Starting point is 00:22:02 Okay, I didn't say $1,000. That's outrageous. Yeah, he's got a busted hand. What does that have to do it? I mean, Dan, I can't put $1,000. For x-rays. For surgeries. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:15 So we're happy with Sheaf at 6. Yeah, Sheaf at 6, Charlie 7. We need 8, 9, 10. I will die on the Slaven Hill. And then who else do you want two spots? You want Mo? I like Mo, Sandy. Oh, we haven't put Mero in yet.
Starting point is 00:22:33 So I got to go Mero 7 then. Sorry, sorry, Charlie 7. I'm going Mero 8. So wait. Lane 5, Shaper 6, Charlie 7, Mero 8. And then. 9-10 i think is mo sandy slavin dude slavin has to be on this i'm quitting you're doing the rest of this episode alone you wow i i don't know man i think you like sandy had he's awesome 14 tucks in
Starting point is 00:23:06 67 games had a like when a lot of guys were struggling had a plus 16 rating last year led everyone on the Sends in Ice Time. James Anderson would tell you would look you in the face and go Slaven is better than me. Because he is the oddfather and he's also an American boy. Yeah, correct. But Sandy is your, you're letting emotions get involved here. And you can't do that. Then let's go Sandy nine, Slaven 10, and then Mose out.
Starting point is 00:23:41 Oh my God. If you guys don't know about Skagen, I sure do. God, it's the best thing in the world. What is it like a little cracker with some fish dip or something? It's like shrimp salad. Ooh. Incredible. Dig that.
Starting point is 00:23:58 So, all right, so just so I have the order here, what is your list from one to ten at the moment? Cale. Cale? Wrenzi, Quinn, Rasmus Dahlene. Yeah. Lane 5. Lane Hudson. Got it.
Starting point is 00:24:14 Matthew Schaefer 6. Charlie McAvoy 7. Miro Hayskin and 8. and I for me it's Mo Cider Jake Sanderson Slavin is in so you pick who's out
Starting point is 00:24:27 I'll allow you to pick who's out No you have to kill someone Oh okay How did you just try to trick me Because I'm taking Slavin I'm putting Slavin in So I wanted you to pick Of the two guys you wanted it
Starting point is 00:24:39 I'm allowing you to choose Which one gets to stay Otherwise I'm gonna break your heart No if someone is committing murder It's you Okay Then I'm going to say Sandy is out because he would say
Starting point is 00:24:54 Slavin is better than him. He would go, Slavin is my Lord and Savior. Okay. And then Slavin would go, don't ever say that about the one of your body. You've made a decision, dude. You've made your bed, now you're sleeping at.
Starting point is 00:25:06 So is that Slavin at 9? No, Slaven at 10. No, I'll go sleep at 10, even though I disagree with that passionately. And who was nine again, Mo? Mo Cider. Yeah. Got it.
Starting point is 00:25:16 All right. Rose over here trying to put Victor Headman in this. top 10 right now. He should be, dude. After he played 30 games last year. I cannot wait. I cannot wait until Hedman's season this year. It's going to be incredible. Again, I love Hedman and have been defending him for years because people are like, Hedman's old now, and I'm like, Hedman is still one of the best defense from the league. And I do really appreciate how they have him on this list, because they know. But it's going to be, it's going to be my, I cannot wait. This is going to be my I
Starting point is 00:25:42 watch this year. Hedman. I'm going to dance on graves. So, okay, the next one, Dan, like I did with like, yeah, tell that to the fucking shrimp picture. You bitch. The way that that gets rewritten in history, like, everyone's like, oh, yeah, Dan had to eat the shrimp. And I'm like, because I generously gave you playoffs. Okay, the next one is goalies. And the NHL Network actually only listed 10, but I put in some other names for us to debate because they fucking forgot some people.
Starting point is 00:26:13 NHL Network, top 10 goalies. Vassie, Helly, Shesty, Sorokin. Sway, L.T. Otter, Darth Fladar, the Great Wall of St. Paul, and Dobish. Names not listed. Markstrom, Bussie, Blackwood, Wedgwood, Bob, Allmark, Spencer Knight, I threw in there, Saros. Number one, Mpting Netter's official list. I don't know how you don't go hellie, number one. He's the best goalie in the league. I think he's got to be. After Olympics, it's tough to say. this because we're you know we're having all these conversations about you know headmen being
Starting point is 00:26:53 injured not playing um slavin being injured and not playing but i mean like hellie is just he is the guy he's the best going to league he's one he he did jim craig level things in milan and he's got to be one then like i don't i know vassie just is the reigning uh venezna winner but i don't need him too I also think Chesty, well, we'll get to that. But in that top, yeah, the big boy table. Finish that thought, dude. Finish that thought, because I want you to be very careful.
Starting point is 00:27:31 I just think Chesterste gets, Chesdy had this one insane year and then now is automatically, he's like Merrill Streep, like she acts in something and they go, Oscar Numb. And I'm like, well, was she good? You want to your mind? I take. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:45 I think the New York Rangers have been. mid for the last five years and Chesty has covered up their midness and made people think that they're good and it goes to show how insanely amazing Chesteris. That actually also might be true. I have fought tooth and nail the last few years. I think Chesterty is many times. I was like he is the number one goalie in the NHL and no one gives him credit. So do you want him at two?
Starting point is 00:28:13 No, because I want to be honest about the last, you know, again, it's not recency bias, but it's also a factor. Yeah, but you're right. Like, he has been good, even as the Rangers have sucked. Yeah. And they just give up a billion shots. And also, Vassi's been a little leaky. Like, he goes through these really hot stretches. So leaky, dude.
Starting point is 00:28:34 But he's been a little leaky. So I don't need him too. And also, I have never been more proud of someone than I was a Vassie with after Coop's comments this past season. And when Vasi was like, I don't like any of this at all. I'm sick and tired of the excuses. We fucking lose in the first round every single time now, and it's got to stop. I was like, hell yeah. Good for you.
Starting point is 00:28:54 But I don't really know who's in the two conversations. Like who is in the two conversation? Vasi, Shesti, Sorokan, Sway. Yeah, I think so. I think that's it. And at the end of the day, I think we do just have to go Vasi here because I always, as we talk about, the NHPA polls every year, the way guys just fear Vasi. and talk about him tells you everything you need to know.
Starting point is 00:29:15 Like he is, he is out of this world. God, I wonder if that's like the buy it. Like, you know, they're doing the same thing we're doing where we're just like, oh, yeah, they're so good. I would, I would think that, but at the same time, they're shooting on these guys every day. True, true, true, true. You know? So you would go Vasi 2, Shesty 3, or would you go Shesty 2, Vassie 3?
Starting point is 00:29:35 I think I go Vasi Shesty. I think I go, Heli, Vasi, Shesty. And frankly, I'm probably prepared to go Surrecy 3. I'm probably prepared to go Sorokin. I mean, this is again where, like, I'm impressed with the network, dude. Like, I would probably, I'm not changing that much here. I think my five is helly, vassie, shesty, Sorokin sway. Dude, Sorokin is such a funny one to me because I'm, everybody says he's nasty.
Starting point is 00:30:02 So he clearly is. But it's always like, I don't, when I'm watching it, they kind of just like the islanders have a mid record. It's kind of what you were saying about with Chesty, where it's like, it's not his fault, but they will just be bumbling along and I'm like, oh yeah, Sorokin. There's the guy everyone says is so good. And then at the end of the year, he always has the numbers to back it up. So I'm like, I guess everyone else is right.
Starting point is 00:30:21 But it feels like they should be better if he was as good as everybody says. I know it's wrong. I'm just telling you that's what it feels like. It's funny. When you look at like his safe percentage last year was significantly lower than some of those other guys. Like everyone's kind of floating around like the 9-12. I think Chesty was 9-12.
Starting point is 00:30:40 I think, I mean, Hellie was bad last year. Yep. But, like, I think Vasi and Chesterste were both like 9-12 and Sorokin's like 9-06, but also he led the league in shutouts. Yeah. And Sorokin's also just him, dude. Like, he has games where I'm like, this guy can never be scored on, ever. Like, I want to jump sway over him in a way, but I also hear Islanders fans exploding through the screen right now being like, you are a fucking biased idiot.
Starting point is 00:31:09 I don't know, dude. Islanders fans are so legit. And they've also been, like, not last year. But years prior, Islanders fans were being, like, honest about Sorokin. They were like, a Sorokin? Because, like, remember there was that period where, like, Varlamov was playing over Sorokan. Yeah, right, Dan. Thank you. Like, that's what kind of rattles me. Okay, remind me when we finish the goalie section, I have an awesome piece of news for you guys. Wow. Okay, do you want, then you want to go Sorokan? I just told you exactly what I want to do one through five. So you like the first, you, okay, yeah, so we're going to just switch Heli, Heli, Vasi, Shesty, Sorokin Sway.
Starting point is 00:31:44 Yeah. I think it's then LT, no question. And then I think, I mean, the love that Vlodar is getting is so awesome. Vlodar and Walshed and Dobesh. I am shocked are on this list. I think Dobech should be higher. I completely agree with Evan, dude. Okay, wow.
Starting point is 00:32:07 Also, the way that Dobesh showed how little he gives a flying fuck last year. Some of his interviews, I was like, oh, this man's sick in the head. He was giving Binnington vibes. Oh, 100% Binnington vibes, truly. Okay, but look at those honorable mentions. You don't have anyone in there. Like, what about, yeah, tell me your honorables again. Markstrom, Bussie, Blackwood.
Starting point is 00:32:35 No, yes. Blackwood and Wood. Wedgwood are the ones like I know some of our Avs fans are listening right now and being like how do you not have either of those guys won? Like people would say I agree with it. I respect you for bringing up Blackwood but I think Wedgwood is the one that Avs fans
Starting point is 00:32:50 would be like dude Wedgwood should have remember they were losing their mind that he wasn't a Vezna finalist. Yep. So yeah. Then you have Bob Olmark, Soros, Spencer Knight like these guys are nasty. Bob is the boss like Bob
Starting point is 00:33:05 like we're saying Bob is not a top six goalie. Yeah, like that feels crazy to me. And also, can I say something right now that's going to make Toronto fans rip their fucking hair out? Legitimately, Bob being on the Leafs now and not the Panthers drops him like 10 points on my list. I mean that passionately.
Starting point is 00:33:26 I mean that with love. No love. Yeah. Soros for me, no. I know he is that good, but I just, the last few years I need more. It was that good. Marky, no. he's got to show up in Florida in a big way.
Starting point is 00:33:40 Bussy, like, yes, but also I need to see next season. Like you're the guy now, Bussie. Show me. I mean, you're unbelievable. Like Walshead, you don't need to see next season, but Bussy, you do? Like, you know what I mean? No, dude, because there was a 20 game stretch where Walshstead was not only the best goalie in the NHL, he was the best player in the NHLH. Yeah, that's true.
Starting point is 00:34:00 That's true, yeah. And also, like, Wladar, though? Lidar, like Bussie's not better than Lvdra. Yeah, I feel that way about Vlodar, too. And I'm not. just saying that because I hate the flyers. I was going to say Evan, Evan. The one thing, though, is, like, Vlodar became the guy, right?
Starting point is 00:34:14 Like, he went to Philly and was like, everyone talked about how Philly did not have a goalie, period. And Vlodar went, yes, you do, it's me. I'm also going to win a playoff series and beat Sidney Crosby and then get a fucking ticket. Like, that, I think he deserves to be on this list. I would just swap him with Dobesh then, though. That's... Yeah. Olmark, no, for me.
Starting point is 00:34:37 but like obviously he's in top 20 and in this conversation Spencer night's the big one for me I I believe in Harvey Dent's I believe in Spencer night in a heavy heavy way um like I said dude I don't know by the way CP if you saw um it's funny all of the the little baby boys and girls who are mad about the spike ball thing also uh we're just featured in a black cox video like hyping them up because I'm like yeah dude like we love this team and Connor like what that's sick what was confused about the spike ball joke um but in that yeah i believe in spencer night but yeah is he in this top 10 that one i can probably hear i i legitimately believe he is going to be better there's a honeybee inside my brain right now let him live dude i'm let him live the bees are dying dan no not uh the yeah not yeah true um the i believe legitimately that spencer night is going to be better than a of, not a lot, but some of these guys in this list. You want to talk about future Vezna finalists, brother?
Starting point is 00:35:42 But I, but I, fair enough, I can't do it now. Yeah. Where are you at on your guy, Otter, dude? We're locking in LT at 6, right? Yep. Dude, Otter can, I put, I pushed all my chips in. I pushed all my chips in on Otter last year. And it didn't work.
Starting point is 00:35:58 And I got beat, dude, and I went home crying. So he can slip. It's like a Miro thing for me. He can slip. I still think the talent's there, obviously, but I'm like, dude, I'm not just going to give you this resume thing anymore. Yeah. So you don't want anyone.
Starting point is 00:36:12 You don't want Bob in the top 10. You don't think Bob's a top 10. I think I do want Bob in the top 10. But like, then who's out? That's what I'm trying to say. Because what's been funny with Bob is even the year that they won the cup, we were talking about how- He has bad regular seasons.
Starting point is 00:36:25 Yeah, he is leaky. And then he just locks in the playoffs. And then last year, like, he was hurt and they stunk. And he was just like, I don't care about hockey. Yeah. And now he plays for the Leafs. That's so crazy, dude. I can't believe.
Starting point is 00:36:36 believe that. Insane. The big one for me is how detrimental was the abs getting swept by Vegas for Scott Wedgwood? Right. Well, are we even talking about those guys? Like, do you want to start talking putting Wedgwood in? Or is Bob the only one we're adding in? The only people on this list that I would like to talk about are Scott Wedgwood and Spencer Knight.
Starting point is 00:36:59 And Bob. And Bob. So you could just knock Vladar, Walshead, and Dobish out and put those three guys in. yeah but I don't think I would do that yeah I don't think I'm ready to go to Spencer night I'm not ready to go Wedgwood just because of like sometimes goalies get a hot year you know and like he's never been that good and then was nasty last year
Starting point is 00:37:22 he was so good last year man crazy like Evan can you look up Scott Wedgwood's numbers from last year really quick yeah you got like I want to see what Wedgwood's goals against and his save percentage was because like all the all of the complaints, right, of like, oh, it's because of the team in front of him. There's part of me that's like, well, dude, you instill confidence in your players in front of you as a good goaltender. You can't, it can't be just one way or the other.
Starting point is 00:37:49 And I thought he was really good in playoffs in the first couple of rounds. You want his playoffs numbers? No, I'd love his regular season numbers, because they were phenomenal. But it's just like... 45 games played, 31 wins. Four shutouts, goals against the average, 2.02.921 save percentage. That's like, dude, those are moronic numbers. He wins the best that if he played more.
Starting point is 00:38:21 Like, I think literally they were just maddy split time and they were mad. Yeah, and like, what was that? He played 45 games and like these other guys played like 55 and people are like that. Yeah, I know that's a lot of games more. But, oh man, like to me, 202 is so dumb. It's crazy. And then, what was it, 9-21? I mean, like, he was insane last year.
Starting point is 00:38:44 Like, I can't believe Wedgwood isn't on this list. But, and it's because- Okay, actually, you're right, dude. We might have to put Wedgwood on the list. Yeah, like, I think it's genuinely just because. And Bob, dude. And you know what, dude, I'm, because I don't have the, we have, we were, we were, I put on a clown nose and forever pledged fealty to the Florida Panthers.
Starting point is 00:39:06 But given that Bob is not. a panther anymore i don't feel the necessity to to put him on for him and after i mean you said it man yes he locks in in the playoffs but like he's had two or three regular see like mid regular seasons in a row and now what does it also say that the the cats were kind of like there's taking markstrom they were like you can leave dude yeah that's kind of wrong thing okay so then and dude is Walshsted, like, is he nasty? Is he better than Otter? Is he, like, is he now about to be the best player alive? Walshdad, I think, I think he's awesome. And to be able to come in and also cuck your countrymen and steal that job from Gustafson is insane. But he needs to show it to me one more time. Walsstead, Walsh did Walsh in Dobech and Vlidar. Like, if I'm bumping anyone off that list, what's tough about
Starting point is 00:40:06 Walshed and Dobesh is like, really I have one year of sample size. The Dar, I have more, but also like this was kind of only the one year of a certifiable starter. Agree, agree. So, I mean, gosh, I don't know, dude. Okay, so Bob out. Bob's out. Wedgwood Inn? I think we literally have to.
Starting point is 00:40:34 Wedgewood in. Say what you want about the tandem and an, and, about recency bias, but like what Scott Wedgwood did last year in the regular season. And don't forget, he won two playoff series. Yeah, yeah. That's what I mean. Okay, Wedgwood in. Otter is going to go seven. I was ready to drop him even lower, but he's going to go seven. He's still there. Yeah. Then it's, I'm going, I think maybe then in that case we would go Wedgwood eight. If we're going in Wedgwood, then you have to believe in it. You know, like, there's no point of being like Wedgwood's 10. Like, we're either going Wedgwood is nasty and he should be up there.
Starting point is 00:41:06 No, I think Wedgwood is 10. dude, I don't know about that. Like, if we think he's that good, then he's better than Walshsted and Dobesh. Well, because here's the tough thing about Walsstead is Walshstead had moronic numbers. Or not moronic. No, they kind of fell off. I looked at it. 9-1-5-save, 261-1 goals against.
Starting point is 00:41:25 Yeah, to start the year, he was like 1-19 in like the first half of the year. You know, I was like, Jesus, fuck. And, like, how many games did Walshed play? 35. Yeah. And see, like, Dobech played 43 games. Yeah, I'm jumping Dobesh. But Dobesh had 278-901.
Starting point is 00:41:44 Like, you know, those aren't that. Yeah, I guess he was just kind of dialed in playoffs. You know? So dialed, though. Like, that's it. Okay. And he has sick. Then, dude, yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:53 Then we're going Wedgwood 8, dude. We're going Wedgwood 8. Otter 7, Wedgwood 8. And then do you want to go Dobesh 9? Because of his sick thoughts? Yes. Walsed 10, Vladar out. I don't want to do any of that.
Starting point is 00:42:09 I don't want to take Vladar out. Then Vladar 10, Walseddead out. No. Okay. Again. No. Disavow. I disavow all of this.
Starting point is 00:42:19 I have not, I am not, I'm not even here. Okay, great wall 10. Ladar out. Yeah, okay. I'm going to, we're going to eat those words because. I love Lada. I love Lerda. This will inspire him.
Starting point is 00:42:36 Now we just, now Evan, we just, Fucked Evan. We just inspired of Ladarin to have the greatest season of his fucking life again. He's going to PR again. And now the flyers are going to the Eastern Conference Finals minimum because of what we've done here today. Yeah. And I'm going to have to live in shame. Done. Yeah. You know that you did this. So what was what was one through six again? Helly one. Yeah. Vassie two. Shesty three. Seroken four. Sway five. L.T. Oder 7 Wedgwood 8 Dobesh 9 Walsed at 10 Okay cool And then listen to this voice Can't believe Wedgwood went up to 8
Starting point is 00:43:20 That was unbelievable Yeah good for him Before we take an ad break I got some I got some info from my Islanders insider Okay You know who you are
Starting point is 00:43:33 I don't want to name names Because I don't want to You can't out your source you know Dan, this is about the jersey. The fan jersey. Yeah. There's been, there's a conspiracy theory. We have, we have a conspiracy theory going around.
Starting point is 00:43:50 The vast majority, vast majority of the fan base wants the lighthouse to win. Everyone has wanted a lighthouse jersey for a while. So there's a ton of buzz. It blew every design out of the water in every round. until this last round. And now it's looking like it's coming in 50-50. The conspiracy theory is the Islanders had already picked the one that says, Isles or Islanders, whatever the fuck.
Starting point is 00:44:20 They already picked the one they want, and they've just been skewing the numbers and the graphics to make it seem like the fans are voting for that one, rather than it being predetermined, but it's all rigged. And there were a lot of very questionable posts that they put out throughout this whole process, but the one that solidified it for everybody is I told and I told you this Dan last episode there's a Matt Barzell video of him looking at the two jerseys and going I want this one which would obviously few a skew a fan base when you're like oh that's our dog wants this one but the thing is Dan they posted it that Barzell video the morning when the semi-final voting had just closed 20 minutes ago so they were like how would you have already got and Matt Barzell in studio to discuss the finalists and then edit that video and post it when the vote was open till fucking 20 minutes ago. It was Matt Barzell just sitting in studio waiting for it to close. So it was it's complete bullshit. He's talking about the design,
Starting point is 00:45:20 everything, picking which when he wants. So after that came out way too quick to it to being over, everyone realized that it's been rigged and it's all over for the finals because they know no way they could have got Matt there. Your thoughts. I think that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of my life. Also, the lighthouse already won. Okay, but this is an interesting conspiracy there. I do think the islanders were pushing this. Yeah, I think it's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of my entire life. But wait, so the lighthouse did win. Yeah. And I, but did, why, how was Matt there? That's insane. Dude, he's like at practice every day, skating. Like, what are you talking about? This is a bad, and I'm a conspiracy theory. This is a bad conspiracy. Like, I think it tracks, dude.
Starting point is 00:46:00 Because I, no, because like, he didn't say, like, of the two finalists, he was just like, this is the one I like. Like, there were four left, and he looked at one and was like, I like this one. No, they do. In his video, they go, here are the two finalists. And he goes, I want this one. Well, that, just because that, like, they know. Maybe they had the numbers in and they knew that. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:46:18 Yeah, it was a big enough lead. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Kind of like when they called election early. Yeah, yeah, we're giving Minnesota. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:25 Yeah. There is nothing. There's no conspiracy here. There are no conspricy here. I think the islanders. I think the Islanders pushed really hard to cheat and then they failed. And now the fans get what they want, which was the point of this whole thing. So that's good.
Starting point is 00:46:37 Disavow. I'm staying on track of disavow. Chris, talk to us about BetMGM. You know what time it is, everybody. It is BetMGM time. And if you have not signed up for BetMGM yet, what are you doing? Because I am offering you that bonus code netters. It's N-E-T-T-E-R-S.
Starting point is 00:46:55 And when you use that, you get up to $1,500 in a new player offer on your first wager. That is ridiculous. It is so simple. All you have to do is download the BETMGM app. And then when you sign up, you plug in that bonus code netters, any T-T-T-E-R-S. Then you just deposit $10.10 or more. Place your first wager on literally anything. Any game you want, whatever obscure sport, any parlay money line you pick.
Starting point is 00:47:17 If that bet loses, you receive up to $1,500 in bonus bets. If it wins, congratulations. It was a great bet. And if you lose, you still win. It's unbelievable. Then you can do all kinds of fun stuff. They got the odds boost tokens. They got the parlays, the same game parlays.
Starting point is 00:47:29 They have the second chance promos, which are epic. There's so many more. It's insane. You are missing out. Get in on the action right now with us. BetMGM, make it legendary. I'm just looking at the center list right now. And again, I'm not trying to rush you here, but remember when I was saying like NHL network?
Starting point is 00:47:47 Kudos. Yeah. I'm going to be real with you. You think there's more debate with the wings. I'm going to be real with you here, CP. I'm going to do our MT Nettors top 10 centers in the league breakdown right now. Ready? Yep.
Starting point is 00:47:59 One is Connor, two is Nate Dog, three is Mac, four is Leon, five is Sasha, six is Ikes, seven is Sid, I am bumping Austin out. And I'm doing, I am doing eight is Nick Suzuki. I'm doing nine is Jack Hughes. And I'm doing 10 is Leo Carlson. And that is our list. Wow, dude. Your thoughts. Um, okay. I love the. stones of putting Mac two or sorry three uh by the network he is not it that it is not even a question and i will also say this the the way guys in the league talk about him now is so awesome like certified all-star vets we've had conversations with and they've been like this he's the third best player in the n hl and i'm like that is so cool to hear i'm like oh my god it's insane so good.
Starting point is 00:48:58 Insane. So I'm with you. One, two, three. McDavid, Nate, Mac. Okay. We're good with that. Four is Crosby. No, four is Leon, and I just can't do this with you.
Starting point is 00:49:12 No, it's Sid. Everybody knows it's Sid. This happens all the time. Every year they do this. And then everyone does... You just reference the player poll then. The player poll, they go, if you could have one guy on the ice, and literally everyone goes, it's Sid.
Starting point is 00:49:23 He is the most impactful player on the ice. He didn't play in the gold medal game, and it cost Canada. It cost Canada everything and gave me everything. I can't do this with you every year. I can't. I truly can't. It's like, I'm just right every year.
Starting point is 00:49:34 No, we're not talking about Sid. I actually want to, I don't even want to tease this. I remember I sent you, I'm not going to say what it was, but I sent you a video the other day and I was like, we need to do videos like this year, this year. Oh, yeah, yeah. One of those videos we're going to do is an appreciation of Sid video. Yeah. So like, this is not about Sid. This is about Leon.
Starting point is 00:49:54 And I'm so, I'm so tired, dude. I'm exhausted, Chris. Every season I do this with you where you question Leon Drys Heidel, and I'm done. He is incredible. He's just not quite as good as Sid. And that's nothing to be upset about. Like, Sid should frankly be one. Because he's not as talented these guys, but he's more impactful. I'm not sad.
Starting point is 00:50:14 But Sid is four. I'm just disappointed. Sid is six because... Nope. He's got to be four. Dan, he's got to be four. No. They all would say it, dude.
Starting point is 00:50:27 They would go, we needed Sid. That made all the difference. I don't care, dude. I watched Sidney Crosby lose to the Philadelphia Flyers in the playoffs this year, okay? Sorry, Evan. That was unnecessary. Salt in my wound. I cannot believe you just said that out.
Starting point is 00:50:41 Well, it did happen. But part of this, too, is what have you done for me lately, right? Yes, and he's also 40, Chris. Doesn't matter. Put it at five. No, because here's the thing. I have a genuine question of, and the only reason I don't have Sasha over Leon is because he missed the entire season. But like, I'm also not willing to go sit over Sasha.
Starting point is 00:51:08 Sasha Barkov is insane. He's, he's like almost as good as Sid. It's crazy. He's that good. He's like, he's so good that he's almost as good as Sid. Okay. Which is such a compliment. Sid four.
Starting point is 00:51:21 Leon five. Yes. Leon five. And do you want to go? You are, you are, I'm so glad I'm not in the same country as you. Like, it's just unbelievable. I feel like you want to strangle them through the Zoom camera. I planned this, Evan, I planned this episode, Evan, on purpose, so we wouldn't, I know, across a desk.
Starting point is 00:51:42 Yeah, I just couldn't, I couldn't be in arm's reach. It's unbelievable. You know how I feel about Sid. I love Sid, so. Sid four, Leon 5, do you want to go Eichol, Dan? No, it's higher. It's, no, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, Listen, I have had this, like, debate a billion times of, like, I'm like, Jack Eichel is a top five center in the league.
Starting point is 00:52:02 And then people are like, this, is he? And we obviously have Connor and Nate every year. And then fucking my son decided to show up and become a top three player in the league overnight. So that made things more difficult. But Sasha just does too much. I mean, he's perfect. He does too much for me to deny it. And Leon is, again, dude, like Leon had only played 65, fuck.
Starting point is 00:52:25 fucking games last year and had 97 points. Like, Leon, dude, he is just inhuman as well. So. Do you think there's anything, though, to Dan? And I'll be really interested to see what happens this year because he just had a, there was a cool NHL.com article with Leon where he may have a ton of quotes about Babs and all this stuff. And he said everything that we've been hearing that he was like, I can't wait for Babs to hold Connor and I accountable. That's what's going to change everything, blah, blah, blah.
Starting point is 00:52:49 But I'm just, what I find interesting, Dan, and obviously, like, Leon is disgusting, right? Like, I am well aware. But I just, it's an interesting debate to me because I'm like, Jack Eichael could also have 140 points every year. But he plays a more complete game and has more success. I agree with that. So I'm kind of like, is Leon automatically better than Jack Eichael when Jack Eichael is, I'm like, he could do that too.
Starting point is 00:53:13 He just chooses to win. So I'm like, why are we like, Leon is automatically for it? Because we're just point horse. Swap them. You just got me. And I don't know if that's right. I'm just. No.
Starting point is 00:53:25 you know what I will swap though I just I was like it's only because of the injury I forget the injury he came back in one worlds immediately I am going Sasha over Leon okay so Sid 4 thank you
Starting point is 00:53:41 Leon or Sasha 5 Sasha 5 and then Ikele 6 oh Eichol 6 Leon 7 and now and now he's free falling now it's like Aaron Rogers at the draft you know and you're like who's going to take him I just
Starting point is 00:53:57 interesting debate, Dan, is all I'm saying, because, like, Iicle could literally do that. And we would all go, Eichael's amazing. He scores 130 points every year. And here's the thing, Barkov could do it too. Yeah. So I kind of, I just get hyped. Barcov literally chooses to shut down Connor and Leon and then win cups. And dude, if Babs somehow gets through these guys and they both have 100-point seasons and they win a cup, I will go, wow, like, you know, Leon can, they can do it all. You know, who knows? If my grandmother had wheels, she would be a bike. She'll be a bike. And these are also like the seven best players in the league we're talking about. So it's like, it's really hard.
Starting point is 00:54:32 But it's an interesting thought exercise is all I'm saying. Let's do it. Jack, then Leon, because Leon, you haven't come on the show yet. Jack's our guy. So Jack. Okay, yeah, there we go. Leon, open invite. Do you want to come on the show?
Starting point is 00:54:47 We'll have a couple. Boom, now you're four. Yeah. Yeah. If fuck you, Sid, then you've got to come on the show, Sid, and then you'll go up to one. How about that? Very simple. Very simple stuff here. Simple bath here.
Starting point is 00:54:59 And then, dude, Matthew's out feels insane. No, it's not, dude. I'm so sick and tired of this shit. And this is a guy who just captained Team USA to a gold medal. And they all said he does more than you could ever realize, than your little pea brains could ever realize. I know, dude, but I'm sorry. And again, like, he were, you know, he missed some time this year, but, like, he had 53 points this season.
Starting point is 00:55:22 It's just like another underwhelming year for the Toronto Maple League. I'm so proud of him and love him for the way he locked in with Team USA. And like you could say you could try to make the argument that I did the same thing with Jack Hughes. But as we said, after the Olympics, Jack Hughes was literally the best player in the NHL. He only played 61 games last year. After Milan, he came back and was the most electric player in the league. He had 77 points last year, 50 apples. Like he is...
Starting point is 00:55:50 I forgot about that. I will actually give you Jack Hughes eight here. You, you're just... I told you to just sit back and listen to me, dude. All right? And you've already changed so much. So just shut up. And the end here is Suzuki, Hughes, Leo.
Starting point is 00:56:10 And we're done. We're done. Do you want Leo Carlson over Austin Matthews right now? Ab so fucking lootly, brother. And I am telling you right now, if you think that that's wrong, you're nuts. If I'm starting a franchise, I am taking Leo over Austin. Listen, dude, I will, you gave me Sid, so I have used all my chips on this round. He's the second highest played player in the league.
Starting point is 00:56:32 That's true. He should be two. It should be Mac, Leah, one, two. Well, actually, he's technically one, right? He's technically one, because Mac doesn't kick in until next year. Oh, true. Yeah, yeah. I like that.
Starting point is 00:56:42 Leo Mac. Okay. Leo Carlson 10, Austin Matthews out. And you know, hey, Austin, you know the rules. Just come on the show. And then you're back in. Just come on the show. Goodbye.
Starting point is 00:56:54 Yeah. Pay to play. here. And Austin, like, you know, you have an open invite. We've told you that. I love, dude, Matthews is, I can't believe I just did that, but I can't fight. I did Sid. Okay, so that's the centers. Yeah, let's do some wings, quick. Wings. NHL Network. Cooch, Pasta, Krill, Marner, Rambor, Rambon, Rambon, Mathew Kachuk, Kovone, Cole Coughfield, Willie Nealander, Kyle Connor, Bradman, Hagle, Reiner,
Starting point is 00:57:19 Natchez, Gensel, Keller, Brady Kachuk, Cutter-Gotier, Lucas Raymond. Okay, amazing. I'm going to maybe blow your mind here. Number one in the league, David Posternach, and it's not close. It's not close. It certainly is, because Nikita Kuthrov is,
Starting point is 00:57:38 probably the best living player. I am so done. I am so done with Kooch. I'm so done. I just hate his playoffs. And it's fair. It's a fair take. And I will never, I will never forgive him for it. I'm so done with Cooch.
Starting point is 00:57:51 And like, coming from two guys who we literally put out a video once saying that Cooch is the greatest Russian of all time over. Yeah. Yep. Like, that's how delusional we are about Cooch. That's how skilled he is, by the way. I am so done with this guy. And if we're going to give Connor and Leon shit for being just points hoars and then blowing it in the playoffs, how about this fucking. How about this fucking guy?
Starting point is 00:58:15 Really fair. Really fair. Dude, and I get it, man. Like, I love talking to guys in the league, specifically lightning players who are like, dude, he is insane. He is insane. He is so good. But when you are that good, you have a responsibility. You are Spider-Man.
Starting point is 00:58:29 You have to take your great power and turn it into great responsibility, and you cannot keep losing in the playoffs like this. I'm done with him. There's just no way he can be one on my list, dude. When I look at the way David Posternach just has 100 points. every year for the last few years on a very like mid Boston team and like people like dude he had 71 assists last year you have a guy like Morgan geeky scoring 40 goals basically and that's because of David Posnack everyone talks about his shot and his goal scoring ability he's the greatest goal scorer in the history of the Boston Bruins which I believe he's also
Starting point is 00:59:05 a fucking apples man like 71 apples in 77 games are you kidding me pasta should be in the MVP P conversation every single year. He is the most talented player the Boston Bruins franchise has ever had. I mean that. I genuinely mean that. I'm not saying he's the greatest Boston Bruins ever. I think he is the most talented and skilled player the Boston Bruins have ever
Starting point is 00:59:27 had. And the way he is just embraced being a leader is unbelievable. I think he's the best winger in the national hockey league. Okay, sold. I actually loved that, dude. Fucking fire me up. Pasta 1. He's unbelievable, dude. I will go Cooch 2. Let's go Cooch 2 out of respect. Because I really do think, like, even though he has
Starting point is 00:59:46 melted in the playoffs for the last few years, a lot of that's been going against Barkoff, not last year, but, you know, it's just, it's been tough. But he is fucking nasty. And then I'm going to blow your mind at 3, I think. No, you're not. I know what it's going to be, and I completely agree with it. Matt Boldie. Okay, dude, I, I, no, Dan, you're, I'm so glad you just said that. I have Boldie above Carill, which is nuts. I think if we're going to lose their mind about that. Can I say something to you real quick, actually? Yep.
Starting point is 01:00:15 I, for the purposes of this list and us like, you know, getting through this, again, shout out NHL Network. I don't think I, I don't think I have a problem with their 10. Um, three, five, six, seven. You mean all of the 10? I do because my three, my three is going to fucking explode the internet. Okay, here we go. All right, what's your number three, baby? Willie Neelander.
Starting point is 01:00:41 He is fucking. Incredible. He at times is the best player alive. Like he, when he is going, is fucking incredible. He's the third best wing in the league. Dan, are you crying? No, dude. I just, I know why you're saying this.
Starting point is 01:01:00 You're saying this based on a conversation we had with someone very recently. Who would know? He would know. Yes, dude. But he doesn't watch every game like we do. But he's that good, dude. He's that good. He's the third best wing in the league.
Starting point is 01:01:19 It's a motivation issue. I'm sorry. You got to think about what this person said right after that says. Yeah, I do remember that also. The next game, he is literally the worst player on the ice. Like, William Nealander at any moment has the ability to be. It's a big delta. At any moment, William Nealander has the ability to be the best player on the ice in any game.
Starting point is 01:01:43 Like I'm talking playing the oilers, playing the cats, doesn't matter. He is, his skill and talent is top in the league. But dude, I don't care who's wearing the letter on their sweater. We saw that viral clip where he's like telling Austin and Mitch to like shut the fuck up. This isn't junior. And I love that fire from him. But when I know he has that, and he is without a doubt more. In my opinion, he has been the best leaf,
Starting point is 01:02:13 former on those leave teams over the last few years. Like in the playoffs, he's the guy who does show up. He steps up. William Nealander is the best player on that team. And it's, I know. It's no question. But dude, when you are that good, again, you have a responsibility. And there's too often where I'm like, brother, where are you? Like, do you want, were you kidding about Boldie 3 or do you like Boldie 3?
Starting point is 01:02:36 Because I actually do. I was kidding about Boldie 3. That was just my preface of. being like I need boldie up here but I assure you that Willie Nealander is not three I'll go four but I
Starting point is 01:02:55 but then Boldie's three I am dead ass you have like over I'm gonna pee-p-wack Carill I needed a bigger year from Carrel I'm gonna be honest isn't it funny though that he did score 45 goals in your eyeball yeah it's dude he was he was on MVP page
Starting point is 01:03:13 for a minute, you know, so we can't really knock him. I think you're disrespecting Mitch. You know, Mitch, dude, I love Mitch. God, that would have been so sick if you won. I think you're disrespecting Miko Ranton. I think you're disrespecting Matt Boldy. And we're... No, I'm not.
Starting point is 01:03:28 I'm saying I want Boldie 3. Oh, my gosh. Like, I legitimately will go Matt Boldie, bang, three. He's unbelievable. I would do that, but Dan's not going to let me. There is no planet where I'm letting that happen. I also think the guys out of the top 10 on the network list that I do, like I always want to talk about Hakes. He is such a dog.
Starting point is 01:03:56 Higgs, dude. Hags, I can't believe they have him that low. Hague is such a dog. Rhino is such a dog. And then I also think it is insane that 38 goal 100 point Marty Natchez is just 15 on this list. And everyone's just like this. I know. But the guys ahead of them are so nasty, but it's tough.
Starting point is 01:04:13 But yeah, I'm with you, dude. we're in a special place in the league right now. I can't go boldie that high as much as I want to say it. It's just like, I don't know, dude. What do you mean? Then it's got to be ranting in then. Then it's got to be ranting in. Or willie.
Starting point is 01:04:29 I am saying this. I'm putting boldie above krill capris off. Me too. So that's what I'm saying. You want to go rantin in three? Boldie four? I think I want to go Mitch three maybe. Nah.
Starting point is 01:04:46 I think those other guys, like Mitch is so dope. And I love him. And his career arc is so amazing. I need to go rantan in, dude. Rantanin is still like, I'm like, I'll live with that. He's another guy that I'm also like, what are you guys doing? How are you not winning? But like Miko Rantin'nand dude is just like, what do you have, 77 and 64 last year?
Starting point is 01:05:03 And like, he's in a fucking horse. Yeah, he's called Moose for a reason. All right, let's go Rantin'n in four. Rant in three. Yeah, let's go Rantin'3. Let's go, Boldie. Yes. Matt Boldie for.
Starting point is 01:05:15 Yes. Let's go. Willie. Over krill. I don't think so. But I'll go krill 5. Fine. Krill 5. Krill 5.
Starting point is 01:05:29 Nealinder 6, Mitch Marner 7. Okay. Yes. I'm happy with that. I'm happy with that. Jason Robertson 8. Hmm. Guys, he is just like every year, dude.
Starting point is 01:05:44 996 points last year. I know, I know. Are we disrespecting Matthew Chuck? Like, he's been hurt. No, we're only, we're just giving him a. a health pee whack. Okay. Okay, Robo 8.
Starting point is 01:06:01 Because also, Chucky coming back last year and just ripping 34 points and 31 games. That's what I'm saying, dude, like, and he's such a freak. So then we have two spots.
Starting point is 01:06:12 You have Matthew Kachuk, you have Cole Cofield, you have Hegel. I like, frankly, I like Matthew and Cole. Like, if you wanted to bump Matthew out for the injury thing,
Starting point is 01:06:21 I would hear a conversation, but I refuse to do that because he's Matthew Kachuk. Okay. yeah so then haig's just misses rhiner just misses yeah higgs and rhino and natius frankly are for me i'm like they are 10 a b and c
Starting point is 01:06:38 i guess i should we should reward cole for for pumping fucking 50 fucking goals that was awesome okay i'm in i'm in i like it i like it we're locked in hey so that's the definitive

Warning, this product contains nicotine. Nicotine is an addictive chemical. We are back, and I wanted to shout out the Chara's game. happened in Big Z's final shift.
Starting point is 01:08:35 Yes. And it was so sick, dude, because Berg was there, Pasta was there. Hosa actually did his final shift on that, at the same rink a few years ago, which is sick. So he was there, like, doing it, you know, doing it again. Copey was there, had some epic quotes about, like, Z never wants the spotlight, but he deserves it, you know, and he's such a beast. Mark Recky went, but I love that Berg said Ray Bork was there. Ray Bork is like 65 or something.
Starting point is 01:09:07 Look up how old Ray Bork is. Yeah, I don't think he's got old. Is he that old? 50, no. No, I think he might. Yeah, actually, I have no idea. I thought he was looking at. He's got to be, he's 65, yeah, I mean.
Starting point is 01:09:15 Okay, yeah, yeah. Good call Chris. I think I'd read it. It was just triggering in my brain. But, but Berg said that Ray, like, played the whole game. That's awesome. He looks great. Like, he's lost some weight.
Starting point is 01:09:27 Zipping around, dude. Yeah. And that airline, he'll never lose a fucking stitch of hair. in his life. It's amazing, though. It's crazy, dude. He looks phenomenal. Berg looked so good, too. God damn. Yep. Um, Marshy, we already knew this. Brad Marshall had surgery, so he couldn't play. He was supposed to play. Couldn't play anymore. And I don't know what the state of his recovery is, but I was kind of sad he didn't just go. Like, I was like, just, you got to be there, dude. Like, don't play it, obviously, but like. I kind of agree. It would have been nice to see him there. We need you there. So like, that was kind of
Starting point is 01:09:56 bummer. But anyway, um, but what killed me, Dan, is a Petter Check was there. Gass. Dude, I know. And you know what? Copie played with him the other day. Copie was just like chilling with him the other day. Yeah. So cool. That's so awesome. I loved that. But dude, so really cool moment.
Starting point is 01:10:11 I encourage everyone to go check out the clips and everything. But when Z finishes, he has, he does the Tim Riggins, like he comes to the middle of the ice, takes his skates off and then walks off the ice and his socks, you know, as everyone's there by the door. And I was like, man, that's so awesome. And what a great picture. But unfortunately, when I saw that, I was like, I think now you can. can never skate again. You can literally, you can literally never touch ice again, dude.
Starting point is 01:10:37 I couldn't believe he did that because I was like, you've, like, you're done now, dude. Agreed it. You can't skate with your kids. You can't do a charity game. Like, it's all over. You took your skates off and walked off the ice. So yeah, I had the same reaction. I was like, what a beautiful imagery. But I was like, that you just fucked yourself, dude, especially for a guy as psycho as him, who I know is running fucking ultra marathon staying in shape. He's going to want to get back on the ice. And now you cannot. Like, dude, that was cool. But, what cost? And because Dan, what happens like three years from now when Copee does his like final shift game, you know, somewhere? And then he's like, Z, come play. And I'm like, Z cannot play.
Starting point is 01:11:11 He can't. He took his skates off. They're still on the ice. Z coming out, playing that game in shoes, though, would be Numbies. That would be. Like he's just playing ball hockey. Yeah, he's like running. Like we were in gym class in in elementary school. Yeah. Yeah. God. God, he gets those like tacks you can put on like the bottom of your shoes, you know, that they have in like Alaska. He's just running around. I fucking love that. But anyway, as Boston Bruin fans, Z, thank you for the memories, man.
Starting point is 01:11:37 All timer. All timer. God. What a culture shift, dude. That was fucking so sick. I know. He should have won more. He should have. Dan, it was your birthday yesterday as of recording two days ago. Yeah. Yeah. As of listening. You had a bit of a goblin
Starting point is 01:11:55 Severo weekend. Brother. Can you take us through, can you take us through some highlights? Oh, Dude, I went to Friday, I woke up, had a great workout in, and I went full sorority. I was doing a full birthday weekend. Yeah. Friday I woke up, had a great workout, went into the office, did a couple of things, and then I kicked off the Premier League weekend, went to my spot, the King's Head to watch Arsenal Coventry. I got there early, and I assumed it would be packed.
Starting point is 01:12:26 It was not packed. Yeah. Which was actually kind of great. There was some awesome Arsenal fans in there. I got to see my boy Raoul, the awesome bartender there. And I sat down. He gives me a Guinness, as always. And then a Netters fan showed up, sat down at the bar with me and was like, dude, I fucking love Netters.
Starting point is 01:12:45 And I was like, oh, hell yeah, thank you, man. And we started talking Prem. And then he was like, can I buy you a shot? And I was like, yes. It's my birthday friend. It is 11 a. But sure. Have you got me a whiskey shot?
Starting point is 01:12:59 Which I was going to say it had to be whiskey, yep. Not my vibe. But pounded that. Then this dude named Miles, shout at Miles. Miles saddles up to the bar. Miles is like a liquor rep. And he's like doing it. That you didn't know yet?
Starting point is 01:13:14 Or you know. Did not know Miles. Okay. And he's like doing his rounds in his territory. He's saying what up to Raul. Then he and I start talking because he's like, Raoul was asking me about Netters after that fan came up. And he's talking about hockey.
Starting point is 01:13:27 And Miles is from Boston. So like we start talking Boston stuff. He's got a pat's tat on his on his arm. Miles gets me a shot. Another whiskey shot. And I'm like, I'm drunk now. Yeah. This one I texted you, Chris, and I was like, I'm hammered.
Starting point is 01:13:45 Yeah. Miles gets me another shot as he leaves because he's like, it's like on like the company card or whatever. So now I'm like three whiskey shots. And these were like, Rowles pouring them into rocks glasses. So like they're. Yeah. Oh, dude.
Starting point is 01:13:59 Yep. Double goal person. So now, like, I'm, I'm, like, three shots deep and, like, three Guinness is deep, and it's noon. And I was like, I'm blackout. And Coventry's getting murdered. You're like, fuck. It was insane. So did that, went back to the office after the game, chopped it up with the fellas in the edit.
Starting point is 01:14:20 BitLab, who do their 4 p.m. shot. Yeah, they're doing shots. Yeah, yeah. But I was a good boy, dude. I shut it down early because we had a big Saturday. But let me tell you what, dude, Saturday was perfect. It was literally the best birthday of I've ever heard it in my life. Yep, without question.
Starting point is 01:14:33 It was like, woke up, ripped over to Tye's house. We are smashing Rose. Marty shows up. We're kicking it. We go to the Rams game with the best crew ever. Party bus to the Rams game. Yep. All the boys showed up, had a blast at the Rams game,
Starting point is 01:14:53 then ripped the party bus to the South Bay and just did it like we always do, We did the South Bay rounds. Everyone, I will say this, dude. I found myself giggling so often Saturday night because I was looking around the bar. Every single one of us was blackout drunk, obliterated. Yeah. Dude, like, everybody. It was like, the people that we were at the game with, the people who met us at the bar after, like, everyone just like, it was in the air, dude.
Starting point is 01:15:25 It was like in the air of the night. And I'm not saying because it was my birthday. It was just like... It was just like one of these nights. Everyone was so happy to be together that everyone just got pickled. And it was so funny. And yeah, man, yesterday was a bit of a battle. A bit of a battle taking two separate six-hour flights to get to Sweden here.
Starting point is 01:15:46 But listen, sometimes the only way out is through. So we had a couple of beers at the airport bar, had some wine on the flight, and made it. Now here we are. So it was great stuff. dude that is so awesome it's it's just the gang coming together dude that's all i've ever asked for you know you don't need extravagant parties you just want you just want some good people around c p i will say this like again we could do a full episode on what went down on that birthday but we we shan't do that evan chris as you know suffers from fomo pretty bad and the boys and chris
Starting point is 01:16:20 you know it wasn't me yeah fuck you it wasn't you dude i know exactly what fucking happened and it was you and this is bullshit, dude. No. It was Loop and you know it was Loop. But Luke, that might be true. Yes. Loop was like, we have to rub this in Chris's face that he's not here. So Loop started like sending Chris text being like, oh, Chris, you got to be here.
Starting point is 01:16:43 Then it turned into videos and then it turned into every new person that joined the birthday glom. Loop was like this. Text Chris. Bro, Kevin. Well, first I got a text from Loop that said, dude, I don't even want to text. hell you about today because you'd be too sad, which is like sneaky mean, but I think he kind of meant it like, oh, we're having fun and I don't want, I promise I won't rub this in your face.
Starting point is 01:17:04 Unless your imagination run wild. Correct. Yeah. And then for the next fucking four hours, I'm just getting texts from all my boys that's like this, dude, where are you? Dude, are you not coming? Dude, are you not in town? Dude, how are you missing this?
Starting point is 01:17:14 And I was like, shut the fuck up. Dude, do you hit your brother? What's going on? Yeah, yeah. It was awful, dude. And I will say this, he like didn't respond to anyone for so long. and then he finally responded with for 37 years of Dan's life
Starting point is 01:17:29 he has hated his birthday and refused to do anything fun and then the one year I'm out of town he has the greatest birthday of all I have never missed the Dan birthday dude because I'm older than him like I have attended 36 straight birthday parties
Starting point is 01:17:40 for this rat fuck and then the one year I do not attend everyone's having the time of their life I was like God damn it dude it was unfortunate like that that is absolutely true so anyway Chris
Starting point is 01:17:52 thank you for your sacrifice you're welcome You're welcome. I'm glad it was a fucking tremendous 10 bell, 10 bell day. Holy hell. Well, meanwhile, I was in Montau for a wedding. Shout out, shout out Naur and Courtney. Unbelevable, unbelievable festivities. Love was in the air. I had two questions for you guys that I wanted your take on. Monta. Have you ever been to Montau, Evan? No, I've only heard of it because there's a thing called the Montauk Monster, which was like some weird shaved dog that like died and showed up on the shore. years ago of Montauk and they were like, what is this mystery animal? I'll see if I can find a picture of that. Yeah, dig that baby up, dude. That's all I remember of ever hearing about it.
Starting point is 01:18:34 Evan, that being your only connection to Montauk is so you and I love you and I love that so much. I'm going to show you. Old Fishing Town, dude, there's always weird lore, you know, like as course. Montauk Monster. Well, it's become overrun by, you know, New Yorkers escaping the city to go off in the Hamptons and order $30 chicken tendees that probably have two tendies in the basket. But it's quite the vibe when you're ripping it up.
Starting point is 01:19:01 So here my two questions for you guys. Friday, I get in, Dan, and the boys at the house I'm with are like, yo, God, there's a DJ. We would love to hit at Surf Lodge, but like, there's just no way we can go. And I was like, actually, dots can probably hook us up still, you know, because he was resident DJ there for a while. So I hit up Dots and I'm like, dude, can you get us dial? And he's like, yeah, Will Treps in town.
Starting point is 01:19:23 like, yes. So then I text Will and Will gets us dialed in. And do you, so the surf lodge is just like this bar, you know, it's their waterfront, their bungalow, you know, whatever. And there's a deck. There's an inside bar, a beach area and a deck. And a ticket, a GA ticket gets you the inside bar and the beach area and the VIP ticket gets you out on the deck and this DJ stage is on the deck.
Starting point is 01:19:49 Obviously that ticket is more expensive than the GA ticket. So we go to look and on Thursday when I was like, oh yeah, let's see if we should go tomorrow. We look and they're like, 250 bucks for the VIP tickets. And then we're like, yeah, maybe we do it. So then Friday morning we wake up to buy tickets and they're now 350 bucks because they get more expensive every day. Should you, is that allowed, dude? Like, why are we have variable pricing? Like, what is the, how much is the ticket, dude?
Starting point is 01:20:19 Why is it more expensive today, you pigs? Absolutely, absolutely hate that. So, so, it's insane. I feel that way about flight, plane tickets. Like the fact that plane tickets just don't have a price is like so insane to me. So hate that, out on that, boo surf lodge for that. Yep. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:20:40 Yeah, go ahead. They call it dynamic pricing is what it's called. That's what it is. Yeah. This dynamic pricing and basically, and this is why your information is so important to companies because they can, like, for example, if they know me as a penguins fan. So if I look up penguins tickets and they know that I love the penguins, they'll charge me more than just a casual person because they have all that information.
Starting point is 01:21:04 So it's kind of nefarious. I mean, there needs to be laws against that shit. Wicked nefarious, dude. Tickets should not be the stock market, dude. Like, you know, this is bullshit. They should have a fucking price. A set price. 100%.
Starting point is 01:21:17 I hate it. I hate it. Dude, so we, and again, the boys hooked us up with like a huge discount. so we weren't paying full price, but the group I was with, I was like, we couldn't stay because we had welcome drinks. So they're like, we don't want to pay for the VIP ticket. Let's pay for the GA. And I'm like, okay. And it's usually packed.
Starting point is 01:21:32 Surf Lodge is like a really popular spot on the weekend or whatever. So we get there and it was really crummy weather. It wasn't like actively raining on us, but it had been raining and was overcast or whatever. So we get there and, you know, the clientele at Surf Lodge is usually quite wealthy type vibe. So we get there. And before the main DJ goes on, people are dispersed. We're out on the beach. They're in the inside bar.
Starting point is 01:21:54 The deck people are mostly on the deck where we can't go. but everyone's kind of popping around. And if you have VIP, you can go everywhere, right? Once the DJ goes on, everyone congregates to the deck who has VIP tickets. And I cannot emphasize this enough. I'm prone to hyperbole, but I'm being 100% serious.
Starting point is 01:22:11 Let's say there was like 300 people there or something. I was with nine people. 291 people had deck VIP and the nine of us had GA. I'm dead serious. So there's like a, a spot on the beach where you can stand on a bench and you're basically right you're like touching the deck but we're on the we're like holding the deck railing from the outside looking in and it's totally fine like we're dancing we can see the DJ all good but it was just us and we just go up to
Starting point is 01:22:40 the bounce and we're like can we go in dude and he was like no oh my god and I'm like dude it's just awesome two people they were just like full stop we were like we'll pay and they were like no dude like he's not available you can't come in here and i'm like dude that is brutal i want the drone footage so badly i'm just like everyone and then just two people in the back i'm like yeah yeah they're like you guys can't come in you guys just insane words pigeon tossed outside that is savage that's mod talk dude that's mod talk bro okay so then then this rolls perfectly into saturday we there's a er fuck was this that this might have been later that night dude this actually all happen to be the same night now that I think about it. The party at Gurney,
Starting point is 01:23:28 Stan, where you've been, obviously. We get sent a private RSVP where it's like, this isn't an open party. This is just like, you're getting sent this thing. You have to sign up, put your name in, and then you also have to put your Instagram in because they have to approve you to see if you're like cool enough to come. I had to put in netters because I was like, if I put my own, they're going to be like deleted. You're a loser. So I put in empty netters. All our friends put in their Instagrams. We send our things to the list. And I slowly, we're getting approved off the list. Like, you know, I get a text like, you're invited.
Starting point is 01:23:58 I'm like, have you guys gotten in yet? They're like, no, not yet. You know, then like eventually someone's like, you're in. Our society is so trash now. Dan, we get there. We all clear the list. I would rather walk up to the door and have a bouncer or person look at me. Like, look me up and down and judge me like a piece of meat and go, you can either come in
Starting point is 01:24:18 or not rather than someone go, put in your social media presence to see if you're worthy of this party. That is so gross. And well, Dan, I got great news for you, bro. We clear the list and I'm like, yes, amazing. We go to the venue and there are people like trying to get in who have not been sent the private invite link. So they're like, you know, they're like pooling in a line, but they're like never getting in. You know, everyone's just like, yeah, go stand over there and they're dead.
Starting point is 01:24:45 And then we are like, we have, we are on the list. And they're scrolling our names and like, yep, you're in. So we move through like the velvet rope to the next velvet rope. And it's, I think there was five of us. And the guy's like, you guys are on the list. We're like, yep, we just cleared it. And he looks at the five of us. And he goes, for you guys to come in, 800 bucks.
Starting point is 01:25:04 What? And I was like, wait, we have been sent. Sorry, I think you think we're not list people. And he's like, no, yeah. Everyone needs to clear our list. Then you come up here. And then I tell you specifically to your group how much it would cost for you guys to come in. That guy's the Montauk monster.
Starting point is 01:25:21 Bro, we were like, geez. Uh, no. And then he's like, okay, leave. And then we just, we bounced, dude. Because I was like, I'm not giving you $800 to come into a list to come to a party that I had to get approved on a list to even come in. Like, what the fuck was that for, dude? It's extortion. Dude.
Starting point is 01:25:38 And I was like, is this going into your pocket? Like, where does this money go? Probably yes. It's happening, dude. Probably yes. Insane, Dan. Like, a mind-blowing operation. I don't know how we put a stop to it, but we've lost the thread.
Starting point is 01:25:52 I like Montauk, but there's too many moments and stories of things like this going on in the Hamptons and Montauk. It's just outrageous, bro. Yeah. Outrageous behavior. All right, Ev, wrap us up here with a nice beer league hotline. All right, here we go. Me and my dad were at our Tuesday game when a guy on the other team had a heart attack in the locker room. Wow.
Starting point is 01:26:17 Starts pretty hard. He was dead for a few minutes and needed. Two, count them two AED shocks, but he was revived. It shook a lot of the players. Some didn't want to skate. Others finished the night. We've all seen injuries over the years, but this one hit different. When something serious happens right before or during a game,
Starting point is 01:26:39 should you keep playing, or should we have called it for the night? Yeah, 100% to play that game. I thought you were going to say leave for sure. I agree with you. Dude, I agree with you. I thought we were going to fight about this. Here's the thing, dude. That is awful.
Starting point is 01:26:59 That is scary. And I understand that it was probably a few people probably got a little bit shook. But the dude's alive. Yep. He came back, Dan. You got to remember this. It's 10 p.m. on a Tuesday. I did not come out on a Tuesday night to the rink to watch a dude almost die and then not get a sweat in.
Starting point is 01:27:19 So I'm going out there. I'm playing this game. thank God he's okay. I'm going to send him a bunch of texts after the game. Dude, that was so scary. So glad you're okay. Let me know if you need anything. I will send all of those messages,
Starting point is 01:27:32 but you bet your ass that I am playing that game. Dan, what's crazy about your response right now is, well, I knew you were going to say that. And what's crazy about your response right now is you're acting like this guy was on your team. I'm pretty sure the message says he was on the other team. And I was going to say, if you were the other team, you definitely want to play
Starting point is 01:27:49 because you're like, oh, that was scary, but I'm playing. But if you're on the team, it's kind of nuts. I'm sure this vibe goes the same, not the same, but you feel this on both teams. Because I'm sure you're out there for warmies and you're like, where is the other team? They're like, a dude's dying in the locker. He's literally actively dead right now. We're trying to bring him back to life. So like they felt it too.
Starting point is 01:28:09 Not as much, but they felt it too. Of course you play that game because also now they're down a guy. Yeah, was he good? But also, well, if he had a heart attack, you might not have been that. great. I mean, if you... Good point. If he had a bad ticker, he probably wasn't skating that hard. Good point. Or maybe he skated too hard. Yeah, right. Do you get credit for the game if your heart attack guy? Because sometimes I'm trying to hit my five game minimum for playoffs. And if he's a game short and I go, well, did I get credit for that game? I showed up and died in the locker room.
Starting point is 01:28:42 I died for this team. Could you imagine if like playoff come around and the league managers like this year actually won a year? That's only four. I literally died in the locker room for this. you're not going to let me play. That would be insane. You should get automatic playoff exemption if you die in the locker of ever. I don't care how many games you played. These guys did the right thing by playing. He would have wanted you to play. And at the end of the day, dude, he's not dead. So get out, get out there, honor him.
Starting point is 01:29:10 You know how mad he would have been if you guys had to forfeit because he almost died? I was just thinking that, Dan. That would have sucked. He would be bummed out. He would go, oh, I cost you guys the game. And we're like, no, dude. We played. We played. We won.
Starting point is 01:29:22 Here's a question. If he has a heart attack during the game on the ice, then do you stop? Because this happened before, which I think maybe makes it easier to do the game. If it happens mid-game, Andy lives. Yeah, Dan, what do you think that? Like literally mid-first period during a shift, he has a heart attack and dies on the ice. They bring the paddles out, bring him back to life. Are you going center ice drop, please?
Starting point is 01:29:48 It totally depends on his state. after the shock. Like if he's like up and he's like, holy shit, that was crazy. And I'm like, he's alive. And they're like, yeah. Then I'm like, we can finish this game. But if he's like going out on the stretcher and they're like, he's touch and go, then I think we don't play. I don't think we go home.
Starting point is 01:30:06 Do you got to go home? This reminds me of like there was like a summer league like NBA game or something or it was like a charity game. And I don't know, this was like 10 years ago. And I think it was Paul George who like had tried a light. up and he fell weirdly on his leg and his leg like broke like a compound fracture like like like like like like his leg went like this like everyone's like and they just canceled the game they they were like we're done we got to go like yeah yeah they're like midgame midgame changes the dynamic yeah for sure because you're like all freaks everybody right yeah yeah what if he what if he would you dan what
Starting point is 01:30:42 if he got paddled comes back to life and then just sat on the bench would you be like you have to go or would you be like dude i respect this again this is like I I have this take too I was actually talking to Marty about this this weekend because I was begging him to come out to beer league and I was like you have to wear a cage and he was like I would get chirped to high heaven and I was like you know what you'd get you'd get chirped for more is if you take one in the jibs and you lose teeth playing a beer league that is like my take is like if you are wearing a halfie or no cage in beer league you are not the hero you think you are because it is not worth literally the price and pain of losing teeth. or getting zips in your face for beer league hockey. It's a good point. I stand by the, it is not worth the badge of honor of being tough to have your heart stop and be like,
Starting point is 01:31:30 I'm finishing the game. So yeah, yeah, got to go. You have a heart attack. You can't sit back on the bench, brother. You got to leave. Well, it sounds like most of them did play. So fucking kudos. And I wish that guy a speedy recovery
