I'm Nora Pryanti and I am joined. In the throes of, I think what we must now acknowledge is Pop Girl Summer, Hot Girl Summer, Megan the Stallion is back. It is after the 4th of July. It is spring no more. But Nathan Hubbard is still here with me. Nathan, how are you doing? I'm doing great.

I think there's also an M&M record coming. The Zach Bryan album dropped July 4th. We have lots of things. to talk about eventually if we want to. My dear friend Kevin Clark, former colleague, loves nothing more than to text me that Zach Bryan is

the Taylor Swift of Men, which first of all is a premise that I reject a little bit, but he, like, I do appreciate that he really, he makes his case, he goes, Zach Bryan has a 10-minute song, Taylor Swift has a 10-minute song.

Zach Ryan has a song called 28 about being 28, Taylor Swift has a song called 22 about being 22. And like, every time he does this, I'm like, yes, yes, we have this in my culture. I understand. So that's fun. I went to high school with his guitarist. Oh, we're making connections now.

Yeah. Noah. It's big on TikTok these days. Okay. Ladies love him. Well, it's going very well for Zach Bryan. And as well it should, he's a very interesting cultural phenomenon. He's got everybody from, yeah boy, John Mayer, to Bruce Springsteen on this.

Don't you boy me with that. I reject that. It's not my boy. And it's an interesting piece of content. And like I said, we've got potential things to talk about it. I mean, I was in a house in Malibu, and there was a freaking airplane flying with a sign that said brat summer. This was like last, like for the 4th of July or like once upon a time.

Okay, got it. Yes. Setting the stage. And I was like. It flew over. Yeah. Brat summer. I mean, artists who wonder why they're.

have not recouped their record label advances. It's because we're out here flying signs behind crop dusters over Malibu beaches that just say Brad Summer. So it's creative. Does the label just get to do that and like build Charlie? I mean, the manager and the artist

are deeply involved in that marketing campaign. So no, they don't just go spend a bunch of money against the artist. I mean, she's doing just fine. That album is everywhere. Yeah. And I think they've actually had a very creative release. I mean, there's been a lot of online chatter about the walls that get

painted with Brad and then it's given... Well, she's also like she owns a color now. Like, she has a color swatch. I walked into the airport last Wednesday. And there were a bunch of United kiosks where, like, where are you check in? Where they, part of it, like, glowed and green to say that it was available. And I, like, pointed at it and was like, uh, Brad's summer. I know, it's like, it's like, Nickelodeon slime green. It's also like I message FaceTime app

color green. Like she's really taken over a color that... Yeah, but like that's the point. It's not anymore. Yeah. It's Brat green. It's Charlie's color. Like, Pantone.

Get in here. Where's that collab? Well, I'm interested to see how this infusion of color affects your choices in the song draft that we're doing today, Nora. Okay, yes.

That is our episode. Thank you, Nathan, for doing the podcast. You are doing my hosting duties better than I am. We're doing a song draft. Not true. It's always something when we do a song draft. I mean, I think... Well, what is it today? It's a third one, right? I don't know, but I'll tell you what I'm worried about. I'm worried that you may or may not have had exposure to some sort of virus over the past weekend. And that when this thing is over, you're going to pull some Joe Biden debate shit on me. What do you mean? Like, I'm going to say that I wasn't...

I have the coronavirus. It's what Nathan is alluding to so that no one starts tweeting at me asking if I have like MERSA or something. I have a mild case of COVID. I am broadcasting from my home office. Everyone's fine. In the unlikely event that the world determines

that I win this song draft, I just think that you might suddenly blame it on the international trip that you took and the cold that you had and all these things. So anyway, let's get into it. I'm sorry. When have I bet it? First of all, we are one for one in our song drafts. You did, what was the last one that we did? It was after, why can't I remember this? I do remember that you owned it. That you squarely squarely won the last one that we did, but I think that's really the only bit of information that really matters. But now I fear we're massively overhyping me and I'm starting to feel like the hot dog eating contest guy where the pressure's

just too much and the benefits of winning are not high enough. So I really would like to reset the bar low and come back to the fact that I super choked the first one that we did, which was around Taylor Swift songs. And I really got in my own head and you crushed me like the NFL GMs that you have such close relationships within your day job. Well, I will say this is my second draft podcast of day. So. Okay. That sikes you out a little bit. The first one. No, it makes me think you've got some mental fatigue, so I'm excited. I'm feeling good. I'm feeling good Joe Biden, Prince Iotti. Are you Donald Trump in this analogy? Oh, God. No. I'm not. I'm not. You're just putting yourself in a very poor situation. I'm already losing. I surrender.

So here are the ground rules. Here are the ground rules. We're each going to draft 10 songs. Okay. I don't know if Nathan's coming with any funny business. And, you know, as always, we are open to creative argument making that something deserves inclusion or is within bounds. Kaya will be the arbiter of any conflicts, any rules challenges. But what we are doing basically is we are each drafting a team of 10 songs. The eligible songs are songs from any of the albums that we have discussed. over the course of Pop Girl Spring.

I did add officially. Sabrina Carbender's espresso and Please Please Please. And Chapel Roan's Good Luck, Babe. Not technically on albums that we've discussed thus far, but songs that feel canonical to Pop Girl Spring and have come up a lot on this podcast. But anything else, Taylor, Beyonce, Maggie Rogers, Gracie Abrams, Doolipa, who else am I forgetting? Casey Mousgris.

Casey. Billy Elish. And then Sabrina Chapel, Billy, Charlie. Ariana. All in bounds. Yes. That's the universe of things that we're selecting. What will you say with me?

What? I will share with you before we start that when I started to make my big board, I started feeling like, oh my God. this is a lot of songs. Like, how am I going to make sense of it? And also just like, I wonder if this draft won't even be competitive because there are 168 eligible songs. What if we might just want different things?

And then, to be quite honest, I came up with 20 draft eligible songs. Me too. Which I think in hindsight actually makes sense. Yeah. Because for all the amazing music. that we've talked about, I think some of the push and pull that we've had with a lot of these albums

is that they're really good, they're really interesting, they give us a lot to enjoy, a lot to put on playlists, but some of them haven't felt as massive or as significant as some of the other ones. As revisitable. Yeah.

And so to me, this was an instructive exercise in the sense that the songs that I feel like five years from now or however long I need. Like, I need these on my team.

I need these on my playlist. It was just enough so that technically you and I could each end up with a full team of ten of these songs. That said, I think we're probably going to end up competing over some of them, especially now that you've said that you went through a similar sort of sorting the wheat from the chaff process. I did. I did. And I think all shall be revealed as we get into this. Now, the truth, how are we going to do the first pick? I was prepared to give it to you for comedy's sake

and just to get me angry early and off my game. I'm now remembering that last time we did this, the first time we did this, I gave you the first pick. The second time we did this, Kaya, producer Kaya, thought of a number between one and two. But, you know, Nora, you are the hostess with the moses, and as you are severely disabled during this, draft as we've already established. Perhaps you should just take that first draft book.

We're doing this. We are doing this by the book. Kaya, number between one and two, do we want to flip a coin? We are going to decide this equitably. Okay. I don't want to win. I think let's flip a coin. I will pull up a point toss generator. And, okay, heads or tails? Nora, you pick. Tails. Tales, it is. Chief Super Bowl coin flip pick Wouldn't lead me wrong. Travis wouldn't let me down. All right.

So this does really affect strategy right now because I know what you're going to pick. I don't think you do because I don't know what I'm going to pick. I know what you're going to pick. And you are on the clock, Nora, with a whole cornucopia of Pop Girl Spring songs.

now Pop Girl Summer songs to choose from. So tell us, Nora. Okay. I'm sticking to my board. Yes. And I'm doing what I believe you think that I was going to do, which is that I'm picking the black dog.

I'm picking the black dog by Taylor Swift. Ah, yes. She is mine. I will have her. I will cherish her. Yeah. And I'm thrilled about it. Yep.

And it's the right pick. You know, you just don't screw around in these moments when you have the clear number one on the board. It's a little hard for me to stomach, but I sort of, as I made my list, I sort of anticipated that this was how it was going to go. And for that reason, I'm going to take espresso from you.

Damn it! Damn it! Because this was your choice to make. This was the hardest choice of the draft. Yep. Espresso was not, it's very high on my board. It was not number two. but I just committed to the punitive act.

No, if I had run away from this draft with the Black Dog and Espresso, it frankly does not matter what happens after I would have won the draft. That's exactly the consideration that I made. It was like, really, if she has both those things, nothing else matters. And we have to be honest that espresso, across all of these albums that we've looked at, espresso is the song of the summer. It is.

and if there's a challenge to it, it might only be please, please, please. We'll see. There's a few others that are making their way into this. But give me espresso. I hope it's shitty in the Black Dog. I hope it's shitty with the Black Dog.

It's great with the Black Dog, but that was, I thought there was like a 15% chance you would do something different and I could manage to get away with it. Let me ask you this. If I had chosen espresso number one, is there any chance?

you would have let me have the black dog? You have to answer, honestly. Don't just twist the knife. No. No. So I knew I had to choose. Yeah. No. It, 100%. If I had gotten the first pick, I would have taken the black dog and given you espresso. So I'm glad that we certainly are aligned on this. The thing that we didn't align on, align on from a rules perspective is we're just alternating. This is not a snake draft, correct? Just alternating. Okay. Well, that's good for you. What's it going to be? Wow. Okay.

This actually is interesting for me because my board is perhaps predictably top-heavy on tortured poets. But you know what? I think in the same way that espresso is the song of the summer and one of the songs that is just going to feel so definitive of this period in that. I'm going to really need to revisit. I think I have to make a little bit of an audible just based on the fact that I did get the Black Dog and that I can save a little,

like I can try to get some of those other tortured poet songs that I love a little bit later. And I'm going to have to take good luck made by Chapel Rhone. Okay, okay. That is exactly the calculation that I mean. I spent a lot of time worrying about this because I knew you were coming with Chapel number two. Like, you had to come with chapel number two.

So, Good Luck, Babe is the fifth song on my board. Yeah, it's the ninth on mine. It's ninth on yours. Yeah. It is the fifth song on my board, but without giving up too much. Black Dog was one. Espresso was two. And then three and four.

Three and four are both tortured poet songs. Yeah. And I just feel like I can get more of that in there later. and I wondered if you were going to jump for it because that, I mean, other than espresso, like, tortured poets is going to be remembered for the expanse of tortured poets. It is.

But good luck, babe, like, you know, chapel's moment right now is going to be remembered for all that it's consisted of. But that song, I feel like, like, I kind of need it, so I'm taking it. Okay. It's a really big song. it's hard for me to blame you for drafting that.

It does put a very interesting... I feel like you should be more upset. No, no. I mean, I'm... Look, I don't know what to say. It's a great poll by you. I was worried that you were going to take birds of a feather. And I am taking birds of a feather second because of reasons that will become apparent to you soon.

I absolutely adore that song. I am coming back to it so often in my, like, free time. And I think that song is- Of reasons that will become apparent to me on this podcast or soon in life. Let's just see. I don't have to tell you that. But that song- I would say I would call BS on you using your super secret sneaky insider knowledge

in the draft. But, like, if that is not every single album canon, I don't know what is. So I suppose I accept it. This Billy album is fantastic. I love it deeply. That is my favorite song on the album. And it's the one that I've come back to the most. And I didn't want to lose that.

And it's a great song, but I can live with this one. Okay. I just want to say that your draft pick here is going to make or break my entire draft. I'm taking Baddadi. I love him. Okay. Yes. Yes. What were you working?

worried about. I'll tell you in a sec. But I am, I want to understand this choice. You're taking... Honestly, like, it's number three on my board. It is. Okay. And was it number three before you saw the live performance?

No. Yeah. Well, I don't know. I didn't make my board before I saw the live performance. It was like, that was a song that I really liked on first listen to tortured poets. I don't know if I liked it that much You didn't

We liked it We liked the wine moms We liked the I mean major scolding of the fan base All the wine moms are still holding now But fucker It's over I love like I think that's so interesting

But I was always into this song Yes You were We spoke highly of this song I don't know that it was number three Yeah There are just There's so much lore

to But Daddy, I love him. Right. And it's so good live. But it's also, like, my drafts, I do feel, I prize listenability. Like, I do think of my drafts as playlists. Not necessarily in terms of them being like cohesive or for something in particular, but I'm thinking of this draft in terms of like, I need to want to listen to these songs. Yeah.

Now, certain songs are sort of like, you know, pop culturally important. And that's a secret. sauce and whatever, but like, that's maybe a little bit less of a priority for me. And so another part of this is that I just love to listen to this song. Yeah. And you're finding yourself in the car or just in your own, whatever you're listening time is, this is this you come back too often. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Well, the reason that I was okay with you taking good luck, babe, is because my number one chapel song is unequivocally hot to go. And it was the second song, actually, on my entire board.

I just, the more that I listen to that song, and maybe it's because, like, I did a weekend with my kids and, like, that's it. But that song, to me, I'm seeing all of the festival plays. I'm seeing, like, it just is percolating across generations. I really think it is, like, it's the new YMCA. And it's more awesome than that. And it is my, it is in this moment my favorite chapel song. And I was willing to sacrifice good luck, babe, even though I love good luck, babe.

I think Hot to Go in the long run is going to be the one from this chapel era that is the iconic and the most iconic song. And to the point that we were just talking about, I wouldn't have necessarily said that until I saw all of the live performances. And that's what really made me fall in love with it. Interesting. Interesting. Maybe we can come up with like on the earlier draft podcast that I was part of. There was some really never got nailed down exactly what I signed up for. So I'm very nervous about it. Some wager placed of like someone's got a change in avatar or something. Maybe we'll find some some stakes. What was this earlier? Who were you cheating on me with? Football. Football. Oh, okay. Well, I'm not jealous of that. We were drafting the teams. We were. drafting teams to have the lowest win totals, like golf style.

Where did you put my Washington C-words? Your Washington C-words did not end up on my team, but it wasn't great. That's fine. Yeah. Okay. That's fine. Just needed to know. So hot to go for me, I really took birds of a feather because I assumed that when

you took good luck, babe, your next draft pick was not going to be hot to go. And so I assumed that it would be out there for me. Okay. But I have a lot of respect for the But Daddy I love him pick. But I really, I needed, if I wasn't going to get the black dog, I really needed to get espresso birds of a feather and hot to go. So I'm feeling very happy about that at the moment. Okay. I'm really interested in this idea of like what five years from now is going to be the iconic chapel song from this era.

And now you could argue that Good Luck, Babe is transitioning to. to something more forward-looking, and so maybe we'll come to think of it as part of something else. But I'm curious what people think about that, and I'm also just curious to find out. Also, not news to anyone listening to this, but further evidence of the fact that Chapel Run is just absolutely crushing it. It's like, however many months ago,

we were not talking about her. Right. We weren't really, you know, a year ago, barely on the radar. we are now drafting relatively short teams in this incredibly prolific spring of music and both of us made a chapel rhone pick in the top three. And both of us expected to have to do some strategizing

to get those songs. I think in the aggregate of all the albums that we've done this spring, rise and fall of a Midwest princess is my favorite. It's not the one that I think is necessarily like the best that's like it's not the most amazing piece of art but it is the album that I think at this point is getting the most spins from me yeah and there's something a straight man in his 40s there's something magical about seeing someone just find it like find their gear yeah

and have it be so authentic so I I always struggle to compare other artists to Taylor because there's just like a certain place in my heart. I think there are two, I'm not going to tell you the other one, but there are two albums that sort of fit the category that you just described. Yeah. This is such a good exercise for me because everybody, I'm sure, has their, like, summer place. So I go to, I'm part of a really big family, and I go to hang out with them in the summer for, like, a week or two at a lake place on a lake.

And I end up being, like, de facto... In my state of birth. I end up being, like, de facto DJ. And so I introduced like my brothers or my mom to some stuff or my sister sometimes, although she's, they're both more on it. But I can't, this is such a good exercise for me because it's really crystallized for me what I'm going to play them when we have had too many bottles of wine and it's late at the lake. Frankly, heavenly. Wine at the lake, pop girl spraying on the soundtrack, like no notes. Your turn.

This is my first. Fourth round. It's a fourth round. And my top three, obviously those are from the heart, but there's some, there's some strategy that has gone into each of the top three picks. I've been thinking about what I think you're going to do and acting vis-a-vis my assumptions about that. I think this is going to be my first pick that is just like from the heart. And I'm going to take Apple by Charlie XX.X. Wow!

Awesome pick! The song fucking rules. It fucking rules. It is also. I can't tell when she goes from Apple to airport, but it's awesome. Apple. Apple. Yeah.

Yeah, that's really funny. It is also the first song. It's like the first, it's the first song where I've learned the TikTok dance and like really thought I got it right, really been like, oh, I actually, I'm not just pretending I know what to do. I know what to do. And it's everywhere. And I love this song.

And I actually think it's my, it's become my favorite brat song. And Brat is that other album from this spring that I think along with Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. I'm just like, damn, that was cool. Yeah. I'm so happy this exists. Yeah. So I need an inclusion pretty high up. And I wonder if this is, you know, I'm still spending so much time with Brat.

And I wonder if there was certainly a moment when 360 was the song that I was playing the most. Right. I've had a lot of time with Talk Talk. I've had a fair bit of time with both the original Girl So Confusing and the remix and a bunch of other songs. Right now it's definitely Apple and I'm just sticking a claim that I think it's going to, I think that it's going to stick. That song is trending up into the right. Sympathy is a knife is a song I'm listening to a lot from that album. And I still really like, I think about it all the time just because the sort of juxtaposition of that song, I just dig it.

but 360 is the song that I spend the most time with on that album and that fits so nicely into my playlist of espresso birds of a feather and hot to go and so I am not leaving that one out there any longer even though I probably should yeah 360 and I'm taking 360 because that song slaps I'm so Julia let's go. You shouldn't have left it hanging out there any longer. Apple was six on my board. 360 was seventh.

I will I will drive my tears for not having this by the fact that I can at least you know, I can go to 365, I suppose. Yeah, you can. But I'm jealous of that one.

You have to pay me a small royalty if you go to 365, but yes. I'll gladly pay the toll. All right. Track five. Track five. Just like, my draft is too in character. Yeah.

Okay, I'm going to take lunch by Billy Eilish. Ooh. Wow. Make the case. It's on my list. You had birds of a feather, which is, lunch is higher on my list than birds of a feather.

But once you had birds of a feather, like I don't want to mess around and not have a contribution from Billy. And I really like Birds of a Feather as well. But lunch is my favorite song off that record. I think it is by far the most fun. It's boppy in a way that I really appreciate Billy finding that lane. And who doesn't want lunch on their playlist?

Yeah. It's a great song. to me la more de mavi is still kicking my ass from that album i love the extended version i love the original version i love you the best for i love chihiro there's just really great stuff on the billy album that i'm actually really looking forward to seeing how she performs these things and like what the visual attachment is because for a number of these albums we've got a lot more visuals than necessarily what we have from Billy on this music. But I really, this album is terrific. It is sustaining for me. I am coming back to it. And I do not blame you at all for taking

lunch. Sorry, I wasn't listening. I was just looking at the top five of my team, which is the Black Dog, Good Luck Babe, but Daddy, I love him, Apple and Lunch. No skips. Slapeth. Well, good for you that that's your top five. I mean, it may. makes it easier for us to do this draft. I will say that there's one song that I cannot live without, and you will notice that I have now gone four songs without a Taylor Swift song.

Yeah. Knowing that you were going to take the Black Dog, there's only one other song on this album that I, like, would completely bleed out for if I didn't get it. And I know that you're not going to take it, but I'm afraid that you would take it with one of these later draft picks

just to cause drama so I am taking down bad and I'm down bad crying at the chin and I am taking down bad because I continue to be completely down bad for this song it is still outside of the black dog

unquestionably my favorite and one that I come back to all the time one that like sits in my head You think about it all the time. Yes. There are other amazing songs on tortured poets. But the visual actually in this case didn't help me like the song more. Yeah, because it's so alien abduction.

It's massively alien abduction. But there is just, this one just got me from the first listen. It still has me. And I am so glad that I have it. I'm happy for you. The visual is, it's such a funny, like, I can't quite figure out how I feel about it because I agree with you that there's something about it when you're looking at that screen and the giant fucking space saucer pops up. Yeah. That it's like, what is happening right now?

It's the weirdest part of the show. It's definitely the weirdest part of the show. But one, she's a weirdo. So I love that she did that in some ways. And two, I actually love the, like, I love that metaphor. I love that like, I kind of know that I feel that it's like really weird. And if I explain to my friends how I feel about this relationship gone sour or whatever, that like they're going to kind of pat me on the shoulder and then go home and text someone

and be like, I don't know. She was a little off today. But like, I feel those things anyways. Like that's, that's really juicy to me. But it's just so, it's so E.T. phone home. You know what it is to me It conjures up the like Kate McKinnon alien abduction sketch from SNL Yes

So there I was with his knockers and his flackers You know It's just It's just a lot For anyone who doesn't know this sketch First of all go seek it out It's really funny And second of all I'm just like

What you described about it, I'd figured it out. I will say I believe the tortured poet song that you have brought up to me the most in the last like month and a half has been thank you, Amy. Yeah, that's true.

I really like thank you, Amy. It would have been a real classic Nathan Hubbard out of left field to drag, thank you, Amy. Yeah. I have a feeling that's still on the board. by the time we're through this. But we'll see. We'll see.

Who knows? I also took down bad because I now have... There's two songs that are out there, one of which I must have. But if I'd gotten one of them and not down bad, I would have never forgiven myself.

So now I'm content that you will likely draft one of the two, and I'm okay because I'm taking the other one. But let's see. You've still been surprised. me. There are three songs. Okay.

I have a guess as to what that means, but I'm not actually sure. Okay. I will be taking the Bolter. Holy Shinto. The Bolter here you go drafting a punter

six. First of all, don't use up that metaphor just yet, Nathan, because I have a feeling I'm going to give you a reason. The Bolter is not a punter. The Boulder is one of my absolute favorite most cherished, tortured poet songs. And I love it, even though I only got to listen to whips of its melody wafting through the Edinburgh sky after one of the first part of one of my most epic cell phones of all time.

I love this song so much. The Bolter was the number four pick on my board. I did a little bit of reconfiguring because I wanted to get Charlie in there before you did. Okay. But you kind of knew I wasn't touching the bolter. I mean...

Purely... Well, I don't know. I don't know. I never know the things that you... I mean, you seem surprised that I did that. I think that is so completely predictable. So you never know. what you're going to try to snatch away from me. I must have it. I love the boulter.

Okay. I mean, in our July 4th, like, feast, somebody put out some, like, really mopey-ass peaches. Don't you dare call the boulter mopey-ass peaches. Mopey-ass peaches. And it certainly is part of the lore now, not just because of Travis's opinion, but because it is the most overt storytelling part of the show outside of maybe smallest man who ever lived, but it's not. It's smallest man who ever lived is very metaphorical. Yeah, she's getting shot,

but, you know, that she literally tells you what was going on in the way that she acts out, I can do with the broken heart. So good for you. Thank you. Thank you very much. But I think that you're right that we're in this moment of chapel. And I mean, I'm going to double up here.

Wow. Yeah. Because I didn't expect this. Yeah, because I think I can't let Red Wine Supernova go. I can't. It was number six on my board and I'm drafting at seven. and that will mean that I've got all but two of my top 10 so far are on my team. And so I'm happy.

I just think in terms of like quality of song, things I'm coming back to, baby I will because I really want to, like, let's go. It's sticking with me. And I just went with like, what am I revisiting? What is what is making that Good Times playlist? and I think it fits in really well after Yaya. So come on down. We've drafted two Chapel Rhone songs. This is a great pick.

Red Wide Supernova, I think, is a little bit more similar to Good Luck, Babe, than it is to Hot to Go. It is. You're right. It would have been too much. That wouldn't have made sense. I think that's right. I think this was a funny one for me to place because I don't think we've really even had a chance to actually talk about this song. And I'm totally gaga for it. I love this song. It's one of my favorite songs of Pop Girl Spring, of Pop Girl Summer, or whatever. I think it's, I think it's an A song. I have crystal clarity that I am an espresso girl. I'm more of an espresso girl than a please, please, please, girl. No, you've talked a lot about that. I'm so lucky to live in a universe where I can have both. And it's getting tons of spins for me.

I'm super happy to have it on my team. it made it funny for me to, it ended up being 10th on my board. Hmm. I had it 11. I just didn't quite, yeah, I didn't quite, sometimes I looked at it and I thought that seemed so low. Sometimes I looked at it and I thought that seemed so high.

And I couldn't quite, and I think it's just like, for me, espresso, and I can't believe I'm complimenting your team this way, it's just so lodged in my brain. Right. that the urge to compare is there. But I do. My team started dour, but emotional.

But I still, as I sit here in July, cannot believe that for all of the buildup and all the conversation around, oh my gosh, there's an album. It's Joe, Joe, we got a fucking album with 31 songs that's mostly about Maddie Healy. I just... It's just unbelievable. She's the best.

The 1975 has to be stopped. Why? The cultural footprint of this band. Yeah. I mean, certainly affecting the Charlie album. Yeah. I mean... I see, and this is invasive.

Like, don't do those to people or whatever. but like I see TikToks of people seeing Maddie and Gabriette on the lower east side and he's like always grabbing her butt at the stoplight. They're just, they're everywhere. Every member of this band is somehow omnipresent. This was supposed to be like a slightly esoteric pop rock band from the UK. Like, what have we done? I love them.

It's a really good band. I'm sorry. No, they're so good. They're so good. I'm not like that's, I love to listen to the 1975. I just like, we've given Maddie Healy powers that I'm not sure he knows what to do it. But he might be like that black slime from the Spider-Man movie. It just like it just kind of like infects everything.

That would be the countercase. But look, he's just an incredible frontman. You cannot go to a 1975 show and not come away and be like, holy crap. yeah, no, I too have had that experience. I have to be honest, I could do without the meat. I've always felt that I could have done without the meat, but that's fine. That's my cross-de-bear. I can do without the chain smoking, too, but, you know, I mean, it's a very good thing. I know, but I just don't want to watch that, like, smoking is bad. People shouldn't do it. Yeah, I just don't want to watch the meat get eaten.

I just, yeah, I felt more affected by the presence of the meat, but again, my, my, that's my issue. All right. I'd love it if we made it to the 10th pick in the draft, but I'll tell you, we only have two left here, Nora. So you now need to start taking a real analysis of your roster and making some tough decisions about how to, I don't know, but what can you do here? You'll figure out where everybody is really quickly. Good point. I feel that I need an inclusion from Cowboy Carter. That was a big part of my spring. Don't want it to get lost for having come a little bit early. And my favorite song from Cowboy Carter remains bodyguard, so I'm taking it. Nice.

This is great, Nora. We haven't really had to fight over too much. We've had to fight over some things, but... Yeah, I mean, we have some disagreements, but I, bodyguard, I like it. Can you tell me why this is the one that you love? This was the first song on first listen that, like, grabbed me. Huh. It grabbed me narratively.

Like, it grabbed me musically first. I just, I think it's fun. I think it's really juicy. But it also has that sort of, like, you know, so much of Cowboy Carter and so much of Beyonce, yes, the music is incredible, but like I'm sort of embracing the fact that part of this is that she gives you a lot to think about. And like my favorite thing to, to, favorite is a weird way to put that. But like the thing that I find myself wanting to read endless think pieces on and like sort of mull over for hours and hours and

hours is like Beyonce, one of the most prominent pop culture and artist feminists of our time. and most forward-facing in that. Also someone who has made a huge part of her career revolve around being Jay-Z's wife. And the interplay of those two things being present on this bop. Like, I could think about it all day. I find it fascinating.

I also just love this song. I love to listen to it. So I think it has remained, you know, some days I think, yeah, yeah, definitely gives it around for its money. The other one that I would have thought about drafting from Calbuy Carter would have been too most wanted. I think I don't need that as much as I still want a little bit more like uptempo fun where we're shaking our asses. But that's also going to continue to be special to me.

So I'm sad that I don't have that. Although I still have one draft pick, so maybe I will. Well, we'll see what happens. I think I'm going to surprise you here. Are you surprised that I'm taking the Ariana song? we can't be friends. Wow! I am surprised.

I am surprised. This one, you know, we talked about this album, and I think one of the things that we sort of said out loud was if she doesn't care, why should we? Because it seemed like she went right back to the wicked stuff. But she's kind of starting to turn it on a little bit. It sounds like she's a little bit more focused on the music stuff. We're seeing a few more things around it.

And I still think back on the moments from this spring where I was like, wow, her S&L performance of this song, I was like, yeah, that's a big pop song. Like, it's a super chill chorus that I didn't totally get, but I think it's my favorite really chill pop song chorus in a long time. This song rocks. I dig it and it stuck with me and I want it on my team. I don't know if I would have gotten there because I'm feeling pulled in a lot of different directions but that was on my list.

I maintain I really like that album. I think it is missing certain hit you over the head components of a lot of other Ariana albums but I like that album quite a bit. So I will definitely I will be asking for an invitation to come over and listen to We Can Be Friends.
