Here we go.
Back with another edition of the Fantasy Points matchup live stream, the Week 11 edition.
We are recording this on Wednesday night, September, I wish.
November 17th, although maybe I don't wish.
I like being closer to summer.
I'm John Hanson.
That guy laughing is Great CoSell.
I'm here to amuse people, I guess.
I've done that a lot, Greg.
I'm like, the other day I'm on the radio, it's just like,
sometimes you do think so routine, you stop thinking about it.
It was like a Thursday morning.
I'm like, oh, good morning.
It's a Wednesday morning.
I'm like, no, it's not.
But how are you tonight?
Do I amuse you, John?
you do you do i wouldn't go as far to say that you're a clown but you do now you know what that's from
of course right course yeah yeah yeah you know it's funny i was just watching about you know i walk by tv
and the godfather part three was on and i had to watch that for 30 minutes so i i know there's certain
movies that if you're just because you know i get home later in the evening so i i don't actually
watch anything you know i just run through the tv dials before i go to bed and there's you know
there's that core group of movies that if one of those is on
you just got to keep watching.
And it's it.
That's the way it goes.
Yeah.
Hoosiers is one of those, of course.
I would say Hoosiers, the Godfather, one and two for sure.
Shawshank.
Shaw shank.
It's into that category.
Shawshank.
Yeah.
Anyways, let's get into your film study here.
This podcast is, we put it out there, obviously, on our feed.
It's not a subscription service.
This is just a little bit of the taste of the insight we get from Greg Kosell in his film study.
Every Thursday, Greg, Adam, and I do a live stream for subscribers at Fantasy Points.
and we go over all the matchups and, you know,
hopefully impart some pretty good wisdom.
I think last week we had some good points.
Got a couple of things wrong.
I hope so.
I hope we have some good points.
Well, I mean, we spent four minutes on Jamar Jefferson
and he scored a touchdown on his, like, second NFL touch.
Yeah, yeah.
Well, you know, I think I got some good points this week.
I actually got a good amount of film done.
And, you know, if I start, like, speaking in tongue,
you'll understand, you know, why that's the case.
But I think there was some really good tactical stuff.
this week. Well, let's start with Kansas City, Greg, and what they did and maybe what the Raiders did not do.
Looking at your notes, obviously right out of the gate, it looked like, okay, this is going to be a good game for Mahomes.
I guess my main question is, were there things that other teams have been doing against them, the two high
safeties, I guess, that the Raiders didn't do? Like, was there, was there anything when you, in retrospect, you're like, oh,
they should have played them this way and they didn't and Mahomes went off or did they just play well
and maybe they fought their way through their struggles.
Well, it's funny.
I said on the matchup show last week that I thought there were bits and pieces of Mahomes
in the previous game that were starting to be a little more positive.
So I had noticed that.
And then this week it was clear pretty quickly that Mahomes was much better playing
within the structure and the order and the purpose of the progression.
The ball was coming out of his hands.
I think this was more a function of Mahomes and the offense.
Obviously, there's a defense on the field,
but I think that this was more a function of Mahomes
and probably how he was spoken to and coached during the week.
He cut out almost all the unnecessary movement, John,
both inside and outside the pocket that had so defined his game
far too much over the last month.
I just thought that he was efficient.
He took the throws that the offense gave him.
He didn't wait to see if something was there.
He took the throws that were there right away.
So it wasn't necessarily a tactical thing from either side
that it was just he played within,
he just played less chaos, right?
He played calmer, right?
Less head movement and more decisive?
Yeah, he was decisive.
You know, the key thing is Mahomes,
and because he's been so special in his career is he's the kind of quarterback that very often
waits for the downfield throws to develop.
You know, there's always quarterbacks like that.
They usually have big arms.
And Mahomes, as a big arm.
And if they don't develop, then the play becomes somewhat random.
And he's been very good at those kinds of second reaction random plays.
But it's hard to live like that for a long period.
of time. When I say a long period of time, I mean through the course of a career.
Okay. So now you have to get back to, hey, if the defense gives you this throw in structure,
throw it. You know, I think back, that's one of the reasons, believe it or not, that Tom Brady
replaced Drew Bledsoe. And because that had been written about that Drew, because there's been
so many books written about Brady and the Patriots.
Oh, for the big play.
Bletsoe is the kind of quarterback that would always wait for the downfield play. And then you
lose the shorter throws. Whereas Brady came in and it was, he would just hit, hit the throw that
and presented itself right away. Yeah. And so, you know, first and 10 became second and four.
And there's not a coach in the league who wouldn't take that. And Mahomes did more of that.
He took the throws that immediately presented themselves versus the defense. And we probably
should have seen this coming because Andy Reid has been here before with a struggling offense,
a struggling quarterback. He normally figures it out.
That's a pretty amazing turnaround in one week, though.
Well, and again, I'm sorry to interrupt.
You know, sometimes I just get so excited, so I don't mean interrupt.
But we don't know if that will continue.
All I know is it happened this week.
Yeah.
Well, what about this week against Dallas?
They are man-to-man heavy.
I would guess they'll stick with that.
And that probably works well with this offense.
Define things for Mahomes?
You know, I've been thinking.
about that and I've been talking with Matt Bowen about that and I'm not sure they'll be quite
as man to man heavy.
Okay.
I thought this week, and I could be wrong, but I thought that this week Tyreek Hill looked like
Tyree Kill and I don't think they have a matchup for Tyreek Hill.
Gotcha.
So I'm not saying they're not going to play any man.
Well, Dan Quinn's his own guy at his core, isn't he?
Well, they've played a lot, they played a lot of cover four this week and it would not surprise
me to see them play a lot more split safety than man.
to man. There you go. Just my, you know, just my sense. I mean, then, then, then in theory,
they could absolutely give the chief's problems, just talent alone. And they, they seem to be well
coached in Dallas this year. Yeah, my, my, my spidey sense is tingling, John. I think you might see a
little more zone. Okay. All right. Well, by the way, Micah Parsons is really a good player.
Yeah, is it, is it, is it, is it everything? The way he moves. He's so.
explosive. They didn't line him up that much in this game against Atlanta as an edge
rusher. They did probably maybe only six or seven snaps. But boy, does that guy flash with
his play speed? And he's a big man. He looks big on tape. Yeah, I just, I wonder like if you're
Andy Reid and Casey, like how would you approach this cowboy day? Let's say you're prepared for them
to zone it up a little bit more. Dallas has been actually pretty good against the run. You know,
they've been good on defense everywhere. I mean, even for fantasy, Greg, which has
hasn't been the case in literally a quarter of century. Any thoughts on how best they play
against this cowboy day? Well, I think, you know, Andy Reid has his core principles, core concepts.
I think they'll run their stuff and they'll expect Mahomes to be as efficient and decisive as he
was. I mean, the cowboy defense is very good. There's no question. But I think they'll play more
his own and I think that'll give Mahomes opportunities to get the ball out and play the way he did this week,
he does, I guess we'll find out on Sunday.
Maybe like a, you know, when I think of Mahomes against zone, I think of that Eagles game
when they're, I guess, playing a lot of zone.
This is just like pitch and catch to Tyreek.
What about, I know you saw the cowboy offense, correct?
No, I did not.
Oh, okay.
I did not.
Oh, you saw their defense.
I knew you saw something there.
But you've seen enough.
Well, DAC was obviously very good.
It was a clean game.
It sure seemed that way on watching it live.
But this Chief D is a must.
much better? Any thoughts on this cowboy offense matching up against KC? The thing about Dallas,
though, they're just so, boy, fully dimensional, if you will. They just, they can do it all.
They can beat you in a number of ways. Well, one of the things that it stood out about the Chiefs
D over the last three weeks, maybe a month, John, is they've kind of evolved from playing a lot
of cover one to playing even more cover two. Now, cover two was a staple of what they've done because
the chiefs had been a cover one, cover two, and zero blitz team.
But now that those percentages have shifted a little.
Over the last month, they played a lot more cover two.
So we'll see if that continues.
And they get to it in very interesting ways.
So it's not just a case where they sit back with two deep safeties.
So for people who are saying right now hearing me say this and say,
oh, well, if they play cover two, the cowboys will run the ball.
They don't necessarily show cover two pre-snap.
So it's not as if they're going to have two deep safeties sitting there before the snap of the ball.
So people would just say, oh, the Cowboys will just run it.
You know, they get to cover two and very intriguing weights.
Yeah, gotcha.
How about C.D. Lamb now looks like he might be back in that slot, like 70 plus percent.
Yeah.
Gallup back.
And that seems like a good matchup against Casey.
Yeah.
Yeah, I think it will be.
I mean, C.D. Lamb, to me, and I know I mentioned this even before,
when we started the season, to me, he's their best receiver.
So, yeah, I would expect, I would expect the, the Cowboys to be able to throw the ball, yes.
The Eagles here, as we move on here, the Week 11 matchup podcast here at FantasyPoint.com.
And, well, yet again, Jalen Hertz, another positive showing, but yet different, right?
Greg, what did you see out of Jalen Hertz?
and it sure seems like your opinion of J.L.
Hertz incrementally improves with every week.
Well, it's funny you say that because what had we talked about the last two weeks prior to this game against Denver?
The last two weeks, what did they do with Hertz?
They put them under center.
Yeah.
They ran the ball and they had the play action pass game under center.
Which you called for in September and then they finally listened.
And that was a major part of Devante Smith going five for 160.
against the chargers. All those play action passes. So this week, what do they do? They put him in the
gun. He only had two snaps under center, John, until the final garbage time possession.
So they made this a Hertz game. They put him in the gun. They worked the run game off of him
with both zone read and design run elements. They threw just enough on first down to be proactive
and aggressive. So my question is, and I don't know the answer to this, is will this be the template going
forward or was this specific to Denver?
Because I got to tell you, I watched this game, and you know what I thought of when I was
sort of halfway through the game?
I said, God, this looks like the Ravens offense.
They're playing Hertz the way the Ravens play Lamar.
Now, Hertz isn't as an explosive and athlete, but he is a pretty good runner.
So I don't know the answer to that.
I wish I did.
But overall, he's throwing the ball well and doesn't, I mean, it's not throwing it a lot.
So I guess fewer opportunities to leave plays on the field.
but it doesn't seem like he's making mistakes and hurting the team lately.
No, look, I made a note, my final note when I finished watching that game,
that he continues to be one of the most blitzed quarterbacks in the NFL.
He's been blitzed on over 100 dropbacks.
Think about that.
Man.
And he's not turned it over, only one interception, and he's only been sacked five times.
So there's been very few negative plays when he gets blitz.
So even though anybody who watches hurts,
would say that he needs to continue to improve as a pastor, John.
The reality is he does not turn the ball over.
So you can live with his continuing development and his ups and downs as long as he's not
turning the ball over.
Yeah, he's got that poise as like holding it all together.
Yep.
So we'll see.
Like I said, I wish I knew the answer to what they're going to do this week against
New Orleans, who's a very good defense, by the way, with a lot of good players and a lot
of aggressive tactics.
but I just don't know.
I don't know.
Well, with Miles Sanders back, I mean, we're going to stay with this run-heavy approach no matter what.
I mean, I would think, right?
I mean, what are your thoughts on Miles Sanders?
And who do you team them with?
Because at this point, you're using like a tandem here.
Miles Sanders comes back.
They said he's still the starter.
I mean, does he team up with Boston Scott?
Or are they pairing with the bigger Jordan Howard?
I don't even know.
Well, Howard's been running exceptionally well.
I guess that's the answer.
I would think that Scott's the guy that would lose snaps.
Yeah.
That would be my opinion.
Yeah, sure.
He essentially seemingly, it felt like he replaced Sanders, you know.
Yeah, that's what I thought.
Yeah.
Right.
Okay.
Yeah.
Well, yeah, they'll keep running it with that stable of backs.
And this old line, right, is blocking downhill pretty well for the run, right?
Yeah.
And you have the hurts factor because now that they're using him, you know, like I said,
this week he was in the gun.
and you get all those zone read elements where the outside unblocked defender, you know, he's,
that's a struggle.
So, you know, you kind of lose the ability to squeeze from the outside in.
I mean, Howard had a 25-yard run where the outside guy, it might have been fuller on that given play.
You know, it just, he has to wait and see what hurts does.
So it's going to be very interesting what they do going forward.
I just don't know.
I wish I did.
but it's it's the offense is getting better as is their defense by the way yeah and and and evolving too yes yes
which is weird like it's like i don't even know what they are like they're like two and a half
different things this year but this is a pretty tough matchup here against new wellions right man they've
good against the run good depth of corner pretty good pass rush i mean pretty pretty you know this
would be on the harder, on the scale of difficult to easy. This would be a little bit more difficult.
I would agree with that. But you know, it's funny. Obviously, none of us can predict the future.
I know I know that your job is to try to do that. And we all do. I mean, I try to figure it out as
well. But to me, the progression of this team is kind of normal, given that they had a first-year
head coach, a second-year offensive coordinator, a first-year de-coordinator, a first-year
quarterback coach.
You know, I'm talking about it in the NFL, not college, you know.
So you would expect it to all take some time.
Now, again, I'm not going to sit here and say they're going to win out.
They do happen to have a pretty favorable schedule, whatever that means.
Oh, they do.
Yeah.
But, you know, they're playing.
The bottom line is the tape tells you they're playing better football, whether that leads to wins,
games play out in odd ways.
But the tape tells you they're playing
better football on both sides of the ball.
Yeah, I guess to me and maybe the fans, too,
it just didn't feel like they had a great plan of attack
and going into the season.
And they kind of just adjusted from there.
But maybe they're the type of coaching staff
that's going to adapt to the opponent.
But I would say that's normal for a new staff
because as much as you do in the offseason with OTAs
and training camp,
and preseason until you get into real games, you're not certain about your players. Yeah, that's true.
So you have to see how it kind of plays out, you know, before you know for sure. So look,
if a new coach comes in and you have a top five quarterback, that makes everything different. That's
not the case with the Eagles. They have a young quarterback who's learning as he goes, okay? And the book is
still out. I don't want to sit here and say, he's the man for sure. The book is still out, but you're seeing
progress. So I would argue that this is kind of a normal progression for the entire team with a brand
new and inexperienced coaching staff. And by the way, we're doing this with a rookie number one
wide receiver, a tight end who's been a little in and out of the lineup and quite frankly,
a very mediocre receiving core otherwise. You know, I know hurts Ms. Quess Watkins for a potential
touchdown. Let's move on to the Titan offense against that St. D. And Greg, correct me if I'm wrong,
it appears they did the old,
we're not putting our top corner on A.J. Brown trick.
We're going to double Brown.
Is that your takeaway from the tape?
They did not put a lot of more on A.J. Brown.
No, they did not.
Right.
So they probably doubled them then a little bit.
On occasion, but not to the point where, you know,
you went, oh, my God, you know.
The bottom line is the Titans are winning right now
since they lost Henry due to their defense.
Their offense has not been very good.
And I made a note that in the last,
two games without Henry, they've not been very good on third down at all, and that's a little
problematic. Now, they have not been able to run the ball these last two games. I actually think both
backs look good in terms of their movement, but they just have not been able to run it. And
Peterson, to me, he's a volume runner. Now, again, I don't know at his age, no one knows,
okay? You know, we're not there every day. Maybe the Titans know. But he's a volume-type.
runner and I don't think he's going to get volume with the Titans.
You know, he's not a back that can carry eight times.
That's not him.
Yeah.
And Ford has actually looked okay too, but I think he's actually a volume runner too.
Oh, yeah, exactly.
Yeah, maybe they're just trying to figure it out.
All right, who's going to take hold of this thing?
Who looks better?
Blah, blah, blah.
They maybe know that both guys ideally are the guy.
So I think at this point, I think we're looking, Deonté, because of the receiving work
in the fantasy world, he's younger.
Would you say Deontes looked as good as Peterson running it?
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
A little more person.
I think that, you know, he caught that screen.
I mean, they only had two big pass plays, one to Marcus Johnson, and then the screen to
form in in the fourth quarter.
So I think they probably view him as more equipped to do that than Peterson.
And Marcus Johnson, I know you've liked him in the past.
I have.
You know, they need a big receiver here.
maybe preferably a guy could run a little bit.
I mean, he's going to be a fixture here.
Let's write off Julio for now.
I would think Marcus Johnson, Greg, is going to be like the clear too.
Or should be.
That could well be the case.
Look, I've always waited for him to get a true chance,
and I never understood why he didn't.
You know, I'm not, the teams he's been with,
I'm not there every day, so I can't speak to anything,
although I've heard from my people in Nashville,
that he's a great guy and a hard work,
you know, all the good things.
Because he's a big man who can run, John.
Yeah, yeah, much like A.J. Brown and Julio Jones, you know.
Yeah, and every year, doesn't it seem like every year,
wherever he is, he makes five plays that are just wow plays?
There's a couple of guys like that in the league.
Like, you wonder why they don't climb up the depth charts a little bit,
a little bit more.
Moving on, Raven offense, you saw some,
interesting things out of the dolphin D.
You know, I was apologizing for being high in the Dolphins D for fantasy.
I had them ranked at number six.
And then it turned out, I looked, I'm like, oh, wait, never mind.
They're number five.
Nailed it.
But they were a little slow off the mark, but maybe they're rounding in the form here a little bit.
Corners, secondary, safer, healthier.
What did you see last week from Miami's D?
I don't know if I've ever seen a committed game playing a,
approach like the one the dolphins deployed versus the Ravens, John.
They literally on 40 snaps, give or take.
Blitzed?
Well, had seven and eight man pressure fronts and then played kind of zero match behind it.
So they just had seven or eight guys on the line of scrimmage, depending on what the
Ravens formation was.
Okay.
And then they played kind of off man zero match.
You know, they didn't press and they didn't necessarily play pure man, but there was no
deep safety in the middle of the field.
And then they would do
any number of things from that
seven and eight man pressure front look.
And the Ravens never had an answer
for it. I'm sure a lot
of that was keeping Lamar in front of them, right?
Could be. I mean,
you know, people are saying, well, that's the blueprint.
And it's not because the dolphins
are equipped to do this. They've done this
before. You may remember last year
when they beat the Rams with Jared Goss. They destroyed
the Rams. They did the same kind of
thing. They didn't do it as many snaps.
But that's part of what they do defensively.
Not every team is going to do that, and not every team would even feel comfortable doing that.
Did Lamar just have a bad day last week?
Was that just chalk it up to that?
Well, no, because that was a tactical game.
They didn't have an answer tactically.
So, yeah, so it all carried through Lamar.
Right, gotcha.
Yeah, I mean, I would say that, you know, late in the game, he had Bateman on a vertical route over the top of Jones,
which was the first big play where they really went over the top
against that particular defensive look,
and he hit Bateman for 30 yards.
But other than that, they did not really have an answer.
Yeah, I was thinking about a couple of missed opportunities to Hollywood early on,
but yeah, your point, I'm sure, is the point to make their.
Tuotunga Valoa comes in off the bench.
Any thoughts on how he looked?
A lot of 12 personnel, which I don't even know about Devante Parker.
Maybe two was best in that, you know, in 12 personnel for protection, if for nothing else.
Yeah, I mean, I thought he looked the same.
The numbers were good because Wilson had a 64-yarder, which was a total bust by the Raven.
So, you know, it helps for numbers for his fantasy.
But I don't know, you know, that doesn't mean anything to me.
He did hit Waddle for 35 yards on a really well-designed concept where they got Waddle running a deep sail route versus the safety.
but Tua was still a beat late with that throw and that ball lost energy on the back end.
So I think Tua is too.
I think they know what he is.
I think he can be efficient if they set him up to be.
But I think Tua is kind of what we know.
Can he be better at what he is?
Yes.
But I don't know if he'll ever be a great quarterback in the way we think of great
quarterbacks.
Sure, no doubt.
Any thoughts on how these Ravens match up with Justin Fields and the Bears?
Blitz a lot, I guess.
So number one, they got to pick up the blitz.
Fields has got to handle that blitz.
And I think you're going to see them blitz.
And then we'll see how it's not only Fields, it's the old line.
But I think they will do that.
And they'll see how it goes early.
Because the one thing the bears do have is some speed.
And if Fields can hit a couple of downfield throws, obviously, that changes your blitz strategy.
The Ravens defense has not quite been the Ravens defense.
As we've known it the last number of years this year.
It's not terrible.
but it hasn't quite been that sort of shut down dominant D.
No, they've been beat against tight ends.
They're vulnerable in the secondary there.
As Marlon Humphrey can't carry cover everyone.
They've been picking on Anthony Averett.
Anthony Averett, yes.
Saudi Jersey kid who's a sprinter who went to Alabama.
And yeah, he's been targeted quite a bit.
You know, you probably have those numbers, but he's been targeted a lot.
And my guess is the numbers are not pretty.
Yeah.
Woodbury, New Jersey.
Yep.
Yeah.
Where do you go?
So Woodbury High, I guess, right?
Yeah, he was a sprinter.
Yeah.
Moving on here.

It's almost, I think if you use that promo code, we may mail you money because the price of the subscription is so far down now with just, well, we actually still have almost half the season.
in terms of we go all the way through the playoffs.
So 21 hands to 10, if you're not a subscriber to FantasyPoint.com, Broncos, offense.
Boy, that was not great.
Watch our guy, Giovante Williams, look good again.
What did, what did you see out of Teddy Bridgewater other than his business decision
that he's already apologized for?
Yeah, and that stuff, you know, that's fine.
Yeah, I don't worry about that.
You know, I think they struggled with Eagles defense.
I think the Eagles defense started to do some more things in the secondary.
And I think their pass rush was a factor.
And I don't think they really ever got into any kind of rhythmic flow.
So, you know, I mean, I think we talked about that.
Obviously, they had a holding penalty on a Williams touchdown, which, you know,
would have might have changed the game.
But I think they have to be a running football team to start.
I know Teddy's numbers are good.
If you just look at the raw numbers, John, I mean, obviously he's not going to throw 35 touchdowns.
He never does that.
But, you know, his completion percentage is good.
The numbers look good.
But they either have to try to expand the past game to some degree because they're not getting a good group of receivers involved enough.
Or they have to say, you know what, we're not really a passing team in a strict sense.
And we're going to just have to run the ball more and better.
To me, it's going to have to be one or the other.
because when you have Sutton, Patrick, and Judy, somewhere along the line to me, you've got to get those guys involved.
Yeah, yeah.
Falcons against the cowboy offense, you saw that tape.
And obviously Atlanta playing tomorrow night against New England.
Yeah, I saw the Atlanta offense versus cowboy defense.
What happened?
Because it came out and it looked like it was a couple of plays to pits early, which I was expecting.
I'm like, all right, here we go.
And then they just got denied.
What happened?
Yeah, their O-line had a really tough time, particularly the left side.
Matthews did not play well.
The rookie left guard, Mayfield really had a difficult time.
The Cowboys' defensive front started dominating the Falcon's O line as the first half progressed,
and it just became a mismatch.
And they really couldn't function with their offense.
Wow, wow.
And that's been a, man, we've been talking about this for years,
despite them investing these high picks on these finessex.
guys, I guess. It's, it's so
underwhelming.
Man, man.
So I don't know how they're going to run an offense
against New England if they don't have Cordell
Patterson, Greg. I mean, I saw that.
I saw that he might not. What's his injury, John?
It's an ankle.
So, you know, there was some speculation
that he was a good bet to miss
one to two weeks and now
he's been doing some work and it's
you wonder if he's just holding out hope
for some competitive
advantage or because they don't have
anyone else. Like, you know
Belichick is devoting
resources. Kyle
Pitts is not beating them tomorrow night.
No, no. Kyle Pitts is not going to beat them.
In fact, again,
you know, we know Bill, Belichick, he's not going
to double him, let's say, on every snap.
But, yeah, Kyle pitch is not going to beat him tomorrow
night. There's no way, I mean,
from a fantasy perspective, there's no way
Pitts is having seven for 120 tomorrow night.
Yeah, no question. No question. And this old line problem
will come up, I guess.
from here on out too and every matchup.
Bill's offense, quick price check there.
What did you see out of the Buffalo Bills last?
Again, you know, it's so funny when you see different things,
and that's the joy of watching tape,
because, you know, for me,
it's kind of an intellectual academic experience when I watch this.
And then when I see something new,
and the Bills, their offense was totally different, okay?
Wow.
The Bills played 15 snaps of 21 personnel with the fullback, okay?
they only played 10 snaps.
They would also play 10 snaps of 12 personnel.
So almost 60% of their offensive snaps came out of some version of base personnel.
They put Josh Allen under center, okay?
They don't have done that.
He was unbelievable under center.
He was 11 for 14 for 192 yards.
Okay.
So we had 14 pass attempts under center prior to this game.
In the eight previous games, you'd only had 30.
two pass attempts under center.
So they changed their entire offense.
They're trying to run the ball more, more volume.
I'm sure they still want more production,
but it was evident with the personnel,
the formations, and the play calling
that the bills wanted to focus more on running the ball
and becoming a more physical offense.
We'll see if that continues.
You wonder their motivation,
is it also because they know their O lines not great
and pass pro and you know alan's been getting hit here so yeah protect your quarterback stay ahead of
the down i mean it's good news for everybody um you know we were talking about this we do a live
stream on tuesday which uh we make we put it out there just us kind of talking about the matchups
just kind of gathering up our thoughts and i was a little frustrated by dawson knox i thought maybe
he would do a little bit more he only got the one target and then grand barfield brings up a good
point. Well, it's hard for Josh Allen to throw to
anyone when Steph Diggs has opened the whole
game, right? I mean, yeah.
Did you notice that too?
Well, Steph Diggs was, I mean, they did
some good things with him.
And they played off some of their
staple things. So it was
pretty, it was a really
good plan. You know,
there was a lot of talk in Buffalo
because I'm familiar with all that, you know, from some
work I do up there with those guys that
they apparently had some heavy
meetings on Monday after they lost to Jackson.
And I think they made some changes.
Yeah.
So the question is, this game reflected a different philosophical approach to create explosive
plays in the past game.
Instead of putting Alan in the gun, spreading it out and saying, you toss it all over
the yard, they put Allen under center and base personnel and ran play action.
And it was effective.
So the question is, did they just do that to get back on track?
Or is this going to be a more significant part of their approach?
By the way, you had mentioned Breda in the summer.
about, you know, he might be intriguing.
I don't know if this is the case, actually,
but, you know, go spread them out with four receivers,
then shoot Matt Breeder through a little.
Well, that's not what they did this week, but he still.
Matt Breedah had, I think, eight offensive snaps with six touches.
Yeah, that was weird.
Man, so many weapons for these bills.
It's ridiculous.
Yeah.
Gabe Davis, Isaiah McKenzie.
I mean, three.
They do a lot of cool stuff with McKenzie, by the way.
Oh, I'm sure they do.
Helping no one in fantasy, though, other than Josh Allen owners,
because they just got way too many guys here.
Gabe Davis, good player, not really a factor in fantasy,
although he might be coming on.
Cold offense, I wanted to get into that.
We check in with Carson Wentz every week.
It's been pretty good.
Dude gets blitzed a lot.
Sometimes he handles it, I guess.
Sometimes he doesn't.
But what the tape show in the Colts offense?
We know Jonathan Taylor's a perfection, basically.
What about the passing game and Wentz?
Yeah, this was not a big time once game and passing game.
But he did make, you know, again, he made a throw that if other quarterbacks had made it late in the game,
I'm sure you saw the big time second reaction throw to Pittman on third and seven with less than three minutes remaining that basically sealed the victory for them.
But this was not really a passing game.
You know, Pittman, excuse me, Taylor started out with a 34-yard run on the open.
but I got to tell you,
and I don't know what this means for this week
because they're going to have to run the ball.
But as that game progressed,
the Jaguar's defensive front
kind of dominated the Colts offensive line.
And that's what the tape said.
So the Colts know that.
I'm sure they're going to work on it this week
because they're going to have to run the ball
against Buffalo.
Oh, God, yeah.
It felt like they just kind of took their foot up to guess.
They were just like, all right, whatever.
You know, like, I don't know.
Maybe I know their professionals
and all that, but it seemed like they just, you know, didn't play with the same level of energy after
that hot start.
That's, you know, that's always tough to know.
But, I mean, they're going to have to run it.
We know that.
Oh, absolutely.
Well, that would be a really challenging matchup for sure.
I think we're good here.
