I'm Corey with the story, bringing you the latest in entertainment and pop culture.
Only three films and nearly 100 years of Academy Awards history have swept the big five categories,
best picture, best director, best actor, best actress, and best screenplay.
Those rare winners are it happened one night from 1935.
One flew over the cuckoo's nest from 1976 and the silence of,
The Lambs from 1992.
The first Oscar ceremony happened on May 16th, 1935.
It was a quick 15-minute private banquet at the Hollywood Roosevelt Roosevelt Hotel, hosted by Douglas Fairbanks, with winners announced months before.
Today, the show is a massive live event, packed with glamour, monologues, and plenty of debate over snubs.
While seven actors have earned three or more Oscars each, matching all five big categories for a single film remains one of the toughest feats.
Take it happen one night, the first to do it.
Frank Kapper's 1934 romantic comedy stars,
Clark Gable and Quote Colbert, pulling off the sweep despite voting drama that year.
Meanwhile, the other two followed decades apart.
One flew over the cuckoo's nest, starred Jack Nicholson and Louise Fletcher, while the Silence of
the Lambs made history as the only horror film to win.
Best Picture Among its Five Big Victories.
No fourth film has joined them yet.
