It's time for Financial Freedom Friday with Matt Terrio.
According to a Fannie Mae Housing Survey conducted in the past year,
41% of younger renters actually prefer the idea of renting versus purchasing their own home.
For this segment of survey respondents, renting makes more sense because it is, quote-unquote, less stressful
and lends itself to more flexibility for future decisions.
So I ask you, is this really so shocking?
You know, the newer generation is obsessed with what's next and what's new.
They don't want to feel tied down.
And these social changes have been enabled tremendously by technology
that has allowed younger working adults to stay connected socially
and professionally anywhere, anytime.
So as a real estate investor, there's a lesson here.
As with any entrepreneur serving the public,
you are truly in the business of giving your customers what they want.
I mean, you may think it's insane to not want to own your own home,
but as an investor, you are serving a need for a customer that wants or needs something different.
So long as what the customer wants is moral and ethical,
a successful investor will embrace their customer's taste.
Here's another way to look at it.
Imagine you suddenly inherited a radio station that was extremely profitable.
Would you suddenly insist the DJs start playing your favorite music instead?
I mean, or would you just not argue with the goose that's laying in the golden egg and
simply wonder to yourself how anyone could like that awful music all the way on your way to the bank?
Just the nature of life itself will always create demand for rentals for a certain segment of the population.
There will always be people moving into new areas for work or who are moving up or down in life that will need rental housing.
But what this new trend is showing is that the real estate investor of today is also enjoying a social tailwind, changing preferred views on home ownership their way.
This is not a trend soon to change as the new generation continues its dominance in social culture.
And this is good news for those willing to ride the wave.
And if you want to get on that wave, we'll show you how to do it, how to do it all by yourself at epicproacademy.com.
Or we can actually do it for you at cash flow.
I'm Matt Terrio of Epic Real Estate.
Enjoy the weekend and I'll see you Monday with a brand new full-length episode of Epic
Real Estate Investing.
