responsibly. What's up, guys? This is Tristan
Worf to the Tampa Buccaneers, and you're listening to the
Fantasy Points Podcast.
Welcome to the first in-season edition
of the Fantasy Points podcast.
I am Joe Dolan, and with me today
is our director of social media, Tray
Camberling at FantasyPoint.com.
And Trey has also been kind of like our
agent, our liaison,
our rendezvous guy.
I'm just trying to think of every
fancy word that sounds like meetup.
And for the most
part, he's getting people who really
really like the state of Iowa. And the, uh, this guy is somebody the state of Iowa likes quite a bit.
His name is Tristan Worf's. He is, uh, an offensive tackle for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He's been on
the NFL top 100 list a number of times. He's made a pro bowl. He's won a Super Bowl. Oh,
and he's 24 years old. Trey, what were you doing at 24 years old? I wasn't winning Super Bowls.
He's at 24. I think I was still getting very drunk and, and working my first job out of
college i think uh that's that's pretty much what i had going on so oh i was uh i i was a piece of
yeah i was a piece of shit yeah uh tristan warfs is not um i could see right away when we were
when he came on to the podcast we had a very brief discussion that i hope you guys enjoy it touches on
some fantasy football things just life and transition into the nfl certainly could have gone
longer but we couldn't keep him on his day off in the nfl but it was very obvious to me that he was
going to be very receptive to just kind of like a little bit of a back and forth interview,
me kind of improvising some questions. Of course, we had to ask him about Tom Brady. How can you
not ask him about Tom Brady? But, Trey, this goes back to the, I think the story you told on
either the last podcast or a couple podcasts ago, where the only times you've been starstruck in your
life, I can't imagine what it's like. If you're an NFL player and you walk in and, oh, by the way,
you're blocking for Tom Brady. Yeah, you're in a situation there where not only do you have to be
around him, you're like, you've got to protect him. You're, you know, responsible for him in ways.
And as a, as a young kid, that's just, that's just got to be terrifying. I can't even imagine.
The mental toughness that it took, I mean, it's taken me years to muster up the gumption to be
comfortable talking to people like this, let alone having my life in their hands. But it was
wonderful to have Tristan works on the podcast. Another great Iowa athlete. I know he's a,
I know he's a hawk guy, Trey, but you were able to, to break down some barriers there.
and be receptive to bringing him on the show.
But it was great talking to Tristan Worf's.
Trey, I hope you had a good time talking to Tristan Worf's.
And I hope you guys have a good time listening to us, talk to Tristan Worf's.
Here he is right now.
It's a pleasure to welcome in a Super Bowl champion onto the Fantasy Points podcast.
His name is Tristan Warrows.
He's an offensive tackle from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
And if you're noticing a connection, we have a lot of folks from Iowa coming on to the podcast.
That's because our guy, Trey Camberling, is.
one of the most popular men in the state of Iowa.
Tristan, it's wonderful to be with you.
Thank you for joining us.
How are you doing here?
Thank you for taking time on your day off.
Yeah, absolutely.
Not doing too bad.
Just chilling today.
Tristan, obviously, you've become quite an accomplished NFL player,
Pro Bowl, or Super Bowl champion.
But I have to ask you a question.
You were three years old when Tom Brady won his first Super Bowl.
Where in the process of dreaming of playing in the NFL,
did protecting for Tom Brady,
and a Super Bowl come up in the dream?
I don't know if it ever did.
Like, it was just the whole, that whole process was insane.
Just, you know, getting the call on draft night.
And the first thing BA told me was like, he's like, you ready to protect Tom Brady?
And I was like, holy shit.
I was like, not right now.
You know, I was like, I'll get his ready, you know, as fast as I can.
No, that was just, that whole, those whole three years were just surreal, you know,
getting to play with Tom.
He was an incredible person, obviously an incredible player.
and getting to be, you know, his teammate was incredible.
You guys were off to a 2-0 start.
That might be surprising, you know, to the public,
but you've been around Todd Bowles and the team all summer.
I'm guessing, you know, you're not surprised at what you guys are putting together
on the field right now.
Yeah, I mean, we had a new offense, you know,
that we were putting together this whole offseason.
And, you know, we all have a lot of confidence in it.
You know, Coach Canales, our new OC is incredible.
obviously I love Coach Bowles.
It was funny, I didn't really talk to him much when he was to D.C.
But now, you know, being the head guy, I feel like we built a great relationship.
But no, like, you know, we are rolling, you know, we're off to a good start.
Just trying to go every, just trying to go one and no every week.
I think that's the mindset.
You know, you can't get ahead of yourself.
I mean, so what are 17 games now?
It's a long season.
So, you know, it's doing our best to go one and O every week.
So Tristan, you mentioned Dave Canaleson,
offense. And I think one of the big things that we were kind of focusing on that the media was
kind of focusing on was a new blocking scheme. And, you know, I think people view offensive
linemen maybe if you're just a general football fan as, oh, look forward, just go hit somebody and
that's that. But how different is this blocking scheme compared to what you were running under
Byron Leftwich? And have there been some growing pains in adopting it?
I think for the most part, you know, it's not it's not too hard of a blocking scheme.
team. It's just, you know, we run a lot of mid-zone stuff, kind of trying to attack the perimeter
a little bit more. And, I mean, everyone knew, you know, the past three years, we were slinging the
ball. That's, that's a lot of what we did. And that's kind of tough on an offensive line,
and just getting rid, you know, going to go into a game thing, and all right, we're going to throw
the ball 50 times. Like, you're going to have to, you know, these defensive ends are getting paid out
the wazoo. So, you know, you're falling right into their strengths. But, you know, for us now,
is just being able to attack, you know, attack them in the run game and kind of tire them out a little bit, you know, so they're not, you know, just pinning their ears back and, you know, hitting us with their best rushes, you know, all four downs. But it has been really nice for us as an O line, like with this blocking scheme, just being able to ground and pound a little bit more.
Do you like being the aggressor as opposed to having to react the way you do in the passing game?
Oh, that's a good one. A little bit. I think it's, it just depends.
pens, honestly, because I mean, when I was in college at Iowa, like, we, you know, we ran the
ball.
Like, that was our thing.
That's still Iowa's thing is running the ball.
So coming into the league, like, I think I was a better pass, or I was better run blocker
than I was a past protector.
But now I think over these past three years, it's kind of changed a little bit just because
of, you know, the amount of reps we were getting throwing the ball compared to running it.
But it is nice being the aggressor, you know, coming off the ball and getting the press on guys,
lean on guys, you know, more and tire them out.
So that is helpful.
You know, you mentioned you were playing with Tom Brady,
and obviously I can't imagine how intimidating that must have been for a young kid,
you know, the guy's the goat.
Baker Efield right now has come in.
He's led your team to 2 and 0.
What kind of different energy does he bring to the offense?
What kind of different energy does he bring to the locker room?
Because I have to imagine there is a change from what Tom brought.
100%.
Baker's been incredible.
I mean, we hang out all the time.
but it is it is a different um oh geez i don't even know how to how to how to say it but like tom
especially for me my rookie year was like it's like he had this like aura you're like yeah god you know
all the time and my goal was like never to make him mad like never to you know i didn't want him to
yell at me that was like my goal for a long time um and i'm not saying you know i don't want baker
to be mad at me or like you know but it's just it's just different like like
Baker, I mean, we're obviously much closer in age. Tom was 21 years older than me, 22 years
older than me. So Baker brings just this swag, just this different type of energy than Tom did.
Tom obviously expected a lot out of us than we expect a lot of ourselves, but it's just different.
They're both great. You know, I love both of them, but it is different.
Another key player on your guys's offense right now is running back Rashad White. People have kind
of been waiting for him to take that step to the next level. And on Sunday, he kind of did
that a big game against the Bears. Can you speak on his kind of growth and how he's kind of coming
into his own? Yeah, absolutely. So obviously last year, Rashad started getting the ball a little more.
He had that big kind of breakout game against the Seahawks when we're over in Germany. And his role
was kind of just expanding from there. And it's been really cool to see Rashad kind of grow as a person
and as a player on our team and kind of taking the brunt of that load as the number one
the number one back and kind of trying to be a four-down back.
So it's been really cool to see him kind of mature and blossom as a running back.
But yeah, he had a great game against the Bears last week.
What do we run for?
Like 125 or something?
You know, we love it.
You know, we're just trying to make holes for him and, you know, he has great vision.
And great skill, you know, finding those holes.
You played the Eagles in the playoffs a couple years ago.
now you get them as the defending Super Bowl participant from the NFC.
Obviously, Jalen Hertz has grown, and they've kind of ascended to that throne in the NFC that you guys were on.
This is a big challenge for y'all.
First and foremost, on film, how nasty does that defensive line look?
It's got some dudes on it.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, I definitely say that's one of their biggest strengths is their defensive lines.
So us is an offensive line.
you know, we're going to have to have to come out, um, firing on all cylinders and, and, you know,
being on the same page, you know, because they, I mean, they got a lot of dudes that,
that, that can rush their passer, you know, one-on-one.
Um, at the same time, you know, if they need to, if they need to, then, you know,
they can get to a lot of twist games, a lot of, a lot of T's, you know, three-man,
three-man stunts inside. Um, so it'll be, you know, that'll be a big challenge for us
up front. And, um, yeah, because they got some, they got some dogs up front.
His name is Tristan Wurfs. He's an offensive tackle for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a pro bowler,
Super Bowl champion and a dog lover, apparently.
I mean, Tristan, we had, your boy Blue was on a little bit here at the beginning.
I got my dogs, never be afraid to have a dog on an interview.
I think it makes people a lot happier than looking at us.
100%.
Tristan, thank you so much for joining us on the Fantasy Points Podcast.
It was wonderful talking to you.
Get back, get on with your off day and have a good one.
Thanks, boys.
I want to thank Tristan Worf's for joining us here on the Fantasy Points Podcast.
I think one of my the things that I don't want to put words in his mouth, but when I asked about the
comparing contrast with Tom Brady and Baker Mayfield, I think what he was probably wanting to say was
he wasn't as afraid of pissing Baker off as he was of pissing Tom off. Not that you want Baker to be
pissed off at you, but like it almost feels like it's a more of a, oh, that's my buddy situation
as opposed to this is the greatest football player who's ever walked the earth. And I have to imagine
there is a little bit of a difference in the aura in the locker room now.
Oh, yeah.
And I actually might be one of the better people to talk to about this because I,
with the jazz, went from Quinn Snyder to Will Hardy.
I don't know if there's basketball fans out there, but Quinn, and I love both,
both great guys.
Quinn was a little more, you know, strict and rigid, and Will was younger in his 30s
and a little more open and kind of have fun kind of guy.
So the difference between the two has to be stark.
And, you know, you don't want to come out here and say, well, Baker likes to goof around.
You know, he's still a leader.
We all understand that.
But we all also understand that he probably has a little more fun.
He probably cracks a few more jokes.
You know, it's probably a little bit lighter in Tampa Bay.
More likely to shotgun a beer with you than Tom Brady is my guess.
Absolutely.
100%.
So, yeah, look, we obviously love talking to players of all different, of all different
trades here. I obviously do a show with Ross Tucker, who's a former offensive lineman. And I
kind of like talking to the offensive lineman. Like the misconception is, and I think in,
in today's football media, we might be getting away from this. The linemen are called the big
uglies, you know, they're probably outside of the quarterback and sometimes including the
quarterback, the smartest players on the field. Like, the things you have to react to is ridiculous.
Yeah. And they got to know where everybody else is going and what everybody
else is doing. They got to know when they can't be downfield. They got to know when they stay at the line.
I mean, it's, yeah, you're communicating with the quarterback and you're kind of running the show.
And I mean, it's not rocket science. You look at the teams that have been successful over the last 10, 15 years.
Very, very few teams are successful without controlling the line of scrimmage from the offensive or defensive side.
It's been a promising season so far for the Buccaneers. I think there was probably a lot of folks who maybe peg them as having the worst team in football.
Certainly doesn't look like it through two weeks. A lot of season left.
They have a really tough game this weekend coming up with Philadelphia, which we discussed.
But a very promising start for the Buccaneers in a very winnable NFC South.
So, Trey, it was a great talking to you.
It was great talking to Tristan Worf's.
Thank you, Tristan Wurfs, and thank you, Trey Camberling.

What the heck?
Maybe we're terrible businessmen.
Yeah, so I saw the lineup and that's like,
yeah, I was in on him.
I was in on him. I was in on him.
But I wasn't in on all of them at the same time.
It's just that that's the trick DFS.
That's the trick to football.
It's a trick to getting all the pieces in place all at once.
