Starting point is 00:00:07 It's time to the Fantasy Points podcast brought to you by FantasyPoint.com. Welcome back to the Fantasy Points podcast. I am Dr. Odin Ports, Dr. Odin Ports, Dr. Dr. Odin Ports, Dr. therapy, medical analyst here at fantasy points.com. Welcome back to the Fantasy Points podcast. Today I am a lone analyst. I don't have Graham here to keep me honest. So you're going to have to keep me honest yourself. It'll be a little quicker this time. I just want to run through some notes,
Starting point is 00:00:51 some news, give a little bit more updates, a few more updates in context on specific guys. It'll be a get in and get out. If you want more details, again, Graham says it every week. Go over to my podcast, the injury prone podcast. I tend to give a little bit more context and paint a little bit more of a picture for those of you who want more context. For those of you who want the big overarching views and what to do, direct to the point, here we are. This is it.
Starting point is 00:01:15 Week 10. So let's talk first. We won't bury the lead. We'll get to who's out and some guys that are coming back this week and potential returns and what that means. But we won't bury the lead. I'll talk a little bit more about Josh Allen. So since the last update this week that we gave on Josh Allen, Sean McDermin,
Starting point is 00:01:32 The bills have been pretty mum on his status. He's not practicing. He didn't practice three days in a row. Of course, he doesn't have to be a guy that practices in order to go out there and play, but it doesn't seem like he's going to give it a go. Again, if you want to listen to more about Josh Allen and get the whole floor painted for you, paint the whole picture, you can go over to the most previous episode that I did this week on the same Fantasy Points feed.
Starting point is 00:01:56 Basically, Josh Allen, if we're playing this as what a team. should do, based on what we know, of course, I don't have, I don't have the athlete in front of me, based on what a team should do, this is a situation where you should shut down Josh Allen two to three weeks, let that ligament heal. They're a Super Bowl contender, obviously. Josh Allen, a MVP candidate. So this isn't something you really mess around with. The bills tend to be relatively conservative in their injury management, and it doesn't seem like he's going to go this week. Now, will he play in week 11? That I can't tell you again. I think in a floor scenario, Josh Allen misses about a month.
Starting point is 00:02:37 After week 10, he could come back at any point within that month, but I do think that it's fully possible he misses a month. Again, if you want more context, go back to the last episode. Usually this is where Graham would give me some color and talk about who to play, who to play, who not to play. I think the obvious one here that we'd both agree on is you have to play Stefan Diggs. Other guys like Gabe Davis and maybe even Devin Singletary to a certain extent might be up for discussion in terms of whether to start to set them.
Starting point is 00:03:03 It would depend on your specific scenario. Make sure you go to VainisPoints.com and check those rankings, those projections I use those every week. I love them. So aside from Josh Allen, we also have Matt Stafford who entered the concussion protocol on either Tuesday or Wednesday. They're conflicting reports.
Starting point is 00:03:17 Moral of the story is that it's, that's pretty late. Now, we talk a lot about how a concussion protocol isn't a time-based protocol. It's criterion-based. In other words, you have to meet certain steps. You have to meet certain goals and get through certain steps. And if you have to start over, you have to start over.
Starting point is 00:03:35 But even then, getting through the entire concussion protocol from a Tuesday or Wednesday to a Sunday is going to be a really tough haul for Matt Stafford. I think the color here is, of course, you start Cooper Cup. Everybody else is basically already on the fringe. I think at this point you could potentially think about the Cardinals defense if you're one of those sickos in a league with defenses. And other than that, this might just be turned into an ugly game. I can't see Stafford coming back before week 10, but make sure you're checking injury
Starting point is 00:04:10 insights to confirm that leading up to kickoff. Another guy we're going to talk about here, probably the most, the quickest we can get through is Aaron Jones. I think Aaron Jones might see a limited amount of volume this week just because he looked to suffer some form of a high ankle eversion sprain. It wasn't the worst thing in the world. He's practicing. He should be active in week 10.
Starting point is 00:04:36 But he has been limited all week. Just something to keep an eye on. Another guy that's really frustrating at this point, the whole situation with the Colts. And we would get into that if Graham was here. The Colts are a mess. It's ironic that last week or a little over a week ago, I said this is probably a point where you try to offload any Jonathan Taylor because this organization seems to be imploding and that was prior to firing the head coach and that was prior to firing the offensive coordinator that was that was prior to hiring jeff saturday and a 30 year old
Starting point is 00:05:11 who's never coached in his life this is this organization just doesn't seem to have a clear picture where they're going i think matt ryan could potentially start again at this point uh elinger obviously hasn't showed anything and really for the offense as a whole it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to go back to Matt Ryan that would open up a little bit more wiggle room for guys like Michael Pittman and Jonathan Taylor. But I'm still, if Jonathan Taylor goes off this week, I'm accepting the points, I'm taking the points. I'm still trying to offload Jonathan Taylor to anyone who believes in that organization and making good offensive skill, you know, offensive decisions moving forward. Jonathan Taylor could still suffer a setback.
Starting point is 00:05:54 That low lateral ankle sprain isn't going anywhere. I mentioned before this could be a Sequin Barkley, 2021 situation with the injury itself. This is just not a good thing, right? He's had multiple setbacks at this point. He's had, he had to fight the uphill battle of this offense being really bad. So that's just something to consider with Jonathan Taylor. I'm probably offloading him, but you have to start him. You absolutely have to start him and take on any risk. He's not a cash game play. He's not even really honestly a tournament play. To me at this point, I think you're just hoping and praying for at least average production from Jonathan Taylor at this point. And you're hoping and praying he doesn't return that ankle.
Starting point is 00:06:35 Also, another thing that might help Jonathan Taylor is that Dion Jackson is not practicing this week. Hopefully, we at least get a little bit more passing down work for Jonathan Taylor with Dion Jackson potentially out. This next guy, I want to talk about Kyler Murray. So Kyler Murray is an interesting case. he is having legitimate problems with his hamstring. He didn't practice on Wednesday. He was limited again on Thursday. No sign or no, I shouldn't say it that way.
Starting point is 00:07:08 It probably scares people. No update on his status through Friday morning, Friday after noon-ish. And we are getting news right now that Colts have already ruled out Shaq Leonard, Jelani Woods, and running back Dion Jackson for the rest of. Raiders in week 10. So there you go. Hopefully that leads to more touches for Jonathan Taylor. But Kyler Murray, a guy that you really want to watch out for this week in terms of cash games, in terms of probably not necessarily your season long lineup, but he is someone that I'm not betting on this week. The problem with Kyler Murray and his hamstring strain is that A,
Starting point is 00:07:55 it's a recurrence from 2019, so he's had this issue before. And B, as a a guy who runs around in the pocket and really their go-to jam sesh is well it's a jam-sash right their offense is a jam-sash their best the best of their offenses when kailer murray scrambles moves around in the pocket and makes things happen with his legs now dealing with a hamstring strain not great here are some numbers for you on kailer murray if you're thinking about playing them in cash um aside from their occurrence rates being the highest that they are in their first week back or playing through a hamstring strain. In 2019, when Kyla Murray had this same injury,
Starting point is 00:08:35 we assume it's a recurrence on the same side, even if it's not, still relatively comparable. In 2019, in the games that he was not listed, so 14 of them, not listed with the hamstring strain, he had seven rushes for 37 yards. Or he averaged seven rushes for 37 yards. In the two games, listed on the report with the hamstring strain in 2019, he averaged three rush attempts for 14 yards.
Starting point is 00:08:58 And one of those games in Week 17, he didn't have any rushing yards. And the sad part is he was only sacked once that week. So, stark contrast in 2019 from seven rushes to three, from 37 yards to 14. That also is obviously going to take away some of the opportunity, potentially, at the goal line, if he's going to run anything in. So in addition to the recurrence rate, Kyler Murray is not a guy I'm looking at in DFS, and maybe you weren't looking at him anyway.
Starting point is 00:09:23 But that is that on Kyler Murray. other guys sort of to mention here keen allen obviously still hasn't came back we don't really know what's going on with that situation you really just have to monitor it day by day david and joku's already been rolled out at this point he's i want to say two or three weeks i don't quite remember at this point so he's getting close since the average amount of mistime for past catchers here is about three weeks so guys that are potentially coming back here debo samuel i think we're relatively confident depot is going to come back he's again at a slightly elevated risk but coming off the buy i think he should be fine with that hamstring zeke nobody really knows what to do with zeke
Starting point is 00:10:08 i don't think zeke is a must start at this point i could be wrong again go to fantasy points com check the rankings but uh there are some reports that this is an mcel sprain but we have conflicting reports again we have uh some some reporters that are close to the situation some guys that i trust are saying this is not an mcl issue so there's not really there's no really telling exactly what this is and there's a very good chance this is the same PCL injury that he had last year. So, you know, Zieg's numbers are down. He's obviously not as good as Prime Zeke, but it is what it is at this point. If he's active, again, you might have better options.
Starting point is 00:10:46 A couple other notes here. Ryan Tannahill, full participant on Thursday. He's probably back. He's going to be limited in mobility too. I wouldn't be too excited to play him in any DFS lineups. Jahan Dotson. A bit of an exciting burner coming back. here. John Dotson did all right for himself before the hamstring injury. So he's going to be at an
Starting point is 00:11:04 elevated risk again. But that just about covers it. Again, if you want more in-depth analysis, a more detailed picture of some of these injuries and what you might expect, if you want more context painted for you, make sure you go to my podcast, wherever you're listening to this podcast, the Injury Prome podcast with me. I put one out every Tuesday and then I'm here with gram every Friday, have a newsletter. And then of course, of course, every Saturday we publish an entry report here at FantasyPoint.com. Don't forget about it. I will leave you with one, one more guy. And again, I've given these guys some love in the past. And I understand that to this point, they've just been meh. They've been fine for you. Chris Godwin's a guy that's been meh for you.
Starting point is 00:11:50 I think that Michael Gallup has been pretty meh. I mean, very mad, I would say. But we have to understand is these guys are nine months removed. Well, Godwin is about nine and a half months removed from his ACL. Optimal return time is nine months. He's barely getting to the optimal return time. So look for Chris Godwin to really take off in the month of November. I said that in the preseason. If you remember, I am drafting him for November, December playoff runs. Hopefully that's exactly what happens with that offense. Who knows what's going to happen with that offense, but anything can happen when you have Tom Brady back there. Michael Gallup, he's about a month behind. Chris Godwin. So Michael Gallup's another guy you can still consider trading for potentially at a discount before he starts to take off in the next
Starting point is 00:12:33 for him probably the fantasy playoffs when he's really going to be 100%. But those are just some sleepers. I would take both those guys before OBJ. I would try to target them if you can. The last one, he's another guy that I mentioned before that I think he is worth a stash, a buy. And it's Samanrae St. Brown. So in weeks in week's one and two is averaging 2.61 yards per route run, 35 routes
Starting point is 00:12:57 run per game. Then he had a high ankle sprain in week three. And then weeks five through seven, I know that's not necessarily fair because in one of those weeks he was actually rolled out with a concussion. But he averaged just one yard per out run. He ran just 11 routes per game. And then in weeks eight and nine, he's back up to two yards per out run, 31 routes per game.
Starting point is 00:13:18 Brett Whitefield, obviously our guy here, our fantasy points data guy who watches a film, you know, and he says it himself. He watches a film three, four times, and he knows what he's looking at, and I trust him. He says Monterey St. Brown looks good. He doesn't look to be limited from the high ankle. And even if he was limited from the high ankle sprain, these guys tend to be solid at least a month or with a month of rest and recovery. And we know that he might have came back too soon. So Monter St. Brown is another trade target. I think that he could boom here soon, especially with that route tree really narrowing down with Hawkinson out, Charkout, Reynolds has been officially ruled out. So Target, I'm on Ross St. Brown.
Starting point is 00:13:59 All right, that's all I got. I'm sure you follow me on Twitter at FB Injury, Doc. Let me know if you have any questions.
