Starting point is 00:00:07 It's time to the Fantasy Points podcast brought to you by FantasyPoints.com. Top level fantasy football and NFL betting analysis from every perspective and angle. From numbers to the film room with a single goal to help you score more fantasy points. Stoke, Steve, we're here at the Fantasy Points WaverWire Podcast. I'm very sorry if I blew your ears out with that, by the way. I see my levels are high here. But hey, I'm stoked, baby. we got NLCS baseball, but most importantly, Tom, we've got week seven waiver wire here at
Starting point is 00:00:47 Fantasy Points.com. My name's Joe. He's Tom. And we're going to be discussing here. Tom, I guess one of the like potentially worst buy weeks in the history of fantasy football when you notice the four teams on buy here this week. Buffalo, the Rams, Minnesota and Philadelphia. I mean, I know the Rams are kind of down this year, but Cooper Cup's still the best player in all of fantasy. And then you've got three of the best teams in all of fantasy on by. This is going to be a week when a lot of teams are hurting for players. So we're going to do something a little differently this week, Tom. This was your suggestion. We're actually going to focus on quarterbacks and tight ends because there's a good chance you're missing your quarterback or tight end. And they're your most important player this week.
Starting point is 00:01:35 Yeah, just when you think it can't get any worse, I know the scoring is down. like four or five points across the league compared to last year. We're coming off a Monday night game where we just traded punts for basically the last half of the game and it took a buffed punt to actually for a team to actually score to win that game. And then we're going to get a couple of the best teams that's scoring out of the mix here. As you said, the bills, the Eagles, the Vikings. The Rams not so much, but they do have a guy Cooper Cup who's pretty valuable.
Starting point is 00:02:09 for fantasy the last time I checked. So we got those four teams out of the mix this week. And a couple, it was a pretty light week with injuries, thankfully. But there was one big one with Marquise Brown. J.K. Dobbins, we're keeping an eye on that. I think that might be more performance. They're looking to, they said his knee tightened up, but I think he just stunk and they were looking for an excuse for him.
Starting point is 00:02:35 Quarterback, we got Kenny Pickett, suffered a concussion. Carson Wentz will be out for the next four to six weeks with a finger injury. I think most people were probably going to drop him to the waiver wire anyway after a lot of people used him on Thursday night football. And the last big injury was at the tight end position, Cambray, had to be stretched off, suffered a neck and probably another concussion injury. So I wouldn't expect to see him for a while. So this is a tough week here. We're heading into, we're probably going to have a lot.
Starting point is 00:03:09 a lot of scores sub 100 maybe this week in your fantasy legs, depending on your scoring, of course. Well, we are going to pay- Sorry, Tom. Sorry for cutting you off. We are going to pay more attention to quarterbacks and tight ends here, but I really do think we should talk about the Cardinals' wide receiver situation. I think from a fantasy perspective, it is like the biggest piece of news there is now. Yeah, we can touch on that too, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:34 DeAndre Hopkins is activated now. My guess is DeAndre Hopkins is not available in your. Fantasy League, okay? Like, I mean, maybe there's a league with short benches where everybody just forgot about him. Um, but my guess is he is not available. But they trade for Robbie Anderson, Tom. Marquise Brown is going to be out for, it looks like at least a month here, which is a shame because he was the overall wide receiver six. The question I have for you, T, bro, I, I mean, Robbie Anderson's got more value now than he had in Carolina. We know that. But is he worth a speculative ad to you? I mean, at all? Yeah. I mean, if I had Marquise Brose
Starting point is 00:04:09 maybe I'd look to pick him up. But, I mean, it's been a while since he's been relevant. Kyler Murray, I mean, he's not playing particularly well, but they do throw it a lot. The offense should suit him a little bit better. Well, I mean, I don't know what the Panthers had been running the last couple years under Matt Roll since they fired Joe Brady. But at least they're going to be thrown a lot. I would have, the problem is with Robbie. it's probably going to be slow.
Starting point is 00:04:41 You know, they need them, but, you know, they're probably going to play AJ Green over them for the, you know, AJ Green's still probably going to see most of the snaps for the first, you know, two to three weeks until Robbie Anderson gets up to speed. So if you're looking for like immediate help, I would go to Ron Dale Moore if he's still in your league. He's getting close to that 50% mark where we knock him off a waiver wire. But he's still at 46% posted back-to-back, you know,
Starting point is 00:05:09 It's all PPR with him. It's all catches, not a lot of yardage. So I guess Robbie's a speculative of that. You know, maybe he can piece it together out in Arizona. But I would not expect immediate dividends for, you know, Anderson if you're looking to plug him in for Hollywood right away. Yeah. So let's now go to those quarterbacks that you were talking about because there is
Starting point is 00:05:31 going to be a lot of people streaming this week. Tom, I'm expecting a lot of quarterback questions in our discord. Well, I have Hertz. I have Allen, you know. Yeah. I have cousins. And I mean, the problem with this is like there's guys like freaking Mariotta. I picked up Marioada in the Flex leagues where, you know, I've been streaming since I lost
Starting point is 00:05:50 Dak Prescott in week one. And Mario, if he's out your waiver wire, pick him up. He's the priority, Dak Prescott. It looks like he's going to go out. Well, yeah, for sure. I don't want to marry him there. He has been dropped a lot. But anyway, you can continue there.
Starting point is 00:06:04 Yeah, but, you know, I lost Dak and I've been going with Mario, and Marriota's garbage for two straight weeks. And I'm like, screw this. I'm using Zach Wilson this week. And I put Marioad on my bench. And then Marriota goes off. And it's really been rough out there, Tom. So let's examine who some of the options are.
Starting point is 00:06:22 Now, San Francisco does not want to be playing from behind. That is not San Francisco's Emma. We saw what they did last week. Yep. But when San Francisco does play from behind, they got great receivers. And Jimmy Garoppolo can put up numbers. Lo and behold here, Tom. they're playing Kansas City this week.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Yeah, he's the top priority. He is already, he's right around that 40% mark. So he's probably not out there in a lot of leagues, but he's the top play. He did, his fantasy points did talk. He reached a new top. They've actually risen in each of his starts. So he was close to 19 fantasy points last week when they actually played from behind. He did get a little sloppy, which Garoppolo is prone to do.
Starting point is 00:07:05 but that also probably helped pat his stats because he was up over 40 attempts, close to 300 yards in the game. So as we've seen here, the defense for the 49ers is a little bit banged up. They were playing at a pretty elite level through the first five weeks of the season, but they were down to just four defensive starters left in the game at the end of that Falcons loss. So defense isn't quite what it is. We know the chiefs can put up some points. So it's one of the higher totals on the board here. So I think Jimmy G is probably the top ad just because there is some shootout possibility.
Starting point is 00:07:46 And we can touch on Mariotta. That's another very high total on the board. That's sitting at 48 points. Well, the Cincinnati game. Yes, with Cincinnati. Mariotta, you know, as you said, he burned a lot of people. So he's out there 86% of it. leagues right now. It all comes down to if he runs or not, though. I mean, 14 attempts last week.
Starting point is 00:08:12 They were just running the ball pretty much at will on the San Francisco 49ers. So it's all going to come down to his legs if he's going to come through for you. But at least there's a high total. And there's a chance that they have to throw a little bit more. This is a game where there's a spread of six to seven points. So they could be playing from behind. Maybe that makes him have to put it up a little bit more. So I think he's one of the top ads. And, you know, going down the list here, Daniel Jones, he's been, he's another guy
Starting point is 00:08:45 that really counts on his running. He didn't run a lot last week, which ended up burning him. But he's been, they've been using his legs quite a bit. The problem with this one is any Giants game. It's a low total. It's sitting at 42 to 43 points. But he did get Wondale Robinson back last week. I would expect his snaps to grow in the future.
Starting point is 00:09:06 But there's not a whole lot of options out there in the waiver wire. And it's mostly looking at these guys with some legs. Justin Fields is trending up slightly here. He's at least running a little bit. They do have the Patriots, though. I could see that one being... Oh, he's going to get... Yeah, I know.
Starting point is 00:09:26 I could see him... I could see the bear struggling to get more than 10 points in that game. So not a whole lot of great options. I think the clear top is Jimmy Garoppolo and Marriota this week. And if you have to dig a little deeper, maybe Daniel Jones. But it's pretty tough out there right now. By the way, New England and Dallas the next two weeks for Justin Fields. Not exactly the kind of matchups that I want to be chasing.
Starting point is 00:09:51 Here's one, Tom, for those especially in Super Flex leagues, Hospital All Heineke. He's back. It looks like he's going to be playing here. And here is the thing where I would worry about Carson Wentz, if I have Wentz in like a Super Flex League. They're two and four, right? They're buried in the NFC East. They're absolutely, they're bare.
Starting point is 00:10:11 I mean, the Giants are 5'1, the Eagles are 6 and 0, the Cowboys are 4 and 2. They've lost to the Cowboys. So you're essentially three games back of Dallas. Okay, so if Heineke comes in here, let's just say Wenz is supposed to miss four to six weeks. Let's just say Heineke keeps them afloat and they're five and six. by the time Wence is ready to come back. Why would they put Wence back in the lineup? If Hineke's like, hey, you know, he's steadied the ship.
Starting point is 00:10:38 On the other side, let's say Hineke's a disaster, and they're 3 in 8 or 3 and 9 by the time Wence is ready to come back. Why don't you just go to Sam Hal at that point? I feel like it might be over for Wence. Yeah, there's a chance. I don't know what his contract situation is, too, but I think for sure we're going to see some Sam Howell at some point this season. It just depends on how quickly it happens.
Starting point is 00:11:03 They're five-point underdogs this week to Green Bay. If Heineke, as he said, if he could string together a couple wins, I think they'd probably stick with them. And it's been trending south for a while here. He does have some weapons. I'm not dying to go there this week, though. Oh, no, no, no, no. No, yeah, he's just, you know, that's a deep, you know, two-cubey league.
Starting point is 00:11:26 you got you just want that super flex maybe you maybe you chase it there but uh you know long term he's he's not the solution for your fantasy team uh and by the way it wents his contract situation they can get out of it after this year with no no oh okay so yeah like no damage at all they will certainly uh give sam how i'll look later in the season yeah wens is gonna get cut and like i don't i mean who knows what his career looks like that's a that's an entire other podcast That's a podcast series. What happened to Carson Wentz? And I'll actually, I would listen to that series.
Starting point is 00:12:00 I know you would, Joe. You've chronicled it from the beginning. It's been a lot of peaks and valleys. But enough about Carson Wentz on this way of work. Any interest in Zappy? I mean, the problem with that is they play Monday night, and they've been taking Mac Jones down to the wire here, and this is the week we all thought maybe Mac Jones would play.
Starting point is 00:12:25 So we might not know who the story. starting quarterback in that game is until Monday at about 5 p.m. whenever Adam Schaefter drops a report on NFL live. So, yeah, I mean, I do like it in theory, but maybe you might have to have a backup plan with
Starting point is 00:12:41 Justin Fields or Mac Jones in that game. Yeah, by the way, I think they're just, I think Bill's going to roll with Zappi until Zappi has a Cooper Rush moment, by the way. I totally agree with you. It's, they've, it's a good kind of QB controversy. He's He's playing well. At the very least,
Starting point is 00:12:59 Matt Jones has to show that he's completely healthy again before Zappy gives up that job. He's played well enough. I mean, it has been a perfect situation. You know, there's a lot of short throws. They're dominating again with their running game. Defense looks back to previous levels, but there's no doubt that he's managed the team very well in his first two starts.
Starting point is 00:13:20 Some good tight ends are on by this week as well. Dallas Goddard's on by. Irv Smith's on by. or Higby's on by. Dawson Knox, I mean, he scored a touchdown. He's on by. Tom, there are a couple options out there. It's brutal out there, Joe.
Starting point is 00:13:34 It is brutal out there. But the one top option out there that really stands out to me is Big Bob Tunyon of the Packers, who's basically like the only receiver. I think it's good. Dolcitch after last night. Oh, okay. All right, right, right. Let's throw that out there.
Starting point is 00:13:47 Yeah, Dolcich is the must add. He's everywhere. Pick him up. Alberto is completely dead. He was inactive last night. They bench freaking Eric Sobert, who was catching passes. You know, he had like six or seven catches on that Thursday night game. Dulcich comes in right away, shows his vertical ability, gets downfield, makes a big catch, scores the only touchdown of the day for the Broncos.
Starting point is 00:14:15 Kind of quiet after that, but he was around 70% of the snaps was on the field, basically in all their passing situations and in three wide receiver sets. So he's the clear must add. We put them up, we've had them up high on the waiver wire. The last, you know, hey, go at him in deeper leagues. And it looks like he should be added in all formats right now, especially this week. I think he should be, he's like probably the top ad off the waiver wire right now. I mean, Wondale Robinson's probably out there in some legs.
Starting point is 00:14:48 He probably can help you a little bit more at receiver. But if you've been searching for any kind of help at tight end, needs to be added everywhere. Yeah. Big Bob Tunyon, by the way, is kind of like, I think he's the, maybe the Tyler Higbee-ish type of guy. Not a lot of huge value targets, but a lot of targets is potential. He's coming off a season high snapshot. Now, the backers were playing from behind. They had a lot of injuries at receiver, too. That was the other thing. So there was, there was a confluence of some events that really helped him get there. But, I mean, they're looking for anything right now. He's have a bigger role. He's owned in about 42% of leagues right now. So he's owned in deeper formats,
Starting point is 00:15:31 but he should be out there. I would think that his rule continues to grow here. It's been kind of quiet for the first four or five weeks. He's been getting targets, but hasn't really done much. But Week six was the first sign that he might be getting back to his previous levels when he was a tight end won top 12 tight end in 2020 when he was scoring a lot. He was scoring a lot. a lot of touchdowns and a very efficient player. We didn't know if it was sustainable, but maybe he's getting back to those previous levels we saw in 2020. Anything else here at tight end that?
Starting point is 00:16:07 This is the rookie tight end fan waiver wire this week. I mean, go out and get Dulcich. Go get Kate Otten, who's going to be Tom Brady's guy here. I mean, I think that, you know, that was a scary scene. I was watching that game live with Cam. Bray, I would be surprised if we see him for a while. Otten came in and had six for 43 in week five whenever Brate missed that week with a concussion.
Starting point is 00:16:37 So he could be, it might only be a couple weeks, but if he goes out there and plays like he did in week five, and we know Brady, I mean, grok all the years, Cam Brate's flash some here and his opportunities. You want tight ends tied to Tom Brady. Kate Otten, I think he's right behind Greg Dolsitch this week. And the other guy was Dan Bellinger. His snaps were way up this week.
Starting point is 00:17:04 He was on the field for 60 to 64. We touched on how the Giants need help at receiver. They have nothing right now. Bellinger's been making plays every week. He's been hanging around here. And I think that he got a little bit of a promotion last week. So if me, I mean, if Tonian's gone, even if he is, there. I think I want these rookie tight ends a little bit more. I think this is the week of the
Starting point is 00:17:28 rookie tight ends on the waiver wire. Hey, um, I got a good one for you. What's that? A tight end here? You don't even have them on the article. I don't, I don't mean to call you out. Dalton Schultz tweaked his knee in the Cowboys like walk through on Saturday. They've been trying, the Cowboys are, they've been a little smarter with injuries than like Jerry Jones's comments let on. Um, but it, feels like they were dumb with Schultz. Like they kind of rushed him back out there for no reason whatsoever. He hasn't caught a pass since week two. He's missed two of the last four games. He might miss another one. We know he's Dak Prescott's safety blanket. But Jake Ferguson scored a touchdown against the Eagles, made a defender miss. There's another rookie tight end who
Starting point is 00:18:14 Dak Prescott comes back. What if, you know, Schultz re-agravated that injury? He's a free agent after this year. He's on the franchise tag. You know, there's no long-term commitment to Dalton Shultz here, you know, maybe he's a guy who makes some noise down the stretch here. Yeah, I mean, certainly keep an eye on him. As soon as Schultz is healthy, though, he's going to be back to being the guy. Oh, I would think so, yes. And you also have to wonder a little bit of that backup mojo with Cooper Rush, but certainly he has made a couple plays.
Starting point is 00:18:46 The thing is, I don't know, I don't have the snaps in front of me. Hender shot from Indiana was playing quite a bit as well. So it was a bit of a bit of a rotation, but Ferguson did score the touchdown. So we've seen Dak. They're kind of searching right now. Yeah, I got the snaps now. Ferguson was at 51% of the snaps. So he was a part-time player.
Starting point is 00:19:10 I don't know if I personally would go there. But I would certainly prioritize the rookie tight ends in front. And they're widely available. They're like less than all of them are sitting around two or one percent. own. So I would prioritize the rookie tight ends just because I think they have more long-term potential. But certainly if you're in a deeper, you know, 14, 16 team league and need some, or you're in a tight end premium type of format. Jake Ferguson could be a guy here the next couple weeks. Go get Juan Dale Robinson. Go get him now. He's,
Starting point is 00:19:44 Tom, we've talked about him like for 20 consecutive weeks. I don't even want to go back into him really. I mean, we've been saying like, hey, stash him, stash him. He's going to play. lot. They got nobody. Contarious Tony doesn't want to play football. You know, Gulladay, you know, he's he's a bum. I mean, they got Richie Freaking James out there. Darius Slatons out back from the dead. So Wondell Robinson, he didn't actually play that much this week. So I'd have a tough, probably have a tough time putting them in the lineup this week. But as we said, there's a lot of guys that are out. Justin Jefferson's on by. Stefan Diggs is on by. Gabe Davis is on by. Gabe Davis is on
Starting point is 00:20:22 So you might have to. And I would think, you know, it was only on the field 14, 14 or 15 snaps in that game. But he was targeted four or five times, which is a great sign that when he was on the field, he was getting the ball. So I would expect those snaps to rise. It was a bit of a lengthy absence. So they didn't want to put too much on his plate. But I got to think that he's going to be kind of the key guy in this passing game moving forward.
Starting point is 00:20:48 I did just notice one thing Tom the the chiefs are moving around some cap space they restructured Travis Kelsey's deal now that could be innocuous but this is a team that could use a wide receiver we do know that they they've been rotating guys they don't really have a go-to guy O'Dell Beckham's rostered in only 18% of Yachtonleaks just throwing that out there yeah we did add him on the waiver wire last week it still sounds like he's targeting a mid-November return based on, you know, the reporting and just the recovery time. He injured it in the Super Bowl, typically nine-month recovery. But he's into the eighth month here of recovery.
Starting point is 00:21:35 So we saw Chris Godwin come back a little bit earlier than the nine months. We saw Michael Gallup come back a little bit earlier than nine months. So, you know, we could see some movement here in the near future. and I would think that he goes to an offense that, I mean, there's been speculation about Buffalo. Green Bay, you know, needs some help. The Rams, you know, that's still out there. Seems like he wants to go back there, but they've been playing some hardball with them. And maybe this Chief's team, as you said, if they're moving around some money,
Starting point is 00:22:08 maybe they're looking to make a move. Pretty underwhelming performance so far from the receivers besides Juju's play last week, where he slipped a couple of shitty tackles. So, I mean, that's been a group that's done really nothing to this point of the season. It's a Tuesday. That means Tom and I are going to be in our subscriber discord answer questions. We got to get one running back. We got to do the running back.
Starting point is 00:22:34 Like, don't, you can try the Kenyan Drake, but it doesn't that feel like a trap. Yeah, spin that freaking wheel. Yeah, we got Gus Edwards. We got Gus Edwards probably maybe coming back. soon Harbaugh said he's getting close. I would expect, you know, Justice Hill to potentially return this week. So I think Drake is probably going to be pretty, you know, might be the most popular ad on the waiver wire this week, probably on, you know, because I'm sure Yahoo's going to have them
Starting point is 00:23:03 real high and ESPN and all these. But doesn't that feel like that's going to be like a four-man backfield all season? You're not going to want to use any of them. It really feels that way that. It's Lamar and Andrews and Bateman and when he's. because they really need Bateman back, by the way, because their receivers freaking stink. But you're right.
Starting point is 00:23:20 I mean, it's worth a pickup of Edwards. And I'm not spending fab on Drake. I already made that mistake once this year. I'm not spending fab on him. But if he's out there, you know, and you can pick him up, fine, see what happens. He did have that good game. The other one, though, Tom, I'm sorry. Yeah, but this is the big one.
Starting point is 00:23:37 Running back. We've got to mention Kyron Williams. Yeah, he's, I think he's a must add in pretty much all leagues. He's only 8% added even after. you know, the news came out on Friday that Cam Acres will never, basically never play again for the Rams. He's had some disagreements or I don't know with Sean McVay. Ian Rappaport had the report Sunday morning where, you know, they've had philosophical and, you know, just personal differences. So there's, you know, Camakers is never playing against, probably never playing again for the Rams.
Starting point is 00:24:14 Darrell Henderson, we've seen it. It hasn't been great when he's just like the V guy. He's just like a slightly above average player. I'm not saying if Henderson's out in your waiver, why you shouldn't add him. But he's going to be the top option. But I would not be surprised if Kyrim Williams is the guy in this backfield at some point later in the season. The coaching staff freaking loves him, apparently. That was Adam Schaefter was basically dropping hints before the week one.
Starting point is 00:24:42 the NFL season opener and then Williams got hurt on literally the opening kickoff of the season, suffered a high ankle injury. So he's been out, but he could be back. They're on by this week, as we said. They'll be back week eight. It was basically a six to eight week injury. So he could be back activated. We saw Malcolm Brown last week, Joe.
Starting point is 00:25:04 Oh, my God. It looked like he put on about 20 more pounds than he already had. He looked like a dead fish out there flopping around seven carries for 15 yards. they don't need to be running like Malcolm Brown. So I would expect Kairn Williams to have a pretty significant role in this backfield in the near future. We're always concerned about these guys coming off high ankles. They don't typically perform at their previous levels. But this is a shot you should take just in case he gets back to full strength and is able to grab a big role of his back field.
Starting point is 00:25:37 Yeah, it's kind of funny. Like you were talking before the podcast, we started the podcast, about how like so few. NFL teams are actually playing well right now. And like the thing with the Rams, though, that this Kyron Williams thing maybe is like kind of emblematic of the Rams because, you know, Adam Schaefter, like you said, dropping hints that he's going to play a lot before even the opener and he gets hurt on the opening kickoff. And it's like the Rams have been literally playing from behind since the opening kickoff
Starting point is 00:26:01 of the season. Like they completely changed their plans. And I agree with you. Like, man, maybe they gives them a checkdown option out of the backfield. Yeah, that was. I can see that was Greg's Greg Hosell's comp for him was James White or an Austin Eccler in the pre-draft process. So, you know, maybe he's not like that, the, you know, pure runner. Maybe they give that to Henderson, but as we've seen, they can't run the ball.
Starting point is 00:26:27 They just lost Joe Noteboom to a torn Achilles. So this might be, you know, checkdown central here moving forward. We've seen Tyler Higby getting all these like low A dot targets in the offense. So maybe those start to become Kyron Williams's in the, in the, in the, future here. So he could, he could be a PPR gold type of guy here. Uh, all right, man. Uh, sorry, Tom. I, I, I, we always do like the Apple one more thing at the end of the podcast. Oh, yeah, yeah, I just want to make sure. Running back is always the, the position that everybody wants to hit on him. I just want to throw in there, like Kenyon, I know Kenyon Drake is probably going to be like the top
Starting point is 00:27:02 added guy this week. And, uh, maybe we'll be wrong about that one, but I just don't, I don't want to go down that late. I was already wrong on him once. I'm not going to be wrong on him again. Yeah. I already I already gave way too much. I already put way too much FAP. Oh, yeah. And like, it was like 12 bucks or something like that. Nothing that's going to hurt me, but like, you know, and then he,
Starting point is 00:27:24 that run game's been into that. I got to be honest, Tom, I am still freaking stunned that they did not invest in that position this offseason. And even even in a small way. They made a lot of weird decisions. They didn't invest in the receiver position. I mean, it, just totally bizarre decisions. And now they're paying the price.
Starting point is 00:27:45 They can't close out fourth quarter. They've blown three different, you know, they've had big leads in the fourth quarter in three different games and blown them. So sometimes it pays to have, you know, running backs don't matter until they do matter and you can't close out a game. So, I mean, the Baltimore Ravens are prime examples
