Theo Greminger and Brett Whitefield, live from Mobile, Alabama.
We're at the convention center at the Senior Bowl, day two in the books.
Today, this was the day where Jackson Dart made of cemented himself as a first round
pick in the NFL draft. Brett, how happy are you about the way he played and do you agree with that
statement? Yeah, he was a first rounder for me before the week after yesterday didn't do a lot. It
was kind of a quiet day. Today I felt like was a big improvement. The downfield accuracy really
popped. And then also they were, you know, juxtapose him to the other quarterbacks here,
Theo. Things I'm looking for is, hey, how confident is he throwing the ball in the construct of the
play? So when his back foot is hit in the top of that drop, the ball was coming out. You could not say that
about any of the other quarterbacks here, and it was consistent.
He just was in complete control, complete command.
I also want to throw this really nerdy note out there.
When you look at the run scheme, all the other quarterbacks got to work with.
For most of it was inside zone with some read option tags.
With Dart, they were putting them under center and letting him go to town with some power,
some counters, some misdirection stuff, which requires a much higher level of detail with the
footwork.
And I think that speaks volumes to his preparation and kind of his overall knowledge,
especially coming from the Ole Miss offense where he didn't get to do a lot of
everything was in shotgun.
Yeah, I love that you talked about that with the footwork and how he seems to be a quick learner
and showed that he can potentially pick up new schemes.
And I think it's good to be brought up Ole Miss as well because this has been a program where
it's been harder to evaluate guys in this program.
But with Dart, there's so much zip on his passes.
Yesterday you talked about the Moxie and Brett, it's another quarterback where you're spot on
and sort of see these things coming.
You told me about a year ago at this time that this guy was going to be a first round pick,
and now you're starting to see it from some of the biggest websites in sports.
So we're definitely on Jackson Dart, and that's a guy we're going to continue to talk about throughout this whole process.
Jalen Milrow, day one, not what we wanted to see, but you think that he had a strong day two, really finished it out well.
Yeah, and I think talking to you, you summarized it really well.
We don't need Milrow to be the best passer here because the floor is so high with the running.
We just need him to give us a baseline.
And I felt like that baseline was there.
He definitely had some mistakes today.
And I talked about with dart, when the back foot hits, the ball's coming out.
That's not true for Millrow, but the accuracy was much better.
I felt like he had a little more confidence, too, the way he was throwing.
And one thing I really appreciate is he's not doing the scrambler checkdown drill on every seven-on-seven rep.
It's like, no, I'm going to actually try to get through a read and make a throw.
And I do appreciate that because that's not something we always see at the senior role.
Yeah, and it's great to see.
we saw that interception early in practice and he just played right through it and then showed some
confidence, made a number of completions. And like you talked about, for fantasy football, the floor is
there. But we need to get that draft capital where he's going to get the opportunity to start.
If he gets the opportunity to start, this is a guy that we're considering putting in our fantasy
lineups. He's going to run a 4-4. He's got elite scrambling ability. And if we can see,
just like you said, a baseline as a passer, this is a guy we could really get behind.
One other quarterback that we didn't discuss yesterday, first of all, we learned how to actually
pronounce his last name, which is cool, but Tyler Shuck, which is an older quarterback,
oldest quarterback here, probably the oldest player here, you had some ideas about him as well.
Yeah, I think, I mean, we know this quarterback class isn't awesome, right?
And so I think we're looking for those tiers that kind of make themselves apparent.
And for me, I look at Tyler Shuck, he's a big kid, has a really nice arm.
accuracy and touch was there today, which is something I hadn't seen on tape necessarily.
But I think he's really established himself as probably that classic day three.
You draft him as a backup and then maybe develops into a starter down the road,
but for sure getting some cheap backup play out of him.
So I do think maybe he's worked himself into that early day three.
Fourth round conversation as a quarterback here.
No, absolutely.
It's a guy that a number of people are high on.
He's got the size as well.
So this is a guy who, to me, looks like he's going to be a immediate NFL backup
up quarterback.
Be interested to see where he ends up being drafted.
Another player that will be interested to see where he ends up going in terms of draft
capital, in terms of what round, is Dylan Gabriel.
And Brett had a chance to sit down with Dylan.
Well, not really sit down, but a walk and talk with Dylan Gabriel right after the first
practice.
We're here with Dylan Gabriel, quarterback, Oregon.
I got to ask you, third and five, you need to move the chains.
What's your favorite route to throw?
Yeah, I like giving the autonomy and trust to my receivers.
some sort of option route with a progression backside.
You know, that's trusting in my teammate,
but also trusting one another and all the reps we put in.
So I'm definitely letting him go be a baller
and then putting it on it when he needs it.
Yeah.
Last question.
Quarterback, you model your game after.
You know, I think I get asked this question a bunch,
but, you know, I think I love to watch people of similar stature
and Baker Mayfield, Kyle Murray, Tua, you know, Brock Purdy,
guys who've had success at that,
NFL level. And, you know, I watch those guys and admire them because, you know, great quarterbacks,
great winners, great competitors. That's what the quarterback position is all about in precision,
details, accuracy, anticipation. So I want to be around people that value that and don't give
a shit about anything else. Awesome. Thank you so much. Thank you. Theo Graminger and Brett Whitefield,
Senior Bowl, day two recap. Got to talk about Ollie Gordon. Day one, we were very, very impressed by
him. I had a chance to stand next to him on the field and you see him from the bleachers, Brett,
and he looks big. And then you stand next to him and he's got like tight end size. He's every bit
233 carries it very, very well. I think that after what we see in the last two days, this is a guy
who we thought was going to get drafted on day two. I think it could be a second round draft pick.
Yeah, I'm vibing with you on that. I made the joke yesterday. If you put a black jersey on
him and had him staying with the defensive ends, he would fit right in. Like, he's that big,
that much mass. He just, it sounds so cliche, but he just looks the part, even in pass per today,
he's so stout. It's like, if you don't get a legit jump on him, he is going to stuff you as a
linebacker coming off a green dog or, you know, a delayed blitz or something. So,
really like what I see. And then I thought he showed some fluidity in the past catching drills
today. If you know, like stuff you wouldn't normally expect, a little shake to his route running.
Now, it's not perfect by any means. You're not ever going to expect him.
to be a past game weapon, right?
But I think he's showing that he has a baseline as a receiver.
And the hands look nice too.
And I think that's a big plus for him.
Yeah, with that profile and that size,
we know he's got the ability to handle volume.
If he can become like a 40 catch-a-year guy,
then you're talking about that fantasy floor going higher and higher,
big-time, big-time player and really, really shining in a deep group of running backs.
I think if we had to do our all-sener bowl team,
there would be some arguments to be made.
but one argument that wouldn't be made is Ollie Gordon. You pencil him in right at the RB1.
A great thing about the Senior Bowl is we get to see guys from smaller schools that might be a little bit of a mystery to us coming in.
A guy who certainly earned some praise and as looked apart is Marcus Yarns of Delaware.
This is a player that we knew he had that long touchdown run against Penn State.
We knew he was going to catch the football.
But he's been one of the more impressive past catchers here at the running back position.
Yeah, I had zero exposure to yarns coming into the week.
So for me, I was like brand new eyes on him.
And then I've since watched some, but the route running and the hands,
I mean, he almost looks like a little slot receiver out there playing running back.
Like, he's very effective in the past game.
I'm not sure what that ever amounts to from a fantasy standpoint.
I think he needs right landing spot.
Maybe you're looking for that like the theoretic kind of career out of him.
I think that's the ceiling for him from a fantasy standpoint.
But definitely a guy who's going to be valuable to some NFL teams.
Yeah.
And we talked about this, and I think people listening in on the podcast who maybe didn't get a chance to see anything from the Senior Bowl, and they're like, what level is this player at?
Just to give you some context, he's better than Dylan Lobby, who last year was a sixth round pick.
He's better than Isaiah Davis, who was, correct me from wrong, a fifth round pick last year.
And he's certainly much better than Jaden Sherden, who wasn't drafted.
So like the last three smaller school running backs to sort of come into the discussion,
yarns is ahead of all those guys and by a kind of clear mark.
So I think for me it's another thing with the draft capital.
I'll be interested to see some of the athletic testing numbers,
but this is a guy that looks very, very natural as a receiver.
Another player who continues to shine as a receiver and as a runner,
and if I was putting together an all senior bowl team,
it would be Ollie Gordon at the RB1, which we could have predicted coming in, and the RB2 spot for me would be Brashad Smith.
I mean, this was been a tremendous wins from him.
Yesterday we talked a lot about how good he looked in the one-on-one pass-catching drills and how he surprised us as a runner.
But Brett, you saw some great things in pass protect.
Yeah, to be really good in pass protection as a college running back is tough because they practice it literally for three minutes a week.
most offenses spend zero time on it.
So to have refined skills already, for one, it takes a willingness.
It's a mentality, it's a culture thing.
You got to be willing to stick your face in a fan.
We saw that from today.
He was coming up and hitting.
And then, too, the technique actually looked good.
Hand placement was good.
He's not lunging at targets.
He's moving his feet and getting in front of guys.
I felt really good about what I saw.
And I think from day one in the NFL, this guy turns into a, you know, he can handle all of the
passing down work if he lands in a spot that allows him to do so.
He's that good.
Plus, he's going to give you a little juice as a runner.
Yeah, and we brought up the 200-pound weight, which if we were having this discussion six years ago,
it would have been more of a maybe that's a red flag.
But today's NFL with the running back by committee backfields,
Breschard Smith is a high-value touch guy at the next level.
These are the kind of guys that have produced for us in fantasy.
And when you talk about the 200-pound backs, you're talking about James Cook-sized backs.
Bucky Irving, sub 200 pounds.
So this could, if you're looking for a kind of this year as Bucking
a good bet might be Breschard Smith because he's elusive, he's a great pass catcher.
And like Brett said, he's going to be able to get on the field with those pass
protection skills.
And one other thing, Brett, that I think is interesting, and I'll be interesting to hear your
thoughts about this, but the last two running backs that we've talked about in the process
in years past that were wide receiver to running back conversions, were Antonio
Gibson and Tyrone Tracy. Certainly he's not the same as those guys, but it's a little bit of room to
grow as a running back just based on his limited sample size playing the position predominantly.
Yeah, another name I'll throw you too is I think he's kind of like a supercharged Kenny Gainwell.
And I think in the right system, the right opportunity, Kenny Gainwell has been an effective player
at times. I think I think Breschard Smith is better than that. So, you know, what, Gainwell is with
fourth round pick. Yeah. So I think that.
role is easy for him and I you know I think he's much more valuable than a guy like that yeah definitely a
big big uh few days for breshard smith another player who we were really excited about coming in
came in at 220 we talked about yesterday about how this was a massive win uh for devon neal
at the way in yesterday it wasn't like we walked away with anything negative to say but it's
there wasn't that many flash plays today i think devon neal showed a lot
he looked really, really good on a run or two.
He's very, very well built.
This is a player that's kind of easy to like for fantasy.
Yeah, and it's hard to evaluate the run game stuff when they're not tackling.
But one thing you can evaluate is burst and acceleration.
And he looked more decisive today with some of the runs, some more outside zone stuff,
where he just put his foot in the ground and go.
He was winning the edge, like where nobody was touching him.
I mean, he was outrunning everybody.
I thought he looked great, looked explosive, looked more confident.
He even talked about that.
the confidence was there today, maybe not so much yesterday.
And then the past drills, like, that's really what really I thought he would dominate this week.
As is a pass catcher, we didn't see much yesterday.
He was kind of quiet, right?
And today he kind of stepped up, had a couple big wins, had a wheel route he caught,
also broke off on like a choice route where he just snapped the linebacker off at his knees.
So really positive stuff from Neil.
And John Hansen had a chance to talk to Devin Neal, and we're going to play that for you right now.
We are here at the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl with Devin Neal.
of Kansas. What's up, man? How are you? How's the week so far?
We've been awesome. I'm doing great.
You know, I'm loving the competition and just getting better each and every day.
And, you know, being coached by NFL coach, it's been amazing.
Our guy, Brent Whitefield, there he is. He draws, he got a couple comps for you.
A little Alvin Camara, which is, hey, hey, right? Enough said.
How about a little Tage Spears as well with the...
I actually said that this morning.
Okay, all right. Well, let me tell you, two years ago I was here, Tadier Spears put on a show.
Made a name for himself here. How do you feel you're doing in terms of,
you know, showcasing yourself here at the
senior bowl. I mean, for me, a big
part of my game is being versatile, and
I think I've shown that so far.
Today was the first day we did pass pro,
and I think I held my own. I did pretty good.
I know that's a doubted part of my game,
but especially if you go back and look at the tape this year,
you saw I made tremendous strides in that,
and then, you know, breaking off a couple big runs a day,
and just having confidence in that,
and then being able to route run as well.
So just showing the ability to do it all,
and it's been big for me, and I think I've done well so far.
Is that, like, the biggest thing
you can show as a running back here, the receiving chops?
Absolutely.
I mean, I think just being versatile in general is the biggest thing that, you know,
coaches and GMs are looking for out of their running backs.
And so I believe that I bring that most in my game.
And you can look back at the tape and see that I bring a lot of different things to the game.
And, you know, I'll be happy to go anywhere and have them utilize me in that way.
Three-down skill set.
And when you transition to the NFL, you're in a game and you're about ready to beat someone.
How would you rather beat them?
make them miss, run past them, or buy them, or run over their ass.
Oh, I'm a make you miss type of guy.
I love it.
I love it.
For sure.
I've always been the jittery type when I'm growing up, and I never lost that.
So I'm going to make you miss guy.
Any blocking scheme that you're more comfortable with as your transition to the NFL?
You do it all?
Yeah, I mean, for me, we do it all.
Just because at Kansas, you know, we did it all.
We did outside zone.
We did mid zone.
We did tight zone.
We did, you know, gap scheme, you know.
But I'm a sucker for some gap scheme.
But I also love that.
I also love outside zone, too.
So those are two things I think I really excel at,
but I don't think there's anything that I can't do when it comes to the run scheme.
We brought up to Taji Spears' comp.
Do you look at a player in the league now or in the recent,
like you kind of model your game after you see himself in?
I mean, for me, I like to look at what running backs do well,
and I try to imitate that in a way.
So I don't necessarily try to run like people,
but I look at guys like Joe Mixing how well he set up his blocks.
And then you look at Alvin Kumar, like you mentioned.
and, you know, his contact balance and how well he is out of the backfield
and other guys like Christian McCaffrey well.
Like, those are the best.
And, you know, I try to imitate, you know, the route running and all the things that they do
and how versatile they are.
So it's kind of a blend.
I watch a lot of tape on different running backs because we had access to it.
So it was awesome.
You watch a lot of tape preparing to be a running back, understanding all the defenses,
recognition, things like that.
Like, it's like underrated.
People don't talk about that.
Yeah, I mean, I think a big part of my game is my preparation.
And, you know, as much as you can do to prepare, it slows the game down for you
It makes you just run faster and react.
And so everything is not going to be blocked up perfect,
but for the most part, you can kind of understand where guys are,
depending on leverage and what front they come out in
or what type of backers is this and stuff like that.
So I think it's really important to be prepared for each day.
Do you plan on playing in the game?
Because a lot of these guys are pulling out now, you know?
I plan on playing the game and, you know, being a competitor
and, you know, seeing what's that.
How about the combine?
Anything in particular you're looking to stand out,
the gauntly drill, the hands, the cone, the three cone.
What are you going to stand out there?
Yeah, I mean, for me, everyone doubts my speed.
And I don't really know why, but it's just one of the things I want to prove.
It's another thing I have a chip on my shoulder about and just go work and run a good time.
All right, man.
Thanks a lot.
Awesome job.
Thank you.
You got it.
Welcome back, Fantasy Points, live from Mobile, Alabama.
Senior Bowl, Day 2, recap.
I'm sitting down with Brett Whitefield.
And a couple, like, six weeks ago, Brett, you talked to me a lot about Jack Betch and how you thought that he was going to come down,
have a very strong Senior Bowl.
This is a player that is really opening some eyes down here.
Had maybe the best catch we've seen at the Senior Bowl so far,
actually on a pass from Jalen Milrow on the sideline,
looks the part.
I saw Mike Tomlin come up and give him some props right after that,
so I'm guessing he's saying good catch.
But your thoughts on Betch, we talked about him yesterday.
Now you've seen him for two days against NFL prospect defensive backs.
Your thoughts?
one of the things I always stress about Senior Bowl Week is, hey, we're not thrown out four years of tape for three practices, right?
But can you add to your story?
And for Besh, coming from TCU, he was basically primarily a big slot receiver, that power slot, dominate the middle of the field.
We didn't get to see a lot of reps with him at X or Y even.
Today, he played almost exclusively on the outside in three receiver sets.
Would go to the slot in two receiver sets, but in three receiver sets, he's playing X.
And he's winning against press.
He's winning vertically, beautifully stacked.
this corner a couple times, gotten that blind spot, was able to break off a post or a corner.
And then you saw the contested catch win and double coverage that you mentioned, that catch of
the day. I mean, he had two guys in physical contact with him when he made that catch, came
out with the ball. So you're seeing the requisite physicality and vertical explosiveness to
really win on the outside. I think he's a complete receiver at almost, you know, 6-2-215.
Like, I really like the profile right now. Yeah, and it's another player where when you stand next to
him. He's very, very well built. And coming into the process, this was a guy that, like you said,
that, you know, was a, hey, this guy's going to be a slot at the next level. But I agree with you.
He looks like a guy who's versatile, who can get moved around, and he catches everything.
There's been no drops there, catches everything, great hands. Certainly a guy who's at least
solidified his draft capital, and I think he's going to continue to rise throughout the process.
Jaden Higgins is one of the taller wide receivers here.
Iowa State player.
This is a player you were very high on coming in.
I would say that today was a very, very good day for him.
Your thoughts on Higgins and what you saw today out on the field.
Yeah, it was huge for me, Theo, because I didn't think he had a great day yesterday, quiet day.
And I would say even some mistakes yesterday.
Today was the complete opposite story.
Had a bunch of big wins.
The downfield stuff was there.
That was another question for me, similar to BESH was like, hey, most of your good reps in college,
most of those highlight real plays came from that power slot position.
Can you go win as an ex-receiver and get off press?
And I even talked to him about his press releases a little bit.
And yeah, phenomenal stuff from him.
So, you know, that one go ball where he kind of chopped his feet for 10 seconds.
Like, I don't love that.
That's not super practical, but the fact that he cleanly got off the press and destroy that guy.
I mean, that's a good sign for things to come.
Yeah, and he's got the size.
and when it comes to Jaden Higgins,
we're already starting to see him get mocked by some people
into the end of round two, early round three.
Curious Brett, kind of not really something we talked about yet,
but when you watch him play,
where do you see him ending up draft capital-wise?
Because I think this is a very important one.
The hit rates for wide receivers who can sneak into round two,
certainly a lot higher than guys who go in like round three, round four.
Yeah, so coming to the week,
I definitely had that fringe second round grade on him.
So that's where I'm comfortable.
Now, whether the NFL agrees or not, I guess we'll see the combine's also going to tell
a big part of the story, right?
Because if he's going to be that consistent vertical threat on the outside, he's going
to have to show he's got the juice.
Now, he told me he's got the juice.
He told me he's going to run well.
So he actually said his best trait is his long speed.
So we'll see.
He didn't get the show it yesterday.
Today he did.
But, you know, if he goes out and runs a good 40, Theo, there's no reason he shouldn't go
in the second round because he has the same.
skill set. Yeah, and this is one where this wide receiver class, there's going to be a lot of
fluctuation with who wide receiver four is, who wide receiver five is, who wide receiver six is.
So I think Jaden Higgins definitely has a chance to continue to rise. Like Brett says, looks every bit
apart. He's six three. He's two fifteen, and he looks it. He's got long arms. And I think that
the experience he has is a slot wide receiver, that's going to really help him because I think
there's going to be different teams who view him differently as a potential fit throughout the
process. All that does is create more pathways to getting that draft capital. So definitely a
win for Jaden Higgins. Another player who we were both very, very high on coming in, Jalen Royals.
And Jalen Royals yesterday told me that he's playing at 80%. Well, if this was 80%, then Jalen
Royals is pretty good. He had some, not to get too technical Brett, but some grown-ass man
routes where he really out-physicaled the cornerbacks defending him in the one-on-one drills,
showed the ability to just dominate underneath.
Yesterday, he told me a comp for him could be Deonté Johnson.
I see that.
And I think that's actually a very realistic comp for him to kind of put on himself.
But this was definitely a win for Jalen Royals.
Your thoughts on what you saw out on the field today?
I will get technical with you.
So at Utah State, he didn't get a ton of press man looks, right?
like a lot of free releases into the second level.
Today he went out and he showed a fantastic split release of it off press,
showed a hezzy cross release to get off press,
both, you know, things that I really adore as a guy who evaluates
ride receiver play at a pretty high level with that, you know,
Fantasy Points, Data Suite, everything we're doing there.
So really appreciated what I saw.
When I talked to him yesterday, he talked about that release package
and that's something he's constantly working on.
So the fact that he has the skills and it just now gets to show it.
I love it.
He's got some dog.
him too he's grinding it out despite being 80 percent i love that to me that that's a huge like
character green you know green light all day long like this is a guy who's going to go you know
wage war all the time no matter what's going on i i love that yeah he's an easy player to root for
and we talked about yesterday about a couple guys in terms of like the the wins in terms of the wayans
jalen royals looks the part he's very very well built uh not as tall as he was listed at utah state
but he's tall enough, but very well-built.
And the way that he plays, this is a guy that I think is going to be very versatile at the next level.
And when we talk about production, elite production, his junior season, 15 touchdown catches,
and then this year just completely annihilated a very, very good Boise State team for 200-plus yards.
So we really started to see it today.
That's a guy that I also think when we talk about draft capital,
he's done enough that he's also going to be a second round draft pick.
if I had to take a guess at it.
But Jalen Royals really excited to see him on day three as well.
But the winner at the wide receiver position,
it was a guy where yesterday we talked about it,
we sat down before practice even started,
and it was like a vibes guy,
where I'm like Jalen Knoll came here to play.
And Jalen Knoll was a guy that I had kind of well behind his teammate
in my early rankings, Jaden Higgins.
But Jalen Knoll is one of the biggest,
winners at the Senior Bowl, period, at any position.
Continued to shine today.
Your thoughts on what you saw down on the field with Jalen Knoll?
Yeah, I would say easy separator is the best ways to describe Jalen Knoll.
No matter what the situation was, whether he's lined up at,
I mean, shoot, they put him at X a few times today, and that's not really his thing.
He's a little bit smaller, but he was winning vertically, stacking guys, getting in their
blind spot.
You know, all the stuff you want to see is a high-level route runner.
easy separator. And, you know, I said yesterday I hadn't got through all of his tape yet. And that's one of the
reasons I, you know, wasn't sure where to play some of my rings. But I finished the tape last night and
this morning. And I'm pretty comfortable saying I think he's a top 40, 45 pick. I think might even
flirt with the first round. When you talk about this receiver class, you know, we've got Ted at the
top. And then after that, it's pretty much question marks across the board. I love Elyke Eumonor. I know
some people don't. It's not for everybody. But that second, third, fourth guy, that's pretty much
up for grabs right now. And I think, you know, Jalen Knowles is going to be right there in the mix
fighting for that draft capital. And I'm pretty confident he'll be a top 40 guy when it's all
sudden done. Yeah. And you brought up E. A. Manor, who's a guy we're both super, super high on.
I think he's locked up. But one thing that I thought was interesting is you've also been extremely
high on Matthew Golden. And now you're putting Noel where in context to a wide receiver like
golden. Yeah, they'll be.
tight in my rankings for sure, probably even next to each other. But I just work in the raw
numbers. I have a numeric scoring system, zero to 100, four main buckets that are all weighted.
I think Noel actually is going to score better. So, you know, fringe first round, early
second round score for me, where Golden was more mid-second round score for me.
And do you have an NFL comp at this point for Jalen Knoll? I thought you had a really,
really fun one. But once you say it, the hype levels are going to be insane.
Yeah, and so I'll cause people. When I give out a comp, it's not a ceiling floor thing. It's a play style.
It's a hey, when I watch this guy, it reminds me of this guy. So the name I'll throw out as Amonra St. Brown.
I felt like I was watching Amonrae St. Brown today when I was watching Jalen Nolan practice, not saying he's going to hit Amonra levels in the NFL.
He might when I told him that was my comp for him. He was very enthusiastic about that.
But, you know, yeah, so play style comp though, he plays very similarly to Amonra.
And we're getting tremendous access talking to a lot of these young men on the way to the NFL.
And Brett had a chance to talk to Jalen Knoll.
We're going to play that for you right now.
All right, what's up, man?
I'm Brett Whitefield.
We got Jalen Noel, Noel.
Yes, sir.
Iowa State receiver.
Hey, I want to ask you, you are awesome getting off the line of scrimmage.
What is your favorite release type when you got press?
Really a speed release.
I feel like getting guys on their hills, being able to just win quick is one of the big things in my game,
if I can leave a guy behind, it's very hard for him to catch up.
I heard you talking to someone earlier, but I want to ask you again, you know,
third and five, you have to have a go-to route.
We've got to get that first down to what you're going with.
Yeah, I'm going with a choice route.
Lean on my intelligence of the game, whether it's zone, man,
being able to break out against man, possibly break in if we're getting a hot coverage.
I mean, if it's zone, knowing where the sticks are and sitting down in the zone.
I know you can play outside and in.
I know you can play outside and in.
If you were to sell NFL teams on your ability to play on the outside and inside, what would you say?
Just watch the tape from today.
Let's go.
Let's go.
Last thing, you model your game after somebody, I'm sure.
Who do you got?
Yeah, I would say a couple of guys, Jalen Wado and Jordan Addison.
Jalen Wado, very athletic, very good at the line of scrimmage, wins quick at the line of scrimmage, go up and get the ball.
And then Jordan Addison, very fluid in his route running, just a really clean route runner and great hands.
I sat in the stands when I was watching.
I felt like I was watching an Amunrah clone.
How does that make you feel?
Oh yeah, to be compared to Amara, probably top five receiver in the league, and he's a competitor.
I feel like that's a great guy to be compared to.
Awesome.
Thank you so much.
Welcome back, Fantasy Points, live from Mobile, Alabama.
We're at the convention center of the Senior Bowl.
A player coming in that we were both super excited about, one of the natural pass catchers at the tight-end position,
Harold Fannin Jr. of Bowling Green, video game-like numbers this past season.
1,500 receiving yards, over 117 receptions, just silly, silly production.
Yesterday, though, it was a quiet day for him.
I think today we saw what we wanted to be excited about.
He looked very, very good catching the ball, had a couple of great reps.
Your thoughts on Fannin Jr.
Yeah, the route running and technical aspect of what he does, I felt like pop today versus
yesterday for sure.
You saw some easy separation wins, especially when he was on a linebacker.
A couple safeties, you know, it was a little harder for him to win.
But I think the thing for me is I'm really trying to settle where he's going to be in my score.
And I think one thing that's apparent is he probably doesn't have that linear explosiveness I thought initially to go win the seam and constantly be a seam stretcher.
But the route running technique is for sure there.
To me, that is evident.
I felt like despite the drops yesterday, too, his hands are really, really good.
So, yeah, very positive for me today.
Like, shoot, I chart, I kind of like loosely chart all their reps.
and I think I had him down.
I think he lost one rep.
All his one-on-ones and seven-on-seventh-on-sevenths and I think he lost one rep.
So that's saying a lot in comparison to yesterday.
Yeah, for me with Fanon Jr.,
I think there's probably already an NFL team that's fallen in love with the profile.
And even though we see other tight ends rising up,
if Fanon Jr. gets the necessary draft capital and he lands with a team who's going to use him
as they should, a move tight end, a guy who can be a mismatch,
then I think he's going to thrive.
I mean, think about a guy like a Johnny Smith.
John who Smith gets to Miami and has the best fantasy season of his career.
There's been other seasons where he's been sort of a fantasy afterthought.
So Fanon Jr. is one that we definitely want to keep an eye on.
Brett, I'll also be interested to see his testing numbers in Indianapolis at the Combine as well.
At that sub 240, we want to see him run well.
Would you agree on that as well?
Yeah, we want to see him run well.
For me, if he gets to 4-6 or better, I'm going to be elated.
He pushes much higher than that.
That's going to be a red flag for me.
Yeah, and one tight end who is absolutely skyrocketing,
Elijah Arroyo.
We talked about him yesterday as a massive day one winner.
Today, it was just more of the same.
He absolutely looks the part.
This is a Sunday player among Sunday players,
runs great routes, he's got the body,
continues to catch everything in sight.
One interesting thing is,
Miami used him a lot as an inline tight end,
but he seems like a vertical mismatch at the next level.
Looked like Trey McBride out there on a couple of those routes.
Yeah, I think that speaks volumes, right?
Because if we're being real right now,
for that fantasy production you all are looking for,
you want an every down player.
You don't want him coming off the field.
So Arroyo being able to line up in line and in the slot and out wide,
that just speaks to his versatility and the fact that he doesn't have to come off the field.
So shoot, I was watching some tape.
him this morning and I was really impressed with the run blocking stuff. I'm in fact I'm going to
tweet a video as soon as we're done here of Elijah crushing a defensive end on a kickout block.
So all that to say like I think he's the complete package. I want to throw something at you.
Let's go back and forth here. Colson Loveland is a guy who's constantly being mock top 20.
If I were to list out every single trait for a tight end right now, I'm not sure what Colson
does better than Elijah Arroyo, but I know there's some things that Elijah Arroyo does better than
Colson Loveland. I'm getting concerned there. I might be flopping these two.
in my rankings. Well, I told you before we recorded, I said, if you want to get the hype train
going, all you've got to say is you just bumped him ahead of Colston Loveland in your rankings.
So the hype train is officially started. It's Elijah Arroyo season. We're going to be talking
about him all offseason long. I'm not ready to bump him ahead of Loveland, but I think with what
we've seen over the last two days, he's tight end three for me, and he's certainly one of the biggest
risers. Brett, this was a lot of fun. Fantasy points is going to be back tomorrow at the end
