Senior Bowl, Day 1 reactions.
I'm Theo Greminger with Brett Whitefield here for Fantasy Points.
We're down live in Mobile, Alabama.
Brett, we're going to go over a lot of guys that stood out for us
and a couple of surprises as well.
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, this is, gosh, Senior Bowl Week is my favorite week of the year.
Honestly, it's like Christmas for me, Theo.
We get to evaluate a bunch of guys.
But, man, there were some dudes that stepped up
that I didn't get to a lot of their tape
or kind of had a low bar to clear for them.
And some of these guys answered the bell, man.
so I'm excited to talk about it.
100%.
I mean, there was guys today that we could have labeled as a sleeper heading in that gained some value.
I would say the first practice ended up being the best one.
There was more energy, more guys to talk about from the first practice.
And one thing that was interesting was the two quarterbacks that most people have circled
as the best chance to get into the NFL first round, Jackson Dart,
Jalen Milrow, they were both in the second session.
Sort of your thoughts on what you saw from those two guys today.
Yeah, I love adding context of these conversations too.
So I just want to remind the listeners that this is a hard week for Cubies.
New terminology, new nomenclature, new personnel, new coaches, new field.
It's tough.
So that said, there's not a ton to take away from the QBs.
I will say this.
I thought Jackson Dart looked like the NFL QB today.
Like he looked, he's got the side.
He had the command of the offense.
He was vocal.
You could hear him with the team.
I mentioned the cadence during practice.
That stuff sounds ridiculous to talk about, but it stands out.
Throwing the ball, it looked fine, right?
Like the timing was off for most quarterbacks today.
So that's not the end of the world.
But he definitely looked more of the part where I thought Milro really struggled.
Gosh, how many throws today before he completed a ball?
And not all of it was his fault.
There's a couple drops in there, too, but it was like,
it was struggling to get going.
It just, you know, the accuracy was a little bit off.
The timing and rhythm was just a little bit off.
Definitely not a day.
anybody would label a win for Jalen Milro.
Devil's Advocate is the body looks good.
He weighed in at about 220, I believe.
So we'll like, the door is not closed.
Day two and day three have to be better for Milro, though.
I think Dart did enough today where it wasn't like people are pounding the table
saying this guy's a big day one winner.
But like you said, there's some traits there that people are going to walk away with as a positive.
How about some other quarterbacks, Brett?
Is there any other quarterback that stood out to you?
We're really looking for guys in this class to rise up.
I first want to ask you about Taylor L.Gersma,
and this is a quarterback from Laurier in Canada,
late addition to the Senior Bowl roster.
There's been some people talking about him as a potential riser,
a potential sleeper to keep an eye on.
Your thoughts on him from getting to see him literally for one day.
He looks like an NFL QB.
He's got the size, what is he, 6-3, 6-4, and then the arm, NFL arm, Theo.
Like the dude was, he was throwing piss missiles.
A couple drops today were strictly because he's thrown 100-mile-an-hour fastballs.
So really good arm.
The accuracy was tough.
The footwork needs to be cleaned up a little bit.
But I think there's something to work with there at least.
Yeah, for me, it was like, I want to see him for day two.
Nothing was perfect, but there are some traits there where you're like, that's an NFL
quarterback.
And again, he's just, this is about his best.
big of a sleeper as it gets. I didn't know there was a Laurier University until we saw him on
the Senior Bowl roster. So that was an interesting one. One thing that you and Joe Dolan were talking
about was the fact that last year, Bo Nix and Michael Pennix, it wasn't like after day one,
everybody was like, oh my God, these guys had an amazing day. But is there anything with the
Senior Bowl where you talked about the difficulty for the quarterbacks? Is it a timing thing? Is it a
familiarity with the teammates you're throwing to.
Sort of your thoughts on that.
Yeah, for sure.
Some of it is like, so Bo Nicks coming from Oregon.
Everything's quick hit RPO, you know, occasional seven step.
There's no in-breaking routes over the middle of the field.
So for him to have to sit there and hit a seven-step drop from under center
and then rip a backside dig route on an aggregate concept, that's difficult to do if you, A, never done it,
and B, never done it with the guys you're doing it with.
So, yeah, I think that all gets lost in the shovel.
I think the value QB's game this week is in the meetings with teams themselves.
Like their personality coming out, seeing the leadership aspect of it.
That's really where we're guys.
Like, I know we've got stories of Justin Herbert and Jalen Hertz dominated the senior bowl week.
But even still, a lot of that was because of who they were as people.
We all got to talk to Jalen Hertz.
He impressed everybody.
So for those guys this year, for the Jackson, Darts, Jailen Mill Road, that's really where they can make some money,
is getting in the team's faces and showing them who they really are.
And then one other quarterback to point out, Dylan Gabriel, I don't think, hurt himself.
And I think this is a profile where it's another guy people are not going to walk away from pounding the table for.
But the experience is there didn't hurt himself today.
We're talking about a guy with like 60 college starts.
So Dylan Gabriel is one that I want to see tomorrow as well.
The running back position, we knew it was going to be a strong class here.
And I think that it definitely was no letdown.
There was a number of running backs who really, really stood out.
This is even with Cam Scadabo opting out, a running back we would have liked to have seen in person.
But Ollie Gordon and Damien Martinez, these two guys, two of the larger backs down here in Mobile, both of these guys had strong days.
Yeah, just from showing up in pads, they had strong days because these guys are units.
Like Ali Gordon, like it reminds me of the Naja Harris year.
I compared him to Brian Robinson Jr.
When you got in Brian's space, like the presence, the size that he came with was like,
that's an NFL player.
Like that is a dude.
And then he just was good at every, like he wasn't bad at anything.
He was good or average at literally everything.
I felt like that was Ali Gordon today where it was the size is just so attractive.
Like a team is going to fall in love with that.
He's a grinder, culture, tone setter.
And you see it, man.
He's rocked up.
I was sitting with Cody Carpenteer of Roster Watch
and he compared his body to Anaghi Harris.
Like this is a guy where I think the idea is when you read about
Ollie Gordon, people think he's going to end up being a Jonathan Taylor,
a Derek Henry, some massive specimen.
He carries it differently, but he's every bit 233, 235, he's tall,
and he did everything well today.
This was absolutely a win for Ollie Gordon.
There's mixed opinions on him,
But I think after the Senior Bowl, it's going to be trending towards the positive.
Damien Martinez is a guy that we both talked about that we are really excited about.
Wade in a little bit lighter than we thought.
222.
Listed at 237 in college, 240 even at Oregon State, all the way down to 222.
And he looks, he's big, but he looks lean.
Like that's the takeaway for me.
Like he has, you could see where the frame was packing it on, right?
But he looks good, like really light on his feet.
for a guy that size, which is in his college tape too.
I mean, but yeah, a huge
winner today just from the size standpoint alone.
Yeah, and he looked good catching the ball to me as well.
I think that this is a player that's going to
continue gaining momentum. I wouldn't be
surprised if he doesn't have a really big day two
or day three down here.
You mentioned that the weight,
he carries it very well. This is a
really well-built running back.
But it wasn't just the two running backs, the larger
backs. There was a number of other running
backs we need to talk about, including a
player that gained a lot of value today and had a wonderful day at the running back spot.
We're going to take a quick break.
We come back.
Brett's going to talk about a couple of these other running backs.
Welcome back live from Mobile, Alabama, talking senior bowl day one.
Brett, one player that I think I need to move up in my ranks is R.J. Harvey.
R.J. Harvey out of central Florida, he's a shorter back.
He's only about 5-7-58, but he weighed in well.
He's got a very solid frame
And I think he did pretty much
Everything well today
There was no kind of bad reps for RJ Harvey
Look good catching the ball
Look good running the ball
Your thoughts on Harvey?
Yeah, he looked smooth as an athlete for one
Like really really smooth route runner
Light on his feet
I thought he looked explosive on some of the outside zone
Run stuff they were doing
They were bringing in you know wing formation 12 personnel
He looked great on the outside zone stuff
So I'm kind of comping to Rashad right right now
I know he's not as tall as Rashad
but the movement skills, the fluidity, the way they play the game, it reminds me of each other.
Yeah, I don't know if I necessarily have a comp for Harvey.
I'm really excited to see him again, though, because just he looks the part.
This is a guy where I don't know what the draft capital will be, but if he lands correctly,
this could be a change of pace back.
This could be a direct handcuff.
But this is a player that looks good with the ball in his hands.
And again, no real negative plays today.
but one player that I was not necessarily expecting a lot from was Breschard Smith of SMU.
And I would say Breschard Smith was one of today's biggest winners of any skill position player,
completely dominant in the one-on-one pass-catching drills,
which we would have expected for a back that had some experience as a receiver.
But Breschard Smith looked really good running the football as well.
Your thoughts?
Yeah, Breschard was a guy I didn't get a lot of exposure to before.
we got down here. Last night actually when we got into our Airbnb I busted up in the tape and got
some more. But this is a you know a wide receiver convert and you see the skills translate to the
past game. He was arguably the best route runner as a running back today, dominated the one-on-one
drills. And I agree with you. He did look good in the run in the run game. The problem for me on
his tape was he wasn't overly physical runner. He's going to shy away from contact. And today we're not
really getting, you know, they're wearing pads but they're not really hitting today. So it's kind of hard
to get a feel for how he's how urgent he is getting to the line of scrimmage and and pressing
those gaps and you know is he willing to stick his face in a fan and grind out those yards i'm not
sure yet but he looks good in the past game for sure yeah i think some teams are going to look at him as a
guy that they can draft and use as a pass catching specialist out of the backfield but i think
he looks like a guy who could also be a change of pace back so i i think that for me breschard
smith is one that i'm really excited about seeing tomorrow uh definitely a very fluid fluid player
probably the most natural pass catcher out of the running back position,
at least in the second session at the running back spot.
A couple of running backs that some people would like to hear our opinions on
that we actually talked about last week,
Devin Neal, Woody Marks, and LeQuint Allen.
All three of these guys sort of have hives where there's some real hype surrounding these guys.
I would say it was a quiet day, but big wins from their measurables.
Yeah, all three, like LeQuint Allen, one of my favorites,
It's weighed in at 207, a guy that was listed at 195 at Syracuse, and he's the most accomplished
past catching back in the class, if we're being honest.
And I thought he ran really wide.
I've compared him to Carry on Johnson.
I thought he ran very physical for his size.
And so him weighing at 207, to me that tells me he's got every down back potential,
Belcow potential, 300 touch a year potential if he lanes in the right spot.
So I'm all the way in on him.
Woody Marks another one where, you know, the past game chops are there, finally got a real role in
the run game this year and looked great doing it.
A lot of make you miss moves, great vision.
So yeah, both those guys really stood out.
Yeah, definitely will be an interesting one to see tomorrow.
And Devin Neal at 220, that was a weight that I was not expecting.
I thought that he'd way closer to 210.
So definitely looking for those guys as well tomorrow in day two.
And we're going to be live here, day two as well.
We're going to cover this as well.
I want to talk about the wide receivers, though, Brett,
because we talked last week.
And one wide receiver that we were both excited about was Tess Johnson.
The weigh-ins come in.
He weighs only 156.
So I was totally ready to have to adjust my rankings.
But Tess Johnson was absolutely one of the winners today.
He moves differently, very, very fluid out on the field.
Just a whole lot to like about his performance today.
I keep calling him a Sindarin elf from Lord of the Rings, Laura, if you're unfamiliar.
Lega loss is a Sidharan elf.
The guy, I swear to God, his feet don't touch the ground when he runs.
But I'm glad you said what you said.
You thought about adjusting your rankings.
I did the same thing last night.
With Eulik Ayuminoa dropping out, I now have TES as my number one receiver at the Senior Bowl.
And last night, I stared at that list and I thought about moving him down because I saw the 156 body weight.
But I didn't.
I left.
I stood on the tape and I'm happy I did because he showed out today.
My favorite part of the day was he got a one-on-one matchup against the biggest corner here in Mobile.
It was the kid from Western Michigan.
I don't remember his name.
Bill Alcone.
And they pressed him with Coney.
This is a 6-2-22-pound corner.
And you're thinking, oh, well, that's it for Tes, right?
He's 156 pounds.
He's going to get dominated.
He absolutely murdered him off the line.
Coney didn't get a hand on him.
I mean, he slipped it.
I mean, it was a split release,
diamond split release,
into a fantastic breaking route
and just got a ton of separation.
And so I'm not seeing anything
that tells me he can't play at that body weight. And that kind of scares me because I've always
been trepid on these guys. Yeah, I mean, when we look at it, Tank Dell was very slight,
ends up getting drafted on day two. Tutu Atwell, super skinny, ends up getting drafted on day two.
If Tess Johnson has another two strong days here in Mobile and he runs well enough at the combine,
I think he's headed to be a day two draft pick as well, despite being this very, very slight size.
other wide receivers.
I was expecting to talk to you about Jaden Higgins.
And we're going to talk about him in a minute.
But one guy that I would call a winner from the first session was Jalen Knoll from Iowa State.
This was a guy who could end up being a slot receiver, some parallels to Roman Wilson last year.
Like Jailen Kohl made a wonderful catch, looked good in all the drills.
Your thoughts on him?
Yeah, he looked awesome today.
I thought he was probably the best receiver of the early practice.
from a separation standpoint, it looked awesome when he was in the slot.
And then what really surprised me, Theo, is they lined him up on the outside a bunch,
and he won vertically.
And that was a big question for me.
It's like, can he win vertically at the NFL level?
And he did it.
He beat Pratt's a couple of time.
He had the back shoulder ball in the end zone for a touchdown,
then hit a post-corner route, absolutely crushed the corner there
and ran right by him for an easy touchdown as well.
So I thought he was, as far as receivers go, he was the show today.
Yeah, and it's funny because right before Pratt,
to started like the warm-ups before the actual warm-ups, he's out on the field and I said,
I'm getting vibes. I'm getting, it's a vibe guy from Noel. I'm like, Noel is here to play.
So that was really good. We'll see how he does the next two days, but certainly you're going to
see him listed as a senior bowl winner in a lot of content. And I think he deserves every bit of
that praise. But Jaden Higgins, Higgins was a guy that when we talk about the measurables, the way-in
was a big win for him.
Yeah, absolutely.
What, 217 pounds at almost 6'4.
So he's 6.3 and 7.8s,
270 pounds.
Great prototype extraceiver size.
So he checked that box.
Another thing I was looking for is because he played a lot in the slot at Iowa State.
And he used that power slot, that Michael Thomas, you know,
slot king or slant God, I should say.
And his reps on the outside winning are kind of fluky.
I wanted to see him go win as an ex-receiver today.
And I felt like he did a good job of that.
There were some contested ball situations.
I'd like to see him come down with that he didn't.
There's two more days for that.
They'll do red zone drill tomorrow.
We'll get to see him in those situations a lot more.
But I felt like he moves well for that size too, Theo.
Yeah, he was definitely a winner.
We talked about the strong lower body.
He, the way in alone with his profile,
this is a guy that I think has a chance to sneak into the second round
with this kind of size, with this class.
One other wide receiver that we talked about last week,
that we're both super excited for
Xavier Restrepo.
Not the best day for Xavier Restrepo.
And probably really not the best
24 hours. He gets measured in
at 5-9. Today
not that great.
We're not closing the door on him
by all means, but
we want to see a little bit more. Yeah, and I really
feel like the coaching staff for that team
was challenging him. A lot of his production
in Miami obviously was from the slot. A lot of
these quick hitters, whip routes,
slants, stuff like that.
shallow crossers, and they had him running a mostly vertical route tree today.
And I thought that was on purpose.
It was like, hey, let's see.
And that was one of my big questions.
You go back to that video that you and I did last week.
Can he win on the outside on a vertical plane?
And it wasn't there today.
But that's okay.
We saw Xavier Leggett last year struggle day one a lot, like really bad practice.
And then he got better and better as the week went on.
Still ends up in the first round.
So it doesn't mean Restrepo's not going to be one of the dudes.
Just, you know, we need to see him bounce back strong tomorrow.
Five-nine, two-hundred pounds for Restrepo.
He's got sort of a running-back build to him.
I think that the one takeaway for me is I want to see that landing spot where a team's
going to park him in the slot.
I think the idea that he's a versatile wide receiver at the NFL level that can bump
outside, bump inside, and just get moved around.
I probably need to adjust that.
But again, it's only day one of the senior bowl.
And this is a guy that is the first Miami wide receiver ever to have back-to-back
thousand-yard seasons, big-time college production with.
Restrepo, two players in the second session that really stood out. Your thoughts on Ty Felton of Maryland.
He was a big-time producer this year for the Terps and made a couple of sensational catches.
He caught one pass deep in the end zone from Jackson Dart, which was sort of like maybe the
best moment of the second session. Your thoughts on Ty?
Yeah, Ty, I was big on him coming into the week, probably one of my favorite guys here.
I think I'm higher on than him than most people.
What I really love about him is he's do it all receiver.
He's just over six foot, 200 plus pounds.
You know, he's got that linear explosiveness to win downfield,
but he's also great in the short part of the field.
I felt like he literally just checked all those boxes today.
Every time he was asked to do something in the short part of the field,
he was great.
And then obviously the few big vertical wins,
that moment specifically you're talking about where cooked a corner
and then caught kind of what was a poorly thrown football in the end zone for a touchdown.
It was still a touchdown pass from Jackson Dart.
so we'll still give him credit for that one.
But yeah, Felton's one where Felton's production at Maryland was outstanding.
Sort of a one-man gang in the receiving core there.
So for him to come down here and have this sort of a day one,
this was definitely a win for him.
Another guy that you've been very, very high on in the entire process is Jack Beckt of TCU,
who I would say besides Felton would probably be,
it's either a tie for best performance in the second session at the wide receiver spot
or flip a coin which one you liked.
But Jack Beck, certainly looked apart
of an NFL wide out.
Yes, he wasn't on seven in the team period.
He wasn't targeted a ton,
but the route running consistently,
snap to snap, was by far the best of the day.
I mean, he was outstanding from that standpoint.
So I would like to see them purposely target him
a little bit more tomorrow.
But yeah, he was every bit what I thought he was.
In fact, I think I even said to you during the practice,
he moves even better than I thought he moved on tape.
some really nice wiggle in the top of a stem and stuff like that.
So yeah, I'm all in on Jack Beck still.
He's a pro body.
He's a fast-twitch guy and a guy that is a little bit taller than I would have anticipated as well.
So I think his trajectory is definitely pointing up.
One of the great things about being in Mobile at the Senior Bowl is getting to interact with the players.
And Joe Dolan and Brett had a chance to sit down with Jalen Royals from Utah State.
I'm with Jalen Royals, wide receiver of Utah State.
Jalen, how you feel, I mean, I know it was a tough end of the season for you,
but how are you feeling with your mobile?
Overall, I'm feeling pretty good, you know, first day practice,
you know, just getting back, having played since October, so it's just good to be back.
How does this process different than just like a normal week of practice for you?
Like, how is this kind of, like affected your story and your preparation for the NFL?
So, you know, we're treated like, you know, pros,
and we're going through all the stuff that the pros are doing.
And, you know, everybody here is good, too, so it's great competition.
against, so. Hey, what's up, man? What do you feel like your, your number one trait you bring to an
NFL team was going to be? I think, you know, I'm a run out to catch. I'm a pretty good around at the
catch. You know, I can, you know, make a person miss, and that's really it. Do you prefer playing
in the slot or out wide? It doesn't matter. Doesn't matter. Do you like, you feel good getting
off press? Yeah, I do feel good. What's your, what's your go-to press beater? Probably either split
release or just speed release just beat on speed. A lot of people like to put hands, so I just
Yeah, you seem physical getting off the line of scrimmage.
I love that.
Keep it up, man.
Have a good week.
Thank you.
I also had a chance to talk to Jalen Royals,
and he told me that he's playing at about 80%.
Would you say when you watched him today that we would have liked to have seen a little bit more,
but we've seen enough on film that one day is not going to really hurt him.
Yeah, and you can't really knock a guy for gutting through when he's 80%.
And you could tell almost every time he dug deep, he was grabbing that thigh or whatever.
I don't want to speculate on what the injury is.
Sorry.
But yeah, he's grabbing something.
He doesn't look 100%.
So that's notable.
And I will say the couple times he did dig deep and give it all,
explosive plays downfield.
He had the one.
Jalen Milrow's best throw of the day actually was a fantastic route,
great separation, you know, good hands catch.
For me, it's a little disappointing with the injury because I really wanted to see the route
running against these corners coming from Utah State. Not a ton of, you know, high level competition.
He played at cornerback. So really wanted to see what he looked like. It's okay, though.
You know, I think I've seen enough to maybe kind of patchwork it together.
Yeah, I think Royals is a day two pick. I think that this was going to be the chance for him to kind
of steam up. So we'll see how day two and day three go. Definitely looked like he kept grabbing
his leg like it was trouble getting warmed up. So Royals is definitely one that we want to keep an eye on.
but this is a guy that had tremendous college production
and has a chance to regain a little bit of steam
in session number two and session number three.
And one thing you and Joe Dolan were talking about
was last year was Xavier Leggett after his day one.
Yeah, yeah, Leggett, I mean, you know, I mentioned earlier with Restrepo, I think,
really, really tough day one.
I mean, he was like really struggled.
And I think what got him, and ultimately in the first round
wasn't just the skill set.
that was the fact that he battled back from that.
Like there's a psychological warfare he waged to come back day two and day three
and keep building on what he did day one.
I thought that was a huge win for him.
So definitely an opportunity for Royals to do the same thing here.
Tight end wise, we knew that this was a strong class.
Gunner Helm dropped out, which was disappointing.
That was a tight end we would have liked to see in person.
But there was some major, major winners today.
The first session, Elijah Arroyo, was awesome.
Yeah, Arroy. And to be honest with you, Theo, like, Gunner dropping out for whatever reason it was, I don't know that it's good because Elijah Arroyo was widely considered to be behind him as far as, you know, polling race. I'm not sure the media really, I don't know that we drive the draft position as much as we think we do, but it definitely seemed like consensus was that Gunner was a better player. And Elijah Arroyo went out today and tore it up from the floor up. And I, like, that can't be good for Gunner because he may have lost some draft position today to Elijah Arroyo.
Elijah Royo, when you see him in person, 6, 4.5, 251 at the way in.
He's 21 years old.
I believe he just turned 21.
He was like a 20-year-old when he declared.
This is a player where he sort of profiles like a lot of tight ends that have had immense fantasy success lately.
His body type is sort of like Trey McBride, like Brock Bowers, Evan Engram, Sam Leporta.
I think after today, if I had to bet money on it,
Elijah Royo is a second round pick in the NFL draft.
Yeah, I think you're right on that.
So he's definitely a huge winner.
Mason Taylor absolutely looked apart from LSU as well.
Your thoughts on Taylor.
Taylor, man, his tape is funny because LSU didn't really go out of their way
to utilize him in any way, shape, or form.
So I've heard people talk about Mason Taylor as more of the in-line, you know, block.
Didn't look like that today.
He had some nice catches.
Exactly.
Downfield, too.
Like legit separation downfield.
get him on a two-way go post-corner.
He's going to smash your safety.
So I absolutely love that.
I thought he looked awesome.
And he has the lineage.
This is Jason Taylor's son.
Jason Taylor was a big-time edge rusher in Miami,
upper-level athlete at the defensive end position.
And I'll be interested to see Mason Taylor's testing numbers
because he ran very well,
and he's an absolute unit at tight end.
There was one more sleeper tight end,
and you and Joe Dolan had a chance to talk with Thomas Fedon
of Nebraska. I'm with Nebraska tight end Thomas Fidone and Thomas.
One of the things that when noticed in the stands was this guy with these long legs,
long arms, big guy, you were turning some heads out there. Well, how's the week been
for you so far? It's been fun, you know, surrounded by, you know, the best in the country,
just being able to, you know, elevate my, you know, not elevate, but just be around
guys with similar standards and, you know, just be able to, you know, be around people
like mindness who want to be great. And it's fun to be around guys like that just to
always being like a competitive spirit.
So it's good.
You play for former NFL head coach and Matt Ruhl.
Did the experience in Nebraska kind of prepare you for this week
and what you're doing with these NFL staffs?
Absolutely so much.
I was just talking to Coach Ruhl, he was here
and I was kind of talking to him about just the play style, playbook.
The way we ran things in Nebraska and the offense
that he brought over and kind of just the terminology,
it's all extremely similar.
So it helped translate into the practices and learning the playbook.
Hey, what's up, man? I'm Brett.
Hey, so you got a ton of length on you.
You're a good mover.
I feel like easy separation.
What is your favorite thing to,
favorite alignment to run routes from as a tight end?
Shoot, probably split out.
I split out, you know, kind of like in the number two position slot.
Be able to kind of have mismatches on like a nickel or, you know,
safety or linebacker if they, you know,
we're in sub-down sub-base or something like that.
So, yeah, no, it probably a lot.
Do you feel comfortable going all the way out wide?
Yeah, absolutely.
If you put me out there, I'm going to go out there and run routes, yeah.
What about blocking in line? Is that something you like to do?
I love blocking.
Yeah, I love putting my head on someone else and trying to take them somewhere they don't want to go.
Yeah, I'm a physical person and just competitive.
So, you know, anytime I get the chance to compete, especially in the trenches, I'm going to go compete.
Brett, your thoughts on Fadoni?
This is a guy who made a lot of catches.
We kept like, it was sort of like a slow drip.
Guy makes one big catch and we're like, okay.
And the guy makes another catch, we're like, okay.
And then after like the fourth or fifth catch, we're like writing down notes.
Your thoughts on Fadoni had only about 35 catches this year at Nebraska.
This is why the Senior Bowl is great, though.
Against other NFL prospects, he stood out.
Yeah, I think just 600 yards in his college career and four touchdowns.
I mean, really, you know, really limited production.
I didn't get a ton of exposure to him coming into the week either.
And so you just nailed it the way you described that.
It was a slow drip.
It was like, wow, that looked cool.
This guy is long and athletic.
Like you want height, length, and speed.
This guy has it.
Reminds me a little bit of Luke Musgrave from a couple years ago.
Maybe not quite that gifted athletically, right?
But like a legit, just length, size kind of freak.
And he kind of runs like a baby deer.
But man, he's fast.
Yeah.
And I think you nailed that, the baby deer thing.
Like the way he runs, it's difficult for defensive backs and linebackers to match up with
because he runs his routes a little bit differently.
He's got like different breaks, but he's got this crazy long wingspan.
And he showed yak ability on one or two catches.
So this was a player that definitely gained some value.
I know that there's an injury history with him,
but I believe that he will be a little bit more of a household name
when we get to the end of the weekend.
And one tight end that I am head over heels about in terms of his profile,
but a very quiet day from Harold Fanon Jr.
Yeah, it was.
He didn't really stand out in the one-on-one drills much at all.
And then he had two drops in the seven-on-seven.
team period. One was from the Canadian quarterback, Elgersma. He threw an absolute rocket right
at Hanan's face. Now, I don't necessarily blame him for dropping that because he was about 10 feet
away from the quarterback at the time. But you still got to catch that. Hit you right in the hands.
And so, but another bounce back candidate for a couple strong days, you know, coming up here,
day two and day three. Yeah, for sure. We know Harold Fanon can catch the football. So definitely
want to see more. But it's funny, Gunner Helm drops out. Harold Fanon has a quiet day. And we still
walk away, super excited about the tight end position. I think it speaks volumes to the quality,
not only of the players down here in Mobile, but to the class at the tight end position.
It's going to be a ton of tight ends drafted early in this NFL draft class. And make sure
and check Brett's article out. He's dropping senior bowl articles over at fantasy points.
You're going to be doing updates. It was a tremendous read. And check out my dynasty rankings as well.
That article is free. My single, single QB dynasty rankings. And I don't
have to make any major changes after today because Tess stood out, which was a nice thing.
If you had to pick your biggest winner from today, who would it be?
I got to go Elijah Arroyo for sure.
You know, he was literally uncoverable.
And, you know, whether it was downfield or even at the catch point, he had a couple of wins
at the catch point.
He almost looked like a receiver in the way he was winning reps, right?
Just super fluid.
I feel like he really elevated my opinion of him.
Yeah, I loved everything I saw from today.
So I'm going to Elijah Arroyo.
Arroyo is a great answer.
For me, it's Olly Gordon.
Just because we have like a, for me, it's like a big five running backs in this class.
And then a bunch of guys we were sort of excited about.
Gordon would have been in that group of players.
But I think after today at the senior bowl, it's going to be difficult for me to see
Ollie Gordon falling out of day two.
I think he is a day two back in the NFL draft.
Whether that means round two, whether that means round three,
there's a lot to be left there in the process.
But with that body type, with his performance today,
I think this is a player that's going to regain some of that value we saw for him in 2023.
This was absolutely a win for him.
We're going to be coming back to you after day two as well.
Make sure you're checking out of Fantasy Points, the Early Bird Special.
You can get a Fantasy Point subscription for 20% off and check out all of Brett's great work up on the site regarding the Senior Bowl.
We'll see you back here tomorrow.
