Starting point is 00:00:00 Week 4 waiver wire additions and sleepers you should be adding to improve your fantasy football rosters. Fantasy Football Daily here on the Fantasy Points Podcast Network, Theo Greminger with Joe Dolan and Tom Broly every single week. Guys, the wide receiver one heading into Monday night football, just as we expected, it's Trey Tucker with a 40.9 point PPR outburst, eight catches, 145 yards, three scores in Vegas's lost at Washington. Trey Tucker's interesting, 24 years old this past summer, Gino Smith levied a number of praises on him, said he reminded him of Santana Moss. This was a crazy performance. Should fantasy managers pick him up this week?
Starting point is 00:00:53 And just how enthusiastic are you about Trey Tucker? Kick it to you, Joe Dolan. Yeah, so Theo, there was one thing we did this offseason, whether it be early in the offseason before training camp drafting Jack Bess, who was the Raider's second round pick. And then later in training camp when it appeared that Dante Thornton was going to be ahead of Jack Bash. People were drafting Dante Thornton. And the reason was we thought there was going to be an opening in this offense with Gino Smith being an aggressive thrower for the Raiders to have a third passing target behind Brock Bowers and Jacoby Myers.
Starting point is 00:01:26 Well, it just turns out through three games, that's not either Thornton or Bash. It's Trey Tucker. And I think you have to reevaluate your priors in that situation. They're really struggling to run the football. Ashton Genty is averaging negative yards before contact. They haven't been blocking it up well. And their defense has been getting debacleed every week. So they are giving up points.
Starting point is 00:01:48 They have to throw. Gino's an aggressive thrower. Do I think Trey Tucker is going to be somebody you feel great about starting? Not necessarily, but the targets are there. I think he has, what, 15 targets the last two weeks? It doesn't look like this is just a part-time player. Yeah, it's actually, yeah, he's up to 17 targets over the last two weeks and has put up two pretty good weeks in weeks one and three. So very viable at this point.
Starting point is 00:02:13 And I'll compare him to another guy. Maybe he's a little bit of a Gino Smith, Tyler Lockett, as the Z receiver in this offense. I'm a stretch in the field a little bit. Jacoby Myers is back to his slot role that we previously saw up until last year. So we all thought maybe it could be Thornton as the vertical. threaten. I do think there's going to be some, you know, bouncing between these two. I think Thornton's still, you know, getting his legs underneath him as a rookie receiver. He certainly flashed in the preseason. But Trey Tucker's kind of filling that role right out
Starting point is 00:02:47 of the gates. And the bigger thing is Brock Bowers just doesn't look right right now. He's struggling. He's laboring through this knee injury, looked rough on the Monday night football game and doesn't sound like he is moving around much better in week three. So if Bowers is not going to be quite himself, that means there's going to be more targets to go around in this offense right now. So in terms of these low-end options that are out there, I like Trey Tucker as a little pickup off the waiver wire. Yeah, when it comes to Trey Tucker, I think that the most impressive thing about him is that he never leaves the field. This is a kind of a wild stat in 19 out of his last 20 games played. So that's this year and last year on things.
Starting point is 00:03:32 Fantasy Points data. You can access this really easily. And if you want to subscribe to Fantasy Points Data, use the code Theo, get 15% off. A huge, huge resource for you to win in fantasy. But he's on the field 80% of the time. This is under multiple offensive coordinators under multiple coaching staffs. And Trey Tucker is 24 years old. He has the electric speed. He was a day two draft pick. This is not some, you know, deep, deep cut. And I love what Joe said. And I think that Joe So like if this was Jack Besh or if this was Deontay Thornton that put up this number, you would see people saying to go spend 65, 70% of your fab. You've got this unbelievable breakout wide receiver.
Starting point is 00:04:15 Now, I don't think Trey Tucker, we know a little bit about them. Last year we talked about, so running a lot of cardio routes, but we do have the quarterback upgraded in Vegas. Trey Tucker has been a huge beneficiary of it. And I think we need to take this one seriously. I think a lot of fantasy managers are going to brush this one aside, but not every player is capable of coming out there and scoring a 40-pointer. This is not like a Sean Tucker last year,
Starting point is 00:04:42 sort of a Fugazi RB1 overall performance. I think Tucker could be a player that we're going to be happy we had on our rosters and we can throw him into a flex in these by weeks. Maybe he becomes a bigger part of the offense than we anticipated. And yeah, that Brock Bowers knee, if Brock Bowers misses some time, guys, Trey Tucker and Jacoby Myers, of course, would both trend up. Another wide receiver to talk about, I guess we're starting off with very, very fast
Starting point is 00:05:07 wide receivers. We've talked about multiple Kansas City receivers here. We had Hollywood Brown in week one. We're talking about Tyquan Thornton, who's on a little bit of a tear here. Five catches on nine targets has 71 receiving yards and a touchdown. We've had an incompletion followed up by them running almost an identical play. Tom, what is your enthusiasm level for Tyquan Thornton? Might be a short term get you through it until Xavier Worthy's back.
Starting point is 00:05:37 He does have elite speed and Kansas City is using him. Yeah, that's my issue with the Taekwan Thornton pick up this week. It's, you know, we're all, Xavier Worthy was trending in the right direction, wasn't quite ready to play in week three. It certainly seems like he could be back for week four. And we know Rishie Rice is also going to be back in the mix, starting in week seven. So Thornton is just a very temporary if you're really struggling at the position. Maybe if you had Mike Evans, he pulls his hamstring, is going to be out the next couple of weeks. You need a little bit of a fill in until Rishi Rice gets back through week six.
Starting point is 00:06:16 Maybe you can look at Thornton, certainly, you know, very close to a second touchdown in that game. You know, ball just barely touches the ground. Gets the ball down to the one yard line. You know, he's pointing up in the air with his one hand. It was kind of the meme moment of the night from that Chiefs Giants game. But certainly he's earned the trust here as the vertical threat, you know, especially against man coverage. You know, Xavier Worf-I mean, not Xavier Worthy, Hollywood Brown and Travis Kelsey are struggling to get open right now. So a lot of times in my homes is just trying to buy time and chucking it deep to Tyquan Thornton.
Starting point is 00:06:53 And, yeah, I think he's viable for the next couple of weeks. It's going to be, you know, Tyquan Thornton. It's boom or bust with him. But we're getting some hits here recently. So certainly viable for the next couple of weeks. Joe, anything to add on Tyquan Thornton? The only other thing I'd wonder is if when Xavier Worthy and Rishie Rice get back, I wonder if Tyquon Thornton is going to become kind of like a Marquez Valdez-Scanal-ish type of player or a,
Starting point is 00:07:23 or let's just throw it back to when the Chiefs were actually running an elite offense, maybe a Nicole Hardman type of player, where they dial things up for him, but it's not going to be consistent from a fantasy basis. If the Chiefs, and they would be correct to do so, by the way, evaluate that they can't run offense, the dink and dunk Mahomes way that they've been running it. I think when Rishie Rice and Xavier Worthy get back, it gives them an opportunity to entirely rebuild the way they play offense and get as much speed on the field as they can. I think Thornton probably is going to contribute in that way.
Starting point is 00:07:57 but I seriously doubt Theo that it's going to be in a way that you can trust for fantasy. I'm with Tom. If I'm comparing these two guys right now, Tyquan Thornton might have a week, two, three weeks more of real relevance. But Trey Tucker looks like the guy who's going to be the most relevant going forward of these two fast receivers. Yeah, and next week it's Baltimore coming into Kansas City. I think that Tyquan Thornton, the best thing about him is Travis Kelsey looks like he's complete dust. them getting away from like sort of the dink and dunk until Rashi Rice is fully healthy.
Starting point is 00:08:32 I think that's sort of how they have to play offense. They've got to take these shots downfield. We heard throughout the preseason that Kansas City is really putting an emphasis on improving the downfield conversions, taking shots downfield. They sort of played up just how much speed they have on this offense. And I think you're right. I think the MBS role is sort of ideal for Tyquan. Tyquine, of course, round two draft capital, but it was one of those guys with, it was like,
Starting point is 00:08:59 what is New England doing, taking him this highly? But he is an absolute burner. He can fly, and it is Patrick Mahomes targeting him downfield. But that offense, I know they won against the Giants, but it is an ugly, ugly, ugly site to see. Talking about a receiver that is sort of an out of nowhere target earner, Parker Washington yesterday, or excuse me, on Sunday, had 11 targets. pretty notable. This was a win over Houston, but 11 targets for Parker Washington. The week before his production was much better, five catches for 76 yards, caught all five of
Starting point is 00:09:34 his targets in week two. Week three, we see the targets tick up. So there's been a lot of complaints from, you know, Travis Hunter managers and certainly Brian Thomas managers. Parker Washington by far led Jacksonville in targets yesterday. Any interest in adding him on the waiver wire. Kick it to you on this one, Tom. Yeah, I do have some interest, at least temporarily. You know, it's trending in the wrong direction here for Travis Hunter. He's been playing more and more on defense. So I'm looking at these secondary receivers. We know the Brian Thomas issues right now. He, you know, survived a little bit last week because of the long reception at the end of the game that padded his numbers. But they were pretty, you know, pretty bleak again
Starting point is 00:10:18 in week three. So really concerned about him. Travis Hunter is traveling, you know, moving in the wrong direction here. So it's going to give opportunities to a Parker Washington, a Diami Brown, Brenton Strange here potentially. But Brown is out of action. He got hurt in the game last week. So Parker Washington has seen a bigger role. And if Diommy Brown's going to miss multiple weeks here, if Hunter is going to start playing more on defense, It certainly seems like Lawrence, he's looking for somebody to trust in this passing game right now. It hasn't been Brian Thomas. We know what happened at the end of last year.
Starting point is 00:10:58 Brian Thomas goes nuts when Mack Jones is in the lineup. You know, he was fine whenever Trevor Lawrence was a quarterback in the first half of the season. But it's looking like Washington, if you want to go a little deeper, if you're playing in a 14-team PPR league and looking for some help here over the next couple of weeks, especially if Brown is out. I think Parker Washington could be that guy. And Joe Dolan, a Penn State, Penn State receiver, Joe, obviously an affinity for Penn State. But Parker Washington, we've seen this before. Yeah, you guys are. We all. This is a big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big week against Oregon. But Joe, it's interesting,
Starting point is 00:11:42 because we've, we've actually had, I remember writing about Parker Washington in my Waverwire articles before. He's sort of had this in multiple seasons now where he pops up and gets some usage. And like Tom says, if you're in a deep or competitive format and everybody's rostered, it's going to be a cheap, cheap, cheap source of targets. Unlike the other guys, it's a player that we can sort of bank on. He's going to see a few targets. We saw five targets, now 11 targets. He's living inside the slot, not a high ceiling guy, but your enthusiasm level for Parker, Washington.
Starting point is 00:12:15 It's pretty low. And it's because of this offense. And look, we see the same Trevor Lawrence every year. And I know Brian Thomas isn't helping right now. If I have a Penn State guy on this offense that I trust a little more, it's Brent and Strange, actually. A guy, I know we're not jumping to tight ends yet, but he's the guy I trust a little more.
Starting point is 00:12:32 Like, I just think they're well aware they have to get their great players going right now. By the way, if Brian Thomas's catch rate was a three point percentage in the NBA, he'd be parked on the bench right now. 28% is what he's catching. I have to think that's coming up at some point. But otherwise, I have enjoyed divesting from this offense right now. The only place I have Travis Hunter and redraft, I can use him as an IDP, so I have a cushion there.
Starting point is 00:13:02 And then with Brian Thomas, I traded him in a league for Ashton Genty, and it was like it's a lose-lose trade, but I'm not really sure. I'm not really sure either of us is feeling good about it. I just, Theo, I just, I can't tell you I have much interest rate here. If you need targets, buy weeks are coming up.
Starting point is 00:13:19 Oh, I need eight targets for my receiver. In that instance, yeah, but I seriously doubt I'll be feeling good about starting Parker Washington on a weekly basis. Yeah, Breton Strange leading Jacksonville in receiving yardage. Brenton Strange was probably the best, the best pick you could have made at ADP of any of these Jaguars receivers so far this season. A very, very ugly scene. For many weeks, we talked up Eilich Iyamanner. And we're not going to victory lap every single week, but there's so many sites and there's so many shows that are similar to ours that are telling you this week to pick up Elyke Eamanner. Fantasy Point subs already have Eelick Iamanner on their roster.
Starting point is 00:13:58 We were promoting Elyke Eaminer at like the end of August guys. But let's talk about another day three rookie that is popping in a major way. And that's Tori Horton. Tori Horton, I mean, to find one word for Tori Horton, it's explosive. finds the end zone yesterday. Again, this is consecutive weeks. Also, the big punt return. Joe, how enthusiastic are you about Tori Horton? Would it be sort of simplistic to say he's a big contingent upside stash for when a Cooper Cup eventually misses some time? No, I'm much more excited about Tori Horton than I am about Tyquan Thornton or Parker, Washington, quite frankly.
Starting point is 00:14:39 Especially if you're in a league where you get return touchdowns, that gives you an entire other, like, layer. to play him in a flex. But I mean, Cooper Cup, he's been okay, I guess. Jackson Smith and Jigba is a dominant target. And Sam Darnold's playing pretty well. And we know Sam Darnold throws the ball aggressively. Now, I think Horton is the guy. Thornton might be getting the hype a little bit.
Starting point is 00:15:00 Maybe Washington, you see the 11 targets. He might be the guy I'd prioritize as my contingent player to Trey Tucker on the waiver wire this week. The routes were up for him this week, you know, right around 62% in our fantasy points data. Some of that probably had to do with the game flow. Obviously, Seattle was up, you know, pretty big in that game. But, you know, a promising uptick here in, in routes. So hopefully this continues. Maybe they get more three wide receiver sets. You know, the tight, you know, they've been using a lot of two tight end sets.
Starting point is 00:15:34 So, but not really getting a whole lot from that position. So Horton might start to force their hand a little bit here where they need to play three wide receivers a little bit more. and get his big playability on the field. And you think he would be a pretty nice compliment, you know, next to Jackson Smith and Jigba and Cooper Cup, who aren't necessarily like vertical receivers here. So get him out, you know, stretching the field a little bit, opening things up for even more for Jackson Smith and Jigba.
Starting point is 00:16:03 He does a fine job on his own creating separation. But you get a dynamic player like Horton on the field. Maybe that can help everybody else in this passing game. and, you know, the Seahawks are one team that I, you know, looking at from betting angles and everything. They're a team that I've been upgrading quite a bit here over the last two or three weeks. I've been pretty impressed. And this offense is, you know, under Kubiak is looking very strong here. So you want pieces of this offense.
Starting point is 00:16:31 And we're all expecting at some point Cooper Cup is going to show up on the injury report or that's just the way his career has gone over the last four or five years. So having that guy stashed in. Horton already, it could pay off big time in the second half of the season. Yeah, Horton, if you're a dynasty manager, he's also a player you really want to grab really, really strong production two seasons ago at Colorado State. And again, guys, it's just the eye test with Tori Horton just looks so explosive, absolutely looks the part. He was a player flashing in the preseason.
Starting point is 00:17:04 I'm very enthusiastic about Horton. This might be a waiver wire cleanup week where you're not going to have the opportunity to add him in latter weeks of the year. I will also mention before we finish out wide receivers, Malik Washington, they're starting to use him in creative ways. If there was a Tyreek Hill trade, if things go off the rails in Miami, if Tyree Kill misses some time, I think Malik Washington would be a pretty strong waiver wire ad.
Starting point is 00:17:29 I'll mention to comb your waiver wire for Christian Kirk. He might have been dropped, but eight targets yesterday, I think that's a role that's going to trend up. We're going to take a quick break. We come back. We're talking about running backs. and we're going to attempt to unwrap what's going on in the Washington backfield. Welcome back, Fantasy Football Daily.
Starting point is 00:17:48 Make sure you are checking out our waiver wire coverage on FantasyPoints.com. No one does it better. You can read Tom's Waver Wire article. You can read my waiver wire article. And you can use the code Theo and get 15% off any fantasy points package. And guys, a big shout out to the charting team, fantasy points data. it gets out earlier and earlier. We record on Mondays and everything is up on the site.
Starting point is 00:18:15 So you're not sitting there waiting. You have access to the best data, the best analytics anywhere in fantasy football over on fantasy points.com. Level up your fantasy game with a fantasy point subscription. And if you're 0 and 3, we got a little bailout for you. Come over to fantasy points, see if we can't turn things around. Before we talk about the Washington backfield, though, let's mention Trey Benson. if you're in a very shallow league or if Trey Benson happens to be available, Tom, could this be the waiver wire ad of the entire season?
Starting point is 00:18:48 Certainly shaping up that it could be. I think he's going to be like a high-end RB2 the rest of the way. Maybe he can creep into that top 12 production, but it's looking like a huge role is headed for Trey Benson here. James Connor unfortunately suffered a severe, you know, ankle. injury in week three that's going to end his season. Trey Benson has been trending up before this. He was kind of splitting, you know, rotating a little bit.
Starting point is 00:19:18 And he had bumped Amari Di Mercado from the offense and passing situation. So Benson was trending up anyway. Numbers looked great in the first couple of weeks. And then we get this major injury with James Connor. So just check your waiver. Maybe he's sitting out there. Just do a little quick search. Yahoo's legs, he's available in 50% of leagues.
Starting point is 00:19:40 So if you're playing a shallower format, like a 10-team format, there's a chance that he might be out there. But most of the work is going to be consolidated with Trey Benson moving forward. Maybe Amari DiMercado in some deeper formats. I would think that he probably mixes in in some passing situations moving forward. But I don't think he's going to have a massive role in the running game. So if you're in a really deep league, maybe Demarcato, just hoping for a handful of catches each week. But Trey Benson is set up for a pretty massive role here moving forward.
Starting point is 00:20:18 Yeah, and DeMercato, DeMercado all says is interesting because the coaching staff used him last year when it was sort of the Trey Benson. They didn't seem to trust him. They trusted Demercato. And the one question mark, if Benson's available, it's an 80% plus fab act. Or just unload it all. I mean, this is what you wait for. This is what you wait for, right? Like normally you have it week one.
Starting point is 00:20:41 This happened week three. That's the answer. It's close to 100%. And even if you've spent a couple bucks already and you put 100% down, you might not even get him in your league. That's, that's it with trade bets. This is the ad. And he is a not in my league, bro guy.
Starting point is 00:20:57 I checked all my leagues. He's not available. But if he is out there, it's basically all your fat. Yeah. And D Mercado is interesting because the coaching. staff seemed to trust him last year. He can catch the football. And I think the one question mark with Benson is can he hold up to a James Connor work like workhorse like role? I think that he's going to get it. But if he were to miss time now, Amari Di Mercado is sort of the next man in. Interesting one.
Starting point is 00:21:23 Last year, Demercato had a number of games where he caught some passes, decent pass catcher. And the coaching staff does have familiarity with him and will use him if there's a Benson injury. Let's try to unwrap this Washington backfield, though, Joe. This is a wild one. Jeremy McNichols had the really big play. Four carries 78 yards and a touchdown. Almost everything came on the one big explosive play. We didn't see if they needed to use him as a pass catcher out of the backfield
Starting point is 00:21:51 because this game was so out of hand for Washington. Washington was so in control that there really weren't the targets to the running back position like we might see with Jaden Daniels behind the center. Then you got Chorri Crosky Merritt, who has eight carries and a touchdown, has one catch, the only catch by a Washington running back. The interesting one, though, was Chris Rodriguez, who's the most widely available across all formats. Like Jeremy McIntyles would pick up in a lot of FFPC, a lot of NFFC leagues last week, thinking he would take on some of the Echler role. Rodriguez, though, is widely available, and he did have 11 carries. Do you have interest in adding Rodriguez?
Starting point is 00:22:32 is this a backfield you're looking to avoid? Is this a mess? What to make of this one, Joe? I'd like to see it in a competitive game, but like if you want to dig into the fantasy points data suite, you're not going to get many answers. The one thing I will tell you is that Jacori-Kroski-Marrant led this backfield in expected fantasy points.
Starting point is 00:22:50 And he led this backfield in opportunities in the game. He led the backfield in routes. And he had the only target of these backs. But Jacori-Crossi-Mir-Ehran. and Chris Rodriguez split the work down the middle inside the red zone, both inside the 20 and inside the 10. They had equal number of opportunities in there. Jeremy McDickles didn't get a red zone opportunity.
Starting point is 00:23:13 Look, I think the Chris Rodriguez thing, first of all, how do you predict it? How do you predict that somebody who's been a healthy scratch the first two weeks is going to get the first five carries in the game for a team? You can't predict that. My read on it was it was the coaching staff rewarding him for being a good soldier, right? That's what my read on it was. Now, does that continue into the future week?
Starting point is 00:23:32 I don't know. If I had to say, Theo, the guy I prefer to have is Kroski Merritt, but we can deal with two running backs. I don't know if we can deal with three. I don't know if we can deal with three. It's a mess. I think certainly for week four, don't try to start a Washington running back. See if you learn a little bit more out of this. Maybe this is a backfield that's just going to sort of evolve. And the Kroski Merit thesis is going to come into play. but it's a little bit more of a by mid-season, we start seeing him taking over maybe 50% of this backfield. Tom, if you had to pick an ad between Jeremy McNichols and Chris Rodriguez, which way are you leaning this week? I would go Rodriguez again. I said Rodriguez last week.
Starting point is 00:24:16 And quite honestly, guys, I think they're having a little bit of an open competition right now. So I don't think it's a bad idea to at least pick up pieces of this backfield. I don't know if they're sold on Corey Kroski Merritt, just yet. yet. He's, he's, has the lead here, but I get the feeling, you know, that Jeremy McNichols, I feel like he's going to be just the third piece here. But I think they're having a little bit of a competition between Rodriguez and Bill right now. So, I would be adding Rodriguez, you know, I thought he looked fine in this game. And as much as praise as Bill got in the summer, he got all the beat reporters talking about him. But there was also some positive buzz
Starting point is 00:24:58 for Rodriguez as well and how he slimmed down a little bit, how he worked on his passing game, some. So I do think this is a little bit of a competition. And I would be adding Rodriguez if I was in a really tight, you know, competitive league, just in case the backfield does swing in his direction. We saw him get, you know, large opportunities right out of the gates. So I think they're, you know, trying to keep him pleased. And so right now, if I was picking up players in this backfield. I, you know, obviously I would go to Corey Kroski Merritt number one based on his standing before the season, before the Austin Echler injury.
Starting point is 00:25:37 But I would go Rodriguez, you know, number two and then Jeremy McNichols number three. So this is going to be one of those backfields that could keep evolving as the season moves along. Yeah, volume is king in fantasy football. And if Rodriguez get 11 carries here, it's worth taking another look to see if this trends up. not a big fan of the talent with Rodriguez. And again, it's hard bet on guys that did nothing in year one and year two that are that are late late day three picks coming out and having a big fantasy impact. Just sort of a weird bet to make.
Starting point is 00:26:11 But again, this Washington backfield does seem wide open. I will mention that Najee Harris significant injury for Najee. Hassan Haskins looks like he is the handcuffed in Tennessee. If you are, excuse me, in L.A. If you're rostering Omari and Hampton, he's an interesting player to add and sort of lock down that L.A. backfield. Hampton's volume is going to trend up. Hampton had a real big breakout performance. Interesting player, though, Joe, is Taj Brooks. Because Samage P. Ryan also gets injured here.
Starting point is 00:26:42 And now we've got sort of, we had a sort of a disaster and a lot to not really a whole lot to unpack here. Cincinnati got walloped by Minnesota. Minnesota's defense put on an absolute clinic to two pick sixes. just completely annihilated Jake Browning. My Jake Browning enthusiasm took a real gut punch yesterday. But what's interesting is, Tosch, though, there could be a window here because Chase Brown cannot run the football so far this year. He's sub three yards per carry.
Starting point is 00:27:14 We saw Chase Brown catch a couple of passes. This is not something that I think is going to happen tomorrow. But at some point, they have to consider getting another running back involved in the running game in Cincinnati if Chase Brown is going to struggle this much. And it's sort of a, I don't want to use the word one year wonder when it comes to Chase Brown. But stranger things have happened in fantasy football than a guy that was really good last year being not so good this year and sort of regressing and teams having to give another
Starting point is 00:27:44 man an opportunity. Taj Brooks, a ton of success as a collegiate at Texas Tech. There was a lot of enthusiasm where he was a pretty much drafted. in every NFFC, FPC type league as sort of this high-end handcuffed. Now you actually have the potential that he's a handcuff, not as much high-end with the regression of the Cincinnati offense. But Joe, if he's available in your league, is he a player that you're looking to add to your roster?
Starting point is 00:28:11 If it's a deeper league, look, he's available 99% of Yahoo Leagues. I think, Theo, this is an environment failure for Chase Brown. Ryan Heath put out a tweet on Monday saying that of running backs with a minimum 30 carries. Chase Brown is tied for second in the league in being contacted behind the line of scrimmage with Bucky Irving at 32% of his runs. The only running back with a higher percentage
Starting point is 00:28:37 is Ashton Genty right now. And I do believe for Chase Brown, that is an offensive line stat. So I don't know if Taj Brooks is going to have a little more success in the same environment. Maybe he's just not seen ghosts the way Chase Brown might be. But yeah, the Bengals might have to try something here to steady the ship until Joe Burrow or if Joe Burrow can get back late in the
Starting point is 00:29:00 season. But it's not, it's not exactly an environment that I think will, will ferment a really successful fantasy breakout. Tom, a running back that is a little bit more exciting is Woody Marks. We saw him with some elevated usage last week. It ends up with this past week, we see him again sort of mixing in. So against Tampa Bay, we see a 37-yard reception, gets three carries. Now we see him get up to six carries, has another reception. Woody Marks, though, has a profile that would be pretty fantasy friendly if Houston starts using him in an increased manner.
Starting point is 00:29:39 What's your enthusiasm level with Woody Marks? Pretty high here. I moved him up pretty high on our waiver wire article. I have him basically right behind Trey Benson at this point. This is two weeks in a row where we saw him get elevated into a bigger role. Damian Pierce, healthy scratch in week two, healthy scratch once again in week three. But the big development in week three was Dari Agumboale, having no role in the offense. Didn't play a single snap in week three.
Starting point is 00:30:08 They went to strictly a two-man backfield with Nick Chubb in Woody Marks. So, you know, a huge development after what we saw in week one, they were trotting out four different. backs and now we've seen in back-to-back weeks where they've eliminated Pierce and they've eliminated Ogunba Waleigh. We'll see if this sticks moving forward. This is a bad offense right now. I'm not super excited to have Woody Marks, but he would be a priority ad for me. And, you know, the routes were, you know, he paced the backfield this past week. He had 37% of the routes compared to Nick Chubbs 33%. So that's a great sign. This is a team that's going to struggle to run the ball anyway.
Starting point is 00:30:52 They're going to be, you know, it looks like they're going to be dropping back the pass more than than they're going to run right now with the, with how badly they're playing. So at some point, maybe they need to start developing some of these targets that aren't downfield, you know, Christian Kirk is back in the lineup. You know, we need to start getting the ball out of CJ Stroud's hands a little bit quicker. So maybe that means more targets to Christian Kirk. Maybe that means more targets to Woody Marks. in the underneath game here.
Starting point is 00:31:21 So he would be a priority for me. I'm just worried about his upside in this offense. The Texans, there's just not much rush running back production coming out of this backfield right now. But I mean, Nick Chubb, you know, he's probably right up there with like J.K. Dobbins in terms of backs that if somebody's going to get hurt later in the year, it could certainly be Nick Chub.
Starting point is 00:31:45 We've heard nothing about Joe Mixon. So, you know, Woody Marks, is, you know, one of my top stashes at the running back position this week. Yeah, I'm with you there. And one other running back to mention, Kyle Menangai, who over the last two weeks has 13 carries, also has two catches. If DeAndre Swift were to miss time, Menangai, I think would go right into that lineup. And Chicago, big, big performance against Dallas last week.
Starting point is 00:32:11 The upcoming schedule for the Bears is very, very fantasy friendly. Caleb Williams had four passing touchdowns last week. We saw Luther Burden sort of break out. So Chicago is trending up a little bit. We're going to take a quick break. When we come back, we're talking about, is it Jackson Dart Time in New York right after this? Welcome back, Fantasy Football Daily, Theo Greminger with Joe Dolan and Tom Brawley.
Starting point is 00:32:35 Joe, I skipped Tulsa King to watch the New York Giants against the Kansas City Chiefs. And I sort of wish I would have watched Tulsa King because the fourth quarter, we ended up watching one of the ugliest final minute drives. in the NFL history. Russell Wilson was so, so bad. It was the quarterback keeper. What are they calling on that? It was the intentional grounding from the five-yard line.
Starting point is 00:32:59 I cannot believe at this point. The fourth down throw into the stands? Like, just throw it up to somebody. The Giants fans are booing. The Giants fans are chanting. We want dart. You talked about this, Joe, where you said, you had the very practical, very pragmatic take
Starting point is 00:33:18 that when Andrew Thomas is back, that's when maybe we'll see Jackson Dart. Well, we're expecting to get Andrew Thomas back in the lineup maybe next week. Should we see Jackson Dart take over? I mean, this is so painful to watch. The tertiary pieces around him are decent. Cam Scataboo is breaking out. Malik Neighbors had the unbelievable week. Goose egg yesterday against Kansas City, but Malik Neighbors, one of the best in the league.
Starting point is 00:33:43 Wondell Robinson, that huge game against Dallas. There's talent on this offense. that with the right signal caller, they could at least be a viable, weekly, decent offense, not these crazy ups and downs and painful stuff to watch. If Jackson Dart is available in your league, how excited are you to add him on the prospect that he would take over this offense, Joe?
Starting point is 00:34:05 Excited? That might be a little, that might be a little much, but you said there is talent. Andrew Thomas was in and out in that game last night. By the way, for that final drive, I'm going to have to go turn it on because I was watching the inside of my eyelids. before it. I think the game
Starting point is 00:34:20 put me to see it. You should definitely check it out. It's so, Joe, you know what? Joe, just skip it. Don't watch it. All right. Well, I mean, if you want to watch it too. I mean, here's the problem, though. Like, I look at week number four. That charger defense is flying around.
Starting point is 00:34:34 That's the Giants matchup in week four. All right. How about week five? Oh, here's a good opportunity. How about the Saints on the road for Jackson Dart? Oh, we love that. But then it's a quick turnaround to Thursday night against the Eagles. So at some point, does Brian Daibald just say, I have to take the Band-Aid off? Does he just say, look, there's not a perfect time to start Jackson Dart.
Starting point is 00:35:00 Because if you start him in week five against the Saints, maybe he has a good game, but then you have to play the Eagles on a short week. And then in week seven, they have to go on the road to play the Broncos, whose defense isn't looking as good as we thought, but still it's a tough schedule for the Giants. And this was the problem with Jackson Dart heading into the season. The Giants had the hardest schedule in the NFL just by the luck of the draw. And it's hard to find a spot to really ease Jackson Dart into the lineup. Now, if they're 0 and 4 after next week against the Chargers and you have no expectations,
Starting point is 00:35:32 then maybe, you know what? You just say he's got to play the Eagles eventually. We'll throw them out against the Saints and then it's the short week to the Eagles. But that's the problem for me is finding this runway, Theo, to get Jackson Dart going. But if Russell Wilson continues to play the way he did in week one, and week three, well, they're not going to have a choice. Yeah, if I was set in lines, I would be setting week five as the favorite. You know, it's not an odds-on favorite type of situation, as you're saying, Joe.
Starting point is 00:35:57 But I would set it at plus, you know, 175 that he is, that's where he makes his first start is in week five against the Saints. This is another game this week against the Chargers, five and a half, six point underdogs, at home, another tough matchup. I'm not expecting much success for Russell Willis. Wilson in this matchup. The Cowboys, for whatever reason, can't defend deep. That's the one thing that Russell Wilson wants to do right now. He tried to kill Malik neighbors a couple of times on Sunday night football. The Chargers, that's like the one thing that they do exceptionally well
Starting point is 00:36:34 on defense. They kind of limit you. They make you check it down. You're not getting over the top on that defense. So I'm not expecting a whole lot of success for Russell Wilson. Another home game where the fans are going to be booing and the vitriol is going to be out for him. So I'll make the prediction that Jackson starts. Jackson Dart starts in week five against the Saints. Yeah. And Joe, I think all the stuff you're saying is so true that it's the schedule is tough. It's like sort of a baptism by fire.
Starting point is 00:37:05 It's not an ideal smooth transition. This is certainly not Joe Flacco handing the torch to Lamar Jackson. This is certainly not Alex Smith handing the torch to Patrick Mahomes. This is, we're an absolute mess. Here, do what you can with it, but you do have a couple of decent receivers and running back trending up in Cam Scataboo. With Dart, I think he's, the fantasy friendly aspect of him is going to be the mobility. We saw it in the preseason, whether it's scrambling for his life, whether we see a little
Starting point is 00:37:36 bit of Drake May, 2024 type usage from him with better receivers. I think that's sort of the, that's sort of the dream for fantasy managers when it comes to DART. The waiver wire for quarterback has just not been that friendly this year. And DART, I think at least has some upside with the mobility. And I think another thing about DART is, if you're a conspiracy theorist, Brian Dable can save his job simply by having a rookie quarterback out there because the Giants in the offseason might say, hey, let's give him two years with this same coaching staff, see if they can turn around with Jackson DART. So for me, I agree with you. I think it's New Orleans for DART. That's the
Starting point is 00:38:15 week we'll see them and thank God because I don't want to watch any more New York Giants games with Russell Wilson behind center besides the Dallas game that that was a really really fun one to watch another quarterback where we talked about him after week one gino smith jino smith week one had 360 passing yards on the road in new england Vegas got a win and i was a little bit enthusiastic about gino then week two an absolute dud throws an interception on the very first offensive possession of Vegas, a complete disaster game. He has three interceptions. Then yesterday, now the game flow really helped this a lot, but these garbage time points count in my league the same way as our first quarter points. And Gino ends up with what's looking like
Starting point is 00:39:05 a top five QB performance. Again, we're recording this before Monday night football. But Gino goes 360 passing yards in week one, 289 in week three. Again, three touchdowns. We talked about Tucker. We talked about the receivers in Vegas. Could this sort of be what Gino is this year, a quarterback that we're using when it dictates and sort of on the streaming radar all season long? Chicago, not a bad matchup for him this week. Joe, your thoughts on Gino. Yeah, pay attention to the projected point spreads, the projected totals when it comes to Gino, because Gino will throw picks. And Gino is going to be one of those guys who you start them like you did against the Chargers.
Starting point is 00:39:48 And you're like, oh, my God, what the hell happened? And then you get an opportunity to start him against a defense that will allow points the way the Chicago Bears will. And he's going to throw the ball over the field for better or worse. He will give his receivers a chance to make a play. I would like to see Brock Bowers looking better. But at the very least, Gino gives you a ceiling for a streaming quarterback. And if you catch them on the right week, that could be the difference between a win and a loss. And we have one of those highest totals on the board this week in this matchup against the Bears sitting right around 47 and a half, 48 points.
Starting point is 00:40:22 Tight spread as well. You know, it's right around Raiders minus one or the Bears minus one. So could be some back and forth action in this one. Maybe it develops into a little bit of a shootout. And yeah, the Bears defense got a little bit of reprieve yesterday with C.D. Lamb going down early in that. game, but they were giving up the most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks through the first two weeks. And, and Dak Prescott still, you know, put up 251 in a touchdown without CD Lamb in the lineup. So this is the type of matchup that we want to play Gino Smith in. And it doesn't hurt that,
Starting point is 00:40:58 you know, we talked about Trey Tucker earlier in the show. He's coming on and maybe Brock Bowers, hopefully with another week removed from this knee injury, maybe he's moving around a little bit better here in week four. And Tom, you talked about Seattle and Seattle is a team that's really trending up. Do you think that that is also going to potentially include Sam Darnold? Sam Darnold, we had the sort of non-game in week one. They were trying to take the air out of the football. It was San Francisco. They lose it in really disappointing fashion. Seattle could be three and O. But over the last two weeks in Pittsburgh and against New Orleans in a game where it was sort of Seattle just hanging a number on them.
Starting point is 00:41:40 We've seen four passing touchdowns for Darnold. Do you think that this is a quarterback trending up a little bit? You talked about the Kubiak offense. Kubiak last year, early in the year, we saw Derek Carr put up some really, really big numbers. Darnold, of course, last year was a big waiver wire ad. Do you think that we could have that same Darnold enthusiasm by midseason? Or is this a player really only for Superflex managers?
Starting point is 00:42:05 Yeah, still more for Superflex managers at this. point, they still want to play a pretty deliberate style. The Vikings offense last year that he was in, one of the most past heavy under Kevin O'Connell. You know, I think they were top six, top five or six. They want to throw it a lot. That's not necessarily true with the Seahawks offense, but maybe it will trend upward a little bit.
Starting point is 00:42:29 You know, we were talking about Tori Horton earlier in the episode. If they try to get him out in the field a little bit more, maybe that means the pass rate will go up a little bit, but he doesn't, you know, he doesn't add a whole lot as a runner as well. So I'm a little bit more skeptical on him being like, even like a mid-QB2 the rest of the season. I just worry that there's just not enough passing volume and not enough rushing production for him. I'll mention Carson Wentz, a solid first outing, taking over for J.J. McCarthy again, that was not really competitive environment, but Wentz had some nice moments connected with T.J. Hawkinson on a touchdown late. Joe, my question for
Starting point is 00:43:05 you yes or no on this one. Should Superflex managers be adding Kirk Cousins after the goose egg put up by Michael Pennix? Is this something where they're saying Pennix is going to start this week? But we saw this sort of scenario last year with Bryce Young and Andy Dalton where it was sort of a quick hook and a return back to Bryce Young. Could we see that this year with Michael Pennix? I didn't think I'd be asking this. I had a lot of enthusiasm about the Zach Robinson in offense, but 30 to nothing sort of raises a number of eyebrows, especially when you consider cousins came in off the bench. Yeah, there is no, in fantasy football, there is no piece of currency more valuable than a quarterback
Starting point is 00:43:51 in a Super Flex League. And you, like, you have your obvious investments, right? If you buy stock in Apple, you can expect that that's going to at least produce a relatively good return. you have to occasionally you have to make a speculative ad right and this is one this is a speculative investment but if kirk cousins is starting games it's going to pay off if kirk cousins gets traded it's going to pay off you know what if the bengals decide we literally cannot do this anymore we have to go somewhere now the kirk cousins should be should be rostered in maybe not 10 team
Starting point is 00:44:26 super flex leagues but 12 team and up absolutely he should be rostered in every one of them now 100% agree with you let's pivot over to the tight end position. We've talked about this for a number of weeks here. We unpacked Quentin Johnston earlier this on our show. We had talked about Keenan Allen on our show. Our general enthusiasm level for the LA Chargers offense through three weeks, L.A. is three and O, all versus the AFC West. Scott Barrett and I talked about potentially this could be a Justin Herbert MVP season last year on School of Scott. Certainly had an MVP moment. The real offense of change that everybody's talking about right now is Omarian Hampton.
Starting point is 00:45:08 Of course, with Najee Harris out, Hampton is trending up. But the player that's available to us in waiver wires, another sort of significant change if you go deep into the box score was L.A. actually utilized a tight end. And it was a Ronde Gadsden who had one of the most intriguing profiles of any of these rookie tight ends, an overgrown wide receiver type. tons of enthusiasm this off season, lots and lots of quotes from Harbaugh, from Greg Roman, just about how good Arronday Gadsden could be. An awesome debut game for him in a very competitive environment, a road win in Denver,
Starting point is 00:45:49 a win against Denver. Gadsden has seven targets, catches five of them. And when you compare this to how invisible Tyler Conklin has been this season, to me this is a significant, significant situation to monitor. Tom, how excited are you to add Gadsden to your rosters as a speculative tight end? Yeah, if I was in a really deep league. But in most formats, I still think this is a just kind of watch the situation a little bit. For as well as he played yesterday, it was still just a 29% route share.
Starting point is 00:46:26 They were still, you know, Tucker Fisk, I think, led the tight ends in SnapShare. you know, Conklin was still involved, and Will Disley will be back in the mix. So as much as I'd love to see Gatston, you know, grab a huge role in this offense, I just don't know if that's the way Harbaugh and Greg Roman are going to deploy these tight ends. I think we're going to have one of these gross committees for most of the season. But he's certainly on my radar right now. But, yeah, it has to be a really deep league where, you know, you have a huge bench, and he's kind of the last guy.
Starting point is 00:46:59 but he certainly flashed, you know, he looked like a wide receiver. You know, that's what he did at Syracuse before his final season and coming out into the NFL. So he has a lot of those receiver traits. And, you know, the problem is we're, you know, a lot of people in the fantasy community are worried about Lab McConkey. There's a lot of mouse to feed here. Quentin Johnson's still very involved. He's not going away at this point. If he has spent a lot of fab or used a waiver priority,
Starting point is 00:47:29 on him out of week one you're very happy at the moment keenan allen is still very much a thing so even if everything kind of breaks right gadsden would still probably be the number four receiver in this offense yeah gadson to me again i think it's it's league context if it's a deeper format i'm looking to add them ffpc managers though and other tight end premium managers i think he's a priority ad this week because it's the first time we've seen them actually target the tight end position and his profile again athleticism through the roof. Scott Barrett talked about him a lot this offseason as a tight end. he was really, really into. A tight end, though, that does have a potential to carve out a decent weekly floor, Joe is Chig Oconquo. We saw his best season, best game this season on Sunday,
Starting point is 00:48:20 11.6 ppr points, but we have two consecutive weeks where he has had six targets. Again, it's not necessarily a high ceiling, but with Calvin Ridley just failing to fire off, our guy, Ily Aya Manor already rostered in a lot of leagues. Are you interested in adding Chigacanquo as a tight end who, at least you can bank on a floor here, Joe? Yeah, sort of. And the reason I would say it's different than Aranda Gadsden is because the other mouths to feed here, most notably Calvin Ridley, have been disappointing, especially Calvin Ridley. Iamander's been great. But Calvin Ridley's been really disappointing. And I wonder if the Titans are going to be looking for somebody that Cam Ward can rely on. So I have more interest in redraft in Oconquo than I do
Starting point is 00:49:07 in Gadsden. If I was in a dynasty format, keeper format, I would prioritize Gadsden for now. But I just think the Chargers are a better offense. But Chigacanquo, to me, he's a fantasy yo-yo. He's going to be on and off rosters up and down, up and down, up and down. And he's probably going to be added quite a bit when some guys go on by. But I don't know if he's going to be somebody who's going to stick around on my roster. Yeah, I think you sort of nailed it. I think, again, a Conquo, he's just good enough to stick on a lot of rosters. But he's a guy that if you have a, you're not going to hold him through by weeks kind of guy ever.
Starting point is 00:49:45 We will mention to check out your waiver wire for Brenton Strange. We like him a lot. I think he's sort of settled in, had another decent game yesterday, six catches on seven targets. And we will mention we are recording this before Monday night football. Mark Andrews has done zero throughout the entire season. Isaiah likely returning soon. Check your waiver wires for him as well. We have a loaded week here at Fantasy Football Daily.
