It's time for Financial Freedom Friday with Matt Terrio.
Have you been squirling away a percentage of every paycheck into a 401k for as long as you can remember?
That's what we're supposed to do, right? Save for retirement?
But how is that money working for you now? Is it paying you now?
You know, waiting for your 401k to grow is kind of like waiting for grass to grow, isn't it?
I mean, in many cases, that grass is actually receding back into the,
the ground. It's not growing at all. You see, the truth is, you don't have control over its performance.
But instead, you keep hoping that one day, 40 years from now, it'll all work out and you'll have enough
to live somewhat a comfortable retirement. Let me share a story with you about a man named Steve.
You know, Steve diligently allocated a portion of each paycheck to his 401k. He did it for years
because he didn't know any other way to prepare for his retirement. And one of his buddies, however,
Phil did it differently and began investing in real estate during the same period.
And Phil was able to retire himself from his job at an incomprehensibly to most people young age.
Steve thought to himself,
why would I wait 40 years for a maybe when I could have built a definite yes like Phil and four?
That doesn't make any sense.
There's no guarantee that the assets my 401k is invested in will perform.
There's no guarantee at all.
I have no control over their performance either.
Steve wanted more control, and he wanted a faster path to financial freedom.
So, he looked around it as options, thought about what his buddy Phil had done, and then he made an educated decision.
He cashed in his 401k, liquidated his underperforming stock portfolio that he'd been dabbling with for a while,
and was able to purchase a couple cash flowing properties.
Sure, Steve took a couple steps backwards with some moderate tax and early withdrawal penalty.
but he's now moving forward.
He'll recover soon enough,
and his wealth will finally begin to build.
Steve knows that he'll need more properties
in order to actually retire,
but now he's sleeping a little bit better at night
knowing that he's moving in the right direction.
He's hopped into the driver's seat,
and he's now driving down the road to financial freedom
by leveraging his assets and his knowledge of real estate.
In a nutshell, he made the decision to shift his focus
from working for piles of cash to the focus of creating streams of cash.
That's what I want for you.
It's the streams of cash that will set you free, not the piles of cash.
Additionally, the streams will set you free faster, exponentially faster.
And if you catch a snag or two along the way, or even if you flat out mess the whole thing up,
there's plenty of time in your life left to dust yourself off, take note of your mistakes,
and continue to move forward.
You can't say that if you mess up the traditional 40-year plan
because you're out of life by that point.
Listen, whether you choose to make piles of cash
or create streams of cash,
they both require hard work.
And neither are without their challenges.
The difference is,
how long do you want to work hard for?
40 years or four years.
That's the difference.
And that is something to get excited about.
Real estate has produced more millionaires
and billionaires than anything else.
That's common knowledge.
But why haven't you started?
Why is real estate still an uncommon investment?
Not enough time?
Don't know how?
Too much work?
