You're tuned in to entertainment and celebrity news today. 50 years ago today, KIS dropped their fourth studio album, Destroyer, on March 15, 1976. This record took the New York band from Underground Darling's to massive arena headliners. Even now, Rolling Stone listed in their top 500 albums of all time. Before Destroyer, three years of non-stop touring and wild live performances created a die-hard. fan base. Their 1975 live album alive, stayed on the billboard charts for 110 weeks and earned gold status, breaking them into the mainstream. To build on that, they hire producer Bob Ezrin,

Ezrin added orchestral layers, piano, and even a kid's choir, giving the album a huge movie-like sound compared to their earlier raw efforts. At first, some fans pushed back because it strayed from the alive. Energy, as Frutton man Paul Stanley later noted, Over time, though, Destroyer won everyone over big time. More tracks from it end up in KISS set list than any other album.
