What's up? I'm John Hansen.
Welcome to another edition of Hanson's Hints here at FantasyPoints.com,
Whether you're listening to a podcast or watching a video,
just know that there's also an article to go with this podcast slash video,
which is one of 12.
And to get into why I'm doing these,
every year I do the draft plan article on the website.
The best ball draft plan version of it is already up there at fantasy points.com.
The main version I usually release right after the first of August,
which will be the case this year.
but part of that big article and exercise is I map out my plan of action and all the positions
and they include the players that I'm targeting and when and all that.
I narrowed down the top 300 players on the board ADP-wise to my favorite 70 targets,
pretty exclusive company there.
But I also mock draft basically put the draft plan in action and mock draft from a variety
of spots.
and, you know, go through that process and map it out for people who read the article.
Well, this year I thought it would be cool to do like a podcast, podcast slash video,
and write an article on all 12 positions and use the fantasy points generator as well to kind of go through it.
So if you have the number two pick in your draft, do not fear because I have been studying the ADP.
I've gone through a variety of scenarios.
have tested it with the fantasy points generator software, which of course is specifically built
to for maximum efficiency, basically.
We're going to draft against the computer.
So they will be drafting very efficiently.
Optimal picks throughout based on the flow of the draft.
It all happens in real time.
Very sophisticated software.
So we'll likely listen to it a lot, maybe not all the time.
The goal, though, at the end of the mock draft.
that we're going to do right now out of the two-hole,
the goal would be to have the most projected points in the league,
basically to beat the computer.
So without any further ado, and of course,
check out any of the other positions.
If you missed it, I do have different types of insight,
whether I'm talking about drafting out of the one hole,
the two-hole, compare that to the 10 or 11 hole,
which I haven't recorded those videos yet as I'm recording this one.
But without any further ado,
let's go to the screenshot video.
And for those listening in podcast form,
I'll try and keep it as painless as possible
for those without the visual on the computer screen there.
But let's go to the Fantasy Points Generator
and see how gruelific we can be out of the number two hole.
Okay, here we are on the Fantasy Points Generator on the website.
We will create a new league as we look to dress.
from the number two spot and see how griffic we can be.
We'll select our draft position.
We're going to do a 12-team draft 15 rounds.
We do not care about kickers or defenses.
We're just setting up the software right now for those listening in podcast form
to get rolling here in mock draft against the computer out of the number two hole.
It's just going to help us make all our decisions and maximize our draft.
It's got all the algorithms.
I've got algorithms myself, though.
We shall see exactly what happens when we go from the two-hole and we're underway.
Here, if you're watching the screen, we'll go somewhat quickly.
We're obviously going to take Jamar Chase.
If someone takes Chase at two, of course, just a...
and Jefferson would be the recommendation.
Now, sometimes the software will recommend two receivers on the same team in back-to-back rounds
because it really is looking for the efficient pick comparing everything in terms of the available
player pool, the current run of the draft.
We're only up to pick number 23.
We're not going to take T. Higgins.
That's the recommendation.
We already have Jamar Chase.
Now, a week ago, I was messing with this from the two.
I was taking Josh Jacobs, but that's getting a little scary right now as we record this on July 23rd.
So I'll play it somewhat safe.
I do think this is the spot for you to get that anchor running back.
And then as you'll see, I don't think you need to address the position that hard after you get a round two running back.
So we'll settle on Ramandre Stevenson, who is the bell cow here, obviously for the Patriots.
They're going to bring somebody else in, though.
We'll move on, see what the computer says.
Yes, this is a pretty proactive pick,
but we do want to get in on those wide receivers quickly.
So we will, at pick 26, take Jerry Judy in round number three.
So now we open with two wideouts and a running back,
Chase and Judy along with Ramandre Stevens.
And now the software under Hanson's Hintz mode
is recommending J.K. Dobbins,
I do love J.K. Dobbins.
Without checking off Hanson's Sense mode,
just looking at the straight up analytics of the numbers,
it's recommending T.J. Hawkinson.
So differing opinions there.
It is a little somewhat randomized.
So the ADP, the draft board is not always the same.
That's by design.
Now, if you notice watching the screen,
the first player queued up is actually Joe Burrow.
and I've gone through this a couple of times
and I have come to believe,
as of right now,
things will change just a little bit with the ADP
that the pick is Joe Burrow
and especially because you have Jamar Chase.
So now we've got a beautiful hookup.
If that thing hits,
like I think it's going to hit,
boy, that is really, really good stuff.
Okay.
So now we're once again recommending J.K. Dobbins.
which is fine.
I do like Dobbins quite a bit.
We're at pick 50.
His ADP is, let's call it 57.
So it's a little early.
We do know we have Rashad White in our back pocket.
And I cannot quit the player I'm going to take.
We want to load up, get some really good receivers here this year in 2023.
I'm going to go Brandon Ayuk here.
So I'm going to open this draft 12 teamer out of the number two hole with three wide
outs, one running back, and my stud quarterback. Not too shabby. Let's move on and see what we see here.
Well, the recommendation is Rashad White, which is understandable. But let's take a look at the
advanced analytics real quick. If we waited a pick, we could still get Rashad. See, this is the power.
If you're watching the video, this is the power of this advanced analytics tab, because it basically
helps us predict who's going to be there. If we pass on a running back in this.
what's our next best running back likely?
So it really helps.
So if you see here, I can pass on Rashad now
and still likely get him with my next pick.
But if I pass on Jordan Addison,
well, I can't get him.
So I know he got in trouble over the weekend here.
I'm liking Jordan Addison.
If you notice, he's at the top of this list here on the screen.
If you're watching the video,
we will get pretty wide receiver heavy here.
We're through six rounds.
got four. This is not exactly how I roll, but I'm willing to adapt. And of course, here comes
Rashad White. We are a little light at running back now through round seven with Rashad as our
RB2. So we continue and we move along, see what the software is going to recommend. Boy,
it really does love Brian Robinson. He is boring. Let's take a look. Now if we waited a pick,
we could still get him.
Our guy Sky Moore is there.
We could get greedy with him.
So we're good, no matter what we do here.
I mean, it's just a question of which player do we take.
I will, let's see, I already did this.
I'll cheat a little bit here.
Yeah.
I am going to go tight end is what I'm going to do
because that is my number one starting position of need.
We're going to check in because we know we can get all these other guys.
Oh, wait a second.
That's a little early.
That's what we did.
Actually, no.
What do we just do here?
I'm cheating again.
Yeah, okay, we are going to go tight end.
Based on, that's a previous draft I did.
Full disclosure.
So I am prepared.
I've already gotten through this exercise off camera, if you will.
All right.
So in that last one, we did go with the tight end, as I thought.
So we are going to go with David Najuku
I'm not buying it with Evan Ingram.
I see he's available.
It's a possibility.
But I am feeling a David Injoku breakout this year.
I don't yet think we've seen his breakout season.
So it's a little bit of a proactive pick here.
But we'll see how the software likes it after it adds up all the projected points of all these teams.
I'm drafting, of course, against the software.
And there's another Brian Robinson.
and reference, but I really can't pass on my guy Skymore right here.
So we'll go with Skymore in round number nine.
So we are good, Ed Wide Receiver.
And now we're going to, of course, add to our running back depth.
Here's a sneaky one here.
I mean, Jerrick McKinnett.
I know they will likely add someone else,
but I think he's a very useful third back.
So we'll bring him into the fold.
And we move on.
We could go.
Let's see what it.
Oh, I got this.
Oh, you know what?
I did screw that up, actually.
Let me undo my last pick because I made a different pick because McKinnon, see, I didn't
look at the advanced analytics, but luckily I can go back.
There it is.
Look at that.
We just backed out of that pick.
So we are going to mock to our next pick in round 10 and we're on the clock.
It is recommending McKinnon, but you see, if I waited a pick, I can still.
get McKinnon. So we are going to go off the board just a little bit, I believe. And there was a
running back that I really liked. I thought it was pretty damn intriguing here. And ironically,
as ADP is 119. Kaleel Herbert. Very sneaky pick in round 10. I mean, the guy could easily produce
as an RB2. I mean, I actually went back and I looked because I think the bears are going to lose a lot of
games. Their win total is like the six lowest in the league at like six and a half. I looked at
his numbers when they were playing from behind and they were pretty good. He was like top third
league in a sample size that I drew. So I thought that was a good sign for Khalil Herbert.
We'll see what Rochon Johnson could do. The rookie. And Deonté Foreman, he's a game script
dependent guy. Not going to be used likely in the passing attack. We'll also see what Travis
Homer has to say about a role in the backfield. But I like that pick right there.
at 119 overall, especially for a team that really didn't hit running back that hard.
I got Ramandre, Rashad, Khalil Herbert, and now I'm going to hit running back again, by the way,
with Jerrick McKinnon.
There it is, in round number 11.
So I'm liking the team.
We're balanced as usual.
We certainly addressed wide receiver, which is necessary this year, software right now.
as we're trying to make our pick in round 12,
is recommended Kenny Pickett.
But as you see, if I waited a pick,
can he pick it's still there?
If I waited two picks,
Kenny Pickett's still there.
So why take them?
It is time now, I believe, to get,
we don't have the greatest tight end.
So I'm thinking that we should secure
one of the few tight end one type still on the board.
And that would be Cole Komet.
We'll bring him into the fold.
I mean, after all, the guy was the tight end eight last year.
year. I know because I had him at tight end eight.
Look like one of the worst calls I ever had in my life after week three.
And then boom, he scored seven touchdowns.
We could go, can he pick it here again?
But you see, if we waited a pick, he'd still be available.
I'm not even sure what I did here.
Probably went with a little bit of a somewhat boring guy, but probably a little less
volatile than Rashid Shaheed, who I do like Rashid Shaheed.
as an option but I'm going to go Alec Pierce who I definitely like in round 13 and moving on to
just two more picks here we can in fact now get our guy Ken pick it we do want to get that
solid QB2 in case God forbid burrow goes down I'd love me some Kenny picket of course and then
we'll close with a very interesting pick and this didn't come up when I tested this out a few days ago
because I guess there was somebody's stats that were affected that maybe moved down,
but how about a little Chase Brown as an RB5?
And so there is the squad.
We will sort here by position.
We've got a little starting lineup of Joe Burrow, Ramandre Stevenson, and Rashad White.
Jamar Chase, Jerry, Judy, Brandon Ayuk.
Very gruelific.
Our starting tight end is a...
David Najoku.
Of course, we do have two flexes.
So we got some sexy options here at receiver.
Jordan Addison and Skymore.
Very gruel.
Little Khalil Herbert as an undervalued guy, maybe a sleeper.
Jerich McKinn.
A solid bench tied in Cole Komet.
A solid, another solid receiver that would be our sixth in Alec Pierce.
Very good QB2 in Kenny Pickett.
And then an RB5 in Chase Brown.
who is, I think, going to get well over 100 touches no matter what,
but he's also a Joe Mixen injury away from being really impactful.
Great kid.
I interviewed him at the Combine.
I love to back Chase Brown.
Not a stud, but pretty intriguing.
My man was jacked up, by the way.
So there it is.
That's a 15-round draft from the number two hole.
The last thing we need to do is to see how we did going up against the computer.
The computer has been making.
all the other picks in this draft.
So now that the draft's over, it's going to add up all the teams and the starter points
and the total points.
Let's see how we did.
We did go off the reservation a couple of times.
We did go off the recommendation of the software.
So did it tax us or not?
Boom.
It did not.
As you see with the highlighted team here on the screen, if you're watching the video,
we came out with 2089 fantasy points, number one ranked Star, star,
group and then our total points were 2164 also ranking number one that is what looks like the plan
of attack or one viable plan of attack you don't have to take joe burrow in round number four i did
based on the way of the flow of this draft i think it worked out pretty well notice that i never
like to take a tight end and a quarterback relatively early so i held off a lot of
little on tight end and that really helped secure very good depth at receiver with Judy
with Chase Judy Iyuk then Addison then my guy Skymore very very good and once again
to run him back Rashad White is a big key because you can get this guy in round number seven and
that's fantastic value for a guy that we are projecting to I mean he really should be a top 20 guy
I forgot off the top of my head where we have them, but we're way over the markets.
This is, I believe, a very, very guruific team.
So there it is.
Drafting out of the number two hole, we'll be back with future podcasts for all 12 draft slots here.
