Starting point is 00:00:07 It's time to the Fantasy Points podcast brought to you by FantasyPoint.com. Top level fantasy football and NFL betting analysis from every perspective and angle, from numbers to the film room, with a single goal to help you score more fantasy points. Welcome to another edition of the IDP Corner, presented by FantasyPoint.com. My name is Justin Varns. I'm one of the analysts over at Fantasy Points. And with me, as always, is Mr. Thomas Simons. How are you doing tonight, Thomas? Good partner in crime. I'm doing well.
Starting point is 00:00:43 All right. We got a little bit more preseason football in. So we, you know, we have no idea what, excuse me, excuse me, excuse me, three, is going to bring for us preseason week three. So we're going to try and get as much of the pertinent information out of these first two weeks as possible. Again, you know, we've prattled on and on over, you know, since the draft about so much stuff. So we're trying to really zero in on what we think are the most important. important factors that would greatly affect your draft. You might be drafting somebody, you know, three or four rounds earlier than we think
Starting point is 00:01:18 or a guy who you can get whaled or we think has a lot of value. We're really zeroing in on those. And a lot of this information is based upon what we've seen in preseason and what we've read about training camp or from beat riders, whatever. We're going to try distill that into about a quick 30 minutes here and help you who hopefully have yet to draft because your leagues are smart and you've decided not to draft until right before the season starts. Yeah. Well, speaking of the preseason, we've harped on this quite a bit in that, look, you can't put a lot of stock into what's going on in the preseason.
Starting point is 00:01:54 There's only three games. The preseason landscape has extremely changed over the years. The fact that you only play three games, there's a lot. of players that aren't even playing, for example, in Seattle, almost their entire starting defense has not taken a snap yet in the, in the offs in this preseason. So you've got to take it with a grain of salt and what's going to happen this weekend in the final week of the preseason is not really going to be a true judge of what's going on. It'll give you a gauge and a foundation to work with. And what we've been telling you in the last few podcasts and what we're trying to
Starting point is 00:02:35 tell you in this podcast is basically these are things that we're looking for in targeting things you should be looking for as well. And I'll start off with, in Buffalo, Gregory Russo is pretty much locked down the starting defensive end spot opposite Von Miller. Now, there was some question as to whether or not he would take that position and secure it. And this is really a significant move or a significant item when you can, consider that Miller and Ed Oliver will attract a whole boatload of attention from opposing offensive lines. Now, these two are huge key factors for offensive strategies. So Rousseau's going to pretty much see a jump in stats, seeing a significant snap count, and also the fact that
Starting point is 00:03:27 Miller and Oliver will see a lot of the double teams. I continually am surprised at how late Jonathan Allen is going in drafts. I'm in some expert leagues. I mean, I got him as my DL4. I could not believe he was still sitting there. I was in another expert draft. I think I mentioned this in an earlier podcast. I literally picked him up off the waiver wire.
Starting point is 00:03:51 I could not believe it. So let me just tell you what he's done over the last four seasons. He's had 61 tackles, 68 tackles, 63 tackles, and 62 tackles. This is from a defensive tackle. in most of your leagues. And that is just incredibly high, consistent tackles. And also, he had a, you know, he had a slow sack season in 2020. Last year, he had nine sacks. If you skip 2020, where he had two sacks, the two years before that, he had six sacks and eight sacks. So you're talking about a six to eight sack, 65 to 70 tackle guy. As a defensive tackle, man, I don't
Starting point is 00:04:31 care if it's a defensive tackle only league or a regular DL league. Oh, I'm loving his value. I think he's going to be a top 10 or a top 20 for sure, a DL, and you can get him super late. Totally agree with you on that. In our last podcast, we talked about New England's Malcolm Butler going on injured reserve for the season, done for the year. And I had mentioned that Terrence Mitchell and Jalen Mills would likely start and Jonathan Jones would be the nickelback. Well, Jonathan Jones has performed extremely well this summer, so much so that he's earned the starting cornerback spot opposite Jalen Mills. And Mitchell has not fared that well recently, and in particular this past preseason week,
Starting point is 00:05:17 Miles Bryant has the current slot cornerback spot secured for now. That could change in the final preseason game. Mitchell does bring experience, but Bryant is the current nickel cornerstone. quarterback, not Mitchell, who's right now the fourth man on the depth chart. It's looking again, we've talked so much about defensive line rotations. And one of the things that the Eagles have done over the last several years is they stock up on defensive linemen and they rotate them heavily. It looks like they may be doing that again this year.
Starting point is 00:05:52 We've seen it a little bit in preseason. And what's important here is they tend to work as a whole unit that just rotates. they what they called last year, their alpha and their beta, uh, rotations, um, which means they're not randomly rotating in and out.
Starting point is 00:06:09 They're rotating in like a, like a like a like a, like a team A and a team B. What that means, obviously there's going to be a lot of rotation there. But what, what, what,
Starting point is 00:06:19 what it makes me do is makes me pump the brakes just a little bit on Hassan Reddick in terms of how they're going to use him on this, on this defense. He may be, uh, 60% player. And granted, that's still plenty to be an effective edge rusher on this team. But what it does raise for me is, let's say I'm drafting and I didn't, you know, I either waited on my defensive
Starting point is 00:06:44 line or I'm circling back around for my, my DL2, but most likely like mid-DL-1 to late DL-1, if I'm staring at Heretic and I'm staring at DeMarcus Lawrence and I'm staring at Cameron Jordan, I'm probably going to take either Lawrence, for Jordan here. I'm going with those guys because I feel like I feel better about their overall usage. And I think I'll, I think I'll have a higher floor with someone who I think is going to play closer to 70, 80, maybe even 90% snaps like Jordan and Lawrence like to do. I have to agree with you. And there's a reason why you're finding Brandon Graham and Derek Barnett available later in drafts. Just moving on, I'm going to go into Detroit and talk about
Starting point is 00:07:31 Jeff Okuda, who is apparently has locked down one of the starting cornerback spots for Detroit after rebounding from last year's early season torn Achilles. He's looked fairly well or done fairly well in preseason camp or training camp in the preseason games. So it looks like Okuda could be an integral part of the Detroit Lions passing schemes. Josie Jewell, I think he's the guy to own in Denver. I wanted to point out that Joe Schobert was signed and then quickly released. So that makes me think that Griffith is going to be coming back sooner rather than later, and he'll likely slip into that secondary linebacker job. All that really means is to me that you'll be looking at Griffith.
Starting point is 00:08:22 You might be thinking maybe Alex Singleton has some value there. I'm trying to avoid most of that mess and just lock up. my sights on Josie Jewell, who I think is the primary LB there and will be the only one who I can rely on. Yeah, there's a reason why Schoberton get returned to Pittsburgh. And with Griffith being banged up already in this early in the, not even in the season yet, and Singleton is going to probably be in a rotation with Griffith as they try and keep him healthy. Yes, I totally agree with you on Jewel being the man.
Starting point is 00:08:59 Now, in San Francisco, Javon Kinla is rebounding from an ACL surgery last year. He's looked really, really trim and thin and is in great shape right now. He could be a big, big factor in the middle of that 49ers defensive line. He could see a lot of snaps. He could see over 65% of the snaps. And it's hard to say that a defensive tackle is going to be productive. but I could see Kinlau in a healthy season being a top 10 defensive tackle. Man, you talk about a player who's got a ton of talent who has consistently had,
Starting point is 00:09:39 you know, either injuries that kept him off the field or we've also seen him battle through injuries where he just doesn't play much, but just loaded with talent. Is this going to be Ken Law's first fully, like, healthy season, you know, in recent memory? Great question. I'm totally with you on this. To me, I'm happy to take him late in drafts. He's all but forgotten about keeping in mind, this is only his third season, right? So he played, you know, he was on and off the field in his rookie season and didn't play much last season.
Starting point is 00:10:15 Obviously, he only got in four games. Now he's moving into his third season, which is usually around the time, second or third season. We start to see these younger, defensive linemen, you know, kind of continue to fill out and, you know, make these like leaps. Ken Law, I think, is basically free in drafts. And if you're in a defensive tackle required league, why wouldn't you take a shot on a guy who really does have? We're talking about Jonathan. He's got Jonathan Allen upside, I think, if he could put it all together and stay healthy.
Starting point is 00:10:47 Indeed. All right. Let's talk a little bit about safeties. One of the things that I've been kind of paying closer attention to and trying to really figure out is exactly how Jamal Adams and Jonathan Abram will function under their new defensive coordinators. They have been mainly box players. They're basically their linebackers,
Starting point is 00:11:11 and they're very, very good at that position. However, both of their defensive coordinators, their new defensive coordinators want to play more too high safety. Now, they're only going to be able to do that a little bit with these two players. They're most effective up near the line of scrimmage. But it does make me back off just a little bit because there's a little bit of uncertainty. This is kind of similar to what I was saying with the Reddick, Lawrence, and Jordan thing. The player that I'm finding myself, when I'm at that point in the draft, the player I keep choosing at that position,
Starting point is 00:11:48 which is like late DB1, if you will. I keep coming back to Cameron Curl. I'm looking at a player who has a very consistent role set up for him. First of all, Washington loves him. Greg Cosell loves him, thinks he's a phenomenal player. And we know that the commanders want to have Bobby McCain play the deep role. That's where he's best suited. That's where he was best suited in Miami.
Starting point is 00:12:16 They really like him there. Cameron Curl can do a lot of damage, including rushing the pass. So I think he's going to, by the end of the season, he'll have more snaps near the line of scrimmage than possibly Abram or Adams. And we've relied on their line of scrimmage snaps to boost their fantasy value. So just right there where I'm starting to worry about, you know, we haven't seen Abram on the, the weird thing is the other night in the preseason game. And this is really where my wheels started to spend. He's in the preseason game. and Abram is playing a lot of snaps,
Starting point is 00:12:52 and he's moving around a lot. And the other starting safety, Trayvon Merrig, is, you know, is home. He, you know, most of the starters, all the heavy starters for the Raiders, they're all at home. Derek Carr and Chandler Jones and you name it. The other safety that's home is Duran Harmon. And Duran Harmon is somebody who knows this defensive scheme well from his time in New England. It made me go, wait a minute.
Starting point is 00:13:19 Is it now, you know, did Harmon, did basically, when, when this new staff came over, Patrick Graham, did he say, man, I like, I need two real safeties out there. And I'm a little, you know, so does that mean Abram won't be playing 100% snaps or are, or are they just moving him around because they know they need him to play deep snaps and they have, they want him to get reps? That is entirely possible. There's a really good chance that Abram is still going to be a major player for us. But just that little bit of uncertainty when you're trying to draft a DB1 is the sort of thing that makes me lean on somebody like Cam Curl, who I feel much more confident about will definitely own their role. Yeah. And, you know, the current Raiders coaching staff doesn't have any ties to Jonathan Abram and bringing him on
Starting point is 00:14:16 board. He was somebody they inherited. So, you know, Abraham has does have some issues and has come with some baggage, as we kind of say in the business. But, you know, the fact that that's a huge red flag, which you just brought up. Now, with Jamal Adams, if you find early on in the season that somebody like Josh Jones or Marcus Blair and there's somebody else that could be playing more safety position and joining quandary digs, that means that they're going to use Jamal Adams more in a roving role. If there's only two safeties out there, and that's Adams and Diggs, then he's definitely going to be playing the deeper role or the cover two style safety. that could hinder his fantasy stats.
Starting point is 00:15:12 And the thing about Curl that I really like is that the commanders only go with two linebackers. And so Curl will fill a DB linebacker hybrid role, especially in the passing packages and the sub-packages. Now, in Minnesota, they brought in this brand new three-four scheme, and they're adjusting really well to this new system that's being implemented. In particular, Zadaria Smith and DeNeal Hunter are both healthy, and they're both doing really well in this new system. Now, Smith has really stood out. In particular, he stood out in joint practices recently against the 49ers. Smith could bring some heavy-duty sack totals,
Starting point is 00:15:59 and the fact that he's healthy and working one side of the field opens up opportunities for Hunter as well. So these two linebackers could both hit. double-digit sacks in 2022. Yeah, and Hunter is somebody who, again, has seen depressed value because of his injury last year. You know, he injured his neck and then, you know, everybody was kind of worried about him. But this is still a month.
Starting point is 00:16:27 Both of these guys are monster players. And I totally could see these guys being, finishing in the top 10 for edges. And again, in drafts, I've seen, I've seen Hunter go. you know, DL10 or, yeah, it's crazy. Well, especially with the fact that Hunter is a defensive end that's now being labeled the linebacker in many of these leagues. And a lot of folks will back off on the fact that that is a linebacker role for, you know, when defensive ends go to linebacker, they tend to belly up when it comes to fantasy production.
Starting point is 00:17:05 So in Hunter's case, though, the system that they're using is a very aggressive system that that linebackers can produce fantasy points, especially in big play scoring systems that sacks are high production. And you're making a great point about how both of these guys, we're used to Smith being an outside linebacker,
Starting point is 00:17:31 but when it comes to guys like Hunter, on our site on fantasy points, we have it broken down by DL LB and DB, but we also have an edge category, which basically mixes all of our defensive ends and outside linebackers together. So you don't have to worry about trying to go back and forth from DL to LB. If your league has edge or if your league happens to have a Hunter listed as a DL, make sure you sort by the edge tab. And that should give you all the information you need. That will also help you make sure you don't miss anyone.
Starting point is 00:18:08 Indeed. So I'm doing nothing but being the bearer of bad news tonight. And focusing more on some of the uncertainty that I see in these preseason games of what it might mean. And I'm trying to put myself, you know, this is what happens to both of us when we're drafting. We're trying to put ourselves in your position and say, okay, so here we are. you've got to draft a DL2 or a DL3 and you come up to some names like Jermaine Johnson, you come up to, you know, Carl Lawson, et cetera. And maybe there's some other names right around there like a Jonathan Allen or, you know,
Starting point is 00:18:50 sometimes like I said, I'm surprised to see how late DeNeil Hunter is going in some leagues. So I want to talk about the Jets because they are absolutely looking like another one of these teams who's going to have a heavy rotation when it comes to the defensive line. We've seen it a bunch in preseason. And the reason this is important, or the reason the stuff that all the extra rotating that we're seeing, the reason that has more weight to it than maybe another team is, this is what Robert Sala did when he was in San Francisco. He had a bunch of good defensive linemen, and he found that they were most effective
Starting point is 00:19:29 if they kept them fresh. And this is something Bill Belichick has done a lot. There's a lot of great coaches that realize it's better to have literally 12, you know, 12 people that you can put on the defensive line and constantly rotate and constantly keep their legs fresh because what they're going up against is an offensive line that never comes off the field. So some of those offensive linemen are going to be on snap 50 and snap 60. And they're going to be going up against defensive linemen who are on snap. 20 or snap 30 or snap 8 or 9. So it's a great defensive strategy, but it is terrible for fantasy. So you've got, you know, what we've seen is we've seen more of Jacob Martin and Bryce Huff getting
Starting point is 00:20:16 into the mix around John Franklin Myers and Carl Lawson and Jermaine Johnson. Germain Johnson, the heavily touted rookie. I, and this is something Thomas and I have preached since the draft. Jermaine Johnson is very unlikely to play more than, you know, to play a 60% stand. I'd be surprised if he hit 50%. He's probably going to be more like in the 30 to 40%. So, but also that means be a little bit careful about Carl Lawson. It's not just a slam dunk. Right.
Starting point is 00:20:46 He's going to be a 70 or 80% snap guy. They might also look to keep him fresh. I mean, you know, Sala did that with DeForest Buckner. We saw Buckner snaps. We saw Buckner's production drop in San Francisco, not because of his talent, but because he was playing 40 to 50% of the snaps. He's just not getting enough reps. So I'd back off a little bit of Carl Lawson and way off of Jermaine Johnson. And Jacob Martin has had one heck of a summer to the point where he is not only involved in this rotation,
Starting point is 00:21:23 but he could see probably more snaps than obviously more snaps than we think. Jermaine Johnson's going to get, but he could out snap Lawson if he continues to be productive and advantageous for their defensive schemes. Now, I'm going to move over to the Colts for a minute here and talk about Shaquille Leonard, Darius Shaquille Leonard. He doesn't appear to be ready to return from his back surgery yet, and this is complicating his opportunity to be a productive IDP for you, right? out of the gate. And it's even more
Starting point is 00:22:00 complicated by the fact that Gus Bradley is now the defensive coordinator and Leonard has to learn a brand new system as well as trying to return from this back surgery and get healthy. Bobby Okariki could be the guy for the next, at least for the first three to four games of the season until Leonard is back and knows their system. Now yes, Leonard
Starting point is 00:22:24 could be playing, but you've got to expect Leonard to have a slow start as one, he's trying to return from back surgery, and two, he's also dealing with a brand new system. Yeah, and Frank Reich was quoted as basically saying like, you know, we've got to get him off the pup so that we can get him practicing. And, you know, we see tons of linebackers, starting linebackers, veteran linebackers, barely playing snaps in preseason because, you know, they're in a familiar system. They're just trying to, you know, the coach. coaches are trying to be very smart with these players. And obviously,
Starting point is 00:23:01 Leonard is incredibly talented, but it is a new system. And so the other big thing with Leonard is, you know, can he come off the pup in time to not miss the first four games? You know, that is the huge element. So you're watching that very carefully. If he doesn't go on Pup for the regular season and miss the first four games, then that means he's probably going to, he might miss a game or two. He might not miss any games, but he might miss a game or two.
Starting point is 00:23:33 And to me, I'm going to take that. I'm going to take that as he has an extra buy week or something. I want Leonard's incredibly high upside. And I don't mind if I have to scuffle for a game or two. However, if he misses at least, it's not just for, it's a minimum of four games. If he misses at least four games, now we're starting to creep around, you know, quarter of the season him being missed. Yeah, that's
Starting point is 00:24:00 a big chunk of time. And you had mentioned the fact that some of these players haven't played a single snap in the preseason games. But one, as you said, they are playing in systems that they know and two, they are practicing whereas Leonard is in a new system that he's not familiar with
Starting point is 00:24:16 and he's not practicing. So that's a big red flag for everybody to keep an eye on going into next week's cuts and how they handle his PUP situation. So again, I'm continuing to rain on everyone's parade here. This was a pretty deep one, though.
Starting point is 00:24:36 I'm trying to kind of spread out for shallow leagues and deep leagues. I'm seeing Ashton Davis, the safety out of the Jets organization. I'm seeing him drafted as a DB3 or DB4. And I just wanted to point out that he's really been struggling in camp. It is certainly looking like, you know, Lamarcus Joyner and Jordan Whitehead are the two main safeties. And Zach Rosenblatt of the Athletics, we just reported that he thinks that Ashton Davis is struggling to hang on to the third safety role. So to me, he's undraftable. There are way too many safeties out there.
Starting point is 00:25:22 You know, we love the fact that he's this incredibly, like, fast, player had all this, you know, all this great hype coming, you know, matching him up with Marcus May, yada, yada, yada. But if he, if he's not even the third safety, I want no part of him. Especially with the fact that, you know, they've got the two-season veteran safeties in the Robert Salat-style defense, which relies heavily on, on the safeties being smart and knowledgeable. And they also have Jason Pennock and Will Parks. that Davis is dealing with as for the third safety spot. So, yeah, he's in for a tough struggle.
Starting point is 00:26:05 And, you know, I wouldn't be surprised if his name appears in that 35-man cut or 30-man cut that or 32-man cut that happens next Tuesday. All right. Hopefully this will help you all as you're getting ready to draft. We also want to hit some important injury notes. You know, it's our favorite thing to do. It's talking about the players who will not be playing football lately. But these are very important, particularly as you move into drafts.
Starting point is 00:26:33 We have a little bit of good news sprinkled in here, don't we, Thomas? Yes and no. So much confidence. We'll start off with the bad news, and that's Chase Young, who tore his ACL and MCL back on November 14th of last year, was placed on the physically unable to perform list, and he'll miss the first four games of the season because he's on the first four games. PUP list. Now we've adjusted them in our projections and you should be aware of that to be seen how he's going to rebound when he does come off the list in the end of September, but you also
Starting point is 00:27:10 have to take into consideration that if they put him on the PUP list now, they're pretty confident he's not ready and won't be ready. So temper your expectations on Young when that happens. You agree with that? Yeah, absolutely. He's, you know, our guy John Hanson always is always talking about vibes, right? Exactly. And, you know,
Starting point is 00:27:36 good vibes and bad vibes and there's been nothing but bad vibes around Chase Young. I still think he's got a ton of talent and I still think he's got to be a major contributor over his career, but you know, man, he's just so hard to draft right now
Starting point is 00:27:52 because somebody is going to take him for their D. Yeah, somebody's going to take him for the DL too. I would literally, I want Chase Young on my bench, which, which means there's no way he's going to be there after I've drafted my top couple of, top couple of DLs. So I'll continue on in Miami, cornerback McKenzie Alexander, the former Viking, signed with the Dolphins last week, and then promptly tore his ACL in the first preseason game he played and is done for the season. He was placed on IR. Now, Byron Jones, who had off-season ankle surgery, may not be ready for the season opener either.
Starting point is 00:28:31 And two other cornerbacks got hurt in that preseason game. So the Dolphins' cornerback situation is looking pretty bleak at this point in time. Now, over in New York, Kavon Tebow, we've been talking about the possibility of this rookie having a bus tag on him. And he was one of the ones that you had brought up in the past podcast about him being a possible bust. And while he sprained his MCL on a low chop block in preseason week two, and is out three to four weeks. So this is going to be interesting to see whether or not he's going to miss probably at least two games. But will he start on the PUP list, which will automatically sit him out for four?
Starting point is 00:29:23 games. And if he does, that bus tag is really starting to look good. You got a little bit of good news. See this? Look at it's coming up. Your next one's actually some decent news. Yeah. Jesse Bates, the third, scientist franchise tender with the Bengals. And he reported to the Cincinnati facility. So the Bengals have Bates back for the year. And he's approaching this with a, this is a prove-it season for me. And I'm going going for a contract next year, and this is the season that he's going to use to get that contract. So if you're looking for players that have contracts that are expiring, bait should be at the top
Starting point is 00:30:05 of your list. Now, another guy who is a possible addition to the team for Las Vegas is in Dhaban Su. They've shown interest in the defensive tackle, and the problem is he's asking for $9 million for one year. And that's the main reason why nobody is signing Sue is because of the fact that that's a pretty big contract for a guy who's on the tail end or the dusk side of his career. So that's something to keep an eye on going down the road and how that will affect the defensive line if the Raiders do indeed sign Sue.
Starting point is 00:30:46 What are your thoughts on Sue joining the Raiders? I've been waiting for Sue to sign somewhere. just figured at some point he was going to provide some depth. The Raiders, man, they are, you got to give it to them. They are seriously going for it. They are, you know, they brought in Chandler Jones, you know, to match up with Max Crosby. They already have a pretty solid interior line.
Starting point is 00:31:11 And it would be, I mean, it would be great for them to have Sue. And Sue could obviously work in just as a rotational element here. I love Sue being a part of this puzzle. because I think it would really help Chandler Jones and Max Crosby. They need more space eaters there. Sue has, you know, everywhere Sue goes, the people around him, their production goes through the roof. So to me, you know, even him playing 30, 40 percent,
Starting point is 00:31:45 I think would make a big impact. Obviously, they're going to be using, you know, a lot of their interior talent that they already have. But for him just to rotate and give, you know, give guys like Jonathan Hankins a little bit of a breather. But really, I could see him actually playing,
Starting point is 00:32:06 uh, uh, next to Hankins. I mean, other than that, they got Bilal Nichols. They got Vernon Butler, you know,
Starting point is 00:32:12 Matthew Butler. Um, not a ton of heavy hitters there. Uh, so, I mean, imagine Hankins, Sue,
Starting point is 00:32:19 and then, uh, Chandler Jones and Max Crosby on the edge, that's a pretty formidable defensive line. And I mean, if they can get some solid cornerback play out of Rock Yassin and Trayvon and everything works out back there with their three safety sets of Abram, Merrigan, and Harmon. I don't see the Raiders being a massive fantasy defense, but my guess is they would, this is going to be a much improved defense.
Starting point is 00:32:50 and I really love Jones's and Crosby's ceiling. I don't think their floor is affected, but I think their ceiling raises with Sue in the middle of that line. Yeah, and I don't see Sue being a top 10 defensive tackle, but I do see him being a very serviceable fantasy option given certain weeks. So, yeah, I would, if he indeed signs with the Raiders, that's something to keep an eye on. Now, keeping an eye on Marcus Peters in Baltimore, Peters tour is ACL back in 2021.
Starting point is 00:33:26 Well, they just brought him off the PUP list, but hold your breath on that because he's not a lock to play in week one. So Peters did come off PUP, which is a very positive sign, but he's also still not quite 100% and may not be ready for the season opener. The fact that he came off POP is a positive in the fact that he won't be missing the first four games of the season, but could miss one. Now, you had some more news out of Indianapolis, do you not? Yeah, so we're recording this on Wednesday night. Earlier today, Quitty Pay, in practice, the Colts defensive end, fell down in practice, held his knee. They called the Cardover. It looked pretty bad.
Starting point is 00:34:14 However, a little bit later in the practice, he was walking around. He had his knee wrapped, but he was walking around a little bit. We haven't heard yet any reports, but we haven't heard anything that made it seem like that it was certainly an ACL. I mean, it could be. We don't know, but usually the news cycle around something like an ACL or something, something like a season ending injury, kind of, you know, the smoke around the fire looks the same. And usually when it's something where they've dodged a bullet, that smoke has a different color to it.
Starting point is 00:34:55 And it's more of that, that smoke that I'm seeing so far. So I'm going to hold out hope that that pay didn't do any sort of season ending damage to his knee. But is he going to be out, you know, is he going to just miss a week and be okay for week one and play 100% of the snaps or is he going to be two or three weeks out or is he going to go on the pup. So if you're drafting right now, you're drafting this weekend, just make sure you follow up and keep track of pay because he may be somebody who, you know, slips out of the radar and all a sudden you didn't realize he's missing the first couple of games of the season. Another note from today was Dion Jones in Atlanta. He returned to practice for the first time since training camp started.
Starting point is 00:35:43 So he was activated off the PUP list today. So that's another thing to keep an eye on. And poor Hugo Amati. This guy gets traded from Seattle and then turns around. And now he's traded again by, he went to Philadelphia. And now he's being traded again to Tennessee from Philadelphia. There was a sixth round pick going to the Eagles, a seventh round pick, going to Tennessee in
Starting point is 00:36:14 2024 and Amadi goes to Tennessee as well. So other than that, I mean, I think that pretty much covers the news that we want to spill for today at least. Yeah, I think that's going to wrap it up. Thanks everyone for listening.
