It's time to the Fantasy Points podcast brought to you by FantasyPoints.com.
Top level fantasy football and NFL betting analysis from every perspective and angle,
from numbers to the film room, with a single goal to help you score more fantasy points.
Five of the NFL season, my name is Joe Dolan.
His name is Tom Broly, and guys, this is going to be a little bit different
market report recap podcast, and I'm going to be completely honest.
if you've been following along with my Twitter feed or if you're a fantasy point subscriber or anything like that,
you know that I was completely out of commission this weekend.
I was at two weddings.
I was in one.
Had to give a speech on the Sunday wedding.
So here's the funny part.
You're listening to a recap podcast for games that I did not watch.
I was completely engaged.
I could not watch the games.
I've barely seen highlights.
Like the only game that I was able to.
even get some eyes on was the London game and the Sunday night game between the
Buccaneers and the Chiefs. And quite frankly, T. Brow, I was not in a state of mind to
absorb the Buccaneers and Chiefs game. Let's put it that way. I am, you're going to have to
coach me through this one. So this. I'll do the best I can too. I was at a wedding on Saturday.
You were made an appearance as well. So this was a busy weekend for all of us. I was able to get
home, we're both playing a little wounded, but we'll get through this. Hey, Joe, you're off to a good start,
though. You remembered your name. I mean, that was a, I'm sure you're dealing with a little bit of a
hangover right now, but I think the podcast is off to a great start here so far. I've got some coffee,
I've got some water. I've got some trail mix next to me. You know, get that, get that calorie-dense
stuff in you, that sweet and salty. Anyway, okay, Tom, we're going to do this. You're going to have to
coach me through this. Our guy, Sam Wagman, over at Fantasy Points, is going to help us write the
article. And then just to
fantasy point subscribers, I'm, I just
want to apologize. Thanks for bearing with me. I know
like I've, I've been really
proud of my presence in Discord
how constantly it's been, but I just
couldn't do it this weekend. And I just
Tom, I want to thank you, thank Graham, thank
everybody for like kind of picking up the slack for me.
So without further ado,
let's get into it. Let's get into the dolphins
and the Bengals Thursday night.
Obviously, we
know what happened with Tua. Yeah.
I don't know if we need to, I think
that's been beaten to a to a pulp here over the last three or four days i don't think we really need
to get into that but obviously he's going to be he's out for the i would hope they have made some
mistakes here but i would hope that he sits out at least a week or two uh let let let his brain
rest here a little bit but yeah that was that was a terrifying scene on thursday nights so yeah he's
anybody that has been playing him he's obviously going to be probably out of commission here
yeah i'm not i don't even feel like writing him up
like down.
That doesn't exactly like speak to me right now.
Yeah, I mean, he is down.
I wrote it up.
You know, I write up these Thursday games after the fact.
But yeah, don't expect to be using him for fantasy anytime soon, unfortunately.
Yeah.
Okay.
Well, by the way, Joe Mixing got in the end zone, which was overdue.
Yeah, he was, I think he's kind of the big story coming out of that game, at least from
fantasy perspective.
I know you were, you know, spread in the, you know, spreading the,
the word of Scott Barrett's
XFP their last week.
How he was kind of snake-bitten a little bit
that couldn't find the end zone.
And he was still a little bit
snake-pitten in that game, though.
He scored the touchdown,
but I believe he had five or six other chances
from like the six-yard line and end.
They settled for a field goal and one.
I think maybe two of them.
He had multiple chances to get, you know,
break through for, you know, two-touchdown game,
but couldn't quite do it.
But it's been ideal usage for him so far this year.
Hasn't been quite as effective as we did like to see.
He's only averaging 2.7 yards per carry in the early going.
But finally got into the end zone last week,
so mixing owners can at least breathe a little bit of a sigh of relief here.
It's got to Minnesota, New Orleans, and Tom,
I think one of the ironies is I probably saw more of this game than you did.
Oh, absolutely, yeah, I was driving basically.
I missed most of the first half watched a couple minutes.
of the third quarter and then I had to do the live stream. So, yeah, I didn't catch much of this
game. So you could coach me through this one. Yeah. So it was, Dalvin Cook, man, what a tough
SOB he is. I mean, like, he not only doesn't play in that game, he gets 22 touches. So Dalvin Cook,
I mean, I think I'm just going to put Dalvin Cook up for the fact that last week we put him down,
thought he wasn't going to play. Turns out he plays. And he gets 22 touches through playing. So
He's kind of this week's Joe Mixing, don't you think?
Yeah, he's been getting all the quality touches and just even the touchdown that Alexander
Madison scored.
I can see why they took him off the field.
It was, you know, third and 15 at the goal line.
You know, not really, they're not thinking, oh, we're going to score a touchdown here.
So let's take Novin off the field.
And then, of course, Madison scores on the play.
So it really feels like he's kind of this week's Joe Mixing.
Yeah, I mean, I don't know what else to write with Minnesota.
of like, you know, Jefferson.
I think, I think feeling is a little bit of an up if we want to do something on that.
You know, he was kind of written off the first two weeks.
Yeah.
You know, he's back to where he was.
He hasn't found the end zone.
You know, I don't think he scored yet this season, but.
Yeah, he did.
I think he scored last week.
Oh, he did score last week.
Okay.
But, you know, the targets have gone up here.
Yeah.
I think, you know, I don't, we don't necessarily have to do him.
But I think he's at least a guy that's printing up.
up and you can use them with some confidence as a wide receiver three now.
And I think we got, obviously, we got to watch Camara and Michael Thomas.
Like, like, I said this to you guys on the text thread yesterday, but what little time I was
able to actually spend on the thread.
And I'm like, oh, man, like, it would have been better if Camara was suspended.
You know, you're completely right.
It's just been a very frustrating story.
You've used him a couple times and he's, you know, underperformed.
and in and out of the line up here with this rib injury,
can't quite get over it.
So, yeah, this is about as frustrating as it gets for anybody that drafted Kamara
in the late first round, early second round.
This is just a miserable start to the season.
Yeah, I do want to watch Thielen a little bit,
because Thielen actually was limping at times during that game.
I think he got rolled up on on his ankle.
He was in and out of the line, but he was mostly, I mean,
I'm going to see if there was an update or something,
but I don't think it was anything to worry about.
Mark Ingram got dinged up in that game, obviously.
So we got to watch that.
Freaking Latavius Murray.
Are you kidding me?
Like, freaking sacks.
Yeah, hopefully Kamara's back.
Yeah, this back is a complete mess right now, though.
Yeah, Latavius, he did look decent.
I didn't even write him up because I thought Ingram was more of a factor.
I didn't realize he got banged up a little bit.
So, Thiel and played 97% of the snaps.
So I guess he's doing all right.
I didn't really see him.
and any injury.
Yeah, yeah.
He's checking out.
We'll see if he's sore this week.
Cleveland and Atlanta.
Tom, this is literally the first time I'm looking at this box score.
So bear with me.
What did you see from this game?
Holy crap, Marcus Mariotta.
I can't say I saw much of it.
I think this was the one game.
You know, there's always a game on the Red Zone channel that they basically don't show.
And this was basically that game.
Seven completions, the old Justin Fields line for Marcus Mariotta.
Cordero Patterson, I don't know what we're going to do here.
This backfield is a complete mess.
Alger.
He's got the knee.
Yeah, well, that's what I think it was.
He wasn't very, he, thank God, he scored a touchdown very early in that game to kind of soften the blow of his limited workload here.
But they were clearly like limiting his snaps in this game.
Damien Williams will be probably back in the mix in the next week or two.
too, and it kind of seemed like they wanted him to be the lead runner before he got hurt real
early in the season opener.
So, you know, I think Patterson is at least a little bit of a down here.
Yes, he is.
Kyle Pants.
Oh, my God.
If Mario da's going to stink, like, we were worried about hits this season with Marioita
playing pretty well.
Yeah.
I mean, yeah.
I mean, it was, I will say Mariotta's played fairly well up until this point, but we
Yeah, seven completions, you got no chance to put up any kind of production, as we've seen with the Chicago Bears the last couple of weeks with Darnal Mooney and Colquemette.
So, yeah, I don't know if we just do a general down for the Falcons passing game or, you know, because Drake London had a rough one.
Or we just, you know, write it off as a, you know, just a.
London at least saw seven targets.
Like, I know he caught just two of them for 17 yards, but he at least saw seven targets.
Over to the Cleveland side, Tom.
David and Joku, man, this guy is usable every week at this point.
Yeah, we don't need to ride him up necessarily.
He's like a fringe waiverware guy.
He was like, I think about like 60% owned.
So don't really need to do anything on him.
I mean, I don't know what to say about Amari Cooper.
He probably got AJ Terrell.
Yeah, he got Terrelled.
So, you know, that's why we saw Donovan People's Jones.
pop up for the first time since week one.
I don't really know if there's much to take away from the...
This team is pretty cut and dry at this point.
Yeah.
I would expect better things from Cooper going forward.
He got Tyrelled in this one.
Yeah, and like you play him every week,
and you know he can go for a hundred in a touchdown,
or he can go for less than 10 yards.
You know, that's just...
Yeah, this is not new territory for anybody
that's had Amori Cooper in the past.
He likes to wilt in tough matchups.
He's notorious for putting up the goose egg.
So at least he got you a catch laugh yesterday.
So not many positive to take away from it.
But he's been known to do this in the past.
Buffalo and Baltimore, Tom.
When I was like checking the scores yesterday, this was a game where, you know,
I saw Baltimore was leaving basically the entire way.
And now I look at the box score and Buffalo won.
Yeah, they did.
They did the same thing, you know, against the Dolphins a couple of weeks ago.
They built up the big lead and couldn't put it away.
J.K. Dobbins is a guy that I think needs to be up on the court here.
Justice Hill picked up an injury, was in and out of the lineup.
They already have nothing, but he's got, you know, got the 13 carries last, last week here.
and four catches for a touchdown.
So, yeah, he's obviously trending up here.
Gus Edwards could be back starting this week.
There really hasn't been much news about his return quite yet,
but Dobbins is clearly a player that's moving in the right direction.
And Bateman finally got us here.
His usage has been horrific all season.
He actually led them in targets.
I know, but he was, I think they played.
told him from the game.
Somebody asked Harbaugh after the game if it was injury or performance-related,
and he said, we'll have to go back and look at the tape.
Oh, God.
That's, I guess, performance-related if you're, if you don't want to disclose an injury
there.
So I don't know, it could go either way there, but 44% of the snaps playing behind
DeMarcus Robinson and Devin DuVernay.
I don't know what's going on there.
There's clearly, they're not pleased with him.
there's something going on.
He's clearly, he's the most talented receiver on the roster,
and they have no talent at receiver, period.
And they've been reluctant to make him a full-time player,
and then we see him essentially get benched this week.
That's wonderful.
This is a terrible sign for him.
Now, Tom, I'm looking at the numbers from this game.
Again, you know, that's all I can do at this point.
Did not seem like a great day to be throwing the football.
I know the weather wasn't great in Baltimore.
more, just like it wasn't in Philadelphia, very similar, you know, right up the 95 quarter there.
Gabe Davis, three targets, one catch for 13 yards.
I would have to think the ankle was in play there.
But also, the numbers just didn't seem like it was conducive because neither Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson threw the ball well in this game.
No, Alan was off all day long.
They had a tough time manufacturing offense.
So, but, you know, Gabe, this is, I mean, this is an awful start for him after the big season, you know, the season opening game there against the Rams.
This is, this has not been ideal.
He's battling through this ankle injury.
He continues to play basically every snap.
You know, he was on 63 of 63 snaps last, yesterday.
Oh, he played every snap.
Well, that's good.
Yeah, I mean, it was the same deal last week whenever he played through the ankle injury.
So, you know, I think maybe he's at least a watch.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, I don't want to say as a down, you know, he's getting, he's playing a lot of snaps.
He just, he just needs to get over this ankle injury right now.
And, you know, certainly the conditions didn't help.
Right.
The weather was bad.
So I'm like, I'm trying to, you know, balance that.
Let's move to Washington and Dallas.
Here's what I do know.
I do know, I think Antonio Gibson played on a season low.
SnapShare and Brian Robinson's eligible to come back next week.
Yeah, the Antonio Gibson cell window has officially closed.
And this team is bad.
It's one of the worst teams in the league.
They're going to be playing from behind a lot of weeks.
J.D. McKissick is going to be playing a lot of snaps.
He was at 51% of the snaps this week.
Now he's got pressure from Robinson likely coming this week.
I think that was Ian Rappaport before the game,
said that he's expected to be activated this week.
So Antonio Gibson, anybody that had him,
I hope you enjoyed the first two weeks of the season.
It's going to get ugly here for him probably.
So, you know, maybe he'll surprise us,
but it's all trending in the wrong direction for him.
Well, Dotson scored again.
You can use him.
Tom, I did not see much of this game.
But, Wents is not.
numbers look just atrocious.
Yeah, he was, it was the same, same script kind of his last, you know, and that was kind of
the thinking coming into this game that the offensive line has really struggled to protect
them.
And it was a, it was a similar kind of script to the Eagles game in week three under, under pressure.
And he was not, you know, 170 yards on 42 attempts is not going to get it done.
And McLauran, you know, I don't know if he necessarily was, you know, Diggs was.
you know, Diggs was on him full-time, but he...
Well, that's a matchup that can be one, though, right?
Yeah, it can go either way with him.
Diggs is kind of that real volatile type of player,
but certainly he got wiped out here.
And, you know, we haven't felt good about McCorrin all season long
just because of the Wendt situation
and a loaded receiving court here.
But, yeah, this is certainly possible with McCorm moving forward
these ugly games with playing with Carson Williams.
Just a couple of notes I'm going to make with Dallas.
Tom, just looking at the box score again.
Dak Prescott could be back, but like, here's the question I have.
Why would you rush it right now?
They're three and no with Cooper Rush.
I totally agree.
I wrote that in the Waver Wire.
I kept Cooper Rush as, you know, I don't know if you're necessarily playing.
Maybe you're in a two-kegee league.
but I kept them on there.
You know, three no, undefeited.
He's four, no, actually, if you account for last year's game against the Vikings on primetime television there.
So I don't see much of a reason to rush this back.
It seems like they're rushing him, period, anyway.
I mean, the initial reports.
Yeah.
Right after the injury where this is probably a 68-week injury.
So it's a tough spot to go win.
You know, it's got the Rams on Sunday night football, I believe, or maybe it's Monday night, but it's a big game.
But I just don't see a reason to rush him back here.
So, yeah, if you've been sitting on deck, I would think that he probably sits out another week.
Yeah.
So I'll have a, I'm going to give that game to our guy, Sam Wagman.
I'm going to have him just give an update.
Hey, you know, he could be back, but like.
I could do that one, Joe.
I did write up the rush one for waiver, so it's kind of similar.
Okay.
I got to say, Lamb, everybody was like
sunkeling dirt on them after week one, and it was ugly,
11 targets, two catches against a very good buck in your secondary,
but this is what we kind of expected.
He's seeing a ton of targets.
We were hoping for like that 25 to 30 percent target share coming into the season,
and he's kind of been right in that range,
and he's starting to produce here.
So it was an ugly drop.
on Monday night football last week,
but he's putting up numbers here in the last three weeks.
So all those people that panicked sell, you know,
you know, that panicked and sold him after week one
are probably kicking their, kicking their asses right now
for making that move.
Seattle, Detroit, this was chalk for DFS.
And it came through except for the fact that freaking Rashad Penny.
Are you kidding me?
He's alive.
Yeah.
Oh, my God.
I wouldn't get too excited about that one.
But, I mean, at the very least, Kenneth Walker has been a complete non-factor in this backfield.
So maybe Penny can, you know, parlay this into a little bit more success.
But if I was John Hansen writing up the trade article, I think he might be the cover boy for this week's article.
Oh, I think he's going to be, knowing how John feels about Rashad Penny.
And Geno can get Metcalf and lock at the ball.
That's at least something that you can take away from this game.
Tom, over to the Detroit side.
The Hawk alarm.
Sound the Hawk alarm.
I had the,
in our fantasy points dynasty league,
I had Deshawn Watson for the last two years.
So I've been basically streaming
the dregs of the waiver wire
for the last year plus.
And I have the Jared Gough
and T.J. Hawkinson combination.
So I apologize to Scott Barrett
for hanging a crooked number on his ass in this week's contest.
I had that same combination in the auction league against Graham,
and I just realized it.
Oh, gosh, well, sorry, sorry Graham.
I don't think you won your matchup either there.
Well, he's got Sam Fran's defense tonight, so he's got a shot.
But, oh, man, Hawkinson, Jamal Williams up.
I mean, he's an RB1 right now.
He's leading the league in rushing touchdowns.
100 to 1 odds that he would lead the league in rushing touchdowns to begin the season.
And now I would think he's climbing into at least the top 10 and maybe even the top 5 guy at this point.
But he's a must start here.
We think Swift will be back week 7, get them through their week 6'5.
But, I mean, he's an RB1 right now.
And Craig Reynolds, I mean, it was, we thought maybe it would be more of a kind of like a,
how they were using Swift and
Jamal Williams, but
tomorrow when we played on 50% of the snaps
and he got so many
it was just like if he was in the game,
he was getting the ball. So,
yeah, he's a must start
next week against the Patriots, that's for sure.
John is going to victory lap this one
because he's been pounding the trade
for Austin Echler.
Oh, really? I mean, yeah, and John's not even
an Echler guy.
Not at all, not at all.
But he was pounding on the table for trade for Austin Echler while you can.
Austin Echler, LAC and Houston, he scores three touchdowns.
Yeah, he looked good too.
And took advantage of a nice match up there.
So we can bump him up.
I'd say him and Joe Mixon were kind of the guys that were disappointing here a little bit.
But they both came through if you used a first round pick on him.
so he's certainly up, man, what Josh Palmer?
Oh, my God.
What the hell, man.
Man, what target?
I mean, that's a little bit of a sidetrack, but do we even need to write up another
Keenan Aller blurb?
I mean, we've been watching him for three weeks.
No, no, I'm not going to.
I would expect him to be back this week.
I mean, he's been real close, so they play in Cleveland here this week,
but I would expect him to be back.
But Mike Williams, the Mike Williams roller coaster.
Holy crap, we go up and down with this guy.
We got a one for 120 yards in this one.
So he goes, he's kind of like.
I don't even know if you need to write him up.
Oh, no, no, no.
I don't think we need to.
I'm just saying that he's, yeah, we were talking about Amari Cooper earlier.
He's kind of, kind of Mari Coup, you know, these, he'll put these duds up and then absolutely explode for 120 yards.
So, yeah, I don't think we need to need to do much on this team outside of Echler breaking
through with the three touchdowns.
And then over on Houston side, I don't think we need to do a whole lot with Houston,
except Dave Pierce up.
20 opportunities.
He catches six balls.
He has a 75-yard touchdown run.
I mean, this guy's a little, like, I didn't see, I mean, obviously, Tom, I'm looking
at the box store, but it seems like this guy's just a legitimately good football player.
I think he is.
I mean, week one was just an aberration at this point.
I think Pep Hamilton and Lovie Smith overthought that one.
Burkhead unfortunately did score a receiving touchdown in this one.
But the six, you know, six catches.
I know it only went for eight yards, but I mean,
that's like kind of been the one thing about Damien Pierce.
Is he going to be able to get passing game work?
And at least in this one,
even if it didn't go for a lot of yardage to seeing the six targets
is a positive sign for him moving forward.
He was a guy coming out of Florida that had that potential to,
we thought he could be a good receiving back in the league.
So he has that three-down capability.
And we at least saw a little bit of that this week and week four with the six targets.
Tennessee and Indianapolis, let's do this one really quickly, Tom.
Derek Henry up five more targets.
Okay.
Now, it's two games.
I'm not saying it's a trend just now.
But it's five more targets.
Tennessee is stabilizing here.
And I think, by the way, I just think Indy is.
Bad, bad. Yeah, I know. Oh, my God. Wait till Thursday night. Them and the Broncos on Thursday
night football. But yeah, Traylon Burks unfortunately got hurt. He's a wave wire guy, but they're thin
with a receiver anyway, and now you take out your first round pick. So Derek Henry, they might not
have a choice, but to keep him involved as a receiver with their lack of weapons in this passing game
right now.
And Jonathan Taylor picked up an ankle injury.
Son of a gun.
Yeah, and it looks like it might be the high ankle variety.
So you can give me this one.
I did the, do the waiver wire, obviously, Naim Hines.
He's, you know, he's like a 65%.
I included him on there, but I can move the write up.
We can put up.
Yeah.
What was it?
He's like a must add.
It'll be interesting.
I'm not.
I'm not positive how exactly this backfield's going to break down with Taylor out.
Because I don't think they want to give Heinz 20 carries a game.
That's just not the type of player he is.
But I do think he will take control of the, you know,
he should be a 60 to 70% snapshot kind of guy.
And they'll probably mix in Dion Jackson and Phil Lindsay behind them.
But things went from bad to worse here for the Colts here.
now their best players out.
Well, Jonathan Taylor, rap sheet says they don't think it's serious,
so maybe that's good news.
Okay, I did not see that.
Is that a report from this morning?
Yeah.
So, but I would still expect him.
You know, he's, there's no way he's playing Thursday night, I would think.
So, but maybe, maybe it's limited to a one-week absence for Jonathan Taylor
owners that took him first overall this year.
Bears at the Giants, Sequan's good, I guess.
Yeah, I don't even want to talk about it, but I have a nice 50-to-1 ticket on him.
I'll probably bring it up every week.
Oh, no.
I'll bring it up every week on this podcast until he unfortunately gets hurt.
But you feel pretty good about that one right now.
We'll see how it plays out.
But damn, I mean, he's the only thing they got right now.
Holy man.
What happened to Daniel Jones?
Yeah, he picked up an ankle injury.
Then Tyraud Taylor came into the game and got a concussion.
So they play in London this week.
So I don't know what they're going to do.
I'm sure Daniel Jones will probably try to give it a go and play.
But it's so bad right now.
I don't, they are one of the weirdest three-and-one teams I've ever seen in my time doing this.
This is 10-plus years doing this now.
I mean, they literally don't have a receiver right now.
I mean, they're playing David Sills as.
pacing them in snaps here last week here.
It's Juan Dale Robinson can't get healthy.
Cadarius Tony doesn't want to play football.
I mean, Kenny Goladay picks up a knee injury.
What a pile of shit Kenny Goladay is.
Holy crap.
Yeah, now he picks up a knee injury.
Oh, I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
He did.
He did.
All right.
It was to be expected that he was going to get hurt as soon as he might actually
have a chance to play.
So, Darius Slayton is back.
He's alive.
They're like, well, you know what?
I guess we got to play Darius Slayton.
So he played 60% of the snap.
So that's how deep down the depth tard he was.
He wasn't even played.
It took like four injuries in front of him to finally start seeing snaps.
So Darius Slayton is indeed alive.
Okay.
We're not writing up anything with the Bears.
This is Justin Field's best game of the year.
and, you know, Tom, again, I didn't see much of this, but if, like, like, I saw people, like, on Twitter, like, hey, Justin Fields.
And I'm like, oh, okay, maybe he played well and he's 11 to 22.
Like, is this where we're at right now?
Like, yes, this is, this is where we're at. Yeah. And I'm not, I don't want to write anything on Mooney.
I don't want to write anything on this passing. It's like, yeah, it just cannot be trusted.
At least, yeah.
Mooney showed why we touted him.
I still don't feel good about using him.
No, I would never.
He's one of those guys,
unless Fields just has this unbelievable transformation
at some point this season.
I would be sick to my stomach
any time I would have it in my lineup
because a goose egg is right around the corner probably.
Okay, Philly and Jacksonville and Philly.
Tom, let me know if there were any injuries from it,
but I don't know how much you can glean from this game.
I know the condition.
Well, I was in a wedding here in Philadelphia.
Philadelphia, so I know what the conditions were.
Yeah, it was, it was sloppy.
Nothing really on the offensive side of the ball for, for the Eagles.
My lot of left early with a shoulder injury, but none of the skill guys.
Jacksonville, Zay Jones didn't play in this one.
Oh, my God.
Trevor Lawrence lost four fumbles?
Oh, yeah, he couldn't hold it.
Oh, my God.
Oh, yeah.
It was so slow.
And they had a 14-0 lead, and he just fumbled it away to him.
So, yeah.
I honestly don't have very much to take away from either side of the ball here.
Except, I gave out a Kirk prop over 57 a half receiving yards.
I think he was 0 for seven on his first seven targets.
And then, you know, he found his way behind the defense for one big play.
And I think it was two consecutive catches to get over the 60 yards.
So thank you my lucky stars there.
I don't know what to really take away from this for the Jaguars.
Philly side, I mean, it's...
Miles Sanders.
Yeah, we got to do a Miles Sanders off, I think.
That's about it.
I mean, yeah, Boston Scott.
Yeah, Boston Scott was out of this game, so he got a lot of work.
Let's see, the Snap Shere.
67% of the SnapShare.
So, yeah, this was, they rode Miles Sanders in this one that kept Kenny Gamwell,
kind of in his passing back role.
and he took advantage of it.
So, yeah, he's up and he's playing.
Y'all, give him credit.
He's always been super talented.
Of course, like the first year that I'm kind of off of him,
he's starting to go off here.
Yeah, he's a super talented guy.
And they had to run.
See, this is the sign of a good team, though, Tom.
They had to run the ball in this game.
They did it.
Yeah, oh, yeah.
We know they can run the ball.
So, yeah.
And Jacksonville's been good against the run to start this season.
They've shut out pretty much their first three
opponent, you know, Jonathan Taylor had little to no success, Austin Echler, uh, last week.
So they've been very strong against the run up until this point. So, um, they, they slowly wore
them down 50, 50 carries in this game, a complete domination at the line of scrimmage.
All right, Tom, I'm going to give you this game, uh, the Jets at Pittsburgh because I'm guessing
you watched it, unfortunately for you. Um, I got to see my boy, Kenny P.
Oh, okay. So is, is that what, is that what you're taking away is like they bench Trubisky?
and now, like, there's actually some hope for the season?
Absolutely.
I mean, Pickett came into the game and he looked poised.
He was making quick decisions.
Actually throwing the ball downfield.
I mean, pretty novel idea.
Oh, he threw three picks.
Well, yeah, they, yeah.
One was on a Hail Mary and one was on a designed rollout to, you know,
and a pass downfield to chase Claypole.
And I think Matt Canada forgets that there's a role that you don't throw
the ball to chase Claypole and contested catch situations.
Claypole was trying to catch the ball falling away.
Meanwhile, the defender, you know, went up vertically and caught the balls, you know,
deflected the ball and got intercepted.
So his other interception to Pat Farramuth was totally on him.
That was an awful throw.
It kind of cost them the game.
Their defense really struggled in this one.
But if I was a Steelers fan, I'd be pretty optimistic about what I saw from Pickett
through the first game, even with the, you know, the box score looks ugly.
with the three interceptions.
Is Pickens a Waverwire guy?
Yeah, oh yeah, he's the top Waverwire guy.
Okay.
At receiver.
So Pat Friarmouth was looking, you know, nice little connection in the middle field here.
But Deonti, I don't think we need to really do anything on Deonté.
It was just a weird, weird game.
He did kind of, it was the first interception.
It was an awful throw by Trevisky, but it was also, it was a slant.
He threw it high and behind them, you know, big two no-n-n-nose.
when you're throwing a slant in the middle of the field.
But it was also one of those that it did get through his hand.
Deontes is known for his proclivity for dropping passes.
So it was kind of a 50-50 blame on that one.
But I think the overall, maybe we can do a friar moot or I don't know.
But overall, moving forward, I would have a lot more hope for this passing game,
actually having some success moving forward.
Okay, yeah, we'll do a little friar moot.
here. And then for the Jets, I'm going to say
Breece Hall up.
Dude, yeah. I mean, look at the
usage. Yep, it's
been kind of steady all
season here through the first four weeks
and we finally saw
him like kind of take over the backfield.
We thought, you know, that's why
we were aggressive on him.
In the preseason, we had him, you know,
ranked just as high or if not higher
than most people. And this
is kind of what we thought might happen
here. And we just got into
October here and he's
already taken, you know, I don't think Michael Carter's going, like, anywhere, but this,
this is probably going to be a 65-35 split moving forward, as we kind of saw this week,
with, with Reese getting the 17 carries and the touchdown.
I don't know.
Zach Wilson, he came through, I mean, the Steelers were, you know, they were giving up some,
easy passes in the middle of field at the end of the game, but he's still, he's, he's, he's, he still
showed a lot of signs that he looked a lot like the player that we saw from his rookie season here.
So I'd still be a little bit worried for these receivers, but yeah, I don't know who we,
who we really need to write up for, I mean, Wilson disappointed a little bit, but he saw
at least six targets, so. Yeah, and I mean, it also was Zach Wilson's first game in like, like,
Exactly.
What, seven weeks?
Yeah, and very little practice time in August.
So, yeah, maybe he gets better, but yeah, this passing game could be a little scary moving forward.
But he came through at the end and came up with the game winning drive.
So there's at least some positives to take away from this one.
Arizona at Carolina, again, first time I'm seeing this box score.
No, he made.
This was a game that they didn't show me.
There was three games on in the four o'clock window.
And this one was not featured very much because of Baker Mayfield.
Baker, Baker, Baker.
Oh, got it.
Hey, McCaffrey nine catches for 81 in a touchdown.
Yeah, that was about the only.
And they were trying to get DJ Moore going with the 11 targets.
So at least there's that.
But, you know, this is, we don't need to write up the Carolina Panthers at this point.
This is, they've been the same team.
Well, I do want to do McCaffrey.
because how many snaps did he play?
I'll see here, but he was on the field pretty much the entire game.
Yeah, I mean, I guess he's still a watch, but, uh, yeah, 87%.
So, yeah, he was...
All right, so I'm going to move him up just because they got him the ball in the passing game,
and he's...
And he obviously, like, this leg injury didn't, like, affect his usage.
Holy crap.
Kyler Murray got 12 carries.
I've only been screaming for that for...
But it doesn't look like he played particularly...
2332 for 207.
It was one of those games where the Panthers weren't pushing them at all.
So, I mean, they've had these jailbreak game scripts the last, you know, the first three weeks.
They fell behind by two scores, basically in the first quarter of all three games.
So this was actually a game where they played with a lead for most of the second half
and were able to, you know, actually use their running game.
And so, I mean, Hollywood is looking good, though.
I hope people didn't panic.
After the first week or two, you know, Park, he's looking good here.
I know DeAndre Hopkins will be back in two more weeks, but Hollywood is,
and he's looking like a high-end wide receiver two at this point.
Yeah, let's go now to, what do we got next?
Oh, New England and Green Bay.
This is a weird one.
Okay.
Yeah, Bailey Zappy had to play.
Brian Hoyer picked up a concussion pretty early in the game.
and was out.
Hey, it looks like Zappy did himself a decent job.
Yeah, he played fairly well.
Obviously, it was a pretty, pretty, you know,
they weren't doing anything too exotic.
There was a lot of turning and handing the ball
to Damien Harris and Remandre Stevenson
and letting them do most of the work.
But, I mean, it's looking like he's probably
going to have to start another game here.
I mean, I have a tough time seeing Mac Jones
after the way he was.
Well, they're apparently.
optimistic, but I wonder if they're forcing.
It's a Patriots. I mean, that's all bullshit.
Like, you saw him coming off the, I mean, the guy looked like he was about to be,
have his leg amputated. So, uh, I have a tough time believing Matt Jones will be back this
week. And, uh, although the line is suggesting maybe he does. I mean,
the Patriots are favored by two and a half points. So, uh, I guess also there's a chance
Brian Horgan play, but I don't know if he's going to be much of an upgrade over.
Bailey Zaffy, but, I mean, we're talking a lot about the Patriots here.
I don't think we really have anything to write up.
I mean, yeah, Paris got a touchdown.
Stevenson got the passing game work.
So kind of what we expected, right?
Yeah, check off those boxes and those receivers don't use any of them.
I mean, that's usually a good strategy.
Over to the Green Bay, again, Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon, both doing Aaron Jones and
AJ Dillon things.
Tom wrote, I didn't see the game.
game. So I don't know who Rogers Interception was on.
I don't remember that one play, actually.
Oh, yeah. But he dobs, oh, my God, he was so close to a second long touchdown in this one.
It was one of those where he had it and came to the ground and it jostled loose in the end zone.
So he made a spectacular effort to, yeah, it was a.
Oh, okay. So it was a good play that he almost even almost had it.
Yeah, it was so close. So, yeah.
It was one of those where you wouldn't...
I mean, a more veteran receiver probably makes the play.
You know, he uses more of his body to get underneath the ball
instead of letting the ball kind of come to the ground.
But it was a forgivable, you know, a drop, I guess we'll say,
in the end zone.
But 96% of the steps for him and Lazard.
I think we can do an up for both of these guys.
We've been wondering how this receiving depth chart
would kind of shake out.
Yeah.
I think it's pretty clear that both
L'Irard and Dubs are looking pretty good.
Lazzar goes for over 100.
Dubs catches another touchdown.
I mean,
so what you're saying to me, Tom,
is Romeo Dubs has clearly done enough
to earn Aaron Rogers' trust,
in your mind.
Oh, I think we're seeing it
just eight targets on, you know,
35 attempts for Rogers.
And he keeps making play.
And it was kind of a design shot play for him
and nearly came, you know,
it was a one-on-one-one,
coverage and he got he had a step or two on his defend on the defender was perfectly placed
ball so and i believe the touchdown might have been like a little i can't remember the
touchdown i think it was a little screen the four o'clock games i i can't watch as closely i
usually rely on you more for the the four o'clock games do that i'm usually right in the
the waiver wire but i think it was like a design screen or something you know it was a nice little
play where they were trying to get the ball in his hands.
So everything is pointing up for dubs.
I hope you listen to us in the summer or listen to us last week on the waiver
wire and we're able to snag him.
I mean, he's a guy you can use as your wide receiver three.
And, you know, he has upside to be a wide receiver too at some point this season.
Denver and Vegas.
This I do know about Tom.
You're not right.
Oh, Tavante.
I thought you were going to Russ.
But okay, yeah, Chavonte.
Do we get word this morning?
What the extent of the injury yet?
It doesn't look good.
That's what the fear is.
Yeah, that was the Rappaport,
the report last night that it could be a significant injury.
So, I mean, it looked innocent enough.
Oh, my God.
You know, usually those type of, you know,
it's a non-contact or you see a defender roll into the guys.
Roll up on them.
Yeah, it was kind of an innocent-looking play.
hopefully hopefully maybe by the time you're listening to this podcast we'll have final word but
hopefully we'll get maybe some news that maybe he can return at some point this this season but
the the initial reports seem kind of grim at this point uh what were you getting at with russell
wilson because again i didn't see this game no i thought he played a little bit better here
spreading the ball around the jerry duty and court and sultan so it's still not looking
Not looking great, but we got a Melvin Gordon here who keeps fumbling the ball.
Obviously, he has to be up.
But, yeah, like, Gordon, man, like, talking got right up like Boone on the waiver wire.
Oh, absolutely.
He's, he's a, I think if you're a Javante owner, I think he's a must pick up.
Gordon has, he's looked relatively fine, but, I mean, this is four fumbles in four games.
It's just careless ball handling.
I mean, if he continues to do this,
it wouldn't be stunning to see Mike Boone kind of take on a bigger role here.
So just sloppy play overall from Melvin Gordon's season.
And by the way, Gordon, Javante goes down.
I don't know when Javonte went down.
But Javent goes down.
Okay, yes, eight rushing yards.
Yeah, they were kind of playing from behind at that point.
But, yeah, it wasn't pretty.
Yeah.
Josh Jacobs, career high, snap.
Jesus Christ. I did not. I gave out an under on Carr, his passing yards, but I did not expect Josh Jacobs to have 28 carries in this game. I did not. That was not what I was anticipating with it.
Yeah. He's, I think he's looked pretty good this season. And there was a lot of concern that Zemir White was going to be a bigger factor here. Nope.
It really hasn't been that way. 89% of the snaps last week. They kind of wrote him last week, too.
two weeks ago, if I'm remembering correctly as well.
So Jacobs is another guy.
I wasn't, you know, I haven't been on him for years,
but he's looking pretty good here in the early going with how they're using him.
Tampa Bay in Kansas City.
Again, Tom, I was, I saw this game, but that's in the technical sense.
Yes, in an altered state of mind.
Yeah.
So, like, so Edwards, so I'm looking at,
Edward Tulare actually looked good.
Yeah.
I was stunned at how easily they were running ball against this defense.
I mean, it worked out the game script.
I mean, Rashad White fumbled on the first, the opening kickoff.
So it kind of threw game scripts out the window after that.
That always sends games into a tailspin.
But it worked out perfectly where he got a lot of carries and they were having success.
So he finally, you know, Andy finally beat out McKinnon for some snaps.
And it played out perfectly for him.
And he's playing well.
He's taking advantage of it.
You know, he actually got the targets down in the end zone this time.
McKinnon stole a touchdown off of him earlier.
This, I think that was in week two against the chargers.
But it's looking promising for Edwards-Layer.
You know, we'd still like to see him on the, you know, be a 65 to 70% of the snap kind of guy.
but I don't think that's the way Andy wants to do it.
But at the end of the day, he's still playing in Kansas City Chiefs offense with Patrick Mahomes.
So we'll take what we can get from him.
By the way, remember when Juju was the next Cooper Cup this year?
Yeah, right.
He's a scrub.
This is what he's going to do.
He's a five for 50.
He's a five for a three.
Yeah, he's a, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I hope he scores a touchdown.
He hasn't done that.
They need some speed on that offense.
You know, and you saw Stuy.
more going to get a little bit involved. By the way, I'm not telling you to go play Skymore.
I'm just saying like, you know, maybe as the weeks go on, there's something here.
Yeah, he was up to 22 snaps, 28% share. So that has to easily be a season high here for him.
Yeah, let's see. Yeah, Juju was down at 62%. So, yeah, it might be a, not, I don't think it's a changing of the guard, but they're rotating these. Yeah, you might even want to put Juju down.
I mean, that snapshot is a little concerning.
They're going to rotate these receivers even more than they previously have, potentially.
And then this is just easy for me, Tom.
Edwin's and Godwin up, Brady up.
Brady's got his weapons back.
Yeah, I totally agree.
I know a lot of people are probably freaking out about the Leonard Fournet,
three carries for negative three yards.
They were behind the whole game.
Yeah, exactly.
They were trailing by two or three touchdowns, basically the entire game.
I mean, teams have been really good.
I gave out the under on his prop at 65 and a half yards.
It was more because the chiefs have been really good against the run, too.
So, you know, the game script worked out for that.
But, you know, people are like, oh, I need to go get Rashad White.
I mean, just because they saw him play.
Yeah.
He played one drive in both halves.
And he scored the one touchdown.
But, yeah, this is, I mean, I know a lot of people are panicking about Brady.
And I still have my concern.
this offensive line is not good.
It's still pretty beat up.
But just getting Chris Godwin back in the middle of the field that he can get the ball out of
his hands quick.
And then when he does dial up a shot player two, you have Mike Evans deep.
So, you know, this offense is looking up.
I know they lost and the defense played very poorly against the Chiefs.
But if I was a buckingier fan, I'd be feeling, you know, pretty decent.
that our offense, you know, at least resembled a little bit of what we'd seen the first two years with Brady.
So I think overall it's some positive signs here for the offense that's been struggling through three weeks.
All right, Tom, I got to, I've got to send this out.
This podcast probably ran a little longer than I wanted it to because I've got a late checkout here, but I don't have much time.
So I've got to send you this file.
I'm going to send it to our guy Wagman because we need to get these games written up.
Tom, I'm going to send it over to you.
I'm going to send the podcast over to Ben Kucanus to post.
I commend you for being a trooper, getting your ass out of bed,
and talking a little football with me.
So, you know, you did a great job today.
It feels freaking awful, by the way.
Like this slate of NFL games happened, and I don't know what happened.
Like, it feels so bad.
But like, hey, you know, we got to do what we got to do.
I'll get this sent out to you.
By the way, thank you and thanks Sam Wagman for handling the lion's share of the market report today.
I really appreciate you guys doing that so I can actually travel back.
Tom, enjoy the Monday night game.
I'm thinking I should, barring disaster, I should be home for the Monday night game.
Well, there you go.
You'll get to watch like four out of the 16 games this week.
Just check off all the primetime games.
But hopefully we get a good one here with the Rams and 49ers, big NFC West showdown.
So thanks, Joe.
let's wrap this mother trucker up here.
Okay. For Tom, I'm Joe.
Thanks, everybody.
Have a great rest of the day.
And I will thankfully be on a relatively normal schedule this week.
Bye-bye, everybody.
