Starting point is 00:01:15 It's officially the start of the fantasy football playoffs. Which players should you have in your lineups, which players should be on your benches, which players can be weekly flex plays, and which players should be stashed? for the duration of the fantasy playoffs. Theo Greminger and Graham Barfield, Fantasy Football Daily on the Fantasy Points Podcast Network and Fantasy Points YouTube. Graham, is there anything more tilting than single elimination fantasy football?
Starting point is 00:01:52 This week really, really, really brings out, like, nature in people, but also it's like a sweat all week long. Yeah, it's, it's the best. I love this week. I love quarterfinals week. Congratulations to anybody that made it this far. It's been a very tough year, I think, from a multiple angles. Obviously, running backs at another massive season, but man, it was just a brutal year at receiver. And, you know, you and I were going through it pre-show. This looks kind of like a gross week at receiver, though we have 16, you know, teams back, or 16 games back, 32 teams back for the slate. So it's good to have a full slate. So it's good to have a full
Starting point is 00:02:27 played again. But man, I mean, it is, it is kind of a rough week at receiver. There's been a bunch of wide receivers that went from being like locked in playoff guy, locked in lineup guys to not being played this week, or not even being really considered. Drake London has already been ruled out. We'll keep a candle burning that Drake London could be back for like week 16. And hopefully Drake London's back for that week 17 game against the Rams that could tilt over. But guys that were like on the fringe that we talked about number of weeks this year. Alec Pierce, due to the quarterback situation in Indianapolis, he's unplayable, maybe unrosterable right now. DJ Moore has turned to a complete zero seemingly
Starting point is 00:03:08 like overnight. There's a bunch of these guys. Adonai Mitchell, do we want to roll with Adonai if it's Brady Cook behind center? So it's a complete disaster. Let's start out the show by talking about quarterbacks, though. Quarterback's an interesting one because there's a number of quarterback sort of coming on this time a year that are now very much on the streaming radar. I just recorded another Fantasy Football Daily episode this week where I
Starting point is 00:03:33 talked about risers. And one of the players that's been a significant riser the last month has been Trevor Lawrence. He's up to QB14 on the season in points per game. But if you look at him over the last four games played, he's the QB4 overall over the last four games played.
Starting point is 00:03:52 The Jacksonville offense we're having a lot more confidence in and a lot more trust into a number of the pieces, Lawrence included, are we using him in what could be a great matchup against the New York Jets this week? Yeah, we liked him last week as a good streamer. He ended up being the best streamer on the slate.
Starting point is 00:04:09 I think he's probably the best streamer on this slate as well. So just real quick, we have like a clear top 10, Allen, Stafford, Dart, Borough, Lamar, Mahomes, Hertz, Dac, Pertie, and May. You can put those guys kind of in whatever order you want after Allen. And then from there, man, I think QB12 to QB18 is like wide open. I would probably put Lawrence somewhere in that top end of the pocket.
Starting point is 00:04:29 Like you mentioned, he's been playing, you know, really well. I think since that Houston game, he's cleaned up his play. The box score wasn't great against the Chargers, wasn't great against the Cardinals. But there were some moments in those games where he played better. You look at, you know, the last six starts, he's finished as a top 12 scoring quarterback and five of those. And this is a slightly above average matchup. I think the Jets have done a pretty decent job, staying competitive defensively,
Starting point is 00:04:50 without Gardner and without Williams, but they're, you know, still allowing the seventh most passing fantasy points per dropback, slightly above average and schedule adjusted fantasy points allowed too. So, you know, between Myers, Strange Thomas, you know, ETN running well, this is the best this offense has looked all season. Great team outlook at home, huge favorites. I think Lawrence has a pretty decent floor. I still question the ceiling here, you know, especially in this game environment, right? Like how competitive do we think the Jets offense is going to be? That being said, though, I think Lawrence projects really, really well. Yeah, I mean, Liam Cohen seems like a put-it-on-you-type coach in a situation like this,
Starting point is 00:05:25 especially keeping the positive momentum for this team. They're first in the AFC South, and they're in the driver's seat with the Daniel Jones news. Shout out to the Texans. They'll have a say in this as well. But we've got this situation where they play Denver on the road next week, and then you've got the Colts again in week 17, who could be completely reeling by then.
Starting point is 00:05:46 Trevor Lawrence might have viability in multiple weeks in this. in this fantasy playoffs. It's absolutely wild times. And I think by the time we get to the end of the season, Trevor Lawrence is going to be a QB1 for sure in points per game based on just the way he's trending. One quarterback who we've talked about seemingly every week here and has been sort of one of the feel-good stories,
Starting point is 00:06:08 if you're a waiver wire, you know, someone who's constantly hitting the waiver wire streaming quarterbacks throughout the year, you found your answer with Jacoby Brissette at some point in the middle of the season. week six, QB7, and that started like a streak of QB1 finishes. Graham, he hasn't had a week this season as a starter where he finished lower than the QB12 overall. Now Jacoby Brissette, in week one of the playoffs, it feels like a really tilting situation
Starting point is 00:06:37 because fantasy managers have been using him week in, week out. Now we face this juggernaut defense in the Houston Texans. Are we going to ride the storm, play Brissette against the game? this difficult matchup, or are we going to pivot when it matters the most in single elimination football? Listen, you and I have probably been the biggest Preset fans in fantasy. I mean, the dude has just like been an ATM for scoring weeks, volume, every single week. This is the week to get off, though.
Starting point is 00:07:05 I feel pretty strongly about it. Houston is the only team that has not allowed a top 12 weekly score at quarterback this season. League low and passing fantasy points per dropback. They just killed Mahomes. They limited Allen a few weeks ago. Yeah, I think this is the spot. Texan's huge, huge favorites, like nine and a half point spread.
Starting point is 00:07:25 Cardinals don't really have that good of like an implied team total. We're playing Michael Wilson with confidence, though, man. I think that's like the big thing here. Obviously, Houston is a tough matchup. You know, to opposing outside wide receivers, again, giving up the league low in terms of fantasy points allowed. The volume has just been way too good. And, you know, you look at the spread,
Starting point is 00:07:44 you look at the fact that the Cardinals have kind of abandoned the run game, especially as of late in the last month. You know, we'll take our probably eight, nine, 10, 11 targets and just hope for like, you know, four catches, 50 yards, and maybe get a touchdown from Wilson. You know, the volume has just been so good, and it's so consolidated, Theo, between Wilson and McBride.
Starting point is 00:08:01 It's been awesome. Yeah, over the last four games played, McBride is the tight end one, and Wilson's the wide receiver one. So a big shout out to Jacoby Brissette for lifting our fantasy football teams for multiple weeks. And I'll say for fantasy managers who hated what they heard from Graham,
Starting point is 00:08:16 We have a light at the end of the tunnel with Brissette. Week 17, Jacoby Brissette against Joe Burrow in that really high-scoring potential game against the Bengals. Then we've got in week 16, we can get back to streaming him in at home in Arizona against the Atlanta Falcons. So this could be a short-term hiatus. Michael Wilson, I think you're just using with confidence throughout the rest of the season. He's so locked in from a target volume standpoint. And maybe this game sort of could get away from them. Wilson, they're going to keep feeding them.
Starting point is 00:08:47 Like you said, we love, love, love seeing that sort of level of consolidation. Let's pivot over to talk about a tight end who could be in for a big spot. Graham, I've talked about this with you. I've talked about this with Scott Barrett on School of Scott. For now two seasons, Mike Jaseki trends up in games without T. Higgins. The narrative is there. The narrative is real. Jaseki's sort of a big wide receiver anyway, not your traditional tight end,
Starting point is 00:09:14 sort of like a big power slot type tight end who just happens to have like tight end eligibility, are we going to see a potential Mike Jaseki blowup game this week or at least a Mike Jaseki top 10 tight end performance this week? Yeah, there's some good streamers on the slate.
Starting point is 00:09:32 I would put Gaseki probably like third best after Ravens tight ends. But yeah, I mean, you mentioned the splits last year were massive in games without T. Higgins. I think that still matters a ton. And then you look at the last two guys, games, man, 16% of the targets in two of these last three games, pretty strong. And, you know, Burroughs still playing at an extremely, extremely high level. Volume's been great with this
Starting point is 00:09:54 passing offense as well. Yeah, Gassiki's definitely on the streaming radar this week. Probably, you know, back in, tight-in one, I think, in this spot, no offense taking a, you know, big back seat in terms of routes now that Gassiki's back as well. So this job does seem like it's, it's totally his. Yeah, and the Bengals are going to be a team that we're riding throughout the fantasy playoffs. I think there's a chance the Giseki's viability continues into week 16 and week 17 regardless of what T. Higgins
Starting point is 00:10:21 does. It's an offense that we just want pieces of. We saw what happened last week against Buffalo where it was like a 39-34 game despite there being weather conditions. You're going to get Baltimore this week in Cincinnati a team that they already beat on
Starting point is 00:10:37 Thanksgiving. Then you're going to get Miami on the road, which is a difficult game, but one that Cincinnati can overcome. That Dolphins team has won four games in a row. And then we keep getting back to it. Week 17, we want to chase that Arizona Cincinnati game. That game just screams an over environment. Let's pivot back over to the Ravens tight ends, though. You've got the Ravens tight ends going up against Graham. Like, for as long as you've been doing fantasy, is there a worse defense versus opposing tight ends in the bagels? It's almost comical at this point. We've seen
Starting point is 00:11:12 teams that like, you know, funnel towards the run. You know, we've seen like teams funnel towards the slot, but we haven't seen a team literally not defend the tight end at this sort of rate. And just a reminder, this is Pat Friermith had his season high in fantasy points against this Bengals defense. Mason Taylor had his season high. This past week, we had Dawson Knox finish as like the tight end three overall. It's almost comical. we can use literally each and every tight end against this defense. You're exactly right. And it is the worst tight end defense I've seen in my 10-plus years of doing this.
Starting point is 00:11:52 I mean, by far. I mean, you look at the last game, the bills were just like, F it. We're not going to throw to our receivers. 43% of the targets went the Knox and Kincaid, and they both went off. Kind of visioning something similar here with the Ravens tight ends. Like you look at their last six games since Lamar Jackson return. Isaiah likely actually has one more target than Andrews. He has 26 to Andrews 25.
Starting point is 00:12:11 I think Andrews clearly has more touch. touchdown upside when, you know, Lamar gets inside the 10. He's looking for one guy in the end zone, but, you know, likely could have had a massive game in the spot had he not drop the ball or, you know, basically fumbled at the one inch line in their last game against the Bengals. But that being said, man, I mean, both these guys have like the potential to be the tight end one this week. Because like you mentioned, this is just literally like anybody could go out there and
Starting point is 00:12:34 have like 25 yards and two catches it feels like against this team right now. Yeah, and shout out to Chris Weck, who does our projections over at FantasyPoints.com. He's got Andrews clearly ahead of Isaiah likely. I would have had the two a little bit closer than Chris does. If you had to pick a Braven's tight end to roll with this week, would you agree with Chris and go with Andrews? Or would you roll with Likely? Andrews, yeah, just because of the touchdown upside. Like he could have two touchdowns on five targets. Likely probably has more yards though. I know that's kind of a cop out, but it is kind of how the way it's been for the last two years. Yeah, I think you can use either one of them. Absolutely. And I think one of them's
Starting point is 00:13:17 going to end up being like a top six tight end just because that's the trend is your friend in fantasy football. Let's just pivot over. You mentioned what Buffalo chose to do game plan wise. Do you think that there's a chance that this affects Zay Flowers or are you comfortably treating Zay Flowers like a wide receiver too? Yeah, I think he's a wide receiver too, especially after the last game. Like that was the game. We've been all wanting from Flowers. You know, the Steelers and a good matchup. It was another good matchup for him. And, you know, Bengals certainly funneling everything inside. Zay gets, you know, plenty of looks over the middle of the field, too. Let's take a quick break and we come back. Let's talk about a couple of wide
Starting point is 00:13:55 receivers that we can put inside the flex and a wide receiver that maybe we should sit this week right after this. Starting point is 00:16:16 out. Let's talk about a couple of wide receivers here. First of all, let's talk about a wide receiver that I think we should be very, very bullish on. And that's Terry McLaren. Jaden Daniels's already been ruled out. Jaden Daniels really should be shut down for the season. But Terry McLaren in games where Marcus Mariotta starts has been putting up numbers. And this is over a two-year period. Yeah, he has been. You know, you mentioned the trend with him and Mariotta, kind of continued this season, and, you know, the volume here is just going to consolidate here, man. Like, pour one out for our guy, Zach Hertz, just a brutal injury to, in a great
Starting point is 00:16:54 career, to end a great career for him, man. But McLaurian Debo, going to get all the looks. I think it's probably a slightly, like, relatively bigger boost for Debo, just because of, you know, where he gets his targets. That being said, though, a standout matchup for McClorian, just like he's going to get 25% of the targets are. more in the spot. Giants giving up the fifth most fantasy points per game to opposing outside wide receivers. And I think Mario-Ota's good, man. I think he's definitely one of the 32 best quarterbacks in the NFL right now. He should have a starting job maybe on the low end. Like maybe he gets a Tyrod Taylor type deal this coming season where he's kind of a stopgap
Starting point is 00:17:28 ish starter. But he's played really well within the system. They get a ton of first downs. They keep them, you know, they keep up their play rate like Cliff Kingsbury offenses typically do. I think Mario is right there with Lawrence. I probably would prefer Lawrence slightly, one-view-one, but this game certainly has some shoot-out potential. Mariotta Lawrence, clearly the best streaming quarterbacks on this slate. Yeah, for me, that's a situation where you're using Debo, you're using McLaurin with confidence.
Starting point is 00:17:57 And when you look at the replacement tight ends in Washington with Zach Ertz going down, John Bates, Ben Sinit, neither one of them looks like a player that's going to be targeted much at all. So it's going to consolidate the targets going over to the wide receiver position. I agree with you. I think Debo Samuel becomes the sort of safety valve around the line of scrimmage type looks that we saw for Ertz. Those lower ADOT looks, I think Debo's going to absorb a few more of them. Debo's going to get about as much as he can handle. But if there's a wide receiver, I think with a higher ceiling in this one, I think it's going to be Terry McLaren.
Starting point is 00:18:34 I think both of them, for me, probably inside of the top 20 wideouts, which is about where Chris had them as well. And don't go chasing waterfalls and trying to use any of these Washington tight ends, even if you're in a tight end premium format. Too many good options on the board this week. Another tight end, who we've talked about a great deal, and it's been very, very tilting recently. Aranda Gadsen has been completely invisible now for four straight games.
Starting point is 00:19:04 had a season, I mean, we thought week 13 was awful. Week 13, he had the one catch for 27 yards and was tackled at the goal line, two targets, 3.7 points in week 13. And I know I podcast with you, podcast with Scott Barrett, and we're like, it couldn't get any worse than this one. And then week 14 against Philly, Gadsden, 1.7 points. It's really, really heading in the opposite direction. Is there any hope here that things turn around for the playoffs,
Starting point is 00:19:34 or is this a little bit more of a, hey, we saw what Gadsden could do. Let's keep him on our benches here, and he's going to blow up in 2026 type talent. I think more towards that. I think this week it's just another, like, tough on-paper matchup. But last week I was off him simply just because the Eagles are racing tight ends. Like it doesn't matter who goes out there.
Starting point is 00:19:53 They're just that good, like Zach Bonn and Campbell are just that good. This is another tough schematic matchup. Chiefs are playing a lot more man coverage, and we have some significant negative trends with Gadsden. and he's been basically invisible against man coverage, only doing the majority of his work against zones. So it's a little interesting for this spot. And then I think I'm more concerned about the structure of this offense
Starting point is 00:20:14 than I am, anything about Gadsden and his talent. You look at their last two games, man. I mean, they've been under, in terms of their pass rate, under expectation in both games at negative 9 and negative 6%. And this is all because Herbert broke his hand. They can't go under center right now. They're kind of more limited in terms of the plays they can call. I think we saw last week
Starting point is 00:20:34 that defense just pinned their ears back and just kind of blitzed Herbert and really pressured them. You would think a similar game plan makes sense here in this spot for this Chief's team in like a must-win game. I'm off Gadsden this week.
Starting point is 00:20:48 I think really the only chargers we can play with any confidence and it's not even like a ton of it is Ladd, Hampton, and Vidal. I think you can play Hampton and Vidal together after they split snaps last week and just like I just said, I mean, you know,
Starting point is 00:21:02 why wouldn't the Chargers just lean on the run? They've got both their backs heavy. Herbert's, you know, obviously, you know, struggling in terms of his health with his hand. I think this is a pretty, it's pretty dicey for the Chargers, man. Like, they're a great overall team, but, you know, for fantasy, it's just kind of went the opposite way, really, for the last month. Yeah, I'm with you. I think there's a, I have a lot of confidence in Omari and Hampton.
Starting point is 00:21:25 I think that there could be a potential that it was a ramp-up situation. Also, versus the, the opponent, I think. maybe that was a little bit more by design. Vidal's done enough to earn himself touches every single week moving forward. And I think this is how the backfield's going to look next year as well. I know that there were certain like Naji Harris dynasty managers sort of keeping them an IR spot, keeping a candle burning for 2026. But I think it's Vidal.
Starting point is 00:21:51 I think they're going to move off of Naji and roll with Vidal heading into year three and Hampton heading into year two. I think that's a really exciting backfield. So completely there with you. let's pivot back over to the wide receiver position. One player who you view as a deep sleeper this week, actually both these guys are sort of sleepers this week. Let's talk about Darius Slayton.
Starting point is 00:22:15 Yeah, I think everybody rightfully will be on Wondell Robinson. It's just an perfect on-paper matchup for him. Commander's giving up the most receiving yards per game to slot receivers. But that being said, I kind of like Darius Slayton for a big play in this spot. He's been Darts deep threat guy. he's got a 13.7 yard average depth of target in his four games with dart. You know, Slayton is getting all the deep looks. Robinson, very, very few with dart. Been basically just around the line of scrimmage guy.
Starting point is 00:22:43 And not only is like Washington terrible in the middle of the field, they're also getting burnt deep, bottom five by completion rate over expectation and adjusted net yards per pass attempts on those deep looks. You know, look, it's a deep, like deep basically dart throw with Slayton, but I think he makes sense in leagues where you have to start, you know, multiple receivers. You've got multiple flex spots. Yeah, I think with this Giants offense, too, what we saw in their last game, curious for your thoughts on this, Theo, like, we didn't see any design rushing attempts from Dart. Like, do you think they are just trying to, like, keep him healthy over these last
Starting point is 00:23:17 few games to get him healthy into the off season? Because, like, if that's the case, if we don't get those design runs, they'll probably have to throw a little bit more, which helps these receivers. Helps your boy Theo Johnson as well. A hundred percent. I mean, I mean, for me, I don't know what to make of this one. And I think there's also a conspiracy theorist in me that says that the New York Giants right now have the number one overall pick in the draft. So I always think of the back of my mind
Starting point is 00:23:41 and just, is there going to be someone sort of in the background saying, you know, take it easy here? Certainly they don't want to risk the long-term health with Jackson Dart, but I think if they were that worried, he wouldn't be playing at all, especially after what James Winston was able to do in that game against Detroit. So I would anticipate that coming out of the buy week, they're going to feel a little bit better about Jackson Dart
Starting point is 00:24:04 and they're going to let him play his game. I think this is a game that New York probably wins, sort of at what cost? Is this going to be sort of musical chairs for the number one overall pick? I'll tell you what, Graham, if Vegas gets in that number one overall pick slot, I wouldn't be surprised if they shut everybody down for the entire season, a chance to draft Fernando Mendoza and figure out their QB spot.
Starting point is 00:24:24 But New York doesn't have that pressure now that they have DART. So I think it's really build on the positive vibes with your with your rookie quarterback, build a little bit momentum for next season, and go out and run a functional offense. And I think that's going to include some Jackson Dart design runs. I'm probably not as bullish as Chris on Jackson Dart this week. I have a start sick question for you. Sure. Jackson Dart or Drake May. And I know it's a champagne problem, but I get an FFPC main event.
Starting point is 00:24:53 I got a, no, it's an FFPC 350 team. I won the regular season, won the postseason, and I had to use like a fill-in quarterback this past week. They were both on by. Now I get both of them. Who are you rolling with in a, again, it's a three-week sprint. It's not single elimination, but I want a max score this week. Yeah, max score.
Starting point is 00:25:13 I'd go May. May, okay. Yeah, you're looking for upside. Hopefully he gets a long touchdown. Did you pop some champagne after your win, man? This is a major champagne problem. You know, I don't want to, I don't want to, want to brag, but it was a pretty good season. Shout out to Scott Barrett and I have two main
Starting point is 00:25:31 event teams still rocking. I got another main event team still rocking. Got a couple of 350s. The one we did with Rich Rebar, that team lost, that team lost, unfortunately, in the championship game. So that team was disappointing, very, very disappointing at the end. We finished second, so we still made some money, but not competing for like the big, big bucks. I got a couple of NFFC sweats, won my Silver Bullet League, have a couple of teams. rocking in the prime time, one with Nelson Sousa, split, one with Dan Williamson. Shout out to both of those guys. If you play FFPC, you definitely know Dan Williamson, you play NFFC, you definitely know Nelson Sousa. And then Nelson and I got our team into the New York
Starting point is 00:26:12 Super in like their final four. So that's been, that was, we were sort of like chasing it for a little bit this year. We're in the playoffs there. So got a couple of sweats here. I'll keep reviewing these over the pods next few weeks. But yeah, I'm tilting already, Graham. It's only three more weeks of the season, but I'm in a tilt for pretty much every day of them. Week one means a lot in these three-week sprint. So we want to squeeze out every single drop of points we can. And I'll say for my own process, anybody listening, I'm going to look at Chris's projections 100%. I'm going to look at Graham's article 100%.
Starting point is 00:26:46 The best start-sit advice available is at FantasyPoint. So we're using it in high-stakes leagues. I'm using Fantasy Points data for all of my data. So not just working here. I'm using the products, and I recommend them to you as well. Let's keep it going. One more question here for you.
Starting point is 00:27:04 And the hive is buzzing, but we're worried if we can put them into the lineup. And that's Luther Burden. And I'll give a shout out to Scott Barrett. I thought Scott would be a lot more enthusiastic about Luther Burden this week. But on School of Scott this week, he was sort of like, oh, man,
Starting point is 00:27:19 I wanted a little more out of Luther Burden. I think maybe he's the DJ Moore replacement next year. And I'm like, Scott, you know, like we got him on a couple of times. teams. Don't you want to put them in there? Couldn't this be Luther Burton Magic? We've been waiting for a spike week, waiting and waiting and waiting for a Luther Burton spike week. We had the one random one early in the year against Dallas, but that was not like a usage spike week. That was like he ran pure on like sort of a manufactured play. Could we have a Luther Burton spike week here
Starting point is 00:27:46 in week 15 in the fantasy football playoffs? I see you have them listed as a flex this week. Yeah, I'm pretty excited about burden this week. So it's like a two-pronged. thing here like it's a good schematic matchup for sure browns are playing the highest rate of single high coverage in the league at 67 percent burden has been awesome against those looks giving basically wide receiver seven in terms of yards per route run but at topped you know in terms of his efficiency obviously he's not played but necessarily a full-time role so it's not as impressive as some of these other receivers but still like very good efficiency on the small sample good matchup overall and he gets these manufactured touches man he gets a carry in every game he gets you know these kind of
Starting point is 00:28:25 short area targets where he can bust off a big play. And this is a, you know, a matchup here, man, where I kind of expect, you know, him to get a lot of these touches near the line of scrimmage. Browns obviously can pressure at a very, very high rate. We haven't had the breakout game yet. Obviously, it's been, you know, just 17% of the targets and back-to-back games. But no, Dune's a, you mentioned D.J. Moore is like a ghost out there, basically. Dust in the wind. Yeah. It's, it's brutal out here for D.J. Moore. So really, it, it's, it's, it does kind of come down to, like, Burden's their only chance at a big play on Sunday. It's absolutely tilting.
Starting point is 00:29:02 I think with Luther Burden, there's always a guy, always a guy. And this might be poor process by us in Fantasy Football Graham, but even analysts will do this. If you see a player put up big numbers in the fantasy football playoffs and then followed up with a little bit of something in the NFL playoffs, the recency bias matters a lot in how players are treated next year in redraft rankings by not only the community, but us where we're going to rank them. And Luther Burden's a player that, like, if he can flash these next three weeks
Starting point is 00:29:34 and flash a little bit in the NFL playoffs, damn right, I'm going to count that more than him struggling at the beginning of the season. So Luther Burden really, really an exciting one for us. We're rooting for him. And it takes a little bit of, it's a little bit of a risk tolerance to embrace using players that haven't had a spike week.
Starting point is 00:29:52 But there's been plenty of times over the years where we see these players just break out in the playoffs. Burden could certainly be one of them. And I think Chicago needs to get everything they can out of Luther Burden and Colston Loveland heading into the NFL playoffs to feel good about their chances. They're very running back centric right now, and they're getting a lot out of Swift and Menangai,
Starting point is 00:30:12 but you're going to need some of these young receivers to step up in a major way, especially with Roma Dunzee, dealing with health issues that could continue to keep him out. We're going to take one more break, and after that we're going to talk about what you should expect coming out of the buy week for the Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots backfields, incredibly tilting stuff right after this. Welcome back, Fantasy Football Daily, Theo Greminger and Graham Barfield.
Starting point is 00:30:39 Graham, the rug got pulled out from under us with the Carolina Panthers backfield a couple weeks back where Chuba Hubbard ended up outscoring Rico Dowdell. We'd left Chuba sort of for dead, but Dave Canales certainly did. didn't. Chuba Hubbard ends up pacing the backfield, scores a touchdown, was very efficient as a receiver. RICO Dowdell ended up getting a ton of touches as well. It wasn't necessarily a volume thing, but it was a, I would say, situational thing where Carolina really leaned on Chuba Hubbard specifically in the first half, and then Dowdell was able to overcome things and sort of play a little bit of catch up on touch volume in the second half. What do you think this backfield's going to look like with Carolina coming out of a bye week.
Starting point is 00:31:24 Is it a situation where Chuba leapfrogs Dowdell entirely? Is it a situation where it's a true split? Or do they return back to doing what they were doing for several weeks with Dowell pacing the backfield? A lot of fantasy managers want to hear your answer on this one. I don't think it's a situation where Dowell ever just like goes away. But unfortunately, I do think they split like a lot of their base stuff on first and second down.
Starting point is 00:31:48 It probably goes slightly to Chuba on the past. passing down and third down stuff. I'm a Dowdell stand. I've got him in a couple of leagues, and he's, you know, at least when I hang, like, we want to hang our hat on something here with that. He's gotten both of their carries inside of the 20. They've only had two carries in their last two games in that span.
Starting point is 00:32:07 Doubtel got them both. So there's that little nugget, but like, I don't know, man. I really, I really don't feel strongly either way. This feels like a situation where, you know, Canalis is just going to ride the hot hand. Like both these guys get six carries in their next game. maybe Dowdell rips off a couple big plays and, you know, against the Saints and he ends up, you know, getting slightly more carries. It is a super tilting situation for fantasy because we've
Starting point is 00:32:31 been banking on this Canales RB1 all year, really, and even last year, obviously Chuba was awesome as their bell cow. Good matchup here for the, you know, just Panthers run game in general, like they're going to be able to run the ball on the Saints, but I'll be honest, I have no, it would not surprise me if I, like, either way, if it's Dowdell or Hubbard. I do feel strongly, though, either way is not going to, like, lose, you know, a significant portion of the job. This might end up being Hubbard, like, 60, 40, but either way, I think both are our flex plays this week at best, right? Yeah, I see where we have Dowdell ranked, and I think I'm a little bit lower than Chris on him.
Starting point is 00:33:09 I think Dowdell's still in our fantasy lineups, and I think this could end up being, and people are going to hate this one, I think it could end up being game flow dictated, where if Carolina's in control here, and they really, really run the football. Maybe it tilts toward Dowdell being the leading scorer. But as we saw last week, I think the receiving work is going to go to Chuba Hubbard, which significantly lowers Rico Dowdell's ceiling, where Dowdell was actually very effective as a pass catcher this year. So if they're going to split it up and Chuba Hubbard does get the pass catching work,
Starting point is 00:33:45 then if this is a game that New Orleans is leading, and New Orleans, just beat Tampa Bay this past week, they're playing well. Shout out to our guy, Kellen Moore, Tyler Shuck playing well as well. If Carolina's trailing, this could end up tilting to a Hubbard game. I think both of them are flexes. I think both of them, like, if you're looking for a Mendoza line here, both of them score more than 10 ppr points, and both of them have a ceiling outcome that they could both get up to like the 18 point range. So definitely very tilting, a little bit of variance here. I do think they both have a fantasy football floor.
Starting point is 00:34:21 So whichever one you're backing, you've got an out here, but definitely tilting on both sides, Graham, especially again, single elimination football. And I'll say part of me that has a lot of doubtle, but I still have some Chuba, just hopes we get a little bit more clarity about the situation heading into week 16. If I can't use doubtle, I really want to know. I don't want to be, like, surprised in, like, week 16 or something like that. So really, really a tilting one. How about the New England situation?
Starting point is 00:34:50 New England, again, on their by week, we had peak Trayvion Henderson season, and then the remandre Stevenson comes back. What do you think it's going to look like coming out of the by week with Mike Vrable, how he's going to treat these two backs? This one's even more tilting to me. Like, the Panthers, like, they've just been kind of a mad offense all year. We've just been relying on their volume and their run game. Like, this is a very good offense.
Starting point is 00:35:12 and one lead back here would be arguably a league winner in fantasy, and I just don't think we're going to get it. Yeah, you mentioned the last game. I mean, Stevenson looked awesome. That was the best he's looked all year. The main concern, though, Theo, is like he took most of the passing down work over Henderson. Again, it's kind of a similar situation. If you want to look at, like, a little bit of, like, grain of salt,
Starting point is 00:35:33 Henderson did have the goal line roll. He out snapped Stevenson by five to two inside the 10. It's a much better matchup for these Patriots running back. than it is for the Panthers running backs vis-a-vis that Saints game. And, I mean, this bill is rush defense, man. They've just been terrible. 100 or more yards and 9 to 14 games. I think you play both.
Starting point is 00:35:51 I think these guys aren't necessarily flex plays. I think they're more like RB2s. Henderson, obviously, home run threat. Stevenson probably continues to get a lot of base stuff. I think this is like a true split. You got any other different thoughts here on this backfield, man? Because, like, I feel really strongly that if we got one of them, And it'd just be, like, awesome, but we won't.
Starting point is 00:36:14 Well, I hate it. That's, that's my takeaway is I hate it. Yeah, my Trayvion, my Trayvion Henderson bags felt like, they felt like they were going to be really, really paying off. And we thought maybe that the, you know, when a guy scores like 30 PPR points in consecutive weeks, you would think that the, the coach is like, you know, the, the less productive running back, the less efficient running back and the less explosive running back, who by the way, also has fumbled more this season. season. Maybe we should go with this young guy instead of him, but I think Vrable loves Remandre Stevenson, and I think Josh McDaniels loves Ramandre Stevenson, and I do think he's going to get enough work. I think with Henderson, if you tell me it's a split, I guess at this point I'll kind of take it, because Henderson can do a lot with his touches. The passing game work is
Starting point is 00:37:02 probably the most tilting, because we've seen Henderson thrive as a pass catcher coming out of the backfield, and he's certainly one of the more athletic and dynamic players on this entire offensive side of the ball. So I think with Henderson, I would probably have him based on talent, based on the potential explosion, and based on a game that we think could Trent tilt over, then I think I would put Henderson probably somewhere in that RB-18 range, but I'd have Stevenson probably in that RB-30 range. Is that a little too low for you?
Starting point is 00:37:36 It might be. think we're all going to be bummed. I think we're all going to be bummed about this Henderson usage. It was legitimately like Stevenson got kind of the 1A usage last week. Yeah, there's, there's plenty of room, though. I mean, this, like I said, this Bill's run defense has been bad, you know, plenty of room for both to go off. Yeah. And when we're looking at this, this week, specifically, like, there's a couple of, there's a couple of, um, players that we have circled. When we're looking at the Patriots Bill's game, we're saying, you know, the first time they played, it was a little bit low scoring, but now you've got New England coming out
Starting point is 00:38:11 of biweek. You've got the Buffalo Bill's defense who's been really generous to opposing running backs and just gave up 34 points to the Bengals. Maybe this game tilts up a little bit. I want to put players into my fantasy lineup from both sides of the ball. I'm starting May. I'm starting digs. I'm starting both running backs on the flip side, probably starting Kincaid. Definitely James Cook, Josh Allen locked in. And then you come to Khalil Shakir, who is oftentimes in fantasy manager's flex consideration. It's been really, really tilting, though, the last few weeks. He had the 17-pointer in week 12,
Starting point is 00:38:47 but that was bracketed by 0.7 points against Tampa Bay, 1.5 against Cincinnati, and then this past week against Pittsburgh, and then this past week against Cincinnati, he has 9.6 points. So we have a purgatory score, two scores that lose your week, and then a score that you're really, really happy about.
Starting point is 00:39:08 How does Khalil Shakir do this week? Are you going to use him in this matchup, or is he on your bench? Yeah, I'm out. I'm out on Shakir. I think it makes sense. They've just been rotating their receivers over the last couple of weeks. Now that we've got Dalton Kincaid back as well. Yeah, Shakir last two weeks down to a 52 and 53% route share.
Starting point is 00:39:27 It's just like not going to do it as the slot only player on the bills. And, you know, now Kincaid, who's been earning more targets than Shakir this season, And, yeah, is back. So, yeah, no thanks on Shakir. I think we're, you know, in the fantasy playoffs, like you mentioned, man, we're looking for upside. And, like, Shakir, to me, like, just does not have the upside anymore. And they're, like, you know, we were kind of banking on the volume being pretty good,
Starting point is 00:39:49 and it was good for a little while. But now they've got Gabe Davis mixing in. They've got Kincaid back, like I said. They've got Keon Coleman kind of coming back into good graces, maybe a little bit with the team after he made a couple decent plays this past week. Yeah, no thank you on any of these bills receivers. Yeah, I'm with you on that one. But one player that the two of us have talked about routinely on this show
Starting point is 00:40:11 is actually shaping up to be in the best fantasy situation he's seen all season long. And that's Woody Marks of the Houston Texans. We have Woody Marks ranked as an RB1 right now over at Fantasy Points on the week. And I completely agree with this ranking. The two-way ability here with Marks and the fact that he basically didn't leave the field when Nick Chubb left the game last week. I feel super confident that Marks has not only a really, really safe floor, but some ceiling outcomes here in a game that, like you said,
Starting point is 00:40:45 Houston should win against Arizona. Yeah, I'm with you. The floor has been good. The main thing with the ceiling is just this matchup. I mean, the Cardinals just got destroyed by the Rams on the ground. And this has kind of been a continuing theme for them. They've given up 90 or more yards rushing in eight straight games. You mentioned the big uptick and the roll for Marks.
Starting point is 00:41:02 They're huge favorites. It's like all coming together. here for Woody at the end of the year. I wish they would use him in a little more creative way. He's basically just bashing his head on inside runs. I'd like to see him get off tackle a little bit more, but we'll take all this volume,
Starting point is 00:41:16 especially in this spot. Cardinals huge dog. So yeah, we love Woody Marks this week. Volume is volume is volume. And we are very excited about Woody Marks. No real fear of a rugpole here either. I feel like very confident. I think Woody
Starting point is 00:41:32 Marks can end up having a really strong. We talk about these late season guys. Woody Marks could end up having a really strong late season, make the NFL playoffs actually do a little something, and then Houston's going to draft his replacement in the first round in Jeremiah, I love. You can already see it coming, Graham. Really fun stuff today. We got three more weeks left. Make sure you are just completely locked in.
