What?
Why are you shaking your head?
You're welcome.
This is the College Fantasy Football All Access Podcast.
I'm Eric Proton with Josh Havallier and, of course, our new guy, our new friend, J.D. Yankee, the legend, the 2022 college football 50 team champion.
We are blessed to have him here.
So thank you very much for joining us.
And off the top, I'd like to talk a little bit about strategy.
you can specifically get into deep leagues.
And this can either kind of go for dynasty or simply leagues such as Nate's dynasty.
Well, that is a dynasty league.
But Nate's 24 teamer, the 50 teamer, which we also just mentioned off the top.
And anything with really 16 plus team formats and kind of how you approach the waiver
wire.
Because where I myself, you know, Josh and JD have been able to derive value is after that
initial flurry of waivers, which happens Sunday night.
Monday night generally at the very latest Tuesday night, but usually you get them on Monday nights
here, which is why we're doing the show shortly from here. There'll be an initial flurry of
pickups. But after that flurry of waivers where you expend your waiver dollars, this also
value to be had in that secondary market of free agents. They don't cost any money and they allow you to
kind of get ahead of the marketplace at times. I look for a couple examples that I've had and the guys
have had recently that have kind of helped us get ahead of the market, save some of those
valuable free agent dollars that we can expend on, you know, needs and issues that we have
that pop up later while still accruing value down the board. So good example of that this week.
In every Dynasty League and every deep format that I pretty much had, we knew from week one in
Texas that the tight end depth chart we had assumed was going to be the case, was not the case.
Amari and I Black transfer from Alabama, the nominal starter, not the case.
Gunner Helm, longtime program guy, senior fourth year player for Texas, had taken the starting
reps. And while he only had 20 yards or so in his first game, week two, as we saw against Michigan,
was the centerpiece of that Texas passing offense. Gets 97 yards, a touchdown, seven catches,
was just used relentlessly similarly to how we saw Jutavian Sanders used last year. And that was a premium
top 12 tight end one position.
So that's something that I was able to do in the 50 teamer.
I believe in Nate's League as well in the Knicks,
Knicks winning edge league, again, 20 teams.
That was something where he was unowned everywhere.
And even though he didn't have the big production week one,
the depth chart sort of pointed to potential value down the road.
Josh, are there any players to come to mind
when it comes to using this particular strategy?
Yeah, you know, for me, not so much in Dynasty leagues, but in my redraft leagues this last week,
I took advantage of kind of the question marks behind Graham Mertz and his situation and picked up DJ Lagway,
not even in the initial waiver wire kind of run, but, you know, Wednesday, Thursday picked him up.
I was able to start DJ Lagway playing against Samford, knowing that it'll probably be a blowout,
but they're also probably going to play him the whole game and was able to do pretty well.
You know, he scored 30 plus points for me.
and now they're going to go back to a committee.
And, you know, a lot of people will drop them.
I would say, man, keep them if you have them,
or if you can pick them up again this week on the waiver wire
because other people drop them because it's going to be a committee approach,
he eventually takes over and is a starting quarterback there.
But DJ Lag was another one that won me weeks this week,
but cost me almost zero, you know, auction budget.
So it worked for me.
Jody?
I haven't been any big ones yet.
the kind of guys that would be keeping an eye out for guys have been targeting guys like Chase so well on East Carolina.
I think he has a good chance to be the wide receiver one, started the year banged up, probably could have gone week one, ended up going week two.
It's going to kind of slowly work his way back for a team that's going to throw it 40-something times a game.
So guys like that, maybe even a Josh Meredith.
If he gets dropped, you don't know what to expect from at this point.
But again, if you can get 100 targets on the waiver wire or the possibility of that, those are kind of some guys.
I'm keeping my eye out for guys that I think could get a really high passing volume, but haven't seen it yet.
J.D, one of the things I liked about what you talked about last week with your strategy of Waverwire is looking at the targets each week and soon has kind of a high either target volume or just got a good number of targets.
One of those guys from week one, we'll probably talk him on later, is like a DT Sheffield.
If you would have picked him up after week one, we had 10 plus targets, you would have read the benefits potentially of him this week going off and got him a week early.
So looking at that target share, target volume that other people may be missing out on is a really good strategy of doing that.
Sorry, I mean to cut you off, Roton. Go ahead.
Yeah, no big deal.
I was just going to say on the running back side, like you're saying about those committees, in week one before that started, I was able to grab Anthony Tias, who was in that 50-50 situation with Richard Hunt went for 2002 and looks at least have a pretty good hold on that job for Ohio, who is going to have to score more points.
their defense was absolutely ridiculous last season.
They graduated, I mean, they're like 125th or something returning production on the defensive side.
So they got to score a little more.
But just a couple examples that we had in the early going and just something to think about is to always kind of take that, take that step back,
take sort of an overview of the entire landscape of who's available and who's been dropped as soon as this flurry of moves happens,
especially in some leagues where there isn't an instant waiver period, know which leagues.
those are. Because in some instances, as soon as guys hit the wire, you can pick them right up,
right away. And there's no sort of waiting period. So I always try to be very reactive and know
when the time is where those moves go through. So that can be ready to pounce and say, oh, my gosh,
this guy hit the wire. He shouldn't be here. That's an oversight by this manager. Just because he missed
one week, you know, you can really profit from that. So that's another sort of thing I'd look at.
I guess, Josh, you can take us away in the next segment.
Yeah, man.
We know we've been talking about waiver wire here.
So we can get into week three kind of waiver wire transactions.
Ways this is going to work is you guys have already put some questions in the chat.
And so we'll answer some of those questions.
And then as we go, you know, in between if there's no questions,
then we can just give our kind of top QBs, running backs, wide receivers and tight ends that we have on the waiver wire.
And then we'll get into some other talk.
But before we do that, we're going to take a quick break.
And then we'll get into these questions.
All right.
Well, you know, the first question is one where I have to eat, just some stuff because I was hyping up Mr. Owen McCown last week, talking about how this guy's going to be a top 15 quarterback in CFF.
That was my hot take after week one.
And man, I very well might have jinxed Owen McCown because he, he looked terrible.
Didn't even make it past half time of that game before getting benched for Eddie Lee Marburger.
Unfortunately, well, I guess fortunately, he's going to be.
starting the Texas game, but that doesn't look like it's going to be any better for him
after last week. So maybe the ultimate jinx is on. Maybe Texas Tech or Texas State is absolutely
for real. And it's probably not as much the Bobcats as it is. Old McCown is a, you know,
it's probably a lot like, probably not as good as we expect them to be. I won't say what I was
going to say. It wasn't going to be kind. So, but we got a great first question here.
from Quentin. He asked,
Felton is available in my league,
Mr. Ty Felton, I assume.
Should I drop Jeremy Bernard for him?
Froton, you want to take this one first?
And then, J.D., you want to weigh in on this?
This is a good question.
Brutal, isn't it?
Well, welcome to college fancy football.
Like, questions that NFL guys don't have to field right here.
It's like, oh, yeah,
I want to drop a fifth, six-round pick for Ty Felton.
And the answer is, you know, 15 targets, 11 receptions, a buck 47 against Michigan State.
I actually, another good example of the very principle that we talked about at the top of the show,
in my C2C Invitational League, which, if you notice, I got my C2C action on here today, word up.
In my CTC Invitational, I picked up, or was it the Home Week, whatever, one of my, I picked up Ty Felton before the week before the week starts.
You only get five pickups per year.
I picked him up for free.
Same sort of a thing, the second waiver period,
because he went through once and then there was, you know,
nobody picked up Felton the first time around.
I threw two bucks on him, and I got him there.
When it comes to Felton, when I went to the combine a couple years ago,
I spoke with, I think I mentioned this before,
but I spoke with Keem Jarrett.
It was this year or the year before.
I think it was two years ago.
And I asked him, of the young receivers in the Maryland room, who's the guy that we need to watch out for?
And he immediately snapped called Ty Felton.
It was like, this guy's special.
He's young.
He's just coming in, you know, but he's somebody to watch out for.
And obviously, he had the 600 yards last season, but then here we are.
And he has looked like full grown.
Everything that Rakeem Jarrett sort of projected a couple years ago has come to fruition.
He's firmly on NFL radars.
Obviously, I went and picked him.
love. I only get five pickups and I'm like, one of them's got to be on Ty Felton. I think with that
situation, Ryan Williams, the emergence, how smooth he looks. Kobe Prentice is getting plenty of
looks. You see Law getting sort of manufactured touches. It looks like it's just, it's, it's,
it's around Robin. And with Felton, he's getting the full boat. So my God, I can't believe I'm in.
I think I'm in. I'd probably rather have Felton this. There we go. J.D.
Yeah, I would go with Felton as well.
And I need to eat some crow.
Last week I told everyone,
Felton could be a one-hit wonder.
So, uh, oops.
We're starting out well on this show.
Uh, yeah.
And here's the thing.
I'm totally willing to admit I'm wrong with Felton for reasons that, like,
we know he's had NFL potential.
Like, we know it's there.
We just haven't seen it.
We haven't seen the consistency.
We haven't seen anything in the scheme to give me any sort of reason to roster guys in
CFF.
But, uh, two straight weeks of doing that and how good he looked.
I mean, holy Toledo.
He's jumping off.
It's the numbers.
It's the tape.
It's what people said about him.
And I mean, I wasn't high on Bernard in the first place.
So maybe that makes it easier for me.
But I mean, yeah, at this point, if we're redrafting,
Felton's going to go pretty early.
Yeah.
I mean, the numbers are absurd over the first two weeks.
And then you see he's got UVA coming up this next week.
And was it Donovan Green?
This fact last week, we had like 11 catches for like 150 yards or more.
Yeah, he basically had the exact same stat line that Felton
had right felt in 1115 147 and one green 1115 15 15 15 15 15 and one I mean all
it's the exact same line so yeah so you know you're at least going to get another
great week of production and then you got Jeremy Bernard who exactly what you guys
said he might be just it might be a bike committee approach or Ryan Williams just might
take this thing and have a strangle hold on it but certainly Bernard is trending
down where our boy Taya Edwards is trending up for sure um so
So we, let's get into some of our top.
We'll go by position here, some of our top guys that we have at each position on the waiver wire that we're looking at this week.
So London top guys.
Sorry, that's for, that's for my guy London.
I love it.
I love it.
So top guys at QB.
Who do you guys got?
J.D., we'll let you go first here.
Okay.
Well, I think we haven't mentioned Eli Holstein yet.
So we talked about him last week.
Actually, here's the thing.
We talked about Holstein.
Let me do another one.
Anthony Calandria, quarterback Virginia, you're just talking about Virginia.
Defense is not good.
And we've talked about on the show, I totally agree this is the way I view these assets.
They may not be the greatest players in the world, but if they're going to need to score 35 points to win every single game,
they're either going to do it or they're going to die trying and get a whole lot of volume and maybe even be relevant.
So I like him.
He's got a great receiver in Fields to throw to who's going to be a stud every week.
he's got some great rushing ability.
I'm really liking what I'm seeing from Calandria.
It looks like he's fully got the job now.
I don't see any reason he lose it until he has one of those weeks.
We know he's going to have eventually.
But just hope he's not in your lineup when that happens.
That's awesome.
Well, even if he throws four picks, I'll throw two touchdowns at least
and have like 70 yards on the ground.
It'll be exciting, even if he busts for you.
Proton, what you got?
Yeah, God bless.
Anthony Caheed and Calandria, progressive rock legend.
I have wax poetic on him on these airways and others for seemingly months at this point,
and I absolutely adore him.
He deserves all the praise.
He gets wonderful call, Mr. J.D. Yankee.
And absolutely on my list, only 18% owned still, Eli Holstein.
All right.
Hey, guys, Kerwin Bell's kid, Kay Bell, 30 years old, absolute genius, 500 total yards per game last year,
seven and a half points per game. I talked a little bit about them last week, obviously,
but only 18% owned that has to go up and has to go up right now, West Virginia. Fine.
Kirk Francis, still had not 10% owned for Tulsa. And that's after they had a pretty darn good
couple of games here. And when I went and did my film work on Francis in evaluating that
QB battle, man, he came, he jumped off the screen. I know I talked about it a few weeks ago.
go. And it's really nice to see that sort of progression that he's made. I see no reason to
pump the brakes on him at all. He is a good, solid season quarterback that you watch the way
he navigates pocket, is calm, is in command of the offense, looks like he knows exactly where
the ball is going. Everything about him I was really impressed with. And as previously in the summer,
Zach Hall, as he has a set of rankings for schedules for specifically for fantasy purposes.
He ranked Tulsa as the 134th schedule.
In other words, the best schedule in the country for fantasy purposes in terms of the defenses that he's playing
and the likelihood of there being a lot of points and yards racked up.
So that is something I'm certainly looking at, only 10% owned.
And then as we had mentioned, somebody in the chat had also mentioned my man Leland from Oregon.
Maybe I'll get to see him this year up there.
He had mentioned Billy Edwards.
and I did a full film breakdown on him yesterday of his game against Michigan State
because I wanted to see Felton.
I wanted to see what was going on with all of that.
And dude, Billy Edwards is for real.
I am a believer in Billy Edwards.
I can't, you don't know because he was in the MJ Morris battle.
You don't know how it's going to shake out or how good he is because we really didn't have a look at him.
Oh, my God.
I feel like Talia was holding this team back.
Because I've seen him again at the elite 11 take a drink and was completely underwhelmed by him.
Billy Edwards is better than Talia Tago Vailo is the Big Ten all-time leader in passing yardage.
I mean, just in command.
He had three throws in the first two drives that were deep shots to Prather on the left side and then Felton on the right side.
Then I'm talking we're just inches away from being full on.
They're streaking naked down the side.
lines, bombs. And they were right there, like, good solid shots that just they were a little bit
behind on. Dude, they're getting behind the defense, these widows. Prather is no joke either coming
over from West Virginia. We talked about Felton. This is an offense that wants to throw anyways.
We know that that's how their script is always gone in the Loxley-Gadis era. Dude, give it to me.
I'm in. I'm in. 3% owned on Billy Edwards. He has to be respected. Yeah. You know, what's
interesting with with billy edwards is that he had a really good bowl game now was against
auburn last year so that's not the greatest competition but i thought he looked great in that game
it was really interesting that even the mj morris quarterback battle was even that close and maybe it
wasn't they were just being coy behind closed doors and we just didn't get information on it
but i'm with you on them billy edwards i think dude's got a lot of potential
clearly's got some target with do it the genius darius darian mensa again another guy
I mentioned, no, I'm not sure if I mentioned him on this show or if it was on the Saturday show,
but I did film work on him to heading into that Kansas State game because I was like,
all right, is it 150 and a half passing yards?
Let me get a look, see.
Is there potential to potentially take an under?
As soon as I watched that tape of his first game, it was like, oh, I'm not taking any unders or Darien Mets any time soon.
No way.
Kit ran that offense.
I mean, he was really, really good and made some throws that were difficult on the move,
having to reset his feet.
I mean, he, and against Kansas State, he did have a little bit, there were a couple of throws
that were more rhythm timing throws, like the quick slants where he sailed a couple of them.
But, I mean, for the most part, his command in the pocket and the way that he ran that offense,
I mean, he showed balls the whole time.
the last throw he had was sort of he tried to hit a back shoulder fade at the front corner in the end zone and the receiver didn't convert it.
But even that was a good ball.
Even though it was an interception.
They're right there the whole way.
Man, I like to S.R. Darien Metsa highly recommended.
Only 3% owned as well like Edwards.
Yeah, he's definitely a guy that seems like he could be a gym on the wave wire gym and DFS for those of us that play that.
I mean, he's a guy that 342 yards passing last week.
I mean, really, you know, you have a couple turnovers that dinged them a little bit.
But overall, man, solid game and he's a cheaper price guy.
I think even this week is going to be like 6K going up against Oklahoma,
who, you know, looks like they can be scored upon potentially this year.
So, no, I like that a lot.
My guy is a guy that's also pretty deep cut here.
But Tyler Huff from Jacksonville State, he's 1% owned.
He split time first week with Logan Smothers.
RIP Logan.
I don't think that twice.
Logan has started the year for Jacksonville State.
Twice he has been benched by the second half of the first game.
So here we are.
Tyler Huff,
though,
18 carries for 101 yards last week against Louisville.
Now,
look,
Louisville blew him out.
So you got a lot of garbage time where he was able to maybe pad some stats.
But I think he had 18 carries and the rest of the running backs combined had like 13.
I think he had 101 yards and the rest of them had like 30.
So we know what our boy, Rich Rodriguez, can do with a mobile quarterback,
that he can definitely have guys like a Tyler Huff that can put up stats,
particularly against inferior opponents.
And quite frankly, the Conference USA is just a bad league.
And so this is a guy.
Again, it doesn't have to be good.
But if Jacksonville State is going to give up 40 plus to Coastal Carolina,
then they're probably going to, they're probably pretty bad on defense.
And so I imagine he's going to have to.
put up a lot of points, probably a lot of rushing attempts, especially with Ron Wiggins out
at running back too. So again, Tyler Huff, you're not going to have to spend much on
him. Nobody's going after him. So I pick him up, you know, spend a little bit of fab and, you know,
just see if you can hit. You can sit on your bench for a couple weeks. Yeah, our boy Leland over here
said, Ty Thompson, who? Man, wow. Adios. Taking a fall. Shane, Shane Whitehead,
but over here.
He said, don't be dropping Clubnick shares.
We got the boys playing my receiver now.
I know Shane's been dying to make this tweet all weekend.
You have the last 48 hours, absolutely, and well earned.
Well earned.
Hey, I mean, what is it, 24 of 26 for like five touchdowns?
I mean, 42 nothing, middle of the second quarter.
I mean, they were cooking.
So look, maybe Kate Clubnick has to stand a corner.
My heart would be happy if that happens.
But we'll see.
I don't know if you guys caught the Ab State game,
but Shane wants to know if you guys saw Westco's speed being shown off by catching Mapa on that 80-R-T-D run.
Because that's your boy, Mafa.
That is my boy.
But Mapa is like 230.
You know, Westco is a cheetah.
170?
Yeah.
He's very, very light.
I mean, he's fast, obviously.
No doubt.
I can't wait to see him in person in two weekends.
It'll be, yeah, 11 days.
I'll be there at, uh,
in Clemson.
Hopefully I'll be hanging out with Shane.
We shall see.
There we go.
And Leland says to Shane's credit,
he was telling us all week this was going to happen.
And to be fair,
I do wonder,
you know,
obviously Klebnik has his own problems,
but having outside wide receivers
that are competent and capable,
potentially in Westcoe and then if T.J. Moore can really step up.
I mean,
those are two kids that can play some ball
and pair them with Antonio Williams.
And that could be a formidable,
wide receiver crew and at least we can figure out whether
Club Knicks the problem or it's a receiving core,
you know, chicken or egg type deal.
But fun to see.
I think that's it I got on QBs.
You guys got, what about running backs for a time?
We'll start with you.
Any running backs that you want to,
I know you got at least one on the tip of your tongue right now.
Yeah, I got a few of them.
Yeah.
Henry Parrish, obviously, we're getting just the more general.
I'll start with the easy cuts here, 23% owned.
Ole Miss, if you're leading that backfield, they're scoring 40 points a game.
That's happening.
You want to have whoever seems to be the number one,
and he's leading the committee at the current moment.
Dante Dowdo, 17 carries.
You've got my attention, Mr. Dowdell, 20% owned.
That was kind of a Gabe Irvin, him.
Ramier Johnson, how is this going to shake out?
Hey, they just bowled over Colorado, fine.
I mean, for the shallower leagues, they're still out there.
Great.
And the deeper cuts, Braden Bennett is still only 8% owned.
CCU has Temple this week.
He was banged up a little bit.
But anybody who's playing Temple?
Hey, if you need a short term, you know, to gas it up a little bit and you're a tight spot at 8% owned,
it could be worse in a 14-16 team league if you're still out there.
I've seen him a couple.
I like Kelly Joyner, running back USF to playing Southern Miss.
He's only 6% owned.
He was only 0.0.0.0.0.
4% owned at the start of the season, had a nice week one.
It's always been just a question of health for him.
They're playing Southern Miss, obviously, against Alabama,
I wasn't able to do too too much, but he's still out there getting carries.
I think in deeper leagues, he has to be monitored.
And if you have a sort of a spot that looks like it's worth turning over,
I'd look at him.
The real, the good Kanye, the real Yeezy, Kanye Udo for Army,
it's getting 15 a game.
in Army and he's going to get those goal line carries and pound it.
If you need a high floor option, I think they're worse.
And for the Dynasty
Dynasty 2% owned, AJ Turner, running back Marshall.
He's been the best guy in the room.
I can't stand it.
Jordan Houston is a player props, All-American last year.
Player props, All-American.
Not all-ACC, All-American.
He was in automatic fade every single week for North Carolina State.
I have no faith in him.
Maybe Ethan Payne's the guy, but look, he's all playing pain.
There's nothing wrong if you have a 40-team roster, a 40-man roster,
especially in the Dynasty 4-8.
He's a sophomore.
You take a shot on AJ Turner running back Marshall.
Yeah, I mean, just the efficiency of that guy, 14 carries for like 22 yards.
I mean, what is that like 15 yards they carry?
It's crazy.
Absolutely insane.
sanity has to prevail.
All right, J.D., what you got for us?
I got a few.
Rob J. Harris running back East Carolina.
I'm just kind of all over the East Carolina.
guys is cheap. They're going to run a lot of tempo and nobody really talks about it as offseason.
They were pretty much all three. And if you get 26 carries and you're a veteran and your
quarterback's throwing four picks a game, maybe you're going to lean into that a little bit more and
they got a nasty defense. So I don't know. He can see some decent work. I think that's a good sign.
Because we know JV. Spahn behind him is a real explosive player. But if you're willing to go
to your veteran 26 times in a close game, that's a good sign for me for sure. George Pedaway,
I know that's Josh's guy, but for James Madison, the running back, we know he's explosive.
He hasn't gotten a huge workload, but he led the room last week and he got a few catches.
And he could do some serious damage if he gets about 15 touches a game because we know he's a great player.
And then on the other side of the, you know, the marquee matchup of the week, apparently what I'm tuned into,
the other side of the Old Dominion East Carolina matchup was Aaron Young.
I believe a Rutgers transfer at 16 carries last week, 20.
five this week. You're going to get that kind of workload.
You know, we saw Cadarie's Callaway kind of explode at points of last year when he was healthy
enough to get carries and Young's not that explosive of a player.
But again, this Decker offense, like they're probably going to have an asset or two most
years and the offense isn't playing out very well.
And the passing offense isn't doing much.
So maybe Young can keep racking up some decent carry.
So just some really cheap, low-owned guys who could help fill out a roster spot.
Yeah, now that I like that a lot.
Guy that I was looking at this week was Brayden Sloan from Ball State.
I went in there, I think I had 27 touches, 149 yards and two touchdowns.
I think it was against Missouri State.
So competition wasn't great.
They played Miami this week.
So you're not going to be able to play them there.
But, you know, they had a buy week one.
So where most teams have two buys this year for the rest of the year, they only have one.
And it's pretty much, I mean, Maxian from here on now, they play Vanderbilt.
But still a team that you can run on.
So Braden Sloan, again, FCS All-American last year as an all-purpose back from Eastern Kentucky comes in at Ball State.
We know the, you know, Carson Steele, I believe, man, Marquess Cooper, I think got some run there as well.
So we know this is a team that would like to run the ball if they can.
So Braden Sloan at 5 percent.
I like him.
and then, you know, Cam Porter from Northwestern.
And maybe, you know, it was just...
Dude, he looked awesome.
Yeah, this last week.
It looked awesome.
It was like a different Cam Porter out there.
Absolutely.
I thought the same thing.
Yeah, I mean, yeah, it was fun to see him.
And, you know, I had the other back Hyman that was out there, too.
That was looking pretty good, but a smaller guy.
But Cam Porter looked like he was really healthy, right?
It's been a long time since we've seen him that way.
And the line looks good, you know?
This is here, too, with him.
David Braun, you know, the new head coach coming over from South Dakota State.
And they have a new offensive coordinator who was the FCS off the coordinator of the year in 23.
So it's not like, you know, they have, they have a serious staff that's coming into replace fits.
And they had really an experienced line last year that they at least have some stability now.
And it showed.
It certainly showed because they were getting more push.
And it was certainly made things a lot easier for Porter.
We wasn't dancing in the backfield.
So you had a chance to get a little bit of YBC's little yards before contact.
Yeah, for sure.
Here, Leland said, Cam looks so fresh.
I agree.
They do have Eastern Illinois coming up again, I mean, this week as an FCS opponent.
So you're talking about even if you're just picking them up for one week, I mean, he's a guy that could really score 20 plus again this week.
It could be good for you.
We got a lot more waiver-wire talk.
We got lots of questions here.
I'm going to take a quick break.
And then on the back end, we'll answer some.
of these questions. All right, a question here. Let's start with a little Sloan or Tyos.
Which one would you prefer? So we have, you know, Anthony Taiyce was the big back week one,
comes back last week or this week. Still has, I think, 17 carries for 74 yards and a touchdown.
So still produced. Which one of these guys, both matching guys? So who do you prefer?
Ball State, Sloan or our boy from Anthony Tice from Ohio?
It's tough. You're really trying to parse usage at this point. You know, I haven't had a chance to watch both of them in their entirety. I will put that on my docket for this, this upcoming week. I try to watch as many guys as I can if we're going to talk about them here. But just out of the, my gut tells me Sloan, simply because we've seen the archetype at Ball State. How many years in a row have we seen they love the one guy. And even though Tias has shown that he's, you know,
he looks like to be the one A, which I think is pretty safe, still got hunt there.
And they'll still rotate three guys where I suppose the ball state intend to have the Carson Steel model, right?
They find a guy that they like and they pound him.
So I lean Sloan.
And, you know, to that point, I believe that Sloan caught 40 balls.
I'm going to put it out there.
Don't worry for a time.
I think he got 40 passes last year at Eastern Kentucky.
Somebody correct me in the chat if I'm wrong on that, but 40 passes at, he's 210 pounds.
I mean, this is a big boy that can carry the load.
And in the PPR leagues, he'll have lots of value.
And yeah, he is the guy versus sharing that.
What about you, Jad?
Do you have a preference between these two Sloan or Tyos?
I'd still go Tyos because one of these guys ran for 200 yards on an ACC team.
One ran for 100 on Montana State, I believe.
I agree, though.
If the usage keeps up, like if you change in my tune,
real quick. The ball state game's just weird, man. It was a total shootout. And I did not project
ball state as a shootout team. And I don't think Max going to be a lot of shootouts could be totally
wrong on that. But that's not how I've had them projected. And then the guy I projected as their
wide receiver one got hurt on the very first play of the game. So it's hard for me to tell what
ball state's going forward. But yeah, I mean, catching that many passes, he got six passes. And now
if the wide receiver one's out, and you catch five balls, that's a weekly starter.
Yeah. Yeah. Bringing the context.
love it, J.D. You know, little, little intermission here. We got a Shane Whiteid saying that a
Froton 1, 21 to 2 tonight in softball. Did this actually occur, Froton? And was Shane actually
pitching to you as he is saying in the comments? No, no, he's joking not to me. Shane is in
Clemson. He's just telling us that he had a softball game. If I were to have a softball game,
it would be right now at 6 o'clock. It's 6.38 p.m. here on the West Coast. So my, I wouldn't,
it wouldn't even be starting.
until after this.
So I know he's just something,
because everybody knows obviously himself.
Yes.
And I actually am eight for my last eight in softball.
Woodbat softball, mind you.
We just went nine and three in the regular season,
number two seed,
but we beat the number one seed already.
And heading into the playoffs this on Thursday.
Well done.
And I can say my hit,
I've been on the ball.
I've been stroking it because,
frankly,
I played a lot of wiffle ball over the,
the past like month and a half.
And my head I poured is just like super natural at this point.
There's so many whiffle ball swings I've taken.
I'm seeing the ball so cleanly.
It is, it has done wonders for my softball swing.
But I do have to give wood bat.
Hell yes, Shane, wood bat.
Only real men swing woodbats.
And if I had known that you played Monday nights,
dude, I probably would, I probably would have extended my,
my my my NC state Clemson stay maybe an extra night so I could have played in your softball league.
If I had known buddy before I booked my trip, we could have made that happen.
Imagine the magic.
That's awesome.
That goes for anybody else.
If any of your listeners are in a softball league that play on a Monday night that is around a destination trip, I'll be taken on a Saturday.
Let me know.
And we'll do a special or listener softball time.
I promise.
That's in.
There we go.
And you get eight for a wood bat frotone.
There we go.
Yeah.
All right.
Let me ask,
let me ask this question because I think similar but different.
So Super Shallow League, there's Braden Sloan, Henry Parrish, and Jaquinn and Jackson on the waiver wire.
Who are you guys going?
Jady.
I'll let you answer this one first.
Go Sloan won.
Jaquinted two just because he always gets hurt and he got hurt again, but somehow managed to get a million touchdown still and then Parrish.
What JD says about Jaquinnon Jackson is exactly the right call.
It's like, what am I saying in a vacuum?
Jaquindon.
Yeah, if I can guarantee health, I'd rather have DeQuinden right now.
Sure.
But that's why we took, I took the under 825 and a half Russian yards
in Quentin Jackson on the season long because how can we depend?
He has such a violent, rugged running style.
He's not an elucid.
You know, he'll dodge a tackle.
too, but he's taking hard contact
and he's delivering hard contact.
But there's a toll that's paid
for that sort of a running style,
that aggressive style. And you saw
it happened, you wore down last year. You saw it
happened with Rahim Sanders last year as well
for Arkansas. So
I do have questions
about his durability. So
look, if you think that Jaquinnon can hold up,
I have no problem with preferring him,
but I'm going to go
with JD. I'm going to take
Sloan. I love it.
I love it.
Last one here, and you guys can be quick on this one if you want, but we talked about
Dowdell.
Is he going to break the RBBC there in Lincoln by week five?
Is this a prediction, Froton, from you on talking about him a little bit earlier,
hyping him up a little bit.
I really do like Dowdell.
Let me, Irvin didn't, I don't think he played last game.
That's a factor too.
You know what I mean?
If Irvin's out and you got the Ramier Johnson, he will have that sort of scat-back,
all-purpose role.
I think he's pretty, pretty sure.
sure he's got that sewn up.
It's a matter of how those carriers are distributed.
And it looks like he's kind of taken Emmett Johnson out of the fold, taking that pretty clearly.
I don't see what happens when Irvin comes back.
So I don't know if he'll break it by week five.
It kind of depends on health to me.
Yeah, that's good.
I think Leland is asking as a former Oregon duck there at Nebraska.
I have shares in Dowdell.
Sure.
Yeah.
I'm not disappointed about it either.
Yeah, for sure.
Love it. Love it. Let's move on to wide receivers. You guys, JD, I think we let one two first, last. So Froton, you want to go first on your preferred Waver Wire option at the wide receiver position.
Well, I'll give a few, and then I'll break and let me and go. Trevor Pena. I like the Trevor, the B. I like that. And at 30% owned, look at Syracuse. Turns out they're going to throw
the ball a lot. Kyle McCord getting out of Ohio State proving that, like, even though he only
led that passing offense to around 3,000 passing a 30 points a game, whatever it is, he's a
competent quarterback. Put him in the right system. He can do it. And in typical Syracuse fashion,
they never disappoint the guy we think is going to be the guy at Syracuse. Is never actually
the guy at Syracuse? It's like a time honored tradition, it seems. My God, I could go back and
name the guys, but I can't even remember who they are, because they're all so insignificant.
Editawa, you know, Courtney Jackson.
Anybody see Edatowal?
Courtney Jackson.
What is going on with this team?
So, of course, Trevor Payne, I love the name.
But he looks like the number one guy.
Dude, I want the number one guy in this offense the way they're conducting it with that pass rate.
We mentioned Donovan Green.
Wow.
Has to be, has to be owned immediately.
Only 17% own.
Has to be over 50% own.
get him in literally any league.
Case of the mumps,
and out of Mumpfield, again, we mentioned
Holstein, Pittsburgh, only
20% owned, go out. You should be
at least 50% owned. That's somebody who has to be
respected and in their good offense.
And then I'll go from my
deep shots after you guys go.
Love it. J.D., what's you got?
Christian Fitzpatrick.
I'm sure everyone saw him.
I guess no one watches Sports Center anymore, but
on Twitter,
he made that crazy one-handed catch.
wide receiver. So we knew Marshall was moving more towards an air raid, but again, what does that look like?
We got three different quarterbacks that might play four of them. One of them retired before the season started.
Running back, yeah, we're like an AJ Turner, but three different guys there. And then wide receiver,
it's like who really knows other than Elijah Metcalf. But Elijah Metcalf is like a five foot six slot guy.
And Christian Fitzpatrick, it looks like the outside guy at 13 targets and turned him into some good work against Virginia Tech and made the play of the weekend.
while doing it.
So he looks really good to me.
Dalyne Cobb, I'm not sure how available he is.
I didn't check, but he's a guy.
I love Onan.
That offense, I mean, I love the slot in that offense.
And he is still kind of rotating some time with Josh Dallas.
I don't love that.
But I love Daly and Cobb.
Even going back two years ago, I remember the wide receiver coach interview.
And he's just, he's raving about Dailen Cobb in the screen game because he was
converted quarterback from high school.
and I'm like, I got my eye on this guy, because if he catches five screens, nobody's going to own him.
Now he's a complete wide receiver.
It looks like to me, he's going up, he's winning jump balls.
He's in the end zone.
I think he's got a lot of potential.
I think he could be like a Caleb Hood kind of guy, maybe slightly less volume, but still very good.
How about Nick Marsh?
Okay, I don't know if I'm picking enough.
Nick March has to be mentioned.
Absolutely.
Wow.
Wow.
Four yards and a touchdown as a true freshman in a big 10 game, a competitive big 10 game.
Wow, him and Aiden Childs, they're just going to keep growing that chemistry.
That's impressive.
And Earl Harris, I could not believe.
I just saw him available in the 50 teamer.
I was kicking myself.
What am I doing?
Because all off season, I've been talking about, why are people drafting Chris Tyree?
He's not good at football.
He drops his first four passes in a Virginia uniform.
I've watched him play way too many games at Notre Dame.
He can run fast in a straight line.
He stinks.
So why am I sitting there saying that?
And then seeing these reports about Trail Harris being the clear wide receiver too.
And why am I just letting him go unowned in all these leagues?
He's 1%.
It seems like kind of a freebie for an offense.
We already talked about that we're in on.
So I finally got a little worked up.
I got a little excited talking about these wide receivers.
I'm like it.
I love it.
That's what I'm here for.
Absolutely.
You know, that's amazing.
That's amazing.
Well, real quick.
Yeah, somebody says, blame Josh.
Yeah, I was, I apparently I didn't watch enough Chris Tyree to know that he,
can't catch passes. So, uh, I got,
I got enamored with the speed. I was talking about 100 meter times and, uh,
his one has got me. Uh, Shane though asked about Claiborne. And yeah, man,
I think pick him up, right? I think he had 22 carries this last week, 84 yards, two touchdowns.
Uh, I think the dude is going to be a focal point of that offense for sure. Uh,
another guy that has a fast, fast, uh, 100 meter time. So be careful there. But I like
Claiborne. Uh, at wide receiver though, yeah, I mean, we mentioned,
him earlier, but Donovan Green at 12% at Wake Forest. I mean, he just had a monster game,
11 receptions for 166 yards and a touchdown. He's the, I mean, he's kind of the same thing as
Jaquinnon Jackson. If he's healthy, I mean, Donovan Green can be awesome in that offense,
but he's got, sorry, he's got to stay healthy in order for him, you know, to be on the field
and to make plays. Also, Hank Bachmeyer's got to be able to stay healthy too. So,
you need one guy did not have a concussion Hank Bachmire and one guy not to blow out a knee again in Donovan Green.
So, but then another guy is DT Sheffield from North Texas, right?
Two back-to-back weeks with double-digit targets, pretty much identical stat lines of seven catches for 74 yards and a touchdown.
And I think I had three touchdowns this last week.
So I had a really good game.
I mean, again, 40 plus pass attempts for North Texas in both games this year, awful defense.
they're going to have to check the ball around.
So there's enough targets to go around for him and Damon Ward to eat.
And I believe that D.T. Sheffield is at 7% owned.
So, yeah, a couple guys for us.
Did we hit on your deep cut Froton or did you have somebody else you wanted to give us?
Was it Marsh?
In fact, Shane mentions him.
The Mac Dad will make you and the Mac Delana will make you jump, jump,
as Chris Cross once said, 8% owned, increased by 7.7% completely irrelevant in the preseason and overlooked, even though he was a starter at Fresno State.
And we covered the starter there, Mikey Keene. Not a lot of guys go by Mikey anymore. I respect it.
And really like the profile for Keene and a lot of what the advanced numbers said about his potential for success here.
If you look at Delana, he went absolutely buck wild this week.
And if that's, if he's going to be the top guy and the top dog in that offense,
hey, I want it.
235 and 1, 10 targets, 7, you know, receptions.
It has to be on your radar.
It has to be respected.
A little bit further down, look at high floorplay, Giles Jackson, props to Purple Rain, Joe Arpaise.
So he is a program guy for Washington.
mentioned the efficacy of Mr. Giles Jackson, how he, I mean, 16 targets, 16 receptions.
If you want a hot floor guy and you're like, hey, I'm in some trouble.
I need somebody I think is going to be able to at least get me 15 points.
He's not a bad option at all.
I mean, given what we're dealing with here.
And how about the resurrection of D.T. Sheffield?
Welcome back, my friend.
A post-hyped sleeper, like, of the highest order.
I mean, a top 10 round pick last year
And all the best balls
Completely falls on his face
Goes over to Eric Morris Land
Follows his coach
From Wazoo over to North Texas
When he goes
And all right, fine
Here we are pretty good
Have to respect it
I will say
If I enter Armstrong
He might have been dropped in some
Because he hit the wire
After not being around week one
And then obviously he had the explosion
For 10 of 13
164. Keep an eye on it for him. I've seen him in a couple of my shallow leagues where he was
dropped. Hello? Is it me you're looking for? said Lionel Ritchie and says Eric Troton about
Andrew Armstrong. So be on the lookout if that's the case. Somebody. Oh, and lastly, we talked
about Temple pathetic defense. Dante Wright, another post-hype sleeper. 11 to 14, 101, a touchdown.
Dante Wright.
Old friend.
How long have we been talking about Dante right?
Is it legitimately 2019?
David Dazio era.
It's close, right?
I'm not always thinking of exactly.
For real.
This is unbelievable.
I can't believe we're still talking about.
Well, welcome back.
Welcome back.
You never left, but welcome back.
That's amazing.
Hey, a couple questions here.
One, we got one right here.
Would you pick up any of the names mentioned so far?
for Rock Taylor.
Is it too early to hit the panic button?
What are you guys doing with Rock Taylor?
I had to go look through Memphis
games because, yeah, he's been disappointing.
I mean, they played two
pretty easy games and they have,
it's kind of easy to see why
they have Florida State on the schedule this week.
They're going to try to pull the upset
their team that's trying to make the playoff
from the G5.
So I think they're holding it back.
Rock Taylor's just, that wouldn't do it.
I agree.
It's hard.
I got some Rock Taylor shares.
And with that powerful offense
and the fact that you can't
already established himself as a thousand-yard receiver, you know, with 10 touchdown range.
It's tough to give up after two weeks like that.
I got to hold on a little bit longer respect to look.
This is Rock's bottom.
This is Rock's bottom.
Rocks bottom.
I love it.
I love it.
Look at that power.
J.D.
you're getting it.
Well done, sir.
Well done.
English teacher.
J.D. Yonkey.
English teacher.
All right.
We don't have spent much time on this last position.
But tight ends.
You guys got anybody to pick up for these guys?
guys, I mean, the waiver wire is thin.
I mean, even if you went after Jack Bech last week and, you know, which we were,
you guys were highly against and that was very wise.
And because he put up a clunker this week.
But any tight-ins you guys got that you would recommend for this week?
I got a guy I love.
Let's do it.
We already talked about, obviously we talked about Gunnar Helm.
I went and I waxed poetic on that.
We don't need to go through that again.
But, dude, I obviously, I was watching my binky boy, Brendan.
Sorsby. Everybody knows that, right? Everybody knows Sorsby's my guy. I love him. Vindicated.
Proton vindicated in Brendan Sorsby, right? Brent Sorsby wins against Pittsburgh. Just unbelievable.
And who is he throwing to? Dude, go watch Joe Royer play. My God, I watched every target he had this
year. Joe Royer, three years at Ohio State, is a stud of the first order.
Oh, well, it's going to be Joey Belfast?
No, it's not.
No, it's not.
He came right in that room and shoved everybody out.
And she is a freak athlete.
Totally underrated.
Can't believe he couldn't crack the depth chart there at Ohio State.
But here we are.
They're playing Miami, Ohio, this week.
He's 11% owned.
He's increased by 8.4% to start of the season.
And if you need a tight end, welcome.
Pick up Joe Royer.
Props to Lake McCree.
They have a buy this week for USC, but he's pretty.
himself to be part of that offense and Miller Moss really trusts him. He's only 5% owned.
And then Tyler Neville, we're going to talk about Virginia again. Why not? I mean, it's Virginia
time. It is their time, the cavaliers in Coheed and Calandria. Clearly Tyler Neville there for UVA,
hey, two touchdowns. You've got my attention. It's an offense I really like in a conference
that they're going to be able to score points in, in my opinion, pretty good road.
At 1% ownership, Tyler Neville, you could do worse in deep leagues.
Yeah, that's good.
You got anybody, JD?
Yeah, you guys know who leads the Baylor Bears in targets so far this year.
Oh.
Another redemption story?
Post-type sleeper is the theme.
Michael.
Michael Trigg.
Michael Trigg, baby.
There it is.
Post-type sleeper.
I love it, J.D.
He's in the slot 64% of the time.
We know he's good at football.
You know, is he ever going to be on the field?
Well, it looks like it.
And Jake Spavidol is going to operate tempo.
I'm not really sure where the ball's going to go.
Why not to Michael Trigg?
And that's what the quarterbacks are thinking
they aren't going to play Utah every single week, fellas.
I love it.
I love it.
That was a Cohed in Cambria reference.
That's correct, Tom.
Great call, TD.
Great call.
Dude, there's a love fest going on between the producer and Froton right now.
I love it, Tom.
Bowman and TD vulture for Shane.
He's got that.
I would say Elijah Royo.
I mean, he's a guy that's 23% owns.
He got picked up quite a bit.
But they, you know,
they played.
A&M, Florida A&M last week.
Miami did.
And Arroyo had one catch for 17 yards in a touchdown.
He just sat the bench.
It was the first drive of the game.
So pretty sweet downfield catch and run for him.
So good stuff on tight ends.
We're going to take a quick break here.
We're at the 50 minute mark to take a break.
And then we'll come back and talk about some of our favorite week three matchups.
All right.
I want to ask you guys, you know, and feel free again.
If you're in the chat, you want to ask.
some questions.
I would love to be able to answer any kind of start sit questions or anything
else you have as far as people that you're looking at at this week, especially with,
you know, this is the first week with a lot of buys.
That's week three.
I think there's, I don't know, 14, 15 teams on buys this week.
So quite a few.
So have been many questions on that.
Feel free to put them in the chat.
But I want to ask you guys, and I'll answer this question first.
So you guys have some time to think about it, because I'm going to prep you on this.
But is there a game that you're looking forward to this weekend for the,
the CFF implications.
I'll start with mine.
And it's Kansas State, Arizona, on Friday night.
Hell, yes.
What a great Friday night game.
Yes.
And I got some questions about Avery Johnson, right?
I mean, he's a guy that a lot of us have been on all off season, right, because
of his running ability.
We knew that he couldn't pass, but we also knew Greg Ward couldn't pass.
And yet there were some things about Greg Ward and his ability to run that just made him
electric and CFF.
But we haven't seen Avery Johnson run a ton yet, and that could be by design.
But we're going to find out this week because Dan Pier put up 130 yards for New Mexico against Arizona.
Week one, Pennington, this last week for Northern Arizona, I think had 40, 30 yards rushing.
And so if, if Avery Johnson can't do it this week, then he is on maybe bust alert because it is not looking good for him.
and I'm intrigued to see,
I think the winner of this game has a nice path potentially
to the Big 12 title game,
but also like,
yeah,
just Arizona,
are they going to bounce back and look better than against Northern Arizona?
Our team's just going to lock down,
like basically bracket Tetra-McMillan
and Nova Feta looked lost when he couldn't throw it to T-Mack
for like a quarter,
like quality.
Holly Conley had to bail them out essentially in that game.
If it wasn't for him,
like it was scary to see what happened when T-Mack was was bracketed essentially.
And more than bracketed.
They literally put two defenders on him.
We're just like,
you're going to throw it to somebody else.
And is that the game plan for everybody else?
I think there's a lot of CFF implications for high-level targets.
And then also like Conley emerging as,
you know,
what looks like the RB1 there is,
he looks awesome so far in that offense.
And, you know, is it Jeremiah Patterson?
He looked pretty electric in his limited touches as well as a potential wide receiver
two there for Arizona.
So just lots of questions for me on these teams.
Other than DJ get-ins, I'm just like, man, what is, what are the rest of these guys, you know, going to do?
Was it all just an anomaly last week?
Any thoughts on Kansas State, Arizona?
Yeah, can't wait to watch it.
Friday night game fired up.
Is it 58 points for the spread?
50.
Not spread, but sorry, the over and under.
50 and a half.
I think the two games,
the two games I'm looking forward to the most are both on the Friday.
It's the greatest Friday slate,
two-game Friday slate ever.
UNLV, Kansas is right before that now or before that.
I mean, all four of these quarterbacks I want to watch.
I want to watch Sluca.
You get Ricky White for over 100 yards and three touchdowns in the first quarter.
Are they going to be able to keep?
that up against a better team. I want to watch that. Julian Daniels looks not so great.
Is he going to look better against UNLV? This is an amazing slate. And then Avery Johnson has the
playbook from the true dual threat CFF quarterback, Devin Dan Pierre. He has the playbook on how to
beat this Arizona defense. Is he going to show something? Because if not, straight in the trash
camp. I'm joking, of course. But that's a great slate. Yeah, I agree on the UNLV, Kansas front.
I actually watched both of these QBs in preparation for this Friday game in terms of their last games.
And Jaylon Daniels has me concerned.
Obviously, just from a production standpoint, we saw that.
But watching him navigate, you know, I don't know if he's just not the same guy pre-back injury wherever have you.
But he wasn't, he didn't look particularly comfortable back there.
He didn't look like he was on time, you know, pretty fairly often.
didn't look like he was in sync like I was expecting him to be.
Considering he's been there forever with these wide receivers and it's a veteran core,
you would think there'd be better continuity.
I didn't see these guys on the same page.
That was a real concern.
That being said, yeah, what incredible.
But in addition to the Friday, there's also a very impactful CFF game on Thursday night.
Now it's in there.
Have we forgotten?
Arizona State, Texas State?
Yes.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Battle of the undefeated.
Everybody's talking about it.
Jordan McLeod, Sam Levitt, J.D. Yankees' boy, he drafted more Scott Aboe than anybody in the world last season.
I'm not sure how your shares look this year.
J.D., perhaps you provide an update.
I mean like a serious, I won exact shares.
And I will give you that win.
But, dude, this is a fascinating matchup here.
Total is 58 and a half.
You got Arizona State minus one and a half.
It's just money line here.
Basically to pick them.
I can't wait to see.
Arizona State already playing way above anything.
I thought they'd be anywhere near.
Handel in Wyoming.
I mean, year to with Dillingham, are they ready?
Are they coming out of the shadow of the Herm, Antonio Pierce, Duldrums?
I can't wait to watch this game.
But other than that, that Thursday night, you know,
cross-conference action patch matchup,
how can you not talk about Texas Tech, North Texas?
Perhaps no defense will be played.
The entire game.
68.5 is the total.
9.5 Texas Tech is favored.
This could go thermonuclear.
We could finally kick off what we saw.
Everything's been similar for World War III for years.
I mean, months and months and months now.
This could be the power cake.
This could be the France-Ferdinand moment.
North Texas, Texas Tech.
I'm concerned for all of humanity right now.
What's going to happen at this game?
That's amazing.
Okay.
I mean,
Shane's asking the question,
does this game go over 100 points?
North Texas, Texas Tech,
a total of 100 points.
Do they hit,
you know,
do they accomplish what ACU
and Texas Tech accomplishments in week one
scoring over 100 points combined in the game?
Dude,
they might set new standards for warfare.
So,
I mean,
points.
I don't even think about points.
We're talking about,
like, armaments,
munitions,
how did people,
view artillery.
Yeah, all of it.
I love it.
Sorry, JD.
I mean it.
Yeah.
I think you might be frozen.
Oh, it's frozen.
Good.
Yeah, there.
You're back now.
I gotcha.
I froze because I was about to say how I took the over in Texas Tech's last game
against Washington State because I viewed it similarly.
And they managed to go under the total because a bunch of their offensive linemen aren't
playing.
Tosh Brooks.
Like, is he the most valuable?
running back in the country other than Ashton Genty,
like they just don't know what to do
when they can't give him the ball 30 times a game
and go five yards,
they just shut down.
I can't stand.
Barron Martin is brutal, too.
I can't watch him anymore.
I can't do it.
Like, for my help and safety,
I'm not going to be watching this game.
That's amazing.
Seriously, with Barron Morton, again,
I watched every one of his throws from last week.
Oh, my God, because I had his over, obviously,
because I knew that at least
his passing hours ago over the 245,
that was just too low.
Man, having his overs
is just a perilous experience.
Like, oh, it's the beginning of the fourth quarter.
I think he just finally pull him
and in this experiment for good.
Like, it could happen at any moment.
You really feel like nothing is safe
at any moment.
Wilhamman could ride in to the rescue
on his white horse and just take over
for the rest of the next five years.
but oh,
you're right.
That's hilarious.
I mean,
it's,
it's amazing when Texas Tech can figure out how to, like,
let Maverick McIver throw for like 500 yards on them one week.
And then John Matteer runs for like 200 yards on them.
Oh,
I know.
What is going on with this?
I don't know what to do with his Texas Tech.
You're right.
You're right.
I was considering going to see them on October 6th to,
uh,
against Texas,
against Arizona.
because I want to see an Arizona game.
That fits my schedule.
And I'm like, I wasn't going to because Arizona State is playing Kansas.
That looks like a better game now than Texas Tech Arizona does.
But man, just for the who knows factor, what could happen in Arizona might draw me.
I mean, look, Conley could run for 300 yards or T-Mack could have a second 300-yard game of the year.
Yeah, we don't know.
We don't know what's going to happen in that game.
I like it.
We'll have to see for sure.
I will say like that back to the Texas State, Arizona State game,
that is a game that I would totally take the Texas,
Texas State with the points on the road.
I just think their defense week won.
Their final score, I think it was like 3416 or maybe 3427,
but like they blew out their FCS opponent and they scored a bunch in the fourth quarter
and they just made UTSA look stupid.
So I think Texas State's got a decent defense.
And I do think our Texas State's got a decent defense.
and I think that G.J. Kenny is going to have the offense rocking.
And I think that, you know, I don't think they'd blow them out by any stretch,
but I think they can win, you know, that game potentially or at least keep it within the spread and cover.
So it's an interesting one for me.
J.D., you got any other games that you're interested in?
You guys hit on some good ones, but two more that are sticking out to me.
We were just talking about Maryland a lot of the show.
We were talking about Virginia a lot of the show.
So let's just officially point out that we're all going to be watching that night game,
all three of us here are intently watching and cheering on the guys we have hyped up.
Also, we can't get out of here without talking about that Rocky Mountain show now.
One of the best games.
Oh, yeah.
The entire 2023 college football season, Colorado State has not looked great,
but they've been running the ball, okay?
I'm here for the first time and forever.
Torrey Horton did leave hurt last week, but maybe they just didn't need him.
I mean, whatever happens in this game, it's going to be weird, it's going to be intriguing.
it's going to be something that sticks with you for a long time.
And hopefully that means a Colorado state upset.
But either way, we'll be tuned.
Hell yes, Maryland, Virginia.
Hell yes, great call, J.D.
And that total is 54.5.
Come on now.
54 and a half for that game.
Yeah, that's going in the column this week.
That's an over, boys.
I will throw one more on the ledger.
UCFTCU.
Hey?
All right.
Let's go.
I mean, these are two teams that are not.
afraid to mix it up and put some points on the board and fire off some shots. So I think that is
another one. We'll be televised on Fox, so we'll all get to watch it. Definitely worth watching
and is playing opposite of Colorado, Colorado State. So that's 730 sort of time slot,
430 West Coast time, Colorado Colorado State, UCFTCU, nice little nice little night slate. And then you
throw in Maryland, Virginia on the ACC network, guys, we're going to have some fun.
We're going to have some fun.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Got to be a fun night for sure, especially, you know, considering, again, it's like limited,
there's 15 teams on by or so.
And so, you know, limited teams this week.
So it's fun to get these games that at least will be high scoring.
It would be fun for us to watch that play CFF.
One last question before we get out of here.
We've got a start sick question from Jojo Mocha.
He's got three quarterbacks here.
Byron Brown.
And then Cam Ward and John Mateer, do you guys have a preference of who you guys would start here?
I believe we said Byron Brown is playing Southern Miss.
Cam Ward.
Is it Southern Miss?
Is that right?
Yeah, Southern Miss.
Yeah, that's Ryan Brown.
Yes.
And then Cam Ward is playing Paul State.
It's here, Washington.
Yeah.
Geez, for me, it's tough to say Byron Brown against Southern Miss, you know.
I mean, I just can't help, but think he's the number one or number two player at quarterback and start your studs here?
I kind of think so.
I don't feel good about Mateer because it is Washington.
He's going up a level.
You would think perception-wise in defense.
Maybe he doesn't.
And obviously, Ward is intriguing, but he doesn't run.
So I guess it would be, is this a six-point passing touchdown league?
And is it a four?
If it's a four, it's an obvious Byram.
And even in six, I'm leaning Byron.
Yeah, that's good.
What about you, JD?
Same thing?
Yeah, I would not have the Cajonists to sit Byron Brown, who by the way, man, I'm sure
much of the CFF world was cheering him on when they had the ball in the fourth quarter
with the chase to take the lead.
And, you know, he did not have his best performance, but, man, they're going to get him
back on track here.
So he's for sure my one.
Ward would be hard for me to sit just because he's having a great.
I think they're kind of boosting his numbers a little bit here to get some notoriety
because they've had a lot of bad press lately.
So I would go him number two behind Byron.
Yeah, we're going to figure out whether Mateer has the goods, right,
for the rest of the season this week.
But I don't think you have to 10th fate, you know,
Byron Brown is the guy.
You know that he's going to have the rushing upside,
even if his arm isn't clicking for him,
which, you know, ah, man, he was so close.
If you could have hit a couple of those open wide receivers,
I think they could have broke that game open early.
but hopefully
well I'm just happy about
Ward I mean the whole
Ward going to Miami everything out
transpired as somebody who is
you know it's quite heavily invested
in Bowman University boom
I know there it is
Cam Ward lava refractor
take a drink take a drink
Lava refractor autograph
you see the C and the W
I know if I've seen it before but
I have quite a collection of Cam Ward cards
that I bought a year and a half ago when he was on
Washington State and now he's rising up the Heisman ranks.
I did.
John Edmond,
so that's how he did.
I was shocked at how long they played him against A&A,
Florida A&M this last week.
I mean,
300, I think, whatever,
I can't remember how many yards he had,
but it was too many.
He was playing way too deep into that game.
It's like they're clearly trying to pad the stats for that guy.
So really fun.
Hey,
last little thing here from Jojo Moka is a long-time listener.
First time, Kevin.
The show live.
Cheers, boys.
Appreciate it, Jojo.
Appreciate all the boys.
Absolutely.
We got Brett.
Let's not forget, Carps.
Carps is in there, my man.
We don't forget about you, Carps.
The best ball machine, Leland, of course.
You guys taking over the chat.
Thank you very much, all boys.
There we go.
Hey, Frotan, why don't you tell us what you got going on tomorrow morning around?
I think it's the 10 a.m. Eastern?
Maybe you can correct me on that.
Oh, no.
I have on Thursday.
I think it goes like 9 a.m.
The bet the edge takeover over on NBCSports.com's YouTube channel, myself, Brett Thomas.
Bond-Dilesl will be going with all my early picks for the props slate to give you all my opinions on the early stuff for that stuff moves because it will before I go live on Saturday morning on the betting life channel with Thorneisstrom to go over the full Kittangaboo Slate.
for an hour and a half.
I love it.
J.D., what's you got going on this week?
Same old, same old.
I have my bets up Wednesday over at Fantasy Points.
So he absolutely took a bath last week.
So thank you, Baron Morton.
But we're coming back strong.
I always got my weekly previews over at Covers,
weekly player props and game previews.
And yeah, just as always, it's a beautiful week in the world
where college football is going to be on, as we said,
beautiful games Thursday, beautiful games, Friday,
and of course, Saturday.
amazing. So yeah, really excited for it. Really glad to be on for the second time. I think we crushed it this week. And I'm really looking forward to it. Yeah, for sure. It's going to be a fun year together. I'm really looking forward to it. Hey, we actually have a special promotion over at Fantasy Points for our college football package, which is 25% off. So the promo code there is CFB 25 for 25% off. Man, this last week, we hit 14 and 15 props.
between the article and then our top props from our CFF shows.
That was really fun.
And then also, man, the DFS articles did really well.
I smashed the hit four or five times the money I put in on Saturday night.
Basically, I got really lazy Saturday night.
And I was like, I'm just going to throw some 20 lightups into optimizer and throw them into some tournaments.
And just use our projections and they smash.
So projections are probably smarter than me.
And so I just used them.
and it was great and made a lot of money.
So that was really fun.
So again, that's 25% off.
CFB 25 is the promo code.
Hey, if you guys enjoy this show,
please like, comment, subscribe.
It really helps us get out there
and kind of get more eyes on this show.
It's been super fun doing the show
with you, Froton, and you, JD, today.
Looking forward to a whole season
of these types of shows together.
But until next time,
do small things with great love what what you're shaking your head you're welcome
