Starting point is 00:00:37 Here's Matt. Hey, Matt here. Welcome to another episode of the Epic Real Estate Investing Show. It is way back Wednesday. This is the day where we reach back into the archives and pull out old classic episodes. And we've been reaching back into the archives of the Do-Over podcast, the podcast that started it all. And I got another great one for you today. Enjoy.
Starting point is 00:01:03 During an era where countless people, businesses, and organizations are feeling the pinch, running out of time, running out of money, losing confidence, feeling as if life is unfair, praying for another chance, and unless something is done, life is going to pass them by. Fortunately, in the nick of time, there is now a place where the ignored, underestimated, and unknown steps to producing results, and making life work are revealed. Save your career. Save your business. Save your health. Save your relationships. Save your life. Get from where you are to where you want to be, faster and with greater ease than you ever thought possible. Say hello to your do-over.
Starting point is 00:01:56 Welcome to Your Do-Over, coming to you live from downtown Los Angeles, and this is the place where I show people who want more out of life, people dissatisfied with their current situation, how to start over and begin a new life, setting goals and objectives so they can create wealth and live life to the full. You can jumpstart your do-over and lay a solid foundation for a better life by downloading the three pillars of creating the ultimate do-over for free at freedover.com. It's a 55-minute MP3 audio program that I made just for you with three specific steps
Starting point is 00:02:27 on how to get success as you start over. The three pillars of creating the ultimate do-over will put the legs under your table, they will lay the foundation for you to achieve, and they will act as your traveling success coach, and they are yours for free at free do-over.com. Now, this past week, I sent out a survey to my email list asking a specific question, what are the three biggest challenges you are currently facing in your do-over? And the answers I received were surprising. But then, they weren't.
Starting point is 00:02:57 Initially, they were somewhat surprising because I have covered just about every topic of what's ailing those of you that responded. I mean, your answers lie literally within episodes 1 through 30. But then I got to thinking, and actually, then I went. wasn't surprised because as I frequently have experiences where I hear something, I mean, I might read it, I might hear it from an associate or at a seminar, I might see it on TV, or I hear it from a friend or a family member. I mean, something that's good for me is what I mean. Something that would actually make a difference if I would just listen and if I would learn and I would apply it, like if I would just do it, but so often, I mean, it apparently goes right over my head. I mean, essentially
Starting point is 00:03:39 in one ear and out the other. And typically it's only hindsight that allows me to see this. But then I hear it from a different source or in a different way, or maybe just at a different time where it actually clicks. So I get it. And I see that very clearly from the outside looking in at this survey as most of the responses were very detailed and they were involved. So there's a very exciting opportunity right now for me
Starting point is 00:04:05 in which I get to dig deeper within myself. I get to reach out to other people within my network. I get to consume additional material and learn new things. But most of all, what I'm excited about is that I get to customize this show. I get to customize it, so to speak, and focus on exactly what you want to hear, as opposed to what I thought you wanted to hear, or I thought you needed to hear.
Starting point is 00:04:27 So I'm very excited about the next few months, and after I'll go ahead and I'll check back in with you again and see where we stand. And having said that, feel free to contact me and interact with me in the meantime, like many of you have already been doing, and you can do that by simply sending me an email to Matt at the doover guide.com. And I believe I've completely caught up, by the way. I've responded to every email I've received.
Starting point is 00:04:49 And if I missed yours by chance, just send it again. If I didn't respond, it was only because I didn't see it. So of this survey, inquiring about your three biggest challenges. I mean, there were five major areas that really stood out, five major areas that are very common among the 100-plus people that responded, and they stood out in a big way. Money, that was a big one. or the lack thereof, I should say.
Starting point is 00:05:10 You know, whether it's money to pay the bills or the extra money needed to pursue your passion or if it was actual capital investments to fund your projects. You know, and I'm glad that I did this survey because I was thinking that I cover money a little bit too frequently on this show. Because money, it's important to me, but I understand it's not as important to other people
Starting point is 00:05:29 as it is to me. And I am well aware, money is not everything. But it certainly makes everything a whole lot more easy and a whole lot more enjoyable. So money, that was a big one for you. Spousal and family support, that was a biggie. Support for you to pursue your passion, and that was just another big area of concern for many of you,
Starting point is 00:05:49 whether it was from your spouse or your family or your friends, your immediate network. So we'll talk about that as well. Time management was a significant challenge in many of your do-overs, along with procrastination. That came up quite a bit. Also, not knowing what to do in your do-over or what to do next inside of your do-over.
Starting point is 00:06:07 Paralysis by analysis. That was interesting. There are 17 people of which responded to the survey almost 20% that actually used that term, paralysis by analysis. And we're going to cover all of those over the next few months. Personally, I'll touch on each subject. But I'm going to bring in people from my network to touch on those as well.
Starting point is 00:06:24 As I'm aware of that, in fact, I'm very aware of that. I don't know everything. There's a whole lot that I don't know. But I know people that know a lot more than me. and I know people that have specialized knowledge in certain areas where I might be just a generalist. So I know some great money minds that I'll invite to the show and they'll share with you. And I know a fantastic time management and procrastination expert of which I'll invite to the show. And those are just a couple that I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm going to dig deep into my network.
Starting point is 00:06:51 I'm going to pull together my resources and I'm going to make these next few months really, really amazing. And among the other topics that ail you, consistency, relationships, weight loss, finding a job, overwhelm, finding your life purpose, clearing clutter, that showed up quite a few times, both figuratively and literally, and finding clients in networking and establishing a plan of action, maintaining one's energy, that was a biggie for some of you, and fear, and that showed up in many different forms, and faith and self-confidence, we're going to cover all of it over the next few months, and we're going to cover it all from many different angles and perspectives. But hands down, the biggest challenge you are facing in your do-over, according to this survey,
Starting point is 00:07:34 the biggest challenge you're facing is staying motivated and staying focused. And you're being distracted by negative thoughts and pessimism and staying enthusiastic about what you're up to in life. You see, losing your motivation or losing your focus or losing your enthusiasm, struggling with negative thoughts, they're all symptoms of where you're currently standing in life. Typically, you're standing in a space between belief and disbelief, or trust and distrust.
Starting point is 00:08:01 or certainty and uncertainty. And we have a word for it. And that word is doubt. Doubt brings into question some notion of a perceived reality. And doubt may involve delaying or rejecting relevant action out of concerns for mistakes or faults or appropriateness. If you're finding yourself short on motivation or enthusiasm and you're lacking the ability to focus,
Starting point is 00:08:27 you're likely doubting what you're up to in life. meaning are you doing the right thing or are you doing what you really want to do or you're doubting how you're going about it meaning is this really going to work because you might have been pursuing something for a while taking a consistent action and you're not getting the results that you really were hoping for
Starting point is 00:08:48 so there's doubt and how you're going about it you know there's an old fable that someone shared with me recently and they said it was old but it was new to me but I liked it so much that I've probably shared it others at least a half a dozen times in the last couple of weeks. Perhaps you're familiar with it, or perhaps you've been out of the loop just like me and it'll be brand new to you. But it's so applicable to our discussion today.
Starting point is 00:09:10 You see, it was once announced that the devil was going out of business. He was having a going out of business sale. And he was making his tools available to whoever would pay his price. And now, on the night of the sale, he laid out all of his tools. They were all attractively displayed and a mean and menacing group of tools they were. there was the tool of malice, the tool of hatred, the tool of envy, and jealousy and sensuality, and the tool of deceit, and all the other implements of evil were spread out as well, each marked with its price. Now, apart from the rest of the tools lay a harmless-looking wedge-shaped tool.
Starting point is 00:09:45 It was obviously an older tool, or maybe just a more frequently used tool. It was hard to tell. It wasn't nearly as impressive as the others, at least by the look of it. But it was priced much higher than the others. And someone asked the devil what it was. That's the tool of doubt was his reply. Well, why do you have it priced so high? Because, replied the devil, it is more useful to me than any of the others.
Starting point is 00:10:07 I can pry open and get inside a man's consciousness with that when I could not get near him with any of the others. And when once inside, I can use him in whatever way suits me best. It is so much worn because I use it with nearly everybody, as very few people even know it belongs to me. That was the devil's response. And needless to say, the devil's sale was not. a success. He did not go out of business after all. The price for his tools, especially doubt,
Starting point is 00:10:33 were so high that they were never sold and he still owns them all, including his favorite, the tool of doubt, and he's using them today. Now, the moral of this fable is that you should never underestimate or undervalue the powerful influence of doubt and keeping you from doing over and keeping you from living up to your potential. Doubt is a do-over killer. Doubt is a dream stealer. I mean, most people are already in somewhat of a shaken up state when they're starting over. I mean, they're fragile, so to speak, mostly. And that particular state can have you operating with a weakened immune system, figuratively speaking, of course. Nobody is immune to doubt. But we find ourselves inordinately susceptible when we're starting over. Just know that in order for your
Starting point is 00:11:17 due over to succeed, let alone just survive, know that it will have to survive doubt. You see, See, doubt starts out small and it appears rational, and that is actually the insidious nature of doubt. It appears to be your friend having your best interest at heart. It appears it's looking out for you. It uses fear to keep you out of harm's way. It appears that it's doing good. It's keeping you safe from failure, keeping you safe from change.
Starting point is 00:11:44 It wants to keep you in the safe zone at all times. Doubt also causes you to think short of your abilities and to think short of your possibilities, to think short of what's possible for you. It wants to convince you of why you either cannot do something or cannot achieve something. Your doubt will make a case of your past and present failures as the basis for why you cannot change or should not change. Doubt is sneaky. It's nasty.
Starting point is 00:12:08 It's ugly. The good news, however, is that doubt can be conquered. It can be conquered relatively easily by just simple conditioning. And that conditioning, it comes the fastest, at least in my experience, that conditioning comes the fastest from, one, surrounding yourself with like-minded people. Your environment will condition your thinking the fastest. But be careful, it works the other way also. You surround yourself with negative thinkers.
Starting point is 00:12:35 You too will begin to think more negatively. But you can use it in your favor. You've got to be proactive about creating a productive environment. I mean, if doubt is eating at you, you've got to create an empowering environment. At the very least, seek out like-minded people. And I mean, seek them out. Don't wait for them to show up.
Starting point is 00:12:56 And I don't want to hear any excuses either. I mean, there are clubs, there are associations, there are online forums, there are trade organizations, there's hobby groups, professional groups, church groups. There are a bunch of places of which you can find like-minded people. I mean, even if you have to pay some sort of fee to join a group or to belong to a group, do it. It's that important. And I'm pretty sure that this website flourishes nationally. But try Meetup.com.
Starting point is 00:13:22 M-E-E-E-T-U-P-com. It's a social networking site that meets up offline. They meet in person. And there is a group there and sometimes multiple groups for just about any possible interest that you may have. I mean, anything, you name it. And it can go to extremes, and it has everything in between. And if you can't find a group there that suits you,
Starting point is 00:13:43 create one yourself. This is your life. Is it not worth it? No excuses. No excuses are allowed. You see, you can make excuses or you can do over, but you can't do both. So number one, interacting with like-minded people will combat doubt. Something almost magical happens when you can connect with people that are doing what you want to do.
Starting point is 00:14:07 It brings your dreams and your ambitions into the realm of reality. So don't underestimate the power of a positive, like-minded environment. Number two, consume personal development material. And consume it on a daily basis. Because as many of you are experiencing, motivation doesn't, last. And as Zig Ziglar said, neither does bathing. That's why we recommend it daily. So, consume personal development material, whether that's through books, audio, seminars, or home study courses. I mean, if it's brand new to you, the book, think and grow rich,
Starting point is 00:14:38 great place to start. Gosh, I mean, it's a great place to start if you're a veteran. Anthony Robbins is a personal favorite of mine. His book, Awaken the Giant Within. I've read it at least a half a dozen times in the last four years. And Ogmandino's, the greatest salesman in the world. That's another great book. It's a short, quick read, but very profound. And I do like the Law of Attraction material as well, particularly when we're discussing a topic like we are today. It's perfect for that. It's perfect for conditioning that doubt out of your mind. You know, I just completed an extensive course on the 11 forgotten laws of which you can find at think and attractsuccess.com. That's an affiliate link of mine, by the way. I get a little commission from that if you pick it up.
Starting point is 00:15:18 But of the thousands and thousands of products that I can promote, I choose to promote. I choose to promote less than five, and that's one that I do promote. So you can find that at think and attract success.com. So those are a few of my favorites. As you explore the world of personal development, you'll come across your own favorites as well, but the point here is, invest in your thinking as much as you invest in anything else. Invest in your personal development.
Starting point is 00:15:38 It's that important. You know, a mentor of mine once shared with me that your income will never surpass your personal development. Your bank account will never be larger than your growth. So commit to it. Ritting yourself of doubt and transforming your thinking to that of one who successfully does over, it's merely a matter of conditioning. So when in doubt, don't.
Starting point is 00:16:00 And if you absolutely must doubt something, doubt that you will fail. That's all I've got for you today, but we will resume this conversation on the next episode. We're going to pick up right where we're leaving off. We're going to attack your motivation, your focus, and your thinking woes from every angle. Keep trying on what I suggest, just like that pair of sunglasses. and sooner or later, preferably sooner, will find that pair that fits. God loves you, and so do I.
Starting point is 00:16:23 I am Matt, the do-over guy, and I will see you next time on your do-over. Thank you for tuning in to your do-over, where the ignored, underestimated, and unknown steps to producing results and making life work are revealed. And remember, knowledge is potential power. Take action on what you learned today.
Starting point is 00:16:44 This is not your learn-over. It's your do-over.
