It's time for the Fantasy Points podcast brought to you by FantasyPoint.com.
Top level fantasy football and NFL betting analysis from every perspective and angle,
from numbers to the film room, with a single goal to help you score more fantasy points.
8. Market Report Recap here at FantasyPoint.com.
My name is Joe Dolan. His name is Tom Browley.
As we do every Monday morning, we go through the previous weekend,
meaning like yesterday, the games of a, and kind of try to analyze anything, trends, injuries,
mostly injuries, stuff like that, things that are changing throughout the NFL as we try to
help you adjust your fantasy football rosters, Tom, but I'll tell you, this is a bye week,
and you just got done telling me a buy week where there are only two teams off.
So we basically played a full slate of NFL games this week.
And you were done with your waiver wire article.
So for those of you who are familiar with fantasy points, our waiver wire article is obviously, for reasons that are for reasons that are self-evident, our most read article at the website.
And Tom, you write basically the meat and bones of that.
And then John Hanson goes in, tweaks it with his own personal preferences.
You got done with that article earlier this week than you have all season.
Oh, yeah.
I was doing the 1 p.m. games and that usually takes me to like, I start writing it like right at like three.
345, right when the games are starting to end.
And, yeah, I was done with the 1 p.m. games by like 6.30.
I'm usually done like around 7.30.
So not a whole lot of injuries.
Yeah, I also had to write up the 4 p.m. games after that.
But those ones actually had a little bit more meat to them than the 1 p.m. games.
But, yeah, it was a relatively clean week with injuries.
Cooper Cup had the little scare at the end of that game.
Looks like he's going to be okay.
but Devante Parker, I think, was like the big injury.
He got hurt on the first play of the game.
So other than that, I mean, it was a relatively clean week.
Knocking off wood here for Monday night,
but although we've already lost to Mar Chase for four to six weeks potentially.
But, yeah, it's a, hey, we actually got some points in some of these games, too, Joe.
How about that?
The teams can still score in the NFL.
That's interesting, isn't it?
Yeah, that was the early window had a lot of points.
And then the later window was not so much.
But, yeah, it was fun.
Paul and I were sitting here and said, hey, we got, we actually had a fun slate here.
Paul, I mean, Tom, but I also got freaking, let me tell you so.
Let's put it this way.
When you get three touchdowned by Christian McCaffrey in a league, or you get three
touchdown by Alvin Camarron in a league, or A.J. Brown.
Yeah, there was a lot.
A big scores of Deontay Foreman.
That's, there's where I'm getting to.
Oh, okay.
If I'm getting three touchdown by Alvin Camara, so be it.
Okay, I know, I've gotten six touchdown by Alvin Camara.
I know what's in the range of outcome.
When I get three touchdowns by Deontay Foreman in a league where I'm in seventh place and second in scoring,
that makes me want to quit fans.
Yeah.
I mean, that was the perfect, you know, run out for him in that game.
That was just a wild-ass game.
We'll get to that one here.
pretty soon.
Yeah, let's jump into the games here.
Yeah, let's start with Thursday night, Tom,
and you've already broken this game down for the market report,
and that's Baltimore and Tampa Bay,
and obviously the big scenario here is the Baltimore injuries.
Yeah, that was the main takeaway,
because Tampa Bay, it's, that's been,
it's kind of the same crap every week.
Fournette can't run with any success in recent weeks.
Brady needs 45 attempts to get to 300 yards,
and it's Evans and God.
Yeah, and they're nothing too new out of the Tampa Bay offense there.
But, yeah, we're watching a couple injuries coming out of a Thursday night game.
The big one is Mark Andrews, the, you know, right up there with Travis Kelsey is the tight-in one.
Rashad Bateman also, I mean, it's turning into a loss campaign for him.
Gus Edwards also picked up a hamstring injury.
So the interesting thing is they play the Saints on Monday night football this week.
And then they have their buy week.
So it's got to, it's going to be kind of a tough situation this week.
There's a chance that, you know, maybe all three of those injuries kind of go down to the wire,
but it's on Monday night football.
And we've seen the Ravens here be very cautious with Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins this August.
So they seem like a team that's probably going to lean towards the, let's be extra cautious.
Let's get these guys extra time to rest up.
and sitting through the byweek.
So we'll be watching, monitoring all three of those situations because, I mean,
that puts Isaiah Lakeley right at the top of the waiver wire.
And that puts Kenyon Drake right at the top of the waiver wire of both, you know,
Gus Edwards and Mark Andrews are unable to play this week.
Let's go to Denver and Jacksonville, which was the London game, Tom.
And I mean, Jacksonville's complete inability to get out of its own way is
just staggering to me.
Like, you ran into two teams here that can't get out of their own way, and Denver outplayed
Jacksonville, and after a horrible start to the game, Russell Wilson settled down a little bit.
Greg Dulchage can play, but one of my major takeaway, what the hell is up with Cortland Sutton?
Yeah, I think we'll be writing this up, but Judy's kind of become the number one receiver here.
Everybody was leaving them for dead the last couple of weeks.
You know, he got off to that slow start.
He picked up that injury, that rib shoulder thing or whatever it was.
Never really got much clarification on it.
But got hurt week two, was ineffective the next week.
But ever since then, he's been kind of the number one wide receiver here.
You know, he's been up over 50 yards in five straight games and scores the touchdown this week.
And you're right, though, the Dulcich.
I mean, their offense was really struggling through the first 30 minutes.
and that opening drive of the second half,
three big plays to Dulcich kind of kick-started the whole offense.
That's something to keep in mind moving forward.
Dulcich is still out there on 60% of legs for whatever reason.
We've been touting him here for a month here,
telling people to go pick him up.
He's a tight end one right now at this point.
And I think it's no coincidence that their offense got moving a little bit,
you know, as they featured him right out of the game.
gates there in the second half. It kind of, it just gave that offense some life that they didn't
have through the first 30 minutes. I mean, right now they have a two-man backfield with Latavius
Murray and Melvin Gordon. And I'm not really sure there's a rhyme or reason. It's just like
Latavius gets snaps and Melvin gets snaps. And if you play either one of them, you hope for a
touchdown. Fortunately, both of them scored in this game against Jacksonville. Now, flipping on over
to the Jacksonville side, Tom, I want to start. We don't really.
need analysis here. It's number one, we got our answer about Travis E.T.N. post James Robinson,
okay? He's a Velcroft. Yeah. That's it. Like, there's no, Jamichael Hayst, yeah,
Jamichael Hasty got, what, seven touches in this game for 10 yards. I mean, yeah, somebody's
going to get touches, okay? It's not going to be a McCaffrey situation. But Travis E.T.N. is looking
like, I mean, you want to talk league winner of league winner. And if the rest of this team can
get its head out of its ass, and we're now halfway through the season, so that becomes less and
less likely, then Travis E.TN is going to be in a lot of lineups in weeks 17 when teams are winning
fantasy football championships. Yeah, we lost Breece Hall recently, Devonte Williams earlier in the season,
but Etienne is looking like the next guy in line to kind of be a league winner.
79% of the snaps here.
As you said, hasty was at 22%.
Yeah, that's not nothing out of the ordinary there.
You got to mix somebody in,
and Snoop Connor only got a snap.
So he's not in the mix here.
I was interested to see if he maybe could sneak into the,
kind of like that James Robinson roll and maybe take carries away.
But now, this was all Etienne here, Belcal roll.
And they're going to need them.
This Trevor Lawrence is, he's on the struggle.
bus here recently. I got off to a solid looking start under Doug Peterson through the first
two, three weeks of the season. But five, five game losing streak, and a lot of it is on Trevor
Lawrence here. I mean, just, just that interception in the second quarter when they were up, I think
they're up 10-0 at that point. They could have just put the Broncos away. I mean, the Broncos can't
score any points. They get up by three scores at that point. That game is over. And he throws the
interception that Justin Simmons was kind of spied on there.
And that kind of swung the entire game there.
And so this offense is, you know, it's struggling with Lawrence kind of leading the offense.
So I think it's going to be on Travis Etienne quite a bit here moving forward until we get any signs of life here from Trevor Lawrence.
And I mean, Lawrence, Graham brought it up a couple of weeks ago when we were talking about him on the projection show.
and he's like, he thinks he's Jared Goff with long hair.
That's pretty good.
And I mean, like, now, I always go back to.
Yeah, you could be a good quarterback, but is he going to be that,
what we thought is the number one overall pick?
Well, I remember CoSell when Lawrence was coming out,
and CoSell thought he was the best quarterback in the draft,
and he thought he was a good prospect, maybe a very good prospect.
But he, CoSell said from day one he thought the generational stuff
and the comps to Andrew Locke were unfair.
Yeah, totally overblank.
Yeah, and he was hammering that again here recently on the matchup show that he just doesn't think he has quite the arm talent to make all the throws to the sideline down the field.
And, you know, mechanically, he's got that long delivery, that long, you know, that long step.
And, yeah, it's just not not adding up all right now.
I mean, I want to give him the benefit.
I mean, last year was a complete gong show.
But now the sample size is getting larger this year, and it keeps getting worse.
So that's never a good sign whenever, you know, as we get more games,
and he continues to play worse and worse.
Let's go to Carolina and Atlanta, let me just throw out the Mayacalpa.
I mean, I thought Deontay Foreman was going to be borderline useless.
I have been wrong.
He's played really well through two games.
And no Chuba Hubbard in this game, and they just kept giving him the ball.
And Atlanta could not freaking tackle him.
Look, I'm sorry.
I mean, I did not think, look, when they traded McCaffrey, did you want to pick him up?
Of course you did.
But like, I did not think he was going to be anywhere near this level of player, this level of a producer.
And, my, my bad, because, I mean, he obviously kicked my ass in a league this week.
But, I mean, Carolina's got some life here with PJ Walker.
But still, Carolina's a two-man fantasy show right now, Foreman and DJ Moore.
And at the very least, PJ Walker's given a guy.
you drafted in the third or fourth round some life for fantasy.
Yeah, I think that was part of the analysis.
We still told people, hey, go out and pick them up.
You don't know.
And it's kind of been a great runout for him.
PJ Walker has played much better than anticipated here the last two weeks.
And Chuba Hubber gets hurt.
And they didn't want to play the Blackshear kid behind them.
So this was the Foreman show.
It was a perfect runout.
We'll see if it keeps, I mean, this might be the week to sell a little bit high on them.
and Chuba Hubbard's ankle injury didn't seem to be too severe.
And he was kind of the guy before his little injury there in week seven.
You know, he was leading the snapshot and playing more in passing situations.
But the thing is, though, four minutes played really well.
I don't think, I think they got to keep riding his hot hand for the time being.
But, yeah, this is, I mean, for our purposes, it's working out pretty well.
This has been a bad offense, but at least we're getting two.
productive fantasy assets out of it now with Foreman and DJ Moore.
How about that throw, Joe?
Holy graham.
That was unbelievable.
67 yards through the air.
I saw the next gen, the next gen stat that that they've been tracking since 2016,
and there hasn't been a, you know, the total air yards, a completion that deep.
So just unbelievable.
And Patrick Mahomes was also on Twitter there last night saying it was the throw that
year hands down and hard to disagree, you know, even with all the the crap that happened afterward
with more taking the helmet off and kind of costing the victory. But that was a spectacular
play. Unbelievable. Anything from Atlanta that really stands out to you. Like, I just feel like
if we put Kyle Pitts up on the market report, then he's going to go back to three catches for
13 yards again next week. Like, I just, Tom, I don't know. I mean, Atlanta,
does not want to play in a game where there's 71 total points scored. And I know they won this one,
but Mario-Ota just doesn't do it for me. And I doubt he does it for you either. Now, if you
played them this week, you benefited from the, from the game environment. What's your take on Kyle
pitch? Should we write them up? Is that something that, I mean, he had nine targets, but he's had a
good, quote-unquote, target share all year. It's just that Marcus Mariotta sometimes throws 13 passes in a game
or losing. Yeah, I mean, I think we were at four or five straight weeks where he was at 14
completions, you know, or fewer until this week. And it was kind of, you know, we had overtime.
They were, they actually threw the ball when they were behind this week, which was a novel idea.
So we got up to 28 attempts. I mean, I think we probably have to do some small write-up just because
he's like, if not the most talked about, one of the most talked about players for what he had.
hasn't, hasn't done so far this year. So somebody asked in our discord this morning, like,
what are we doing with pits? He's like, should I, you know, stick with them or sell high?
I think this is probably a bit of a sell high moment. They've shown us from the jump here that
they want to run the ball. They're going to get Cordero Patterson probably back this week.
You know, this running game has been all right without him, but he certainly gives that offense some more
more juice here, so we probably need to do a Cordarral Patterson right on.
But, um, and, uh, Ritter is going to start at some point later this season, unless
the Falcons stay on this run and they keep pulling games up.
They're in the first place.
I know.
If they, yeah, isn't it ridiculous.
If the Panthers would have won that game, it would have been a, I believe, a three-way tie
for, uh, four-way tie.
Four-way tie.
Four-way tie, unbelievable.
But, yeah, if I had to say, yeah, I would probably sell high on pits here.
We're not expecting nine targets and five catches.
That hasn't been the norm so far this season.
The sample size is pretty large at this point that we know what they want to do on offense.
And it isn't necessary that they want to air it out like this every week.
We've got Chicago at Dallas, 49-29 in favor of Dallas.
I mean, Tony Pollard up, like, I mean, Zeke.
Jerry Jones, after the game, though, nothing's changed.
Nothing's changed in this backfield.
I don't know, I don't know, like, why it wouldn't.
I just, I don't know, man.
I, whatever.
Jared can say whatever he wants.
I mean, I can't imagine that he's,
Zieg's been, like, all right, let's grade him on a curve.
A good citizen there.
Like, he's been better this year, but no, I, Tony Pollard's now going over 30 fantasy
points in each of the two games in his career that he's played without Ezekiel Elliott.
I mean, that's, that's pretty good.
Justin Fields is waiver wire, right, Tom?
Yeah, this should be the last week.
he'll be waiver wire. I mean, hey, I'll give the kid credit. I mean, we were absolutely
burying him through three weeks this season. This was not an easy matchup at all against the Dallas
Cowboys defense. They've been stifling everybody and they go out and put out 29 points again after
running up, I think it was 33 points on the Patriots on Monday night football last week. So credit
where credit is due, he still has a long ways to go as a passer. But,
I think Mattie Bufluz and Luke Getsy, you know, they're rookie coaches.
They've adapted to what they've had.
They, you know, obviously, they didn't know what exactly how to use him and how to play.
And I think they've started to come into their own here a little bit.
And it's certainly helped out the rest of this offense.
We're getting several at least usable pieces next to Justin Fields after a pretty rough start for the first.
three or four weeks of the season. I'm going to move Khalil Herbert up. He just looks better than
David Montgomery. Montgomery lost the fumble in that. Not that it cost them the game,
but like it was another loss fumble, another mistake for him. Over to the Cowboys side,
here's, here's the thing. I mean, Dak Prescott was doing his taxes in the pocket. I mean,
the Bears just traded Robert Quinn. I mean, there was no resistance whatsoever from the Chicago
passers, but Prescott looked sharp. He threw a really bad interception at the end of the league,
really bad. But other than that, was sharp. He was running a little bit. Now, he's usable for fantasy
in a pretty big way. So I'm going to move Dak Prescott up here on the market report. Definitely
somebody who's now in the top 10 conversation going forward at the quarterback spot. Yeah. And, you know,
it was nice to see Dalton Schultz string together another good game here. So it looks like they have
their buy this week. So, you know, he should get a week to rest here. So he's, he's, he's
trending up in the second half of the season here as well after a pretty rough run out with
Cooper Rush and the knee injury. So God, that people drafted in the sixth, seventh round. He's,
he's starting to look like at least a serviceable, like low end, tight end one moving forward now.
Yeah. Right. And like Zeke again, like if Jerry's right about we're not changing anything,
well, now they're going on by this week. So they've got an opportunity to, uh, to rest them up.
All right, Miami and Detroit.
Miami's Miami.
I mean, I don't know.
I mean, two has got to go up.
It's great, man.
They just funnel all the passes to Tyreek and Jalen Wattle, too.
It is perfect.
It feels like, you know, I'm trying to think,
like back when Adam Thielen and Stefan Diggs were to go,
you know, all the pass is just,
it's like 50, 60% of the targets all go to these guys.
and they were just running loose that entire game against that Lions secondary.
It was easy pickings for Tua and the boys.
On the Lions, I'm going to move Tua up just because he looked good.
Now, this was a great matchup, let's think.
Not like, you know, the Steelers made Tua.
I mean, the Steelers dropped a few interceptions last week.
So against the tougher defense, it's not going to be as easy.
But, I mean, these are guys who are all weekly starters at this point.
You just got to, you play them, and you don't have to make a decision.
Like, I cannot believe how many questions we still get about Jalen Waddle in our Discord chat.
It's pretty, yeah, he's like a, he's a wide receiver one.
I mean, the way he gets volume and, I mean, how many touchdowns is he?
I don't have it off the top of my head, but he's got to have five or six touchdowns too.
So that's the only thing.
Tyreek is like heading towards, you know, potentially very special season.
Oh, he's not five.
Yeah, I was going to say.
And Hill's been kind of snake-bitten in the touchdown department, but he's like,
we're about halfway through the season.
He's kind of challenging the Cooper Cup numbers from last year.
It's been a special run for him.
On the Detroit side, I mean.
Hey, they got Almond Raw and Swift back.
I mean, they look like a totally different offense when they got.
They do.
It's just that Swift gets five carries, you know.
Ugh.
He's a good player, but Jamal Williams is closing in on go-away territory for me.
Like, it's like, because you know the next time you play them for fantasy, they're not, I swear to God, Detroit gets more situations where they're at the one yard line than any team in the NFL. Like, it's, it seems anecdotal, but I wonder if it's true. And then whenever they're at the freaking one, they put Jamal Williams in the game.
Yeah, it's super frustrating. I mean, I know Williams is leading the leg and rushing touchdowns. At least that was.
And that's his thing now, so they're going to keep doing that. Yeah, which is frustrating. But,
I mean, Swift at least still got the five catches and a touchdown.
You know, it was a long layoff.
He's trending up, but yeah, his ceiling is going to be capped here.
If Jamal Williams continues to see these shorty touchdowns,
eight of them already this season.
So, I mean, he's so frustrated.
I can't stand him.
To stealing all these touchdowns from D'Andre Swift here.
And, I mean, Swift got five.
Thank God he scored on.
that touchdown or else we'd be on that touchdown receptor or else we'd be like oh my god what's going
on i mean they probably were trying to be smart with them i get it but oh yeah i'm on raw he's back
though uh it's been a tough couple of weeks for him uh you know the the conchia where he got pulled
didn't have actually have the concussion but couldn't return to the game last week uh but he came
back and saw 10 targets uh a little disappointing with 69 receiving
yards on seven catches, but a strong bounceback performance for him after a tough couple of weeks
where he was pretty quiet and dealing with an ankle injury before their by week.
Arizona at Minnesota, I mean, I freaking love Minnesota. I don't have to say shit about
Minnesota any week unless somebody gets hurt. And nobody's gotten hurt. What did you say about him?
I did see R. Smith may have picked up a little something, but that doesn't really change anything.
It's the big two at receiver in Jefferson and Thielen.
And Dalvin Cook, you know, got a little bit of luck here this week.
I think that was one of the few complaints we've had about this offense is,
why can't we get Dalvin Cook involved in the passing game?
We're throwing it more.
It just seemed like a perfect setup this year where he was going to be much more involved as a receiver.
And out of the buy week, he gets six targets, five catches overall.
so maybe this is a start of a trend that he's going to be more involved in the passing game now.
Cook up, passing it. Yep, okay, all right, that's fine.
Let's go, Arizona.
Hopkins, man.
I mean, crap.
This team stinks, man.
It does think.
But Hopkins is so good.
I mean, that touchdown catch, he just, you know, put his, you know, left mid up in the air and just yank that thing out of the sky.
I mean, it was.
It was tough first six weeks for anybody that probably drafted him, but I mean, he's a locked-in, quad-receiver one.
He's near the top of the position here moving forward.
He's just, he's the only thing this offense has.
Yeah, go ahead.
If I tried to catch that ball, I would look like JPP.
That thing would have ripped my hand off of my body.
That thing was fired.
Yeah, it was, Kyler's just not very good.
I mean, but he's, I think Arizona's the team we could.
It's the same stuff every week.
Kyler doesn't look very good, but the offense doesn't put him in a position to help.
And if they didn't have Hopkins, they'd have nothing.
Yeah, this offense, at least it has a little bit of a pulse now that Hopkins is there.
But, I mean, this running game, holy crap, 78 rushing yards on 22 carries.
And that was even, I think Minnesota lost Tomlinson pretty early in that game, if I remember correctly.
So one of their better run defenders.
So this is an ugly showing.
I mean, we'll see if James Connor is able to get back,
but he wasn't playing particularly well before his rib injury.
So this is going to be the same crap moving forward with Kyler running around
and looking for DeAndre Hopkins and hoping for the best.
I mean, there's not much rhyme or reason to anything they do on offense.
Vegas and New Orleans, what a freaking garbage game.
I mean, Derek Carr was atrocious.
What the hell, Devante Adams?
I guess the illness was
I mean affecting him
Like what do we even write about this team?
Like
Like was Devante sick?
I mean,
Carr was terrible.
You can't, you know, I'm done with Derek Carr.
And like, I hope John doesn't listen to this.
The next time he tries to talk us him to Derek Carr,
I'm telling him, though.
Like, it's not happening.
It's not happening.
I'm not letting you do it.
Like, it's just, it's not going to happen.
Hey, there's just something that goes wrong every year
with this freaking guy in this team.
Yeah, I thought this year's runout was a little bit better.
You get Devante Adams.
You have, you know, Renfro and Waller.
It looked like they were phasing out Josh Jacobs before the season.
And it's been a rough couple of weeks here, especially Josh Jacobs has been kind of the focal point of the offense here until this week.
And even he couldn't get going against a Saints run defense that's been beaten up a little bit this year.
It hasn't been their typical stout run defense.
this year. So, yeah, they got the Jaguars this week. Maybe it gets a little bit better, but
this team is pretty frustrating at this point. And I guess, I guess Adams must have been a little bit
more under the weather than maybe reported there.
Well, I mean, this is pathetic. Like, I mean, yeah, let's get Mack Hollins going. Like, I,
like, unbelievable. Just, I, I don't even want to talk about them anymore. New Orleans is another
team I hate because I'm tired of writing
like I do the news on the website I'm tired of
writing about Michael Thomas and Jarvis Landry.
Yeah we don't let's not write any
I feel like we've done blurbs on them
for the Margar report. Yeah and we're writing the same crap
like there's not we're not getting any information
like it doesn't look like either Landry
or Thomas is anywhere close to playing like
I'm tired of I'm tired of New Orleans
I got information from Schifter a couple weeks ago
that Michael Thomas was close to her return and
we're like three weeks later
I guess he's no I guess he's never
maybe he'll decide if he
wants to play at some point this season, but at least Kamara, hey.
Yeah, Taysam Hill, let somebody else score a touchdown for once.
Hey, I mean, Camara was one of the prime regression candidates here.
He has been playing really well the last couple of weeks, and the touchdowns finally
came in bunches here, one, two, three here, three touchdowns.
He scored all of them for the Saints.
So finally some bounce back here for Camaro.
Let's go now to
Let's go to
New England
New England and the Jets
I mean
Talk a turn game here
It was like both quarterbacks
Didn't want to win the game
Do we need to write Ramandre anymore?
No
He's the guy
He's the guy
I mean
He's kind of been
The number two in the passing game too
The last couple of weeks
High Myers, yep
Yeah
I mean nobody else is
taking a step forward here.
I still think Thornton is a pretty intriguing waiver wire guy.
I put him up high there just because he's kind of a full-time player at this point.
Now we got Devonthe Parker banged up.
Aguilar's playing, he played 24% of the snaps this week.
So he's well behind Thornton at this point.
But Mac Jones has got to play better.
I mean, this is pretty rough through the, I mean,
I don't think Zappi's special, but Mac Jones has not played nearly as well as he did for most of his rookie season.
This has been a bit of a step back here, and it's kind of dragging down the rest of this passing game right now.
I mean, they average 3.8 yards per play in this game and won it because Zach Wilson threw three of the most mind-numbing interceptions I've ever seen in my life.
A couple of the throwaway one was nice, tackling at that one.
That was outrageous.
I mean, he is so.
Honestly, I think he's fun to watch.
Because you never know what he's going to do.
Absolutely.
I know, I enjoy it.
I know how he calls him a tough watch, and I agree.
But I mean, it's got, this reminds me of another jet quarterback.
When Mark Sanchez was at the nodder of his career,
like you just never knew what you were going to get play to play from Sanchez.
And Zach Wilson's like that turned up to a million.
Oh, yeah.
It's like the train wreck where you don't want to look away.
You want to see what happens.
next and
well, you know, the Jets, you
got to give them credit. They're really
sticking it to Elijah Moore here.
Benching, oh, yeah.
So, yeah, sit one of your best receivers.
We're going to play Denzel Mims over you.
Oh, yeah. Big statement there.
You can't even throw the goddamn ball
with your quarterback here.
Maybe try to give them with some help, but
so stupid.
That really irritates me.
Anything with
Michael Carter,
do we care? I mean, what was the snap breakdown here? That's what I said. Yeah, I'll look at it up here.
I mean, I would expect Carter, yeah, 56% to 22% for James Robinson. Ty Johnson actually was-
I mean, Johnson played 32% so. Yeah, I think that will probably, I think James Robinson will continue to see this.
That's the thing, though, like, it's going to be worth of. They just traded Breece Hall and Michael Carter played only 56% of the snaps.
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's probably going to be close to a 50-50 split.
I bet James Robinson in the next week or two is kind of getting most of the, you know, that 12 carries per game, getting the early down work,
and then they'll kind of slide Michael Carter back into this passing down role, change a pace player.
So I just, I don't know if either of these guys are going to be even very valuable for fantasy.
I think they're going to be kind of flex guys at best.
Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, I mean, look, the Eagles were not a great matchup for anybody, okay?
But they're more susceptible on the ground than through the air.
And, I mean, there was one play where Najee Harris, and they actually ended up,
the Steelers ended up getting it to Najee on the next play on fourth down,
but it was like third and three, pick it through the ball to the left flat.
And if Noggi literally just put his foot in the ground and ran forward, he was getting on.
That third downplay, oh my God.
I stood up and yelled at my TV, go forward!
Like, I mean, it was like, it wasn't going to be a big play, Tom, but it was third and three.
If he put his foot in the ground, he was getting the first down.
Yeah.
I mean, he is not, does not look as agile as he did last year, but at the end of the day, I mean, remember that you're, what is he, about 6-1, 2.30, 235?
like, bowl the guy over.
You're playing out in the, you're on the perimeter.
It's a smaller quarterback on it.
Run them over and get the three yards.
So, please don't make me write up,
Naji Harris again. I don't want to write.
Oh, don't worry, Tom.
I'll write this game.
What's, oh, okay.
I mean, they're on by this week,
and Jalen Warren is outplaying.
I mean, I don't know.
I don't think it's going to change much.
But maybe it does a little bit out of buy.
The only thing, if Naji Harris was a second round pick or a third round pick,
I bet this would be closer to a 50-50 split, but Nogie Harris,
you know, they spent the first round pick on him last year,
and they're just continued to give him the benefit of doubt.
But Jalen Warren is, frankly, I mean,
Pittsburgh fans have seen this for the last month,
that he's playing better than Noggy Harris at this point.
Yeah, I mean, and I know there's a lot of talk in Pittsburgh about Canada.
right now.
Oh, yeah.
A lot of talk.
I don't, the Steelers aren't the type of organization to fire mid-season.
I bet they let him play it out.
And it's not like they have any great candidates behind him to really step up and take the job.
But I would be surprised.
I don't know the finishing date anymore for the season.
But right after week 18 is over, I would be surprised if Matt Canada has a job past that Monday evening.
Yeah, and I mean, I will say this.
about picking up that he's in the marker
he's a waiver guy you know like
I did see Pittsburgh you know media they're
like well Kenny didn't play well and I'm like you know
but there's there is a calmness
to his game that I just don't see
from a guy like from a guy like
Justin Fields or a guy like Zach Wilson
or Trevor Lawrence right there's a
there's a there's a lot
there's an element of he has a
clue out there to him yeah
I mean this this just needs
some better coaching around him and a
soros hell needs
better offensive line. I thought he was dead at one. It was like the first series of the game.
Oh, oh, Hassan Reddick. I thought he pancaked him. I thought he was, I thought there were like tire marks over him.
I mean, he just got leveled. I mean, oh, boy, that was ugly. But yeah, this, this passing game,
I mean, Pickens. We could have called that, Tom. We said it on the, I know there were some instances
where we did play Pickens, but against, against Slay and Bradbury, I mean, he had the,
The one?
Yeah, he had that one catch that should have been,
and then...
Tomlin didn't challenge it.
Tomlin uses the worst challenges of mankind,
and then one where it was a catch
and would have gone for a first down on a big play,
he doesn't challenge.
So, I mean, that was typical Mike Tomlin,
but here's what I'm going to say for Philadelphia.
Jalen Hurts is up because...
You know, Tom, in Philadelphia media,
when even when a team is,
you're feeling really good about a team,
the radio's got to find something to complain about.
So the big thing in recent weeks,
number one is,
oh, Eagles aren't putting teams away in the second half, okay?
Which there was at least some validity to that.
Number two, Jalen Hurst runs too many touchdowns.
He doesn't throw enough touchdowns.
Well, what does he do in this game?
He throws for forwarding runs two times for 10 yards.
There we go.
I mean, there's a guy playing really good football.
He played quarterback this week, not running back.
But, yeah, Jail, I mean,
he can beat you in,
in many ways.
That was...
He did Brown's pretty good too, isn't he?
Oh, my God.
And then, I will say this.
That was unfair.
That one, that deep pass over the middle, Minka Fitzpatrick.
I mean, he just went up and took it away from him.
So Minka was sick of it.
Was he just, like, frustrated?
Is that what...
I think he was pissed in himself for not being more aggressive.
I mean, that was a...
He could have made a play on that deep ball, but...
The other two touchdowns, forget about it.
They were perfect throws.
I mean, that one, the first one,
was just let a player go up and get the ball. I mean, and he did, and he did it against arguably
the best safety in the league. So, I mean, this is a team that can beat you in a lot of ways.
I mean, that was a complete performance. Yeah, and that was, yeah, as you said, they did it for
four quarters here. So I have them minus 13 against the Texans this week, which is our next game
we'll talk about. So hopefully they play another complete game on Thursday night.
I think Derek Henry
running for 200 yards in four straight games against the Texans
is one of the most hilarious stats I have ever heard in my entire life.
Like, if you're a Texan fan,
you must dread every single time the Titans are on the schedule.
Oh, God, we're going to get run over by Derek Henry again,
and lo and behold, it happens.
I mean, Tom, this is one of the prop bets that I got cleaned out on.
Oh, Blake Willis?
What that?
If you told me that the Tennessee.
Titans were going to run for 314 yards in this game. How many yards do you think Malik Willis would
have had if I told you that before the game? Yeah, I would have guessed like 97. Yeah. 13 yards from
I mean, that was, I mean, that was the ideal setup for for Willis, I guess. They were like,
all right, we're going to just hand it to Derek Henry on every play and you literally don't have to do
anything. And he basically did that 10 passing attempts for 55 yards and five carries for 12 yards.
I mean, talk about just one man.
It was a one-man show tonight.
Today.
And I mean, let's look.
And Willis threw a bad pick, and then that probably even bottled them up even more.
Like, you know, not that that that wasn't their game plan, but, like, Willis threw a bad pick, and they're like, we're not even going to give this guy a chance to scramble.
We're just going to hand it to Henry.
And it worked.
I mean, it worked.
I mean, yeah.
The Texans had no answer.
They could have put, like, 15 guys on the field, and they might not have slowed them down.
I mean, Henry is just on.
Every year.
I'm like, oh, this is the year. I'm not drafting Derek Henry, and every year makes me look stupid.
Yeah. It looked like it after the first two games there is like, oh, you know, he's struggling, their offenses can't move the ball.
And, nah, it just turned out they played a Giants team that's much better than anybody anticipated.
And then a Bill's team that looks like an absolute juggernaut.
Once they got to the easy part of their schedule, it's been the Derek Henry show every week.
once and the Texans here, I mean,
Dame Pierce, here's the thing I love about Dame Pierce though.
I mean, he's doing nothing that entire game and he's playing on that final drive
and he gets the garbage time touchdown.
He's their only player.
I'm not sure how it's going to work against Philadelphia because, I mean, Tom,
it might be, if the Texans trade Brandon Cooks this week,
and I'm going to put Cooks on watch,
if they trade Brandon Cooks this week,
not that they're going to be able to throw the ball
against the Eagles anyway.
This might,
the Eagles might be able to, like, play
four quarters of football
and then just let the Texans keep playing.
It might take a week and a half for the Texans to catch up.
Well, that's what,
the Texans were at 71 yards on 39 plays
before the final drive, you know,
where it was all garts.
garbage time, a couple big plays to Brandon Cooks and a couple of catches to Damien Pierce,
but they were at 71.8 yards per play against the Titans for basically the first 56 or 57 minutes
of that game, and then they got the garbage time touchdown. Thank you. We appreciate it. Your service
there, Damien Pierce. It was not a great game with just 51 yards, but you got the touchdown,
got the three catches at the end to at least make your fantasy performance, at least on RB2,
of performance with basically 13 points there.
Can we get Brandon Cooks to like a contending team?
Like, I would get them sick.
I mean, I don't think the, you know, the Detroit Lions are going to trade for cooks.
So, you know, hey, Aaron Rogers would like a little help.
There's certainly some other destinations that can really use them.
Well, I don't know if they'll trade them in division.
How about the team on the opposite side of the football?
Yeah, they don't want to throw the football.
though.
But yeah, I mean, we'll see.
I mean, it seems like there is a lot of smoke there.
It makes a lot of sense for them to, you know, get to something and get a, get a third.
Even if it's a third round pick, just get something for them.
I mean, you're right.
You're not, you're not, you're not in the business of, if you're the Texans of, of
haggling overpric.
You need picks.
And it helps you, you know, get to the bottom of the standings.
well, they are already there, but it helps you to stay at the bottom of the standings whenever
you get rid of one of your better players. So it's a two-fold. It helps in multiple ways there.
Hospital Ball Heineke is a winner. And I got to be honest, the way they're using Antonio Gibson is smart.
I love it. Yeah, like he's, I mean, he's, they're using them in the passing game. All right. So he's not a great runner.
Where does he win?
Where does he help our team?
And if there is a spot where he doesn't, you put him on the bench.
If there's a spot where he does, you put him in that situation.
And that's what the commanders and Ron Rivera are doing right now.
The vibe around the commanders is different with hospital ball out there.
And I know he makes mistakes, Tom.
And there's going to be probably some games where he looks hilariously bad.
But he goes out there and he tries to make plays.
Yeah, the only thing is, I just, can we just get?
Jady McKissick out of the mix here.
I mean, that's another guy.
I would love to see it.
I don't think it's going to happen, but go trade him to, I mean,
it was the Buffalo Bills.
It would have made sense since they went after him,
but James Cook looked pretty good.
James Cook's starting to look pretty good.
Yeah, but I mean, that would be spectacular.
So we could have two pieces where we could, you know, rely on.
Brian Robinson just, it was rough here, eight carries for 20 yards,
uh, snap share down at 25 or 26 percent.
I mean, that's the worry with Robinson.
If he's not getting it going on the ground,
he's a zero in the passing game.
He's got to score.
But we love what we're seeing out of Gibson.
This is what we envisioned for him.
This is why we've been so high on
because he has that dull threatability
as a receiver and as a runner.
This is exactly what we want to see.
So it seems like they're scheming things for him, too.
I mean, that was a plan.
right from the get-go here to get him the ball out in space and let him make plays.
So this feels, it's going to be a little hit and miss.
It could be a little volatile since we have three backs here,
but this is the kind of rule that we always wanted for Gibson.
And on Indianapolis's side, I'm not really sure how much there is to say.
I'll say this about Ellinger, like, at the very least he threw the ball to Pittman and Pierce.
At the very least, I will say on Paris Campbell, he looked like he was.
shot out of a cannon a couple of times.
He had a 28-yard run
and a 38-yard reception where he looked like
by far the fastest player on the field.
But we've got to watch Jonathan Taylor
because he had his ankle retaped.
Yeah, he's a down too.
I mean, they're giving carries the Naim Hines
on the goal line. He's on the field and he's
being used as the lead blocker.
He fumbles in that game.
This is just, and now we have
basically essentially a rookie quarterback.
I know it's a second year, but this is
a rookie quarterback, six-round pitch.
last year didn't play at all.
He's not going to, I mean, we've got no, one target, no catches.
He's been kind of lifted up a little bit by Matt Ryan target him the last couple of weeks,
but that's gone and it's probably going to be gone moving forward.
So Taylor is quickly going down as a colossal bust as a number one overall pick.
We'll get to that one here pretty soon.
Meanwhile, Christian McCaffrey, yeah, I think he's going to be all right in Sam.
Let's get to San Francisco. San Francisco and the Rams. McAfrey, I mean, he was their entire offense. I mean, just...
I can't believe people were like, oh, this is going to hurt his, you know, he's not going to catch as many balls. And it's like, no. I mean, he might not catch as many balls, but he's going to score a lot more touchdowns. He's going to be used in creative ways. And they're going to, I mean, he was right at 80% of the snaps here. He's already into that bell cow roll here. So they go into their bus.
I mean, he gets, you know, unfortunately we don't get to use him this week,
but Shanahan gets another week of installing more plays for him.
And McCaffrey, I mean, he's the number one player moving forward here.
It's not particularly close, in my opinion.
By the way, did you see the stat?
Apparently, in that game, Jimmy Garoppolo through his first ball of 30 or more air yards,
or completed his first ball of 30 or more air yards outside the numbers in a 49ers uniform
in that game, and so did Christian McCaffrey.
That's funny.
What was that big play to dwelly?
That was a great ball by McCaffrey.
I mean, that was letting perfectly.
Easy touchdown.
I mean, yeah, we'll get Debo back here in this offense.
Yeah, I have Debo as a watch because they're on by.
Yeah, I think that was kind of expected.
Like, hey, let's just get this guy an extra week of rest.
And they were able to get the win.
Yeah, this is McCaffrey.
To the moon, baby, with McAfrey.
Let's watch Cooper Cup on the other side.
And it seems like the intel that Darrell Henderson wasn't 100% was right.
It didn't really matter because not like Ronnie Rivers did anything.
I mean, yeah, we got right up this backfield.
But we're quickly approaching territory where none of these backs are going to be.
They're all going to be completely worthless.
They've got an offensive line that can't block.
you know, all the passes in this offense are governor to Cooper Cup.
I mean, this is just completely ugly for these backs.
We'll get Kyron Williams back this week.
Yeah, and that's the guy as like maybe they'll try something else with Williams, right?
Like, yeah, I mean, that's the guy I would take a shot on at this point.
But, I mean, there's even talking, I don't, you know, I don't think Cam Acres is going to have a role or much of a role moving forward.
but it seems like they softened a little bit out of their byweek that, you know, he'll be, he'll rejoin the team if he isn't moved.
So this backfield is just completely worthless now.
And Tyler Higby's come crashing back to Earth here the last two weeks.
Oh, he dropped that pass.
That could have been a big game.
Yeah.
He's been rough here.
He's not getting the same kind of product.
You know, he was living on catches.
And I think he has three catches in his last two games here.
So he's quickly, I've been saying on these, you know, these streams.
I think his best performances are probably in the past right now.
He was a guy that was probably a sell-high candidate after the first five or six weeks of the season.
Let's go into the Giants in Seattle.
This was an atrocious offensive performance by the Giants.
Like, really bad.
Yeah, it was tough to watch.
I mean, Coney-O Robinson can't even get targets.
Yeah, that was, I mean, Darius.
And by the way, Seattle's a good.
matchup too.
Yeah, that's exactly.
We thought there might be a little back and forth in this game.
I will give Seattle.
I mean,
I think Seattle's defense has improved at least a little bit here in recent weeks.
They're starting to play better.
But, I mean, this is still a matchup.
We want to target.
It was basically Darius Slayton and nothing else really working on offense for the Giants.
I mean, do we want to put Wondale down or watch, or is he still waiver?
He's like that 55% own weight.
I mean, I'm sorry, guys.
We called a lot of people to play Wondale.
I thought it was a great matchup,
and the Giants average 3.5 yards per play.
I mean, this was, in all the worst ways possible,
of vintage Giants performance.
Yeah, this is the 2021 Giants here,
not the current 2022, but yeah, I don't know.
This is a team that doesn't have much to write up, period.
Wondale's one of those fringe waiver wire guys,
who's probably going to be dropped to a lot of waiver wires,
and I'll probably have to write them up next week.
But because I'm sure he'll bounce back with like six catches for 60 yards next week.
Just like on the Seattle side, Lockett and Metcalf up.
I mean, it looks like these guys are dead and then they both come out and score.
Lockett should have scored twice.
Oh, man.
That's the thing like Lockett never drops.
I can't remember in my life Lockett dropping a ball like that.
He makes all those catches and, yeah, he just misjudged it a little bit and let it glance off his face mask there.
but still got the touchdown.
Gino, I mean, unbelievable.
This guy is just playing at a remarkable level.
And I'm sure you saw the shade.
Tyler Lockett, Mr. Quiet and unassuming.
Through it at Ross.
Through it at Ross.
I mean, when Tyler Walker, I mean, Richard Sherman, I mean,
it's not shocking whenever he throws shade at Russell Wilson.
But when Tyler Lockett does it,
that's all you need to know about Russell Wilson
when the walk at his attack of you.
Green Bay at Buffalo.
Hey, I mean,
Romeo Dobbs, man,
he essentially gets called out
by Aaron Rogers
and then comes out and makes a great catch.
Aaron Jones is awesome,
and the Packers still can't win a football game.
Of course, unfortunately for them,
they were playing Buffalo.
I would think if you were to get a couple of pops in Aaron Rogers,
he would probably tell you this game was a big step forward.
It was just the wrong opponent to have it against.
Yeah, it was still a weird game.
They were down three scores, and they're just, like, running the ball every play at the end of the third quarter, early fourth quarter.
Yeah, it was great numbers overall by Jones, but, I mean, if you ask Sean McDermott, like, yeah.
We wanted them to run the ball on all those plays at the end of the third quarter early fourth quarter.
I mean, yeah, we're playing a soft defense.
And so, I mean, I think we are seeing the Packers adjust here and give more of the backfield to Aaron Jones the last couple of weeks.
He was at a 67% snapshot this week.
So it's a, he's moving in the right direction.
But, I mean, some of that yardage is a little bit of full school.
But certainly moving in the right direction for Jones.
How about, I love Stefan Diggs just cooking up the secondary.
Meanwhile, they're shadowing Gabe Davis with Jaira Alexander.
Yeah, I mean, well, we do see this from time.
Bill Belichick always does, you know, that was his calling card,
put his best quarterback on the number two receiver and try to high, low, you know, the top receiver.
So it's not, not how to.
It did not work, though.
Diggs is simply a, he's, I put it in the, or game hubs and stuff,
but I think he only had one game where he had 100 yards at a touchdown.
last year. And I think he's already up to five of those this year with another 108 yards and a
touchdown this week. Unbelievable. He's, he looks fantastic. He's right up there with the Jefferson's
and the Cups. He's, he's right in the tier right below those guys. He's been fantastic this year.
There is a lot of guys on the up here, Tom, on this. It was a big up week for the market report.
I'm going to send out this out. You and our guy Sam Wagman will write this up. We'll get the article
out. By the time you listen to this, the article might be out. Maybe if you're an early
adopter to the podcast, it won't be out yet. But, well, because of this, you know what's in
the article. So maybe you don't even need to read the article. But if you want to reiterate what's
going on, we're going to have more like specific stats in the article. I hope everybody enjoys
that. Tom, you and I will be in Discord over the next couple of days answering waiver wire
questions. You and I are going to be back tomorrow morning with the Waverwire podcast, and it
doesn't sound like it's going to be too juicy of one, although there are six teams going
and buy this week. So there's
going to be a lot of skank in lineups.
You know, you might only need a half a cup of coffee for that
podcast. I mean, that might
set the world record for quickest
podcast of the year, but I think
we went like a half, we've gone a half an hour
the last couple of times, but
might be a quick cup of coffee for that one.
It's not a whole lot
out there to help out teams,
but that's usually a good thing.
That means there's, it was a pretty clean
week in terms of injuries, so
we'd much rather have that. We want
We want the best players out there, so not a whole lot of options out there to help your team,
but we'll still go through it.
We can sometimes find some guys.
We'll dig through there for you.
We'll find some guys.
