Breaking down fantasy football week three, the top 10 takeaways,
the biggest reactions, and the breaking news and injuries you need to know
to get ready to crush week four right here on fantasy points.
What's going on, Theo Greminger, Fantasy Football Daily, breaking it down every week here on Fantasy Football Daily on the Fantasy Points Podcast Network, giving you the biggest takeaways you need to know from a wild, wild week three.
This was a fun week.
This was a wild one.
We had a couple of really, really big performances.
We had a couple of duds.
And unfortunately, like we do almost every season, we are dealing with injuries.
Last week we were talking about Joe Burrow trying to unravel what we were going to do with our Cincinnati Bengals,
a disaster this week for the Bengals.
Got to talk about a couple of injuries.
Really some big ones for fantasy football.
There's going to be some winners.
There's going to be some losers.
But let's start off right at the top.
Biggest takeaway this week, a lot of this week is running backs.
The year of the running back, we're seeing these high-end running back scores.
we're having a similar pathway to what we had in 2024.
And in 2024, our biggest fantasy winner, the league winner,
the player that if you drafted him,
you had a almost automatic entry into your league playoffs.
And a chance at winning your league was Saquan Barclay.
We have three weeks in the bag.
And this year's version of Saquan Barclay is Jonathan Taylor.
The Colts are a magical team right now.
They passed the test.
We knew Indianapolis was good.
They started out the year two and oh.
We knew that Denver game was a serious one for them.
They go on the road as short favorites in the AFC South against a Tennessee team that we
knew that they were capable of beating.
But in years past, maybe Indianapolis doesn't get this win.
Well, not only do they win, but they roll.
Everything is clicking.
Everything is going right for Indianapolis.
And it is another absolute smash week.
from Jonathan Taylor. Taylor was already on just an unbelievable start to the season,
and he continues it today, just goes absolutely nuts. Three rushing touchdowns,
102 rushing yards, and he adds three more receptions, which for Taylor, if Taylor's
giving you three receptions a game like this and giving you anything as a receiver,
you know it's going to be a special season. That's never been something that's been a huge
strong point for him, but he's had at least two receptions.
in every single game.
So this is a really nice little bonus for Taylor drafters.
But when it comes to Taylor, it's the rushing production.
It's just ridiculous.
And also when we factor in that Daniel Jones has three short rushing scores,
this Taylor production could have been even larger this season.
So weeks one, weeks two, he doesn't get into the end zone as a runner.
Of course, last week, absolutely ridiculous against Denver,
165 rushing yards.
This week, though,
102 rushing yards,
three rushing touchdowns.
Jonathan Taylor was living
inside of the second round of drafts.
And occasionally,
he fell to the early third round.
Right now,
Jonathan Taylor is looking like
one of the league winning values,
and it continues to get better
for Indianapolis.
So like,
the next few weeks could be
really, really fantasy friendly for him.
They play the Rams next week in L.A.
in what could be a shootout type environment against a Rams team that is going to put pressure on
Indianapolis. This is maybe their biggest test of the season. Then Vegas in week five, after we saw
what Washington was capable of against Vegas today, that could be another smash week for Taylor.
I think if Jonathan Taylor stays upright, he is going to challenge for an RB1 overall season.
And we've seen it out of him before. Taylor had the RB1 overall year in his second season as a pro.
there's been some ups and down since then.
A lot of it's been him missing time.
But if he stays healthy,
there's almost nothing like having a healthy Jonathan Taylor.
In his RB1 overall season in 2021,
he averaged 22 points per game.
He's headed on that track right now.
Jonathan Taylor,
a massive, massive takeaway from this week.
Got to also stick at the running back position.
And if we're saying Jonathan Taylor,
is this year's version of 2024 Saquan Barkley,
then did we find this year's version of Chase Brown?
And it's a completely different skill set,
but it's a player that when we get towards the middle of the season,
we might say, look at the stats that this player is putting up.
And when it came to Chase Brown, Chase Brown last year,
there was an injury in the backfield.
Zach Moss goes down with an injury,
and sort of a murky running back situation
ends up turning into the Chase Brown show.
This year's version of that, Jordan Mason of Minnesota.
Mason was drafted in a very similar range of Chase Brown in like that eighth round range,
that seven, eight, ninth round range going right alongside Aaron Jones.
Drafters were saying Jordan Mason or Aaron Jones.
Well, after today, this is a big flex day from the Jordan Mason backers.
He's looked good all season long.
and today finally has his big smash week performance.
The Minnesota defense goes absolutely wild today,
but Jordan Mason with 16 carries 116 yards and two touchdowns,
nothing as a receiver and didn't really need to factor it in.
But Jordan Mason looks completely, completely locked in.
A lot of people are saying Jordan Mason is going to be an RB2 for the rest of the way.
I think that's a little bit of a sort of a cheap one.
When it comes to Mason, he has also caught a pass in every single game except for today.
So we know he's got that in his bag a little bit.
He's not a big time pass catcher, but much like Jonathan Taylor, he's a situational one
and one that can just be an opportunistic pass catcher.
23.6 ppr points today.
Now Minnesota has a chance to keep it going.
They play two games in Europe, one against Pittsburgh and one against the
Cleveland Browns. This is an opportunity for Jordan Mason to sort of get things going.
They're going to lean on him. Week six, they have their buy. And when they come back,
an absolutely brutal, brutal schedule. There's a lot of pressure on Minnesota to win these next
two games. Week four, week five are going to be very, very pressure packed for them.
Because week seven, Philly comes into town. Week eight, the chargers on the road. Week nine,
the Lions on the road. And then in week 10, the Baltimore.
Baltimore Ravens at home.
So really an opportunity for Minnesota to get two wins in a row, get this momentum going
into their by week.
They're absolutely going to need it.
And I think they're going to continue leaning on Jordan Mason.
Really terrific game from him today.
One game that we had circled all week long as a game that there was going to be points
scored, Chicago, Dallas.
This was a game that Vegas made a very tight point spread.
Vegas made a very high over under.
Well, we got points scored today, and most of them were scored by the Chicago Bears.
And this is the breakout performance for Ben Johnson as head coach, gets his first win.
But it's really the breakout performance for Caleb Williams.
Caleb Williams was absolutely sensational.
Williams has 298 passing yards, four passing touchdowns, zero interceptions.
It's been some ups and downs with Caleb Williams.
And I think this is the week that really gets him going and gets him on this trajectory
where I think he's going to be a dark horse candidate at a top five QB season.
Caleb took his shots last year.
People beat him up.
And for good reason.
He had a ton of negative play last year.
The season was sort of a disaster.
But we've seen Ben Johnson elevate quarterbacks year in, year out in Detroit with Jared
goff. I think we're starting to see it with Caleb Williams. QB 20 finish in week two.
So it hasn't been all gravy. But in week one, he finishes as the QB9. And now heading into
Sunday night football, Caleb Williams is the QB1 overall on the week. We know he's got some
rushing skills to him where as a scrambler, as an opportunistic scrambler, as a quarterback who
can score a little bit inside the red zone, like I think Caleb Williams, the mobility is there.
where you're going to see some decent mobility games for him.
And one factor for Caleb Williams, which is really, really exciting.
And a very, very exciting one for Bears fans is Luther Burden is here.
Luther Burden, really, really big game for him.
We've been waiting for this.
Luther Burden gets a rushing attempt.
He has seven yards on the ground, but it's the past catching ability.
It's the elusiveness.
It's the explosiveness.
Luther Burden with three catches for 101 yards.
and a touchdown. Romadunze scores again. Romadunzee has been sort of automatic this year.
Roma Dunzee has been one of the best wide receivers at ADP.
DJ Moore has been pretty non-existent.
DJ Moore did score a touchdown this week, but it's really Luther Burden.
And now Luther Burden's presence in this offense, this offense is starting to gel and get healthy.
You see the last year's first round pick Roma Dunzee, this year's second round pick, Luther
burden and then DJ more still there, still around.
Getting some contributions from Olamidi Zakaas.
DeAndre Swift had a long reception today.
And it looked like this was going to be a potential breakout game for Colston
Loveland as well.
He gets banged up.
But Cole Comette catches a touchdown, a little short one later on in the game.
So for me, Caleb Williams, a ton of positive momentum for Caleb.
And this is a player that I think can get this thing going.
number one overall pick.
He had a ton of enthusiasm from fantasy managers as a prospect.
Ben Johnson effect.
Chicago just gets a big win over Dallas.
And just as a note, this Dallas offense, excuse me, this Dallas defense,
this is one that we want to target for our streaming quarterbacks.
Dallas defense is an absolute mess.
We saw Jalen Hertz put it on him in week one as a scrambler.
We saw in week two, Russell Wilson put up his story.
numerical numbers with Malik neighbors, Wondell Robinson going nuts.
And this week we see Caleb Williams with four passing scores.
So we're going to attack that Dallas Cowboys defense whenever we can.
And when it comes to Chicago, Chicago has an early buy week.
If they can get the win next week against Vegas in Vegas, they get the buy week.
And then when they come back, a very tilting game for Caleb Williams managers and for Bears fans
alike. They go on the road to Washington in week six, Jaden Daniels versus Caleb Williams,
a matchup of the number one and number two picks in the 2024 NFL draft. The story was basically
written heading into the season. Jaden Daniels, he's that guy. Jaden Daniels, an unbelievable talent.
But if Caleb Williams can go into Washington and get that win, it's going to give his dynasty
managers, his redraft managers, something to really hang their hats on and get momentum for
the rest of the season. Big, big week from Caleb Williams. And yet another big, big week from
James Cook. We talked about Jonathan Taylor as this year's league winner at the running back
position. And I stand by that one. But if there's another player in the conversation for it,
it's James Cook. James Cook has been an absolute machine as a touchdown score. Of
course we know about last season, James Cook was just on one, scoring touchdowns right and left,
with a lower than desired snapshot. So a lot of analytical fantasy analysts this offseason
sort of poking holes at James Cook, talking about how James Cook, a lot of the production was
unsustainable. Well, James Cook isn't listening to this one. We had the scare for James Cook
with the contract. He gets rewarded with a huge contract this off season. And the bills are looking
very, very smart. James Cook with yet another 20 point performance on Thursday night in Buffalo's
closer than anticipated win over the Miami Dolphins. James Cook with 19 carries,
108 yards, and a touchdown, catches all three of his targets. So start now with the season.
James Cook now has four touchdowns in three games. He's got nine catches in three games.
and 20.8 points this week and week three was his season low.
He's had at least 20.8 points scored in every single week.
And unlike Jonathan Taylor, you were getting James Cook in the late third or fourth round
and occasional appearances in the early fifth round when there was scares with the contract.
And everything's looking really good for Buffalo.
Buffalo plays New Orleans in week four at home.
The Saints are an absolute disaster.
and the New England Patriots in week five.
They go on the road to Atlanta in week six.
Then they get their by week in week seven.
I predict that James Cook is going to be red hot
and keep this thing going for the next three weeks.
James Cook might be another player.
When we look back, James Cook could be a league winner
at the running back position.
And you could have started your drafts out
with Jonathan Taylor and James Cook in every single draft.
A lot of managers sort of kicking themselves
for not drafting enough of these guys.
I certainly wish I had packed way more Jonathan Taylor bags this offseason than I currently have.
But I'm sure we're going to have other regrets and a lot of other wins throughout the season.
One other running back we got to talk about.
This is a running back focused week.
Like we talked about in the pre-show, running backs are shining.
And let's talk about Quinn-Shon Judkins.
So the whole narrative heading into this week was the Browns have no change.
chance and running backs don't do a thing against the Green Bay Packers.
We saw Jemir Gibbs and David Montgomery in week one completely shut down by the Green Bay
run defense. Gibbs caught a bunch of passes, but that was pretty much it.
Detroit shut down Green Bay smoked them. Week two, Washington commanders, a game that we circled
as a really big one for both of those teams. And Green Bay again, completely dominated them.
Austin Echler and Jacori Kroski Merritt completely shut down.
Week three, Cleveland, in Cleveland.
Green Bay goes in there.
It's 10-0 Green Bay.
Looks like Green Bay is going to win.
And Quinn Sean Judkins rips off an awesome, awesome run.
He later scores a short touchdown that was a very, very important one for Cleveland.
And Cleveland gets this huge, huge, huge home win.
Quin Sean Judkins has only been with a team, a.
very, very short period of time.
We talked about him last week right here on this show.
I talked about him on my podcast this week.
Last week, it was 10 carries for 61 yards, three catches.
This week, even better.
He has a catch.
Doesn't do anything with it, but he has another catch.
He's another opportunistic pass catcher, not a guy they're going to scheme a whole
lot of targets for, but he finishes with 18 carries for 94 yards.
Quinnshot Judkins finishes with more rushing yards.
then Jemir Gibbs, David Montgomery, Austin Echler, and Jacori-Crossimirate had combined this season against Green Bay.
And Cleveland gets their first win of the season, an absolute coming out party for Quinchon Judkins.
Talking about a bell cow in Cleveland, it went Nick Chubb.
And I don't want to have hyperbole here because Nick Chub was one of the hardest runners we've seen,
one of the most naturally gifted running backs we've seen in a long time as a runner.
but I think that the Browns have another bell cow in Quinshawn Judkins.
They are immediately using them.
Don't be surprised if we see Quinshan Judkins with a couple of 25 touch games in the upcoming weeks.
He is going to become the focal point of this Cleveland Browns offense.
Judkins looks absolutely awesome.
And when we talk about Judkins, there are some teams out there that are absolute monsters
that were able to draft Quinshan Judkins in the double-digit rounds of draft.
when he had all of his off-the-field concerns, and he was free-falling in ADP.
Some absolutely scary, scary Judkins builds out there.
I'm sure we're going to hear about those ones.
And a great, great stat, I'm having Jacob Gibbs and Ryan Heath on my podcast, Fantasy Football Daily,
the same one you're listening to.
They are my guest this week.
And a great stat from Jacob Gibbs on Quinnshon Judkins was Judkins had 94 Russian yards today.
and 87 of them were created after contact,
an absolute workhorse beast in Quinn Sean Judkins.
And we've talked about running backs.
So let's take a breath here.
I'm usually talking about wide receivers nonstop.
I sort of like talking about wide receivers.
It's been my thing to kind of be wide receiver focus.
So let's talk about a wide receiver.
And let's talk about one who's been so good for us for so many seasons,
but such a frustrating player to have through the first two weeks of the year.
And it's AJ Brown.
And a big shout out to the L.A. Rams for sort of waking the Philadelphia coaching staff up,
that throwing the ball to A.J. Brown and targeting him a couple extra times a game
is a smart decision for an offensive coordinator to make.
So shout out to Kevin Petulow.
I'm hoping he's watching the tape because A.J. Brown looked like.
like A.J. Brown. A.J. Brown finishes a game with six catches for 109 yards and a touchdown on 10
targets. And last year, A.J. Brown had almost no second half targets. He was a player that had
most of his production in the first half of games. Well, we finally had a game where Philly was
trailing. And Philly was trailing huge. They were down 26 to 7. And at half time,
AJ Brown had one target, zero catches, zero yards, finishes the game with six catches, 109 yards, and a touchdown.
Philly, I hope this is a trend.
And we see A.J. Brown heavily used in the next upcoming weeks because it's kind of weird to have A.J. Brown in your lineup and worry about him.
Hopefully this is a game that's the start of something.
A.J. Brown scores 22.9 ppr points this week. Really, really strong one from him.
Now, we got to talk about panic. We talked about a wide receiver, really positive week.
We got to talk about Brian Thomas because what's going on with Brian Thomas is an absolute disaster.
BTJ last year was maybe the league winner at the wide receiver position.
He was not out of nowhere, but a player that was drafted at a range.
Let's eighth round, seventh round, ninth round, that sort of range.
Some leagues in the 10th round.
And BTJ ends up having this unbelievable season.
BTJ ends up finishing as a wide receiver one.
Looked like one of the most explosive type players we've seen in quite some time.
Brian Thomas Jr., just historically good rookie season.
It finishes the year with 87 catches, almost 1,300 receiving yards,
and 10 receiving touchdowns.
Basically, he rewrote the book on Jacksonville,
Jaguars wide receiver records as rookies.
BTJ, of course, steamed up this summer.
There was enthusiasm with everyone.
I was on him.
Scott Barrett was on him.
Pretty much Ryan Heath was on him.
Pretty much everyone at fantasy points was very excited
about seeing BTJ in a Liam Cohen offense.
We didn't sign up for this one.
This is a disaster.
Another dud performance from BTJ.
He catches a long pass to sort of salvage his week,
and he hit 22 miles an hour on it.
Jacksonville wins the game,
but fantasy managers everywhere lost
because we were waiting for a big breakout performance for BTJ.
I thought this was going to be the week for him.
In week two, we saw a 12 target performance for BTJ.
And my thinking was,
they're going to continue to sort of bang this drum.
They're going to get this thing going.
They're going to get their alpha wide receiver going.
It's just not happening.
This is not smooth sailing.
BTJ has seven catches on the season,
seven in three games played,
on 25 targets.
So 25 targets, we can live with that.
That's eight targets a game.
But he only has seven catches.
And today's 55 receiving yards was a season
high for him. He's had, he's never cracked 10 PPR points in any single game. And this is one where
I'm really struggling with this one. And I hope I'm wrong on this one. But there is a chance that
24 was the best season that we have ever seen from BTJ. It doesn't always happen for players where
they move up in this trajectory like this. Sometimes guys have peaks in valleys. And it's just not
working with Liam Cohen. I hope I'm wrong. If you disagree with me, let me know in the comments,
but I am terrified for my BTJ bags right now. And there's not anything you can do. You can't bench
him. I guess you can, depending on how you drafted your wide receivers. But with the premium
ADP you spent on him, you're really in a bind here. You also, if you're a dynasty manager,
you can't trade away BTJ because BTJ, you'd be trading him exceedingly low. I don't think this
a get out of Dodge situation in Dynasty either. I still think BTJ is really, really good.
But last year we saw him finish as a top six score at the position. And whatever's going on here,
whether it's Trevor Lawrence, whether it's BTJ himself, whether it's the Liam Cohen system,
there's going to be some self-scouting. They're going to try to fix this thing. But BTJ last year
was just on this red hot, red hot streak. And the thinking that he was going to have all of these
weeks where he had fewer than 10 points scored all three in a row and not cracking double
digits. You're talking about a player. I'm going to read you his scores from last year.
From week 13 on, 18.7 points, 16.6, 32.5, 28.2, 28.2, 23.9, 17.3, down to this.
BTJ was unbelievable last year from like week four on. A bunch of 20.
performance is to start out like this, something's not going on.
Something is just not right there.
We heard about the wrist injury last week.
Maybe we hear a little bit more about it about it this week, but I am scared to death
about my BTJ bags.
Right now he's looking like one of the worst picks you could have made having to take
BTJ at that one two turn area early second round, really a disaster, disaster type pick.
One player, we can breathe a huge sigh of relief.
for is Omarian Hampton.
Hampton's one where I was taking a lot of shots,
where this has been a player that on the School of Scott podcast
with Scott Barrett and I all summer long,
just beating the drums for Omarian Hampton,
where I was talking about him being a potential league winner.
He was the guy I wanted to draft in every single draft.
And a couple people were coming at me and saying,
you know, this is a pick that's really not working out.
And I sort of said, you're right.
Right now it's not looking like a good recommendation.
Ormary and Hampton, the thing that worried me really the most for Hampton was they were completely ignoring him as a pass catcher.
And he doesn't have to be a guy to catch 60 passes to pay off at ADP.
But I did think that this was a guy that was going to have 40 plus catches, at least something we could lean our hat on.
We see it today in a game that L.A. was trailing.
Omari and Hampton has six catches for 59 yards on seven targets.
and then we see the incredible rushing ability that led him to be a first round pick in this year's NFL draft.
19 carries for 70 yards and a touchdown.
This is exactly the sort of 25 touch performance that we were sort of banking on when it came to Omar and Hampton.
Now you factor in the Achilles injury for Najee Harris.
Najee Harris goes down with a Achilles injury, really terrible.
for Najee Harris. Really, really bad one because this was a non-contact injury. He's going to
undergo more tests, but there is not a whole lot of optimism in the building that Harris didn't
suffer a very serious injury. So right now, Omari and Hampton has to be looked at as a low-end
RB1 for the rest of the season. And just a quick look ahead on the waiver wire, you're probably
going to end up picking up Hassan Haskins as a waiver wire pickup just as a contingent upside play
behind Omari and Hampton. But this is the Omari and Hampton show. And next week, the New York
Giants on the road, then Washington comes into L.A. L.A. is undefeated. And then week six,
they go into Miami. Miami's looking like a team that might be picking first overall in the NFL
draft. So Hampton has a chance to keep the momentum going. Really a massive, massive tilting in a good
way performance for Omari and Hampton fantasy managers looking great there.
And let's stay with L.A.
Got to talk about Justin Herbert.
We talked about him last week.
But this is the Justin Herbert MVP season.
It is absolutely happening.
I said it this week on my podcast with Dave Clugie on Fantasy Football Daily.
Scott Barrett and I have talked about it on School of Scott.
It's just coming together for Justin Herbert.
Herbert.
Herbert again leads a comeback win.
He has 300 passing yards.
And this one was tough.
This was not an easy one for L.A.
This was one that they had to battle and they had to fight for.
Denver had them.
And L.A. comes back, gets the win.
Herbert again with a 300 passing yard performance.
Just unbelievable what we've seen from Justin Herbert.
So Herbert, a lower than anticipated fantasy output,
this is going to be his lowest scoring output of the season by far.
But they're 3-0.
They played three teams in the AFC West, and they get three wins.
Justin Herbert, MVP, you're going to hear it a lot this week.
And if they win these next two against the Giants and the commanders,
excuse me, these next three, giants, commanders, and the Miami Dolphins,
they could be 6-0 to start the season and host the Indianapolis Colts,
who are looking like another team that's going to have a very strong record.
Justin Herbert, this could be his year at the quarterback position, just an unbelievable start for him.
Got to talk about serious injuries.
We talked about Najee Harris, and that one leads to an increased outlook for O'Mary in Hampton.
Got to talk about a couple of players that are going to be devastating losses for fantasy managers.
We don't have the full details here, but James Connor was carted off the field for Arizona.
I look to be a really bad lower body injury, probably an ankle, waiting to get a little bit of
information on late Sunday, early Monday when it comes to James Connor.
But James Connor has been just such a steady and reliable player for fantasy managers for multiple seasons now in Arizona.
Last year he had his healthiest season as a pro gets the contract extension this offseason.
James Connor sort of settled into that round five range.
And this one, it's not good.
There's no way to sort of silver line, put a silver lining on this one.
Because when you factor in James Connor's age, this could be a really, really bad.
I don't want to say season ending one, but I think we're talking about at least headed to the IR with the potential that it's way, way more than that.
So this could be Joe Burrow level of bad.
But when you factor in James Connor's age, you factor in his injury.
history. This is not, not a good thing at all. Connor had not been scoring like massive numbers,
but he gave us a 14-pointer in week one, a 12-pointer in week two, and he was a locked-in fantasy
football starter for many managers. They're going to be scrambling. And the player that's going to
benefit the most here is Trey Benson. Trey Benson has a chance to be one of the best
contingent upside guys on the season. He has three catches, has seven, uh,
seven rushing, excuse me, has three catches and he has 10 carries for 42 yards.
Benson scored at least eight points now in every single game this year.
And Trey Benson, we've been waiting for this for an opportunity for him.
Last year he was steamed up in drafts where people made the argument that James Connor was going to miss time.
That didn't happen.
Benson was sort of a bus pick last year.
Has this chance to rectify things.
Again, he's averaging eight points per game now.
so he's been flashing. Arizona has been using him. And when we talk about Benson,
he has the archetyped of a running back who is extremely fantasy friendly. At the Combine,
43940, he had a 116 speed score. So when we talk about speed score, it's the weight adjusted 40 time.
And when you compare Trey Benson speed score wise, his size, his speed, you're looking at players like Brees Hall.
You're looking at players like Kenneth Walker and not quite Jonathan Taylor, but he's very similar athletically to a Breece Hall or a Kenneth Walker.
Trey Benson also has receiving ability.
So Trey Benson, if you had him on your fantasy bench, if you had him as a handcuffed to James Connor, breathe a huge sigh of relief.
And if you had him without James Connor, now you have an edge where Trey Benson can immediately go in your lineup.
I think he's a top 15 runner for the for the as long as James Connor is out.
And again, we don't want to try to guess these things.
I'm not a doctor.
I don't have all the information.
But it didn't look right for James Connor.
Anybody you saw that injury, there's not a whole lot of optimism that this wasn't a massively
serious injury.
So we're looking at Trey Benson being a player that's in every single fantasy lineup
headed into next week.
talking about another injury, Mike Evans.
Now, the Evans one didn't, was not as serious as Connor,
but it's a hamstring injury.
A number of injury experts have sort of been saying,
insinuating that this is probably going to be an IR spot for Mike Evans as well.
Mike Evans missed time last year.
Mike Evans has missed time before.
So Mike Evans, of course, last year comes back.
and at the end of the season was red hot.
So you were able to sort of sustain losing him last year.
And he ends up coming back and being awesome.
Played 14 games last year, though.
This might be fewer games played than 14 just on the way it looked.
So when it comes down to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they won two.
Today's game was wild.
They had that game in the bag.
Jets end up having like a wild block kick, Jets score.
Tampa Bay ends up coming back.
Big field goal from Chase McLaughlin at the end.
So Tampa wins to come back, like last drive wins,
two like sort of walkoff wins against Houston on Monday night football.
And then today against New York Jets,
Emeka, this is the biggest winner here.
Egbuka continues to shine,
has another very, very strong week this week.
Egbuka, I think, moves up several spots.
I'll be interested to see where Chris Wecht has him projected
for this coming week, but Egbuka was a player we were already very enthusiastic about at fantasy
points. Now he moves right into the wide receiver one role, where Egbuka, I think we're
going to start talking about Igbuka as a top 15 wide receiver play week in, week out.
I mean, Egbuka's already been just fantastic. The first two weeks, though, he scores touchdowns
in back-to-back weeks, but the target share was not like especially high.
high. It was always an okay target share. Talking about a player who was around 20% or so with the target
share. Now I think you're going to see a Mecca-Agbuka take that number to another level.
I think we're going to see Baker Mayfield hyper-targeting him. Then you factor in, and just
regarding Igbuka, sort of break it down a little bit. Scores 14 points this week, six catches,
85 yards, makes some really, really timely, timely plays. And Igbuka this week missed time.
So for him to play this week after missing some practice time,
we were worried he was going to sit out the week,
gets eight targets today,
really, really strong performance from him.
So it's been 23 points in week one,
13 points in week two,
now 14 points.
Next week they have the Philadelphia Eagles.
I think Igbuka is going to trend up.
We're going to see way more eight target games like we had today in the near future.
And the other winner is Chris Godwin.
We were sort of burying Chris Godwin,
at least I was a little bit. Chris Godwin, I was saying, you know, his return, it's good,
good for Baker Mayfield, but Chris Godwin was not necessarily a player that I was ready to push into
our fantasy lineups. Chris Godwin now becomes way more viable because Mike Evans is gone and Chris Godwin
looks like he'll be in two wide receiver sets. That would be my guess. If he's healthy and he's
ready enough to go, unless he's on some sort of a pitch count, Chris Godwin immediately enters the
flex consideration. Things sort of work out.
here. If you, for Tampa Bay, they get back Chris Godwin, the week that they lose Mike Evans.
And a big shout out to Josh Grizzard. We've seen Dave Canales. We've seen Liam Cohen go from
Tampa Bay offensive coordinator to a head coaching job. Judge Grizzard might be the next one.
They had a ton of holding penalties today. But Tampa Bay was down three linemen. All these offensive
line injuries. And they kept Baker Mayfield upright. Grizzard gets two last minute wins. And now next week,
they get Chris Godwin.
They also get Tristan Worf's,
their best offensive linemen back.
So this Tampa Bay team has sort of that it factor
where next man up, they're winning games.
But we're going to bump a mecca,
Book up. We're significantly bumping
Trey Benson up. Chris Godwin also sees a boost
as soon as he steps back on an NFL field.
A couple of quick notes.
CD Lamb seems to have dodged a bullet.
Lamb exited the game.
Really, really bad one for CD Lamb managers,
gets the goose egg.
Cidie Lamb exits the game,
looked like an ankle injury for him.
Lambs come out and said he's fine.
So it looks like he avoided anything catastrophic.
We'll see about his availability for week four.
Dallas could really, really use him back.
Jake Ferguson, highly, highly targeted today
of when Lamb was out by Dak.
Dak loves Jake Ferguson.
But Cidey Lamb, we're going to keep an eye on this one.
But unlike Evans, unlike Connor,
It doesn't sound like this is going to be some long-term thing for CD.
So a huge sigh of relief for CD-LAM fantasy managers.
That would have just been catastrophic.
And you can't really describe this unless you're a fantasy manager,
a really serious fantasy football player.
And if you're watching Fantasy Points YouTube,
you're a real one.
You're a real fantasy manager trying to get those edges to help you win in fantasy.
Seeing CD-Lam with his shoe off on the sideline was so depressing.
and hit me so hard.
And it's really hard to explain that to somebody.
If you're a Dallas Cowboys fan, you're like Theo, I feel you.
But if you're a fantasy manager, you can have no allegiance at all to the Dallas Cowboys,
but you totally feel that in your gut.
You start thinking this is your season's over, disaster, CD Lamb, top five pick in every single format.
So very happy he is going to be on my fantasy teams, at least in the near future.
And we'll see about his availability in week four.
If he's out in week four, expect for more George Pickens, expect for more Jake Ferguson.
We'll keep an eye on that one.
One other thing to keep a note, we saw Kirk Cousins go in the game.
We saw Michael Pennix get benched.
Disaster performance.
An absolute disaster performance for the Atlanta Falcons.
Atlanta was favored in this game.
Atlanta goes on the road to Carolina.
I thought Atlanta was going to come out and at least really make, this was going to be a game that I thought Atlanta had a chance to win.
And I thought that Atlanta was going to come out and how.
have a good performance. Atlanta lays a goose egg. It was absolutely terrible. Bejohn Robinson
continues to shine in a really a compiler type way. Bejohn had five catches, so sort of salvages
his week with the receiving ability, five catches, 39 receiving yards, rushes for 72 yards,
gives you that balance, but not the earth-shattering fantasy performances we're used to.
Drake London, a disaster, disaster start for him.
Five catches for 55 yards, not getting what we signed up for when it comes to Drake London.
Really disappointing one for this entire Atlanta team.
Now, they said Michael Pennix is going to start next week.
But we've seen this before where Cousins was struggling last year.
They put Michael Pennix in.
Could we see the pendulum swing back to Cousins?
I don't think so.
I think that Atlanta is sort of committed to Pennix.
here, but after a 30 to nothing loss, there's going to be some, some like self-scouting in the
building, and they're going to try to figure out what's wrong. This was absolutely ugly here.
Shout out to Graham Barfield of fantasy points, who I do a start sit show with. He was very down on
Drake London this week. I sort of argued with him about it. Shout out, you win this one, Graham.
You were right. Drake London on the road here, he thought was a low-end wide receiver too.
well, Graham, you weren't low enough.
Drake London, five catches for 55 yards, really, really gross one there.
Michael Pennex, if you started him in Superflex, you lost the week.
Terrible one there.
Talk about the Bengals disaster.
The Minnesota defense went absolutely nuts this week.
Minnesota defensively puts up a massive, massive number.
If you had Minnesota defense, you overcame a lot of things here.
Completely dominant fantasy performance.
score 32 points. They have four sacks. They have three fumble recoveries and they have two pick
sixes. So unbelievable performance from the Minnesota defense. Another defense who played great was
the Seattle Seahawks, completely dominant. But getting back to Minnesota, Cincinnati, a disaster
performance today. Jake Browning, we had enthusiasm about being able to fill in for Joe Burrow.
We saw 2023, Jake Browning have five QB1 finishes.
Well, off to a rough, rough start.
Maybe it's the Minnesota defense.
Maybe that was just too difficult a matchup for Cincinnati to overcome.
And the fact that they got behind early, but a 48 to 10 loss, sobering, big time sobering one.
And it gets even more difficult for Cincinnati.
Cincinnati drops to two and one.
now they've got to go play in Denver in week four,
and then the lions come into Cincinnati in week five.
They could be two and three quite easily.
And I think that they'll be favored to lose both of these games.
And we've got to sort of adjust our expectations a little bit.
Jamar Chase, we can't really take them out of the top five,
and I don't think we should.
Chase had a down game today, six targets,
really kind of ugly numbers.
Finishes with nine points, five catches,
50 yards, just ugly, ugly, ugly performance when it came to Jamar Chase.
But Chase, Jamar Chase is Jamar Chase.
Does have the fumble.
He's not really a guy that's continually fumbling the ball.
So this was a Mulligan week for Chase.
Of course, last week with Browning, we saw the monster week for Chase, where it was 36
and a half points.
So maybe this is just the story with Chase, where we're going to have to stomach a few
lower than anticipated scoring outbursts with Jake Browning behind center.
But we know that Chase is going to get us there because he's still going to put up the 25 plus
pointers.
He's still, in my opinion, a top two talented wide receiver in football along with Malik
neighbors, put Justin Jefferson way up there too.
But Chase still there.
T. Higgins on the other end, though, T. Higgins scored that touchdown last week,
but this week a disaster.
He has one catch for 15 yards.
He seems to be the player that's going to suffer the most from the Joe Burrow loss.
Chase Brown also, Chase Brown just is not having any success as a runner this year.
Chase Brown still catches four passes, but he finishes with three yards on the ground.
I mean, disgusting.
And when we look at Chase Brown's rushing outputs this season, it's been really, really, really bad.
He hasn't had a single week where he's cracked three yards.
a carry. I mean, just absolutely horrible rushing statistics from Chase Brown. Could Chase Brown be a
one-year wonder? Stranger things have happened. But when you talk about players like Chase Brown,
we were very enthusiastic about him as a site at Fantasy Points this summer. A lot of other
sites, very enthusiastic about Chase Brown. But Chase Brown was sort of a limited sample size last
year. And he was a player that day three pick in the NFL draft sort of had this magical run last
year. Could it be a one year wonder? I don't think so, but I could be wrong. Again, much like
BTJ, Chase Brown might have had his best fantasy season and we witnessed it last year and he just
can't return to that level. So right now, some real issues in Cincinnati. And one more player
we've got to talk about to end the show, Marvin Harrison Jr.
Marvin Harrison Jr., an absolute free fall.
What a awful performance for Harrison Jr.
We started out the season with so much promise when it came to Harrison Jr.
Where we said, okay, we're back.
This is the player that we drafted.
This is the player that we all signed up for, 18.7 points in week one.
And it could have been more where Harrison Jr. was just special.
So a lot of people were patting themselves on the back, talking about how this is the year for Harrison Jr.
And it's not happening.
It's just not happening.
Just like last year with Harrison Jr., we see these awful ups and downs, these swings.
We saw week one with the big performance.
Now it's been two terrible performances in a row.
Seven points scored this week, three catches for 44 yards, dropped a surefire touchdown in the end zone,
had another drop, could have had a big game.
But when you factor in, Harrison Jr.
had 4.7 points scored in week two and now 7.4 in week three.
We are absolutely tilting if we have Marvin Harrison Jr. in our lineup.
This is a tilting player and one that is not going to be this year's year two breakout at the wide receiver position.
That's looking very much like Roma Dunzee, but it's not Marvin Harrison Jr. right now.
And I hope I'm wrong on this one.
There's a lot of people with some serious Marvin Harrison Jr. bags.
But Arizona loses a close one.
Harrison Jr. back-to-back weeks with fewer than eight points scored.
It's those wild ups and downs when it comes to Marvin Harrison Jr.
Really, really tough one for fantasy managers today.
This was really, really fun.
