Hey, what's up? It's John Hanson. Brian Drake and I are back for another edition of the Fantasy Points podcast.
We break down all the action from Sunday in the National Football League Week 13.
Pretty good week overall. There were some little more scoring, so we're a little less grumpy.
Thank you very much. Pittsburgh and Cincinnati. We talk about that game. We talk about Mark Andrews being awesome again.
We talk about the Carolina Panthers being for real. A lot more.
as well. So stay tuned. We've got you for the next one hour, some entertainment, some review,
some hashtag analysis here in the podcast. As always, you are welcome.
All across the fantasy universe, welcome everybody to the week 13 recap show. I hope you guys are
getting a big W, getting ready for those fantasy playoffs. I know I got a couple of teams that
needed a win and I think we're going to get it. And I hope you guys are excited as we push towards
the playoffs. I'm Brian Drake, joined by The Guru.
route John Hanson. Hey John, we always talk about there's no scoring anymore. You know,
there's no guys throwing for 300 yards. Nobody's throwing multiple touchdown passes. We got it
in week 13. The offense returned. And I think we're going to be happy with the results here as
we rolled through game by game this Sunday slate. How you doing, pal? Yeah, I'm doing a lot better
because we got out of November. I did enough crying about that and whining. And you are correct.
It was a much better week. I don't know what it is about November.
I refer to it as the November doldrums.
I, again, have no idea what is up with that.
But, you know, I was really struggling with props for the month, you know, right around 500 for the month.
It seemed like every week.
I was like 8 and 8 or whatever.
I'm like, damn.
And on Friday, you know, I did the show ahead of the Friday Black Friday game.
And I'm like, you know what?
I'm going to make, let me just get me to hell out in November.
I'm not going to make any official picks because I'm cursed this month.
But if I was, yeah, I like Jacoby Myers, Brock Bowers, Travis Kelsey, Noah Gray.
They all hit.
So got no credit for it anywhere.
I didn't put them up on anything.
But right now, my top five props this morning are 4 and O.
So we're waiting on Khalil Shakir.
So it was a pretty good week overall.
We'll talk about it individually.
One of the things that I propped up,
was telling everybody, listen, Gus Edwards stinks.
There's absolutely no juice.
There's no reason to add Gus because he's going to do nothing for you in fantasy.
And it came to fruition today.
His Chargers did win 1713 over the Falcons, but Gus on 53% of the snaps, John, goes
six carries for 32 yards.
It's a nice 5.3 yards a clip, but I mean, this Chargers offense without J.K. Dobbins today
couldn't run the ball at all.
Khamani Vidal, four for 20.
there's nothing happening in terms of running the ball here it was all lad mcconkey who went nine for a buck
17 and then left with a little bit of an injury but no offensive touchdowns for the chargers and they still get a
win really wild game for l a yeah this was uh to start off that was one of the bigger letdowns of the
week for sure i thought herbert was looking good falcons had allowed the third most schedule adjusted fantasy
points per game to opposing quarterbacks of the last five weeks. Chargers were ranking top
five in pass rate over expectations since week four because of their running issues in large part
and I thought, okay, here we go with Dobbins. I think part of the problem was the Falcons just
possessed the ball a lot more with Bijon, who I was very high on in this game. So yeah, very
disappointing though I don't know where we go from here we'll see about Lab
McConkey other than Laid McConkey is unstoppable like it's unbelievable it's
unbelievable doesn't matter what kind of coverage shell at this point because I
didn't love him in this game because he hasn't done all that well against man I mean
it was incredible but hey oftentimes teams make adjustments and all that so they
they had a good plan for him I thought it would be more of a Will Disley game
much to my chagrin, the man only got one target.
So it was a very weird game in that regard.
You know, Mokonki's target sharing the damn game was over 50%.
I mean, that's very unusual.
How about both tight ends in this game between Will Desley and Kyle Pitts,
Gooseegas?
Neither of them recorded a reception.
That's insane.
Wow.
Oh my God.
Yeah.
Now, I didn't like, I didn't like Pitts based on schematics.
So that did hit.
But I did like Mooney.
I'm not sure what happened there.
I'll tell you what happened is four Kirk Cousins interceptions,
giving the ball away.
That would do what happened in this game.
Yeah, true.
I know Mooney was open one play.
You know, he threw him a ball at his feet, basically.
London comes through, but Bejohn, to me,
is like, man, he's been so good.
I know it's only 3.9 yards of carry,
but which is a little unusual because schematically it was a great matchup.
It was my number one prop of the week, actually, anywhere.
Like number one.
And it hit 26 carries for 102.
I thought he would actually do a little bit better.
But man, he's been crushing.
He also caught six.
This is why we draft young stud running backs whenever we get the chance.
It's not really working out for Breeze Hall.
But man, Bejohn is just, man, what a pick.
What a player.
And yeah, it's.
He's been so adorable, too, knock on wood.
It's great.
It's great have a Bijan, which I have him in our FBI.
But yeah, I don't know where we are here either.
We lost a little bit of trust here, at least with Mooney.
Not with Drake London, though.
No, but Carrick, he looked bad.
He looked lost out there.
24 to 39 to 245.
No touchdowns.
Neither quarterback throws a touchdown pass in this game.
And four picks, like I said, for cousins there.
That was brutal.
but a game you got to win. Maybe the zone just did it up for him.
I'm like the zone got him.
Basically, zone D got him.
Yeah.
This is a big week for turnovers and special teams plays,
playing a big, big role in the outcomes of games, none bigger than in this one.
So let's keep it rolling to a game that actually had some good action, John.
Pittsburgh, holy smokes, drops 44 on the Bengals,
effectively ending the Bengals season.
but this was all about Russ Wilson.
414 yards passing and three touchdowns for Russ on the day.
He finds pickens.
He finds Friermuth and Calvin Austin, who then later got injured in the game.
So those guys came through if you're looking for receivers.
And Najee Harris scores one on the ground.
So all your Steelers guys came through in this game.
It looks good.
Pittsburgh got a date coming up in two weeks of Philadelphia.
But nine and three, the Steelers are looking really good,
charging towards the playoffs.
yeah yeah it was pretty high on uh russ actually i played his prop on the site uh if you read hanson's hints
i had him as a matchup to exploit him and george uh i listed to him as a reach play along with
friermuth based on the numbers i mean it was a game where yeah pretty much every everyone
basically came through i even said today in our live stream that i really wanted to play a nausea harris
prop over the receiving
which he got on
one play but I
I just first play too
real early but you know he was just
so bad the week before it is a little
tough to bank on him but more often than not
he's actually come through for me
yeah yeah
it was a great day
I was very high on Jamar Chase's
chances and I got a little lucky there
he kind of got contained until that
last big play for 49
hit his prop which was one of my top
five so I got a little lucky there.
But yeah, Chase Brown
ripping off a 40-yarder
and doing solid
work, nothing crazy, but
you know, he scored, got 70.
So there's
13 points right there and he catches
three for 30. There's another six points.
Big day at the office here with a big workload.
Yeah, 82% snapshot
for Chase Brown and also
four other eight third downs. And more
importantly, he had all seven of their snaps
inside the 10 yard line.
So you're going to keep rolling him out.
You know, for the receivers, mentioned Chase.
Big play should have scored, got knocked out like the one yard line late in that game.
Could have had a second touchdown.
Higgins, 10 targets, five for 69 and a score.
Nice to see Gisicki.
I don't know anybody who's playing him, but goes five for 53.
Here's what I'll say as we wrap this game up, though, John.
Do you worry about the Bengals now at 4 and 8 kind of some guys packing it in making business
decisions going forward.
Yeah.
Yeah, a little bit.
Yeah.
Like, yeah, it's a great point.
Well, they're up against a team that's doing the same thing next week in the
Cowboys.
Yeah.
I mean, you know, look, you'd like to think these guys are professionals.
You know, if I'm T. Higgins, I mean, I don't want to put a sour taste in anyone's
mouth potentially being dissuaded from siding me next year.
I mean, but hey, put to your point, if there are a natural, if there is a natural injury,
then it's going to be slow as molasses.
Yeah.
Getting back.
I mean, they're not dead dead mathematically, I'm sure, but they're probably pretty dead.
Yeah, eight losses.
That's going to be tough in the AFC.
We're just getting started here on the Fantasy Points podcast.
When we come back, hey, these AFC sales.
teams, they love getting after each other. And we've been down on Houston for a while,
but they fought hard and got a comeback win against Jacksonville. We're going to talk about that
and more on the other side. It's the Fantasy Points podcast. All right, Drake and the guru talking
about all things week 13. And boy, the Houston Texans, they needed every moment of this game
to put the pesky now two and 10 Jacksonville Jaguars to bed. You know, the Jags come out. They're down
six nothing they fight and claw their way back. Trevor Lawrence gets knocked out of this game early on.
And John, I know you've got a fun story about that in the FBI. So here comes Mack Jones,
who's looked awful this season. Whenever he's touched a football field, he throws for 235 yards
and two touchdowns and almost brings the jags all the way back to win this damn thing.
But I know you and probably a lot of other folks out there lost out big when Trevor
Lawrence got knocked out.
Yeah, normally I would just roll with Brock Purdy in our FBI.
It's a 14 teamer, but we got that report from Pete Schrager.
I don't know, I guess was that Fox when he was working for, I guess,
because, you know, he's on good morning football.
And yeah, I almost texted Schrager.
I have his number.
I know him.
And I was like, what's up with this report that, you know,
not looking great for Purdy?
I mean, he's in pain or whatever.
whatever i didn't do it but i i went with uh i asked tom and uh graham on our live stream what their
opinion was they're like yeah lawrence i'm like yeah so then uh skinny batman was ruled out again too
yep so i'm like well i got to go pick up a receiver or start frigging kishan booty so i knew
jel and peter was out i knew that they were vulnerable i'm like you know what i'm going for it here
with parker washington i picked him up and i almost almost i got 28 points out of it or whatever
I mean, 22 or three.
It's like wide receivers are poor on the week.
Yeah.
Yeah, I had a feeling.
It's a good feeling when you get that.
And it's multiple times I've done this.
Even MVS actually has scored three weeks in a row for me.
Shocking.
It's the week of a hyphenated wide receivers, baby.
It's the year of the hyphen.
MVS.
Our guy, Westbrook or Kine, we'll get to him later.
But good year to have a hyphen.
Yeah, yeah. And I did kind of like Lawrence in this game. I know he knows this defense. He had success against it. I just had a feeling that their underneath inside game would work against Houston. And it kind of did. Brian Thomas has another solid game. I thought he was a good buy low guy, as I wrote last week. Doesn't have a big game until that 56 yarder. But at the end of the day, he gets it done. Now he scores. Ingram.
good to see and we'll see about lawrence i did think mac jones was a good backup for them it didn't
look that way for a couple of weeks but it sure as hell did today i actually saw it thought
etan looked better than usual not did you really know it but he had a couple of players i'm like
all right you know a couple of plays where he sniffed the goal on course
doesn't feel like he'll ever score in his life over on the other side um neko's the man
I should just play us over yardage prop every week,
but he got boned two weeks in a row.
I got screwed on props.
So I'm like,
oh, let me take a, not do it.
And of course, he hits it.
Now, I did like Tank Dell,
and he does not hit it.
Very frustrating because I didn't think it was a good schematic matchup for
Dalton Schultz.
It's tough.
We're trying our best to make these calls.
Jacksonville had been going back playing more man.
I don't think they did today,
because Schultz is terrible against man,
But there you go.
Sometimes the data, the data is almost worthless at times because, okay, here's our tendency.
We're going to react off of that.
And then the team's like, all right, good.
We're going to change our tendency and screw you up.
So it happens.
You know, that's the real danger and pitfall of this.
Like you could be absolutely stellar in your preparation and you're still wrong because
they're changing it up to.
try and win this week based on this opponent you know yeah talking more about the texans here is all joe
mixon 20 attempts 101 yards and a touchdown he's going to become the identity of the texans offense
now because they can't throw the ball to anybody not named neko you know it's you see why they
went out and they had to go get stephan digs because you know del can he's hit or miss
Metschi forget about it.
You know, he's lost at this point.
So it's this receiving game.
It's all Nico Collins and, you know,
it's a bad offensive line to begin with.
So they drop back.
It's not a good offense.
How about that?
That's a sign of a not a good offense.
For sure.
And hey, if anybody asks going forward,
like they got to play ETN or should they even roster Biggsby,
what do you tell somebody who's rostering a Jacksonville receiver or running back,
Excuse me.
Quit.
Take two days off, then quit.
I don't know.
I mean, they haven't been able to do crap all year.
I mean, Bigsby's had like one or two moments, games.
ETN's had like one good game all year, right?
I get guys asked me all the time, like, oh, should I start ETN?
I never do.
I'm like, there's no reason to.
Like, what is the game script set up where ETN is going to be that involved or ever score?
It's like in a year, in a world, in a year when backup running backs can produce,
it doesn't really matter that you're a starter and your Travis E.T.N.
Because G. L.N. Warren's a backup and he's way better.
All right. I got to get into the nuts and bolts here on your Minnesota Vikings.
They're 10 and 2. They beat the Arizona Cardinals 2322.
But, John, this offense in Minnesota looks awful.
They run today, Aaron Jones, five carries for 22 yards.
Sam Darnold, four carries for 22 yards.
Cam Acres, four carries.
Guess how many yards?
22 yards.
They can't run the ball.
Darnold does throw two touchdown passes later in the game to, of course,
Johnny Month is if we need that.
And then Aaron Jones catches one in the fourth quarter.
But it just looks, I don't know, it's a little disjointed to me,
right now. I know they're 10 and 2, but this offense doesn't scare me at all.
Yeah, I mean, you know, they did throw for 3.30 against Chicago last week with a couple of tuddies, 246.
I mean, he's hit 240 or more yards in like eight straight games.
I hear you, though.
I mean, it doesn't look great.
I think one of the reasons is teams have been doing a really good job on Justin Jefferson.
I know he got seven for 99, but a lot of that was late.
Um, very late.
You know, all of it was late seemingly.
So yeah, I mean, any given week, they could just stub their toe because their running game isn't totally consistent.
Neither's darn old.
And yeah, I mean, Addison has not been entrenched enough, enough of a staple of the offense to count on them.
But, I mean, he is a freaking number one pick.
And then Hawkinson, you know, sometimes you got to give credit to the defense, too.
You know, the Cardinals D has been pretty good.
It clogged the middle of the field, pretty good against tight ends.
But yeah, yeah, it is still a week-to-week proposition.
But if we're just going to box score analyze it, I mean,
Donald's putting up numbers every single week.
Really? I mean, he's had one bad game.
I was listening to Scott Barrett's podcast, School of Scott,
which I encourage everyone to check out on our podcast.
feed and they were kind of discussing, you know, what is the story with Jefferson?
And you kind of hit the nail on the head there.
It's it's so different because it's not Cousins.
Now, it's Darnold.
Donald is not afraid to spread the ball around a little more.
He's not force feeding and making the same decisions that a guy like Kirk Cousins was doing.
You know, as you see here, you know, Addison's going to get six targets.
Hockinson gets three targets.
There's nothing with him.
But it's like Jefferson doesn't have to be the focal point of the offense now.
They're okay with spreading the ball around a little bit.
Yeah, and there's good at production going around, but it's not a ton either.
And again, their margin for error is a little light.
But again, sometimes you just have to give credit to the defense.
I mean, they are 10 and 2.
The defense is great.
Having a career year.
Talk about Arizona a little bit here.
They just come off giving James Connor a two-year contract extension because that's what you do with running backs where we're about to be 30.
he goes for 68 yards, catches three balls for 13.
There was talk before the game.
It's like, oh, we got to get Marvin Harrison going.
It's like, yeah, no shit.
Of course you got to get Marvin Harrison going.
He does catch a touchdown pass in the third quarter here.
But, you know, 5 for 60, the touchdown saved him.
Trey McBride, 12 for 96.
He's just a monster, but he'll never score a touchdown here.
It's tough to watch this offense because I don't trust in Kyler.
And I just don't trust, I guess, in the play caller.
Kyler throws for 260 with a touchdown and two interceptions.
But it's a very wonky offense that for fantasy, at least we know where the ball's going, but you don't feel confident in it at all.
No, no.
I would say Kyler, they're playing well.
But the production isn't really there.
I mean, it's not bad.
But yeah, to your point, it's just kind of.
a school yard playground stuff you know second reaction spin out of trouble uh you know try some
first read things to Marvin harrison in particular and i did i was very out in front of that
uh granted it was a little ugly uh even before the comments about the head coach i'm like
because i it was a whole thing last week i'm like we can't stop we being the vikings can't
stop number one receivers talked about this last week with dj more uh so i went right back to the well
and i did play the prop uh one of my top five and it barely one well i say barely i think it won
about eight or nine yards but it did hit um and he did have a good game so that was that's the point
um and it wasn't a good schematic matchup but i leaned on that element and it worked so uh anyway
any way we can get right.
James Connor, of course,
freaking ran into a brick wall last week.
Much tougher matchup here.
So, of course, he ran for 68 yards.
He ran hard.
He looked good.
Yeah, but they are a tough watch.
There's nothing else going on here.
Tip Raymond, tip of a cap to you if you have him.
Enjoy your one for nine.
But Higgins got to get him in the ball.
I like Michael Wilson.
You can't trust them.
I mean, the 22-yard was a fluke play.
You got Dorch out there running around, playing snaps, getting one yard.
One yard?
I mean, you're right.
It's, it's, it is what it is, week to week.
Yeah, Benson's dead.
You had DiMarcato out there on eight of their 13 third downs.
This is a game.
Actually, if you're Arizona, you got to be upset that you lost this game.
Minnesota converts one third down on the entire game.
Arizona outgained him 406 to 273, but they were,
Arizona, it was penalized 10 times and turned the ball over twice.
That's a recipe for losing a game.
No question about it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Well, let's hit a timeout right here. When we come back on the other side,
how did Anthony Richardson do in a game without Josh Downs?
Who stepped up, if anybody?
And could they get a win in Foxborough against the Patriots?
It's the Fantasy Points podcast.
All right, John, the Colts go into Foxborough and win 25, 24.
It's a day where Johnny Taylor runs for 96 yards.
They were feeding him.
25 attempts on the day.
You love to see that.
He gets in the box on a receiving touchdown.
So we love to see that.
But I was wondering who can step up in this Colts offense without Josh Downs.
And I'm looking around, is it going to be Michael Pittman who goes five for 42?
You know, a lot of people were talking up A.D. Mitchell.
He goose egged you.
So it's, I mean, it was, I don't know.
It really was just on the back of, let's have Jonathan Taylor do his thing and let Richardson run around for 50 yards.
Yeah.
Well, Pierce scored.
Pretty sure Mitchell dropped potential big play, right?
Something happened there, but only two targets is worrisome.
I mean, you only throw it 24 times.
AR, I mean, you take away the two picks.
We would have been fine with only one.
09 slash two because that's 13 points you ran one in and now you're you're good yeah
actually it was he was good anyway right even with the two the two picks he probably got the 20
points right yeah anthony richards it's one of those guys where you're looking i mean he's like
tight end or excuse me quarterback like seven on the week in this scoring i'm looking at here on
ESPN he had 23 points okay there you go all right well that's the cheat code right there
didn't really love Pittman thought you know he'd be on gonzalez a lot i'm not sure that was a case but you know five for 42 wasn't horrible one great taylor's touchdown reception was complete flukiness but we'll take it uh we love the 25 carries on the other side i did like romandre yeah to go over his prop at least um that that worked he had a solid day here thank god for the five points in uh the receiving game so you know we got to
a 12 that's that's hey you're fine man this day and age where remandje you get 12 all right i'll take it
i did like henry i had a gut feeling though i didn't play his prop that hooper would be a factor
and he was uh but yeah that damn passing game is going through these these tight ends both of them
it's like i pitch a hooper over the last four games is like their freaking third best receiver
which is sickening but yeah i thought they'd get a little more of it's sure
Bob Douglas and he did nothing.
I know he was banged up coming into the game,
but four for 20,
he was good for nine,
10 points a week at a PPR.
Yeah, I know.
I know.
So, yeah, that's what I'm saying.
It's like,
well, they've been able to run the ball.
So, you know,
and May rips off that 41-yarder.
I'm like, you got to be kidding me.
I would never be so lucky to play an over
on a quarterback rushing prop
and it just takes off
and let me just go get this prop for this guy.
Thanks, buddy.
Easily crushed that on one jaunt.
A little stroll in the park.
Drake Mayfer Dynasty, though.
He's a guy going forward if they can get some weapons around him,
get an offensive-minded coach at some point because,
let's be honest,
this coaching staff that there now is not long for this world.
But, you know, like let's get somebody new who can capitalize on his arm
and his dual threatability.
I like Drake May for the long term.
The arrow's pointing way up on this kid.
yeah i mean he's moves well throws it well he's got moxie grit uh smart good leader he's got a little
pain manning you know to him in an aw shucks kind of good way that was when i was around drake may
i was just you know i did my observation uh and that was my takeaway i'm like maybe a more athletic
Peyton Manning. I'm like, all right. You know, but no, that wasn't that that was just my gut
vibe thing. He did have, you know, he was a little inconsistent in in college. So it was,
it wasn't easy to say, oh, he's definitely going to be good. All right. So here, here's what I said.
Over the last four weeks, here are your receiving leaders in points per game. I mean, forget about
one of the top three.
He's number one.
Austin Hooper
is their freaking leading
score with 37
PPR points.
That's repugnant.
I got to track him down
in the FPI.
This guy might be a deep flex
for me next week in the playoffs.
My God.
I mean, that is, that's terrible.
But Austin Hooper and Hunter
Henry just behind him.
But yeah, exactly.
Where the hell's
what's his face
Douglas
well he's not doing crap
didn't do nothing
wow more catches
oh my god
yeah let's move off this game
it's making me sick
speaking of making yourself sick
how about Seattle
this game was bananas
2621
the Seahawks go across the country
to MetLife and beat the Jets
now mind you the Jets were up
14 to nothing in this game
and then at one point
Aaron Rogers just misses a touchdown
I believe it was, I think it was Devante Adams in the corner of the end zone.
The next play, he throws a pick six, right?
Turns this whole game around.
All right.
Yeah.
It was crazy.
Leonard Williams, 92 yards.
It was 21 to 7.
It was about to be 287 and the jets are rolling, but it gets all wonky after that.
We had multiple fumbled kickoffs from the Seahawks.
We had pick sixes.
We had kickoffs return for touchdowns.
I mean, it was whatever craziness could have.
happened did happen in this in hansen tints john you mentioned how the jets are the second biggest
run funnel in the game this got me all excited as a ken walker owner i'm like hell yeah let's have a
big ken walker day ken walker gets 16 carries for just 49 yards out there i'm noticing that there's
goal line plays where zach freaking charbonne's getting the ball like what are we doing out here like
you can't trust ken walker anymore six weeks ago the guy looked like a world beater now you're like
Oh, crap, do I got to play Ken Walker this week?
Very little things you can trust.
I mean, I think it starts with the quarterback who is untrustworthy.
Guy has not thrown multiple touchdowns.
I think he's only done it twice all year.
Stron picks.
Was running.
That slowed down.
D.K. Meckhev seems to be playing hurt.
I did win a prop with him,
but it does,
it does in fact look like Smith and Jigba's
absolutely come on.
Somebody's got to,
because it's not going to be Tyler Lockett.
Forget about the tight ends
because Barner, AJ Barner from Michigan
is coming on a little bit.
Fanta Claus, you would think it's December.
I think the most frustrating thing
is you can't count of these running backs
in the passing game because, you know,
there was a time when,
oh, look at Ken Walker.
here we go. Nope. I mean, that's dried up too.
Yeah. And that's the problem with Seattle is just kind of a macro view is they're too good to draft a quarterback because they're always competitive with their defense and they just end up winning enough games.
So then it's like, ah, we're stuck with Gino and they end up giving him a contract. So now it's just you're this mediocrity that you can never get out of because you're never going to win anything with the Chicago.
Yeah.
I mean it's the Vikings with Kirkie for the most part.
It's what happened to the Giants with Daniel Jones.
It's like, oh, we made the playoffs with this guy.
Oh, shit, now we got to pay him.
So for the Jets, there was talk all week.
Hey, Breece Halls banged up.
Maybe he's not going to play.
Well, he did, and he got 12 carries for 60 yards.
Also caught a couple of balls.
But, you know, they were mixing in a lot of other guys here.
You know, Braylon Allen got five touches.
We're seeing this rookie Isaiah Davis, I believe his name is.
He got a carry.
Yeah.
So, you know, he looks pretty good out there, but...
He's scored, yeah.
Yeah, I mean, they're mixing him.
And that's what drives you crazy.
He was a senior bowl guy, yeah.
You know, you got Hall and he got Allen, and now you're mixing in Davis.
Like, what the hell here?
Like, that just kills you for fantasy.
Yeah.
And, by the way, Hall didn't catch a ball.
So congratulations, Breece Hall.
You got me six points.
Oh, sorry.
I was looking at Braylin Allen.
I looked at the wrong guy.
These dopes.
have ruined Brees Hall
they found away
these ding-dongs
with the Jets
Nate Hackett and all those other
meatheads
they have ruined
a and the complicated
fellow Aaron Rogers
he's a pain in the ass
they all these people have
ruined the peak
prime year of Brees Hall's career
I mean it's not over
but this is a beautiful
beautiful, beautiful year.
Year two coming off the ACL
and what is he? 23,
20, 24 years old
and these idiots have ruined it.
So thanks for nothing, guys.
I want to see what the hell
did the Jets do in the second half
of this game? I mean, they did
absolutely nothing.
I mean, it seemed like
boy, they were forcing it to
Adams a little bit,
which worked to an extent
but his
catch rate was still like 45% and Wilson wasn't much better at 50%. So the Jets had four possessions
in the second half. Punt, fumble, punt, turnover on downs. How does that happen? They were
about to be up 28 to 7 and they lose the game 26, 21, but regardless. Hey, we're a fan of the
Just go. Let's talk fantasy a little bit, though, with at least we're getting targets for these receivers, but you really got to pull back on Garrett Wilson. I mean, he, you know, it's, I don't feel comfortable starting him in any lineup at this point. It's, it's all Devante Adams. Now, he's without question, the first look for Rogers.
I mean, we were worried, I was worried about Devante Adams's ass just a week, just 12 hours ago. So I don't know. I mean, this was.
what happens when you stink though when when you devolve it's just like I don't know where to go with it
you know what I mean I would I would think you'd go to the young guy but seemed like Aaron was trying to
lean on his bra you know they did look vintage form on that touchdown run there's like a back
shoulder type of thing but they stink so let let's just move them all into like kind of desperation
category, even Brise.
Yeah, that's a shame if you spent a top
three pick on Bruce Hall. I know a lot of you guys
out there did. I did like them.
I mean, I had them right there with Bijan.
I had them over Bijan, I believe. Or maybe I made a last minute change.
It was so close. It was coin flip all year.
Fantasy bonanza in the nation's capital.
We're going to talk about it next. It's the Fantasy Points podcast.
All right, Guru. We're talking about
fantasy points being scored.
There was a lot of them going on the board down there in D.C.
As the commanders whoop up on the Titans, 42 to 19.
And this was just Jaden Daniels putting on a show, 25 of 30 for 206,
throws three touchdown passes, runs for another.
God bless America.
The kid learned how to run again.
He runs for 34 yards on nine attempts.
But this was just the commanders putting it to the Titans.
and, you know, everybody was getting involved.
Scary Terry, eight for 73 and two.
Zach Gertz, he doesn't have to get any yak
because he just catches balls in the end zone.
He scores.
And then here's the real interesting part.
So Brian Robinson, a little banged up,
but he still carries the load 16 for 103 and a score.
But Chris Rodriguez got elevated because Echler has been put on IR.
I thought it was going to be Jeremy McNichols getting a lot of that third downwork.
But Rodriguez 13 carries John for 19.
94 yards and a touchdown on only 30% of the snaps.
This was mostly all garbage time, fourth quarter stuff, 21 and 23 snaps from the fourth quarter.
If somebody's now, they go to the waiver wire, they see those numbers.
They go, oh, should I pick up Rodriguez because Eckler's out for a couple weeks?
What do you say to those guys?
No, because he would be more of the Brian Robinson.
I still would think that McNichols will play.
if they're down 20 nothing at the half like who's the hurry up back i say mickles or
robinson and not and not rodriguez so i think rodriguez was out there because rob
robinson you know did they didn't need robinson the the crazy thing is i really like robinson
last week died like a dog on his prop uh first freaking carry he he got rocked freaking ankle injury
it's like up i'm dead he tried to come back in the second half and did and they got hurt
again so i'm like well i was on vison today i'm like i am the absolute jinx on any of these
unders.
Because last week,
you know what my big under was last week?
Terah McLaren was a great call for
58 and a half minutes.
Then he had an 86-yard touchdown.
But Robinson,
I'm like, oh yeah, this is, I'm cheating, but
oh, yeah, we're going to do this.
40-yard run on his first carry
against a defense that
was really good against the run.
Like that made noose.
That was over anyone's pay grade
to understand how.
that O line and scheme would work against Tennessee.
I did not see that coming at all.
That's the NFL for you.
So the guru's tips there, guys.
Don't go box score chasing if you're looking for a tight end or excuse me,
a running back for the fantasy playoffs.
And oh, by the way, the commanders are off next week,
one of six teams with a week 14 by.
So we'll be scrambling again.
Make sure you get over to fantasy points.com.
Check out the waiver wire article.
That'll be up late Monday afternoon.
Quickly, though, for the Titans, you know, Calvin Redley was getting it done the last few weeks.
He sees seven targets.
It goes two for 45.
Hard to trust anybody in the passing game who doesn't have a hyphen in their last name because he does it again, baby.
Nick Westbrook a key eight, three for 61 and not one, but two touchdowns, John.
You just got to start him every week.
He's going to catch three passes, but he's going to score.
I mean, he just runs like these go routes and he just, I, I,
that's kind of like my game that's how i played when i was growing up you know just playing uh
i just line up out wide i remember that kid on the playground i just line up out wide and i'm just
going to outrun you that's it and i would i was faster than most and i could catch so that was it
yeah i guess i wasn't a complete play i was the nick westbrook at keeney of uh whatever uh but yeah
I mean, I actually did write today or yesterday that it could happen again.
I'm going to see what I wrote about that.
I'm pretty sure.
Oh, yeah, Commander's giving up the 16th fewest receptions,
but the second most touchdowns of targets with 20 or more air yards.
So this may not be the weekend to bet on Nick Westbrook Aquinae's run of scoring ending.
Yeah.
Yeah. I mean, if we're looking at the waivers and, you know, again, there's six teams off next week.
Westbrookine, Kene, only owned in 17% of Yahoo League. The kid has double digit fantasy points in five of his last six games.
He plays Jacksonville in week 14. He's at Jacksonville twice, now and in fantasy championship week.
This kid's got to get picked up. I know next week he'll go one for three with no, you know, touchdowns or anything.
but hey you got to kind of strike with errands higher okay yeah and by the way to your point like
it's not and this is what i wrote um he's got a touchdown and six of his last seven now it's seven
of eight on just 30 targets and what do you get today like seven um eight uh okay but he also um is getting a
pretty good uh lost my damn spot here hold on um he's also has
a good route participation number he's got an 88% route share and a 15.3 target share that's not bad no you know so it's not just the touchdowns yeah hey good call by the way and Noah brown I know a lot of folks trying to squeeze him in lineups you noted in Hansen hints how the Titans were really good against guys in the slot and he kind of came up small today three for 27 so great call on that
Yeah, all I do is I try and take a little bit of a position on every player of note.
So, you know, you're bound to get a lot of stuff wrong when you do that.
But, you know, at some point, I don't know, we can't just throw a dart.
You know what I mean?
You got to be decisive, you know, like to make a call.
Like, for example, I'm like, I don't like Schultz this week.
Guess what?
I've said that his last six times against man heavy defenses.
I've been right five of them.
not today.
Well, the number one running back on the slate, at the time of our recording, at least,
belongs to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and it's one, Bucky Irving.
Man, guru, do this kid look great?
He's running tough.
I'll be honest.
I was completely wrong on this kid coming out of Oregon.
I thought he was a scat-back, and he was just going to be a complimentary type guy more
along the lines of like a lesser version of Rashad White.
He looks phenomenal.
25 carries for a buck.
52 and a touchdown. He averaged 6.1 yards of carry, John, as the number one RB on the week. Bucks
win in overtime, 26, 23, over a very game Panthers team. These guys play tough. They're kind of,
they're coming around here. Yeah. Oh, yeah. We've got to watch, Philly's got to watch for them
next week. They're not going to go in there and lay down in Philadelphia. But let's stick with the
Buccaneers. Bucky just looks like an absolute monster. I can't wait to see where he's going to go in
fantasy draft next year
you know with you know he's still
going to have Rashad White out there and all this
but I mean hey if you got him folks
he better be in your lineup every single week
yeah man
he he looked great and has
looked great and I didn't think he'd
be this good either for sure
I did point this out
one of the matchups to exploit
there obviously it's a
was a great one
I'm like
Bucky Irvin gets the nod
since he led Rashad White and SnapShare and Rappshaer and
route share last week both guys looking better than usual hopefully Tucker doesn't
still another go line your boy um was very high on Mike Evans that was one of my top five
props did like Kate Otton so I guess clearly what we're looking at with with Kate
Otten right now is he's not all that with it when Mike Evans is there period yeah and
Mike Evans just a monster eight for 118 and a score he's he's the passing game
Yeah. Oh, so good. Yeah, phenomenal player. And I don't really see a drop off in his game, man. He's still just kind of the same guy.
I guess if you're in a deep, deep league PPR style, you can look at Sterling Shepard because he is getting a ton of targets.
You know, he gets seven more targets today for four for 42. I know he had some end zone looks. If he would have corralled one of that, he really could have came through for you.
but, man, Baker's a gamer.
I thought his career was over.
And then he went to Tampa Bay.
He's really resurrected himself.
He plays his ass off out there.
So good for him.
He does.
He does.
He was a guy that could look bad in a bad spot, could look good in a good spot.
For Carolina, Troubert Hubbard kind of falls on it today, 12 for 43.
He did have 53%, excuse me, 79% of the carries, including most of the third downwork.
But we did see Jonathan Brooks, 21% snapshot out there today,
three or five inside the 10-yard line.
So, I mean, maybe it's coming a little more.
Is this team, it's just kind of playing out the string,
but Brooks does get six carries for 18 yards.
The real story of this game,
how about Adam Thielen coming back from the dead,
gets 10 targets, makes a phenomenal one-handed catch in overtime,
gets 99 yards and does score on the day.
Is Adam Thielen worth a pick-up?
up.
Had another touchdown taken off the board, by the way.
Oh, I didn't see that.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah, I was all in on Adam Thiel and you remember last week on the serious show when we talked
way over a while.
I'm like, hello, dude caught 100 balls last year.
Hello.
No one cares.
I'm like news flash.
He was slow then.
He's still slow.
But he caught 100 balls last year.
I said that this morning, actually.
So, yeah.
I mean, I wish I, of course, I didn't listen to my own advice, but I mean, hello, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.
Quarterback is playing really well.
He caught a hundred balls here.
Granted, a different offense, but a lot of it with Bryce Young, and they just got a bunch of guys.
So, yeah, it would make sense that Adam Thielan's going to start getting a lot of targets, and it all happened.
It all came together here, right?
It didn't take long.
Again, I wish I had listened to my own advice.
I did play a prop of his I thought was ridiculous.
It was like over, I think it was over three and a half catches.
And with decent odds, I'm like, all right, I'll take that.
Yeah.
Crush that.
But Tommy Trembal, forget him.
I mean, remember, Jatavian Sanders was out and Coker was out too.
But I don't see how they would play Coker over Thielen at this point.
I mean, you want to ruin your young quarterback?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I played more in a spot or two.
Remember, he went off last week with, I think he had 10 targets.
He got another nine this week.
So he's out there running.
He's not explosive.
But if they're in comeback mode, you know, it's a good opportunity for him to catch balls.
Any of these past catchers, if you're dying, they're going to play Philadelphia next week.
They're probably going to be trailing in the second half.
So it's a good opportunity for you to get some cheap garbage time points.
Let's see.
Let's talk more some garbage second halves here.
How about Maddie Stafford having a pull one out in the big easy?
The Rams go to 6 and 6 with a 2114 win over the New Orleans Saints.
This is a game that the Saints were up 6-0-0 in,
and then Kyrin gets in the end zone.
So that's what we always talk about in the show.
Kyron's got a score.
And he did.
He got 15 carries, went over the century mark,
runs win in the end zone.
So shout out to Kyron.
But we did see Blake Corum get a little more run, John.
Eight carries on the week.
hopefully you got him on the bench,
but Matt Stafford was a big DFS darling.
I know a lot of the DFS shows were talking him up
because of his price and this game environment
with the Saints in the dome and their bad secondary.
He only throws for 183 and two touchdowns,
so it kind of lets you down here,
but it kind of is what it is with the Rams.
But how does Cooper Cupp only catch three balls for 17 yards?
I have absolutely no idea how this scheme could be,
I don't know
Is it
Are they playing man still?
It's it it's a little baffling here
How with these beatable
Corners and all that like and
Lack a pass rush
It was just a complete
I don't want to say failure
But it was just an entire team
Just a little bit of a letdown I guess I don't know
Puka will look fine
but yeah
very very simple
now he only throws it 24 times
but I thought he would
you know pretty much do whatever he wanted
but not even close to be in the case
in this one
and Kairn did look good again so he's not wearing
down but you're right
he doesn't need to score but yeah
that was just baffling but
you know at the end of the day like
Puka and Akua should get
15 touches every every game
like I agree good things happen when puka is around the ball and touching the ball good things happen
yeah so it's there's no excuse yeah there's no excuse for him not to get at least 10
10 opportunities every game every single game or else what are we doing here but I mean the good news
is they they give him that most of the time this is the first time I believe in Sean McVe's
head coaching history that he was shut out in the first half
They trailed six nothing.
So you know what?
I got a good buddy of mine who's a Rams fan.
And obviously the Eagles, who I'm a fan of,
played the Rams a week ago.
And he was texting me throughout it.
And he goes, you know,
the only thing that stops the Rams is their head coach and the play caller.
Because everyone touts McVe for being this great offensive genius.
But if you look at the struggles of the Rams over the last few years,
it's kind of like, I don't know, this paralysis by overanalysis.
like it's like he gets too cute.
They fall in love with the forward pass too much.
And I don't know.
It just there's something not vibe in here with this offense.
And again, Stanford only throws the ball.
He has 14 attempts on the game.
Hey, they got a way.
No, 14 completions.
14.
14.
Yeah.
So, 24.
24, yeah, still a bad number.
I thought they were in a good place, though.
I mean, I thought they showed pretty well against Philly.
They did.
Yeah, I'm always nervous.
That was just last week.
Yeah.
I mean, Cup to me and Pooka and Kua are just monsters,
and they should just be fed every single week
because they're unstoppable.
Because everybody, you know, plays zone in the NFL now,
and these two guys can just eat it up underneath.
But anyway, let's go.
With the Saints, Elvin Kamara,
I traded for Elvin Kamara in a league a week ago.
I gave up CMC and Lamb in a deal to get Kamara and Josh Adams.
And Kamara comes through at Flying Colors,
23 carries, 112 yards, also catches four balls.
Doesn't get the end zone, but that's okay because our guy, Marquez-Valdez, Scantling does.
But Alvin Kamara is a guy you can just count on every single week.
There's nobody else in this offense.
Taseom Hill was, you know, he's all over the place.
He gets hurt.
We'll have to see what's wrong with him, John.
So, I mean, we're going to get even more Kamara touches going forward.
Yeah.
The only concern I had with Camara was they had some O-line injuries.
but then again the Rams just got run over by Sequot yeah so the data looked pretty good
there didn't have him as a as a looking better guy but certainly didn't have him
buried by any stretch yeah I did have MVS as a reach I wrote that up Taysam Hill as well
but you know he said he got he got hurt nothing to say about Derek Carr but yeah yeah
MVS.
It's three weeks in a row.
He's like a poor man,
he's a poor man's Nick Westpickokine.
Hey,
you never know out there if Taysam's banged up.
By the way,
while I'm thinking of it,
while I'm thinking of it,
I don't want to offend anyone,
but screw it.
I called Drew Locke and I called him,
white trash,
Bo Nicks.
I don't know why.
That's just kind of,
that just kind of resonated.
with me. I'm like, you know what he is?
He's a white trash bone necks.
I don't know why that was funny.
This is the fun we have here,
Fantasy Points podcast. Hopefully you guys
are digging it. Hey, if you're still listening
to a recap show 13 weeks into the
year, you're degenerate or you're just big
fans of the guru.
We appreciate you here.
Last game we're going to talk about on the week.
My Philadelphia Eagles win their eighth
straight, and they go to
10 and 2 with an impressive victory.
the road against baltimore uh for the birds saquan does what sayquan does it's 23 carries a buck
seven and a touchdown and hey listen the eagles offense is very disjointed i say it on this podcast all
the time they win and it's impressive and tomorrow everybody on all the shows are going to talk about
how great the eagles are but this offense especially the passing offense is a struggle john it's
they could get the ball to a j brown anytime they want
to, but they just choose not to.
Nobody, you know, Nate Wiggins could not cover A.J. Brown, but yet he only gets six
targets on the day. Like, we got to feed A.J. more. And they desperately need Devonthe
Smith back, but that's story for another day. Dallas Goddard does score for you. And Jalen
Hertz throws for one and runs one in himself. So not a whole lot going on outside of Sequin.
But, you know, that's what kind of is what it is for the Eagles. And he notes,
Yeah, I mean, they are just a very, very run heavy offense.
That's it.
Like, no one else is stepping up at all.
And they've got an MVP candidate now at running back,
which, by the way, as you probably know,
the Eagles have never had a league MVP in their history.
I know.
Donovan McDab screwed year over year.
Trying to think of the Vikings,
um
Fran Tarkington won it in i believe 76
nah
uh but i think Peterson
win one
I thought Peterson may have won one
if only I was sitting at a computer and I could
Google this
uh yeah now I'm pretty sure
I think Peterson won one
let's take a look
I'm looking at him up
yep um
yeah
yep he was the uh
MVP in 2012.
How can we forget Alan Page in 1971?
Oh, did he get the MVP?
Alan Page in 71, Tarkington in 75 AP in 2012.
Wow, that's right.
I knew that.
Alan Page, that's impressive.
To win MVP as a D-Tackle?
I was going to say, I don't know who Alan Page is.
Oh, well, I remember him.
Well, he was part of the purple.
leaders he was probably the best one him and Carl Eller then he retired
became a judge no really guys a freaking legend yeah the Ellen Page project so
uh but yeah and by the way uh you know shout out to Godder he you know he's he did
all right you know but man like you would think oh it's Devante Smith's out like oh maybe
uh former number one pick Johan Dotson would nah same old one for seven i mean what is that in his
contract he's got to catch one ball for seven every week
this is a story for another day but
Philadelphia in the off season we get Mr. C on
here we could talk about this for hours
Philadelphia in the office I know they spent a third
round pick to trade for for Dotson they have
to get more depth at this receiver position
because they always have Brown goes out for a game
or two and then now we have skinny Batman's
out for a game or two and the the passing
game just shuts down so
Hertz came through
thank God he got to that running score
because 11 of 19, John, they don't want him throwing the football.
It's very evident.
I've said it.
People kind of look at these sideways.
Like, what do you mean?
They want to take the ball out of Jalen hurts his hands?
Well, he threw the ball 19 times, okay, against one of the worst secondaries in the NFL.
The Ravens were given up the farm to anybody who wanted to throw the ball against him.
The Eagles threw it 19 times.
What's that tell you?
Yeah, true.
True that.
Let's talk about the Raven.
I just go ahead.
I just can't get over how, uh, how, how,
worthless John Dotson is.
It's crazy.
Let me score like double-digit touchdowns or something as a rookie.
I remember having him on a team.
He was killing it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, I know.
Number one pick,
worthless.
We don't talk kickers much here on the show,
but we got to have a conversation here about one,
Justin Tucker.
Missed an extra point,
missed multiple field goals in a game that ultimately the Ravens lose by five.
I mean,
if he's your fantasy kicker out there,
He used to have that big leg.
He was automatic.
He's not anymore.
It might be time to take old yellow out behind the barn.
Well, he was a root and tooting fighter.
I'll tell you that.
Fancy free without a family tree.
But yeah, the Ravens, they're a little week to week.
But hey, shout out to Mark Andrews.
He looks great.
He's coming on.
He looked really good.
He's looked good all year.
Freaking likely, though.
gotta get you know so weak to week he dropped a second touch flower yeah even flowers is still a little
week to week but hey what are you going to do man lamar gets it done i was a little worried about this
matchup a month ago but he crushed because he got 79 yards um but yeah yeah i mean flowers
mandrews those are pretty much weekly guys along with lamar and henry and you know uh and uh and uh you
Yeah, that's it, really.
I mean, oh, I didn't like Bateman at all.
Where the hell?
What do you get to disappear?
Like Martin McFly's brother?
Oh, yeah, you got to hurt.
Hey, there was a, never mind.
I got to bring this up.
So if you were a Lamar owner, so you got the, you know, fantasy gods smiled down upon you.
So you get the ball back here with, I don't know, whatever it is, like a minute to go in the game or something like that.
And Lamar, let me see.
Where is this run?
Because Lamar throws a touchdown pass to likely, kind of in garbage time.
It was all over.
But then Lamar runs for like 50 yards.
So on the last, like 39 yarder.
39 yards.
So he goes 39.
Then he throws a touchdown in garbage time.
So he gets you, what, depending on your scoring, seven to 10 points just in garbage time on one drive.
Incredible.
But, man, he is so good.
I've now, John, watched Lamar,
and I think I've come to a realization with fantasy football.
I just want to draft Lamar Jackson every year.
Like, why not?
He does everything.
What else could you want from a fantasy quarterback
from what Lamar Jackson provides?
Yeah.
Yeah, the floor is really good,
and the ceiling's really good, pretty much is what it is.
Yeah, yeah.
Not much else here, though.
Derek Henry, I'm not sure if he hit his prop or not,
but hey, no score, but he, you know, gets a little bit more involved in the passing attack,
which is, which is weird.
Nelson Aguilor revenge game didn't work out.
Yeah, I know.
I'm trying to tell my son here who's 12 years old watching the game.
I'm like, hey, Nelson Aguilar was on the Eagles.
He's got a Super Bowl ring with him.
He's like, what?
Really?
Yeah.
He was high-fiving, you know, Zach Gertz on passing rounds in the, in the Super Bowl.
But, well, John, I think that's going to put a bow.
We're more cared about his girlfriend.
That's all I cared about was when he was.
in Philly that I don't know if you ever saw
I don't even know if he's still with this girl
