Everything Is Content - WAGs, Man Bags & Which Footballer Gifted An Orgy To His Dad? With Jack Rivllin

Episode Date: July 10, 2026

Hey EIChampions 🏆 ! Come and take an EIC-style spin 🚗 around the football ⚽️ block: it's the World Cup's world 🌍 & we're all just living in it, baby 💋. (It's coming home FYI.)This ...week on the podcast we are without Ruchira, who is currently on honeymoon. She’ll be back in a couple of weeks and we’ll do a big wedding debrief then- but for this episode, as you will hear, we are joined by Jack Rivlin from The Upshot podcast! The show where he, alongside Zach Sweeney Lynch, covers brilliantly funny sports stories - everything from drunken dressing-room escapades to deep dives into famous sports personalities and their scandalous lives. Their current world cup coverage is also absolutely unmissable. First up, we give our predictions for Saturday's game, recommend our favourite animals to get betting advice from, and discuss the hottest football managers (spoiler: it's all of them). Then we talk about something messy- no, not Lionel - but ongoing allegations towards FIFA of corruption, US favouritism and collusion with Donald Trump. Perhaps the biggest recent example of this was the decision to rescind a red card suspension of US player Folarin Balogun and allow him to play in a last-16 match earlier this week against Belgium. As Jack calls it, it's a 'love-in' between Trump & Infantino.Next up, we're sure everyone knows what a WAG is- but in case you’re waking up from a 30-year coma- it’s a term meaning 'Wives And Girlfriends', usually attributed to the partners of professional footballers. The origin of the term is somewhat disputed- some say it was christened in 2002 with coverage of teenage Colleen after Wayne Rooney’s first Premier League goal, others say it goes back even further to the infamous purple-outfitted Posh & Beck’s wedding of 1999. We reminisce on the best to ever do it!And lastly, some salacious stories from some of the most famous men in sport! Plus lots of meandering, philandering, Haaland-pandering, tangents in the middle! We hope you enjoy ☺️ , as always please do rate, review, and follow the show! And share with your friends! And leave a Spotify comment!Love you, byeeeeeeeeeee. The Upshot2026 World Cup: The murky ties between FIFA and the US2015 FIFA corruption scandalTrump Asked FIFA to Review U.S. Player’s Suspension. Starting point is 00:00:00 I'm Beth, I'm Anoni. I'm Jack. And this is Everything is Content, the podcast that goes into the deep, dark depths of social media and current affairs so that you don't have to. We cover celebrity culture, film, news, tech, politics, and this week, football. We're the referees of pop culture blowing our saucy little whistles at every content violation. This week on the podcast, we are without Richira, who is currently on honeymoon, but she'll be back in a couple of weeks. and we will be doing a big wedding debrief then. But for this episode, as you can hear,
Starting point is 00:00:38 we are joined by Jack Rivlin from the Upshot podcast, the show where he, alongside Zach Sweeney Lynch, cover brilliantly funny sports stories, everything from drunken dressing room escapades to deep dives into famous sports personalities and their scandalous lives. Their current World Cup coverage is also absolutely unmissable. You can follow us on Instagram and TikTok
Starting point is 00:01:00 at Everything's ContentPod, and you can follow Jack and Zach at Upshot Towers on Instagram and TikTok. Okay, if we can ease in, I know it's a big ass, because this World Cup, and I am admittedly not necessarily a World Cup woman, I have been enjoying it. I would love to know, Jack,
Starting point is 00:01:15 if you can tell us your favourite moment or moments from the World Cup, 2016. Well, they were all quite on pitch for a bit for me, and then I discovered that Thomas Tuchel, the England manager, is a Mum's Net pin-up? He's my pin-up. Is he yours as well? I'm not on Mum's-Net, but I think he's,
Starting point is 00:01:30 I wanted to ask you about this, because I think he is such a gorgeous, like maybe a generational gorgeous England guy. She was literally talking to me about him before you came. She was like a really fancy him. Do you not remember showing you pictures of him at Richard's wedding, which I did. I showed everyone, I think.
Starting point is 00:01:44 Is that this sort of like England hope getting to your head and suddenly you're seeing him in a new light? I'm seeing it too, by the way. But, you know, that is, that's my man. Yeah, I mean. Isn't he stunning? I mean, no, when he was. Oh, he is gorgeous, I remember now.
Starting point is 00:01:58 About five years ago when he was Chelsea manager, people were saying that he looks like sort of gaunt, possible drug addiction. He's quite unusual looking man. But have you seen him when he's young? He's hot. He's so hard. He's so hard.
Starting point is 00:02:09 The beard maybe made him full out a bit. He's pretty hot when he's like 25. Because I've seen him between hair and no hair. I love him without much hair, but I've seen him with a kind of a comb over type situation. I didn't mind it. What did you, when Southgate was in the waistcoat and vibes were good then? I don't think we've ever had a bad looking.
Starting point is 00:02:26 Name one. I couldn't, I think they're all hot. Who was Yug and Clock for? Was he? Liverpool. I love him. Beautiful tea. He's one of the... Oh my goodness.
Starting point is 00:02:33 He's a gorgeous man. Big fan. So I think the Mum's Net last. That's been a highlight. And then I read about this England fan who had tickets to the games. Obviously tickets are like thousands of pounds. It's impossible. It's gold dust.
Starting point is 00:02:45 And he flew... He was going to Boston. He stopped off in Barcelona. You've heard about this guy. And he went AWOL for 10 days. Family couldn't get hold of them. Interpol were looking for him. Manhunt underway.
Starting point is 00:02:56 And it turns out that he lost his phone in Barcelona. and decide to just stay and watch it in the pub there. I tweet about this. I thought, everyone was going, this is the most, what a legend. I went, what inconsiderate, bloody man. And I was like, I might be a lonely in this, but I thought, what bloody bastard for doing that? Do you think he had tickets to begin with, or was this a big ruse to gone a jolly?
Starting point is 00:03:16 Well, so apparently he had, his flight tickets were on his phone, so once they were gone, he was like, well, hands are tied. I mean, internet cafe, embassy. It's quite easy to totally download from an email that you say. He was on the strip by that point. Maybe he's having an affair. Ram Blas was calling. Well, they found him in a bar
Starting point is 00:03:31 with just a load of other football fans. You know, no one's speaking, looking into their pint. That's so funny. Has he got kids? It's kind of thing that, like, you know, parents just like, actually, if I can get out now.
Starting point is 00:03:40 Well, there's a story as well about this group of England fans who went. Last time the World Cup was in Mexico, 86, these England fans went and ended up staying. But one of them told his wife he was going out for milk. Stayed in Mexico for 12 years. What?
Starting point is 00:03:53 Yeah. Oh. And, I mean, I'll be honest, reading about their escapades, it's not. Because the BBC sort of made it sound like this charming. There's a documentary. sort of charming. These guys went to Mexico and loved it so much they stayed.
Starting point is 00:04:02 But like it sounds like they were quite sort of brothel-based. Did he technically lie though? Because if he'd come back with milk after 12 years, on a technicality could go, it's gone off now. So we fact, my boyfriend very last minute got tickets to Boston through his family through work and told me literally like two days before, by the way, I'll be gone from Tuesday morning to Thursday.
Starting point is 00:04:22 And it was when it was the massive heat wave. So I was in the flat by myself texting like, I think I'm going to die. He just wasn't reminding. He was watching football. It was really bad. It was the Garner game. Oh, still.
Starting point is 00:04:29 So he was there. He was there. I've been doing that to my wife this week. Officially today I've said, okay, I'm not going. But like I was hovering over flights. Yeah. There's still time? Yeah, maybe the final.
Starting point is 00:04:40 Well, because we were talking, or we wanted to talk about the prices of the final, which are in the region of like 10 grand to 15 grand. Some going for like $3 million's hairs. I mean, it's podcasting. It's a gold mine, as we all know. So we'll probably all be there. Yeah. Yeah, any minute now, when he'll come for me, then I'll be.
Starting point is 00:04:59 I think that my attitude towards the cost of the tickets has been quite tempered because of, what was the thing that Timothy Shadamay loves at the NBA? Yeah, the next. The tickets to that are also like 50-K. There was people getting interviewed outside. And Americans seem to think it's quite normal to spend. Yeah, they're completely... Like, they spend the whole life savings on a sports ticket.
Starting point is 00:05:16 Even your friend, Mamdani had to kind of buy his own tickets to sit in the gods. Like, it's not... Did it? Yeah, and it's not great. Because he wouldn't buy one of the 5K ones. No. Yeah, I mean, to the European ones, I bought ones last time. They were like 40 quid.
Starting point is 00:05:28 They were like cheap. That's stunning. Because it's in the US and everything else. Yeah, it's a bit bleak. And then they keep being like, oh, there's no fan trouble. It's like, yeah, because you fucking priced all the fun fans out of it. Yeah, all the hooligans. And we say that with love.
Starting point is 00:05:40 But there have been fun fans. Like, I keep seeing videos of American women being like, we met these really funny British guys in the bar. And they were saying like, and then it's phrase that I can't even think that'll be like shit on it. And they're like, it's so funny. And it's stuff that's not even. And they're like, we're saying it all the time now. I just love it.
Starting point is 00:05:55 But I think there was such a good vibe around like, you know, if you read about America in the news, you're not going to love it. And then you go there and you realize everyone's amazing and it's so welcoming. And then obviously they've had this scandal recently, which maybe we'll come on to. And I feel like all the good vibes from America
Starting point is 00:06:06 just went. Mm-hmm. Which is a shame. And to be fact, yeah, the only good vibes from America for me is Mamdani. Not Timothy Chalb. Oh, not after the Calci thing. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:06:17 Did you like Chalamay before that? We did. Yeah. I wasn't that fast. Who has a crash that, Ruchera? Ruchera, who's not here and she's on a honeymoon, but she was, I think, waiting out for it. But I met more like the US as a concept.
Starting point is 00:06:27 I don't mind it but now after the casualty thing and then Kylie with the meta we've decided those millionaires are not our fans Billionaires What were your favourite moments about? So I've got a few. One, I really did enjoy Hurricane Kermit voice
Starting point is 00:06:40 I thought that was a short-lived It gave us what we needed to do It was very funny. I really enjoyed, maybe this was quite a while ago it was the Japan littering meme where they took videos of Japanese fans picking up litter and cleaning up and putting it and then they crudely reversed it
Starting point is 00:06:54 and said, look at these bastards taking. I mean it sparked a whole debate about domestic labour in Japan, which I was like, I'm going to, I'll get into that later. But I thought that was a very funny. Look at these Dave bastards, really politely placing litter on the floor. That is good. That was a good one.
Starting point is 00:07:09 I saw one of them saying, yeah, and then someone had reversed a video of Namar and they said, look at him, taking the shirt away from a disabled child and then moonwalking away. Oh my God. It's just great. The guy who did it, Andy Har who reversed the video, was like, because it was the last World Cup, I think when he reversed it. I think it's flared up again this time. he was like public enemy number one in Japan
Starting point is 00:07:29 they just didn't find it funny at all oh dear gotta be careful with the prank I learnt that in year seven oh god okay I thought it was good it made me think oh god what a really funny fan base
Starting point is 00:07:39 also this year I thought that Lano Messi had had that disgusting pizza this year but that was years ago yeah the one with just tomatoes yeah so they really confused me as a really may what's called fair weather not like Mayweather
Starting point is 00:07:51 as a really fair weather fan of football they do keep tricking me with I'm a real meme Lord. Any real, I see, I just assume it's from this World Cup. And so I am just like reposting. God, we've got you here. That was five years ago. I mean, my podcasters... Wouldn't have been five
Starting point is 00:08:04 actually because they're every four, so. Yeah. Maybe it's over. That's good. My part is mainly old stories. That's what we're doing. So, sorry. It's football history. It's life stories. But that's kind of when, I mean, we've spoken out of football history sort of stopped accruing, stopped growing after Michael and
Starting point is 00:08:20 David Beckham. Then I sort of checked back in for the one that I was called Kira Knightley with the legs. Who's like, Greelish. Greelish. And he's not in our... No, he's not there. Shame.
Starting point is 00:08:29 Love him. Yeah. I really loved him now. Oh, really? So who the manager then would have been Sven? Sexy or not? Yeah, sexy. Probably the biggest shagger off the ring of the manager.
Starting point is 00:08:38 Oh, 100%. I always remember that story of that kid who shaved his head like Sven and wasn't allowed to go to school. And I'm such an injustice. Not even the first time I've mentioned it on the pod. Somehow. I think I'm constantly. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:51 Yeah. I think it's just something about the job. Yeah. I think it's that. I'll find you a non-fayered one Okay What else did you like? Well, one of my favourite ones
Starting point is 00:09:00 Which he would have seen And I've just written his name down Because I was just like cute guy Sidney Lopez Cabral when he scores And then he runs to his girlfriend If I said his name right, it's really cute And he runs to her in the crowd Something I've seen the clip
Starting point is 00:09:10 So he scores this goal in a really late minute Apparently And then he literally looks around He goes and finds and he runs up And he's like get to her and he like Gives her hug and it's weird Everyone's retreating it like If he wants to he would
Starting point is 00:09:21 It was sweet Yeah it's a nice of a sweet moment I see those house happen a lot and then they're like oh no it was offside you know they get the ball under the shirt for their like pregnant wife or whatever and then they're like no sorry sorry sorry that's trick and then the other thing I love is Harland and Jude bromance which then I because I was watching so many of those videos I then got shown the Ronaldo what was his boyfriend who now doesn't play they used to play for someone together Ronaldo's Ronaldo's boyfriend Portuguese player
Starting point is 00:09:48 yeah you would know because I said this to someone and they were like oh they were like BFF when they played for Barcelona. Real Madrid. Real Madrid. See, I'm good. Anyway, they bumped into each other in a game and then had a hug even though they weren't on the same team.
Starting point is 00:10:03 So then I started watching videos of that. So I'm just watching sort of like the homerotic. I'm choosing to be there. Jude and Erland are the non-Eland? Erland. It's Erling Harland. This is going as well as I expected. I think they're the non-evil version of whoever.
Starting point is 00:10:21 Yes. Because they do, I saw one when they seem to be getting in trouble for having a little chat. And it was like me on the playground with my friend. They will have to be separated. Yeah. I haven't watched heated rivalry, but I'm imagining that this is like very similar.
Starting point is 00:10:33 Few of blow jobs, I think. But we don't know. Could be happening. I mean, two very good-looking players again. They're lovely. Not sexualise every player in the tournament. Yeah, we are being... Oh, I mean.
Starting point is 00:10:43 Okay. Erlingham is, I love Erling Harlan. I think he's more the female gays, I would say. Big, Birkin-loving brute. We should do our predictions for the match. Because when this comes out, it will be tomorrow at 10pm, I believe. And I am quite torn on this
Starting point is 00:10:56 because my nephew is Norwegian My nephew is a dog He's really patriotic So I just feel a bit guilty Norwegian dog Do they get going His mum's Norwegian His mum's human mum
Starting point is 00:11:09 My sister-in-law He is Norwegian So you have some sympathy there Yeah so I'm quite torn It's not very bad-blooded match Is it? It's like quite I mean maybe Vikings I guess if we can get angry about that
Starting point is 00:11:19 But I feel like a lot of time has passed And then we've done a lot worse I'd say Well also my dog is a child while so she was devastated with Mexico losing. And she actually was, like, she was really upset when my boyfriend came to bed. He was like, she was having a straw. And then all day she was like hiding under the chair.
Starting point is 00:11:33 She was like looking up at us. Is she over it? I don't think so because I keep showing her reels of all the 12 hours of Mexico that got taken to the games wearing their little tops. And she's like, I'm just sat here. You didn't even take me? No. Oh, God, sometimes that's a bad loser.
Starting point is 00:11:47 Yeah, that's true. That's Astrid. Do you have a dog and where's it from? No, my parents got a dog who is from the Isle of White. It's probably the least exotic dog. What breed is it? Jack Russell. That's quite British.
Starting point is 00:12:00 That's a British man's name as well. Oh yeah. He's definitely been a ban for him. Yeah, he has to hand in his passport when the one comes on. He's not allowed to go. So what are your predictions? My predictions, so my animal that I follow is omelet the hamster, and omelet the hamster that England's going to win.
Starting point is 00:12:17 I also followed the Brussels sprout dog. Is it called Brussels? No, it's a Brussels. or something like that. That doesn't sound real. It's the EWock one. It's the one that looks like an EWalk and there's definitely something I've lost him now. I don't trust it.
Starting point is 00:12:32 I'd trust a hamster's coming in the future. He definitely projected that it was England. I also have this theory about 2026 that it's just giving it's coming home. Well, it's giving strange sports outcomes and historic sports outcomes with the Knicks winning Arsenal. It stands to reason. Yeah. 60 years since 66. There's a sixth thing going on.
Starting point is 00:12:51 Oh, but then that's the devil's 666. Well, I'd take a deal with the devil for me. Yeah, happy, it's worth it. Send myself for this. For this. Yeah. What do you think? I don't have a predictive animal because I was following these lions in the zoo in Kent.
Starting point is 00:13:03 And what do they do? They got one of the group games wrong, so they're out. So I don't currently, I'm looking for a predictive animal if anyone's offering a mystic beast. I know there's a duck, but I don't know if he's predicting or is just a mascot? No, that's the mascot ducks. And he's not predicting at all. He's just doing one thing. I think it might be more than one.
Starting point is 00:13:17 Is there a Norwegian predictive animal? What animal would that be an elk? Is that racist? Is that an animal? Oh, yeah. Sorry, I was thinking of an elf. Also, native to Norway. Sometimes I get confused, you know, because you think reindeer are real.
Starting point is 00:13:31 But you know, sometimes there's so close to being mythical that you forget that it is real. And I think a dragon is real. And I'm like, no way, it's time. Much to consider. So much to think about. Sorry. Sorry, sorry, sorry, slouching. Sorry about that.
Starting point is 00:13:45 Gentleman Jack is a teenager about a lesbian. What's her, like, or she's like a aristocratic or? She's like an aristocratic or? I've not watched. con artist in some way. I just know she's my own. All I know is that reform got in where she's from and the museum
Starting point is 00:13:58 about her had to take down the pride flags. Are we going to increase this? I know. What are you thinking? Prediction. Without an animal's support. You can do, we just said team, but you can say actual schools.
Starting point is 00:14:09 I'm saying England, but I'm saying penalties. Oh, I was thinking three to England but I think something strange happened. I think someone's shorts fall down. Yeah, and they get sent off for that or they get sort of man of the match. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:22 card, yellow card, whatever's up front of black card. Yeah. Nando's black card. This is going around, but I do agree. They need to invent a card that's like, you're doing really well. Keep going to go. He's like, keep going, sweetie. You're doing a great job. I want that one. I think we're going to win. I think so, but I think Harlem will score. And I was
Starting point is 00:14:38 more scared. I'm more scared now than Mexico, whereas everyone else seemed more scared for Mexico. Did you start from watch? So I try to miss the game. I went to sleep at 9.30. I woke up at 1.52 in the morning. I thought, okay, it's been on for 52 minutes. It's absolutely fine. I checked on Twitter. and it hadn't even started. So I stayed up.
Starting point is 00:14:54 I did not get to sleep into about 4.30. But it was great because I didn't intend to. My boyfriend's a huge football fan and he didn't watch it. He didn't. Fake fan.
Starting point is 00:15:04 My boyfriend went to Sven's house to watch it and they all went home after got delayed to watch at a friend. A friend's house. He'd like put it on and they were like it's too late. We'll all just watch it in our respective houses now. What because the hour?
Starting point is 00:15:13 Because it got moved back. So he came home, slept on the sofa, woke up to watch it. And then I had the balcony door open and I don't know where all these people coming from. The streets were alive outside of flat. So I woke up and I was like, we've won!
Starting point is 00:15:23 And then he like came in and I was really asleep. So I don't really remember that's when Astrid, my dog had a strop. So you actually had action in the street from fans. There was people just walking down the streets. Cheering. Literally, I woke up to the sound of cheers. I wish we'd gone to the pub. Where were you?
Starting point is 00:15:35 And did you want to a pub? I went to a pub in Brentford, quite random. Oh my God. My friend, because originally they were like, not many pubs are going to be doing it. So we booked that and then they were like, anyone can stay open. But we wanted to stay loyal. And yeah, I mean, it was very surreal, but one of the best sports watching experience. I was really tired.
Starting point is 00:15:52 I kind of wish I had stayed. It did look fun. It was good fun. The hour delay was quite punishing. Yeah. But yeah, my co-host, again, huge football fan, like goes away to see England,
Starting point is 00:16:02 was going to go to this tournament and he didn't watch. Because he had Lily Allen last night and he didn't want to be tired for it. Interesting. But then did he do the thing, which I do think is really smart where you just don't go on social media,
Starting point is 00:16:12 you watch it as if it's live? Have you watched Josh Whitakams? He made a reel of himself watching the game, and he's like sleeping on the sofa, and he's so exhausted. And he keeps waking up, being like, it's not on yet. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:16:23 And then he, like, basically, live films himself. It's really good. I felt like I'd watched it, watching that. He's a huge football guy. I saw the school children who had not known the thing. And it reminds me, actually, it must have been, like, I think it must be in 2002, went into school because it was a game at, was that? It was in Japan or Korea.
Starting point is 00:16:38 Yes, that would sort of make sense. And we all went to school to what, and we got kicked out. But I remember vividly having a hot dog at about 7.30. And I went, it is a beautiful game. Yeah, morning football. That was special. We lost, but it was, that was like, all-time. It was formative memory.
Starting point is 00:16:51 Yeah. But nice to have a Saturday night. Oh, yeah. I'm excited. I'm going to say that because I know we're going to win because of what Omelet said and because of what you said, the one person on the podcast. Is the hen? No, I don't think so. Okay.
Starting point is 00:17:05 I'm on a stag actually, but we've. I feel like that's more, I think we're sort of going to be, to be, to be fair. I think we're meant to be like going to the club. The club might have the football on. Yeah, do you know what? I swear there was a time where there were gigs and then they were like showing it on the big screen. We'll be in amongst. it. We're in bath.
Starting point is 00:17:21 It's like Glastonbury, you find out. People were saying that they're going to show you it in Love Island. And I saw someone tweeting me like, they're too lenient. Big Brother, World War III broke out. They wouldn't even tell you. They would never let them. They probably was savage. The Mystic Animals, there was Japan had an octopus.
Starting point is 00:17:35 Yes. I remember this. Because Germany had an octopus called Paul that was really good. It got all the way to the final. But the Japanese octopus said Japan were going to win. They lost. And they cooked it and ate it. That's absolutely far because they're such an intelligent creature as well.
Starting point is 00:17:48 Yeah, that's a culture. We can't really judge coming. The best thing, we had, the UK, we've had a cabbage trying to outlive Liz Trass. Yeah, that was good. And it did. Did anyone eat it? That is a good question. It should be in a museum.
Starting point is 00:17:59 Made a Caesar salad out of it. Someone should have mummified it. And then in years to come, they'd find it and be like, oh, the special, like the Egyptian cats. So let's talk about something messy, not Lionel. But ongoing allegations towards FIFA of corruption, US favouritism and collusion with Donald Trump. Perhaps the biggest recent example of this was the decision to rescind a red card suspension of US player following Balagan and allow him to play in a last 16 match
Starting point is 00:18:23 earlier this week against Belgium. And Donald Trump actually owned up to calling up Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, and someone he has a bit of a bromance with and asked him to review the suspension of Balaghan who was American's top scorer in the World Cup. In a press conference he said, I saw the play and I'm a person that loves sports
Starting point is 00:18:41 and was a good athlete and I understand sports really well, really well, I should have done the accent. I thought you were going to you. And that wasn't a foul. No. That's Marge Simpson. That wasn't even an infraction. These two were great athletes that got tangled up.
Starting point is 00:18:55 The reversal is not totally unheard of, but is incredibly unusual. And this is actually the first time since 1962 that FIFA has allowed a player to appear in a World Cup game that they were otherwise suspended for. We at EIC headquarters were quite interested about how Balligan actually felt about it. So we thought about DMing him, but he doesn't have Instagram. So Beth DM'd Michael Owen. Just to see. He didn't reply. Oh, not yet.
Starting point is 00:19:19 No. He will. He might have by now. We were like, Bath was like, Michael Owen will have opinions, but even better than that, Jack. What are your thoughts?
Starting point is 00:19:26 Yeah, who needs Michael Owen? I feel really sorry for following Palagan. He has kind of said like, stop putting me in the bloody middle guys. But, yeah, I mean, it's a total disgrace. A line was crossed.
Starting point is 00:19:38 And Trump really dropped them in it because they were like, oh, according to Article 27 of our code, we've reviewed this with the independent committee. He went, I'll show you the text. Yeah, he was like, yeah, I called him three times. It was so embarrassing.
Starting point is 00:19:48 Yeah. I mean, the love in between those two is sickening. Did he just invent the FIFA Peace Prize to give it to Trump? So Trump didn't get the Nobel Prize. And then in fact, like, three weeks later, people were like, oh, we're actually going to do a Peace Prize. Never done it before. And the winner is Donald Trump.
Starting point is 00:20:06 And it's just been so sycophantic. He's got like that weakness for rich men that, like, Peter Mandelson has, you know? Or Tony Blair, they just like love being around rich people. But he's also trying to do his own, like, personality cult thing, infantino. So he has made it in the TV channel's contracts. They have to show him on screen once per game. And then, so they did this in Qatar and everyone booed when he showed on screen. So now they have to do different audio to mask booing.
Starting point is 00:20:35 It's just a fucking, like. Dictators. Yeah, it's just so. Yeah. I did see that Set Blatter had tweeted something, which if set blatter is, and so he was saying like, he said red cards are not overturned by political phone calls. they are overturned by rules, evidence and independent bodies. Like if set bladder is coming to, coming out against you in matters of corruption,
Starting point is 00:20:53 obviously for legal reasons, was cleared of all corruption and whatever else, I think, just charges of like moral compromisation or something. But still, you probably go, oh, I might have fallen foul here. If that's the person that goes, you might have been corrupt. So on Twitter said it's like Fred West criticizing your caving technique. I actually long for the blatter. Like back then it was just like people. get given Rolexes, their wives get given handbags
Starting point is 00:21:18 and you just have to tell them yes, we'll vote for you to host the tournament. Sure. Whereas now, I mean, there was that one guy there was this American official Chuck Blazer who was taking so many bribes that he had two apartments in Manhattan, one for him and one for his cat.
Starting point is 00:21:31 Oh my gosh. Who's the, like, was it a car log? Like Chanel's, yeah, what was that cat called? Shupette. Shupette. I don't know who's here, but yeah. Is that vibe? Inherited like millions of pounds.
Starting point is 00:21:42 Chuck Blazers's cat. Squandered it away, though, I heard. Really? Yeah, I actually did feed that. Didn't they say that it spent all the money? Spend all the money. Or what? Catnet, maybe.
Starting point is 00:21:51 It might have it could have a problem. Yeah. I just can't believe all of this happened. And then it was an embarrassing. I mean, even if I know it's quite an embarrassing match, like the goals I just went, this is so, they did get sort of dog walked. And I think it's fine to criticize.
Starting point is 00:22:04 Like the USA has got a world class trophy winning, award winning soccer team. It's fine to go, the men are not actually all that. Yeah. It is good that they lost, so, isn't it? It's fantastic. I was rooting for them until. Yeah. I love an underdog story. As Kate Birdie, everyone would have been absolutely like, well, they're a younger team or at least their, you know, no one believes in them. And then big daddy Trump made us cool, big orange insert word here, which I'm not going to say, made the call. And people go, oh, I don't like this so much. He's really, he's had their pants down. Yeah. And Fife's had our pants down. Everyone's pants down. And normally I'd like that, but in this case, I don't.
Starting point is 00:22:39 Yeah, normally I'd give it the card saying, carry on. Like, it's kind of good that it showed just how naked the, like, collusion is. I guess. I don't think it's going to change anything. But does it open the floodgates for more things like this to happen? Because it kind of resets the tone of what, like how politics is allowed to interfere. Yeah, will he resign? Will there be consequences?
Starting point is 00:22:59 No, I think if they'd won? Do you think that would have maybe, everyone would be like, enough is enough? But maybe that reckoning's coming in like 10 years. Because the conversations around fairness and sport for other issues are, So massive. And then something like this, which is clearly very unfair. There's that famous tweet about Donald Trump where it goes, oh my God, he's really done it now.
Starting point is 00:23:18 Let's see how he wriggles out of this one. Ah, he's wriggled out of this one. It feels like every famous powerful man now is just kind of wriggly. It's annoying. I thought it's kind of priced in with Trump, but like random football chief. It's like, why do we have to have this guy? Yeah. Did you see them doing the Trump dance, Belgium?
Starting point is 00:23:34 I like that. I can't believe they've got so many people to root for Belgium as well. That's a miracle. That is that the World Cup obviously normally about global unity and whatever and in that moment
Starting point is 00:23:45 I went it actually kind of is we all forgot everything I didn't see that oh you'll enjoy it you know the dance though Yeah yeah yeah They didn't do it that well But it doesn't matter
Starting point is 00:23:55 Oh god no I was actually then before that thinking about What's the Elon Musting that he does Oh he does really weird He does the Nazis salute He does not a Nazi salute But there's also a dance he does
Starting point is 00:24:05 Which maybe is similar to that But it's like that Or something He hasn't really popped up in the World Cup, has he? I guess he's... Actually, that's such a good point. I haven't seen him saying anything. A welcome break, but I thought maybe he'd be like... Where has he got? Yeah, rocket the ship is way in.
Starting point is 00:24:17 Because have you seen the celebs in the crowd? I've seen like DiCaprio looking kind of bored, but that's what people say he looks like all the time. And then who else? I'm trying to think. I'm trying to think as well. I've seen some Kardashians, I'm sure. Chris Rock. There's been a lot of... I did watch a compilation of all the celebs. That's kind of where I really lean in, but I forgot who I saw.
Starting point is 00:24:34 Any surprising ones? I can't, they're kind of celebrities at everything so much now that nothing surprising anymore. They love like a front row of a... I think we're going to see more. The last World Cup, Salt Bay was on the pitch, holding the trophy.
Starting point is 00:24:47 You know the trophy, it says on their website, like, the trophy can only be held by former winners or like super senior people and they fucking Salt Bay is holding up. What a phenomenon Salt Bay was
Starting point is 00:24:56 because it's such a flash in the pound thing and so like inconsequential but so of its time. He's rich as hell now. Is he still? Wasn't there something criminal happening after that or something? Well, Infantino unfollowed him on Insta.
Starting point is 00:25:07 They were like best mates. That's why he had the trophy. he got it for him and then everyone kicked off and he unfollowed him I love football drama Have you heard of him since? It's on deliveroo
Starting point is 00:25:15 Is it? Well I think maybe the thing wasn't at the restaurant was charging so much money that people got really angry and then it kind of just disappeared Money laundering I'm sure we spoke about it in the podcast
Starting point is 00:25:24 I've got to stop making out allegedly It's on delivery but not the gold state but there is a stake on there for like I don't know hundreds of pounds Who is delivering a steak first of all It's just not going to travel well
Starting point is 00:25:35 and then that much money people just want to throw the money away from salt bit And then we're at home just doing the salt-based salting. And it'll be a ghost kitchen as well. Yeah. Jesus. Probably.
Starting point is 00:25:45 Well, it's just like an industrial estate somewhere with that gold-plating. Yeah, a bit of Timfoil. I can see it. Do you think in there they're doing the salt-based salting? I would. I think you'd have to. There must be something in the contract. You can't just get a grinder on it.
Starting point is 00:25:58 Someone said that the restaurant is just full of like people with air pods in, like sitting at the same table, not talking. But I think it's just like any of those expensive Mayfet works. Like the food isn't actually that good. It's like you're there to be seen. and take videos and I'm just depressed thinking about it here. Yeah, I don't, yeah, I forgot about him. That's random.
Starting point is 00:26:14 So who do you think it's going to be on the pitch? Or that's not going to happen again because no one's. Donald Trump must somehow find a way. He's going to hold that cup no matter who wins. Because he did it. They had the tournament there last year as the buildup and he was in the trophy lift. And you know, Cole Palmer, who's not actually in the England team, but he's there looking at him like, what the fuck?
Starting point is 00:26:30 He's such a cow. I mean, I remember also being reminded of a tweet that he did in 2018 where he kind of was like, we've got a great bid for this. It'd be a shame of the people that we see. support, don't want to support us. I mean, he's always been such a cow. Even in the late degenerative stages of whatever's going on with him, he is such a cow. I don't even mean that as a compliment. I really didn't think you did. As I normally, as I often do. When he calls someone a cow, if she calls me a cow, she means it nicely. Jack, you're such cow. Noted. His son's like
Starting point is 00:27:02 a footballer Trump. Which one? Which, yeah. He's a really tall. Don Graham. Baron. Baron. Baron's a football. I swear Baron is every time I check, Baron's got a new thing going on. Because he's like six foot. He's really tall. 40. And he had private lessons from Wayne Rooney. Of course, Wayne. And then apparently Wayne took Colleen and maybe the whole family to the White House to meet Trump.
Starting point is 00:27:22 This is first term Trump. And Trump made a pervy comment. He said something like, oh, they told me English women were beautiful. And Colleen said she told her mum and her mum just goes, dirty bastard. Which I love. Also, he's normally flirting with the man. He loves powerful men. He loves powerful men.
Starting point is 00:27:36 He loves him. He wasn't, yeah, he loves man, Danny. I'm surprised he wasn't, sort of saying little bits and pieces to Wayne's type. He loves a really handsome man. It makes sense he would like a scouse woman, I think. Yeah. Lania's kind of spiritually, scouse but not in a, no, not spiritually, visually. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:50 Because scouse women are wonderful. That's such good. Yeah, I see that. We should talk about the wags. On the topic of Colleen. Obviously, everyone knows what a wag is, but in case you're waking up from a 30-year coma, it is a term meaning wives and girlfriends usually attributed to the partners of professional footballers. The origin of the term is somewhat disputed.
Starting point is 00:28:08 Some say it was christened in 2002 with coverage of teenage Killeen after Wayne Rooney's first Premier League goal. Others say it goes back even further to the infamous purple-outfitted Pasha Beck's wedding of 1999. I'm sure it must have been pre-Colene. However it started, it exploded in usage in the early noughties, which was an era that saw a major shift in tabloid coverage of the sport, with front pages not only dedicated to the highs and lows of world-class football, but also what was happening off the pitch? luxury shopping sprees, wild nights out, affairs, inviting, we couldn't get enough.
Starting point is 00:28:40 So Jack, I know this is actually an expert topic of yours. It is, yeah. Bread and butter. You've done episodes on this. Historically speaking, I think you will hold this up. I love wax. I think we didn't know what we had till we're gone. I mean, I don't think we deserve anymore because it was as delicious as it was and as interesting as it was.
Starting point is 00:28:58 It was so problematic. It was sexist. It was of its time. But I do think I love the glamour. I loved the idea that these powerful women were just more of the story but we're past the era now. Yeah, it's gone quiet, hasn't it?
Starting point is 00:29:14 Well, they retreated. Yeah, I don't think they can exist. It's one of those things that can only work when it works because it was so organic. And if you tried to recreate that wild culture now, I just don't think it would. It was just so of its time. And it was seeing them together and them hanging out.
Starting point is 00:29:28 It was just like the crossing of worlds. I don't know, it was really... Yeah, because it was so crazy. How many... So you had, 2006. High point. England are in Germany for the World Cup. You've got Posh Spice, Posh and Bex, arguably the two most famous people in the world at that point.
Starting point is 00:29:42 Top tier. And then you've got Ashley Cole and Cheryl Cole before he really spoiled that for everyone. Who else is there then? Would it be Clancy or that's pre-Clancy? Yes, Abby Clancy was. But during that tournament, the tabloids did her for doing Coke. I remember seeing the picture really close up.
Starting point is 00:29:59 It looks like she's in the back of a cab, but I don't know where she was. I can see it in my mind's eye. She was just trying to have a good sign. No, we don't condone that. But also she was, I imagine, trying to have good time. It's so funny. This is a quick tangent.
Starting point is 00:30:09 I was thinking about how all of those like cocaine K and that kind of thing. And now you have Charlie X, X, X, X, just singing about doing Coke all the time. Madonna's new song that's got loads of, like, visuals about doing Coke. I wonder if people would tell you off of doing Coke now, even though I feel like we're living in a way more conservative landscape. It was like back then. So interesting. Isn't it? It's like Coke is culture now.
Starting point is 00:30:28 It was kind of, you know how the tabloids had to have this thing where they had to make it a moral. lecture thing just to justify invading people's privacy. It's basically a legal point. I mean obviously they were doing all their phones as the realisation later. So they had to kind of make it like oh this person's supposed to be a role model
Starting point is 00:30:46 but they're doing this. So there's this big like shame thing around the wags and the players to be fair who are all worse. That is such a good point. I wonder if we've actually like we haven't do criminalised drugs that's not what I mean.
Starting point is 00:30:58 We've reclaimed party culture so it's like the press can't even get you for it now because Charlie X-X has spoken about so much. Coke's definitely bigger now, isn't it? Yeah, but also we were, we actually want to talk about this podcast, but cocaine and smoking, everyone's doing it so much
Starting point is 00:31:10 that I think we've got to stop. Like, Dool-A-Lipa is smoking in every picture saturation point. To the point where it's like, I actually think we're going to reverse now and everyone's going to go. Whereas Abby Clancy, she would have a SIGI and I thought, icon.
Starting point is 00:31:21 Yeah, she was a proper icon. She came through it, so to Pee. Because I loved her when she was on Britain's Nextstop model. Did you watch? Did you watch that? Was a contestant or a judge? She was a contestant. So that's how she came up.
Starting point is 00:31:32 her and then she got her own spin-off show where she went to the US and I remember her going to Ed Hardy and like all of these clothes me and my sister being like mom we need Ed Hardy and where they together that's how they met when she was on this. I think they met after that when she's modeling but they're like love so obviously if you listen to the beginning of their podcast you get the whole that's just they're great those two you don't you don't get I don't think you could who's our couple now who's well I know I've by sight I know a lot of the wife and girlfriends but it's very much less they are not retreating but I do think it's a case of they have positioned
Starting point is 00:32:01 themselves, they've got their own social media, their own businesses, they are in their own right businesses. The tabloids don't really have, I mean, they will wade in and go, sort of posting on flattering picture or suggest, or she's just an influencer, but it's just such a different, I don't know most of their names, I know a couple of the wives, but I really don't.
Starting point is 00:32:17 I'm not familiar, whereas I was seeing, 2006, you would see Victoria Becken more often see your mum or dad. Can we say that the lionesses have wags or does it not really work? Because my couple would be Leah Williamson and I'll Smith. Yeah. I mean there's teammates and stuff which is so fun. I like
Starting point is 00:32:33 that a lot which is what the kind of women's football does have over the men's. I mean it happens in the men's but obviously it's not. It's not on the open. There's this documentary coming out and keep getting advertised I'm sure you've seen it about this one guy that was like the first gay footballer and then he moved to the US and just disappeared. Do you know what I'm talking about? He was living in a
Starting point is 00:32:49 hotel. Yeah, have you seen this? A UK footballer. So he's a UK footballer in the 70s and he realised he was, I can't really, do you want to tell it because I can't quite remember. I mean he basically realised he was gay and just disappeared off the face, yeah. He can't abandon the family and disappeared, but then went and lived in a motel or something. In a motel, ran the motel for like 30 years.
Starting point is 00:33:08 And someone found him and he's now made a documentary. I don't know if it's out yet, I keep going out. It looks amazing. I love an ITV on this. Well, it is. Sheridan Smith could play him. Oh, drama. Oh, a drama. Oh, a drama.
Starting point is 00:33:18 So they've literally made an actual documentary. No. And he's interviewed and they're like, someone discovered him. He literally just disappeared from public life. That's fascinating. But yeah, it's so mad because statistically, so many of those players must be gay
Starting point is 00:33:30 but do we have any... Well, you think, okay, Noni has an estimation on how much of the population is gay that is significantly higher because of I think her... Well, I thought, my boyfriend said, I don't know what the conversation was, but he was at how many people do you think
Starting point is 00:33:42 are gay statistically? And I wanted to say 30%, but I was like, I'll be conservative, 20%. Anyway, it's apparently like, I think for older generation, it's like 0.8%. And then maybe Gen C, it's like 2.70. It's that low.
Starting point is 00:33:56 I know. I know. 5 to 10. I know. I actually, somewhere inside, I was thinking 50-50. Because if we're including all types of queer, which is the spectrum, and my other belief is that everyone is by. Right.
Starting point is 00:34:08 So it's 100%. It's 100%. But they can't accept that. Also, it's self-reporting, I've had to. So lots of people... So the older generation is saying 0.8. I mean, they would say... Well, they've not asked me.
Starting point is 00:34:17 How many people are gay? As the older generation. Oh, yeah, the older generation. Some of them are in this room. I've not taken that test. People are gay in the UK. On the ground reporting. Yeah, 2.0.
Starting point is 00:34:28 1% of the UK adult population identifies. So 1 in 50. That feels wrong. But I guess we're Londoners. Oh yeah. Then if you go lower, the young ones, it's like 8%. 16 to 24. It's getting towards your gas.
Starting point is 00:34:44 It can't just be people who have become gayer. It's just. They're allowed to say. Exactly. And football, I think football's kind of slowly happening. Because it's happened in, what was it, Gareth had, no, who was the really famous rugby player that came out again? Oh, Gareth Thomas, yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:57 Garret Thomas. But we haven't had that in football yet, have we? No, there's a German player, I forget his name, who was like, but again, it was like post-career. And then there was an F-1 driver, Michael Schumacher's brother. Ah. Yeah. It's actually devastatingly sad when you think about it, this 2026.
Starting point is 00:35:11 It's absolutely wild. Maybe that's something that we need to start. Well, and then will the term wag evolve to? Because it's kind of, the terms kind of dropped out as well. I think we did decide. I think the EHRC did say, so the Equality and Human Rights Commission. I mean, it took them until 2010. to come out and say, look, this is a sexist term,
Starting point is 00:35:30 it's offensive, it's used to demean women. But there's something enduringly cunty and also very camp about it. I like it. And I think there is some, there's an argument to be made that having the women be a part and having the glamorous women, especially be a part of the landscape of football, did allow a lot of that homeroticism and a lot of that.
Starting point is 00:35:50 I really enjoy it, but I think that's why people were like, this isn't right. I think if you're engaging with it where we're coming from, which we were looking up to the wags, thought they're really cool. And even now, if I'm meeting up with, like, my partner's friends, I'll think of us as like the wags. But I guess there's the other angle, which as the media, was very much using it to be derogatory and misogynistic. Because it was Garrette Southgate that said it was disrespectful. Yeah. But they were, I mean, it was such a fun moment because they were doing
Starting point is 00:36:15 those mad shopping sprees in Germany. Oh my God. $57 grand in an hour was one of them. And they just have all the bags. The bags of the bags. I think it's Ellen Reeves, who was Frank Lampod's wife or girlfriend. Yeah. wag. And she got denied boarding on the flight because she had five pieces of hand luggage. And then Posh Spice supposedly brought 30 sunglasses. I had 50. Oh, maybe it was 50.
Starting point is 00:36:35 Because sometimes, I mean, if I've been big at TK. Max, I might. That's got two pairs and about right now. I've got two pairs of about that. I've always thought I was. Easily become 30. Easily. On a flight, you know, it's a six week holiday. Yeah, I mean, I don't think, it's sunny probably in Germany.
Starting point is 00:36:48 Yeah. I'd be like here. Good point, actually. There were many in spas and doors. They were, also, their drink was champagne. with strawberry syrup. Did you know that? No.
Starting point is 00:36:57 That was the like... Is it a cocktail with the name or? Is that a Cere Royale? But is that... That's normally like fancy. I didn't think it was strawberry flavour, doesn't it? I heard it was strawberry syrup or red. There's an amazing article in 442 magazine
Starting point is 00:37:08 where they like go back there. There was this bar Garibaldi's that was Wagg HQ. And then they all stayed in this top hotel. And I did hear, give a bit of exclusive gossip for you that posh spice still goes back to Barden every year because there's a really good aesthetics doctor that she likes. I don't know if you can use that or if that's... Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:24 I believe allegedly. And also I love spreading misinformation. Yeah. But they're in this mad hotel. And then Sven, the manager, his wife, was also an icon, Nancy Delolio. I loved her. And she was hosting all these, like, very, like, tasteful, incredible banquets with, like, you know, oysters and stuff. And I think the wags just want to get back to Garibaldi's, never champagne with strawberry cereal.
Starting point is 00:37:44 Dance on the tables. This is the same with all of that culture. But the other thing is that I always forget, it's the invention of the phones. Like, they were going out, they were having fun. They were arguing. They were falling in and out of clubs. But unless someone was literally there, like a paparats. No one was there to kind of film.
Starting point is 00:37:57 You don't really see celebrities in the wild in the same way like Soho would have been so populated because it wouldn't really matter if someone saw you whereas now because of phones you just can't have that anymore. And also I think there was an element of some of the wags tipping off press for the... Do you remember they were doing these photos where they were walking the line?
Starting point is 00:38:14 And do you remember at the time there was that M&S advert where they sang, here come the girls, and they're watching a line? So the tabloids like really got into that and then, you know, the big names didn't want the press harassing them. They didn't need it. And then there was this theme park trip
Starting point is 00:38:28 where an undercover journalist infiltrated because there was the wags, but there was also like just sisters, friends, like big groups. So no one really knew who was who was who, but they worked out that one of them was actually an undercover journalist. And apparently, I don't know which wags,
Starting point is 00:38:41 but they cornered her and threatened to rip her hair extensions out. So this is like the prequel to Wagatha Christie. Yeah. Like an actual IRL journalist in the group is literally. What's that cilla black thing when she exposed to a journalist? She goes, and she's a journalist, ladies and gentlemen. That is what happened.
Starting point is 00:38:57 I've not seen that. She goes on blind day. On blind day? Oh, I've only she'd been there. What being like this person's pretending to be a contestant? So they did that, but they... What did our Graham say? I mean, probably something, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:39:10 Cattie. Knowing Graham. Oh, I'm obsessed. I am obsessed. So it was quite like a... My question is always why, I get why there weren't pop star. Pop stars didn't marry footballers before that because footballers were not. They were a bit knobbly, bit meat and potato.
Starting point is 00:39:23 They ran pubs. But obviously, footballers suddenly were like sexy, rich. It's the richness in that. And then why now have we gone past that? Because footballers are now way richer than they were then. But now they all seem to be with their childhood sweethearts. Yeah, I wonder if it's because when you start really young, because don't professional, like managers want you to be in relationships
Starting point is 00:39:43 that you're not like going out crazy. And I wonder if you've had, say, you're one of those players that moves out the ranks from very, very young, you're not exposed to people all the time. If you're constantly in training, you're never going out drinking. Then maybe you get rich, young and then you don't trust people around you. I wonder if you have quite an arrested development because you're kind of, if you're in that funnel
Starting point is 00:39:59 from like, you know, someone starts so young. Wayne Rooney was 16, wasn't it? Yeah. Kulim was still at school. It's crazy. So maybe is that. I do also think there is more of a distaste to walk, like the wealth gap is just that point now
Starting point is 00:40:12 where like it's kind of pre-French Revolution. It's maybe to humanise the players a little bit more to say like we can't have these partners going out looking the picture of glamour, the picture of, they were all kind of business women, but they, that wasn't advertised, they were, but, you know, they were looking like there were ladies at lunch, ladies that spent 57 grand and, you know, 45 minutes. Maybe there's something there. And I think there's a lot to be said for, even at the time, it really exposed a lot of people's, it explodes a lot of class myths about, okay, suddenly we've got, it was the era of like Katie Price. It was the era of Jade Goody. It was the era when suddenly a working class footballer could have lavish wealth. And I think Marina Hyde wrote a piece in 2006 and she wrote, and she wrote, it has produced a riot of censorious articles in some sections of the press which have essentially reminded us that working class people shouldn't have money
Starting point is 00:40:59 because they're only vulgar with it. I think it was the coverage really. That idea of like new goreached new money, that kind of thing. It said look at these tacky women with all this money and I think there's certainly misogyny in reporting now but they're a lot more covalued with it. And yet they influence all of fashion. I remember being so obsessed and that was when kind of like labelling and branding and all of that stuff became like such a big thing.
Starting point is 00:41:22 I want to quickly go back to pre-examination. sexy footballers because like the George Bess of it all and like the people who was like smoking literally whilst playing weren't they like drinking and half time maybe George Bess probably that is so much I'm kind of fascinated by that
Starting point is 00:41:34 because they must have been were they actually quite unfit in hindsight like as in not hot fit but like genuinely I mean George Bess was hot he was really good but his thing was he was he was always dating beauty queens
Starting point is 00:41:45 so I guess that was the like standards that's like the influencer of the time yeah so it was always like Miss Worlds which as we had Victoria Angeloni on our pod and he pointed out he was like that's quite a
Starting point is 00:41:56 closeted gay guy move I think to be like oh yeah who does everyone fancy Miss World he's got a theory about George Best I'll let him explain it
Starting point is 00:42:03 but you could so apply that to Trump as well obviously he used to judge the Miss World contest and he does seem to have a crush on every man he would be a happier if he was just doing
Starting point is 00:42:11 I think though that you could that translates for me he's half a toy male Joan Rivers and unfortunately went into politics yeah such a shame
Starting point is 00:42:18 but yeah I mean George Best was obviously caning it but you could then I mean even in 2006 you've got like players playing hung over the Brazilian players who won the World Cup four years earlier were like party
Starting point is 00:42:30 animals. They were like really... The thing I really miss is now football is like they can't live that life because they're so rich and so famous and they're now very sheltered. So like they still do the parties. We get sent stories all the time about these parties where like you arrive, sign an NDA. They can't do any drugs because of the testing apart of laughing gas so they're all like really... Also no video of someone a few years ago doing like and he got in loads of trouble. Yeah, I mean, loads of them, honestly. There was like, someone put it on their Snapchat.
Starting point is 00:42:55 So now it's like, like, we get sent a lot of these stories and they're like, it's a lot of like escort agencies, NDAs, laughing gas, sleeping pills. And it's like quite sad. And sometimes you get footage of these like house parties and they're like, they're a bit shit. It's a bit dead. Whereas like, you know, there was something pretty fun about them going to China White and just like, feel sickle themselves in a cab. Oh my God. I used to love going to China White. I've never been.
Starting point is 00:43:19 And Mahiki. I was like 14. Mhiki Mondays. No, there was always famous people though They would always, they would just be in the club I used to go with my sisters who were much older And I would get hammered within like one minute Of drinking out the treasure chest
Starting point is 00:43:29 So I can't really remember But it would be like a normal thing To see quite famous people just in nightclubs You're 14? Yeah, so impressive to me My eldest sisters at 18 months apart My eldest would go in with her passport Emily would have her driving licence
Starting point is 00:43:42 And I would have her Which they don't have any more Which are like these ID card things That were yellow and blue Remember they were like But Tiffany used to know someone on the door So we'd all go in Oh, 14, I was locked in my room, video games.
Starting point is 00:43:53 I was like, I was at the pub, maybe at 15. And I remember I was saying this someone the other day. I used to get, probably they never ID me because me and my friends would get white wine and we'd be quite picky about the wine. So that looks quite growing up. But I think we really were quite picky about the wine. Does that work? Yeah, we were like, oh, what's that? So you got something, anything drier.
Starting point is 00:44:09 And it'll be with a soda piece, not a sprite. But it's, yeah, the clubs is a man we'd get in. But also, we would just stand outside Tesco's and wait for someone. We'd be like, can you go back in? And like, they could see us from the till. And also, the past, we looked. 14. Did you ever have the fake IDs?
Starting point is 00:44:22 They're like European driving license or like national ID card? No, I just have my, I used to take my sisters. They worked really well until I was about 17, then it got way harder. Yeah, they started scanning. They never used to look. They would just be like,
Starting point is 00:44:34 sometimes we'd go out with provisional and be underage and they would just be like, I'm not doing that much. No idea? Yeah, literally I think it was that. What was going to say, we did this episode about like what wealth does your brain and it was all about how your world
Starting point is 00:44:44 just got so much smaller because you keep having to privatize everything. So you have to like go on a private jet. You have to go to like private members clubs and you can't be in reality. So you're right. That idea of the suffocation of like these parties where there's not really anyone there.
Starting point is 00:44:55 Everything's all regulated. I do think there is a certain point with money. I mean, this is written about, but you actually tip over into that much wealth and life gets worse. Yeah. Do you think that's true if you're not famous?
Starting point is 00:45:04 Like you're super rich, but no one knows who you are. No, I think that's fine. So it's the fame component. No, but then I do think it wrecks your brain. I think if you can have anything and everything you want, what is there to do? Like, everything must be.
Starting point is 00:45:16 Because you are just an adult baby. You never have friction in your life. Yeah. When a small thing happens that you can't deal with money, I think you fall apart. And I do see, I feel very sorry for footballers. I mean, we'll perhaps get on to talking about the many scandals of footballers, but you do think they get themselves into scrape and you go, that is a consequence of that kind of, it's not even a hard living, but it's hard physical living with so much scrutiny, so much cash, so much resting on you.
Starting point is 00:45:40 I mean, I don't feel, it's not my sympathy's not there massively, but there's a crumb of that where I go, victim of circumstance. Yeah. Harland has got a lot of other bags there. And ones I've never seen before. He's got a massive collection. I saw one way he had a burkin in a burkin. Yeah, I think he had his girlfriend's barking in his bunkin.
Starting point is 00:45:58 He was carrying her burkin. It's really cute. So I feel like, I mean, they're spending it in a fun way. Yeah, they love the fashion thing's gone like almost more than 2006. Because the men in 2006 were like River Island. I mean, apart from David, because he had a sarong-a-s-wrong, yeah. The hair, the purple wedding suit. But who is, who is a very well-dressed?
Starting point is 00:46:16 This is not my area. Who is a very well-dressed current, maybe in a current, England squad, who's looking good? Was it the whole team? Deercono. With the like leopard print kind of sash. Yeah. That was sick.
Starting point is 00:46:26 And amazing bags. The men with the bags, I'm loving it. And I don't know what, have you? Man bagged. Yeah. At music festivals, does that count? So you're doing the little crossbody kind of drug team? Yeah, cross-body, like kind of crescent shaped.
Starting point is 00:46:37 With the laughing gas in it. Yeah, of course. Yeah. The big, the huge fast gas, poking out. Yeah. Yeah. Festivals and summer. I can't find mine at the moment. It's really bothering me.
Starting point is 00:46:46 if anyone's seen it. Please do write it. Yeah, do let us know. Yeah, I did read something about men. It's time for a man bag. Jacob Lordy loves a little handbag. It's great, but you've got to do it all the time or you don't have your system
Starting point is 00:46:58 and you lose your phone. Yes, because you will just, I've actually kind of quite often now do stop using a bag and I've been manning around by just putting my keys in my phone in my pockets. So then when I do take a bag, I just walk away. Yeah. I just leave it because I'm thinking.
Starting point is 00:47:09 Yeah, one system. Like Erling Harland, he always has a bag, I think. But he wears some pretty disgraceful, like, matching. What do you call that? Like, a conicely terrible. Coad. Like, iconically terrible. Yeah, I guess in 20 years it will be the thing we look back on and love.
Starting point is 00:47:22 I mean, if you look at old footballer fashion from like the 2010s or 2000s, there are some amazing. Like Bex was pretty good at it. But like Ronaldo, for example. Yes, so specific. Like pedal pushes kind of vibe. Whenever people ask me to think of football, is the only one I think of David Seaman. And I don't know how he was dressing. I know he had the mustache.
Starting point is 00:47:41 Yeah. And I know he was gorgeous. He looks very trustworthy. Yes. Yeah. But I don't know what he was dressing like. the bench. Back then,
Starting point is 00:47:47 just horrific sort of very basic stuff. But I quite liked there was like an innocence that has been completely lost I think now because now they're like media trains
Starting point is 00:47:55 so they don't really say anything interesting and they're like they have minders. Yeah. Which I quite liked it like yeah they did some awful stuff
Starting point is 00:48:01 like that 2000s there were players who would literally set fire to cash on nightclub dance floors and like John Terry would his party trip was to wee in a pint glass I've gone with weed
Starting point is 00:48:12 for a lot of my friends at uni's part of trick they loved doing that and they really what on a dance floor. Yeah and they're trying to make you drink it and you'd be like it's warm, I know it's wee. Yeah, you could tell. You had a little sip you went, no, you'd just be like, I know you've we'd in it because you've done this so many times, Buster, like I'm not going to drink it. But across culture this is the problem. It's even like old, that early naughty singer, like on a red
Starting point is 00:48:32 carpet, people would just wear random things they've got out their wardrobe with a little scarf and a top and a pair of jeans and another top on top on top. But everyone has a stylist now. Everyone's got like everything is curated. No one has that inner personality. Maybe it is, Holland is one of one. Yeah. He definitely is. He's like, for him and his girlfriend, they,
Starting point is 00:48:49 a romantic evening is playing Minecraft. That's really sweet. They've also been their childhood sweethearts, aren't they? Yeah. I do like that a lot. I mean, obviously, Wayne is a case of this where I didn't, still together, but what journey Colleen's been on.
Starting point is 00:49:01 I mean, bloody out that woman. Do you know the squirrel sanctuary one where, so he cheated on her and he wrote the girl and notes, yeah, with a squirrel, red one. Is that why they went extinct? He cheated on her with her.
Starting point is 00:49:14 I think they still have them around where he's from, right? Right, okay. It's right there, right? Like maybe in the Lake District there's a couple of something. He cheated on her with this girl and he wrote the girl a note after saying, to Charlotte, I shagged you on 28th of December, Love Wayne Ruby. I did know. I didn't know about the sanctuary of all.
Starting point is 00:49:29 So then the squirrel sanctuary comes in because it makes the papers, and Kaleen finds out and she ran, they lived near a squirrel sanctuary, and she threw her engagement ring into the squirrel sanctuary. And to my knowledge, it's never been found. Oh my God. And the tabloids did this story too. I think I'm pretty sure they were hacking their phones. Right.
Starting point is 00:49:47 There's a blinged out squirrel out there. Yeah. We do like these live story episodes of all these players. And like we've got a tabloid archive where you read all their old stories. And every time you're like, I think this was probably phone hacking. But they knew about the squirrel sanctuary. And apparently it's probably still there sometime. Well, I will go.
Starting point is 00:50:01 And I will take a message detector. Times is hard. What I want to understand there from Wayne is why. Why do you literally giving incriminating evidence to say I slat. It's not even, you could have just written Wayne and someone could be like, you forward to that but it's literally going I cheated on my wife with you on this day if you see his Twitter from 2012
Starting point is 00:50:19 things start to make sense you went he just thought it and said it brought it and wrote it didn't he and again this might be allegedly did he spike his fellow players with Viagra ones for a non altitude reason it was Carlton Cole played for England I think it was Runei and Jermaine DeFoe
Starting point is 00:50:37 told him it was a vitamin oh he got spiked yeah I think he gave it to them I might be because there's also the way because they were trying to get a bono Was that the band? Yeah, they were just like, that'd be really funny if you had a bono during training. Apparently it was pretty funny.
Starting point is 00:50:49 He was also like the young player and they were sort of like the older boys. But to be honest, in the 90s, they used to poo in each other's shoes. Like footballers pooed each other's until like the late 90s and then something happened where it just never happened again. They'll do every other crime. It's all very like homerotic kind of fetish. It's like, how can I get, how can I swap bodily fluids with you bit and a manly well poo in your shoe? Because I can't.
Starting point is 00:51:12 Because I can't come so I'll do poo instead. I love this fraudian and any Freudian. There's something in it, isn't it? Because obviously rugby is so homerotic. Like once you see it, you can't see it. The scrum, they all just sort of up against each other. This wasn't on the dock. What, the shoe put it on the dock.
Starting point is 00:51:30 The homeroticism. Well, we're going to talk about, aren't they talking about the, wasn't something going on with Vagra this time as well? Because of the... Well, they did say because obviously they were going to play on the moon, it seemed like the altitude thing, which never really came to fruition, but everyone won. It was like...
Starting point is 00:51:42 No, I think people go like, oh my God, time was differently in this and it was absolutely fine. But that really made me laugh. And then we did win, so. It looked hard. I do think it looked hard. It was. Should I take this time to read a poem by Tim Key? I would love that.
Starting point is 00:51:55 Oh, Tim Key. There was way too much altitude, so our lads were instructed to duck down a bit and to play on their knees a bit. The Mexicans were used to the height. They had developed the equivalent of gills for this sort of stuff. And they played busy effervescent football. Mr. John Stones lay prostate like a starfish, pulling himself towards the sea level with his fists. he dreamed of the thickness of the air back in Manchester, England.
Starting point is 00:52:17 He envied his dear friend, Mr. Slabhead, who was no doubt eating a lovely pie at zero metres somewhere in the UK. One of my favourites. He should be able to go to the... If we get to the finale, which... He should be holding the cut. He should be reading a poem.
Starting point is 00:52:33 Yeah, he'll be the salt there this time, reading a poem. God, I love him. Really. So good. Let him rewrite the anthem or something. I do want to, again, get a little bit. bit Lionel Messi because we sort of discussed some scandals. We got a little glimpse at some of your
Starting point is 00:52:50 examples in an email exchange but I've had to force myself not to Google this. Which player had naughty with his dad? So I don't think he had it with his dad but he paid for his dad to have it. Oh. Is this alleged? Or we're just going to say? No, no. So this is confirmed by court's testimony. Excellent. Excellent. The gold standard approved. Namor.
Starting point is 00:53:10 So one of the biggest names of the tournament, one of the all-time top goal scorer for Brazil. just went out of the tournament crying. When he first left Brazil for Barcelona, they paid some mad fee for him. And his dad was really getting involved in the negotiation. And his dad said, like, I want my cut. But his two demands apart from some cash were unlimited coffees
Starting point is 00:53:30 while the things going on, fair enough. And I want an orgy in a top London hotel. So I've actually looked into this a lot to try and work at the hotel. I won't name them. Chilton Firehouse, surely. This is pre, I think. Well, this is 2013, which was in for a house to be open. Yeah, I'm sure.
Starting point is 00:53:47 But no, no, he wanted, like, more of this kind of Mayfair, like, Park Laney. I'm pretty sure it's the one where the queen has tea. Not the Corinthia. I think that's her. She there at the same time. Anyway, I think he basically heard. I think he said, where does the queen have tea? I've named it now.
Starting point is 00:54:02 I think he said, where does the queen have tea? And they were like, well, I want to fuck there. Yes, I'll send her a new. But not the queen. Yeah, but she could be eating tea at the same time. So it was a condition that, that the way. The transfer would not be signed until he'd had his ordeal. So I don't know if they were all like waiting in a room sort of adjacent suite, just tapping their watches.
Starting point is 00:54:20 Is his dad married to his mum? No, in fairness. I mean, their family is super messy. So the mum was dating Namar's like friend who was half her age, like early 20s. And then this rumour spread that actually the friend was gay and was just using the mum. So then Namas friends threatened to stick a broomstick up his bum. Oh, goodness me. Because they're absolutely Neanderthals, obviously.
Starting point is 00:54:43 And Nama was kind of laughing along with it. I mean, he's mental. But anyway, the president of the Brazilian club testified in court about this orgy. So I don't think Nymar was in the orgy with his dad. Because I was thinking it reminds me of, you know, the dad and son that went to Bonnie Blue together. It's kind of giving, it's kind of giving that. Do they stand in line together? I think they are in line.
Starting point is 00:55:04 Yeah, they are in line together. That is revolting. And I think he'd left his wife at home. Go home for a roast. It's such an interesting. Went out for milk. That's so interesting that he wanted to have enough. I mean, fair play.
Starting point is 00:55:12 Like. As my parents get older, I do think, God, I wish I had more money so I could let them do the things they really want to do. But if my dad said to me, wants to have an orgy, I would get him sectioned. Yeah. I think. Top London Hotel or not. It's not about the location, though. I've got my dad some lights for his crocs for when he's in the garden lay.
Starting point is 00:55:28 Well, what? You can get lights that go on. Yes, you can get them sort of like crook charms, but they light up. So that's good. Especially like, my dad's in his 50, so he's not in kind of danger of falling yet. But it's quite clumsy. And I do think in a few years. Hard to buy dad's presents.
Starting point is 00:55:39 Not of your name, obviously. Yeah. An orgy. Yeah. It's not for me. I mean, I don't think NAM was a great dad as well. There was a video of him and his girlfriend, wife, singing happy birthday to their child, I think first birthday,
Starting point is 00:55:52 and he's while singing, playing online poker on his phone. And you're like, mate, have a day off. That example of too much money, and I do think actually a lot of these players are already that way inclined, maybe like great talent early on. There's something to that. Like, do you become famous because, and then it changes you, or are you always that way?
Starting point is 00:56:11 That's the grandparent show. I'll give him one. thing which is like he has not been swayed by the sort of 2020s tabloids aren't as powerful anymore. He's still just doing the naughty's thing. Yeah, in a way, quite sheep, purest. Thomas Tuchel keeps getting spotted chatting up girls in Notting Hill, but he's a single guy. Nicely. Cends to Roof Gardens, that's his spot.
Starting point is 00:56:33 We keep getting DMs from people being like, yeah, he chatted me up the other day. I don't want to get us in there. But we can't be chatted. You can chat Thomas Tuchel. I'll set him up with someone. I'm up with a friend. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:44 But I mean, that's all above board. He just herbs it. He's doing a good job for us. Did you, a random bit of the sort of wag culture thing that I always forget is Rebecca Vardy went out with Peter Andre and sold a kiss and tell. But this is before she was famous. The same thing he had a Chip-a-Lata. Yes, I remember this because it came up again recently.
Starting point is 00:57:01 I can't remember why. In the Wagg of the case. That was it. Yeah, that is nuts. They read it out in court. Poor Peter Andre, this is like 12 years later. They brought it up again in the court case. Holy shit.
Starting point is 00:57:12 I bet the headlines were, I can't think of a good one. Mysterious girth. Oh, that's excellent. Oh, that's really good. What are his other songs? Well, that's a question. Less than the meter, Andreina. That's very good.
Starting point is 00:57:23 Are you following the Katie Price and the Andrews stuff? A bit, I am a bit, but it's all a bit too much. I'm sort of, I'm on this, I'm kind of not following it. I'm following other people that are following it. So Joanne McNally is very closely sort of commenting on it. He's come back to her. Did you see? Yeah, apparently he's done a disc track about him, very good.
Starting point is 00:57:37 Does she just calling it a disc track? If we did him, will he do a disc track about us? It would be great to get eyes on the air. Oh my gosh. We can't come to the UK, I mean? Oh, good point. He said he got kidnapped, but he'd actually just taken her money
Starting point is 00:57:48 and gone and got her pants on. Yeah, he's got new hair. But is it that quick? I thought it like takes ages and falls out. Yeah, you're right, because you have to shave it, implant it and then it will. And then it grows. And that's not touching.
Starting point is 00:57:57 Is she in on it? That's my only question. Well, she's got a new documentary out and I will be watching it. It's really good. She's a wag. She's, she had a part of course. She had a part of her.
Starting point is 00:58:06 I know. And I've always, because she is, So it will. She's a great mom. Yeah. And actually, iconic wag moment, someone told me
Starting point is 00:58:12 from naughty's time as she went to the, I think it was Chelsea, Christmas party and was there and all the other like actual wives and girlfriends were there
Starting point is 00:58:22 and she was just like single. They're all a bit sniffy about Kay Price. You know what it's like. She then went to the loo and cut a heart-shaped hole over her bum
Starting point is 00:58:30 in her jeans and went back out and apparently lasted 10 minutes for the wags like got her out. I would be afraid to do that. I actually listened to the rest of entertainment talking about the new catered price documentary and they were like one thing you have to say about her is she is just like a fascinating case of like
Starting point is 00:58:44 she's kind of aware of what she's doing but like I do feel very sorry for later on is a difficult one of the Leandro's thing because you're like is she on it or is she just she's had such an astronomically wild life like all of the things that have happened to her Marina hides has something really amazing actually she was like she's kind of like a manifestation of
Starting point is 00:59:00 she's absolutely tiny she's had all of this surgery done she's kind of like what a woman is supposed to be and she's coming out of the ashes every time She's had like near-death experience and been like awful assaults and things like that. And she just keeps going. She's like weirdly like an emblem of like modern womanhood. Yeah. She's fascinating.
Starting point is 00:59:18 Do you think it'll be like in 60 years, a bit like Marilyn Monroe kind of came to embody like the good and the bad of the era? Is Katie Price going to be our one? I think we'll hopefully live a very long life. I think she'll be more of, I'm trying to think who, like, no, that's here, Drew Barronmore type, someone who goes through the fire, but it's a much more. Because she's, it's what's weird is. in this documentary, but she's like, she's still, it's not like we're all,
Starting point is 00:59:40 it's not like an awful name we're in a house situation where everyone's kind of projecting and saying all things about her. She's also like doing documentaries, she's writing books about it. I think her whole family appear in the documentary, so it's very much like supported. So she's experiencing things, but she's also kind of chaperoning it happening.
Starting point is 00:59:55 So yeah, I hope that she does somehow, not a redemption arc in the eyes of the public, but for herself, she finds that solace that she was looking for in Leandro's, who was the wrong place to go. Apparently she says that she's been in the newspaper, every day for since the late 90s. There hasn't been a day where she isn't. I could believe it.
Starting point is 01:00:12 Yeah, I believe it. Because if there's not a story, I think she makes one. Yeah, hencely, in my opinion. Yeah, I hope so. Well, they were saying that everyone at Page 3, they did a poll about whether or not she got boob jogs. They were like, if Jordan gets a boob job, like, no one's ever going to look again.
Starting point is 01:00:23 And then they were like, and then she managed to become even bigger. But they initially were like, no one wants to see fake tits. Oh yeah, she changed it. Yeah, she changed it. And then they just got bigger and bigger and bigger. And that was of that wag era. There was, I think it's all tied in. because everyone was talking about the boobs of the long.
Starting point is 01:00:39 Yeah. Yeah, well, I guess it was peak lads mags as well. The Nuts mag. We were talking about that the other day, the revival of Ladsmags. Why are they back? Nuts did a... Was it NUX? Is it FHM? They tried to bring it back. They were like men don't have a play. It's kind of true, like men don't have the same magazines and spaces of journalism that women do. So it is going to be sexy women, but it's also going to be like journalism.
Starting point is 01:00:57 We haven't heard much about the sense. I mean, we said in the era of massive porn addiction and quite extreme porn being available, you almost long for the days where it was just a busty lady in. Yeah. And everyone knew what you were, it was just, you were just looking at a pair of tests. Of that era where it was glamour modelling
Starting point is 01:01:10 was like, it wasn't like a shameful, it was like really aspirational. It was quite a saucy time. And Abby Clancy. You've seen that, it was like a salad cream promotion around that time and it had Denise Van Outen
Starting point is 01:01:23 having salad cream like poured on her breasts. Oh my gosh. And it was just a sillier, yeah, was that the Tesco ad? I think I saw the image in a school girl outfit. Yeah,
Starting point is 01:01:31 because obviously you look back a lot about 90s stuff and you're like, God, the press were evil. But there was also a lot lightheartedness. Well, everyone was playing up to it. It was a good fun time.
Starting point is 01:01:39 Yeah. Can't do anything these days. It's a fun, sexy, saucy time. And weirdly, it's like kind of more sexy now, but in a weird way. Yeah, it's like repressed sex. So it's like only fans and like extreme fetish. No eroticism. Yes.
Starting point is 01:01:50 But there is a lot of sad. There's no titillation. Everything was, the 90s was titillating. Now it's like. They're saying it in Brazil. They're having a big crisis because their footballers. When they were good, they were all party animals and chaggers. And now like their new young star is Endric and his, him and his girlfriend have three
Starting point is 01:02:06 rules. It's like you can't comment on girls' Instagrams. You have to say I love you at all times, which I don't know what that means. All just constantly. Yeah, all times. I love you. End of every sentence maybe. And then the third one is no virtual girlfriend in GTA, which I really think catches how
Starting point is 01:02:22 fucking, it's kind of sad. I don't know you could have a girlfriend of GTA. I was just going around. Yeah, maybe a baseball bat. But I think you can have a girlfriend in it. I was just driving around. Is that the car one? I was just driving around following all the speed law. I think there was a strip club, so I think I would have spent some time in there and bumping to Andrew. You were supporting local businesses. I was following the code.
Starting point is 01:02:39 And Noni's got her alarm on to... Do you know what that's for? To shoot a virtual lady. And also my parents and it was at a friend's house. I'd go around kill a few people. Yeah, no, I'm done. The missions are boring. But I think he kind of represents the like, kind of
Starting point is 01:02:53 sad evolution of it. And they're all quite religious now in Brazil, but they're like not Catholic. They're quite Protestant and evangelical. And I think that's a bit... There's a big identity crisis about it everywhere. It's fascinating. Football really is, you know, culture. People might be surprised who were doing this
Starting point is 01:03:08 I, a few weeks ago, a few months ago, called Diego Maradonna, dingo Maranara and quite a few people point of that out so I think people will go, I don't think
Starting point is 01:03:15 they're going to talk about anything lest they know. I did check with my I was like, do we sing it's coming home for the World Cup as well and he was like oh no one
Starting point is 01:03:22 and he was like well like it I get me euros only I was like is that just a one is that for the yeah it did start in the euros
Starting point is 01:03:29 no you mention it because I feel like we haven't been singing it's coming home my whole life people haven't been saying well 96 is when it started But it kind of went away for a bit
Starting point is 01:03:36 and then we had like Anton Deck did one. It was shit. There was like an era where people would make a song There's no song now. I know. Three lines is the last like big one is it? There's no news, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:03:46 Like Spice Girls did one for 98. I had it on CD. Oh my God. Top of the world. We don't have moments like that anymore do you? No. This is because there's too many moments. Everything is just short form content.
Starting point is 01:03:56 Like if you have, there's too many people making too many things. Everything is nothing. Oasis was quite like a unifying. I love that Oasis is. Oh, when they sang it. recently and someone put it on and everyone was singing was that this World Cup. And I love everyone singing hey dude to do Bellingham. Oh that's sweet.
Starting point is 01:04:11 And I do because was it Cabernoline before? Was that what we were singing? No, they did do. Oh, sweet Caroline. Sweet Caroline is kind of Sweet Caroline, I'm kind of sweet Caroline's a bit done now. I like that we've moved to Oasis and... I don't like the Don't take me home one. Do you know that one? How's that go? It's really fun. Don't take me home. Please don't take it home.
Starting point is 01:04:28 Is I'm trying to take it home? Just don't want to go to work. I want to stay here. Drink all your beer. Quite like that. Well, there's a sniff all your gear one that I keep hearing. Cheeky, cheeky. I like that. Well, the game was on it too. I haven't done.
Starting point is 01:04:40 So I don't know all the chance, but I have to, like, my partner went to like to watch one of the Crystal Palace games and there was another song for that. And I was like, and I was like, that you've sung me like five different. So I can't have. What is that amazing tweet where it's like Americans doing. Oh, I know. Go, go. Like, and the UK being like, right, we're going to knock together a tune to Claude de Bussey's
Starting point is 01:04:58 about the opposition's drink driving record. And you go, that is actually a reason to be patronage. Yeah. We'll always have our chance. We will, even if we don't get the cup. Which we will. No, I think we're going to win. The hamster spoken, the dog's spoken. Yeah. You've spoken. I've got a vibe about this year.
Starting point is 01:05:15 There was the asparagus throwing lady. Sorry, we're done. Thank you so much for listening this week. See you next week. Bye. Do you remember the asparagus-starring lady? She's of this year.
Starting point is 01:06:03 At the Euros, Jemima Packington, she's called, she throws asparagus in the way it falls, predicts. Is she the one that does all of the predictions
Starting point is 01:06:10 for the year? Yeah. Did she die? No, but I can't get a hold of her, so maybe. She was quite old, wasn't she,
Starting point is 01:06:16 she does that yearly? And she didn't she predict the Venezuela? Yeah, she predicted, like, she predicted strife for the royal family.
Starting point is 01:06:23 I mean, safe back. Nice. She did say that Swing Pop was going to displace K-pop. Music of the 40s
Starting point is 01:06:29 was going to be back. No. I can see it. She got like five others right and I don't know what she's saying about the World Cup. She said it was coming home in the Euros, which discredited her quite a lot. Did she say, did she specify which home it was coming to? No, cleverly. That's how she does it.
Starting point is 01:06:45 I think she predicted Arsenal winning as well. But I've literally been trying to get hold of this woman for ages. I've got questions. Yeah, I just want a personal asparagus reading. Ononi loves on my taro. Yes, I get a lot of tarot. They go, you're meant to see this real today because you are going to become really famous. And I sit and watch it and I'm like, oh my God.
Starting point is 01:06:59 And then the 50,000 people have liked it. And I think that was meant for me then. What do they predict which reel you're going to see? They go, it's really funny because they won't post it on the day, but it'll be like, if you're watching this on Monday, 6th of July, and then I'm hooked already. And they're like, one, Tommy was having a daughter, now, not pregnant. She's due.
Starting point is 01:07:13 You've got a daughter. I've got a dog. That's what you know. And they tell me loads of things. They're always great. It's like, I'm going to get this email. I've been getting, this email has been coming, like, five. I keep getting, I'm going to get an email that's going to just change my life.
Starting point is 01:07:24 Do you want to be famous? But then they're also like you're going to travel but it could be like traveling not that you could be traveling like mentally to like a new She's really hedging her bets Do they ever give just like boring news? No it's always really good And I'm growing toenail every time
Starting point is 01:07:37 Yeah precisely Get some cream now The ones I see I don't know that obviously target it Because it's magical So mine are just positive I'll get her number after Yeah no this is like if I've changed my algorithm My whole algorithm is just women reading tarot
Starting point is 01:07:50 Oh you can just do it on And you just say it in your phone If your phone's in here Terro tarot tarot tarot And then that's it Asparagus, they're literally every day. One time I was going to be a billionaire. I had to stop watching it because I don't believe in billionaires.
Starting point is 01:08:00 I think that unapical. So I was like, oh, can't have got to swipe past. If it's a multi-millionaire. You could give it away. No, I did say we could split it by three. What's $3 million? Well, then that's not enough, is it? Because what can you do with?
Starting point is 01:08:10 Yeah, that's not really. I'd need to start with, because taxes, you've got to think about that. That's true. Poor post at the end of that. Yeah, that's true. Oh, dear.
