What is up, everyone? Welcome to the week 14 matchup points live stream here at
Fantasy Points.com. I'm John Hanson, Greg CoSell, and Adam Kaplan, in the house, so to speak.
We're ready to break it down here. We go through all the matchups, and we don't cover every single
player of note here, but we cover all the issues and the like, and we try and talk some matchups,
good plays, and all that good stuff. We'll start with the Thursday night game, of course,
the Rams and the Raiders
Adam injury-wise here
no Aaron Donald for the Rams
what else here
David Long he's a backup right
I know I think he plays a little bit here
and for the Raiders
no Rock Yacin so here's a starting
outside corner anything else Adam
yeah yeah Rock yeah scenes out
so Hobbs came off by art played last week
and it's
it's Josh Jacobs show and Adams
and that's pretty, I'm just sure if there anything.
Andrew Billings had been playing.
Oh, Jerry Tiller, by the way, he played his ass off.
I don't know if Greg saw the tape.
He played his ass off last week.
I'm really happy with him.
You know, no, I'm just talking about Raiders playing the way that Jerry Tiller
played last year.
Oh, no, I didn't see that.
I watched the Raiders off.
Oh, he was phenomenal.
Yeah.
Of course, he's playing against his former team.
You know how this guy's getting up for it.
Yeah, Greg, I know you watch that tape and, you know, all of us with the gift of sight,
I guess, know that Josh Jacobs is kicking ass right now,
but on film he probably looks better than even you could see, you know, by plain sight, right?
Yeah, I mean, the thing that they're doing, which is hard for defense is because not many people do this is they're playing with a fullback.
35% of his rushes this season, John, have come out of 21 personnel with a fallback on the field.
That's a really high percentage for a running game in today's NFL.
But Jacobs is running really, really well.
He has he's got sudden lateral quickness.
He's powerful.
Contact balance, finishing traits.
He looks really good running the football.
I mean, the offense is Jacobs and get the ball to Devante Adams.
And we will soon match up on Ramsey.
You know, last time they met last year, regular season, it was like 50% of the time.
Ramsey happened to be on Devante, maybe a little bit of traveling, but obviously not a lot because he was 50%.
but I do think that we need to get another receiver going here with the attention
that Adams will command and Ramsey there.
Greg, I mean, we're really down to Foster Moreau or Mac Hollins here,
but you kind of like Moreau.
I like it too.
They're taking shot plays to Moreau.
Yeah, I like Moreau.
And again, just, you know, I know I hate be laboring this point, John,
but the Rams play the second lowest percentage.
of man coverage in the national football league.
So Ramsey may line up over Adams at time.
Yeah, he's going to be on him a fair amount.
Right.
But he also plays in the slot a lot.
Right.
You know, so it's not, the point is, is Ramsey is not a matchup corner.
Right.
But he's on the field.
He's good.
He did a good job against him last time out.
He's not having a great year, by the way.
Right.
That's the other thing.
He's not having a great year.
He's giving up plays.
That is absolutely true.
No question about it.
Matt Collins,
another guy there, Adam.
And of course, I guess before we move on,
we would have to bring up the quarterback situation there for the ramps.
Yeah, so Mayfield will drafts.
It'll be no worse than the two.
You could actually start.
That's a good thing because I hate to see him undressed.
Yeah, what's true?
I like that.
That's a good one.
By the way, that's not bad for Greg.
For guys, no such a humor.
It was pretty good.
I'm told he will not play naked this week.
Yeah, right, exactly.
Yeah, so it's, I can't believe that they would actually start them.
It's the dumbest thing I've ever heard, but okay, okay.
Apparently Walford, they'll check him out pre-game, see how well.
Yeah, he's got the neck injury.
By the way, he's had this for multiple weeks.
There are a lot of neck injuries.
What do you hear what we got for the Giants game?
Where's Vitro Gama when you need him?
Ah, number 15.
Yeah, I think.
He was in a Super Bowl.
Yeah, it's seven and a Super Bowl.
Yeah.
I was rooting for him.
big time because at that point I was like nine years old and hey real quick name name the kicker
my cell name the kicker what kid their kicker yeah ram's when now or then no 79 see if you
remember the rams kicker and 79 i do not ralph bernerski no no because i have i think i'm not
positive it might have been frank corral the only reason why i know that because i had a friend of
mine was related to him it might be frank carral yeah yeah i remember him i just yeah yeah whether it was that
year.
I just remember my friend of mine to grow up somehow was like a distant relative.
I just thought it was ridiculous.
Anyway.
Oh, I definitely knew Rolf Bernerski was the Chargers because he was the famous,
uh,
Kellynne Winslow game and all that.
But I thought maybe,
maybe he was on the Rams.
Uh, any who,
um,
moving on to Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets.
Adam,
uh,
Maddie Milano out of practice.
Yep.
So far,
yep,
with this knee.
Is this a management thing or are we endangered?
Well, first of all,
it's a new injury.
so we don't know what the extent of it is.
And it comes to it out of tomorrow.
So we'll see if you, by the way, I know it,
it won't not matter if you didn't play the first matchup,
but you didn't have the quarterback ones.
Greg, if they don't have Matt Milano, I mean,
he's so damn good.
I'm not even sure which.
That's a little bit of an issue.
That's a little,
they'll play AJ Klein in his stead.
And, you know,
Klein is a veteran who at least knows how to play,
but Milano is a high level athlete for the position.
Like, what is he better at?
Stop of the runner in coverage.
You're more of a run stuffer, right?
No, he's a really good coverage player.
Yeah, that's the thing.
I don't even know, like, he's a really good coverage player.
He's a complete player.
One of the best, actually.
Yeah.
I mean, I think the Tremant Edmonds is more of a coverage guy there, right?
No, he's more of a run stopper.
Okay, well, I got an opposite then.
You have it backwards.
I do have it backwards.
But Matt Milana does everything.
Yeah.
No doubt about it.
How about Mikey White, Greg?
I know you watched that tape.
I did.
Yeah, I mean, sample size Mike, you got a little bit worse, but he's still pretty good.
You know what?
I'm really having a hard time with him because I kind of like what I see.
And again, I'm not ready to make any definitive judgment, but he's played well in his two
starts.
The one thing that really stands out is the ball comes out.
He does not get stuck in the pocket.
I thought as this week's game progressed, he got better.
He started off a little slowly and then made a big time throw late in the
second quarter to Garrett Wilson on the sideline, which was a big time throw.
And you could see that in the second half.
He started to feel a lot more comfortable.
But, you know, he doesn't get stuck.
He knows where to go with the football within the context of the offense.
And my guess is the receivers like running routes and playing with him.
Yeah.
Because the ball comes out.
Have you seen Tredavius White at all this year yet, Greg?
Or is it not enough snout?
I mean, I've seen him on tape, but I haven't studied them.
You know, let's put it this way.
I haven't noticed him one way or the other.
The first game, he only played 16 snaps, the first 16.
I think he played more this past week, but I wasn't studying him in detail.
I'm not sure if he's actually at him technically starting.
I guess he is, right?
I mean, with the snapage, did we call him a starter yet?
Who he talked about?
Tradavius.
Oh, yeah.
Well, because remember, they have the first.
He's pretty much because they have, they play Abe E.
I mean, not A, E.
Elam, Jayaeer Elam, who's
inactive, which is surprising.
Right, right, right.
Well, you know, they haven't been...
White has started both of the games the last two weeks, John.
Yeah.
Well, they haven't really been quite as good in the secondary this year.
It's a weird year.
I mean, White's been out.
Well, Hyde being out.
That hurts.
We can hide being out.
Right, right.
And no Von Miller.
That's big.
And no, Von Miller is a...
That absolutely positively helps Mike White.
And then Zonovan Knight, Adam, it looks like, I mean, for lack of a better comparison, he's Breece Hall for the rest of the way.
He should be, right.
He should be their lead back, whatever that winds up meeting.
Does it 12 carry 15?
Yeah, he should be their lead back.
And then Michael Carter's good to go.
And it'll be those two guys.
Poor James Robinson.
He is not the same player he was.
I think he'll know that.
No.
I mean, that was an amazing first couple of weeks where I'm like, oh, my God, because I totally discounted James Robinson.
and thinking you'd be a non-fact.
I'm like, oh, my God, well.
So did everyone else.
And then they, you know, as Greg always says,
coaches always play the best players.
That's what happened to Jack.
Some people were giving him a little love, actually.
Like I thought he was going up the draft board a little bit too high,
but that's neither here nor there.
Night is the rookie from NC State, correct?
Yes, correct.
Yeah.
Yeah, I watched him coming out.
It's got good size.
Yeah.
Did you view him as like, you know, a number two type of guy,
you know, big picture at running back or even lower than that?
What did you think of him?
I viewed him as a second back at best.
Right.
I didn't think he possessed a higher level running profile.
I'm looking at my notes right now because I did do him.
I thought he was very much a measured and methodical runner.
That was not, didn't have what you'd ultimately want in terms of burst and explosiveness.
But, you know, I mean, again, backs are, you know, backs can play.
Yeah.
If there are holes and you want to run the ball a lot and the game plays out that way, you know, could he gain yards? Sure he could.
If this game plays out and he's going to get 17 carries, could he get 82 yards? Sure he could.
Kind of sounds like James Robinson, honestly, you know? I would say the one thing, here's what he did have.
He did have patience. He did have vision and he's strong in his lower half. So, I mean, he did finish runs well.
Right. Right.
And that's a fantasy goldmined almost.
Like lately, at least the last two games have been unbelievable for fantasy.
I didn't know where.
Now Michael Carter back, but I wouldn't pull back from the expectations, honestly.
You know, 15 touches, I think should be pretty guaranteed here most weeks for Zad of a night.
The Titans and the Jags, Trevor Lawrence out of practice.
I cannot believe that that was not an E injury, by the way.
I know. Yeah, I know. You're listening to tell it. It sure looked like one.
I mean, it looked like he tore his ACL.
Yeah, look bad. C.J. Bethard will be the quarterback. If Lawrence doesn't work tomorrow,
look for Bethard to start.
And then didn't the Titans just have to put the corner on IR?
Yeah, the third corner. Yes, the nickel core, yes.
Who molded?
What was that again?
Yes, he went on IR, yes.
We're talking about molding, right?
Yes. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah.
Right.
So, Greg, what happened to the Titans last week, basically?
I mean, I saw your notes.
Basically, the Cliff Notes version is they got manhandled at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.
That would kind of sum it up, John.
I mean, it is very rare in this league.
And I say this honestly, it is very rare in this league to see a quarterback drop back
snap after snap after snap and have no one around them.
and that was kind of the case with the Eagles pass game in Jalen Hertz.
There was no one around Jalen Hertz.
And contrary, on the flip side, there were always people around Ryan Tanyhill.
Yeah, and Adam, if they do not have Traylon Burks, is he even, what's his deal?
He's a concussion. He hasn't worked yet.
He's not on this injury report I'm looking at, which is weird.
So I figured that.
It's very, Adam, when you agree nowadays,
with what's gone on. It's very rare
for a guy to get a concussion of play the
next week. More often
not the players, it doesn't matter what age.
They are, whether young or older, they don't play.
But a couple guys have snuck by
where they have the injury on Sunday.
We had a guy,
we had a guy, I think, played on a Thursday night.
Now, what happened, he was in the protocol,
but they said he didn't have a concussion.
The guy played Thursday. But yeah,
well, you're right, Greg, more often than not
more often than not. By the way,
you know, it's going to be interesting. It's very hard to
change your entire sort of methodology during the season, John.
But I thought it was very telling because Mike Braeball is not, he chooses his words carefully.
He's not, he doesn't speak on a whim, as we all know.
And he did come out and say, we're kind of at a crossroads.
You know, keep in mind that Derek Henry has 75 rushes for 208 yards in his last four games
with a long run of 10.
Okay, so again, they're not equipped to come out and toss it around the yard, but
changing a few things here and there doesn't mean you've got to, you know, have 10,
he'll drop back 50 times.
So they're in a very interesting situation.
And I've been asked a lot over the last couple of weeks, probably even by you, John,
at one point about what I think of Derek Henry.
Yeah.
And I'm having a tough time answering that.
You know, I can't sit here and say, well,
he doesn't look like Derek Henry.
I don't know what the answer to that question is,
other than the fact that there's no production in the run game.
Yeah, yeah.
I think my opinion is there's a drop-off,
but he still kind of looks like Derek Henry,
but there's clearly a drop-off.
I don't think there's any disputing that.
It might be tough to detect.
Maybe the contact bounce isn't quite as good.
See, I don't know if I, I don't know.
Maybe he could be right.
I don't know if I could say that confidently.
Yeah, I'm not saying anything confident.
But I think it is, I think it's fair to say he's not as imposing and as dangerous nearly much as this year as the last two, right? Adam, would you say that's fair?
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Although it's funny because.
Although he does look pretty good, though.
John, earlier in the scene, he looked like the normal Derek.
Yeah.
So, right.
Yeah.
John, their line is so bad.
I just, I can, I don't know how they, how they have, what are they seven, five now?
And their defense is pretty good.
But there are some weeks where they actually move the ball a little bit, but not very much overall.
And we're also, well, Greg, to you, we don't have AJ Brown anymore.
And by the way, if they don't have Traylon Burks this week, like, what are they going to do?
Like Jacksonville's secondary is beatable, but I don't have a ton of confidence in this passing game without a guy like Berks.
I would agree with you.
Yeah.
And, you know, their passing game.
look, Tannenhill say what you want.
He's a professional quarterback.
It's not as if he's a bad quarterback.
But they just don't have weapons.
And they're not built to really throw the ball.
That's not the way they play.
So I'm just really curious where the Texans go offensively.
Look, can they win this game 17, 13?
Sure they can.
But I'm just thinking bigger picture here, John.
Yeah.
Now on the other side of the ball,
I don't know if you've noticed of Monty Hooker playing inside.
a little bit so we could
Well, they've gone to
Big Nickel as their base defense and
Hooker is the slot inside player
in Big Nickel, yes. They've been doing that.
They started that before Hooker got hurt
and then he got hurt and missed a month, but now he's
back and that's what they're doing.
I know the outside guys are pretty good.
So this could be a good matchup for
Christian Kirk coming off
a big game last week.
Well, well,
then it depends on if it's
11 person. Amani Hooker
plays big nickel at times when they play big nickel.
But when they do go to their conventional nickel with three corners,
Hooker will not be in the slot.
Right.
And who is that these days?
It'll probably be McCrary because everybody else hurt.
What they'll probably do on the outside is it'll either be Fulton and Avery on the
outside or Fulton Mitchell on the outside.
But McCrary's been pretty good, huh, the rookie?
For the most part, he gets to be here in the
there. Yeah. Beatable matchup, though, overall here. Assuming Trevor
Lawrence, of course, is, you know, in pretty good shape. And we'll see about that tomorrow.
And by the way, Adam, did you know that ETIN does not have a game with more than three
catches a game with more than three catches a show? Isn't that weird, though?
It is weird because he catches the ball so well. I don't know. I don't know. I don't
answer to that one. Dallas Cowboys, Houston, Texans. Adam, back to you. I mean, we got no
cooks and no Nico Collins.
so far this week in practice.
It doesn't look good for cooks.
I mean, we might be in full tank mode there,
but Nico, I guess if he does some work tomorrow,
he could have a chance.
Yeah, he's more often than not he plays when he's hurt,
but it's Chris Morgan,
it's Philip Rissette,
and Amari Rogers could actually do it.
Right, right.
Moore's been playing inside,
so I guess Amari would have to play inside there.
And then we're back to Davis Mills.
I don't know what that means.
I guess it's probably a slight upgrade from where we were.
Cowboys looking good, although it's just amazing how this Texan defense,
they actually are pretty good over the last four or five game.
They're not really giving up that much.
They haven't been run on.
Of course, the Cowboys will do that probably with success.
No Stingley again for Houston.
And the real problem is Adam,
DAC is probably not going to throw it more than 28, 30 times.
Yeah, look, it's, remember what Miami did?
They came out thrown like crazy.
They got up big and that they pulled the air on the football.
Yeah.
This should be interesting because you can't throw on this team.
And look, the Cowboys this past week, John, it was a fascinating in game plan approach.
They came out and they ran the ball.
They ended up the first half with 20 called runs and 21 called passes.
But that included eight of 10 called passes in the two possessions late in the second quarter.
So it was clearly a run-based methodical approach.
So if they get ahead, you could be right.
This could be a game where quarterback numbers and receiving numbers are not very good.
This should be a huge Zic game to make huge.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I mean, but Pollard is just, man, I'm kind of blown away by Pollard.
The fact that he's doing it every single week now.
They got an inch.
I cannot wait to do a run-back match.
They're a team that's got some big decisions to make on both of those players.
Yeah.
But again, I know this Texan D, Greg, is very predictable.
and all.
They don't, I don't know what it is.
Teams are falling asleep against them.
They've actually been good against the run pretty much the last four games,
five games, which I'm blown away by.
And then they don't give up production in the passing game.
They've only given up three touchdown passes in their last four games, for example.
And anyway, we can move on because it's a moot point.
But I'm just a little floored by how offenses aren't doing more.
Yeah, but you look at their schedule, John,
if you look at their schedule.
You're talking about the Texas defense?
Yeah, I know.
Hey, look, everybody's almost the same in his day.
Watson's first game back.
Right, right, right.
Yeah, yeah, the Giants.
Miami moved it like crazy in the first half.
They could have scored 60.
Even the Eagles, though.
They didn't kill them.
No, they played a bad first half, good second half.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
You got, you got, Miami housed them the first half of that game.
They went after it.
Sure, true, no, I know.
But I'm just saying they should be getting absolutely creamed every week
based on the personnel.
Like you said, they get paid to.
Greg just talked about,
you could run on this team,
and I expect them to run all over this.
Yeah, no doubt.
And especially when it's in Dallas,
they always tend to run a little bit more
with a little more juice and effectiveness in Big D.
Giants, Eagles.
Greg, first meeting between these two teams.
You've seen, obviously, you know the Eagles.
You've seen the Giants defense.
Noah Dory Jackson, you know, solid D.
I know Wink Martindale, you know, can bring a lot.
What kind of challenge do you think this Philly offense is facing this week?
Well, I think they're a challenging D to play against only because of all the things that they do.
You know, Wink Martindale has a track record in this league.
You know you're going to get a lot of pressure.
You know you're going to get a lot of multiple front looks with overload elements.
He plays a ton of defensive backs just this past week for the second time this year.
year. He played 21 snaps with seven defensive backs that's unheard of in the league. They play a lot of
man coverage. So they're a challenging defense to play against just in terms of preparation.
And then even in game, just who's coming, who's not coming. How do you, where do you slide your
protection? Who has who? So they're, they're difficult to play against. That doesn't mean the Eagles
won't move the ball and score. But that's the nature of Wink Martindale's defense.
Let's move on to Adam, your thoughts on...
Oh, by the way, Barclay added Nick.
That's where I was going to go.
Yeah, so this is a new injury.
It's been really weird.
They've had six players listed over the last three weeks with neck issues.
A couple of them haven't played.
I have no answer.
I've not heard that before.
I'm just telling what I know.
Very weird.
We won't know anything to the bomb.
Yeah, and Greg, I thought Barclay, back to you, Greg.
I thought Barclay's touchdown.
He showed...
It was one of those slow to the whole,
hole explode through it. I thought he showed a great burst on that touchdown run, but overall,
like, you know, he continues to be this big play-dependent running back.
That's what he is. What he's not, and again, this is a tape study statement, despite his
size and his obvious weight room strength, which we've all seen through the years with the videos,
he's not really an efficient confined space runner. And that limits him from being a consistent
and sustaining runner.
So he doesn't really get a lot of hard yards.
Even Sanders is getting hard yards, you know?
Yeah, he can take it to the house on any play, John, any play from anywhere on the field.
Oh, I know.
But, you know, look, they were up 20 to 13 late in the third quarter against the commanders,
and they tried to win that game running the football, you know, which a lot of teams would do.
You know, hey, now it's time with the so-called great back to line up and let's run the football.
They couldn't do that.
the Titans couldn't run the football against this Eagle D last week.
Was that a function of their reinforcements and how they played?
Or did they just have to abandon Derek Henry?
Because, you know, Barclay is going to get the ball this week.
I mean, Barclay will get the ball this week because they don't have a whole lot else to do.
Yeah.
In many ways, just like the Titans.
So, yeah, I mean, I know much was made for a couple of weeks.
and Adam and I discussed this in another venue.
I don't really view the Eagles run defense as a big problem.
But back,
there's seven.
John,
some do,
but I don't.
They're actually top 10.
John,
top 10 in last three weeks run defense.
Well,
I feel now,
I mean,
I feel like there were a little spotty mid-season.
Oh,
they were struggling,
but here's a thing,
though,
they have such depth now on the offensive.
I mean,
sweat,
Cox,
Joseph,
Jordan Davis,
and Domican Sue,
Brandon Graham.
I mean,
that is unbelievable.
Davis is not much of the fact,
but yeah,
but they've got good,
rotation. No, they're, and I think they took, I think they took the talk of,
of Henry coming in personally, because people have been beating them up about the run
defense. They brought it, you know, they were unbelievable. I mean, they were, they were really good.
I don't know what order I'm going on, by the way. We've got a new page where I've got
all the, both the matchups and the injuries. These are all 1 o'clock.
Oh, still 1 o'clock, yeah, yeah, but it doesn't matter. I, I'm not going to duplicate a game. I'm
that dumb. But anywho, just for anyone following with the order, I mean, it's a rando
order. But Detroit, Minnesota, and Jared Goff, Greg, continues to put out some damn good
tape. I'm almost wondering now if they might consider not going quarterback next year. They probably
will, but that's neither here. A lot of points, John. That seems to be the goal here in the NFL,
and they're scoring a lot of points. Yeah. Actually, go ahead. I was just because I don't think they're going
to because his first one,
his GM Brad Holmes was part involved in his drafting.
He was the college director, the Rams.
That's why Gough is there.
And you could come into the season and say there's no way they're going to pick it up.
But the way that he's played, and by the way, this Ben Johnson, the associate is terrific.
They think he's a stud.
Yeah.
What a fine they have for this Ben Johnson guy.
And Greg, you mentioned that on the podcast, that, you know, guys are open for the Lions, period.
Yeah.
And you know what they're playing to what Gough is.
You know, that sounds silly like it seems obvious that every coach had played to what a quarterback is.
But what did Goff do exceptionally well when he was with McVeigh and the Rams for those three or four years?
He was under center.
They ran play action.
So what do they do in Detroit?
He has 130 play action dropbacks this year.
One hundred of them have come with him under center.
So they max pro.
Sometimes they play with six offensive linemen.
They define it for them.
They protect them.
And you know what?
Say what you want about Jared Gough.
No one's suggesting he's a top three quarterback in the league.
But if he's comfortable and clean, he throws a beautiful ball.
And he is throwing the ball extremely well, and he's clearly a comfortable player.
I think all that.
And Williams, no matter what his target share might be this week, John, he played eight snaps of offense last week.
You know that number will increase.
So even if he doesn't get a big target share, he still impacts how defenses have to play in coverage.
Yeah, yeah.
can open some underneath stuff up for Amon Ra too, Adam.
And, you know, golf has played this well with Hawkinson departing midstream.
Shark was out forever.
His boy Reynolds was out.
Reynolds is back now.
They played a lot of 11 person or less week.
They played a lot.
Yeah, well, everybody's back.
And the Vikings are a big split safety team.
So there are holes in the middle of them when you go play action.
Yeah.
John, I would expect them to spread them out.
The way you beat Minnesota is you throw at them.
We know that.
That's coming.
That's coming.
Oh, it's coming.
That's coming.
We've got them high.
It's a high total in the game.
They won four out of five.
I know.
We lost with Buffalo, which they played extremely well.
I'm watching them.
I really do.
This is not a bad, and defensively,
they've improved significantly over the last month.
So this is a,
they're a very competitive football team, John.
Well, they are favored.
I know.
Do you know the Vikings open of the favorite?
Now the Lions are,
lines have become a public team.
I mean, what are the Vikings, 10 and 2?
I don't even, no.
Yeah, they're 10 and 2.
The 10 and 2 Vikings go to Detroit and the Lions are favorite.
I know it's in Detroit, but I mean, that says a lot right there.
The respect.
By the way, the betters are betting on the Lions because it opened like, you know,
Minnesota is the favorite.
So the Sharps out there see it.
And I see it too as a Vikings fan.
They'll, they'll, I picked them to lose.
I went 13, 1 in 1 last week picking games straight up.
I picked them to lose this week.
Now, do you think the Lion D, Greg, might actually, you know, present a real problem for Kirk Cousins?
I mean, they do play a lot of man-to-man.
I don't know if I'd say a real problem.
They're not special.
I would say they've been a pressure defense all season with mixed results, but they've certainly
been more judicious in their pressures over the last month.
month or so. Early in the year, they were just really overdoing pressure and they were getting,
quite frankly, their ass burned. But they've kind of settled down a little bit. They'll still play
man. They'll still press. You know, they challenge you. They're not an easy defense to play
against, but we'll see how they choose to play in this one because, you know, obviously they've got
to deal with Jefferson, who I think in the first match of week three did not do very much against
them at all.
Yeah.
If I'm recently correctly.
Well, we have a, you know, Jeff Akuta out there playing real well, Greg.
I don't know how much of him you've noticed, but.
And by the way, the other kid playing corner opposite Okuda for the last three, four weeks,
Jacobs, he has jumped off the screen as well.
He's playing pretty good football.
And he had been ACL as soon.
By the way, in that first meeting, Justin Jefferson had three catches for 14.
Yeah, I was going to say he did not have.
much. I remember that. Now, I was going to say he'll see a lot of Akuta this week.
And I do like Hawkinson quite a bit.
Osborne and Thiel and each caught eight ball. Irv Smith had six targets. So there was a lot of
stuff in the middle of the field that looked like. And then their run d has been pretty good
too. And the Vikings have been interesting over the last month. I made a note of that watching
their tape. They've kind of slowly evolved. They were a very heavy 11 personnel offense.
and over the last month,
they've really kind of incrementally evolved
into playing a lot more with 12 personnel
and with 21 personnel.
And, you know, again, I can't speak to the reason why,
but that's what they've done.
Is that why Johnny Munt is on the field a lot?
That is why Johnny Munt is on.
Johnny Munt case.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah, that's what I thought.
Okay.
I don't know what that's about because KJ.
I don't know the reason.
I'm just telling you what's going on.
Oh, I know.
That's why KJ. Osborne is not even a factor.
Yeah, he actually, I mean,
He's playing a lot earlier, but it wasn't like he was doing much, Sean.
Even when they were 11, he doesn't, he didn't, for whatever reason, just didn't throw in the ball launch.
Yeah.
And they were high on him going into the year.
He's a good player.
It's just now with the Hockinson and they're forget about it.
Right, right.
Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens.
We do have Naji still on this injury report, but he was limited today.
Yeah, same injury.
He'll play.
Deontag's got a hip.
Yeah, but he's had a problem with his hip for several weeks.
He winds up playing so he back.
off today.
Right.
Otherwise, it looks like they're okay.
Obviously, Tyler Huntley.
No, Kevin Zitler, I see, in practice.
Yeah, two days.
We'll see.
See tomorrow.
Greg, any thoughts on Tyler Huntley?
I mean, he's kind of a Lamar clone.
You know, Lamar hasn't been that great this year.
I mean, I don't know how much of a drop off we got from Lamar to Tyler Huntley as it relates
to like Mark Andrews, at least.
Yeah, I don't have anything brilliant.
to say on Tyler Huntley. I didn't watch the tape. I remember watching him last season when he played
the final six games, and he actually played pretty well, but I didn't watch the tape this week.
My sense is with Tyler Huntley, you're not changing very much that you do at all. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Well,
the biggest recollection I have is his first game last year. He was smart enough to freaking throw
a ball to Mark Andrews a lot. So I would expect that would continue. And then Adam, you know,
I continually wait for a guy, Kenny,
pick it to have this like you know a little bit of a breakout performance and it just isn't
happening even though he's playing well yeah i mean he's he's doing a fine job it's just weird he cannot
get two touchdowns i don't i it's they have the talent the craziness of of it is
and gregg's been telling us about these isolation routes it just cannot get out of it it it just
cannot get it out of it it it's the scheme you can't change the scheme in season you just
that's who they are that's what this this is just you have to live with it john
As I told you on our show weeks ago, it's all going to change next year.
They're not going to put up with this kind of all the talent that they have, John,
to underachieve offensively like they have.
It's just not going to go well.
I'm hoping.
I know I say good things about them every week,
but I kind of think George can do something here,
I guess, like Marcus Peters or the other corner, Stevens,
there on the outside.
And obviously, Fryeermuth every single week for Baltimore,
man, Drew's.
Do you trust DeMarcus Robinson,
Adam, because he was a factor last week,
but so was Devin-Dau-N-Durne.
He's had a role.
I told Duvonay's really not an outside-receiver.
No, he's not.
Yeah.
He's not.
He's not.
It's tough.
It could be a rare-in game. All these games out-easter,
to be impacted by ring.
There's been a lot of rare.
Bengals Browns moving on here, the week 14 edition of matchup points, the live stream here at FantasyPoint.com.
Joe Mixon, Mr. C. What does it mean? Is he out?
No, he's got one more, he's just got to, he's farther ahead than it was last week.
He's got to go through tomorrow and he'll get cleared.
You know, and it's one of those things. Nobody knows the answer, but do they ease them in given the situation?
I doubt it. I doubt it too.
I doubt it.
I mean, it's not like an ankle injury.
You just, if he's cleared, he's clear.
Oh, by the way, T. Higgins at it after practice hamstring.
Don't know.
I don't know.
Greg, you probably have not looked at this, but Burrow has not been good against the Brown.
I don't know why.
The first matchup was in Cleveland.
Yeah, the first one was the Monday nighter where they had just lost Chase.
And that was their worst game in the season.
I would not expect that to happen again.
Yeah, because, you know, this Brown defense,
They just have not been very good all year.
You know, against the run, which bodes well for Mixin.
And, like, you know, Denzel Ward, I don't think has been all that good.
What about David and Joku, Adam, ended up being inactive last week?
Yeah, limited again.
He's questionable to play at this point.
We'll see what happens tomorrow.
Who's limited?
I'm sorry?
And Joku, David and Jok.
Oh, okay.
Well, and, you know, any thoughts, Adam on Sean Watson's debut?
It did not go.
I watched quarter and a half of it.
He looked like the guy that hadn't played a year and a half.
Yeah, he did.
You know, it'll get better.
It'll get better.
He just got to, and having a joku will help because they need a target over the middle.
Because you put in joku with Cooper and DPJ, that's not a bad group.
Greg, this is a pretty challenging matchup for Watson game two here, right?
The Bengals, they can get pressure with four.
They still look like they're holding up.
up on the back end.
I kind of like the defense.
They're not special in any one category.
Like you don't say, wow, they've got this many sacks or, wow, they've got this many
interceptions.
I think they're a really solid defense.
I think they do some good things.
They've got some good stunt concepts.
I think overall, they've got good players that probably are not special game-changing
players the way we think of that, John.
But they've got a lot of good players on the defensive side of the ball.
I mean, it's like they have zero.
game changers and like seven like rock solid guys you know or more yeah yeah i mean you know
no one's going to say logan wilson is a top three linebacker but logan wilson's a really good player
yeah i haven't heard hendrickson's name as much this year he's still rushing the quarterback
pretty well yeah um and even eli apples seems to be hanging in there uh at corner
the kid uh cam phil britt's player he's a really good player yes he's
and that's the wuzi opposite apple
Yeah, because of,
Wuzier replacement.
Yeah.
That is correct.
Was he a second rounder?
Second or third from Nebraska, I believe.
Yeah, he's a lot of guys that Scott are going to love with him to the grab.
Is that Dax Hill played much, the rookie?
I don't think so.
Not that much, no.
Wow.
Because that's preparing for Jesse Bates, I think, the league next time.
So anyway, I really liked Camp Taylor Britt.
I just pulled up my evaluation.
and my final point was overall Taylor Britt as a strong prospect with multidimensional
trades and a lot of juice in a competitiveness that jumped off the film.
I really like, I loved his tape coming out of college, and he's now starting, and, you know,
he shows up on tape.
My first line was he's a scheme, a versatile corner with outstanding competitiveness
and physical and mental toughness.
As you project and transition him to the next level, he plays every,
snap with high level intensity and energy and physicality.
That's huge because if you scheme versus utility,
you can play the way that teams move guys around.
That's huge.
Yeah, I really liked him.
And I think having watched him on tape and having seen their defense,
John, since he's been playing, he's a good player.
Yeah, that's their second round pick after they took Dax Hill.
So if that kid wants him.
He won't get out of the lineup.
I mean, you know, if they really like a woozy and he comes back next year,
it would be Apple.
That would be gone.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, for sure.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, for sure.
Well, I'm moving on here.
I'm scrolling.
Well, we've got Denver at or against Kansas City, Mr. C,
and it does not look good at all for Cortland Sutton.
No.
With the hamstring injury isn't work yet this week.
And then Judy, though, looks okay.
Same head one tree he's had.
He's been able to play through it.
Yeah.
You think Mike Boone's,
might increase here? He got out a little bit more. Maybe maybe eight to ten. Because as I've said
throughout this, it's like the Tavis Murray is 32 years old. How many, I mean, how much work are you
really going to give this guy? He's hanging in there though. I know, but, but Boonell's back.
So he should get a little bit more work than did last week. Chief's injury. They're pretty
healthy. Yeah, they come in. They should have everybody. Even cadaverous Tony.
Other than Cadarias. They won't know until tomorrow. It's the problem with them, John.
John, the problem with him is, even if he's active,
you have no idea how much you can play.
He can come out at any time.
The worst.
I've not seen anything like this before.
Right.
Hey, I was, I still maintain Isaiah Pacheco.
I scratch my cornea watching him play,
but the guy's productive, so I give it up to Isaiah Pacheco.
He brings him.
You know, I get a very nauseous feeling watching him,
but hey, hey, you know, there's a lot of herky, jerky motion,
but it's working right now.
And, you know, I do think, Greg, what do you think of this matchup here overall?
I mean, Denver secondary is still pretty darn good here.
Any thoughts there?
I guess they don't have a receiver that Sartan's going to, like, shut down, I guess.
Yeah, I mean, my sense is the Chiefs got to score pretty much on everybody, John.
I mean, we're basically discussing whether they're going to get 24 or 40.
I mean, you don't see the Chiefs with games where they get 13.
So, you know, the issue for the chiefs, as you well know, because they don't have the one receiver other than Kelsey is who's going to get the targets.
That changes on a week-to-week basis.
We have all their corners grading out pretty well here.
Mathis, Bassie, the kid who...
I really like Mathis.
He's the fourth round rookie from Pittsburgh, and he's another tough competitive guy.
I really liked his tape coming out, and he's been starting because of injury opposite Sartan.
And I think he's going to be a really...
really good player. I mean, it sure makes sense for this to be a tight end game. And Greg,
they use all three to those damn tight ends in Casey nowadays. Well, that's where Casey has evolved
into as this season has progressed, playing a lot more with multiple tight end sets. Now,
I didn't watch their tape this week, so I don't want to, you know, be wrong on that,
but that's what they had done over the last two, three weeks prior. I'm pretty sure Fortson was,
you know, you got to get Fortson on the field. I mean, period. I mean, actually, he does run well.
I mean, it's a former receiver, right?
He's a former receiver, yeah.
Actually, without Tyra Kill, I got to give them credit.
Without Tyra Kill, they're finding different ways and inventive ways,
and they're using these other tight ends.
Greg, did you say Noah Grant?
Was he a receiver in college?
No, he was a tight end to do.
Okay, no, but you might have come that someone in Scouting told me,
one of these guys came to college as a receiver,
and then maybe once a tight end.
It was Fortston.
Fordston, yeah, it was Fordston.
Yeah, it was Fortston.
Yeah, for what it's worth, you know, Mahomes and the receivers
did come up small last week against Cincinnati,
but maybe that's their Achilles heel.
But they're due now to bounce back.
I can't say I love any of the receivers, though,
Juju included.
The Broncos secondaries, damn good.
And by the way, I think it'll be Pacheco.
This will be a game where they actually run the ball, I think,
because is Russ Wilson and the Broncos really,
are they really going to put up 30?
Not even close.
Niners, bucks.
Boy, I do worry about this one, Greg, for Brady here with all those O-line injuries.
We're still out of practice on the road.
They're the least explosive offense, almost, Greg, in football.
You know, I mean, if you put aside, which you can't, but if you were to put aside Brady
and the fact that the receivers are talented, okay, obviously Evans, Jones, Godwin can make special plays on any given snap.
They're higher level talents.
Yeah.
But if you just look at their offense on a weekly basis, it's a difficult offense to watch.
And again, individual plays can always happen.
They do in the NFL.
I mean, these guys are great players.
But if you just think about it logically, you'd be hard pressed to feel that the Bucks can sustain offense against this defense.
Yeah, exactly.
Exactly.
I'm very concerned.
I mean, Greg, is it fair to look at the departure of Bruce Arians as part of this problem?
I mean, we don't know about the O-Lines.
Yeah, that's an unknown.
I mean, we don't know what Aryans did or didn't do.
We don't know what kind of collaboration he did with Leifftwich.
We don't know any of that.
So that's impossible to know.
I mean, I thought some of the play calling has been a little suspect.
Well, he's got Luffington's gone on a lot of criticism this season.
Bruce was involved last year.
Bruce tried to downplay that.
Could Byron call the plays?
It's kind of weird because other than, obviously, the loss of Grancowski's major,
I mean, I talked to Bucks about that earlier this season.
It's fair.
Yeah, it's fair.
But, as Greg said, all the talent they have around them just kind of,
I mean, there's something missing with this passing game?
I don't know what it is.
Greg would be better to talk about that.
Well, Brady has missed throws that he normally makes.
they throw the ball down the field a lot.
Brady, because he gets rid of the ball,
there's times where there's close pressure
and he just essentially throws it away.
So, you know, their run game, see,
you know, John, it's funny you mentioned play calling
because none of us know the answer to that.
But when you can't run the ball at all,
it makes your play, you know,
it makes your play calling difficult.
Yeah.
You know, it's like in baseball,
if you have bad starting pitching
and you're down five nothing in the fourth inning every night,
it looks like you have a bad baseball team.
You know, if you can't run the ball at all,
it play calling becomes a pretty difficult thing to do.
But also to the point you made like six weeks ago,
like can we get somebody in the middle of the field to help out?
Yeah, that's, I've been talking about that for two months.
You know, like let's let's get KDOT and going here a little bit, you know,
and bounce things out.
But overall, very tough situation here.
We're lowering expectations across the board.
You know, Mike Evans at him, too.
I mean, clearly he is not, he's dropped off this year.
That last game, I don't know what was up with the timing with all of his past targets.
It was way off.
He's way off.
He's either hurt.
There's just everything's off.
It's just really weird.
I don't know.
I don't feel great about it.
I mean, I know you weren't high on Brady before the season started.
You nailed that one.
Yeah.
It hasn't worked.
But, you know, it would be, I would have thought.
that we could have figured some things out by week 13, but we have not.
You know, I feel like if Bruce is there, we're figuring stuff out by week 13.
It's fair to say that, of course, we don't know what that means.
I mean, now Bruce is technically there as a consultant.
Yeah, yeah.
And again, in their defense, the demo line has been in tatters.
And that's a problem.
That's part of it.
We underestimated all that.
I think that's where I think I missed on this team.
And I was there for two days, but I didn't realize how much of an impact.
Jensen's injury, the retirement of the guard.
Yeah.
You know, I'm talking about.
From Hobart.
Yeah, yes, yes, yes.
Yeah.
Why do I know Hobart, and I can't pull on the,
I know, and I can't remember his name either.
What the hell is it?
It's a, oh, God.
Allie Marpet.
Allie Marpet.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Look, it's been a problem.
No, because if he added all up, John, there you go.
You've got, it's even the best of all time can't overcome it.
Oh, yeah, that's what I did all offseason.
I added up all these issues.
I'm like, Ed, Ed, Ed.
Not good.
Niners with Brock Purdy.
Greg, I know you saw a little bit of him.
I saw all of them, yep.
He kind of, I mentioned to you, it reminded me a little bit when Bailey Zappy came in there.
Like, who did, why Bailey Zappy?
I'm like, oh, he's hanging in there.
How did he do last week?
All we have is last week, and he put it himself reasonably well.
it was a challenging defense to play against, as is the Bucks, by the way.
But he understood what he was seeing because the dolphins, they put a lot of people up with
the line of scrimmage.
There's a lot of disguise.
There's a lot of late rotation.
He handled himself well and made some big time third down throws.
We'll see what happens this week.
You know, don't forget, he was the last pick in a draft for a reason.
So does that mean he can't end up being, you know, an NFL player?
Of course not.
but, you know, guys usually, usually get drafted in certain places for a reason.
So let's wait and see.
We have limitations that might pop to the surface, like arm strength, downfield throws.
Yeah.
And he's very streaky.
He's very streaky.
John, he got benched twice at Iowa State.
Yeah.
Right.
He's very, very strict.
Okay.
So when he's feeling it, he can look very good when he's when he's in one of his bad streaks.
the problem with him when he's in a bad streak is he tends to be an extremely aggressive
thrower. He's got a little bit of a gunslinger attitude, so he ends up making throws that he can't
really make. I would imagine Kyle be even more inclined to run the ball.
Oh, yeah, and their run game needs to be better, John. Let's be realistic here. Their run game
needs to be better. Adam, I thought Jordan Mason, though, looked pretty good last week.
Yeah, look, he brings some energy to it to John, they were not going to risk him being cut,
you know, through waivers.
That's how good he was in training camp.
Yeah.
That's why Sturman's, he's, there's my Sermon's out there because Mason.
And I tell you, so with Purdy, he's a kind of guy, Greg's Wright, came off the bench.
He did a great job.
He really did.
He is severe limitations.
A friend of mine who is in scouting, he's a scouting director told me.
I was asking about him.
I said, hey, what can you tell me about?
I said, I said, is he a garden-mintchoo type?
because he wish he was Minchot.
He said he just,
he might,
Mincher doesn't have very strong arm,
but he's pretty accurate quarterback.
He's very limited,
very limited.
But what they love is he's got a lot of moxie.
Greg was talking about that.
He's very competitive.
Kyle loved that about him.
Channahan was like,
they were like, wow,
he may not have the best college tape,
but this kid's super competitive.
He kind of wowed them and traded camp.
You know,
the Buck D,
they're a little underwhelming.
They're injured, they got a lot of injuries, a lot.
Shaw Murphy, Bunting, Winfield, back.
No, Winfield's not playing this week.
Well, yeah, that's what I mentioned.
You just said there's a lot of injuries.
No, they have a lot of guys hurt.
Yeah, they got a lot of guys hurt back.
Winfield, Murphy Bunning, Mike Edwards.
It's kind of like last year at this time.
They've had a lot of injuries on their back in for two years in a row.
Yeah.
I couldn't believe how good Andy Dahl looked against them last week.
Let's be honest here.
Like.
Probably because of those.
injuries.
Did those guys missed last week?
A bunch of them were.
One of the guys got hurt in the game, the Russ didn't.
Oh, because I didn't know Murphy Bunting was even questionable last week.
Yeah, he's had a quadriceps injury.
Oh.
Yeah. Winfield's got an ankle injury.
He didn't play last week.
I doubt that he plays this week.
He hasn't worked.
Mike Edwards has a new hamstring injury.
He didn't play the last week.
I mean, this is not like a shutdown D this year.
I mean, it was to start the season.
They were killing everybody.
Then the injuries started.
Remember,
Tick's towards a planter fascia.
Well, he's back.
Shack Barrow towards AC, uh, Killes.
Yeah, I mean, it hurts.
Right.
Uh, oh, by the way, um, let's see for those guys,
Bosa, are we in danger of, uh, no, Bosa?
Uh, this is in, yeah, this is a new, I don't, I, they haven't sent me their,
their injury report yet today.
This is a new injury.
Nick, Nick Bosa?
Yeah, he has a new injury, yeah.
Hamstring.
Hamstring.
What's his injury?
Hamstring.
Hamstring.
Did he practice?
Oh, I guess we.
don't know that. Yeah, we don't know what happened. He didn't practice Wednesday. Right, but we got
waiting on today. Let's see if I have it updated today. Now, I still don't have it updated today.
It's only 3.30 over there and the West Coast. Now we have Seattle and Carolina. Just, I mean,
you don't even need to watch the tape for Gino Smith, Greg. Just just hold your notes from like
week six, because I'm sure it's the same guy. I mean, almost every single week. Uh, continue.
needs to be very consistent, but Adam probably not going to have the two top running backs.
It doesn't look good. Yeah. It doesn't look good. So Tony Jones would probably get a leadback.
Travis Homer would play third down, back them up. They like Homer and pass protection.
That's, again, that's if Walker and D.J. Dallas don't play. It doesn't look good for either one.
Greg, do they, do they, I don't know how much of the Panthers have you seen. Have you seen lately of J.C.
Orne does any traveling, if you will.
That's one team, John.
I'll be totally honest.
I have not seen them in a week, so I have zero to say.
Yeah.
Well, Deonté Foreman, Adam, I'm a little worried about this foot because he's coming off the
buy.
They're expecting the play.
He worked today.
Yeah, he worked today.
So that's good.
But you do worry about that foot thing being aggravated in game because it happened in
their last game.
Yeah, yeah.
You had to come out of the box.
Sure.
Yeah.
Hubbard actually looked pretty good.
that week. He does. He's he's he said they found a role for him in back of uh finally it's
starting to work it's a good one two punch. Yeah and look just keep using locket and tk
because they they don't have a third receiver. I guess Marky's goodwin almost scored last week.
But then a little fantacloss. Uh, they do throw to the tight ends these days. Uh,
and that's a solid spot there against Carolina. Uh, do you trust Sam Darnold, Adam?
getting the ball to our guy, DJ Moore.
You have the rookie woolen on the other side lurking.
Oh, he's great.
I mean, he's right up there for defensive rookie the year.
Yeah, but are they, I think Greg, you said they're playing more man this year, right?
Who's that?
Seahawks.
Yeah, they mix and match.
Their defense, they're struggling to stop the run.
Yeah, yeah.
Okay.
I'm just saying when they throw, we're trying to see DJ, see what they would do with more.
Okay.
Well, they don't they don't they play one on the right side and then they play
Jackson on the left side.
Gotcha.
So they don't they don't match up.
Okay.
Wollon has had a really good year.
Oh, it's good year.
And DJ Moore lines up on that same side as Wollon 40% of the time per fantasy point.
So he'll see a good amount of them.
So that's a little bit of a concern.
But, yeah.
By the way, if you're talking about coverage,
Seattle is a very big mixture of coverage.
They play a lot.
So you can't really say, oh, this is what they do,
and this is what you know you're going to get.
Yes, they do play man.
They also play cover two.
They play cover three.
So, I mean, they mix and match.
It would all be dependent on down, you know, feel location, things like that.
Well, we do know that the combo of Woolen and Michael Jackson have been freaking lights out, right?
I mean.
Yep, yep.
And that is a problem for Mr. DJ Moore.
who doesn't really line up inside much, by the way.
Chargers and dolphins here.
Is there anything about the Chargers defense, Greg?
We all know they're bad against the run.
So we'll see if Miami will actually run the ball here.
We'll get to Adam's thoughts on Jeff Wilson in a moment.
But, you know, to a little bit of a rough spot last week,
what do you think about his matchup here against these chargers?
you know, can they go in here and kind of do what they do,
which is, you know, make those explosive run after the catch plays.
Downfield players are those wideouts.
Yeah, I think they can.
Two is coming off a game in which he didn't play particularly well,
missed some throws that he's made all season long.
I would expect him to play better this week.
So, yeah, they'll do what they do because that's who they are.
They're not going to be different than what they are, John.
I guess I'm trying to figure out.
like what kind of defense might give them problems, you know?
The Chargers play have played far more man coverage than people might think
because everybody just says, oh, Brandon Staley, Vic Fangio, they play a ton of his own.
They play a lot more man coverage than people might think.
That might be good for Tyreek, though.
It might be, and they may not do that this week.
You don't know.
Yeah.
And by the way, Bryce Callahan's going to bother him again.
Yeah.
That would be a little bit of an issue.
Yeah, and Derwin James got a new injury
Pottersheps season work this week, but Mike Williams
should play barring something up for seat.
Yeah, Mike Williams was a full participant in practice.
Yeah, yeah, in fact, this is their,
this is the week they thought he'd be able to play in it.
Oh, yeah, that's big.
That's big.
Asante Samuel, Greg, he seems to be
doing pretty well this year.
I don't know if you'd notice him.
He's okay, right?
Yeah, I mean, I haven't studied him, but yeah,
what they do, by the way, just so you know, John,
they play field and bound.
So there's no matchups.
So obviously they'll get each guy, but Samuel plays to the field and Mike Davis is the boundary corner.
Yeah, you'll be happy to know.
I'm looking at, that's what I'm looking at more.
You know, like the whole DJ Moore thing, you know, like do these guys stay outside?
Okay.
Then you're going to see both guys.
And as a duo, like the Seattle guys, that's a tough matchup, no matter how you slice it.
This, I would say, is probably below average, but not like.
scary you know i think michael davis you know he's pretty good uh corner right well michael davis
started all last year before they signed jackson and then when jackson got her early in the season
davis just moved back in as the boundary corner so davis was a full-time starter a year ago
they obviously wanted to get jackson um they felt i guess the position needed to be upgraded
but he's not a guy that has no experience he's played otherwise
adam for the dolphins i mean i don't you probably have
talk to anyone like what what happened to jeff wilson last week he's not on the
issue where they got behind that also they got smoked that a lot of people would so
would you trust them if you needed them this week the last week of the regular oh yeah against
uh it's not the incher point the worst worst run defense it's not even closer and the chargers
you know they're down three defensive tackles for the season right and the the one guy
left standing joseph day's got an injury he's no there's no lock at play by with darwin james
out of practice this week out of
yeah
spottercepts yep yeah
well and you're not
you're not running it would most
sort of ton either I don't think
and they don't have anybody else
that they use
well question for Greg on that
or just on San Diego
the Chargers defense have you seen
Kenf Murray this season
well yes oh I see the Chargers
defense oh yeah what do you think of Murray
this how does he play
um without having studied him
in great detail
I would say Murray is one of those
guys that looks physically really good, moves really well, I don't think he sees it as quickly as
you need to. You know, like Tranquil is a much better player, even though you'd say Murray is a
better athlete, you know, and a more physically gifted talent. But so Murray makes some plays here
and there, but he's also one of those guys that always seems to me to be just a hair late to the
ball. But again, that's just without having, you know, really studying just him. But, Joe, that's
That's important, John, because they're so screwed at deep tackle.
If you're late, if you're not processing well enough, you're Kevin Murray because you're playing inside, that means something because they're getting to the second level of the defense all the time against the Chargers.
John, they're so bad against the run.
They don't have the personnel.
Greg, though, any thought of Pipkins is banged up still?
Yeah, same knee.
Same knee problem.
He has some practice in like two weeks.
And do you think this Miami defense can cause some problems here with Herbert?
You know, that compressed offense.
Mike Williams back is pretty big here.
But any thoughts on Herbert and the passing game against this Miami-D?
Well, Miami-D is tough to play against because of all the pressure front looks,
which they'll show.
If you think Herbert's been getting the ball out fast now, he's going to get the ball out faster
because their old line is a problem.
It's a big problem.
and they're playing against the defense that really is challenging from a pressure standpoint.
Yeah, so a lot of shorter passes.
There'll be a lot of quick game throws in this one, John.
That's a lot of Josh Palmer, you know.
Could be.
I hope so.
And Kenan, of course.
Canaan looks good.
I remember writing Adam the trade for Keenan Allen like two months ago.
He's finally healthy.
It only took him almost three months to get rid of that hampshire problem.
Well, if he keeps producing,
It'll go down just fine.
I was like, oh, no.
He's healthy.
Look, well, it helps at Mike Wimes.
Gerald Everett, I think, just missed a tutty last week,
but he did have a pretty good game.
Finally, the Cardinals.
Actually, oh, what do you think about Jalen Waddle,
limited?
Boy, I'm a little worried, but I guess if he's limited,
they're trying to.
They're actually practicing at UCLA,
so I've not gotten, so they're practicing late,
so I have not got what is going on.
today. But this is a new one. He's over the shoulder, but he bruised his fibula. So he worked
yesterday, so he should play. He just, he probably hasn't protected. I mean, this game is in
LA. I think that actually matters. The charge is not traveling all across the country here.
They don't tend to do all that well. You know, I actually stay in Los Angeles near their,
where they work out, I guess, in the offseason or during the week. They should ride my
bike by on Saturday. But anyway, I won't.
Patriots and Cardinals were good to go with obviously Murray at him,
but what about Ron Dale?
It didn't work today.
It doesn't look great for him, right?
No, no.
Kyler's off the injury report.
DeHop didn't work today, do it in the illness, but he'll play.
Yeah, and that would be Dorch.
Yeah, he's good.
He worked today.
He took Ron Del.
He's good.
Yeah.
Dorch is good.
I've got a tough decision in the ACI.
I'm going to either look at Kendall Hinton or Dorch.
I'm probably,
I'm leaning Dorch over here.
So you won't be able to say,
help me, Ron Dale.
I know.
Well,
Dorch had like nine catches in there.
I know.
He's,
he's been a good story.
The head coach,
by the way,
just,
you know, loves him.
Oh, good.
Yeah.
Good, good.
That's a good one.
All right.
Well,
little Dorch coming at you here this week.
James Connor,
good to go.
with a lot of work in this backfield.
By the way, Waddle took all his reps today, so he's good to go.
Okay, good. Jalen Waddle.
Damien Harris, wow, doesn't look like we're...
No, doesn't look. He'd come out.
Same injury and he didn't work today.
That's not good.
And your boy, Jacoby Myers, too.
Oh, Myers has a concussion, not a shoulder injury, just so you know.
Okay. Jalen Mills at a practice, I see.
Same injury.
It hasn't worked since.
Some old line issues.
they'll be okay there.
The problem is they're a little bit hurting at receiver right now.
And Greg, you saw the tape of the Patriots last week.
You know, the week before it was great.
This is a week-to-week proposition.
They don't run the ball well, right?
They don't run a well.
Jones has been burning much week-to-week.
You know, look, we can always talk about,
oh, there's a lot going on with the Patriots and it's not good.
You know, that may all be true,
but you still got to line up and play the game.
and Jones has been very up and down.
He was not very good against Buffalo at all.
And he was much better the week before.
The week before that, he wasn't very good.
So we'll see what he is this week.
And that's a wrap here.
We've got six teams on a buy.
So we wrapped this puppy up in about 65 minutes, which is nice.
I don't think we really missed anything of note.
But I continue to check in on the site all weekend long, the projections, all my stuff.
Adam does his insider column.
A ton of content here to get you through it all.
And good luck to everybody in the final week of the regular season.
We'll wrap it up here for Greg Kosell and Adam Kaplan.
I'm John Hanson.
Once again, good luck this week and we'll talk to you next week.
