Scott and I are helping you win your leagues every single day here on the Fantasy Points YouTube
channel.
Scott, week one actually officially in the books minus Monday night football, but the bulk of the work has been done.
How are you today, sir?
I'm doing good.
Happy to be here, excited to talk football with you.
Yeah, always excited to talk football.
We got real live bullets flying now.
It's a little easier to discuss than the off-season show.
So this is exciting for me.
Well, we're going to dive.
This is our first waiver wire episode of the season, really.
I know we did like a little pre-pree.
show last week, but for those that maybe new to fantasy football, maybe like myself, for example,
what kinds of players are you looking to drop? Like Colson Loveland was an absolute dud, Scott,
are we dropping Colston Loveland? Probably not, right? So can you break that down for the audience?
What's the strategy here overall? Yeah, so definitely don't overreact. We said this on yesterday's show.
Typically, from a week in week one, even week two, week three, you want to be underreacting.
It's almost always a mistake to overreact.
You said it.
You said week one is frequently a liar.
That was certainly the case last year.
A lot of people dropped the Exodia quarterback Drake May after he had a bad game against the Raiders.
That was a mistake.
Or maybe they tried to trade for Keon Coleman, who had a top three week.
Listen, you have to be wary of small samples.
But it feels massive because, you know, it's 100% of our sample right now.
but really at the end of the day, it's just one out of 17 games.
And so, yeah, don't drop Colston Loveland, don't drop A.J. Brown.
Don't even drop a Josh Downs or a Malik Willis.
You really want to be anchored to our rest of season rankings.
I think Adam Harstead had a great article on this that said, you know, your rankings,
projections coming into the season should still hold more weight than the current season until
about like week six, week seven, week eight. So yeah, don't overreact. And yeah, don't, don't drop your studs.
Certainly not for, you know, what's really like not an amazing, you know, waiver wire week, honestly.
Like I don't really know that there's anyone I want to burn a top three waiver claim on or I want to bid more than 20% in fab.
That's good. That's one of the next questions I was going to ask you actually. So like how we're going to get through the names.
The names will be the names.
We'll talk about them.
We'll break them down.
But how aggressive should you be?
Yeah, we're going to tear it out.
Yeah, we're going to give you confidence levels.
So right off the top, though, you're saying no more than 20% fad.
There's not a top three waiver claim guy available this week.
You just want to be a little bit more patient and see what we get next week and the weeks after.
Yeah.
Sounds good.
All right.
Let's dive right in.
Let's hit quarterbacks first.
start with I guess a guy we kind of debated a little bit last night he was the subject of our show last week at times Tyler Shuck who was a Joe Dolan start this week Joe Dolan hits on that take he's available in what 40% of leagues is that what I'm seeing he's available in 60% of leagues he's rostered in 40% of leagues what are your thoughts on Tyler Shuck yeah so I would put him in the A tier
because just looking at what he has done over his last seven games,
he's hit at least 17 fantasy points in all of them.
He averages 20.8 fantasy points per game over that span.
I know he didn't look great yesterday,
but at least up until the fourth quarter in garbage time,
but he had over 400 passing yards and three touchdowns,
and that's basically the Kellyn Moore scam.
It's not the world's best defense.
It's going to be the offense that leaves the league in pace of play.
So there's a realistic chance they lead in dropbacks.
Tyler Shuck runs a little bit.
He scores rushing touchdowns.
And yeah, when they're trailing, they're content to just abandon the run.
And so, you know, with the quarterback position, efficiency tend to matters more than volume.
But, you know, volume is still important.
And I think Tyler Shuck has that in spades.
And, yeah, again, he's been on a hot little run here.
seven straight games of at least 17 fantasy points,
and he scored 25.2 last week.
Yeah, for Shuck, for me, it's like,
it doesn't matter if he looked good or bad yesterday.
He put up a ton of fantasy points for fantasy,
that's all that matters.
The fact that he gets to play with the most pace aggressive coordinator in the league,
or play caller, I should say, not coordinator.
Most pace aggressive play caller in the league is huge for him, I think.
He's going to have a high volume of plays every week,
even if the efficiency isn't great week to week.
the volume should be there.
This offense is going to run an absolute ton of plays.
They were number one in the league in pace last year.
I think he was fourth or third in the league,
his final year with the Eagles.
He's always been top five.
So Tyler Shuck, where are you tiering him out here?
Yeah, again, I'd put him in the A tier,
particularly if you need a quarterback,
if you drafted Kyler Murray and he went down,
you might not play week two,
or if you have Malik Willis and you're a little worried, I was wrong.
The first time and a long time, Exodia quarterback was a whiff.
Should have been Jackson Dart.
Yeah, so I think I would put Tyler Shuck pretty confidently in the A tier.
I'm not willing to say Malik Willis is a whiff, by the way.
No, of course not.
We want to underreact to week one.
But even to your point, even like if you drafted Drake May,
who could be off to a slower start with the schedule they have.
He's got to go to Pittsburgh.
He's got, or they host Pittsburgh.
Then they're on the road in Jacksonville.
Then they're on the road in Buffalo.
These are good teams.
So like Drake could get off to a slow start.
Tyler Shuck would be a nice quarterback to add just so you have options.
Just so you have options.
All right, Malik Willis.
Speaking of Exodia, Malik Willis is is available in 60% of leagues.
Only owned in 40, despite the, uh, QB, Exodia status.
not your favorite out in week one but you still have them on the the waiver wire list here yeah so this
is maybe a hot take i i'd keep him in the eight tier especially for what it would cost to acquire him
it's possible you didn't draft him and now he's going to get dropped and you can you can pick him up
very cheaply uh make no mistake about it this was an awful really disheartening discouraging week
one only 15 completions only 39 rushing yards he took five sacks
He looked like the shitty shittiest version of Justin Fields.
The one bright side here is like, I think it's an easy fix.
It's just he needs way more design runs. He only had one in week one.
Five of six were scrambles. This is a guy who should have at least five design runs per game.
And this is what really fixed Justin Fields in his exodias season.
First four weeks of the season, he was averaging like 12 fantasy points per game.
and he looked awful.
I took a lot of heat for that.
And then week five on, that's when they went,
okay, this isn't working.
Listen, you're not a Joe Burrow.
You know, we need you running.
So they jacked up the design runs.
And from that point on, he was averaging, you know,
he was keeping pace with Josh Allen,
averaging 25 plus fantasy points per game.
And with a freaky athlete like Malik Willis,
I mean a better runner than Justin Fields and like probably better passer too.
They just need to jack that up.
Yeah, I've, and they will.
I'm not exaggerating.
I've already texted coaches on the staff asking about the design QB run thing,
just looking for an answer mostly and then hopefully can.
Can you break news?
No, I can't leave you on red?
As of right now, I've been left on red.
Yep.
Okay.
Well, we'll see.
We'll update you guys on the Wednesday show.
I will say I like Malik Willis's self-awareness after the game,
saying all the right things.
He said the five sacks are on me, sacks are QB stat.
I got to get the ball out quicker.
I love that about him.
Dude, he knows ball.
Kurt Warner doesn't even know that sacks are a QB.
That's crazy.
Hall of Fame QB.
Super Bowl winning QB.
Kurt Warner doesn't know
sacks are QB stat,
but Malik Willis somehow does.
So that's great.
Jacoby percent,
he's available in 93% of leagues.
And Scott,
I got a hot take for you.
I thought he looked really good.
Yeah.
I thought he actually looked really good.
This dude is balling right.
now he was balling last year in these garbage time you know game scripts i just love the dude's
willingness just to run the offense forced the ball down field too when he needs to it's just like
it's just so it's so fantasy friendly even though he's not the most talented guy in the world it's
such a fantasy friendly skill set and in approach to the position i yeah i like this break it down well he's
b tier yeah sure because he exists that's why malique willis is a tier why i still want to be
you know, chasing upside. But I'm with you. I really like Jacoby Rosset. I think he's awesome.
A big concern that Ryan Heath and I had was, well, the Cardinals were just the most past
heavy offense of the past half decade by a mile. You know, it's hard to imagine Mike LaFleurr is going
to be not a serious downgrade off of what Drew Petzig did last year with the past heavy scam.
But we dug into it and we were like, actually,
actually, this might be the perfect, you know, replacement for that.
One of my all-time favorite stats was if you removed the Zach Wilson games when, when Mike LaFleur was the OC there,
the Jets actually led the league in passing yards per game or passing yards per non-Zack Wilson start with like Mike White.
And they went super pass-heavy, really high pace of play.
And so Jacoby Brissette, you know, QB15 finish.
But let's not forget what he did last year.
He finished QB1 in 11 of his last 12 starts to close out the year.
That's a crazy stat.
No one else came close to that.
Finished as a QB1 or the QB1, just so I hear you right.
Top 12 at the position in 11 of his last 12 starts.
So crazy high floor from Jacoby Reset.
And then from a DFS perspective, yeah, this like I'm going to be having Jacoby Reset exposure.
He finished second in completions last week.
And, you know, from when he was named the starter on, I think he led all quarterbacks
and completions by like 40.
So, yeah, you have this great stable of pass catchers, Trey McBride, Michael Wilson,
Marvin Harrison, Jr., I think, in that order, hot take.
And, yeah, so, you know, good weapons around him, a lot of negative game script,
coach who with a high pace of play, likes to go pass heavy.
not a ton of upside but
certainly very high floor so if you need a spot start
B tier Jacoby percent he unfortunately has to play Seattle this week
but how did he do against Seattle last year I didn't I didn't even bother to look it up
I probably should have um I assume everyone sucked against Seattle right
exactly I mean yeah so maybe he's a C tier just because he's probably free next week
yeah exactly for those and then even those picking him
this week probably dropping him after next week so yeah good car last qb on the list uh Bryce
young he's available in 86% of leagues this guy eclips 200 passing yards just three times last year yet
dropped haymaker after haymaker on the bears basically was going blow for blow with the bears until
really the fourth quarter where it just got completely out of hand but what do you have 370 yards
or something like a ridiculous game for Bryce young is it sustainable I don't know but
where are you at on him?
I get a phone call from Theo Greminger just maybe an hour ago.
And this is one of his hot takes is he is heavy in on Bryce Young.
When he does his FFPC waivers this week, he is loading up on Bryce Young.
His argument was, you know, these guys we write off at the quarterback position who are drafted high,
you know, have this resurgence that takes us by surprise, whether it's Daniel Jones or it's Baker Mayfield or it's Sam
Darnold and Bryce Young is next.
You know,
apologies to Theo.
I disagree.
I'm going to put him deep here.
Bryce.
So he had 361 passing yards for context.
He had only three games over 206 passing yards all of last year.
I really think this tells us more than anything that the Bears defense is awful.
But what's interesting about Bryce Young,
particularly from a DFS perspective,
is he is the definition of a boot.
bust fantasy quarterback.
I just told you Jacoby Brissette,
QB won 11 of his last 12 starts to close out last year.
Bryce Yom, QB1 in only six of his last 22 games.
But he finished top five in 100% of those six games
with finishes of first, second, second, third, fourth, and fifth.
So he's, he's boom or bust.
You know, he either gives you nothing.
or he has an awesome game.
But yeah, I'm not willing to buy into this.
You can't fix height, right, right, Brett?
You can't, you cannot fix height.
Also, we can live, there's going to naturally just be this tension of
Bryce Young might not be a terrible quarterback,
but he also might not be fantasy relevant or viable week over week.
I think those two, like he could be emerging as a guy who deserves his job,
but while also not being fantasy relevant.
That's something that can be true.
So I think we're, I'm very,
comfortable living in that tension. I'm going to say
deep here on Bryce Young as well.
Running backs. Let's hit the running backs.
Start with Killan Black. I know it feels like
17 years ago since the 49ers played the Rams in Australia.
But I think everyone is a little shocked
at Kalon Black's workload.
He, I mean, CMC, just there wasn't the same
bell cow share we've seen from CMC over the years.
Was this a travel related thing? Was it the
ankle or Achilles stiffness?
seems he had been going through in camp and it's just something that's going to be fleeting or are you
buying in heavy on klon black here well what do you think where do you think i'm going to put him
i think you're going to put him i think you're going to put him eight here i think for this week
he's he might be s he's either s or a and like let me be clear i do not buy into the usage he got
in week one which was excellent he had a team high 14 carries that was more than christian mcalfrey had a
44% snap share.
Most surprisingly, 31% route share.
That's very good.
So this appears to be, at a bare minimum, the clear RB2,
the clear handcuffed to one of the most injury prone quarter running backs.
And he might have standalone value.
Like if this sticks and you're desperate for, you know,
just guaranteed points from your RB2 because you have a bunch of guys on by or they're hurt,
or you drafted Josh Jacobs.
There is utility in that.
I kind of don't think that part's real.
I think it was just CMC dealing with cramps.
It was the fourth preseason week, not week one.
He traveled all the way to Australia.
He missed some practice time.
CMC is like the Uber Belkow who just like he puts defenses in such a fit
with his mere presence on the field that if the game's ever competitive,
you don't ever want to take him off.
Although I buy that maybe the 49ers want.
a second running back more involved in the past, but you're talking about CMC with his,
you know, league leading, you know, 85% snapshot every week.
But regardless, it's still like, that's super valuable.
That handcuff role, the contingent upside roll. We've seen it before from Elijah Mitchell,
from Jordan Mason, from Isaac Garendo. So in a relatively weak, week one waiver wire,
I'm going to put Kalin Black in the S tier. If you have like the fourth or fifth or sixth, you know,
waiver wire priority this is who you're probably chasing if you're needy at running back and you
have the first second or third you can you can target kaelm black i think that's fine so s tier for
me on black i like it um moving on actually let me ask you a question about this in roster
how like are you willing to roster other backups to bell cows that maybe didn't get a lot of action
like let's talk about sione vaki bonus bonus answer here like
Are you willing to roster a guy like that in a standard 12 team league that has 14 or 15 roster spots where it's like,
Jamir Gibbs got 34 carry or 34 touches.
Cioni Vaki, though, played 20 something snaps in that game.
He didn't get a lot of touches, but he played a lot.
And if Gibbs goes down, he's the clear RB2.
They made that very clear yesterday.
Yeah.
So this time of the year, I kind of don't want to be stockpiling handcuffs unless perhaps I went very zero RB.
Instead, I'd rather be like churning through.
you know, guys who can immediately show me they're a thing.
But then, yeah, week five, week six, that's when I want to hoard all the handcuffs.
And like, that's a big thing is there's like people think there's, you know, a major edge in
handcuffs like, oh, you know, Tank Bigsby, Ray Davis.
There's really not that much of a difference between them and a Cohn Vaki where, yeah,
it's just that the starter goes down.
They're going to be somewhere between a low end RB1 to a mid-range.
RV2 just on raw volume. And so and so yeah, like that's that's what I do it like this time of the
year. You know, I'm not going out to make sure I roster a Cohn Vaki unless it's a very deep league.
Cool. Keat Mitchell next up, another kind of handcuffy plus guy. He's, he has a role in the offense
for sure. But a very different change of pace kind of style to a bruising Amari and Hampton.
I mean, you know my thoughts on Hampton. So I'll just like that.
let you cook here on Keaton Mitchell.
Yeah, so I
probably would have put him C tier just based on the usage we saw,
which was 31% snaps share,
only four of 16 carries.
He did run one more route than Omerian Hampton,
but I'm actually going to put him B tier
just because of how pessimistic you were on
Omerian Hampton's fit in this offense,
where it's like, yeah,
maybe Keaton Mitchell has some like,
Devon A-chan light upside or Rahim Moster sort of upside where like there's a real there's real
value to this RB2 and sure we didn't see it week one but this could have been you know one of the
worst games the Chargers have played all year and so yeah it's it's there's some standalone
value I kind of don't buy into a ton of handcuff upside for him he's just like a small guy who
you know I think he's only played more than 15 snaps once in his career something like
that's a grand bar feel sad i have to double check what it actually is but yeah i just question
that he could be like i think it's i think of hampton you know it's screwed we're we're putting
him back in the c tier because i think if hampton goes down by now leads the league and touches so
he's kind of always going to be this rb2 where the the upside is capped that is that's a great call
i do think people get carried away sometimes with the the running back who's playing the second most
when the starter's healthy.
I don't think if Hampton went down,
it would just be Keith Mitchell all of a sudden.
I do think Kamani Vidal would be the main guy.
Mitchell is the change of pace option.
It's just a different role in the offense, right?
So maybe he'd get a small uptick, of course,
but it's not going to be a belkout kind of thing.
So Jonah Coleman, he hasn't played yet.
He plays tonight.
We're recording this Monday after him.
We're flying and blind, baby.
Flying and blinds.
But, you know, I think we're both pretty high on him.
And Sean Payton has a history of totally spoiling backfields that seem clear, right?
With J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey, does Jonah Coleman now come in?
He's still available in 67% of leagues despite the fact that he was getting a ton of preseason hype.
Where are you at on Coleman?
Yeah, I think he's got to be B tier.
We're flying and blind.
I said all handcuffs are kind of the same.
But in this instance, it's a guy who I think has a chance to win on talent alone.
was one of my favorite players in the entire class.
I loved his analytics profile.
I saw a super underrated potential bell cow.
Shout out to the Denver Broncos analytics department.
They always draft my guys.
And this might be the first time it actually works out.
And then even if that's wrong,
it's well, J.K. Dobbins is the most injury prone
running back of all time.
RJ Harvey looked awful last year.
It's a top three offensive line.
It's top three game script.
It's top three starting field position.
It's a ton of red zone drives.
There's just so much to like here.
Only rostered in 33% of leagues.
I'm going to put him, what, B tier?
What do you think that?
I would even say A.
I was drafting this guy.
Right, right.
Yeah, so I'd say A.
Yeah, I guess it depends on your league 10 team.
He's probably B or C and a 12 team deep A.
But we can leave him B tier for now.
Okay. B tier is fine.
Alvin Kamara,
rostered in just 24% of leagues.
So he's available in 76% of leagues.
I know why he's on the list, right?
We just saw Kendry Miller split the running opportunities
with Travis A-chan right in half.
They each got nine carries.
Kendry Miller got inside the five touches as well.
Got the touchdown because of that,
which to me,
what it signals is,
they're not satisfied with Travis A-chan as the lead back.
And Alvin Kamara should be back next week or the week after.
So I see why he's on the list.
I don't know how I feel about it,
but I understand the thinking here.
Yeah,
I think he's D or F tier,
honestly.
I think he matters.
This is a name to keep in the back of your mind,
but it's,
that's a lot more to do with Travis Etienne being a bad pick,
I think,
than,
you know,
Alvin Kamara being a player to roster.
Yeah,
he's split the character.
he's with Kendrae Miller, which is awful.
The one thing he had going for him,
because he had nine targets, seven catches.
But it was a game Tyler Shuck dropback 63 times.
And yeah, and Kamara, like, if he's washed, okay, he probably is.
But, like, maybe the one thing he still has going for him is he's a great pass catcher.
And so there's a chance, you know, Etienne loses that too.
Graham and I, we did earlier this offseason, like worst picks.
and you can make in each round,
and we both, you know, went hard in the paint
talking about our disdain for Travis Etienne.
And I think that is right,
but that doesn't necessarily make Kamara a great pick
because if Etienne goes down,
yeah, I think you see another gross committee
with a potentially washed Alvin Kamara and Kendrae Miller.
I'm trying to avoid the YouTube Karens
and you're over here calling him by his name.
That's not his.
Come on.
It's stolen valor.
Like, why are you stealing Devon Achan's name
just to make yourself sound.
Ooh, I like that.
I like that.
No, we have,
we have one person who's always commenting.
The,
the most basic form of human dignity.
Yeah, Brett Barrettfield.
Yeah, Brett Barrettfield.
But they're always like,
if you,
the most basic form of human dignity
is the call a person by their name.
It's like,
his parents don't even agree with you.
His parents don't even agree with you.
Because his brother claims their name is Etienne,
not ancient.
So,
I don't,
anyways.
It's like,
you know,
your career is not going.
went too great. It's time for a rebrand. Actually, uh, my name is chosen Barrett.
Chosen Barrett. Meta World Whitefield.
Oh, that's too good. I'm calling you chose. I'm introducing you on the show as
Chosen Barrett from now on. That is too good. All right. We got one more running back to discuss
before we move on to the wide outs. Devin Singletary of your New York Giants. We saw Cam
Scataboo dominate on the ground.
on Sunday night football but devon singletary was getting spanned on some short area targets what's you
thinking about him yeah i'll put an F tier it's just i think if cam scataboo were to suffer an injury
i don't think singletary's role would change at all i think it would go to naji harris or maybe
tyrone tracy although he had a bad fumble and seems to be in the doghouse but even more than that is
i don't think this is a valuable role this this you know scat back role just because i think i think
I think the Giants kind of took it easy on.
Neighbors took it easy on Scataboo in their first game back after a devastating injury.
I think,
and I think Scadaboo is like a phenomenal pass catcher.
Like it's stupid to me if they stick with this.
He had a 0% target share Scatabu did,
but over his last five full games,
he had a 15.1% target share,
which is an elite mark.
And really like what I saw as something he deserved based on what he put on tape,
and in the box score stats in college.
So he's, if you look at our front office tool,
it shows you the top ads and drops.
I don't know if that was dynasty or redraft that we showed,
but Singletary was one of the highest,
highest added players on the loop.
Speaking of the front office tool,
I mean, if you want waiver wire help,
use the front office tool.
It's going to tell you exactly the moves you should be making
in your fantasy leads.
Yeah, and if you want to know who to drop,
our rest of season rankings
drop Tuesday morning
so you could look at it that way
and then you could use our waiver wire tool
in the front office to
like if you need a spot start
it sorts by
which players have the highest projection this week
don't forget we had the number one
most accurate projections last year
or if you want to know
who has the most long term
upside you could also sort by
or rest of season
rankings in the same tool.
I got a question on the Singletary thing.
And it's kind of a hypothetical,
and I hate doing hypotheticals with fantasy.
But if Tyrone Tracy was in that role,
would it be more valuable to you?
Yeah, yeah, just because there's a chance
Scataboo goes down and he gets 16 carries.
I'm just thinking back to the Baltimore Ravens offense last year.
And like was Justice Hill ever fantasy relevant?
Was Keaton Mitchell ever fantasy relevant in that?
that offense because that's ultimately what that role could be is that enough to roster a guy no no
okay i just wanted to be clear i mean you you would be rostering him in case of a derrick henry
injury but yeah i i if derrick henry went down i don't see those guys getting 22 carries
yeah individually all right let's uh blaze through some wide receivers here um let's start with jalen
Coker. He's only rostered in 61% of league, so he's available in 39%. He had a crazy game,
a career game this week against the Chicago Bears. You know, I do think some of the production
here in Carolina was game script dependent and defense specific, but Jalen Coker, you know, he's a good
player. I mean, I think he might be emerging as a legit number two there for them. So what do you
think about him. Yeah. So we really try and keep this to players who are available in 50% of leagues,
but if Jalen Coker's available in your league, I think he's the number one out of the week.
As for how real this is, after he just, what, led all wide receivers and fantasy points,
I would like to pick your brain a little bit more because for those who don't know, I'm the fantasy
guy, I'm the numbers guy, but Brett is like one of the best film experts in the game, but he
literally watched every snap from every game.
So he has more context to put behind the numbers than I do.
And so, yeah, this is like a real question that was happening in the fantasy streets.
Is Jalen Coker the surprise wide receiver one of the team?
Because, you know, over the last six weeks of the season, he was out targeting Tet
McMillan.
He was out producing Ted McMillan.
I want to say there's an important caveat there because Tet was dealing with his foot,
ankle injury throughout all of December, parts of November. So I don't think he was healthy.
That was my excuse for not really buying into this. I'm like, hey, there's not a ton of upside.
We just said Bryce Young had only three games over 207 passing yards. But look at what this guy
has done over his last eight games, 16 fantasy points per game, 2.3 yards for route run.
Those are incredible numbers. And so, Brett, you tell me, how real is this? This is a guy who
EPA per target is top 10 since the start of last season.
Elite numbers over his last eight was the overall wide receiver won this week.
One of the hottest names in fantasy right now.
What do you think?
I think he's a really good player, Scott.
I think like him as a prospect was interesting because I thought he had a lot of raw ability.
I remember debating him with Dbro a little bit.
But the route running was just really bad coming from a small school.
He wasn't really getting coached at a high level.
And my whole thing with Koker coming out was like, if he could just develop as a route runner a little bit, I actually think he'd have a role in the NFL.
Turns out he's developed a lot. The route running looks really good. He's not like a super high-end separator, but he's always where he needs to be.
And he's physical through the stem, you know, through the break, at the catch point. And he can, he can just be a flat out route and ball winner with his size and strength. So the thing that I actually thought was super positive about Koker is we've kind of been hearing he's going to be this power.
slot for them, Scott, he wasn't. I mean, it was like 60, 40 split out wide and slot. I think with
Bryce Young at quarterback, you don't want to be in the slot. I think those are, those are where you
lose targets because he can't see the middle of the field. You want him on the outside. You want him
in Tet as the primary guys on the outside with, you know, somebody just being a sacrificial slot
player in the Bryce Young offense. So I was really encouraged the fact that he ran 35 routes from
out wide. I think that's a really good sign for him this year. And it's, and it's, you
you know, extending kind of how he ended last year where Leggett did move more into the
slot. And they, you know, when they went 12 personnel, they did have a move tenant in the
slot. So I like what I saw. You know, they're not going to do this every week, obviously,
but he's definitely worth rostering 100%. We go in a tier? I think S tier.
S tier, okay. Well, I wasn't sure if we were caveating because he's only available in 39%
of leagues. But so, all right, cool. Matthew Golden, another one who's, who's owned.
Yeah, probably not available. He is, he is available in 24% of leagues.
owned in 76%,
but we saw the role and
the Packers are now,
they're finally done.
We hypothesize all offseason
that maybe this is the year
they're done with this nasty wide receiver rotation
and they were.
They pretty much played the three top dogs
the whole game.
Golden actually led the team in routes run.
So when they did go 13 personnel
or heavy personnel,
it was actually golden that stayed on the field,
not Christian Watson.
I think that's also a good sign.
Yeah, 87.
percent route share team i 30 percent target share had 95 receiving yards up against a tough defense
the packers did go more pass heavy um you know without josh jacobs uh so i'd put a mess tier again
and i'll let you pick between them who would you rather have jalen koker or matthew golden
probably golden i think the big playability but also just i think the consistency of the green
bay offense week over week it's just going to be you know more top notch than the carolina panthers
all right let's move on devon valet he's owned in just 7% of leagues which means he's available and
if you're listening to this there's a really good chance you can go get devon valet right now
and you know what's crazy about this guy is you kind of talked about this before the season started
you mentioned the quote from from uh kellen more about how his one regret from last season
was just not getting the ball to devon valet enough and we saw it a little bit this week
in a kind of a shootout, weird, come from behind, 21-0 game against the Lions,
where are you at on Velae?
Yeah, so this is like among the high stakes bros,
this is like the number one conversation topic of the week
is how much to spend on Devon Velae.
And he's still available in a number of these high stakes leagues,
certainly in your league or 93% of home leagues he's available.
He's on a nice little hot streak here over his last four games.
He averages 15.5 fantasy points per game.
He left one of those games early last week or week one.
He led the Saints in Route Share, 84%.
He tied for second in Target Share.
Shucks not going to have 400 yards every week, but this looks, and Jordan Tyson
could be back in the second half.
That's something I always want to be thinking about is, you know,
your roster's upside for the fantasy playoffs.
And so with that in mind, I'd put him, I don't know, B or C tier, B tier probably.
That's fair.
I just love that he played over 80 snaps in this game.
Yeah.
That's absurd to say, dude ran, what, 80-something routes?
I mean, just ridiculous.
So he's obviously clearly the wide receiver too, at least until Jordan Tyson gets back.
And then you got to assume Tyson's transition to the offense will be
close. So you'll get them as the number two for a little while longer than that even. So yeah,
I like Valey. I do, I've been kind of poor and cold. I don't want to rehash the same show we had
yesterday, but I think there's a little bit of Fools Gold and the Saints performance this week,
but, you know, I like the role nonetheless. All right, let's talk the trio of Miami Dolphins
receivers. They are all available across, you know, pretty much most platforms are, they're very
available. Caleb Douglas owned in just 12% of leagues. Chris Bell owned in just 9% of leagues. Malik
Washington owned in just 14% of leagues.
What are you thinking here? How do we sort this out? This is a little messy. It's kind of
been messy. Caleb Douglas obviously been was the top dog as far as production goes.
Is there anything else you're seeing other than that? Yeah, Caleb Douglas.
And again, like let's not forget, Malik Willis kind of sucked. And still Caleb Douglas,
the rookie who flashed in preseason, five catches and seven targets for 94 yards. That was the
most receiving yards in a debut since.
Puka Nakua. So that looks really encouraging.
Your guy Chris Bell, only a 51% route share with a 7.4% target share.
But I mean, that's really impressive given, you know, the initial injury timeline on him.
And the Dolphins got a major discount on him because of that injury.
You said he showed round one caliber tape.
Caleb Douglas certainly did not show that in college.
depends who you talk to, but yeah.
So maybe there's some long-term upside,
more long-term upside with Chris Bell.
But the guy I actually think we should prioritize
is Malik Washington,
who really impressed me.
He had a team high 97% route share,
so he was barely ever off the field.
He had a team high 30% target share.
And Brett, it's one thing if Malik Washington
was in the Juan Dale role with a negative A-dot,
he had a 16.0 average depth of target.
So for a guy you had 115 catches, his final year of college, I see quite a bit of
upside here.
And so, you know, if we're talking about FFPC, I think he's an A tier, but, you know,
we're probably not, you know, probably 895% of our viewers are home league.
So he's still like C tier, but he's interesting to me.
I've kind of blown away by what I saw on tape from him.
The role, what?
Really?
Yeah, yeah, really.
One more time, Malik Washington, his final year of college, 110 catches, 1,426 yards,
nine touchdowns, holds two of the decades best-ever seasons by mistackles force per reception.
So, yeah, go on.
Yeah, so, you know, he's,
playing this primary interior slot role.
It actually was similar to the One Dell usage last year,
where it was a little more downfield.
But they were attacking vertically with him from the slot,
and he has a little bit of juice to him.
But they were also giving him some easy button targets.
A couple of them just did go there with it.
He did catch one screen,
and I think, you know, got like 9, 10 yards on it,
and then had another one batted out of the line of scrimmage
and then another one that kind of got, you know, defended pretty well.
But ultimately, like, I really like the role.
but the thing that stood out to me was his ability to just carve up zone.
And Malik was just a little late getting to him in the progression.
But he was, I mean, he was uncovering and running routes at a really high level against zone.
His feel for finding space in between linebackers, in between linebacker safety, or in between corner safety.
I thought it was super duper high level, something we hadn't seen from him yet to this point.
He's definitely taken a little bit of a step forward with the route running and with just his overall football IQ.
I kind of I really liked what I saw I thought this trio in general exceeded expectations it's why it's a little bit even more of a bummer Malik had such a bad day but Douglas was also very impressive the ball winning the route running all that looked great but I think moving forward I'm kind of like team Malik here as the guy as the guy with the ideal role I love that when we're aligned when we didn't even talk about it beforehand so what B tier what do you think yeah I think B's fair yeah all right we got those throughout the way let's talk about my
guy Amon Ross St. Brown Jr. Antonio Williams in Washington. Available 98% of leagues.
Yeah. When you talk about what you like from Antonio Williams, you did comp him to
Amon Ross St. Brown. I did say that was insane. But I also said that when you comped Puka
Nakua to Justin Jefferson pre-draft. Yeah. So Williams was, let's just start with this. Like I love
guys that play the game the right way.
Like he plays hair on fire,
insanely physical,
100 miles an hour in every play.
And he's not the biggest guy in the world.
He's literally like the same exact size as I'm on right.
He's like 5-11, 199, something like that.
He's yoked up pretty good.
He's pretty jacked for his size and just plays like he's got
attitude. And I love that.
What I really loved about the versatility in the translatable skills
of the NFL is like he was a primary outside guy for
whole seasons at Clemson than a primary slot guy and he was really good at both he's an excellent route
runner i talked about the ability to beat zone with malik walshian well that's all over antonio williams tape
he's also got a ton of ball winning potential as a go up and get it guy um he's really great at
using his body and frame to box guys out and keep them away from the football flashes late hands
really good hands strong hands i there's a lot i like about ntonio williams the i think he really
he thrived on like a vertical route tree at Clemson.
That was when he was at his best.
But when they had to use him as like the de facto number one,
you know, early down guy, short area of the field guy,
he was awesome in that role too.
So I think he's just a super versatile player,
a perfect compliment to Scary Terry and Stefan Diggs
and they should get a lot out of him.
Yeah, only one wide receiver average more yards per route run
than Antonio Williams, 5.82.
that was Zay Flowers.
So insane efficiency.
I'm going to put him C tier, though.
I think he's a great stash in a deep league
if you're looking for upside in the later in the season.
But he only had a 26% route share.
So I think, you know, behind Stefan Diggs,
behind Terry McLaurin,
you know, you really can't count on too much in the short term.
Probably going to be available on waivers for another month or so.
I'm just curious, what do you think happened with Terry McLaurin?
You think it's just the Eagles have his number?
Do you think he looked washed?
What do you think happened?
I mean, the offense was just completely disjointed the whole game.
The offensive line looked non-viable.
What was McClurean's role?
Was he back in the deep threat role?
Because based on what the OC was saying all offseason,
I thought he would be in like the featured one role where they,
No, they tried. They tried. I mean, that's the thing with Vic Fangio is he can give you nightmares. Like, he can take away your best player pretty easily. Quinyan, I pretty sure traveled with him. I'll have to double check the data. But just off the film, first impression, I'm pretty sure Quignan traveled with him. And then they were behind the chains the entire game. They couldn't run the football, the offensive line made no impact in the run game. I thought Daniels had probably more time than I thought he was going to to throw the ball. He kind of held the ball forever, actually.
on some downs just couldn't really get it going with Terry I I'm I'm just going to chalk
that one up as week one's a liar but we'll we'll see for sure another thing I liked about
Williams though by the way is they moved them all over the place you know played X played
played in the slot played the flanker role I think that that's a good sign too so
we got to go backwards though we didn't tear Chris Bell and Caleb Douglas so do we have
to I because we'll just go go probably D tier for Chris Bell it's gonna be they're
gonna ease him into the offense he played
the third most snaps among wide receivers.
And then he was just like barely ahead of Kevin Coleman Jr.
So like they're going to ease them into the offense coming off to ACL.
And I think Douglas is probably C tier.
Actually, you know what?
Let's go Malik and A tier and Douglas a B tier.
Are you okay with that or no?
Or do you just want to go both B tier for them?
I think I think Malik A tier is fine.
But I think Douglas still C tier.
It's like I don't want to have the exposure to Malik Willis wide receivers, Brett.
That's fair, but we're talking last spot on the bench kind of guys.
And I think, I think you're pre-draft bias of Douglas.
We talk about these next wide receivers because there's, there's a lot more to like.
So C tier for Douglas for now.
B-tier for Washington.
Executive decision.
B tier for,
I just worry you're holding on to pre-draft bias with Douglas because Stephen O'Rourke had been hyping
him up.
I've been hyping him up all preseason.
And then he goes out and puts up a 92 burger in his first game.
I mean, at some point, you're going to have to course correct.
Go spend 30% of your fab on three Miami wide receivers and see how that works out for you.
No one's saying that.
No one's saying that.
But Trey, I'd go Washington B tier, Douglas B tier.
Then we'll revisit here in a second.
All right, Debo Samuel, he's available or sorry, he's only owned in 40% of league.
So he's available on over half the leagues out there.
I don't want anything to do with this, but I'll let you cook.
Bro, I liked what I saw in the stats at the very least.
He had a 41% snap share, which is not great, but Dejaun Sribling is now out one to two months,
if not for the rest of the season.
And Debo had six catches on seven targets for 48 yards and a touchdown.
Back in that screen roll, which raises your weekly floor, one carry for 12 rushing yards.
I liked what I saw, and I see upside now with stribling out.
The only real question is, is this a washed fat version of Debo Samuel?
Or is it possible the 2024 version or 2023 version of Debo Samuel's back?
You're the film expert.
So only you could tell me that.
I don't think he looks truly washed.
Okay.
I'll be nice in that regard.
He looks actually leaner than he did last year.
So I think that's a good thing.
But he doesn't have the same explosiveness in tackle breaking upside.
he did a year ago or even three years ago.
So I don't know.
I'm, I don't know.
I think this is all Evans and Kettle for me and then CMC.
Yeah, I don't know.
That's the other thing is they were easing Kittle and CMC dealt with cramps.
So I think it makes more sense for CMC to get those screens when he's healthy.
All right. So based on your film expertise, I guess you're going to go D tier.
Yeah, D tier.
And here's a big one.
I think a relatively huge one.
He's available in 99% of leagues.
Yeah.
DeMario Douglas,
Pop Douglas.
This dude does nothing but gets open.
I know he's one of John Hanson's favorite guys.
I don't know why they just seem to never want to like just fully trust him and lean into him.
But to Mario Douglas, man, we got A.J. Brown on the shelf.
And we got Romeo Dubs stinking the joint up.
So somebody has to catch passes.
They traded K. Sean Booty.
Kyle Williams is not really in the fold yet.
So it's by de facto de facto de Mario Douglas here.
He was quietly awesome in week one.
He had a team high seven targets, a team high 79% round share.
AJ Brent has a really bad high ankle sprain.
It's probably out six weeks.
And what's interesting is,
so I had this great Texans source who got uprooted
and became a Patriots beat.
and I was texting with him during that game early on, I think before the AJ Brown injury,
and he was like, bro, I've been telling you DeMario Douglas is better than Romeo Dobbs.
Romeo Dobbs looked awful in that game.
Romeo Dobbs is the number two.
And then A.J. Brown goes out.
I'm like, hey, if A.J. Brown's out a while, what do you think happens?
You think it's just another different wide receiver one every week?
Like last year, he's like, no, I think DeMario Douglas gets a ton of balls.
So again, a really inspiring week one, really awful week one for Dobbs and, you know, sources high on, on Douglas.
So yeah, and if it matches with what you're seeing on tape, I think this is like one of the sneakiest ads that I haven't heard anyone else really, you know, keep up for.
Yeah, for that reason, I think we got to go S here.
There's a chance.
I mean, right, there's a chance you're getting, you're getting the, you know, a high powered off.
offense is number one wide out, at least until AJ Brown comes back.
There's a chance that has to make him S-tier.
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, again, I don't know that is championship-winning upside or an A.J. Brown comes back at some point.
And I've called Drake May the Mousay Dong of quarterbacks because of how much he likes to spread the wealth around.
So I think S-tier is a little lofty, but I love your conviction.
so we can stick with it.
This is honestly a guy where I don't think you need to burn a waiver claim.
I think he'll be there for you to add on Thursday or Friday if you needed to.
Interesting.
Well, we have Jalen Coker in the S tier and he plays with the quarterback who doesn't.
You know what I'm saying?
Yeah, but we have proof of concept with like I said,
15.5 fantasy points per game over his last seven.
Douglas, he flashed for a week and then he'll disappear for a month.
Okay.
If you don't want him an S tier, then I...
Yeah, let's move him A tier.
Just I feel a little bit more carbon.
But I like that we're aligned here as like he is the number one under the radar waiver claim.
All right.
The next guy is not owned in any leagues.
His ownership rate is zero.
Except for Brett's leagues where you drafted him in round 12.
I haven't obscene amount of dynasty shares of Khalif Raymond, actually.
Caliph Raymond, that's what we're talking about.
Caliph Raymond, Chicago Bears wide out, led the team in target share.
in a what was a curb stomping of the Carolina Panthers,
he was very active.
Don't think anyone truly saw this coming.
So is this, are we treating this like it's real?
Or what's the deal here, Scott?
So I, this is curious.
This is interesting.
I think I need a lead off with this stat is that he had a 35% target share.
The only players with a higher target share than that were,
for JSN, Amun Raus St. Brown, and Puka Nakua.
So this was elite, elite volume for what looks to be one of the best offenses in football.
They just dropped 60 points.
There's like real contingent upside here.
Like people are holding on to Ryan Flournoy, who they think could be a league winner.
And I agree, if George Pickens or C.D. Lam were to suffer an injury.
But that has to extend to Clayf Raymond at a bare minimum.
It's like, hey, what if, you know, Luther Burden gets her?
What if Romo Dunzei gets hurt?
I don't want to believe this is real.
I want to believe, hey,
Burden was dealing with injuries.
He missed a ton of practice time in August.
O'Donzei came into the week banged up.
And that's all this is.
And this is going to be Khalif Raymond's best game all year.
But you're the Khalif Raymond guys.
So you can tell me whether that's right or wrong.
I mean, I don't know.
I mean, I figured he'd be a factor in the offense.
but like, no, I don't think, I don't think this role is going to stay.
I do think eventually it's going to be the other three, you know, Loveland, Burden, O'Donze,
not necessarily in that order, but is he going to have weeks like this?
Yeah, I think that's probably true.
So I don't know how much, like, I think trying to predict this week over week is nightmarish.
I got to see it happen a few more times in a row before I really buy in.
I would say like D tier.
Okay.
Sounds good to me.
If the, yeah, if Captain Caliph Raymond,
captain of the Khalif Raymond fan club has him D tier,
who am I to disagree?
Sure.
All right, the next guy I think is,
is pretty consequential as well.
And he's a guy I talked about this offseason as like,
hey, the Philadelphia Eagles are implementing a new offense.
And we know, and they traded A.J. Brown.
And we know Jalen Hertz has struggled to throw the ball over the middle,
or I should say been unwilling to throw the ball over the middle of the field.
And so if the new stuff in the office,
offense doesn't stick. Who's the biggest beneficiary? Well, it's not Devante Smith,
and it's not Mackay-Lemann and it's not Dallas-Ga-Dotard. It's actually Dantavian Wicks.
And that's exactly what we saw yesterday. Jalen Hertz over 60% of his pass attempts were
outside the numbers still. Despite the new offense, despite everything we've heard this
off season, he didn't throw the ball over the middle of the field. And most of his middle
the field throws were, you know, checkdowns and screens and things of that nature. So
I think this is really interesting, Scott. I don't want to overreact.
to it but we know dontavian wicks is a high-level separator and he might have a good role what do you
think well on one of our previous episodes i reminded you my comp for dontavian wicks was if randy moss
was born without arms and then i you're like yeah because he's an ask god he's a yak god he just
has this awful drop rate with those drops typically coming at the worst possible time in the end
zone on deep balls with the game on the line and i was like yeah but like what if he just like
you know, got a jugs machine for Christmas or he, like, grew an appendage like a lizard,
and now he has one arm.
And if you look at what he did, it looked like he had two arms.
He looked awesome.
He was getting open.
You know, just to pump the bricks a little bit, I'll say heavy 11 personnel, he tied
Mackay Lemon, who were probably lowest in the injury on, but was still a round one draft
pick and a Bolitnikov winner tied Mikhail Lemon and Routes Run, tied Mackayleman and Target
and like let's not lose sight of the fact that this is an Eagles offense that like ranks
bottom three in pass attempts every single season. So and he's probably he's probably the number
three target for an offense that again is probably going to be bottom three and past attempts.
So that's that's sort of the weighing of the pros and cons to me.
It's tough because, yeah, I agree.
Smitty, Goddard, they're going to be targeted more heavily.
But we know Hertz is going to hit a deep ball or two every single week,
and they're going to go to this guy.
It's forced.
I don't know.
It's a tough equation to figure out for me.
Where are you tearing him out at?
Probably B tier.
B tier.
Okay.
That's a lot higher than I thought you're going to say based on your analysis.
Okay.
C tier's fair. Well, let's go tight ends. We got three want to talk about real quick. Michael
Mayor kind of disappointing after we hyped him up quite a bit on our start sit show last week.
Where are you at on Mr. Mayor? Yeah, usage was great. 77% route share, seven targets. I think a lot of
people are going to be looking to add him. I just kind of don't get it. It's we just heard,
you know, per Ian Rappaport that Brock Bowers is looking to play week two. So it's like,
Uh, there,
didn't you have knee surgery?
Yeah.
I, so I think this is insane.
And like, if you're a Bauer's owner, I don't want him playing.
I want them, because they tried to do that last year and they made it worse.
Um, but that is what is being reported in which case like, yeah, his usage is good in the short term.
But as soon as Bowers comes back, I don't see a ton of upside for him.
So like I in fantasy football, all that really matters at the tight end position is like big range, tight end one upside or,
better and I just don't see that from Michael Mayer. So he's like another
D tier to me. Okay. I like it. Doltan Schultz,
Houston Texans, 48% owned across the universe, which means is available in over
half of the leagues. I feel like Schultz is always a sneaky fantasy guy,
but what do you have to say about him? Yeah, it's seven targets, four catches 35 yards,
in a game that like C.J. Strouday typically, what, attempted 38 passes or he's usually
well below that. I, he's another D tier to me. I just don't see a ton of upside here. I mean,
like, people are like, oh, well, you know, Jaden Higgins got hurt. They don't have anyone else. It's like,
that was the same thing last year, you know? So I just don't see a ton of upside for the guy.
I kind of agree with you. Maybe a skank.
tight end play here and there.
You know, if you're really desperate.
People are looking to, like, maybe you see Tucker Crafts 40% route share and they're
like, okay, Packers are really taking it easy on him, which they're notorious for having
the most conservative training staff and football.
Yeah, but it's like I would rather start a 40% Tucker Kraft than Dalton Schultz.
Unrelated to the topic of the show, but I test on Tucker Craft suggested he needed to be
eased into the offensive.
interesting wow i don't think he looks super explosive right now so we'll see um last one of the show
mike gisicki cincinnati bengals he's only owned in two percent of leagues basically can find
him everywhere uh led the team in targets am i correct in saying that the number one receiver for
the Cincinnati bangles spread in a tight game kind of well not really they were they were leading by a lot
bucks made a late run at it but uh man i don't know
out here. Yeah, he's he's probably Fed here. Like I'm open to being wrong, but uh, we saw this at times
over the last two years where he'd randomly pop. Usually when T. Higgins was hurt, by the way,
but 46% route share. He's basically like poor man's Dalton Kincaid or poor, poor man's
last year's Donn Kincaid to me. I know some people are getting very excited, but I don't really
see it personally. Yeah, for for the purposes of fantasy where you have to make a lineup call. I,
I just don't, I don't think you can do it.
DFS, obviously, he's got some utility,
but this is not a DFS show.
So we'll stick with just waiver wire.
F tier for sure.
That's it.

how are you feeling about that?
Feeling great.
This is a blast.
Love talking ball with you.
Love learning from you,
leaning on your film expertise to help my analysis with the numbers.

I feel great heading into,
the waiver wire for all of my dozens of teams this week.
I'm going to end the show the same way I always do.
