Hey, what's up?
Merry Christmas.
Happy holidays.
and thanks for subscribing and listening to the Fantasy Points podcast all year long.
Week 16 is just about in the books,
and Brian Drake and I are back for the normal Monday morning reaction.
And react, I do, to things like Marvin Harrison being soft as tissue paper,
the Bears defense being awful, but Jared Golf and the Lions being awesome.
Kyle Pitts being an absolute catastrophe.
and more in this edition of the podcast.
Thanks for liking and subscribing, like I said.
Happy holidays, like I also said.
And we'll catch you next time.
And you're welcome.
Across the Fantasy Universe.
Welcome to Fantasy Championship Week, everybody.
As you're listening to this, it is now Monday, maybe Tuesday of Week 17.
We're barreling straight ahead into the fantasy football championship.
But what we do on this podcast, myself, Brian Drake, the guru, John Hansen.
It's the Fantasy Points podcast.
We look back at the week that was, what do we get right?
What do we get wrong?
You know, and basically what's in the bottom of our cup?
That's kind of how this show goes, as we just empty the notebook, empty the Red Solo Cup,
and have a lot of fun talking about fantasy football with you.
Congratulations, if you're moving on to a championship, and hopefully you're with us
until you're hoisting those trophies and cashing those checks.
But, John, weird week, you know, a lot going on, Christmas shopping, and,
family stuff and games on freaking every day of the week, it seems.
But we got a Sunday behind us.
How did it go for you and your props?
It was a great week, actually.
You know, we'll get into all of it.
But very good week.
And it is championship week.
And this is the Fantasy Points podcast.
So I think it is very apropos because there's only one league that is officially like a fantasy
points expert league.
and it is the Fantasy Points
Dynasty League in which
we drafted from
scratch upon the launch
of the website in 2020
and I happen
to have emerged
victorious in a
slug fest in the semis
over the grinder
Tom Braley
176.7
to 169.0.0.0.
So it was quite, quite close.
So yeah, I'm in a good mood.
I'm in the ship, baby, which means I will get my ass kicked by Paul Kelly because that's just the way it's going to happen.
But I'm happy to be here.
Hopefully not.
Hopefully not.
Hopefully we can find some nuggets here throughout the week to get us into the right frame of mind.
And maybe it's picking up the right defense.
And if you did that in the Atlanta against New York Giants game, which if you're reading the article at fantasy points.com, I was begging people for two weeks to pick up.
up Atlanta. They scored 25 fantasy points, John. A couple of pick sixes, really whatever they want to do.
Three sacks, a fumble recovery. I mean, whatever you want to do against, against Drewlock and the
Giants, they're well on the way to the number one pick. But besides whatever happened with the
giants, let's talk about Michael Pennix and his first start for the Atlanta Falcons.
I was thinking he was going to be a little more explosive. He was going to maybe throw a touchdown pass.
Heaven forbid, 18 to 27 for 202. No,
touchdowns and an interception.
He also ran for three yards.
But he did get the ball to Darnel Mooney, happy about that for 82 yards, tried to get
the ball to Drake London, eight targets, five for 59.
That was about it through the air, John.
It was otherwise just the Bijon Robinson on the ground show.
Yeah, I had the, I mean, the guess basically incorrect read.
I knew he could kind of unlock a little bit down.
field.
So I thought maybe it was going to be a Pitts thing, but barking up the wrong tree there,
it ended up being Mooney.
Pitts's season, career, football life is in the absolute shitter right now.
It's absolutely pathetic.
Only one game of Pennix here, but man, I thought maybe we had something there.
It was a good schematic matchup for him.
It was a perfect schematic matchup for him because he has crushed single high, which
they run a lot.
and didn't even garner more than two targets so pretty pathetic bjean was awesome box score may not look
overly impressive but he looked great um yeah not much else going on here london you know he is
kind of still the alpha at least did what he could uh i did win a prop on tyrone tracy i thought it was
ridiculous um the odds were bad but i wrote in the article hey i only do this once in a while but
yeah we're going with this one uh i actually said believe
leave on the on the live stream hey uh you know with malik neighbors at least we know drew lock
and get them like you know seven for like 64 and he got seven for 70 for 68 yeah elsewhere for the
giants you did mention in your hans and tints article if you needed him and you're desperate
wandell robinson could get you five or six grabs and he came through today wandell it 12 targets
went seven for 62 you also mentioned that the falcons are
a perimeter funnel and it should be good for Malik neighbors. He sees 14 targets,
holy smokes, go seven for 68 for the New York football Giants. Really, it's neighbors, it's Tracy,
it's a hope and a prayer. And Tracy really is just you're hoping he scores a touchdown going
forward. Well, at least Singletary was not a factor at all in the passing game. So, you know,
two more games to go. One more that will likely mean a lot. And, you know, I haven't seen like the
the snap numbers, but I would imagine Tracy did 60% of the snaps at least.
Let's see if I can find that for you here.
Let's take a look.
Let's see what we got here.
All right.
That's literally what I have told out in front of me when I do the show.
And of course, it's like the one game I can't find.
Of course it is.
Here it is 60%.
Yes.
And he had, Tracy had 60% of the snaps.
Three for three inside the 10.
Singletary, 24% of the snaps, 6 and 9 on third down.
and then Eric Gray had a lot of work later in the fourth quarter.
There you go.
I called it.
If you need a defense next week, spoiler alert.
Indianapolis Colts play these giants.
So get ahead on the waiver wire while you can.
Let's keep it cruising here, Fantasy Points podcast.
Drake and the Guru.
This was an interesting game, a little fun spot for the Carolina Panthers,
getting a 3630 win over the Arizona Cardinals in overtime.
They're kind of building something here in Carolina.
it, John. So Dave Canales, it was rough early in the season. A lot of people were giving
him the business because, you know, they were just so in that. Remember, they sat down
Bryce Young for a while. And now, I mean, it's still not great. Let's be honest. But they found
something in Chuba Hubbard feeding him the ball, 25 carries for a buck 52 and two scores.
You know, they're, they don't have much on the outside. I'm sure they'll address that in the
drafting free agency, but I'm impressed with what these Panthers are doing.
Yeah, Dave Canales is, I wonder about his ceiling, but his floor is good.
He's shown that in his last three stops here.
Now, this one, where they've turned things around a little bit.
Yeah, Chuba Hubbard might not be a great one back, but he's a one back.
I mean, he's a one in the national football league.
So he's one of the 32 best dudes to be.
a primary guy a feature guy uh i would necessarily want to call him a foundational guy but a primary back
you know it'd be nice to to pair him up with a like a bigger sledgehammer guy you know like a
tyler alger let's say someone like that um i did have adam feeling as one of my touchdown props
so that one hit that was nice on the other side i mean look real quick shout out to james
Connor. He was one of my props.
He hit easily. Give him a lot
of love this morning on Vison with
Rich Gannon.
But I also mentioned
and warmed up to the idea
that, okay, you know what,
it's a Marvin Harrison game. To
at very least, get 51
yards.
But unbelievably,
you couldn't even get to 51.
Now, look, I'm not
studying this situation.
you know, I'm covering all 32 teams here.
I'm not putting the fine microscope on this,
but it looks, it's embarrassing right now.
Like how much of it is Marvin Harrison?
How much of is Kylo Murray?
How much of it is the offense and the play calling?
I'm sure it's a bunch of all of it.
But number one, this guy is soft.
I mean, unless he's out there running against air,
and the timing of the play is wonderful
and his route running was pristine
he has a chance to run like a gazelle
and leap in the air make a great catch
and I mean he'll do that like three times a year
otherwise like all right dude we're playing from behind
you know can you can you move the sticks first
a little bit here or you know can you come back to the football
and win on a contested catch the answer's no I mean
This guy looks like a child out there lately.
It's pathetic.
Marvin Harrison's long today was 12 yards.
12 yards.
Eight targets on the day.
He's not his father.
That is for shit, sure.
Okay.
Not even close.
Shout out to Syracuse, Marvin Harrison.
Hey, the story of this game, though,
James Connor did get injured.
I mean, we've been waiting for that all year,
and now it springs on us here in the fantasy semifinals.
after he goes for a buck 17 and and a score.
That's what your guy Paul Kelly would always say.
He goes, if you're going to get hurt, do something first.
Totally.
And James Connor did.
So they play in a short week.
The Cardinals play on Saturday this week.
So if you're hitting that waiver wire, you got to look for, you know,
their guys, DJ Dallas is their passing down back.
Michael Carter is basically their thumper.
And you've got to see if Trey Benson, who didn't play in this game with an injury,
you can get back to practice.
So those are the names you're going to watch on the waiver wire going forward
because we are not sure if James Connor is going to play.
Yeah, I mean, you're hoping for Benson.
I mean, he's been the guy all year.
So it's unfortunate timing.
Also, uh, buzzkill for Tray McBride.
I mean, again, uh, Kyler, I mean, it's just absolutely painful.
I, I think I'd rather just quit, you know, if you've found,
had him in a dynasty league. Can I abandon the team? Can I quit? Because like, what are you doing
every week going to battle with this guy? I mean, you want to talk about a yo-yo ride here.
Joe Dolan tweeted out during the game. He's like, Kyla Murray just ain't it. He ain't him.
No. You're tied into him, so he'll be there for a while. Let's take a timeout. And when we come
back on the other side, we got to talk about the Detroit Lions. They got nobody on defense, John.
And it doesn't matter because they got the best offensive play caller in the league pulling things out of his ass.
We're going to talk about this on the other side.
It's the Fantasy Points Podcast.
All right, Fantasy Points Podcast, Drake and the Guru.
Hey, by the way, folks, if you still want to get in over at FantasyPoint.com, this is the best time of year.
We've got our early bird pricing.
You can get the rest of 2024 and all of 2025 for the absolute best price.
I'm talking about you want info on props.
You want our DFS optimizer.
You want the fantasy points data.
Get all of it for this year.
Crush props, crush DFS for the rest of this season.
Because even after fantasy football, regular season and playoffs,
and they're still NFL to go, right?
We got a lot of stuff to bet on.
And then all of next year for the best price, go over there.
Check it out at fantasy points.com.
All right, guru, 3417 lions get the W over the Chicago Bears.
I was one.
I thought, listen, the bears are going to put up a fight.
They're going to be into this.
You know, they're kind of debuting for their next headcount.
coach there, Ben Johnson, and he's just ramming it down their throat.
Did you see the play where Jared Gough fakes as if he trips coming out from under center?
Javier Gipps falls on the ground like he's recovering a fumble.
The whole defense is like, oh, wait, what's going on?
And then he throws a freaking touchdown pass to Sammy Leporta.
Are you kidding me with this?
Phenomenal, yeah.
I had Leporta as a touchdown prop in my article, gave him a lot of love this morning in the article.
I got everything right with this one.
I guess the only thing, maybe a Monra, I mean, he crushed too.
So yeah, I guess it's easy when everyone does well.
I mean, Jemir Gibbs is so damn good.
I did hypothesize, though, in the Hanson Sins article that, you know what?
I know it's colder weather.
He's outdoors.
You know, that narrative has been quelled.
Maybe they come out a little sling it a little bit here, make a point, which they kind of did.
So, yeah, big game.
here start them if you got him baby against the bears as as i've been saying this week i made rich
gannon laugh this morning uh i'm like don't ever hire a defensive minded coach to run your team and be your
head coach but if you do do not fire the man mid season because your your d is going to fall off a cliff
as the bears kind of have the bears converted two of ten third downs today on a day where
Caleb Williams completed 26 of 40 for 3, 34, and 2.
Those two touchdowns going to Keenan Allen and Cole Commet.
Hey, nice to see Cole Commet pop up and Bogart a touchdown, one of his two freaking grabs on the day.
I was in on DJ Moore.
I mean, seven for 68, fine.
You'll take it.
But I was hoping for kind of a bigger day.
He was a guy who was even pushing a little bit of a DFS article.
Yeah, no, he was one of my top five prop plays.
Now, it hit, it won.
But yeah, a little underwhelming.
But Keenan Allen kind of bogarded it again.
And I did mention we did have that data point about how I pull it up right here.
Bap-da-p-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba.
He's kind of been the lines are a deep funnel allowing the six most blah, blah, blah, blah.
Keenan Allen leads the bears in deep targets.
So that point there played out because it happened.
Keenan Allen, 141 yards in a touchdown.
So when you're analyzing these guys, John, and you're projecting the bears,
maybe this is for folks out there who, you know, they don't get into the weeds of how you do your job.
But do you really look at those kind of numbers, like the coverage shells and how these guys do individually against those matchups?
Because it is so weak to week with the Chicago team based on really the defense that they're going against.
It could be a DJ Moore game.
It could be a Dune.J. Moore game.
Today, the numbers said it's an Allen game, and it was.
Yeah, and it also said it was a Moore game, too, and it kind of was.
I mean, you know, he got 10 targets, seven grabs.
You do all those things you said, but a lot of it's fluid.
Like in the first matchup, they, lines were a slot funnel on Thanksgiving.
Fast order a month later, they were kind of the opposite of that.
Yet they were also a deep funnel.
And Alan made that big play.
So a lot of it's interchangeable and flexible.
flexible, but it's also much more difficult when it's week to week, week to week with the
quarterback.
So you've kind of got to bake that in.
Like, for example, I actually, despite not having a ton of confidence in freaking Caleb Williams,
I actually did list DJ Moore over 56 yards or whatever the hell it was as one of my
top five props.
Not, and that was because of the schematic matchup.
Now, I would not have done that given the fact that, I think,
I lost a prop the week before with them if it was a different schematic matchup.
So that's a small example of the power of the data, though.
Let's roll on here.
Cleveland and Cincinnati, Bengals get a 24-6 win over the Browns.
They improved to seven and eight on the season.
And listen, we mentioned every week, Joe Burrow, one of the hottest guys in the league playing the quarterback position.
252 yards, three touchdowns for Joey Burrow.
He hits Chase.
He hits Higgins.
He hits Yoshavas for passing touchdowns.
Noted it in your article, John.
I was reading through here and you talked about how the Browns are the second highest target share on the outside.
They're a deep funnel.
Oh, what do you know?
Jamar Chase catches six balls for 97 yards and a touchdown.
The best receiver in fantasy this year continues to shine.
And T. Higgins really coming through.
He had an ankle injury.
So watch.
I mean, the guys beat up every week, it seems.
But great to see.
We know where the points are going with the Cincinnati Bengals.
So it's real easy to project, real easy to put these guys in your lineups,
either season long or DFS.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I mean, I like Chase Brown.
He didn't score, I guess.
But, you know, ran for 91 yards.
A pretty good day at the office.
So we got what?
We got 14 points.
Pretty good.
Chase did get a little lucky on that last play.
It was kind of like a broken play.
They kind of stopped playing.
I also noted in the article,
and I didn't even take my own advice, actually,
but I'm like, look, man,
Dave and Ajoku here.
It's a good matchup to exploit if you have a little balls about you.
And he didn't do anything for the first half.
And then he kind of blew up.
I actually started Jerome Ford against the grinder in our fantasy points playoff matchup.
And he freaking crushed.
So I won't expect much from him.
But I've always liked Jerome Ford.
That's why I've had him on my roster for two years, three years.
24 points today.
It's pretty good.
Pretty surprising.
but unsurprising was the fact that Judy came up small.
So again, DTR is only going to get it to Najoku
and he maybe check it down.
That's it.
So these other receivers are dead.
Yeah, if Jerome Ford is somehow still on the waiver wire,
pick them up.
Cleveland's going to play against Miami next week.
So another defense you guys might want to look at
is the Miami Dolphins for next week.
We are all about the Bengals this week.
Two really good showings for the Bengals here.
five sacks today, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery on DTR.
So you can drop Cincinnati next week when they play against Denver.
But hey, go pick up those Miami Dolphins while you can.
Cruising along here at Fantasy Points podcast.
This was a game, John, where everybody who got eliminated a week ago,
because Jonathan Taylor dropping a ball at the one-yard line, broke their freaking television.
because JT went ham.
29 carries, Guru for 218 and 3.
Holy smokes, what a day.
This is what we see with Jonathan Taylor.
I remember you called him a Hall of Famer,
like in training camp of his rookie year.
And games like this or why?
Yeah, no doubt.
And by the way, on my team in the Fantasy Points,
Dynasty League, this is why I'm advancing to the Super Bowl.
I traded, I passed someone in the draft,
and I regretted it so badly that I had to make a trade and I traded AJ Brown in a big
package and I got my guy J.T.
And then he went on IR for the whole year.
But hey, he's back now and got me to the ship.
I actually wrote that he would make good on last week's blunder basically here.
Well, I said he'll be motivated, which I was kind of making the point.
Like this guy for him to make that like he's going to make up for that one.
It wasn't the greatest matchup by the way.
And I still listed it as a matchup to exploit.
So that that was good.
I didn't like Josh Downs based on the matchup.
And he didn't do much.
But you know, he's just he's so slippery.
He could always just sneak through for a big play, which you did a 27 yard touchdown.
How about my love for Chigga Conquo though?
I was in on his touchdown prop.
It was like plus 2.390.
And I played his yardage prop.
And I wrote him up in the article.
And he absolutely murdered here.
Nine grabs on 11 targets for 81.
Now, I did get Calvin Ridley wrong.
I wasn't feeling Ridley.
You know, he made two good plays, but they were big plays.
And then my guy, Taj Spears, I actually had him as a touchdown prop.
So it was a pretty good game of calls overall here.
Yeah, Tadj Spears, 60% of the snaps compared to 40 for Tony Pollard.
We didn't know what Pollard was going to do because he didn't practice all week long,
still had eight carries for 35 yards.
I mean, this team didn't run the ball well at all.
It just so happens that Tadje Spears turned 10 of his carries that he averaged 2.7 yards
of carry into two touchdowns.
So that's really all that matters here.
I mean, he's fresh, man.
He's got fresh legs.
Would you recommend because of Mason Rudolph taking over for the Titans and we see
what Chigacanquo did here. Would you recommend Chigacanquo in the fantasy championship? Week 17,
the Titans play against the Jaguars. I mean, that's a pretty good batch up. Yeah.
Yeah, I could see him getting that done again. I'm in. I'm in on that. That's two games in a row
where he's been huge with Mason Rudolph. Yeah, it's another one too, those defenses. Just
anytime you can find a defense against Tennessee, go and pick him up and do so because they,
are freaking awful.
Of course.
Of course, your boy,
Nick Westbrook Aquine
vulture to touchdown.
I was envisioning for Chiggy.
That's what he does, baby.
Yeah.
And Chigy caught a two-point conversion,
too, which stuck on my craw.
How about one more thing on this game?
Anthony Richardson wins the game.
3830 is, you know,
as a starting quarterback here.
He completed seven passes today.
He was seven of 11 for 131,
a touchdown,
and an interception.
I mean, that's terrible, but that just goes to show you're just going to put it in Jonathan Taylor's belly 29 times.
Well, here's what I wrote.
Titans give up the third fierce passing yards per game, but they've allowed multiple passing.
This is a slightly positive schematic matchup.
Anthony Richardson, who's put up 4.5 finish points as a runner in six straight starts.
So he only needs to throw for 125 with a touchdown to have a solid day.
and he threw for 131 in a touchdown.
And then I wrote, of course, he's thrown two I&Ts and back-to-back games.
So he only threw one.
So that's literally what I wrote.
And that's exactly what he did.
And he had us a whole day.
Yeah, 70 yards rushing and a score on the ground for Anthony Richardson.
So he's an interesting guy.
As we kind of spin it forward to look to next year,
people love his up, especially, you know, the best ball bros out there.
And then that's kind of how the ADP start.
formulating over the spring and summer.
And Richardson just has this tantalizing upside.
But John, unless they go and really get some kind of quarterback guru in there,
like, I don't want any part of this guy for fantasy next year.
Yeah, I mean, does it, you know what, where does he fall?
Is he, does he fall into jail and hurts or Justin Fields or in between?
You know, I mean, Jalen Hertz is a guy who kind of look lost back there.
You know, wasn't asked to do much, but he's seemingly progressed,
although his processing is still not great, locks on to one receiver and all that.
I mean, that's it, you know, like, I think he'll be, I feel better about his chances of turning around
than I did about fields after two years.
I'll tell you that.
At least what Richardson has going for him is the supporting cast around him.
And that's with some of these rookie quarterback, especially the runners, you can't say, because, you know, Hertz has an incredible cast everywhere, you know, between Brown and now Sequin and the offensive line.
So we'll see what happens with Richardson.
Just a storyline to keep an eye on as we go forward.
We're cruising through things here on the Fantasy Points podcast.
Jets Rams.
Talk about exciting.
Our guy Eddie Gardner, producer Eddie from the Sirius XM morning show went to this game.
and we wanted him to bring a bag to wear over his head that just said sell the team.
Yeah, and get a picture of it.
I know.
She's this Jets team.
What do you make of what happened with the Jets this week?
The story coming out from Diana Rossini and Michael Silver and everybody about Woody Johnson,
allowing his sons to have influence over the team and nixing a Judy trade because of his madden rating.
What do you take from all this?
The Jets are a complete shit show.
and they have been for a couple of decades.
They're terrible.
I mean, what do you know?
I mean, the owner's named is literally after a hard on.
I mean, come on now.
The man is named after an erection.
I mean, how seriously can we take them?
One of his kids' name is Brick.
I mean, like, what are you doing here?
I mean, what are we doing?
Exactly.
This game was.
I've never heard a good thing about him.
How about that in league circles?
Never heard, I haven't heard one good thing about them.
That stinks.
It sucks. I feel for you, Jets fans, but hey, you got a loss.
You're with four wins, get a good draft pick and see where this thing can go.
The Rams, let's start there with the winning L.A. Rams now in first place in the NFC West, mind
you. So they're staring down a playoff spot.
Kyron Williams, 23 carries, 122, and a score, John, average 5.3 yards.
A carry did Kyron also caught a pass on the day.
So when he's foundational for the Rams, it's kind of like it keeps.
them on schedule a little bit and they don't have to be so, you know, dependent on Stafford's
arm and Cup and the Kua making all kinds of plays because literally their past game did
nothing today against the Jets. Yeah. Yeah, it's weird because, you know, they do seem to be
very schematically dependent. Some matchups they come out and they just can't be stopped
and some matchups they come out
and they just can't really do anything.
But, you know, also weird year with,
man, the injuries are lack thereof.
You know, like these guys,
I know Connor got hurt today,
but man, these guys have been pretty adorable
at running back like Carmen Williams, you know,
like, hey, I wasn't a believer,
but he keeps coming.
So good for him.
The Jets did a pretty good job on Puka, you know.
They had to just throw a bunch of bubble screens.
to him. But man, it's definitely
worried Tom about Cooper Cup, especially
now with Tyler Higby
back. Like, I feel now
after this one and last week,
if you advance with Cooper Cup, as
I did in the Fantasy Points Dynasty League,
of course I have no choice.
You may want to sit his ass down.
Next week, the Rams get the
Cardinals. So
I mean, again, it's going to mean
perfect conditions in a dome, so you're going to
have an opportunity for him. It's not bad.
It's not bad. Let's see what I wrote about.
because I like feeling.
Cardinals are a major slot funnel.
Okay, there you go.
We might give him one more shot next week, baby.
Cooper Cup.
He's going to just, every way, he shits the bat for the last two weeks.
And then all these teams are dead.
Cooper Cup next week, let's call it right now.
I'm going to say he goes 11 for 125 in a touchdown.
Well, he'll be in my stunning lineup in the fantasy points dynasty.
Because my alternative is like Jonathan Mingo, Jalen Tolbert.
Roman Wilson or Trey Palmer or Jermaine Burton.
Okay.
So welcome to my roster and lineup week 17 Cooper Cup,
aka the football nerd.
For the Jets,
Brice Hall,
a whole lot of nothing happening on the ground.
There's just not much happening for the Jets in general outside of Devante Adams.
He gets force fed 13 targets,
catches seven for 68 and a score.
After the game,
Garrett Wilson was asked about his role and the targets
and actually his first offensive coordinator,
I remember in his rookie year, he had LaFleur's brother.
And he was like, oh, I love that guy.
He's like, I think I took for granted that rookie year.
It's like basically like, I don't know if I'll ever get back to that level.
So we'll see what happens going forward with the Jets here.
But you just, hey, you keep rolling out Adams.
You keep rolling out Wilson, hope for the best.
But what a disappointing year for Brise Hall.
Oh, it's just a disaster.
Yeah.
And he, you know, he seemingly dominated all the snap.
I saw Davis out there a bit.
Devante Adams, by the way,
I lost a freaking prop with him by like three, four yards.
But yeah, Rogers out there, stat padding with these guys.
And, you know, Conklin out of nowhere all of a sudden a factor.
But, you know, ugly year by Bruce Brissall.
Get Nate Hackett the F out of here.
Goodbye, Nate Hackett.
Go away.
Don't ever come back.
Go to the CFL.
do anything but this. Find another job. Please go, go. Leave. Make like a tree and leave.
Yeah, leave during this commercial breakday. Don't even listen to the rest of the podcast.
On the other side, we're going to talk about the Eagles just crumbling in Landover against the commanders.
Jalen Hertz leaves with a concussion. We'll talk about that and all the implications of that injury going forward.
It's the Fantasy Points podcast.

We'd love to talk business. All right guys, this is where my attention
was focused for most of the day.
Philly goes down to the commanders.
Actually lose. They get walked off by Jaden Daniels,
one of his five touchdown passes on the day as the commanders win 36, 33 over Philadelphia
to improve to 10 and 5.
Two touchdown passes for Olomidi Zakias, a little revenge game.
Remember, he was an eagle last year, John, and your guy, you got to say it.
You've got to say his name who got two other touchdowns today.
That would be Jamison Crowled.
Crowder two for 15. Both are touchdowns against the birds.
Terry McLaren also scores a touchdown.
I knew McLaren. We said that on the show.
There's no way they were going to keep McLaren down again.
He gets 60 yards and a score in this game.
But before we get over to the bird side of it, the Eagles shut down Brian Robinson,
10 for 24 on the ground, a couple of fumbles.
But the story was Jaden Daniels, ran for 81 yards.
anytime, John, that there was a third or fourth down and they needed to move the sticks.
He looked like a young, I want to say Lamar.
Remember Russell Wilson was actually good?
And he always converted those third downs.
That's what Jane Daniels look like today.
Better than all of them.
All of them.
I mean, he is a superstar.
Absolutely.
It is crystal clear.
Only going to get better.
My only concern with them was that size.
And will he hold him.
up but you know we did have that little speed bump there but man i wish i wasn't as concerned because
man is he good and and we knew we knew there was a lot to like with the processing which was
rare for for young athletic quarterbacks like him so very deserving of the heisman last year and
he is a superstar he is um he is not permanently but like he he he he he he he
He is a guy like, welcome to the top five in the fantasy quarterback rankings for the next decade plus.
Welcome, Jaden Daniels.
I was just going to ask you next year because maybe there's people they're already looking for for next seasons.
Where does Jaden Daniels start to come off the board next year?
I mean, right now he's behind Burrough.
He's behind Baker Mayfield.
I got a feeling Baker Mayfield is not going to get drafted before Jaden Daniels in fantasy drafts next year.
It'll be a round before Lamar did this year.
So second, third round pick.
There you go.
Second third round.
Third round pick.
Third round pick.
Well, for Philadelphia, if you didn't watch this game, Philadelphia was in command.
They were up 21 to 7 at one point.
But the story of this game, Jalen Hertz gets knocked out.
He runs and slides, very innocuous kind of hit.
They go, Jalen, you got to go get checked.
He's like, what are you talking about?
I'm fine.
It wasn't a hard hit or anything.
It's just, you know, you got tackled.
The head kind of just hit the ground, and he leaves the sideby,
and he gets his helmet back on like he's going to come into the game.
And they're like, no, no, no, wait, you got to go into the locker room.
They end up ruling them out.
So it's the Kenny Pickett show all day.
And listen, Kenny Pickett's a backup quarterback.
He didn't play that poorly.
He did throw a touchdown pass to A.J. Brown early in the game.
But what killed the Eagles was they had to settle for four Jake Elliott field goals
instead of punching the ball into the end zone.
And it was a skinny Batman drop with two minutes to go
that not only guru cost you a prop,
it costs Philadelphia the game.
Oh, man, it really, yeah, that really hurt me.
Because without, you know, if he doesn't drop that
and I get like just a couple more yards on another one,
you know, I'm like, I'm looking at like 16 and 2 on props this week.
But a great week as it was.
but that one there hurt hurt because you know it was so easy it was too easy uh but hey you know new
quarterback i mean it's hard to say i lament losing a prop on it in on a receiver whose quarterback
missed most of the game you know the starting quarterback i didn't i didn't place the bet or
play it thinking it would be freaking kenny picket um but man barkley continues to chug along
but part of the the frustration is like i won't with the prop because it was a very low number
54 but I'm like no one else is doing crap and no one else did crap I mean it's remarkable outside of
brown and skinny Batman we had ken gainwell caught one ball for six and they scored 33 points
that's incredible yeah it is incredible because washington turned the ball over five times
and still won the game I mean geez louise that happened one time earlier this year I think
how Houston turned the ball over.
Was it Houston?
Who turned the ball over five times and still won?
Or Detroit, maybe.
Yeah, it sounds right.
And Sequin, not to stick with this game for too long, but, listen,
Sequin had a monster game.
If he started him, I'm sure he helped you advance.
He would have had 300 yards rushing today if Jalen Hertz didn't get hurt.
They couldn't stop him.
But yeah, crushing loss for those of you out there with Jalen Hertz.
This is kind of like a routine now, three years in a row with Jailen Hertz in the fantasy.
playoffs, I think, where he's either gotten hurt in the playoffs.
Remember, Garter Minchew had to play a couple games two years ago.
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
Boy, boy. This will be three out of four if he misses this week. It'll be three out of four
years. He's been down for the playoffs. Next week, the Cowboys come to Lincoln Financial Field to
take on the Eagles. Eagles final two games are in Philadelphia. They just have to win one to
clinch the division. All right, moving on, talking about your Minnesota Vikings. How about
these Vikings, baby? They control their own destiny for the number one overall seat in the NFC,
27, 24 win over the Seahawks today, improving to 13 and 2, Johnny. And it was all on the back
of your boy, Justin Jefferson, 13 targets, 10 for 144 and 2. Got another Addison touchdown just
for good measure. So a nice day for Sammy Darnold, 246 and three for the now, like I said,
13 and two Minnesota Vikings. Yeah, was very high on Darnold Jefferson. The one thing was
Hawkinson. I thought would have a big game. It wasn't to be. That happens. Addison is pretty
much kind of won't be denied at this point. But, you know, Donald doesn't throw a pick.
I wrote this morning that it looks like a typical 240 slash 2, at least for Donald. And he got
246 slash 3. Didn't do much on the ground, but playing at a pretty good level. JJ's been
freaking tremendous. I mean, it's so great. I look, not that I was against them or really pounded the table,
to take them but I wasn't I was not pushing it at all but greatness great's going to be great and
Jefferson I've stated it is the bike is the best receiver to ever play for the Vikings he's better
than Randy Moss already in my opinion and hey say what you want I mean I know it's uh everyone's got
opinions but I feel like I'm pretty educated I mean I've covered this league for my profession
for 30 years and I've been a long-suffering Vikings fan.
I met Ahmad Rashad.
You know what I mean?
Like, of course, I've been denied an interview by Randy Moss,
so I'm a little bitter on that.
But no, seriously, I've seen Randy Moss get shut down multiple times.
Like, you know, Jefferson will get shut down.
It'll happen.
But multiple times, nah.
In big spots, nah, not going to happen.
The only buzzkill for the Vikings.
was Aaron Jones, 67 yards, no touchdowns.
He did get you three catches, so a couple of cheapies there.
This game, John, only saw five third downs converted between the two teams.
That's incredible.
I know I mentioned before how the Vikings were struggling to convert third downs,
and they were really good a week ago.
But this is troubling again for me as you guys head into the playoffs,
is how poor this team is on third down, three of 12 today against Seattle.
For Seattle, Kenwell, they've had some, you know, they've had those, you know, they're down their left tackle.
Yeah.
You know, that doesn't help.
It's tough.
Did I know last week, too, uh, let's the other guy.
That the hell's his name.
O'Neill.
And he was banged up too.
Yeah, but I mean, he, he, uh, he played, right?
I think he played this week.
Yeah, he played because I don't remember.
Either that or I missed it on the damn injury report.
Well, you know, somebody who lives on the injury report.
report. I think you coined the term. He gets his mail forwarded to it.
Like Ken Walker. Eight for 31 today. Just brutal. I know I had to throw him in a lineup.
So Charbonnet, forget about it. You can't play him. Walker does a whole lot of nothing for you on the ground. But he does, John, catch eight passes for 20 yards.
Brian O'Neill, he did play. Sorry about that. Okay. All right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So Ken Walker comes through as a receiver for you.
get you a ton of cheap points.
But you mentioned in your article today,
the Vikings lead the league in two high looks,
and JSN averages 40.2% more fantasy points per route,
run against that look over the past two seasons.
What do you know?
Jackson Smith and Jigba sees 12 targets,
catches eight for 95 in a touchdown.
Yeah, I had him as a prop for his yardage, which hit.
But I also had a gut feeling on DK for a touchdown,
which hit at plus.
205. So pretty good day there at the office. And the backfield was a quagmire, though,
because we were presuming that Charbonnet had, you know, carved out a roll and would stay
involved. And he really didn't until late in the game. So it was the Ken Walker show. So I guess
lesson learned. But he's volatile as hell. I don't think I'm ever going to back Ken Walker again.
Ken Walker is too good to be true. Yeah, he really is. You know what next?
year he's going to be James
Connor next year. He'll never get hurt until
the end when we actually desperately need
him. All right.
We're banging through these games here.
This was a lot closer
than it probably should have been. Buffalo
with a 24-21 win
over to Patriots and the Patriots
had a 14-zip lead
in Orchard Park, Johnny.
Kishon Booty with a touchdown
and then our guy, Ramandre
with a 14-yard touchdown run
button. It was just too much buff
Joe, James Cook, 100 yards rushing on the day.
Josh Allen just willing this team to victory on a day where the passing attack did absolutely nothing.
Wow.
Yeah.
And I played a James Cook rushing prop that hit.
And I avoided all bills in the passing game just, just on a feel that like it wasn't happening.
Now, of course, luck is the residue of design because I was correct.
but not exactly for the same reason.
They just had a bad day.
I thought they would not need to have to do much, basically,
and sit on the ball a little bit, which was not the case.
But, of course, James Cook popped off that 46-yarder and all that.
We also scored.
I'm like, wow, we were taking questions a week or two ago, like on our live stream.
Like, oh, James Cook, I'm like, guys, just start James Cook.
I mean, the numbers are going to be in at the end of the year.
This is going to score like 17 times.
touchdowns. I mean, it's unbelievable how great he's been. And by the way,
Ramandre looked awesome. He really did. Um, booty. Hey, give him credit. These tight ends drive
you nuts. I mean, Henry scored great. Good for him. May had a nice day. Great. But man,
it is a little scary. Um, they spread that damn ball around Hooper's got to get the ball,
apparently. Yeah, it's for the, you know, next year you're going to have Travis Hunter. We'll see if he plays
the offense for you. But this was a tight game. The bills had to have a fumble recovery in the end
zone. So they got, you know, a touchdown that way. But the Patriots gave them all they could handle
today. But again, you're not really rolling out any of these Patriots. All right. Let's take one more
time out here. And when we come back, we can close up shot final two games. I'm telling you,
John, this next game should have been the punishment for whoever came in last place in your fantasy
league. They should have been strapped to a chair and been forced to watch it. We'll talk about
about it next. It's the Fantasy Points podcast. Well, we're contractually obligated to talk about the
entire Sunday slate guru. So we're going to talk about the Raiders 1914 win over Jacksonville.
And geez, this game was kind of brutal. Outside of really two guys. And it's Brian Thomas Jr.
who went bananas, nine for 132 in a score. And Brock Bowers, who went over 1,000 yards on the
season. Eleven receptions for 99 yards today. Otherwise, burn the
tape on this game man Brian Thomas unbelievable played his prop as well was one of my top
five props wasn't looking great and then boom 62 yarder unbelievable run here hey shout out
Parker Washington looked all right he kind of usurped a Britain strange yeah that sunk I
told a ton of people to play strange yeah yeah I it was a little bit of a mixed bag with him
because yeah it was a good matchup probably should get targeted but he's not great against man
uh so-so i wrote good bad to get five catches if the shoulder holds up which apparently it did
but he only got two so that was i mean it was all brian thomas um liked bowers i played an abdulla prop
uh over the receiving that hit the very good day on props um but yeah nothing else here
of note, Alexander. I actually speculated
Madison would score for what it's
worth in the article.
But yeah, not a lot
of action here.
If you're totally desperate,
folks, I do submit
to Amir Abdullah. He has
back-to-back 19 point
weeks, 19 and a half point weeks, really,
where he's scoring touchdowns
and he's catching a ton of passes.
You know, he's caught
five this week. He caught
seven a week ago.
next week they play against the Saints,
just throwing it out there.
Maybe it's more of a DFS play,
but they are using the kid.
Yeah.
Finally,
the Miami Dolphins,
2917 winners over the San Francisco 49ers.
49ers really just kind of playing out the string here.
They are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.
And nice to see Devon A. Chan.
They couldn't run the ball at all in Miami.
He said,
the hell what that,
I'm going to show you what I can do.
7.1 yards of carry.
He goes for 120 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Catches another six balls for 70.
Really impressive day for A-Chane.
Yeah, yeah, it was very surprising.
Even most showed a little bit here,
much to the chagrin of those who had Tua,
who had an underwhelming day.
I mean, Tyreeks scored, but geez,
I mean, Tyreeks scored and kind of came up small
as Malik Washington seems to be coming on.
Johnny who I did play a prop for Johnu over that hit.
On the other side, my number one prop of the whole week was George Kittle over that hit.
So thank you, George.
Debo, I guess I was a week early on Debo because he kind of looked back this week.
He kind of looked back today.
Seven for 96 as a receiver with a touchdown.
They also gave him five carries for 25 yards.
The big buzzkill here was Patrick Taylor.
I know I flexed him out in a cross.
couple of leagues thinking he was going to get the lead role and I guess it is the lead role but
he only had eight harries today for 24 yards yeah and uh that was the uh i played uh brock purdy over
two touchdown passes which he got two or more and my thought was they're going to sling it and
they did well granted they were playing from behind uh 40 40 attempts i didn't love jennings you know
he was all right four for 51
but I thought it would be a big kiddle day and it was so feel pretty good about that
HN will probably be a first round pick next year I think late first
yeah I know I took him a couple of leagues this year I got him right on that one two turn I
like getting my hands on him and you know we'll see what they do in that backfield if
you know remember they drafted the kid out of Tennessee the bigger running back and then
who knows if they bring back Tyree
and what they do with this team.
It seems to me like the dolphins have to kind of rework something
because it's a lot of,
it's all flash and sizzle,
but there's no substance.
You know what I mean?
When it gets down to brass tacks,
like they just can't compete.
It seems like they're kind of always in this limbo.
Yeah.
True.
And for the 49ers,
they're dead.
They'll play.
Do you worry about teams like the 49ers for fantasy
when you get into the,
you know,
a week like next week,
they're going to play Monday night at home against the lions.
Now, they're dead.
They have nothing to play for, but this is a prideful group,
and they got the Lions coming to town.
I mean, this is their Super Bowl next week.
Hey, I've been fortunate enough to have interacted with Sean,
with Kyle Shanahan 15 times.
That man is very serious about his business.
He is not messing around here.
So you're going to go get your mail forwarded to Chateau Bow Wow in terms of Shanahan's doghouse if you milk it.
So no, they'll play hard and it helps on national TV.
Every situation is different, though.
You asked me about the Niners on national TV in a meaningless week 16, 17 game.
I'm good with it.
But are we talking the Cardinals on a Thursday night.
stinker when they're dead in the water in the dirt. Yeah, that's a problem.
Next week, all sorts of random games. We've got two on Christmas Day, Chiefs and Steelers,
and then at 430, you get Ravens Texans. So basically the four teams that played on Saturday
this week, just swap opponents. Then you've got, of course, the Thursday nighter, Seahawks, Bears.
then you've got a Saturday triple header highlighted by, you know,
I guess you could say Broncos Bengals at 430.
Then you get into the Sunday slate.
So we'll have a nice and easy one on Sunday, John.
There's only, what, 10 games next Sunday for us.
Yeah, well, Merry Christmas to everybody.
Happy holidays.
Thanks for listening to the podcast all year.
Give us a good comment.
Throw us a bone.
That always helps.
But, you know, this has been the most I've ever
committed to podcasting in my entire life.
So hopefully it's gone well for the people out there on the other end.
We hope so.
We'll be back here.
Previewing Week 17 Fantasy Championship game.
So thankful for you guys to be with us.
Happy holidays from The Guru.
I'm Brian Drake.
We'll see you next time for the Fantasy Points Podcast.
