Hey Matt here from the Epic Pro Academy with another quick tip for you.
In a recent survey, when 100 millionaire real estate investors were asked, where do most
of your deals come from?
86% of their deals came from just four sources.
7% came from foreclosure listings.
9% came from advertising and 10% came from walking and driving neighborhoods.
But 60% of all their deals came from their networks.
And what that conveys is, real estate is indeed a people business.
And not only is every piece of real estate that you buy or sell, that it'll be to or from
another person, 70% of your deals will be referred to you by another person.
It is indeed a people business.
And you know, that may be a no-brainer to you.
I mean, we all know that, right?
But then again, when you think about it, maybe we don't.
I mean, if we did know that, perhaps there would be more effort and investments made in developing
one's people skills for this people business as opposed to the constant and never-ending pursuit
of the easy way to do this business, that elusive silver bullet.
So today, I've actually got a silver bullet for you.
This business can be easy.
And here's how.
You see, people do business in this people business with people that they like, people that
they trust and people that they have confidence in their competence. And that being the case,
and if 70% of the most successful real estate investors deals come from other people, the most
pressing issue and the most burning question inside of your business should be, how do I get
more people to like me, trust me, and have confidence in my competence. So in today's tip,
I have three practices for you that will cause more people to indeed like you. It'll cause
more people to indeed trust you and it'll cause more people to indeed have confidence in your competence.
First, to get people to like you, it's very easy. Just listen more than you speak.
Stop talking so much. We all talk too much. People like to be listened to and they like people that listen to them.
So listen more than you speak. Second, to get people to trust you, this is very easy also.
Just say what you're going to do and do what you say and do it for no other reason than you said you
you were going to do it. I mean, just think what kind of world this would be if everyone
operated in this manner. If everyone just ran around recklessly doing what they said they were going
to do. I'd like to live in that world. Third, to get people to have confidence in your competence,
share your success stories with people. Share stories about how you got out of a difficult jam
and everyone involved got what they wanted. Share those types of stories. But there are three
caveats to sharing your success stories. First, keep your stories short and
sweet. You don't want to go around boring people. Two, don't brag. Nobody likes that person.
And three, only share your stories when asked by another. So when someone ask you, how's it going,
or what's new, or what's up, that's your cue. Don't go to the default, not much, nothing,
same old, same all. Share your successes. And these three simple practices, they're going to put you
so far ahead of the field. It's not even funny. I mean, so far ahead of the field and with regard to
that people will want to do business with you.
They'll want to send you their leads.
Operating this manner, you will attract people to you.
You will attract opportunity.
I mean, these are such attractive qualities in a person,
and they are so simple to do.
But they are equally simple not to do.
And because they're simple not to do,
most people don't do them.
That's how you're going to stand out.
So to sum it up, one, listen more than you speak.
Two, say what you're going to do and do what you say.
And three, share your successes.
And the last tip, be patient.
Relationships, they take time to build.
But they don't take that long, especially when you're operating in this manner.
So make an investment in your people skills.
Make an investment in your relationships.
