It's time to the Fantasy Points podcast brought to you by FantasyPoint.com.
Top-level fantasy football and NFL betting analysis from every perspective and angle,
from numbers to the film room, with a single goal to help you score more fantasy points.
Here we go.
Welcome to another edition of Hanson's Hints here at FantasyPoint.com and the Fantasypoints.com podcast feed.
and we are really cranking out the podcast right now here, the end of June.
So make sure you subscribe and get the access to the feed and throw us a bone and rate it.
And give us a good comment here.
Throw us a bone in that regard.
We're doing the franchise focus series right now where every day we're popping out one team.
We're going opposite of alphabetical, I guess non-alphabetical,
starting with the Washington football team.
I think we're up to San Fran, and we have an accompanying podcast, short one, albeit with a beatwriter for all 32 teams.
So basically just take the summer off, listen to the podcast, and of course, subscribe to FantasyPoint.com.
We also have college football, a package live.
We're looking to dominate this end of things in fantasy.
Our guy, Wes Uber, leading the charge there, and of course our PGA content all over at FantasyPoint.
And as I welcome in, Mr. Adam Kaplan, probably don't even know this.
We did unveil today a little bit of a site redesign.
If you go to the website, it looks normal.
But on the upper left hand side, you see NFL, college football, and PGA.
So every sport has its own little homepage.
So if you just want NFL, you click the NFL, and then it's like the old days, Mr. C.
How are you, though?
Well, yeah, this is a, I did notice when I logged in earlier this week, because I know you're doing golf, you guys have so much going on here.
It's pretty cool.
Yeah, NFL CFB College football PGA.
Yeah, that's awesome, man.
I hope people are enjoying all the new content and taking advantage of everything you guys have and the videos and the podcasts.
And yeah, it's pretty amazing.
How did you find the golf people, like the golf, the golf experts?
Well, you know, a lot of, it's a pretty close-knit industry. And, you know, there's always a series of young up-and-comers. And that's basically what we've, you know, kind of aligned ourselves with. We've got our little media group there, a podcast network. And, you know, a lot of people involved in that, you know, put the word out. And, you know, people applied. We put it out there. And we pick the best candidates. But yeah, that's only part one of the site redesign. I don't want to bore a hell out.
of people, but I do really like the simplicity yet the sophistication of the site. And then
phase two, Adam, is going to be a lot sexier. There's going to be a pretty significant change,
but again, not trying to be a hero. One of the reasons I wanted to start up another site is I've
learned so many lessons over the years. And one of them is you got to keep it simple with the website.
So we do, we have a ton of stuff, but, you know, I feel like it's easy to find. And when in
doubt we have an unbelievable search feature there. So anyways, Mr. C, we are here back to do
another edition of Hansen Tints here. We already recorded a podcast with you covering the AFC teams.
And then now we're going to do, of course, the NFC. And then basically I wanted to, you know,
tee it up a little bit. You're kind of everybody who's been following the offseason, there's been a
good amount of nuggets and updates and things like that, things to sink your teeth into. But
You go a little deeper after the NFL draft is in the books.
It takes you a little while to make all your calls to reach out to other contacts, right?
Yeah, because they're still more or less four weeks left,
and coaches and executives are on vacation.
The other guys who are in buildings now are doctors.
Only if the player, if the team's going to sign someone,
they have to have someone medically who could pass the guy in a physical.
And the salary cap department, they're always, you know,
they're always working, whether they take a week off or two weeks off or four weeks off,
every now and then they're going to go into the office. But pretty much it's empty. So what I'm
trying to do is track people down. And in fact, I was just talking to coach this morning
about his team and how he sees it and so forth. So it's always good to catch up with people
this time of year. And what about your training camp tour? Because this thing is gold, Jerry Gold.
Yeah, I love it. So as you probably know, I like to go to these camps when two teams are working with
each other these so-called joint practices. So I'm probably, I'll want to only having to go to like
14 camps, but probably seeing 10 and 12 teams practicing together so I don't have to waste time
and money going to just see one team. I'd like to see two. So like I'll see Philly probably when
they go to Cleveland. I'll see Philly when they're at home. My sense is that Panthers when they play
the, when they play the Patriots into England for a preseason game, I'll probably go up there.
It's not been announced, but my sense is that Panthers will want to probably practicing with Patriots.
Because boy, Belichick loves those joint practices.
Nobody loves him more than he does.
He loves to get the Intel.
You know, I'll be at the Rams, Chargers, for sure.
There are 10 minutes from each other.
It's pretty cool.
Yeah, that's awesome.
I'm sitting at thinking, like, maybe in a couple of years when I semi-retire, I'll do my own.
You've got to go.
You got to go on me.
Camp tour.
Because you finally did the senior ball?
Oh, speaking of that, did you like your senior ball?
I feel like an complete idiot for not going soon.
So you're going next year.
I'm telling you, all the dudes that I isolated,
I did a show the day after on CER 6M being in the practice for two weeks,
two days.
I'm telling you all the dudes that I really hyped up or went higher in the draft
or getting hype now, like my guy Rashad White, our guy Calvin Austin.
Sky Moore.
A little Rome.
Sky Moore wasn't there.
We love Skymore.
Oh, Combine.
Combine, yeah.
Combine, yeah.
So adding up Combine plus Senior Bowl for me, we do our normal interviews.
I've interviewed 20 top rookies, 25.
I have never been more prepared.
So I can't even imagine doing a training camp tour where somehow I could strategically see two teams like a day.
Oh, forget about it.
Well, what I do, I only will go where I have questions.
Like, although.
Because I'm going to be in L.A.
Because I'm going to see the Cowboys in Oxnard.
I wanted to see them with the Rams because I want to see Stafford.
There are certain things I want to see with the McVeigh offense.
Honestly, this is the God's honest truth.
As soon as I saw Stafford.
Yep.
And I saw it because I wanted to see him throw and see him and Cup worked together.
The cup made play after play in that practice.
I said I'm in for 40 touchdowns.
I didn't even look at their schedule.
I just said 40 touchdowns.
That's exactly what he hit.
which is luck. But anyway, I just felt so good about it. I mean, you got to make a call when you see it.
Yeah, I did. Well, okay. I had to, as you just said, I saw it. There's certain things I wanted to see.
You don't want to overrate practice, but you want to get a feel for it. And also talking to people working there and how his timing was great. And he's a fearless thrower, unlike golf, he's more measured.
Remember what I said? The reason why I was more bullish on Stafford than anyone last summer is because they would be able to use their own entire playbook.
where you're very limited to what you could use of gop.
I said, people are missing this, folks.
Yeah, we were with you.
We were absolutely with you.
And not only that.
effort because of got.
You like know everyone too.
So you go and you're in Oxnard, whatever.
You're seeing the beep people.
Hell, you know, Sean McVeigh.
But that's neither here nor there.
We look forward to that because we get all kinds of great nuggets.
And we'll probably do a podcast or two or three.
I'll do it from the road.
Yeah, yeah.
But again, we can't we can't give out all the goals.
just here on the podcast.
That's the thing.
So subscribe to fantasy points.com.
Trust me, I mean, the satisfaction rate's got to be like 99% thus far, Mr. C.
All right, without any further ado, let's go over.
I'm just going to say, real quick, you say satisfaction, customer satisfaction should be 99%.
How is it not 100%?
What do they want from you?
In fact, I think it's too much, but that could be.
That could be the problem.
It's a little overload.
maybe, but we're already streamlining things this year a little bit more too.
So it's going to be a nice site this year, real nice.
NFC East, Dallas Cowboys, and not a ton going on with the Michael Gallup situation.
That would be probably the biggest storyline to follow this summer.
Yeah, in terms of when he'll be ready.
It's questionable whether it would be ready for the start of the regular season.
We'll have to see how he progresses in August.
You know, right now if this season started, it's C.D. Lamb, and they'll figure out who'll start
opposite him until they know what Michael Galp's going to do. But here are the things that I know.
They really like Jalen Tolbert, who we sold the Senior Bowl from South Alabama.
He was one of my guys.
Yeah, they're going to take a nice look at him. Fahoko, who didn't really do much last season because he
was nursing, he was on the COVID list, and he just wasn't ready to go. But he's a big guy,
Big Target. I know Greg likes them.
You know, they do draft well.
Yeah, they do. Look, that's not for the problem. Yeah, you're right.
But it's the CD Lamb Show and everybody else.
Dalton Schultz back.
Dalton Schultz right now, to me, is their second pass target.
Yeah, I like it. I've warmed up to them big time.
Yeah, I know. You've been very bullish on them on our show in Series X-M lately.
My only issues with them are really offensive line-wise.
Tyron Smith well into his 30s now.
The kid Tyler Smith is a total project, their first-round pick out of Tulsa,
who is probably going to be Tyrant's future replacement whenever he retires.
They're going to cross-training him in a guard.
And he's got a lot of work to do.
Bia Dash is their center.
He's back.
Zach Martin's back.
Terran Steel could play right tackle.
He's got versatility.
They don't have any depth.
It's not, it's, there's some issues with their offensive line.
But here's a big thing for you for people follow contracts like I do.
The Cowboys could get out of Elliott's contract after the season without owning him a dime.
and Tony Pollard on the final year of his rookie deal.
So something's going to have to give this season.
If Elliot doesn't play well this season,
you could look for him and be asked to take a pay cut or he doesn't come back.
That's just the reality of the situation in the National Football League.
You've got to prove yourself.
And a Tony Pollard is super explosive.
The only thing with him is, can he be a feature back?
Can he be a number one back?
That's a little bit forward thinking, but he is a good player who you'll see line up outside.
And Elliot, the question for him is he's,
Is he on a free fall?
What do you see him now?
What do you see him now in year number seven?
I see him as still effective when healthy, but just more open, obviously, to injury than ever before, basically.
The hits are piling up and amounting to something.
Yeah.
How many running backs have you talked to in your days?
We talked to a lot of retired guys.
Yeah.
They all seem to bring that up, you know, late in the career.
the number of hits and how they add up.
Well, particularly with Elliott,
because he's had some tough injuries in recent years.
Yeah.
And you worry about that.
It's always hard to call.
Typically, you could see it with a running back when he starts to fade.
And I believe Elliot's on that.
It's so rare, other than ironically, what the cow is Emmett Smith,
when we all thought he was done,
those of us who really followed the team in the mid-90s.
And he had like this renaissance.
All of a sudden, like he picked it.
It's the only time I could remember it running back.
Quarterback, you could always do it.
But running back is so much harder to do that to when it looks like you're done or you're fading and you pick it back up.
It's so hard to do that.
And I don't know that L.A. can't.
Quickly, Dalton Schultz, like if you subscribe to the old, you know, contract year or high motivation,
I mean, he's on the franchise tag.
Like, this is a big year for him.
Oh, Monster.
Monster, because remember, they drafted Jake Ferguson.
We remember he was never drafted to be that guy.
He didn't really do much early in his career.
Then Blake Jarwin tears his ACL.
He fills in and just does a great job.
Outstanding route runner.
He's a tough guy who will play through contact, which is important.
He's just a good, solid football player, good hands.
He's certainly not explosive, but the guy gets open.
And right now, again, he will be their second pass target, depending on when Gallup's available.
Now, as we move on to the New York Giants, I know you've got a damn good source here.
You haven't even told me who it is, but you've got good.
You don't know who I speak to.
What's that?
You don't know who I speak to.
Oh, I know.
I know a couple.
But, you know, you've got some good stuff that you've had for a number of months, actually, on Barclay, Daniel Jones, Brian Dayball, the whole offense here for the Giants.
So, yeah, there's, if you're a giant fan, I could literally talk a half an hour about their offense.
I'm so intrigued by it.
I'm a huge Brian Dayball fan.
I didn't know much about him.
He'd bounced around and been fired.
It's called football.
I think what happens with a lot of these guys is they're survivors.
And if they could just hang in there, the true talent and ability to coach will come out.
And he did an incredible job with Buffalo.
I don't want to say he's the only reason.
Ken Dorsey deserves credit the quarterback's coach.
But he's the main reason why Josh Allen is who he is.
He coaches super hard.
He reminds me, you know John D. Filippo, the former quarterback.
The Eagles and Bears.
Sure.
He coaches very similarly to talk to people who know both coaches.
He only accepts excellence and he's hard on quarterbacks.
But the guy gets tremendous results.
He's coached with Brady.
He's coached with a lot of good quarterbacks.
He's coached at Alabama with Nick Seaman,
so you know the guy coach is hard.
And he brought in smartly, I don't know if he know Mike Kafka.
Mike Kafka is the brains behind the Chiefs offense, the passing game.
That's going to be a problem with,
I know any recalls of plays.
but that definitely not having Mike Kaffa with the Chiefs is something to keep an eye on if you're a
chiefs fan. And my Kafka, I still believe it was the case. I was told when he got hired he was going to
call the plays most likely. I still think that'll be the case. But Brian Dave will be heavily involved.
Don't think he won't be involved. He will be heavily involved. So the two guys will put their brains
together and figure it out. Now, one of the things that this new front office and coach of staff
noticed about Barclay when they inherited him, I hate to say Chip on his shoulder, but he came in
with like, okay, I feel great. I'm not rehabbing anything. Let's go. Yeah. And he had some juice when he came
into their OTA, their off-season program. Like they couldn't wait to work with him because I didn't
know the guy. They didn't work with him. And we'll see what that looks like. And, you know,
you know, Dave Ball's backs catch the football. Like they wanted, well, Dave Ball's backs should
catch the football. They wanted to with the bills, but they couldn't find that guy. They want Barclay
to be used in the past game. And that's why Matt Breed is there to give him a breather on third down.
but they are looking for a handcuff for Barclay.
I don't really have one right now.
Yeah, we were talking Devante Booker would make sense.
He's still on the street.
Yeah.
Moving on here, anything else on the Giants, Cadarius.
We'll see how things go in the preseason.
Yeah, the only worry with him is,
it's just being able to stay on the field.
With him, I don't know where he's going,
ADP-wise right now, but.
About 100.
Okay, that's, you know, eighth or ninth round and a 12-teamer.
That's absolutely where you should go.
He, we don't need to rehash the pain that I was in last year when I picked him up on four out of seven leagues.
You're trying to be gr horrific and, you know, it doesn't always work out.
You and I saw that.
What was that, was it against Dallas where he went off?
Yeah.
I couldn't believe, you know, it's one thing if you don't watch, you see past targets and accumulation of stats.
You go, okay, great, fine.
I'll keep an eye on him.
But when you actually watch the game and you go, oh, my God, this, look at this guy move, look at him.
Yep. Yep.
And on Verizon Fios folks, I'll give you a little pro tip.
They have an outstanding slow motion feature.
You just hit pause and then hit and hit fast forward and it becomes slow.
And I was slowing frame by frame seeing it get in and out of the paper.
Couldn't believe it.
Couldn't believe it.
Exactly.
And I was like, oh, my God, why aren't we talking about this guy?
And you and I were foaming at the mouth on our show on Sirius XM.
So then of course, every single injury, like everything just went wrong.
And then people question his attitude.
and maturity.
Okay, that's all fair.
But the guy is super gifted.
And I always point to the talent.
And then you just work through it.
And look, Brian Dambles not could put up with any BS.
That's for sure.
Yep, yep.
I interviewed Cadarius.
I told him I saw a lot of Tyreek in his game.
And he's like, yeah, stop and startability, things like that.
And I actually predicted a big game that week he went off.
I traded for him in our league.
And on TV called for 150 yards in a tutty.
And he got 180.
Wow.
Did you say 150?
I swear to God, I got the tweet.
Yeah, Google it.
It's on there.
Yeah, Google me, DirecTV, Kaderes, Tony.
You'll see it.
Yeah, I loved them.
And it was so wonderful.
And what a buzzkill after that, though.
Exactly.
And I remember spending not all my fab money in the NFFC leagues.
He was the guy that I was looking forward to using in the playoffs because they, you know,
they'd be thrown.
They'd be behind.
Although Joe Judge did his best of micromanage.
their offense. And of course, he fired Jason Garrett. But I just, the guys like Tony don't come
around a lot. Yeah. Guisted. Just, if he could just grow up a little bit and all. And you and I also,
another, another pro tip. He needs to play for injury. Oh, that's a big one. Yeah, that's everything.
Yeah, that's another issue that I had with him. But the guy's super gifted. And Keeper Dynasty
League, he's a guy that I won. And I'm not worried about eventually he'll figure it out. I mean,
this is year two. Now he's got to grow a little bit. But he, he's,
based on people work with him, he does care.
He just needs someone to mentor him.
Maybe it's Sterling Shepard is a high character guy.
Yeah.
I don't know who he's just got it.
He's got to be coached up.
Barkley.
Barkley.
Barkley.
Yeah, Barkley's a high character guy.
It just has to get it.
Yep.
And finally, Daniel Bellinger, who I interviewed at the combat, amazing dude.
Not surprised that he's running with the starters early on, early on.
But yeah.
that guy's a football guy, man.
He is just, he kind of reminds me of a young Dan Campbell, kind of.
Very pleasant guy, though.
Philadelphia Eagles, Adam, you're all over the Eagles, Mr. Inside the Birds,
your podcast and website there with Jeff Mosier.
So talk about what has developed here in the offseason since the draft in Philly.
It's funny.
Last year, and I don't know if it was this time near July or August,
you know, you were pretty bullish on Hertz.
and I was like, but you made a very fair point.
He said, don't worry about his, all he needs is a touchdown a game, and he'll be fine.
And he was.
Look, he didn't throw a lot of touchdowns, but he ran so much.
And he became their best run.
In fact, I think he led them, I don't know that he led him rush him, but they're weeks he
definitely did.
And I was just like, okay, this kid, if he could just figure it out and be more accurate,
because he misses so many throws, oh, so many throws that were there, and he just didn't hit it.
But the word that I got is that John, he started to get the timing down.
That's a real issue for him because he was more of a one reed quarterback.
But he started to get the timing down.
Now, I understand they only do seven on seven to the Eagles and OTAs.
But when they get to 11-11, he'll actually be rushed.
Can't touch them, but you could rush him.
And if he hangs in the pocket there, good things are going to happen with AJ Brown,
Devonze Smith, Quest Watkins, his explosive, Dallas Goddard,
Zach Pascall, your guy, Zach Rascal.
And even Rager, if he's on the team.
So there's a ton of talent here, NFL's best offensive line.
You know what?
I see why you have them.
Last time I looked at your rank is, do you still have a six?
Yeah, we're way, we're at five.
Yeah, five.
So that's my point.
It's all there for them.
There are no more excuses.
Yeah, you have them five.
There are no more excuses.
You only have them for 21 touchdown passes,
but you have them for, wow, 660 yards.
Touchdown. Wow. Well, you know, you look at the numbers. They're not just just a pretty basic numbers, but not that basic. They're they're not that bad. 61.3 completion rate, 7.3 yards in attempt, a 3.7 touchdown percentage. They're not awful. We all know what he's going to do with his legs. So you bring that up to even 63%. You up that touchdown percentage a little and you throw for seven, seven yards in attempt. That'll move the needle.
and that'll end up making them the top five guy.
Yeah, and, oh, I was right.
Hertz led them in Russian by like 30 yards.
Yeah, I saw that too.
It's Sanders got hurt,
but he also hurts him as two games.
It's all there for him.
Now, I like AJ Brown a lot,
just knowing the Titans as I do
and how much they thought about him,
how tough he has how much a leader he is
and he gets you.
By the way, he wins.
There's no real stat for this.
You can only go by tape study.
This is deep inside.
football. Let's say he ran 900 routes last season. Obviously he didn't. He probably ran 300 or something.
I don't know. But let's say he ran 300 routes. Okay. He probably won on 95% of them. Think about that.
That's like almost impossible. But the tape study showed he won almost all the time.
Leverage. Yeah, because he's strong as hell. That's the word I used. And that's why I got them wrong because
I didn't love them because I like speed.
I like separation.
Every once in a while a dude comes out.
He's a man among boys.
So you learn, you learn, you and I learned a lesson.
Now, the other problem that plays into why you didn't like it as much.
They don't throw, they didn't throw the ball on Tennessee.
Oh, that too.
Oh, to him.
And Julio Jones was an absolute disaster.
So I expect Brown to be their top pass target, Smith 1A, Goddard, third.
Now, there might be some weeks he's two, even one, as we saw back to,
Back weeks with the Jets and Washington.
He went off late last season.
So it's all there, man.
The NFL's best offensive line.
There's no excuses for Hertz.
He clearly will not be the quarterback.
Here's in 23, if you watch this.
If they are running the ball a lot, he won't be the quarterback in 23.
That's a lock.
And we'll be telling you to trade them.
Yes.
Before it happens midseason, if it does even happen at fantasy points.com,
you could be damn sure we'll be on that.
and then in the backfield,
Miles Sanders, still your primary guy.
How much can Kenny Gainwell's role grow,
and how much do they like him?
I'm coming into a quasi-breakout season.
It's hard to quantify that.
I've been higher on him way higher than the markets all year.
They love him, this coach of staff.
I heard last year, nothing has changed my mind.
The only thing is, like, first of all,
he became a goal line back early in the season.
Yeah.
I was talking to his college coach, Ryan Silverfield,
who also coached Gibson and some other guys in the NFL.
And he kind of surprised him.
He didn't see that.
You know, he's not small.
I mean, he's around 200 pounds,
but that's not exactly goal line back size.
Yeah.
We were expecting more explosive plays in the past game,
which I do believe will come here with Shane Steichen,
by the way, the OC calling the plays for the,
he's called the plays now.
He called it halfway for the season last year.
You also called for the Chargers for season and a half.
I like him.
Yeah, he does a good job.
He does a good job.
So I'm expecting game well.
He actually might have standalone value.
I know Boston Scott would be involved if Sanders got hurt.
But the strange thing is because Hertz was involved in the run game all season.
They only used the two-man backfield.
Boston Scott did not play until Sanders got hurt.
So you got to be careful with it.
If I only had to have one handcuff, because both would play if Sanders got hurt,
I would take game well.
Yeah.
No, I've been, like I said, the markets are creeping up on me here.
But I've got them at RB-42.
pretty much all year.
Let's move on to the football team.
And, you know, the story of the OTAs is a guy that I said before the damn draft was an absolute stud.
And then after the draft, I tweeted right after the draft that I wouldn't be surprised if in a year or two,
Jahan Dodson is a top 15 fantasy wide receiver and gets drafted over Tara McLaurin.
Yeah, it's really interesting.
They're kind of small.
Their top three receivers are all under six feet.
which is extremely rare in the NFL.
Samuel, who was not healthy at all last season,
he got hurt during their OTAs in May.
He didn't do anything in training camp.
He wound up having the groin surgery.
He should have had it well before that.
But anyway, he just had a throwaway year making $11.5 million a season.
He is their slot receiver who could play outside.
He's done it before.
His problem is when he plays outside, he doesn't win with leverage.
He's just, he's not a, there's some guys who are smaller like Tyrake Hill could win on the outside.
But Samuel, not he's, I wouldn't call him small.
he's got medium size, but he's much better playing inside and he'll be a gadget guy.
He'll probably run it a little bit.
Scott Turner coached him with Ron Rivera and Carolina so they know him.
And McLaurin got his extension, good for him.
And Johan Dotson's super explosive, high character kid, makes plays.
I'll tell you what, and Wents is a never-say die guy.
He will not check it down.
I tried to warn you guys last summer about Hines.
It's not going to happen for him and it didn't.
Wentz is going to be out there pulling the trigger to Johan Dotson.
He will, because here's why.
Why? To move this forward, I know they're paying McKissick to be their third down back.
Good luck. It's never happened.
I don't know that Wentz could be coached that. He's so stubborn. I don't know if he'll ever check it down.
So to me, it's Dotson downfield. It's McLaren and the intermediate. Samuel, also short area.
And Diami Brown coming off the bench, give him some size protection with Cam Sims.
This is a pretty good group, and we'll figure it out of tight end.
Cole Turner, you and I saw at the senior ball, is a sloth.
lot tight end from Nevada. He's a long guy, long and thin, six feet. He is an explosive route
runner. He just needs to get stronger physically. And John Bates, they like, because he can block,
who had to play out of Boise last year. And we'll see about Logan Thomas, how he comes back to him.
Yeah, Logan Thomas is still, as of like a week or two ago, was hoping to not go on PUP, but we'll
see about that. And of course, predictably, as I predicted in our franchise focus series,
essentially wrote that, hey, this Terry McLaren contract situation, owner just got into some more hot water.
Don't be surprised if all of us, oh, look, a new deal.
And it came down.
So that's good, though.
Great guy.
His agent buddy Baker did a good job for him.
In fact, what I liked is he got a three-year deal instead of four.
Like, A.J. Brown got more money per year.
But McClorin's out.
His structure is three years, whereas AJ Brown's is four-year.
So he'll be get another deal.
by the time he's 30.
McLaren to me is more of a 1A receiver, though.
Yeah, I agree.
It just not, and he could only play one side of the field.
You know, I told you that back in January or February,
that that's something to keep an eye on.
And that's probably why they drafted Dotson because Dotson could be moved.
Dotson can play all three spots.
Dotson, I'm telling you,
is going to be so much better of a draft pick than McLaren.
It's not even funny.
And I'm not even saying McLaurin's going to stink
this year. Of course, he's not. He's a
baller, but
comparatively speaking, I mean, Dotson right now
is 100 picks cheaper.
I'm telling you.
That's good to know, because the hype,
it's funny, people blame us for hype and players
and that moves the chains, so to speak.
And this is already baked in some hype.
It's up, the ADP, about 40
spots. I haven't really, I mentioned
him last week when we talked about it on our show
folks, if you've heard us on Series XM,
you probably heard me talk about it, based of what I'd
heard from the team on him. But
He is not blown up yet.
So that's good.
You have him 51.
That's pretty bullish.
Yeah.
I do believe, because you have Traylon Burks ahead of him.
Barely.
Rookies.
I would have, I would have Dotson right now over Berks.
No, I, look, I'm taking him over Berks all day long.
Burks is ADP is 40 spots higher.
Right.
So we can split some hairs there.
You can have a guy ranked a little bit below, but,
want him way more than the guy above because he's a little cheaper.
Anyways, and then we got to get to the backfield quickly.
We were wrong about Antonio Gibson last year.
I chalk it up to what I call a quote unquote honest mistake in that he's a former
college wide receiver, flashed in year one, only can assume that with more experience
he's going to feel it out a little bit better, recognition fronts, defensive fronts and
like we all know the Fitzpatrick injury crushed him but now we turned to this year john
and the injury fractures yeah in the injury he had a airline fracture of his shin i don't know how he
played through it apparently it was in an area where it would just get sore but he could he could run
but yeah i the one thing i missed on him is and i didn't notice as i told you when uh i talked you in february
i said hey they they think that uh you know watching the one issue that they had with
was more leaving plays on the field because he's not instinctive as a guy who was a receiver.
He's new to running back.
And I think that, you're right, that clearly hurt him.
And they got a guy in Robinson who's a tough grinding inside guy,
inside guy get the second level, he'll be more decisive.
And that'll be their one-two punch.
Now, how much Robinson, he'll definitely be the handcuff.
There's no question about that.
The issue is how much Robbins could cut into Gibson's role.
And I'll know that.
I pretty much have this team a lockdown for information.
It's the one thing I don't know.
It would be a 70-30 split in terms of touches.
It would be 64.
I can't answer that because they don't know that yet.
But we'll see how it looks in training camp.
Yeah, no.
We'll be on it.
But right now I'm skeptical.
Too many red flags for Gibson.
His ADP is still around 50.
No, I'm not going to do that.
We spent a little bit more time in the NFC East.
It's kind of in our wheelhouse.
We only have about 23 minutes left at him.
So we'll go to Chicago.
and well, not a ton going on.
I do like Vellis Jones.
I think Byron Pringle is underrated.
Everyone's ragging on the receiving court.
I think it's a little bit better than people think,
but it's certainly not great.
Anything on Chicago?
Not really.
They were looking at MVS for a free agency
and they weren't willing to pay him what he got,
so they signed the junior case, EQ St. Brown.
It's been nothing but a disappointment
because he's been hurt virtually his entire career.
But he has talent.
a new lease on life with Luke Getzzi who was with him in Green Bay.
Maybe that'll help him.
I like your Colin Pringle.
I know he passes a CoSell snuff test or smell test, excuse me.
That's always good.
Navellus Jones is older at 25, but he's gifted.
He had a good senior bowl week.
That's it.
Really, Herbert will be the backup to Montgomery.
There's really nothing.
Their offensive lines are work in progress.
They're trying to figure that out.
Yeah.
And overall, I mean, very early, but I got a decent vibe on Justin.
Fields just because of what we're hearing about the offense and more design runs and more
throws on the run.
You know, let's utilize those legs of Justin Fields.
Detroit Lions.
And I guess the big one is James and Williams probably.
I mean, they've been pretty forthright and up front about it.
Probably going to go on PUP, but that's only four games now.
Yeah, he has to start training him with PUP because if he doesn't, you can't put him on there
once he practices.
Right.
So, yeah, he'll start on active.
It's pretty much a lot.
Actually, it'll be active NFI because he had the surgery before he was drafted.
So he has to go on four.
But when we're going PUP to open the season, it's now four?
How many weeks?
Isn't it four weeks now?
No, no.
No, it's the, you're talking about injured reserve, I think.
The injure reserve now went from three games to four games.
You could come back after four weeks, four games.
I think PUP still.
the same. I think it's stood six weeks.
Let's see here.
Active NFI and active PUP.
In-season PUP or NIFI are six weeks.
Pretty certain of it. I don't think it's changed.
Right. Because I keep hearing Godwin now is a PUP,
but it's, let's see,
the deadline to decide for a player needs to stay on PUP
into the regular season is August 23rd.
Missing four games is quite a bit different than six.
It wouldn't be August 20.
Where is you reading this?
I'm reading this on a website on Yahoo.
Yeah, because that would not make any.
It has to, well, if that's the initial 53 deadline is August 23rd, I find it hard to believe
it's that early.
The reserve PUP or reserve NFIs have to go on.
They go from active to reserve on the day that the initial 53 is set.
Well, maybe it's practice.
Maybe they can practice after four weeks.
weeks if they open the season on PUP?
Yeah, well, I think it might be four weeks, but you could come off after six.
You have a two-week window.
If you start practicing, then, yeah, then I still think it's still after six weeks.
I think that's what it is.
Yeah, yeah.
We finally figured it out.
Yes, yeah.
So it's a little different, but it's still the six damn game.
So, and that's-six, yeah, that isn't true.
Yeah.
And that's certainly what we're looking at here with Jameson.
Yeah, barring again, anything for my, my, uh, lines people,
they don't have an exact timeline because of,
they have a ballpark when they think he could potentially be ready once he,
once it gets closer.
The rehab, from what I understand, is going well.
But I would just think this way, week one, week one when they play Philly,
Chark, St. Brown, are your two starting receivers.
Reynolds probably be the third or whatever.
When they go three wide, Reynolds outside, St. Brown inside.
Shark, obviously outside.
He's more of an ex-receiver anyway.
And then you've got Hawkinson, who's terrific,
just needs to stay on the field.
They got a good offensive line.
Now, the hope is because they've moved on from Matthew Lynn,
and they're pretty bullish from Ben Johnson.
He's a little bit more innovative.
And they open it up a little bit.
I'm not saying with golf, you have to be careful.
You can't ask them to throw the ball 35 times a game.
It's not going to go well.
But they also don't have a great, great foundational running game.
Yeah.
Well, the hope is Jamal Williams is a little better.
when they go with a little bit more power.
But you're right, they don't.
They've got Swift is terrific,
but he's not a guy you're going to grind it out with.
So the hope is that they,
whether the tempo is a little bit faster,
a little higher with the past game,
maybe it's two or three times more per game.
They throw it.
Yeah.
Maybe they,
Ben Johnson's more innovative.
Maybe they go more huddled,
speed the offense up.
We'll see.
I got good vibes.
It's better.
Because last year,
probably the worst group of receivers I've seen in the 19 years
of doing the show,
the fantasy show with you.
I've never seen anything so bad.
It was embarrassing what they were putting out there last year.
Yeah.
Then it got better with Josh Reynolds.
Yeah, no, they did it.
Charks is really gifted.
He's been hurt.
Quintas Seafis is a good backup.
Clef Raymond, remember, he went from a starter.
Now he's like their sixth receiver.
That's kind of where.
Yep.
I had a combo with the dude at the combine by Dan Campbell.
I'm a fan of the dude.
I really am.
Green Bay Packers.
And not a lot of NFL insidery notes here.
I've talked with Rob Domofsky, who beat right
are there for ESPN recently.
He did like my Romeo Dubs call.
I'm feeling Romeo Dubs as this year's Amman Ross St. Brown.
It's a little ballsier than the St. Brown call last year, but I'm feeling me some
dubs.
Yeah, he's a guy that I put this on a list of, I should write this for your website.
If everything works out, dot, dot, dot, dot, this is the guy, okay?
He's probably getting my top three of that list.
Think about this right now.
Randall Cobb's only a slot. Lazzard will definitely start, but he's never been consistent.
He's had injuries.
Christian Watson's a project, though.
I'm totally definitely flat, but it's what you would think, as he did in the senior ball.
He just runs away from people, but he needs to be more, his rot running needs to be better defined.
Doesn't have great hands.
Sammy Watkins is just a guy.
I shouldn't even say if everything, and Amari Rogers is more of a slot receiver,
someone's going to emerge.
Rogers is going to make a semi-star out of somebody.
Exactly.
And Dubbs has got that guy.
No doubt. Aaron Jones, A.J. Dillon locked in just like last year.
We'll see about Robert Tunyon. No real updates there on his return. Minnesota,
creating some headlines a little bit more pass-happy under Kevin O'Connell.
I think they're ready for this.
You think?
Absolutely. Yep. Dalvin Cook more involved.
Kirkies in a system basically designed for him.
It is. It's a West Coast system.
Hopefully it'll force him.
just because of the way that Zimmer micromanaged the offense.
They can never get him into the kind of rhythm.
Like he would put numbers up.
But he was always capable, I felt, of playing better.
If you just get somebody who was not in the Stone Age for offense,
and that meant Zimmer getting his hands off the offense.
Because any time there would be, it's kind of like Pete Carroll.
They want credit for the team.
They want it to be like they want it to be run.
And that's why he went.
through
Norve Turner,
Di Filippo.
You go through the list
of guys who he ran out of town.
Apparently,
Kirkie barely talked to Zimmer
last year.
Well,
he wouldn't be the only one there,
but the fact of the matter of
is Mike's a great defensive coach.
He's super old school,
and you just have to live with it.
You just have to live with it.
Well,
we live with it as a Viking fans,
and I've been critical of the guy
for half a decade.
You know,
I gave him a chance early on.
But Justin Jefferson,
my guy, I'm ranking them higher than anyone in the world.
I've got them at two overall, Adam.
And you've got the other than one.
Wow.
The great thing, see, there are some receivers when I've studied this over the years.
It's just from talking to coaches who are, they're not scheme, they're not scheme dependable.
Like certain receivers can only work or one guy can only play against zone.
One guy could only play against man.
It doesn't matter with Justin Jefferson.
No, he crushes it all.
He could be in any coverage.
He could win in any scheme.
This is going to be a true old school West Coast offense timing.
Get it out of your hand.
Got to be more precise, cousins.
He's got to see it a little better, process better.
They'll move Jefferson around.
They'll be smart.
And Phelan's bad.
KG. Osborne's a good backup.
Who could run?
Albert Wilson's a good backup.
That's a good depth sign.
B.C. Johnson.
The receiver core is decent.
I like Mason Irv Smith for sure.
Yeah, they feel really good about their offensive line.
They actually have depth this year.
Yeah, Darrysoil's going to be a stud.
Yep, Darrysal's going to be.
He's healthy now.
So they're at least eight deep.
Chris Reid's a very underrated signing as a guard who started games before.
Slotma comes over from Denver.
I like the Udo, who's started some games would be a good backup.
And R. Smith is healthy.
So look, Brian O'Neill is great at right tackle.
So this offense could be really good in Connell's first year.
And I love that he's calling the plays.
As a Viking, I know you're a diehard Viking fan.
And Ed Donne tells the defense coordinator who's been around a long time.
You're going to love the fact that they're going to have a,
the head coach is calling the offense.
No one's going to micromanage it.
It's his offense.
And let's go.
And Cook will even do better.
If you thought doubt, no, I know Dalvin Cook gets searched a lot.
Heard a lot.
There's nothing.
More catches.
Let's go.
Dump off screens.
Yeah.
Look.
And by the way, they're all built into the West Coast offense.
There's, as Marty Morningwegg told me, there's never an excuse to not getting to an outlet guy.
It's built into every West Coast offense that Bill Walsh created.
So, yeah.
What if Dalvin catches like 60 balls this year?
I could see that.
Sure.
Oh, boy.
Like Todd girl.
I don't have a game to play, but yeah.
Like Todd Gurley.
Over in the AFC, South Atlanta,
talk about what you've heard about this upcoming battle at quarterback.
Yeah, I know I'm a minority.
I'm generally a minority on quarterback battles.
And then it's just, I kind of know where Marcus Mariotta is at this point.
He's a guy that's been beat up physically for years, had surgeries and so forth.
He's just a, he's an athletic backup who I think, if we're being honest here,
he shouldn't be starting.
and Lesse, even when he was good for Tennessee early in his career before all the injuries,
he left plays on the field.
You know, he flicks the ball.
He just doesn't have the greatest arm in the world.
He's super athletic.
Really good a kid, by the way.
But it doesn't have a great arm.
He's slender build.
I know he's built his body up, but he's had too many injuries.
Ritter throws the ball better.
He can run.
He also needs to put some weight on, but he's a, he's a talented kid.
I know not ever.
I know CoSell likes him, but I would tell you NFL people I'm close with or not on on, on,
on, same page with Greg on this one.
But some quarterback coaches I'm pretty tight with say they like them, don't love them.
They definitely seem as a nice developmental quarterback.
He went, by the way, third round was perfect for him.
He's a guy that needs a little bit of work.
But because Mario da Jona, I just, I'm not sold that he could be the guy.
This is an open competition.
I'm giving rid of a real chance to win it.
He has to go out and win it.
I mean, Mario da is the favorite.
I get that, but I'm not rolling that out, Ritter getting it.
Which quarterback duo produces more, Ritter, Marioada, or Sammy Darnold, or Matt Carrell in Carolina?
If Darnold's a quarterback, we don't know.
Matt Ruhl is desperate to win.
He has personnel control with the Panthers.
He knows his jobs on the line.
They're still looking for quarterbacks.
We'll see.
but if Donald's a quarterback.
How about this?
Between Darnold, Corral, Marietta, Ritter,
who's going to finish highs in the rankings?
I'm sorry?
Between Darnold, Corral, Marioita, and Ritter,
who's going to score the most fantasy points this year?
I know that's brutal.
I'm taking Ritter, and again, it's just a dartth.
Okay.
See, with the Panthers felt that with better offensive line play,
because they had it, you know,
we knew they were going to have bad offensive line.
I think it was actually worse than he projected.
It was terrible.
He couldn't step in the throws.
And, you know, he has trouble processing anyway, Darnold.
But he had a good offseason.
Their line is much better, Carolina.
And Atlanta's line is okay.
Atlanta's problem, folks, is too many mitchmatch parts with different regimes.
You got three first round picks and two third round picks on their offensive line.
They were drafted for different schemes.
It hasn't worked, and I don't know that it'll overwork, quite fine.
Terris Marshall as we move over to Carolina.
I know he's had a productive offseason.
They're pretty bullish.
The Panthers really like him.
For Dynasty League,
we got to get a sounder on our radio show, Dynasty League Alert.
Yeah.
This is what I used for Mooney two years ago.
And Gabe Davis, before anyone knew who they were.
I'm like, I'm telling you, you got to get on these guys now.
No one will know anyone about them.
Because remember, the media couldn't get access to practice.
So I was like, just, I'm telling you, these guys will be good by year three.
So Terris Marshall's
Maybe we could play the Dynasty theme song
Yeah, right
I never watch
Which I don't know what that is
Yeah, I don't know
I just know Joan Collins and John Forthice
Was that it?
Yeah
We're on that show in the mid-80s
But Terris Marshall is a very gifted player
And by the way, they definitely see him more
On the outside that inside.
I know he could play both
So look for him to be Robbie Anderson's replacement
In 20203
That
Here we go.
Hold on, hold on.
Hold on.
So if I can get this.
Can you hear it?
Yes.
Hello?
It's not that good.
No, you're too far away.
I can't hear you.
I'm too far away.
Never mind.
I try it.
We can try it.
We'll workshop it.
But yes, Dynasty alert.
Right.
So what I'm telling you, and here's why I feel this way.
So looking at, let me go over my Excel file here,
looking at Anderson's contract, he signed through 2023.
But here's the insider tip for you.
There's no guaranteed money next year.
They have to make a decision on his roster bonus of $3 million by the fifth day of free agency,
which will be like the third week of March.
His cap number is an unhealthy.
This is just, I know why they did it to create cap space.
They converted part of his base salary to a signing bonus.
And what happens is it jacks up your future cap charges.
This is crazy.
This is a quarterback cap number, 21.7 million.
Obviously, he can't come back with that number.
So for him to even be in consideration to come back next year,
he has to have a great season, stay healthy,
and then I don't know how you even work it out.
And Marshall was, well, the thought was Marshall was drafted
to be his guy anyway, to take over from him anyway.
So Dynasty League Alert, Marshall's get Marshall now.
Tampa Bay, no gronk,
Cambrate, presumably steps in.
They've got the rookie Otten.
Godwin, our guy,
guy Greg Allman of the athletic, wouldn't be surprised if Godwin opens the season on PUP.
Yeah.
I have a bad vibe on Tampa, but, you know, they're still led by the goat.
What's that?
Still led by the goat.
Yeah, but you're down on them.
You're out, right?
I am.
A little bit.
Yes, I am.
Look, two offensive line changes.
They really like Russell Gage.
I can tell you, I know that he doesn't have a lot of juice for fantasy.
that he's kind of like he's this guy could always run well
but he didn't because of the quarterback with Ryan doesn't have a great arm
and Atlanta had offensive line problems
they'll take some shots with uh look look for gauges
yards per catch to be a little bigger than yeah no yeah he's going to
essentially be the AB I think it's a drop ball from Brown
but he'll be more available than Antonio for sure for sure our guy Rashad White
off to a good start we'll see when the pads go on
And Leonard, by the way, little hefty now.
He's a little hefty all the time.
But as he gets older and older, it's probably harder and harder to bounce back.
This is his thing.
He drops a lot of weight, but I don't like that either.
Yeah, I would say that I know White hasn't taken the job yet.
Bernard's just there to be more of a third downback.
Although, man, when he's filled in over the years, you know, he turns 31.
I think he's toast.
He tries to turn 20, 20.
2013 my god wow ninth year yeah i remember i met him that year nice guy yeah he's nice guy yeah he
nice guy very nice guy white again the one thing i've learned to teach myself and in there to just to hang in
there it's never about week one it's about the totality of the season
we're shot white's going to want to be in the handcuff i'm not worried about any report
oh for sure don't worry about it be careful of and i'm friends with almost every beat writer you've
mentioned i'm friends with you know i know guys personally so i'm not criticizing them
but I learned my lesson last year with the stuff on Chase.
I'm not saying don't ignore it.
Yeah.
But take it for what it is at the particular time.
Just remember this cream always rises to the top.
It almost always does.
We did not react to that with Chase or Burrow, luckily.
Moving on here.
Just be careful when you see this guy struggling.
Just be careful.
Don't, if you like the guy, just because he's having a bad week, don't worry about it.
We only have about seven or eight minutes left.
We do have to get off for another podcast recording here.
It's like a Grand Central Station here, the podcast feed.
But in San Fran, you know, we continue to hear rumors about maybe Baker Mayfield in Seattle.
Where are we at right now with Jimmy Jean?
What are we going to learn over the next month?
The teams involved were under the pressure he'd be thrown by training camp, so I still think that's the case.
It's his right shoulder.
The Niners want badly, Lance, to start.
They're going to do everything they can to make this work and move Garoppolo.
The question is, will he be willing to take a pay cut?
24.2 million will not be able to get that.
That's his base salary.
Nobody wants it.
Carolina, I'm told, his interest in him.
They're not taking that contract.
Nobody wants it.
So maybe the Niners pay some of it like the teams who like Baker-Mayfield want.
Seattle's not trading for Mayfield, not at his contract, not at 18.8 million.
So not saying that they have interest, but the not at the salary.
it he's making now. So unless something changes, from what I understand, privately, that's not
where they want to go. So unless they change their mind, these quarterback things are still in flux.
Now, we're still four weeks away, three and a half, four weeks away. We'll see. Pretty much,
there'll be some offensive line changes with the Niners and the, on the interior. So that's a little,
something to keep an eye on. We're going to get a Debo resolution or is there anything to resolve?
He'll get the A.J. Brown contract somewhere on, I believe it'll be around 25 million years.
same agent, by the way.
And they're going to work, my understanding is they're going to work through the rotation
in training camp because, you know, Wilson got hurt last year.
He came back from the meniscus surgery.
Davis Price is a rookie.
Mitchell was great, but the reality is physically, I don't, he's not going to hold up
being a lead back.
So they'll, we'll see.
Is Trey Serman like in the dirt?
Well, he's on the team.
He needs to, you know, they're going to hand him the job.
And I think he must have taken that to heart because he didn't show up.
up like you should have.
Yeah.
So in the end, that's what, Davis Price is a guy.
I haven't been to their camp in a couple years, but I actually may go.
I just want to, I'm very curious what's going to change.
There's some little tweaks because of the offensive line and can Iyuk take his game
up to another level?
There's a lot going on there with this team.
Now, in Arizona with DeAndre Hopkins talking about, you know, basically disputing the dispute,
like the suspension, he's got nothing to stand.
on, right? Yeah, he's, once it's handed down, it's final. So I don't, you know, it would be historic.
I've never heard of a suspension that was announced being reversed. Right. Generally,
you get with the appeal process go and then, you know, you go from there. The only, there are a couple
issues here, quickly here. So we know the numbers are horrific last season when DeHop was out with his hamstring,
the knee injury and the knee surgery. Terrible. Everything. Everything.
drop for Murray,
complicit percentage.
You take every metric that you evaluate a quarterback.
They were terrible.
They went way down.
AJ Green's back.
I get Hollywood Brown's back as former college teammate.
Rondell Moore, quiet as 50 catches NFL history.
And hey, look, they drafted a tight end and Cherry McBride and Ertz's back.
They actually may do a decent amount of 12 personnel, which has never been Cliff King, Kingsbury's thing.
But they probably will do it.
pretty much all self-explanatory
this offense. The only thing
is how much 12 versus 11 they'll play.
I think Murray will be okay because
with McBride in there,
Ertz, who lose great
last season. I saw a safety valve.
Yeah, I think he'll be okay. I think it'll be okay.
Yeah. And Darrell 1L. Williams
also going to be
certainly going to be
the handcuff, I think, to James
Connor. Over for the L.A. Rams,
I'm sure you're hearing,
same thing I'm hearing, that it's probably only
matter of time to Odell Beckham, assuming things goes well, signs there.
Yeah, I just don't know, though, when it happens, when he'll be ready and what he could
even contribute. I have no idea. It's, you know, he's had a lot of injuries in his careers
clearly on the back nine. You just don't know how he could run, but he gave them some juice.
Once he started understanding what he's supposed to be doing, because the first couple
weeks there, he kind of up and down, then he really started getting it going. It's too bad it got
hurt during the playoffs. But no, it's look, Robinson. I'm very interested to see where they line him up
because, as I outlined a year ago,
the Bears really thought he should play inside, not outside,
but they didn't have an ex-receiver to replace him,
so he had to still play on the outside.
We know Cups only slot, really,
but he's a dynamic slot and explosive.
And Van Jefferson's there and Higby,
and it's a decent pass-target group,
but, you know, Cup has lost nothing.
He's NFL's best receiver still at 30, 29 years old.
I mean, let's go.
Finally, Seattle, are we stuck with these quarterbacks
or might something still get done?
and then handicap the backfield here in two minutes?
So Mayfield, look, they have interest.
There's no question.
It'll be Drew Locke to start week one, barring it.
I know Smith is leading.
Don't worry about that.
They're being nice about it.
They're speaking well with Gino.
He's been on their team for a while.
The players love him.
The front office wanted Drew Locke in the 19 draft.
The coaches wanted him.
They like Drew Locke.
I know both are bad.
It's lesser of two evils.
Locke's got a stronger arm, but they're both brutal.
they're not done potentially adding.
They'll see what becomes available.
They'll see what happens with,
I know some people around the league are predicting that
if the Cahawks will get involved if they drop,
if Cleveland Cuts may feel, which they make it clear they don't want to do.
We'll see.
But they're going to have a high traffic.
They're going to be a bad team, so hopefully they'll get their quarterback next year.
Pennies to the clear guy now.
Walker will back them up.
They don't know if Carson will be able to play again.
And that's pretty much it.
They'll see with DJ Dallas and Homer and third down.
They'll figure that out.
I still believe Kenneth Walker will take the job.
I know that it's being reported there that it's clear that Penny's the guy.
I get it.
We're also in June.
I'm an end game guy.
Tell me what the end game's going to be.
It's going to be Walker taking this job at some point.
