From The Daily News Now Network, this is Corey with entertainment and celebrity news today.
Ryan Coogler picked up his first Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for the film Senors at the 98th Academy Awards.
Fans quickly spotted a clever detail in his appearance.
His cornrows featured a woven guitar design, tying right into the movie's blues music theme,
and its celebration of black art and culture.
The braids came from his regular stylist, Tizana B, based in Berkeley, California,
not far from Coogler's Oakland Roots.
During his acceptance speech, he gave a shout out to his hometown, sharing how he grew up there.
Couglas seemed nervous on stage, asking the crowd to sit down so he wouldn't get played off.
He thanked his fellow nominees for their inspiring films and their friendships built over the years.
Cinners also grabbed another big win that night, with Michael B. Jordan earning Best Actor in his first Oscar nod, too.
It's a full-circle moment for the duo, who first teamed up on Fruitvale Station back in
2013. The movie, released almost a year ago, got a special tribute performance at the ceremony,
highlighting its mix of past and present music influences. The Daily News Now is presented by
