Grateful Dead fans have a new treasure coming their way.
A 10-record vinyl box set of the soundtrack from the Grateful Dead movie just got announced.
It features 44 tracks from the band's five-night run at San Francisco's Winterland Arena in October 1974.
This March the first time it's available on vinyl after a CD version dropped back in 2005.
These shows hold a special place in.
in the band's history. They wrapped up the era of the massive wall of sound speaker system and
came right before a long break from touring until 1976. The performances were captured on film
by director Jerry Garcia and others, making them a key snapshot of the dead at their peak.
Deadheads and collectors are buzzing about this release. Grateful Dead Archivist David Lemieux
called in one of the band's greatest runs with top-notch playing preserved on 16-track tape.
The set includes classics, like Uncle John's band, Truckin, and Darkstar, pulling from nearly every major song in their 1974.
