Scott Barrett's quarterback rankings and tiers here on Fantasy Football Daily.
I'm your host, Brett Whitefield, back with Michael host, Scott Barrett.
Scott, my man, how are you today?
I'm doing good.
I'm excited to be here, excited to talk about these quarterback rankings, really pick your brain
because I know I feel really good about my rankings.
Maybe there's one or two things I can, you know, maybe a tie I'd like broken for me,
but really just picking your brain because, you know, you're really the best film guy in the game
And that's not my strong suit.
So I think, you know, coming out of this episode, my rankings are going to be even better than they already are.
I love the way we're doing this format.
And if you haven't checked it out yet, go to our YouTube page, Fantasy Points, YouTube, the Fantasy Football Daily Show.
We're doing a daily episode.
However, the last episode we did was the tight ends rankings and tiers.
And it's, I think it's cool because we're doing the tier maker in conjunction with the ranking so people can see how you.
you feel about each guy at ADP. You're talking about different formats as well. I think there's a lot
to learn in these episodes. I'm learning a lot. You know, and so I think it's a really fun back and forth
we're having. Let's kick it off. No surprises here. Josh Allen, quarterback the Buffalo Bill is in
your number one spot. And the thing with Allen, that's crazy. Here's a stat that no one really realizes.
He's got six straight seasons of 39 touchdowns or more. The next closest player in NFL history
has two of those. He's got six in a row. It's absolutely mind-blowing. It's absolutely mind-blowing.
I know it's a box score set.
It's not some crazy charted data point, but that's still pretty ridiculous.
Yeah, I mean, this one's really simple.
This one's really easy.
Over the last six years, Josh Allen has finished.
First, second, first, second, first, first, first in fantasy points per game.
It's as safe as it gets, but with a ton of upside, higher median projection.
He plays through everything and, you know, does.
doesn't really see too much of a decline in performance.
I think the bills actually lean more pass heavy this year
without Sean McDermott.
And yeah, so this is, you know,
I have to tear this out and, you know,
I wasn't expecting this, so I'm kind of doing this
on the fly here.
QB1 in my rankings in an eight team league, S tier.
In an auction league, maybe even S tier.
This is what Fantasy Point subscribers tell me.
They tell me, bro, auction leagues are the way
to go. You could grab every single Exodia and still have so much, you know, room left over
that it makes sense to just pay all the way up at quarterback because there's so much value
in the middle to late rounds for running backs and wide receivers. But in a 12-team league,
this is this is C-tier, D-tier. And it really just has everything to do with the quarterback
position just being, it's not really that impassified.
of a position. Like every year people wait, baited breath, who is my Exodia quarterback?
And because, you know, I've hit on it every single. It just doesn't really matter, though.
Like even hitting on it isn't that impactful in terms of wins above replacement in terms of your odds of winning your league's championship.
So upside wins championships. Go back and read that article. In any given season, there's only five to six players who actually matter.
And it's almost never a quarterback. You know, 2019, Lamarmer.
Jackson is maybe the one exception. Outside of that, it's it's it's always running backs, always wide
receivers. And so like drafting Josh Allen in like round three is still not really that impactful.
Drafting like, you know, Drake May last year, Mike Zodia quarterback last year in the double digit
rounds. He finished second behind only Josh Allen and fantasy points per game. Still not that impactful.
So in the rounds Josh Allen goes, I want to be drafting running backs or wide receivers.
Again, a team league, it's different.
Maybe in an auction, it's different.
Superflex, it's different.
But in a 12-team league, this is D.
This is C or D.
Okay, where, like, this is a question for me, personally.
Where do you get comfortable taking Josh Allen?
Like, if he's there in the fifth, are you taking him?
Or are you still punting and taking one of your-
Yeah, I take him in the fifth.
I think that's, because again, like, listen, if you're following my draft guide,
you could win with any approach.
There's just like, this is the worst ADP has been in years.
I don't know if it's like AI or if it's like best ball brain rot,
but it's there's just so much value in the middle to late rounds of your draft.
Like you could, I think you have that luxury to draft Josh Allen early.
And if you follow my draft guide, you're going to win your league.
But, but yeah, I mean, a fifth round for basically guaranteed QB1, QB2.
is pretty great.
Cool.
I will say, though, this happened to Theo and I when we did our FFPC draft.
We got like Jaden Daniels in like round nine.
But then we saw where some of these, you know, other quarterbacks went,
how like 16th, 17th round.
It was still like, damn, I would have liked this team better if we took a running back there or a wide receiver there.
That's always a tugging pole.
When you're drafting, you do have to pay attention to where quarterbacks are going, right?
Like you got a like if it's going to be a hot draft on quarterbacks.
Maybe you take one earlier.
Sometimes they go later like that one.
All right, your number two guy, Lamar Jackson, quarterback Baltimore Ravens, had some
injuries stuff the last couple of years, but ultimately he's still a beast.
Were you at with him?
Yeah, the, the, the bull case argument is in 2024, you let all quarterbacks and fantasy
points per game, had over two fantasy points per game more than the next closest, which was
Josh Allen.
And then last year, before that injury, he was even better.
He was averaging 28 fantasy points per game, three over three more than the next.
next closest. And then he suffered that lower body injury and he turned into Aaron Rogers.
The same fantasy points per game as Aaron Rogers. You know, comparable efficiency and production
to Bryce Young and J.J. McCarthy. And I think that just makes sense. I've been saying it if you,
if you remove Lamar Jackson's superpower, his hyper mobility, it's exactly like removing the
laser vision from Cyclops. You know, he just turns into just a guy. And so,
Defenses can play him honestly.
And so he loses that advantage of having the QB spy
or linebacker shading close to the line of scrimmage.
And so, yeah, it's rough.
Soft pass rush as well.
That's the push and pull here is like he's getting up there in age.
You know, if he suffers a lower body injury, he stinks.
But if he stays fully healthy, yeah,
he's either QB1 or QB2 this year.
Yeah, that's the only thing with Lamar,
When he's healthy, he doesn't actually see a real pass rush.
It's super soft.
It's contain base, trying to keep him in the pocket,
which gives him time, gives his players a chance to separate.
So, yeah, the thing with Jackson,
I'm excited to see him in Declan Doyle's system.
Declan Doyle is a Sean Payton disciple via one year with Ben Johnson, Chicago.
And Declan is going to really prioritize the timing and rhythm-based offense.
It's going to have a lot of West Coast influence.
It's like, if Lamar can live in,
that scheme and just run the offense 75% of the time and then put the hero cape on the rest,
I think he'll age pretty well with the legs. If he doesn't, he kind of stays who he is.
Could be a rude awakening for Lamar at some point, but for now, I think he, I think he's still
awesome. So are your third guy here. Well, so, so I would put him C or D tier, probably
D tier. And again, it's just the opportunity cost of foregoing a running back or wide receiver.
Right on. A trend you'll see.
in Scott's rankings is most of the top guys all run a lot.
Your third guy is Jaden Daniels quarterback Washington commanders who just got a little bump
with Stefan Diggs joining the team.
He now actually has more than one competent pass catcher probably for the first time
in his career.
So that's exciting.
Jaden, you've been all over him since his rookie season.
Scott.
He was your exodia that year, right?
Yeah.
And he crushed for us.
He kept the street going.
He's very similar to Lamar Jackson to me.
It's, you know, if he's healthy, he should.
He's right up there with Josh Allen over the last two years in healthy games.
He averages 23.7 fantasy points per game that would rank tied with Josh Allen over the last two years.
The problem is he's only been healthy, quote unquote, healthy in 41% of Washington's games over this span.
And so, yeah, injury risk, hyper-mobile quarterback.
I remembered it incorrectly.
I was just thinking about it.
I was like, oh, and he was injury-prone coming out of college, right?
And he actually wasn't that injury prone, but this was a concern I believe you had where it's like the low BMI.
He's really skinny.
Took a lot of unnecessary hits.
That's what it was.
That's what it was.
Took a lot of unnecessary hits.
And so, yeah, I like this new offensive coordinator change.
I like the mobility.
I like his upside if he stays healthy.
But do you also worry about the injury.
Do you worry about his mom at all?
I don't worry about his mom.
No.
Do you worry about his mom?
Bro.
Just not a good look for Jane Daniels the last week
with the whole number five thing at LSU
and asking to be taken out of certain things.
I don't know.
Do I worry about it?
Like on a serious level?
Maybe a little bit.
Maybe a little bit.
And then you got angry vet scout out there talking about...
Oh, boy.
Yeah.
We won't repeat the things he's saying about Jane's mom,
but he was early on the Rusini thing.
So maybe he's got some sources.
I don't know.
But anyways.
I don't talk ill of anyone's mothers.
Certainly not in the fantasy points YouTube.
I, yeah, QB3.
We're going to say D or C tier.
I'll throw them in D tier.
Why not?
All right.
Jalen hurts.
This might be the biggest gap between where I would have these guys ranked for NFL versus fantasy.
You have them all the way up at number four.
Obviously, the rushing production speaks for
itself, the touchdowns are insane.
Is that really what this is based on?
Well, he's coming off for the worst season of his career,
but it's like still really wasn't that bad to me.
He averaged 19.3 fantasy points per game,
which was a 15% drop off in his average up until that point.
But it was a 41% drop off in rushing fantasy points per game.
And so that was due to a number of factors,
a little bit of fluky,
unluckiness in terms of, you know, how often they were at the one yard line last year versus
past years. But the big thing I think is you have this quote from Jimmy Kemski, who's one of
the Eagles best beat writers. He was saying, Hertz actually asked the coaching staff to remove
design runs from the game plan. And now he's legitimately in the hot seat. I don't know if you're
following this, but like you have all these quotes coming that are big.
basically from the coach like, yeah, we're sick of his shit.
He needs to play better.
He needs to start throwing over the middle of the field.
We need to go back to design runs.
And yeah, so I'm kind of optimistic for a guy who otherwise was QB2, QB5 by Fantasy Points
Per Game.
And then even in an awful year last year was QB7.
So I have him QB4 by ADP.
I think he goes QB6 just about everywhere.
else. Yeah, QB6 on Sleeper, QB6 on Yahoo, QB5 on ESPN. So if I had a tier amount,
I certainly like him more than Lamar and Daniels. In a 12 team league, though, still a bit
early for me for a quarterback. So I'd put him B tier. I wonder if he's going to get a legit
bump with Sean Mannion as the play car. If you remember, Mannion came from the Packers.
And they had those Malik Willis games. Oh, baby, did they? With a very similar skill set to Hertz.
And it's like, if they just bring that kind of energy to setting Hertz up for success as they did Malik Willis,
Hertz is going to freaking cook this year.
Yeah.
I mean, should I put an A tier?
Because I considered it.
Let's see how it plays out.
I'm comfortable with B for now, but we'll see how the rest of these play out here.
I got a feeling we, you know, there's some other ones we're going to want ahead of him.
So number five, for instance, Drake May, your, your Exodia last year.
The thing about Scott, you don't miss on Exodia quarterbacks.
Like, you don't.
So yeah, Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hertz, Jaden Daniels, Drake May.
There was one miss.
Who wasn't?
Anthony Richardson, your boy.
My boy, yeah.
But yeah.
And by the way, the subs would have won so much money had Sam Monson not thrown away his MVP.
On the Richardson note, though, fantasy points per game in those four starts, he was still right there, wasn't he?
Yeah, but I mean, yeah, yeah.
He got hurt and missed the rest of the season.
You can't control for that.
Yeah, he also looked like utter dog shit.
But a lot of these guys.
Yeah.
So that's a common theme with the exodias is there, you know,
rookies are sophomores with their hyper mobile.
They have that rushing upside.
And they're going in the double digit rounds where like the ceiling isn't priced in at all
in case they're good.
Like Justin Fields showed his sophomore year,
you could suck and still be.
amazing for fantasy.
But, you know, Drake May last year, actually, we butted heads on Drake May a little bit.
But yeah, I feel like I'm still too low on him because he finished last year as the QB2 by
fantasy points for game.
He was one vote away from winning MVP.
He did all that without A.J. Brown, without Romeo Dobbs, who you're very high on.
Another really cool stat you see on the screen here is he led all quarterbacks in passing
yards per game in the first half of games. And then really the Patriots kind of took their foot
off the gas in the second half because their lead was so high. And so what that says to me is,
I think there's a valid concern with the Patriot's strength of schedule toughening up. They go from
like the softest to one of the bottom five toughest. But what this stat says to me is like, hey,
that actually might be a good thing. Because now he, you know, he led in, he was top.
three in fantasy points for drop back.
He just didn't drop back a lot.
Maybe now in more competitive game scripts,
he drops back more.
And even if not, there's still the efficiency boost.
I think an AJ Brown could provide.
So I have them QB5, but it really feels like
this is just a really tight tier after Josh Allen,
where I like all of these guys.
But I would probably put May C tier.
Where would you put him?
I think C is fine.
I just, I wonder if there's just more,
if there's even another step coming for May,
who you mentioned the upgraded pass catching unit.
I mean, it's really upgraded, Scott.
And you're kind of low on A.J. Brown.
You kind of think he's lost a step.
Yeah, I'm making the bull case.
If everything goes well,
because that's what you always tell me to do for fantasy.
So if everything goes well,
and A.J. Brown is who he is.
And Romeo Dubs is who he is.
And Eli Reardon's already taken first team snaps
is like a designated pass catcher.
And I think that's where he's strong.
Hunter Henry's still there.
Like they have a really good supporting cast now.
I just wonder if there's a little bit more for May.
So I don't know.
I can see May outscoring, you know.
Brett, this is what I've been saying to myself.
Is it like it almost feels like a four-way tie here after Josh Allen.
Yeah, it does.
And it really probably just depends like in an actual draft,
who you can get the last.
latest. Yeah, and that's Jalen Hertz. So that's why he's he's the tear above the rest. Uh, so this is
going to get, this is going to be spicy. QB6 is Joe Burrow. I love Joe Burrow in real life football.
Mm. But from a fantasy perspective, Brett, I, I feel like I'm perpetually two beers away from
saying obscene things that could get me in trouble. A couple of years. Like, like, like, like,
Joe Burrow is maybe just fancy Baker Mayfield to me.
Look at this stat on the screen.
So in 2023, Joe Burrow averaged 1.5 fewer fantasy points per game than Baker Mayfield.
In 2024, he averaged only 0.2 more than Baker Mayfield.
In 2025, only 0.6 more than Baker Mayfield.
That doesn't look like an edge pick to me.
Certainly not where he's going in drafts, which is as high as.
is QB4 on Sleeper, QB5 on Yahoo.
He doesn't run.
He's incredibly injury prone.
Baker Mayfield goes 12 rounds later.
The Bengals offensive line is cooked.
And if you just scroll down on the screen.
And maybe maybe that's not the comment.
Maybe he's just expensive Brock Purdy.
Because over the last three years,
Brock Purdy averages more fantasy points per game than Joe Burrow.
And he goes seven rounds later, whatever it is.
And so I hate to do it to you.
I'm going to put him D tier.
F tier?
Do I put him F tier, Brett?
I might put him just the arbitrage that you have in a Baker,
Mayfield, or Brock Purdy,
who I'm not even like all in on for an injury prone quarterback.
It's not priced in F tier.
QB4 by 80P.
He's F tier.
The amount of things that have to go right for him to give you like a top three finish is insane.
Where all of these, like even.
Like you have, spoiler, you have Jackson Dart at seven.
I'm drafting Dart ahead of Burrow and fantasy, period.
Yeah.
And not just because of ADP, just straight up, you know,
guy for guy at cost, I would pick Dart over.
So like I'd have Dart ahead of him in my rankings, obviously.
But these are your rankings, not mine.
So, yeah, I just, Dart has, needs way less to go right for him to outproduce Burrow and fantasy.
So, yeah.

When West Jet first took flight in 1996, the vibes were a bit different.
People thought denim on denim was peak fashion, inline skates were everywhere,
and two out of three women rocked, the Rachel.
While those things stayed in the 90s, one thing that hasn't is that fuzzy feeling you get
when WestJetting welcomes you on board.
Here's to WestJetting since 96.
Travel back in time with us and actually travel with us at westjet.com slash 30 years.
Talk about dark, though.
Yeah, so you know I'm very high in him.
You know I'm not a film guy, but I see something special when I watch the film.
But even if you throw that out, it's just look at what he did last year.
This is the argument I made is look at what Daniel Jones did with Shane Steichen.
He was leading the league in passing yards, leading the league in EPA per play.
They had the best record in football before he fractured his fibula.
What did Daniel Jones do with Brian Dable?
What did he do with that dog shit supporting cast?
with Malik neighbors.
And then look at what Jackson Dart did in a worse setup.
He had 15 snaps with Malik neighbors.
He balled the F out.
He averaged 20.1 fantasy points per start.
That was the fifth most by a rookie quarterback all time.
If you exclude the Minnesota game
where he only threw 13 passes,
he averaged 22.5 fantasy points per start,
which would have led all quarterbacks more than Josh Allen.
And so he runs.
He balled out without Malik neighbors.
Now he has Malik neighbors.
He has Isaiah likely.
Really the only concern here is my absolute arch nemesis,
Matt Nagy.
Listen,
is Matt Nagy even calling the place?
What I saw in the preseason game was a Greg Roman install.
Personnel groupings, the run concepts.
So this is my conspiracy theory that I've debated with Ryan,
because he's in my ear like,
hey, if Patrick Mahomes wasn't Maggie proof, I don't think Jackson Dart is.
But my conspiracy theory was that Greg Roman is like maybe the real OC.
It's just he's still on the books with the Chargers.
So he had to have this like fake title, which is like assistant practice coordinator, you know.
And yeah.
So I mean, I don't know because you have this.
I mean, I'm on, Antoine Randall L was calling plays for the bear.
in preseason that's not going to happen in the regular season but yeah this is just sort of the
the back and forth i've had let's tier him out brett it's listen listen on yahoo he's s tier
on yahoo he's s tier on sleeper and e espn he's a tier where's he going qb what so he's going
qb 13 on yahoo he's going cuby nine on sleeper cuby seven on espn
Man, yeah. Yeah, I think he's got to be S tier.
S tier, let's do it.
This is my guy. This is my guy, Brett.
I know it is. The next one, though, I think you're crazy for having at eight.
Who do I have at eight? Trevor Lawrence.
You think that's too high or too low?
Low. I would have him over Dar and Burrow.
Wow. So, I mean, this is part of the internal debate I've had.
I love Trevor Lawrence.
I think he's the best MVP bet on the board right now.
He just doesn't have Jackson Darts rushing upside,
but he has a lot of it.
Over the last four years,
only two quarterbacks have more rushing touchdowns than Trevor Lawrence.
Jalen Hertz and Josh Allen.
And Trevor Lawrence has seven more than Lamar Jackson.
That's crazy.
And so what you had was a player who was unbelievable last year.
He was Fantasy's overall QB,
over the last 14, 7 and 4 weeks of the 2025 season.
His final month of the year was, I think,
the second or third best final month of any quarterback all time
in terms of total fantasy points.
Wow.
He was incredible.
And I'm a big Liam Cohen believer.
I'm a big Parker Washington guy.
And so, yeah, I love me some Trevor Lawrence.
I think part of the concern I have is,
hey, during that hot streak, the Jaguars did have one of the softest strength of schedules
in the league. It's much tougher this year. It's especially tough in the first half.
So there is a chance he's a better buy low than a player to draft. But yeah, this is,
listen, I love Jackson Dart. I love Trevor Lawrence. So I was going to put,
go ahead. I was just going to say one thing. I think the rushing thing is getting slept on a little bit.
And I know you've been all over it. But like after the.
first month of the season last year. And a lot of times teams, they view their seasons in
month increments. And so they make adjustments. After the first month, he was averaging as many
rushing yards per game as Drake May more than Kyla Murray, more than Bo Nix, more than Caleb
Williams, more than Lamar Jackson, more than Jalen Hertz. And then he scored nine touchdowns
over that final, what, 13 games as well to go with over 25 rushing yards a game. 25 rushing yards a game
is not nothing, Scott. That's enough to move you. I mean, it's not.
Jackson dart levels.
And that's the thing.
If you want to,
if you want me to put both of these guys over Burrow,
I will,
I'll do it.
I think you should have them both over Burrow.
And I also think,
I get that it's not Jackson Dart level,
but Lawrence is also going to rack up way more fantasy points from the pocket.
You got Liam Colin Coleman plays.
You have a really talented skill player group around him.
Got a lot of catch and run demons.
You got downfield guys.
It's a really good collection of parts.
You have a defense that should be perfectly adequate.
And what I mean by that is a defense that could be good enough to give him more opportunity,
but not so good that they're going to keep games blowouts.
You know what I mean?
It's like a perfectly adequate defense for a high scoring fantasy quarterback.
So I'm really, I think Lawrence is S-tier, but again, these are your rankings.
Let's put him as tier.
Hey, just so everyone knows, I've flipped back and forth on Dart and Lawrence a million times.
And if Brett gives the blessing to put them both over Burrow, that's totally fine by me.
I will say Trevor Lawrence is a little bit more expensive.
the cheapest he is is QB11 on sleeper otherwise he's he's QB8 on Yahoo and ESPN he's
actually moved up quite a bit these last few weeks um Jackson Dart by the way also uh insanely
cheap on FFPC where Trevor Lawrence is a little more expensive um who's my next quarterback
Justin Herbert talk about if boy if so this is I can't wait to hear your your criticism because
you're not as high on Justin Herbert as I am I think
I think I talked about this.
I went to a wedding in New Jersey, and the second I touched down, first bet I made was
Justin Herbert to win MVP, Chargers to win Super Bowl.
I'm a big Mike McDaniel guy.
You argue that's a negative.
You argue that's a negative, but if you just look at what Justin Herbert did last year with
Greg Roman with Joe Alt, he didn't even have, you know, his other Pro Bowl left tackle,
or Rishon Slater, he looked like the MVP.
He was, you talk about Trevor Lawrence's rushing yards per game.
He was 38.
He was top five in passing yards per game.
QB1 and fantasy points for dropback.
QB1 in fantasy points per game.
He looked like an MVP with just one healthy tackle.
Yeah, without your two healthy tackles, everyone's going to suck.
But now he gets both of them back fully healthy.
He gets a McShanahan-style play caller.
Greg Rosenthal leaked that Ladd McConkey was hurt all year.
covered that up i see you throwing flags brad well we'll get to it in a second lad mcconkey was hurt
all last year quentin johnson was hurt both of those guys are should be fully healthy and so
yeah i i i feel good about this you tell me why i'm too high on him well the flag is thrown because
just two quarterbacks ago or so you made an off-the-cuff comment that sam monson threw away his
MVP vote but then just said justin herbert played at an MVP level both things can't
be true because the throw size with Joe Alt healthy.
Oh, okay.
Six games.
Who did Sam vote for?
Justin Herbert.
Oh, he really threw away his vote.
I'm not saying he did or didn't.
Good friend, former coworker, but yeah.
Here's the thing.
Some of the some things, like some perceptions are not reality.
And one of them is that Joe Walt and Rashon Slater completely sunk the offense, right?
Herbert's time to pressure actually was like the fifth lowest of all quarterbacks who's,
who had 200 plus dropbacks.
And as far as quarterback induced pressure,
Herbert ranked like top three, Scott.
He was like number two and sacks taken that were his fault.
Like, yeah, you can blame the tackles all day long,
but the reality is Jamari Salier filled in at left tackle for a good part of the season.
He was awesome.
He went and signed a contract in Miami to be a starter for them.
So like, I'm just saying, man, like, it's, I get why on paper it makes sense.
You would think, oh, the,
everything's over.
Every year we do this with Herbert, where we give him a million excuses.
It's every year something comes up.
And the reality is when you look into the data and look at what's sticky,
the sticky metrics, the predictive metrics, Herbert's just not good in him.
And it's been that way since his rookie season.
All of his fantasy production came on crazy third down passes from a,
from a busted pocket.
And since then, we really haven't got the same Justin Herbert.
We crowned him too soon, just like we do every good quarterback who, who performed
decently high as a rookie.
And I'm just a little concerned now.
You're adding Mike McDaniel to the mix.
You already have a dinosaur of a head coach
in Jim Harbaugh, who's living in the 1980s.
Mike McDaniel is the most run-aggressive
head coach on the planet.
Or sorry, run-aggressive play caller on the planet.
He, it really is all about
the run game for him.
I know he comes off as this new age
Sean McVeigh savant,
but he's a different animal.
And he's going to have that
pass rate over expectation way
down this year. And I think you're going to see a really run heavy approach. And they don't have
the horses to go out there and win vertically in the past game. So I do think it's going to be a lot
of grinded out, catch and run type stuff. Typically, you know, what you've seen the non-tiree
kill Mike McDaniel offense is is that. It's a, it's a slog. It's a, it's a, it's a fight, man. And I, I think
the chargers are are building this for identity. And they, they don't care about explosive past
plays. I, it's, I think it's going to be tough for him, man.
I really do.
Yeah, just a little devil's advocate.
Harbaugh also has been quoted multiple times
as saying like, if I don't get this guy MVP,
I'm gonna hang myself in my garage.
Jim Harba also told us JJ McCarthy
was worthy of the first overall pick.
Yeah, yeah.
Well, didn't you also say that?
I did, yeah.
Oh, by the way, that is Brett's biggest miss.
It like honestly might be his only miss
that I can really recall.
I don't know that it's your fault
because you praised him pre-draft
for his like yeah i know genius level processing if he had connor stallions you know telling him what the
defense was doing maybe maybe uh maybe you deserve a mulligan for scott there's actually people
studying this every player drafted from that era of michigan football has sucked in the nfl
roman wilson was another one rome wilson blake coram is the only one that has a chance to be good
everyone else is bad bad like third round offensive lineman bad all the d-lid all the d-linson
that were picked were bad it's like it's kind of eerie it definitely makes it look worse for them
it's like hey when we're not tipping you on the play calls uh the game is actually hard to play so
we'll see yeah so me because i know that's so important to you is like iq for a quarterback and
maybe you maybe you deserve a mulligan there but um so i was going to put him c tier do you do you
do you want him in the d tier bratt i think d tier yeah all right we go with that so

You can talk me into having this quarterback moved ahead of Herbert.
He doesn't have the same rushing upside, but like,
Honestly, he's kind of like Joe Burrow.
It's Dak Prescott.
I was just going to say, you're taking the words out of my mouth.
Here's, I'm going to pound the table right now for you to move DAC ahead of Joe Burrow.
Whoa.
Okay.
What is the difference?
That's a really good question, bro.
What is it?
It's a really good question that requires a complicated.
I mean, to be fair, Dak Prescott has never shown us the ceiling that a fully healthy Joe Burrow has showed us.
But it's like, it's not far off.
And honestly, more.
consistent. Since 2019, Dak Prescott by fantasy points per game has finished. You can see it on
the screen here in a second. QB3, QB1, QB9, QB6, QB4, don't worry about it. QB9. So like, there's like
consistently a QB1. The risk is really low. And this is a guy who Chris Wecht, best projections
guy in the industry thinks, leads the league in passing yards this year. George Pickens is a lead.
I mean, what is a better wide receiver duo?
Dallas or Sinci and how close is it?
That is a really good combo.
I think if you actually, I did tier these out on the first read show with Joe
Marino if you go listen to that.
I think we had the top three units in the league as Sinci, Dallas, and Detroit.
Detroit was a tier below those two teams, though.
It is definitely Sinci and Dallas at the top.
So I don't know.
I think Pickens and Lamb are two top 10 guys versus Bengals.
who have number one and like number 15.
So it's,
it really is tough.
Yeah.
Either way, though, it's so similar.
It's so similar, Scott.
This is why Burroughs F tier, though,
because, you know, it's,
it's kind of like the same thing.
Yeah.
You get Dak way later,
and he does the same thing.
The problem is,
the problem is I think he's D tier
because, you know,
he doesn't run.
So I don't see the top three upside,
which is really all that matters
at these onesie positions.
You know,
if you draft the Q,
B-10 who finishes QB-7, that's not really a win.
That doesn't really improve your odds of winning the championship.
That doesn't really matter all that much in terms of fantasy war.
Can I potentially make myself look dumb?
Sure.
So when you are attacking a draft and say you identify DAC as a guy you want,
you're also drafting another one, right, to try to stream your way into top three production between two guys?
Is that incorrect to say?
Like I would never just do a fantasy league draft Dak Prescott and then just be like,
he's my set it and forget it starter.
No, I'm going to probably try to grab like Baker Mayfield or Caleb Williams
and try to stream my way to QB3 finishes.
I mean,
is that the way to do it if you're going to do that?
I mean, I think that's fair.
You can say I'm pricing it.
Well, I'm pricing it as differently.
I will say if you read the draft guide,
Dak Prescott's the Exodia quarterback in six point per passing touchdown leagues.
In super flex leagues, he's an amazing pick.
But in a typical 12 team for passing touchdown,
where rushing upsides really that matters.
Top three outcome is really what matters.
He's C or D to you.
How big is it?
So I know you're saying top three is all that matters for QB.
But how big is it a miss if you don't get like top?
Like what's the breaking point?
Like you do need a floor there, right?
So like QB9 doesn't.
matter like every single year QB9 averages let's say 17 fantasy points per game and
QB 15 averages half 0.5 fantasy points per game less than that and those guys are like typically
on waivers or you could find like dude Matthew Stafford went undrafted and was added off
of waivers in week four and so that's why it upside wins championships you want to swing for
the fences and if you miss you have the safety net of the
waiver wire to fall back on but you also have the ceiling of the waiver wire because we see that
every year you know there are surprises you know baker mayfield could be another one could be
i don't know it's in a in a one qb league quarterbacks really don't matter and if you miss it really
doesn't matter nice all right the next guy the controversial one my boy
caleb williams williams yeah um i i think this is a a
completely respectable ranking, by the way. I'm not, we can debate the X's and O's and the
film stuff all day, but I think for what he does and the ceiling output you have with him,
I think 11's perfectly fun. Yeah. So Brett Whitefield, biggest Chicago hater, hates your pizza,
hates your quarterback. Um, I mean, I think this one's easy. I think I could be too low. I think
Ben Johnson is the best play caller for fantasy in the league. I think I'd put him above Kyle
Shannon and Sean Nick Day. I think he wants to break scoring.
records this year.
And yeah, Kayla Williams, you look at what he's done.
You know, he finished QB8 by fantasy points per game last year, despite ranking bottom
six in every accuracy metric.
So it's like, hey, what if he's average this year?
What if he's even good this year?
And he also runs.
Like he's a sneaky runner.
He was the fastest quarterback by GPS tracking last year.
And so, yeah, I feel good about this QB11 ranking.
I know you have major concerns regarding accuracy.
He did improve his sack taking issues, his rookie the sophomore year.
Yeah, he did.
Still a lot of self-induced pressure, though.
So I worry that that number is going to be a little flimsy.
Hopefully it's coached out of them.
The accuracy stuff, though, is really concerning.
If you go to the Fantasy Points Data Suite,
just put on some regular dropback filters,
and you'll see him near the bottom of the league with guys like J.J. McCarthy,
who for whatever reason don't get held to the same.
standard is Caleb Williams. But, and fantasy points data really is the best data source on the
planet. Why don't you actually listen to Ryan Paganetti tell you a little bit about fantasy
points data? There's some in the league, maybe more than some, that are really turned off by
these other providers that attempt to sort of grade the tape subjectively. There's people that
just wildly, wildly disagree with what those, the conclusions that are reached and the idea. And there's
players that hate it. A lot of the players really hate it when they're playing on Sunday night
football. And it says that they're 67th of 88 players when they're actually playing great.
I think that this other company that everyone kind of is familiar with, like they were very
dismissive at concerns from the team side. The players were, you know, relatively hostile about,
you know, some of the grading methodologies. Coaches were very hostile. I don't want to use any of
their stuff. Like, and it actually like it hurt my ability to do my job. I had no bias. There
There's no reason why I would particularly use like your guys data.
I simply just was intrigued by the idea of another vendor sort of competing in a world
where there was like kind of a monopoly.
You guys obviously have built like a significant market share in like sort of the consumer
market, but it's it's been entirely like merit based versus like this other group is essentially
having just like market power and having no one to really compete with.
And then, you know, I mean there's there's, there's widely been reported that there's
been like issues there's been sales and you know whatnot and like you know different moving parts
and whatnot you know people losing jobs and things like that but I'm the I'm just a believer in
meritocracy and like if there was another company that was called not fantasy points and they and their
data was better than your guys like I might you know point that out too but like I'm just I'm just
from what I have experienced like this stuff is awesome and it's helped me tremendously and like I'll
take a look at your guys data and I'll kind of cross check it with the film that I'm looking at and like
it's it's really excellent and it's it's it's really actionable and and i see what you guys are doing
on on social media all the time like you guys are turning out so much content that it's really just
lapping everybody that that i you know else that i see and you know you're seeing other companies
basically just give up on the media part of things because they i would argue that they almost
just can't compete with it because there's a lot of talent with what you guys are doing yeah thanks ryan
kaleb liens though i i i i everything bad i've ever said about kaleb doesn't matter for
the context of fantasy it's you've made the justin fields comparison
in a couple times where it's like we knew he was bad at football but he still gave you top three
qb upside i think caleb williams there's there's a range of outcomes where they're going to be
playing a harder schedule this year there's going to be a lot of come from behind performances needed
i think there's a world where Caleb could give you some crazy spike weeks if not top five performance
you know time after time so um i i feel comfortable with this where did you where did you tear him at uh yeah
Because he's he's super expensive.
He's going QB7 on Sleeper and Yahoo.
He's actually QB 13 on ESPN, but QB7 on Sleeper in Yahoo.
So D or F tier.
That's crazy.
How did you know, by the way?
I don't like Chicago style pizza.
Who does?
Was that a guess?
Who does?
Right.
So I said this on my show and I had a bunch of people come after me.
Like, it's so delicious.
And I'm like, I won't debate whether it tastes good or not, but it's not pleasant to eat at all.
Like the sauce is the temperature of lava.
You got to eat it with the full.
fork and knife. It's a casserole. It's not even a pizza. It's ridiculous.
New York style or nothing.
Or Detroit style is pretty good too, but I prefer New York. Yeah, it is. Have you ever had
Detroit style? It's awful. Next time you're in town, we're getting something. No, thank you.
All right, QB12 is my favorite QB to talk about on this list. He's your Exodia this year.
And I think you've a D tier, T-Tere, T, T, T, T, T, for Caleb.
All right, your Exodia quarterback this year. This is the big reveal. I've been waiting for this moment.
the whole show because you don't miss on QBs when it comes to Exota.
And I think you freaking nailed it this year.
Big Brett Whitefield sample of approval.
Malik Willis, quarterback Miami, this dude has a chance to break some stuff at his ADP.
Yeah, yeah.
So you just look at what he's done with the Packers.
He 0.72 fantasy points for dropback, which is over 30% more than Lamar Jackson, Josh
Allen.
Fantasy points per start, 23.6.
That would have been more than Josh Allen.
You look at it, you know, per four quarters even, 64.3 rushing yards per four quarters.
That's more than Lamar Jackson's career.
And that's just like a guaranteed to be successful.
Since the fall of the Berlin Wall, Cubies who hit at least 46 rushing yards per start,
average 21.6 fantasy points per game.
That would have ranked behind only Josh Allen last year.
And again, 64.3 rushing yards per four quarters.
If you want to do that on a per start basis, it works too.
And yeah, obviously there's a small sample here.
Obviously, it's a different system, maybe a system that was better for him.
But it's just obscene that you can get this guy so cheap.
He reminds me exactly of sophomore year Justin Fields where, yeah, that was the worst wide receiver room in football.
That was a bottom five offense.
And Justin Fields sucked.
And still, after the first month of the season, he averaged it over 25,
fantasy points per game was a major league winner and he sucked and so it's like yeah if malique willis
sucks he's going to be really good for fantasy because he runs and if he's any good he could break
fantasy you could be right up there with lamar jackson and jane daniels and jalen hurts and drake may
and so i like this yeah it people think he sucks and miami's going to suck you think he's really
good, Brett. You thought he looked awesome in preseason. You had a round one great on him coming out.
Yeah, and another factor. Like, he might be the most athletic starting quarterback in the league.
He's got a fourth, a sub four, four, 40 on record from his time at Auburn. His change of
direction skills are ridiculous. And I think Lamar has lost a little bit. So I think Lee Lewis might be the most athletic starting quarterback in the league.
They should run him a ton. He's got the build and the body composition to sustain that as well, unlike a guy like Jaden Daniel.
or Lamar who are skinnier, leaner athletes.
Malik is jacked, like legit brick house type stuff.
So yeah, and I had a first round great on him.
I thought everything I thought could derail his career,
ended up happening and derailing his career.
But he seems to have worked through that.
I think Matt LaFleur was great for him.
His first start with Miami in the preseason looked awesome.
It was a limited sample, only like, you know, 10 dropbacks or so.
But I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes.
And I do think at ADP, he's the easiest buy in the draft for sure.
All right, let's move it on.
Kyler Murray.
So Malik Willis obvious S tier.
Why do I keep forgetting to tear these guys?
What is wrong with me?
Do your job, bro.
I know, man.
Jeez.
So this has been the internal debate I had is who is the Exodia quarterback.
Is it Jackson Dart?
Is it Trevor Lawrence?
Is it Malik Willis?
Is it the next name on the list?
You gave it all away, Brett.
Yeah, officially in the books,
Malik Willis is the Exodia quarterback.
and I feel really good about it.
But I do also really like Trevor Lawrence.
I really like Jackson Dart.
And I really like Kyler Murray.
I feel really good about Kyler Murray.
Since 2019, only three quarterbacks average more fantasy points per game than Kyler
Murray.
That's Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Patrick Mahomes.
He's above Jalen Hertz.
He's above Joe Burrow.
He's above Dak Prescott.
All those guys go multiple rounds earlier.
Kylear Murray and Malik Willis.
Honestly, I could have had them both even higher in my rankings.
I just didn't need to.
These guys are insanely cheap in drafts right now.
Kyler Murray, QB19 on Sleeper, Malik Willis, QB 24.
And so, yeah, it's not just Kyler and what he's done throughout his career,
but it's also Kevin O'Connell.
His offenses have always smashed.
Nick Mullins, a career backup, had three-stress.
starts with Kevin O'Connell.
He had 303, 411, 3196 passing yards in those three starts.
You know, throwing to Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Joanne Jennings, T.J.
Hawkinson, that's a nice little wide receiver core.
And also, Josh Dobbs freaking, he hopped off of a plane on a Tuesday.
Five days later, didn't even start, dropped 27 fantasy points, and then 25 the next week, and then 19 the next week.
It's just a great system and set up the main issue I have, Brett, with Kyler Murray.
Does he stinks?
It was always that he's Gen Z, J. Cutler.
I don't think he cares.
I just don't.
And like, this is what you've heard from his coaches.
Brian Schottenheimer was asked, he was with the Cowboys, and he was asked about Kyler.
It was like, yeah, well, the thing about Kyler is, like, that offense would have worked a lot better if he ran more.
He just never wanted to run.
And then you had another quote from anonymous team.
when the Jets were looking at Kyler.
It was like, bro, trust me, you do not want Kyler on your team.
You heard there's like seven different quotes
or stories like that from insiders and anonymous teammates.
And it's also, let's not forget,
when you sign that contract with the Arizona Cardinals,
they worked something into it that he had to hit a weekly bonus
of if you watched three hours of tape,
he got like an extra $150,000 a week, something like that.
But then it caught on and they were embarrassed and they removed it from the contract.
But bro, the fact that you have to put that in there, there's also the joke, the meme.
Like if you look at Kyler Murray's stats before Call of Duty drops and after Call of Duty drops,
his stats always plummet.
And so I think there's really something to that.
And so the devil's advocate argument is, well, he's making the league minimum this year.
He's going to hit free agency next year.
So maybe he tries more than he's ever tried.
maybe he actually finally runs because it's probably more because you know post acl he's really not
run a lot maybe that's just more of a want to than an ability thing um so i really like it i that's why i
like malique and i like kiler they're so cheap and they have legitimate like overall qb1 upside that i
don't even know that a joe burrow has you know so um certainly really bullish
on Kyler. I would put an S tier, although definitely always drafting Malik Willis over him.
What do you think about that? I mean, you think he stinks?
Sam Donald tossed like 40 touchdowns in this scheme. Yeah. I mean, seriously, like,
yeah, I don't, this is another classic case of I don't care how I feel about the player.
I think he stinks, but he could produce like crazy in the scheme. And I think Kevin O'Connell could
get the most out of him for sure. So the situation around him is great. They have,
bookend tackles that are awesome.
They've got a young ascending interior group as well with elite pass catchers.
So I don't know what's, you know, what more you want for a quarterback.
And also a defense that prioritizes takeaways and negative plays.
So they're going to get a lot of opportunities.
I don't have a running game.
Again, I'll take Malik Wilson ahead of them every time.
Right.
No running game to speak of.
It's like they don't even care to run the ball.
They've Jordan, they run back Jordan Mason and Aaron Jones.
So you should trade for James Connor my guy.
How do you feel about nausea to your boys?
It doesn't matter.
It's the scam, Cam Scadaboo show, Tyron Tracy, you can cut him, trade him.
It doesn't matter.
Bad fit for the Roman offense, too.
All right.
Let's keep it moving.
QB, like I said, Roman offense, love that.
QB 14, Brock Purdy.
This is one of your favorite quarterbacks in the league.
I know that from talking to you a lot about QBs.
I was shocked at how low you have him.
This is my guy.
I love Brock Purdy.
I think he's the most underrated quarterback in football.
Look at it on the screen here.
Just compare him over the last three seasons to Joe Burrow and Patch from the Holmes.
He's better in almost every single statistical category.
Better in pass-a-rating, adjusted net yards per attempt, EPA per dropback.
He's number one.
He's best in the league over the last three years, completion percentage over expectation.
The only thing he loses out on his hero throw rate and catchable throw rate, Joe Burrow,
most accurate quarterback in the league.
The dude is awesome.
The problem is he's just kind of like Joe Burrow, Dak Prescott, and that he doesn't run.
And that's really the cheat code advantage in four point for passing touchdown leagues.
If you're in a six point, look at our projections.
That's really kind of what you want to be drafting off of.
But I love the player.
bro if if they dismantled the electrical substation five years ago do you know how many
super bowls this guy would have do you know how many like and for fantasy if he had George
kiddle CMC Ricky Pearsall healthy the the tackle too and it's like I love this guy I love him
but for for fantasy for fantasy I think he's what a C tier quarterback
Yeah, that's fine, I guess.
He's not as zero as a runner, though.
You said he doesn't run.
He didn't.
Hey, he ran a lot.
Well, actually, this is a crazy stat.
Is he in the fantasy playoff last year?
He averaged like 38 fantasy points per game.
It was one of the most, I think Trevor Lawrence just edged him out,
but they were both top five all time in NFL history.
Nice.
Yeah, here's a crazy stat I had for you.
Back to the haunted 5G electrical substest.
Over the last two years, when Brock Purdy, CMC, George Kittle, and Trent Williams were on the field together,
the averaged 0.25 EPA per play.
That was basically double any other team last year.
Like that's how good that offense could be if everyone were fully healthy and they're just never fully healthy.
Substation RIP.
All right.
Let's get to our last guy and get the heck out of here.
Patrick Mahomes, quarterback Kansas City Chiefs.
Yeah, he hasn't been good for fantasy in a while, right?
Well, he was good last year, and that's because he ran basically 2X as much as his prior career high,
and he's coming off of a devastating injury and probably isn't going to run as much this year.
And, you know, he signed Kenneth Walker and they want to run the ball more anyway.
And also, Pashtrae Mahomes has not been an accurate quarterback since Tyreek Hill left.
And so people are going to see this as a hot take.
I feel really good about Paschamahom's QB 15, D tier, F tier.
Yeah, I think it's tough for me to put them over like Bo Nix.
Like Bo Nix has led the league in dropbacks last year.
Very well could do it again this year.
Oh, should I put Bo Nix ahead of Mahoms, you think?
I think so, yeah.
And then Mahomes coming off in ACL, I do think their pass rate over expectation is going to drop precipitously.
I feel like you don't sign Kenneth Walker to the deal you do with a quarterback coming off an A.C.L.
ACL to not run the football more.
They also drafted Emmett Johnson, who looks like he could be a really good change of pace guy.
Do they still have Cream Hunt on the roster?
I have no idea.
That's a good question.
Show you how valuable Cream Hunt is.
We have no idea.
But anyways, yeah, I would put Bownecks ahead of.
Should we just slide Bownecks in since we're talking about him?
He's your QB 16 anyways, right?
Yeah, I don't know if he fits.
He's another D tier.
These guys don't matter.
He doesn't bone b'nix.
I don't see overall QB1 upside for him.
So I don't care.
You don't think Dix had getting the top three no matter what.
Led the league in dropbacks.
Very well to do it again.
So that's the argument is, hey, you just got Jalen Waddle.
Sean Payton's long been the fantasy QB whisperer where Teddy Bridgewater and James
and a bunch of backups all put up like mid to low end QB1 numbers.
He sucks by every measure by catchable throw rate, completion percentage over expectation.
and Bo Nix has not been good, but, you know, has been like QB8, QB9 by Fantasy Points per
Start. And so if he's like good or average, it's like the Caleb Williams argument. But again,
I don't see difference making upside. So I don't really care about it. All right. Well, let's get out of
here, Scott. That's going to do it for us today. But before this video ends, go over to FantasyPoints.com.
