Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey, what's up? It's John Hansen and Brian Drake and I are back with the Fantasy Points podcast. The week 14 review, we talk about slinging Sammy Darnold, kick and tail in Minnesota, Alvin Camara, crapping several beds. A pretty good week overall, some buzz kills. We were all over Amari Cooper returning to form with Josh Allen. We were all over Skinny Batman. Though I lost a prop, I'm still pissed off about that. But overall, a pretty darn good week. Drake and I break it all down here over the next 56 plus minutes on the Fantasy Points podcast. And as always, you're welcome.
Starting point is 00:00:41 All across the fantasy universe, we're recapping week 14 in fantasy football. I'm Brian Drake alongside the guru John Hansen's the Fantasy Points podcast. We're so glad you're with us. John, this was a really, really interesting week. Not only are we at the final week of the fantasy regular season, but you're talking. talking about pregame news dropping that just turns fantasy on its ear. George Pickens declared out. Malik neighbors news comes out, eh, he might not play a lot. We'll get to that. So people were wondering, is he going to be in or out of lineup? Ken Walker isn't playing this week.
Starting point is 00:01:31 And then as the early games progress, John, we got vulturing going on with El Jir, Isaiah Davis, Kendra Miller, injuries galore. We got a lot to unpack here as folks either punch their ticket or crying in their beers as they listen to this. But I'll take a breath. How you doing, my friend? I'm doing all right. It was a pretty good week. There were some frustrating losses.
Starting point is 00:01:53 I think for the most part, we were on the right track. You know, I will say this year has been less chaotic with all those things, though, with injuries. I've seen way worse where it's just like absolute mayhem, where you have like seven, eight, nine guys who, you know, come down to game time decisions and all that kind of stuff. So I thought it was a pretty predictive week, but there's one, and we'll go game by game. To your point that you've been making is we'll kind of go off of the order of my Hansen Sins article, which is probably the same order of everything else on the site.
Starting point is 00:02:27 I'll look at what I had to say about the key players, and we'll see how correct we were, basically. Yeah, this was a really big week for some folks, too. I mean, as we get into it, there were guys putting up career days in terms of Sammy Darnold. you see Josh Allen. We'll get into all that. It was nice to see our friends in Miami coming back and actually like playing a little football here as the dolphins knock off the jets, 3526. The funny part about this is if you've heard us guys talk about the dolphins for the past few weeks. And all we're talking about is John O'Smith.
Starting point is 00:03:02 He's like the new foundation of their offense. John and I are texting during the games, you know, shooting the breeze. And John's like, we're into the fifth season of season within season. seasons and John O Smith is dead. 10 seconds later, Janu Smith scores a walkoff touchdown in overtime here. I'm like, I did the old, did he get hurt? I'm like, what happened? What am I missing here?
Starting point is 00:03:24 Yeah. So John who does catch three balls for 44 yards and a touchdown all in overtime. Literally was goose sagging you out there to a monster day. And this is what we've seen out of Tua lately, John, is he's putting up a ton of passes, 47 attempts for 331, two touchdowns. today, hills involved, waddle's involved. There's a ton of A. Chan going on. So this is what we wanted. This is what we thought coming into this season. It's going to be A. Chan getting the majority of the work, catching some balls, and then it's Hill and Waddle just bogarting all these targets on the outside.
Starting point is 00:03:58 And finally, we got back to it. It only took us 14 weeks for America's favorite Coke dealer to dial up the right plays. But we got it back here with the six and seven dolphins. Yeah, I had Jonu as a matchup to exploit. Better lucky than not that came through. I was kind of feeling it to maybe be more of a waddle game. It turned out it was both. You know, I wasn't that encouraged about Braille and Allen, by the way. He did catch four for 38. I actually wrote up Tyler Conklin. Granted, he didn't do really crap, but he did hit his props over the catch total and the yardage. And yeah, I was kind of like, I guess, fairly agnostic on Garrett Wilson and Devante Adams, but those guys, kind of Bogart everything you know
Starting point is 00:04:41 Aaron Rogers looked I don't know I guess a little better from what I saw I mean threw a lot of balls completed a high percentage of passes another frustrating loss for them but yeah we'll see where we are with Breece Hall in a week but you know for now
Starting point is 00:04:56 Adams has looked much better you probably just roll with them and then Wilson you know it took a lot of Wilson lineup calls today on the live not calls but on the live stream I mean we probably told more people than not to use them but it's a shame that we were even asking a damn question, by the way, because we should be a no-brainer.
Starting point is 00:05:14 But maybe after this one, he is a no-brainer. Yeah, Miami cannot run the ball. So that's weird. They have no running game, which means Tyreek is kind of back because they're throwing it a lot. And Waddle is also back. So, yeah, that's about it. Not much else going on here. Very top-heavy, both teams.
Starting point is 00:05:32 Very top-heavy. The one thing I want to note is with this Jets backfield, everybody was excited at Braylon Allen in there. He did play 56% of the snaps. But this Isaiah Davis kid, he's another rookie in here. He played 52% of the snaps. He was in there for 9 out of 12, third downs, and 4 out of 4 snaps inside the 10.
Starting point is 00:05:53 And he scored John. So I don't know. We'll see what happens with Breeze Hall going forward. Again, the jets are 3 and 10 now. So they really don't have to rush him back. But I think this Isaiah Davis guy really needs to be a priority on the waiver wires heading into the playoffs yeah yeah i mean probably so i mean he he was a senior bowl guy that like every time i looked at him out there practicing i'm like oh this guy look at this guy there's not
Starting point is 00:06:15 someone to know you know many we're talking about i'm like who's this davis guy he's pretty good you know and then good in the preseason and yeah made the team uh he was drafted i believe right seventh rounder close to not being drafted yeah yeah i mean it could be an ugly a little bit of an ugly committee, but I think the point is to what you're alluding to, like, Brees Hall, yeah, yeah, you're, it's, it's sketchy. It's sketchy right now with Bruce Hall. Yeah. If I'm the jets, don't even bring them back, but, you know, that's just me. Let's move on to your Minnesota Vikings here. 4221, they beat up on the Atlanta Falcons. Falcons dropped to six and seven. Vikings go 11 and 2. And, hey, let's not bury the lead here.
Starting point is 00:07:00 This is the Sam Darnold show, Johnny. 347 yards and five touchdowns for your boy, Donald. Three of them to Jordan Addison, two to Jordan, Justin Jefferson, who went for a buck 32. And some of it was kind of, you know, second reaction stuff. He's moving around in the pocket, rolling out, always keeping his eyes downfield. If you streamed Donald with six quarterbacks off or you've just been rolling with him, boy, oh boy, were you rewarded today? So good for your Viking. here and man addison looks like a monster three just super games in a row now as he goes for a buck 33 and
Starting point is 00:07:38 three yeah if you read the article i had darnald as a top matchup to exploit actually i had him at qb4 in my rankings on the site i was also listed jefferson i i liked hawkinson quite a bit i played his prop it did hit he kind of underwhelmed but it wasn't that bad actually you know you know eight and a half points isn't too bad clearly hit the prop easily addison is a little frustrating to predict but man wow you know complaining about the ball jefferson's and i was too i lost a bunch of addison props i'm like come on guys like jefferson is getting all kinds of special treatment here you got to make you got to get this guy the ball a little more throw him some give him some you know make an edict every week we're throwing him six damn balls because because often he'll be in
Starting point is 00:08:29 single coverage are open because Jefferson's commanding so much attention. You like how once again top heavy, like no one else did crap other than the big three. So you love that. Aaron Jones did look good. So yeah, I was pretty much on in this game, except I didn't give Addison mad love. See what I wrote about him. But yeah, pretty good day. Yeah, it may not see a big play, but he seems blah, blah, blah.
Starting point is 00:08:53 And he was good against their coverage, cover three. Yeah. So it was like a, it wasn't like, oh my God, he got a start him, but it certainly was, it was more of a middling thing where I have guys in the middle. On the other side, man, I might, my top prop of the day was Drake London. I freaking lost it by two damn yards. Everything else. Everything else is right, you know, thought they'd have to throw a lot.
Starting point is 00:09:18 They did. I thought it would be a shootout. It was. I thought the quarterback would, I thought they'd get a lot of yards. They did. I thought he'd get 10 targets. He did. but you know the thing was I liked Mooney too if you read my article I had I gave a lot of love to Mooney in the article and London and but the thing about Mooney was like you just didn't know I wanted to play his prop I said that today on the live stream we did tell some people to play them but you know with that injury it's a little rough I actually wrote up Ray Ray MacLeod but one thing we also got correct once again this is the data thing Kyle Pitts forget it you know I was just looking at that and you've got him looking worse
Starting point is 00:09:56 than usual. Kyle Pitts. He goes one reception for 14 yards. I had a buddy in a league dropped his ass like mid game. You know, you can drop guys and he goes, I'm done with I'm done with him. Yeah, yeah. Done with him. Very frustrating. Big day for Bijan, 92 yards on 22 attempts. But of course, Tyler Alger's got to get a touchdown in the first quarter here. Come on. But hey, what can we say to folks about Kirkie though? Throws for 344, no touchdowns again, back-to-back weeks and another pair of interceptions here i mean that's a big yardage total on all that but i mean it's it's looking to be 10 times soon i think for kirkie got the raiders this week at the very least we're just hoping that he doesn't that he can support these guys i think
Starting point is 00:10:42 at this point i'd rather take what we saw today from kirkie than michael pennix as it relates to mooney and of course london maybe pitts at some point maybe even this one week pits actually against the Raiders. It was it was it was it was shaky but it wasn't as scary as as a week before but but as for kirke himself we we really need to find another option. No question about it. Hey good for your Vikings too turning it around on third down. I was beating him up on Twitter this week because their third down percentage is like the third worst in the league over the last three weeks eight to 12 this week for the Vikings as they head to the playoffs that's got to improve.
Starting point is 00:11:23 as they get ready to do battle with the lions and eagles and everybody else they'll run into in the NFC. Let's take a timeout on the other side. The Giants lost, but really, you Giants fans, you won. You won today. So don't go anywhere. It's the Fantasy Points podcast. All right, Guru, it's not often a team gets a field goal blocked at the gun and their fans celebrate the loss. But if you're the Giants fan, you are because you don't want the Giants.
Starting point is 00:11:53 go to overtime with the Saints. You don't want the Giants have a chance to win against Saints. You want to get a quarterback and you want a top two pick. And the Giants did what the Giants do and they lose 14 to 11. Interesting number there against the New Orleans Saints down in MetLife. Here's the thing with this game, Guru. There's a few things. But our guy, Shephti, before the game, put out about Malik neighbors.
Starting point is 00:12:16 He goes, hey, he could play less than usual. So I had so many people blowing me up now like, hey, do you think neighbors is hurt with this? hip and should I bench him and you know I'm nervous about him because the giant stink they could bench him and whatever it is he ends up still getting 10 targets goes five for 79 what what did you look like before the game when you and brawley were doing the live stream what kind of advice were you given on him i was we we told a couple people to start them most of them in fact it was one of those deals where you know i did the old knock him down on your depth chart so we we i don't think we told anyone not to use him quite frankly but he was always like if they gave
Starting point is 00:12:53 gave us six options and we need they needed three he was the third you know what i mean right yeah yeah i mean he was a tough guy to like truly back but i actually had him as a matchup to exploit in the article for what it's worth i said here's what i wrote by the way i don't know how they limited puka to limited pukin to kuah last week to just five for sixty one with a tutti on any targets but neighbors people's would would be thrilled with that you know and it was somewhat in that neighborhood. You know, five for 79, no tutty, but in the neighborhood, yeah, yeah. So, you know, I didn't listen to him as a must play.
Starting point is 00:13:34 I don't even know where the hell I ranked him this week. But yeah, that was a good enough of an endorsement. I mean, I certainly didn't panic. I had him at wide receiver 20 for the week. This was a game, too, where, I'll be honest, I played Slateon a little bit more than I probably should have. He goes two for 27 because I didn't know what neighbors was going to do. but we've mentioned before that we wanted to see a little more
Starting point is 00:13:56 on Tyrone Tracy in the past game. You know, he went 45 yards on the ground and scored, but also the guy had 10 targets this week, John, caught five for 38. That is massive. And that's really what we want to see. I don't know if that's a function of Drew Locke versus, you know, Tommy DeVito, but hey, I'm all for it.
Starting point is 00:14:14 That should be the Tiki Barber-esque formula the Giants used with this kid going forward. Yeah, because Drew Locke is really not doing a ton downfield. Their protection's awful. So he's looking to check it down. Theo Johnson, when I are, he's done. All of a sudden, Danny Bellinger, my guy is, is back, catches five for 45, you know, often in that checkdown underneath roll. Then yeah, Tracy, better late than never, 10 targets. So I think we can count on that. He's scored. I mean, it's a big day. We total a number of people to start him too. Yeah, I must say, like, there's something about the late week.
Starting point is 00:14:52 like the this is it like right before the game we we there's no point in the week where we've spent more time studying on the matchups than right before the damn games and i'm telling you our our our advice has been like pretty tight on that thing man this year like 80% on on all calls almost i feel like at the moment tyrone tracy's a top 12 running back on the week with over 19 points if you played the running back on the other side like i did in some dfs line who really let down. Elvin Kamara's 44 yards rushing really kind of just put a lot of air came out of the balloon here, John. He does catch five balls for 35. So in a PPR, that helps you a ton. But I thought Camarro was really going to do a lot more in this matchup. Oh, 100%. This is something that we were
Starting point is 00:15:41 incorrect about. I freaking had him an RB2 for the damn week. Absolutely. Major disappointment. You know, it happened. Kenjee Miller-Vulcher to touchdown from him. Yeah. every once in a while you just these schemes and the personnel they just don't line up right and you know what you would expect with proper research and data analysis it just just doesn't happen because it's real life uh and you also have an older guy yeah that was stunning i i did actually go in on a marquez quez valdez scantling prop that actually did hit thought he would do a little bit better but hey not complaining about it really in the fpi got me nine points not too shabby See Frost or Moreau out there.
Starting point is 00:16:24 I kind of did talk about Joanne Johnson today. It's so hard to back them. Yeah. You know, and I, you know, we were actually talking about it with, with Brawley because the Giants have been really good against tight ends, but I'm like, you know what? They might need him because he's, he's like a, well, he is a former receiver, wide receiver. You know what I mean? Boom.
Starting point is 00:16:45 And it came through. But again, what does that mean? What's this? How sticky is it? No idea. No idea. That's the problem with Joanne Johnson. You know the best thing about Joanne Johnson?
Starting point is 00:16:56 I started his ass at Flex in the FBI against Mr. C and he got me 15 points, baby. I went against him in a league. We're going to get to a line of decision I did in the FBI where it's probably going to cost me a Vic. No. Yeah. Oh, no. Oh, whoa, Mr. Kaplan in this in this Philly draft, it made a big comeback. Oh, with Cooper.
Starting point is 00:17:23 Oh, now I need Will Disley and Lamb. I should get them. I'm still 79% a favor to win. Never mind. He gave me a good game. Yeah, yeah, it's funny because that's the two leagues I'm in with Sirius, this one, and I'm playing them in this one, and you're playing them in the FBI. Also with this Saints deal, Derek Carr left the game with a hand injury.
Starting point is 00:17:47 I believe non-throwing, but we've got to monitor that. see if they want to bring him along. Otherwise, it's Jake Hainer out there. He didn't even attempt to pass in. I would do Hainer over Rattler. Rattler's awful. Yeah. You won awful.
Starting point is 00:18:02 Let's talk about the Eagles against the Panthers. There was two teams this week who were looking ahead to massive matchups next week. The Eagles and the Bills. The Eagles managed to scrape by and survive at home 2216 over the Panthers. If you listen to the preview podcast that we do and we put out Friday mornings, John, you heard me, I said the Panthers are going to give them a game. They're going to cover. And I said, damn it, I wouldn't be surprised if the Panthers won.
Starting point is 00:18:29 And they were Xavier Legget dropped pass in the end zone away from upsetting the Eagles in this one. But they didn't. So the Eagles moved to 11 and 2. Everybody was in on Barclay for DFS this week. And I said, be careful. I mean, yes, he got you 124 yards rushing. but he didn't score. Jalen Hertz gets the tush push. So that's, that's the ying and the yang of Barclay there.
Starting point is 00:18:53 If he doesn't get the touchdown, you know, his meteoric day just becomes, ah, it's really good. You know, I mean, everyone's going to take 124 yards, John, but. Yeah. Damn, push pushes kill you. Not like the, it's not like the McAfree or Camaro where you can, you're getting four to five catches every week, too. He gets zero. Zero. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:15 Yeah. very frustrating because if you read my stuff or your followed stuff on today's live stream i told 14 people to start devante smith skinny batman you did i heard it i was in on the prop it happened basically it happened you know what i mean like four for 37 was a little underwhelming. I wrote on the article, I said, I see at least one catch for 25 plus yards. And he got one catch for 27. And he scored, but he did not win the prop. But hey, I guess that that was good advice and help people out. So that's good. So yeah. So he scored 13.7 points. That's a solid day at the office. Elsewhere for the Eagles, AJ Brown, four for 43.
Starting point is 00:19:59 They just didn't target him. I mean, the entire first half, he didn't have a target, John. And this is just the state of this Philly offense at this point where it's all Barclay. It's Barclay. It's Harts holding the ball for 45 minutes and making a bad decision. And then when they have to, they'll throw some little pass and get a first down. But it's nerve-wracking if you own Brown or Devonta Smith at this point. Yeah, I mean, no offense to you and no offense to Philly fans. But like, it doesn't, there's some level of fraudulence here. The whole season, I go, this offense is, it's just too frenetic. It's too, like there's nothing.
Starting point is 00:20:41 If it's not Arkley, there's nothing. There's no rhythm to the game. Right. Their passing offense has zero structure, nothing. Right? Yeah. I mean, it's just, it's just individual plays. So, yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:57 They're, it's weird. It's weird. Adam Thielen, I did, you know, and shout out to Bryce Young. And, you know, shout out to you with that was a good call. Pretty sure I agree with you or totally knew, knew what you're talking about. But shout out to Bryce Young. Once again, played pretty well. Thielen, you know, that was a guy who was saying two weeks ago, hello.
Starting point is 00:21:19 Here we are. It's two weeks later. He's like all of a sudden. Like, I didn't pick him up like an idiot. I didn't listen to my own advice. But three weeks ago, I'm like, what the hell is he doing available in 70% of leagues? I was like, what the hell are people? Just short memories, man.
Starting point is 00:21:32 Forget about jail and. poker. Thielen is good still. It is perfect for a young quarterback. Yeah. I wasn't in on Thielen this week. I thought the Eagles would shut him down and they did not. Nine for 102. If Adam Feeleon's on your waiver wire, folks for the playoffs, pick his ass up. And last thing about this game, we saw Jonathan Brooks, the rookie who finally came back into the fold for the Panthers. He went down with a non-contact knee injury, John. Same knee that he had the ACL surgery on in the offseason. So at this point, we don't know what it is, but non-contact going down, that ain't good. Not good. Chuba Hubbard, 26 rushing attempts for 92 yards. He did score,
Starting point is 00:22:15 also caught four balls. I want to ask this to you, because who knows what the future holds for Jonathan Brooks. Where are we drafting Chuba Hubbard next year in fantasy? I mean, this guy, you could literally make a case if Jonathan Brooks is kind of out of the mix or he's hurt again. Trouble Hubbard is a second round pick Yeah I'm gonna go look and see where I had him rank Because I actually sneakily had him You know I was into him a little bit
Starting point is 00:22:42 I kind of wrote You know what by the way Might not be a bad idea to To get Brooks and then just just grab Hubbard Like Of course I can't find crap now You know you might be in pretty good shape there But no one cares
Starting point is 00:22:59 I care actually let me call it up here but yeah he he's looked very good that was that was absolutely stunning and shocking that he did this well where the hell's Chuba at here but yeah I kept looking I'm like you know what man like what's his name at Chuba Hubbard his ADP was 155 I had him at 140 so that's pretty good but yeah anyways it's gonna be like 19 right yeah yeah because the O line is not bad yeah but he's been very good now going back to last year so like it's a thing like he's he's pretty freaking good no question about it yeah really good impressed by him uh all right let's talk a little bit about the cleveland browns and the pitts uh let's see hang yeah yeah pittsberg steeler i got
Starting point is 00:23:48 i got three screens going on here john it gets crazy i went to the mac store you ever go to one of those by the way those apple stores yeah yeah i go in there and i'm talking the guy i'm like hey listen my keys kind of stick and all this. And I open up the laptop. He goes, have you ever cleaned the screen on this? I go, I don't really know how. He's like, just a literally just a little water and a microfiber thing. I'm like, can you do that for me?
Starting point is 00:24:10 Like I felt like such an idiot. Did you have to make an appointment for that? I just walked in. I'm a big time. That's Syracuse, man. You couldn't do that where I used to live around New Jersey. Oh, yeah. Like the Cherry Hill one in the Cherry Hill Mall.
Starting point is 00:24:24 Like you make an appointment for like four days from now. This was a Saturday night at like six o'clock in December with the peak of shopping season. I just roll in. Hey, fix this. All right. Oh, wow. Wow. We're a Dave and Busters and have a couple of beers.
Starting point is 00:24:39 So let's talk a little bit about the Steelers and the Brown. Steelers get the big W here, 27 to 14 for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Hey, Najee Harris gets you a touchdown. Nothing wrong with that. And the big story was early in inactive. George Pickens ruled out here, John. And that threw me for a loop with a couple of lineups. So now I went searching.
Starting point is 00:24:59 I'm like, oh, my God, can I pick up Calvin Austin? That was kind of the hot name. He does nothing. One for four. Van Jefferson catches one ball. Scores on it, but, you know, it does nothing there. Fryermouth scores. Really, the answer here was just Najee Harris.
Starting point is 00:25:15 It's just going to be Najee. It's going to be Jalen Warren. They're going to run the football down your throat. Well, the problem, man, the problem is like, Nogie even kind of came up small. I wrote here, yeah, on the top of the hands and since no pickings to me helps not as these chances. I think they'll lean on the run. Calvin Austin would be upside play, but I don't see a ton of targets, which I really wasn't feeling much for the Steelers passing game, really.
Starting point is 00:25:41 It was a good schematic match for George, but once he was out, I didn't really even like Fryeuth, even though this is now two games in a row. I guess somebody had to step up. But man, they spread it around. It's annoying van down by the river, you know, got big Mike out there. So yeah, that's that's week to week. It's a tough call. But Najee pissed me off, man, because I was in on his freaking prop, missed it by 10 yards. Opens the game.
Starting point is 00:26:04 He's got 35 yards. Well, the first drive, 32. I'm like, let's go. And then we didn't go very far after the head. I'm like, what the hell, Najee? Yeah, the Steelers got the Eagles next week. On the other side for the Browns. And listen, we all love James Winston and all the theatrics out there.
Starting point is 00:26:24 and he's going to throw pick sixes and then he's going to come back and just keep slinging, right? He threw for 212 yards today, but the Brown's offense was really kind of stuck in neutral. They only convert two third downs on the day and score 14 points, but the 14 points helped you out here. Jerry Judy, five for 64 and a touch, David and Joku, seven for 42 and a touchdown here.
Starting point is 00:26:46 So at least he's keeping the guys involved, John, that we need involved. Kind of a small day for Elijah Moore, but you've got to kind of kind of expect that against the Steelers defense. But what a day and what a little run here for Jerry Judy, who over the last three weeks, you look at this. He's got five, nine, and six receptions. I mean, this guy's been killing it. I mean, you can go back even longer than a month. He's like one of the best receivers in the NFL. Totally. Had him as a matchup to exploit here for sure. I'm like, yeah, we're projecting Joey Porter to the shadow of Judy. Guess what? Didn't matter last time. so he's going to be good and joku i did like too frustrating i played his prop i mean he did well for fantasy i mean let's come on dude 13 targets you caught seven balls you couldn't get to freaking i think we missed this by like three yards this was a very frustrating week for props because
Starting point is 00:27:42 i think i'm going to go whatever you know a couple over 500 and then lose like four of them be like 12 yards away from being like 70 percent of the week. That's very frustrating. But yeah, I wasn't really totally feeling Jameson this week. James, we talked about it on the live stream this morning. It was, yeah, I didn't love the matchup, you know, didn't go too hard on Elijah Moore. That's it. And once again, Sprint it down. You got to get Whiteheart the ball. Got to get Whiteheart a target at least one target. And James Prochet, you got to get Jimmy Prochet out there. It's not good. He's an SMU kid. He's fired up that the Mustangs are in the college football playoff.
Starting point is 00:28:24 God knows remember that, but I think I drafted him in a Dynasty League a million years ago. Yeah, me and Paul Kelly, I remember interviewed James Prochase. He was good, dude. You noted in the Hanson's Hintz article at FantasyPoints.com that you thought that Nick Chubb was going to lose some snaps to Jerome Ford. Lo and behold, he did. Ford actually played 54% of the brown snaps, 9 to 13 on third down. But neither of them did anything. Chubb, 11 carries for 48 yards. Ford goes 10 for 28. also catches three balls for 19. I think you just have to proceed like the rounds don't run the football and just forget either of these guys.
Starting point is 00:29:01 Yeah, I mean, they're all desperation plays only. That's it. There's no reason to be proactive and say, oh, yeah, I'm feeling a Ford game. Nah, let's not do that. Dude, I just start Ford in a Dynasty League playoff where my running backs are CMC, Brice Hall, and Joe Mixon. And you guys, if you're listening to this, no, None of those guys were playing today.
Starting point is 00:29:24 So I'm like talking to my partner here. All right, we got to pick somebody up or go to the waiver wire. Yep. It's freaking forg time. We put him in and I got a feeling our season's over in that league. So the seasons over there. The segment is over here. When we come back on the other side,
Starting point is 00:29:42 let's talk a little bit about our favorite quarterback here, Lieutenant Farva, AOC. He got banged up against Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers. Bucks look good, man, as they roll on to a 2813 when we'll talk about it and more on the other side. It's the Fantasy Points podcast. All right. Guru, we're back. I'd find where the actual screen is that I can write down the time that we go to break.
Starting point is 00:30:07 A little peek behind the curtain for you folks here of how we actually record a podcast. You ever do that like when you're on serious or anything? And they're coming back. They're like, hey, you know, you got to read in 10 seconds and you're like, oh, crap, I don't know where the read is. I mean, just to make this up. Did I ever do that? How about every single time I had to read? I mean, that was my joke.
Starting point is 00:30:28 Like, I could be like, oh, you got to do this. I'm like, how much time we got? Like six seconds of like plenty time. Good thing. I remembered all these underdog gambler hotline numbers off the top of my head so I can spin them back in New Jersey call 1,800 next step. Oh, I got it, baby. If you're in Vegas, hey, you can gamble freely.
Starting point is 00:30:49 I don't know if you really want to bet on your Raiders, though, as they go down to Tampa Bay, 28 to 13, but Raiders doing what Raiders got to do. Stay in the Shador Sanders hunt. In this game, though, we saw Bucky Irving go down, John, with a back injury. I know that probably heard a lot of folks out there who were banking on him to have a pretty big day against his craptastic Raiders team to help propel them in the playoffs. So it was just a lot of Rashad White, 17 carries, 90 yards, and a touchdown. Also scored a receiving touchdown.
Starting point is 00:31:18 So Monster Day for White. Do you have any thoughts on maybe, you know, my guy, Sean Tucker, if Buck Irvin can't come back or do you think they'll just, they'll all be Mr. White going forward? Yeah, I could see, you know, I could see Tucker taking over like half of the early down snaps. Mm-hmm. You know, like in a timeshare with White, with, with White. I know Tucker can catch it, but he's not.
Starting point is 00:31:41 I mean, do you see, you see White's touchdown? Those, those hands, man. I've been pumping up White's hands from day one. Like he's got literally some of the best hands I've ever seen for a runnerback. He really does. I mean, awesome hands. So yeah, I mean, this is a bump for White. If he's, you know, going to miss some time here for sure.
Starting point is 00:32:03 How about Sterling Shepherd? I kind of like that one. I don't know why I didn't play it, the prop, but I was kind of feeling that one. And I think we talked him up as a waiver wire guy this week. Didn't we on Sirius XM? Yeah, he was a guy I was considering for my lineup with Mr. C. he got you 10.3 points in a PPR, four catches for 63 yards today. So if you were desperate and he needed something, hey, 10 points in a PPR, you'll take it in this day and age.
Starting point is 00:32:30 Oh, yeah. I mean, geez, obviously, fucking Irving had three yards today. Yeah. Now, my fail was, in fact, Mr. O'Connell, who I'm embarrassed to admit, I don't know what it is. I just got panic with Purdy in the Niners and that injury. and what looked like a pretty piss-poor matchup, I started over Purdy. And I was probably a little haphazard, I think.
Starting point is 00:33:00 If I really, actually, I didn't even listen to my own damn rankings because I'm tweaking it this morning. And I'm like, I'm going to move Purdy over them. So I didn't even follow my own damn rankings. So if I lose, that'll be why. Now, he did get hurt. He did. And, you know, maybe he would have done okay.
Starting point is 00:33:18 if he didn't get hurt, he had the rushing touchdown. But he was off. I mean, that was bizarre because everything else I thought would happen, happen. I like Myers to have a good game. He did, you know, granted, Bauer's underwhelmed, but I like the tight end, and they caught 10 balls for 110 yards.
Starting point is 00:33:35 I know. How crazy is that? Brock Bowers has just been unstoppable for fantasy this season. He goes three for 49. Michael Mayer gets targeted nine times, catches seven for 68. What are we doing here? That's fantasy in 2024.
Starting point is 00:33:51 Yeah, sincere McCormick, I was calling him disingenuous McCormick, but he ran hard. I thought Abdullah would be the better option, but he's like worthless, you know, because they actually had it. They were somewhat committed to the run.
Starting point is 00:34:06 It's kind of like they all, only thing they had because the quarterback play was so bad. I mean, Ritter was actually good off the bench, but O'Connell was just bad in this game. Baker was, you know, Baker was kind of feeling it,
Starting point is 00:34:17 by the way, back to them real quick. How about my guy Jalen McMillan? I kind of gave up on him, but that was a guy a month ago. I'm like, he's the guy that you want. I mean, better late than never. So I think he's going to be a factor going forward. I mean, all of a sudden, like, you know, it's a good environment and a good quarterback where like guys are going down, Godwin, all that. We're still, you know, we still have guys, you know, like all of a sudden now, Otten, Evans, Shepherd, McMillan, White in the passing game, they still got guys. Yeah, you know, and they spent a good draft pick on Jayland McMillan and handed him the number three job in training camp fairly early.
Starting point is 00:34:54 So, and I know, trust me, I got a lot of dynasty shares of Jaylin McMillan, and he's done jack crap for me all season. So at Baker Mayfield, what a story of him this year. Just a really, really good season for Baker Mayfield. I had folks asking me, hey, do you know, Baker this week or Jordan Love and kind of back and forth? You know what, at this point, Baker's going to throw two, three touchdowns every single week. Don't even debate him. Put his ass in there. Yeah, he wasn't for a month, but I had him as a play to trade for the last couple of weeks
Starting point is 00:35:23 because, like, looking at these upcoming matchups and, yeah, we're off to a good start. Yeah, he is just very consistent. Same guy every week, man. So shout out to Baker, also great actor. Always have to mention that. Next week, Baker is going to visit the LA Chargers. So that'll be fun to see those guys battle it out here. It's fighting for a playoff spot.
Starting point is 00:35:48 Hey, last thing on sincere or disingenuous McCormick, 15 attempts, he had 78 yards rushing. Do you think, and they almost had Madison back for this week, you're 2 and 11? I mean, do you think there's a reason to even go back to Madison or just let's see what this young kids got? Yeah, might as well. I mean, they kind of did that with Zemir White last year. They just wrote him and it was okay. They actually won three of four games doing that. That's what Pierce wants to do.
Starting point is 00:36:15 So, yeah. we don't have to spend a lot of time on this next one here the jaggs 106 winners over the titans both teams now 3 and 10 i don't even know where to go in this one john but uh brian oh i got plenty of frustrating thing well brian thomas came through he came through 86 yards i played his prop bigsby looked pretty good running the rock i mentioned last week how et n actually looked better he did something here in the passing game parker washington i screwed something up in his article and hopefully no And I'm like, don't use them was my point, basically. Hopefully they listened.
Starting point is 00:36:50 And then the frustrating part was I was very much high on Pollard, played his prop as one of my top five props that hit very easily. 102 yards, maybe. But man, very frustrated with Ridley because I played it and lost it by five yards. The two got frigging 12 targets, seven grabs, and he couldn't get to freaking 63 yards. So that was very fresh. very, I mean, I'm telling you, I think I'm like 11 yards away from going like, you know,
Starting point is 00:37:21 like 12 and 4 on props. How about I got Nick Westbrook-a-Kine, two targets, which is kind of par for the course, only catches one for 19 yards. So go to him. And I know a lot of folks did because of his track record of late, but he really lets you down. And I don't know, he's very tough to trust going forward. At this point, yeah. I mean, all we're waiting for is that streak to end.
Starting point is 00:37:45 Now that it ends, I think we're almost, let's say we're back to where we were a month ago. He's hardly a great like, oh my God, I got to try them out thing. You know what I mean? I did like MVS versus NWY all week. I'm like, yeah, if I had to pick my airport, I think I'm flying out of NWS. A Titans next week are home against the Bengals. Absolutely no defense will be played in that one. and Jacksonville will go against the Jets,
Starting point is 00:38:14 two teams just dying to get a really good draft pick. That'll be, oh, God, two just intriguing games to watch for fantasy in the fantasy playoffs. Let's keep cruising along here, a team that's looking to make the real playoffs, Seattle Seahawks, 30 to 18 win over the Arizona Cardinals, improving to 8 and 5. And this impacted me in several leagues as Ken Walker was out. So in Step Zach Sharboning. And John, I got to say this.
Starting point is 00:38:42 whenever Ken Walker's out there, like they'll run the ball with him a little bit. You know, they were doing a couple of dump offs here and there. Whenever Zach Charbonnet is like the standalone back in this offense, they move heaven and earth to get him involved as much as possible. They're running, you know, jet sweeps to him at the goal line,
Starting point is 00:39:00 three straight plunges from the one. Like, where was this with Ken Walker all season? As Charbonnet goes bananas with 134 yards, two rushing touchdowns and catches seven balls for 59. Are you kidding me? Yep. Oh, I was kind of feeling it. I had him as a matchup to exploit.
Starting point is 00:39:17 I did write, hey, there's a chance he craps to bed, but also a chance he drops 20 plus points for you. The matchup was decent enough. So I did have him as a guy, a matchup to exploit along with Jackson Smith and Jigba, also McBride. The one thing that surprised me is I talked all about D.K. Metcalfe being my nemesis for the first time ever.
Starting point is 00:39:40 He didn't go off. and I actually tried to offset it by playing a prop, which lost. Once again, by not a lot, but probably by the most of any of the other losses by like maybe 10, 11 yards. But yeah, I was kind of feeling it with Charbonnet. We told a lot of people to start Charbonnet today on the podcast there or the live stream. But make no mistake, Jackson Smith and Jigba is the number one receiver here. I'm sorry. I know DK is kind of still that, but he's not producing.
Starting point is 00:40:08 JSN is. Like he's kind of commanding the ball now. Yeah, if you look at what Smith and Jigba has done of late, it's really impressive, as I call it, his numbers here. You know, five for 82 today, and he catches everything thrown to him. He caught all four passes a week ago. He caught six or seven before that, 10 of 11 back all the way in week 11. So, yeah, I'm with it.
Starting point is 00:40:32 He's running the routes. He's out there every single week just smashing, and he's put Tyler Lockett in the rear view. So, yeah, good for you guys if you're rolling with JSN. he has been just absolutely on fire since week nine yeah and real quick on the cardinals mcbride like what the hell didn't have anything really at the half i actually had to start michael wilson in a league believe or not oh true yeah he came through harrison was at least all right but yeah collier threw it a lot 38 times how about connor though it's unbelievable two weeks ago
Starting point is 00:41:03 i i like this prop because of the schematics of the matchup dude got nine freaking yards or eight So I go on Vson this morning And I give out mostly good plays But they always want to get some unders And I'm like guys, I'm cursed on unders Don't do it The overs I'm crushing If I'm given eight
Starting point is 00:41:24 If I'm given seven a week I'm hitting five Every week But the unders are awful I did have pits on here But I'm like oh with your unders I'm like well You know Connor did run for eight yards
Starting point is 00:41:37 So he's on my list but now that I said, he's probably going for 90, and he went for 90. It's a top 10 running back at the moment right now is one James Connor. Next week, maybe the Cardinals can bounce back, get it right. They're home against the Patriots. Seattle is going to be home for Sunday night football
Starting point is 00:41:56 against Green Bay. We have two Monday night games next week. Oh. In the first week of the fantasy playoffs, yeah, you're going to get Bears, Vikings, and Falcons, Readers. Oh, that would be cool. So let's take our final time out of the pod. When we come back on their side, a fantasy bonanza in Los Angeles.
Starting point is 00:42:16 We use that term, you know, from time to time here on the show. Like, all right, Drake, we get it. You're trying to pump it up here. No, this Bill's Rams game was unbelievable. Lots to talk about. Don't go anywhere. It's a Fantasy Points podcast. Welcome back, everybody, talking Bill's Rams in La La Land.
Starting point is 00:42:33 And this one came right down to the wire. What a fun game, John. 44, 42, Rams get the victory. Bills, I don't know if they were looking past the Rams who were six and six coming into the game to their big date next week with the Lions. But it took a half for Buffalo to wake up and Josh Allen put on a show in a losing cause here. Josh Allen, three passing touchdowns to go along with 342 yards. Also, 10 rushes for 82 yards and three touchdowns. six touchdowns for Josh Allen today.
Starting point is 00:43:08 Just wow. This is why if you're going to spend a high pick on a quarterback, Josh Allen, maybe one of those, the only guys you even invest in. But before we can get to the Rams here, John, just what a performance by Josh Allen.
Starting point is 00:43:21 This was fun. This is when you can just sit back and go, I love fantasy football because I love watching Josh Allen play. Love this guy, you know, said it from the moment I interviewed him at the combine. I'm like, I've never come across a guy more inclined to excel at his chosen field than this man.
Starting point is 00:43:40 So, I mean, he's freaking awesome. I was all over this game, really, with Amar Cooper. I was like one of my big things. We mentioned it. I told 100 people this morning to start of Mark Cooper. I'm like, we're going to manifest his puppy, just like Devante Smith. And we basically did. I played Allen's over-the-yardage prop was one of my top five plays.
Starting point is 00:44:00 I played Cooper easy win I kept saying like they got him to expand things out a guy who can win against man coverage make big plays on the outside it's time to ramp it up and that's exactly what happened I also picked up Mack Hollins for the FBI but I I couldn't do it and I should have because he he freaking he got it done too but how about our guy Shakir tough matchup I did say Yeah, it's a tough matchup. Oh, there's my guy, Josh Palmer, making a play. Watching the Charger game live here Sunday night. I did say, yeah, a tough matchup. The Rams have been tough inside. But I'm like, hey, it could be a shootout. And if he gets, you know, 10 targets, he's going to get, do well.
Starting point is 00:44:47 Man, is he good. That 51 yarder was awesome. But shout out to our guy, Shakir, one of our best preseason calls here on the on the podcast. Yeah, he's a top 10 receiver on the week. Very curious where he's going to go next. year in fantasy drafts. He goes five. What's that?
Starting point is 00:45:04 It's like a fourth round pick. Yeah. I could see him creeping up even higher. People taking him maybe that three, four turn. Who knows? Let's see. In terms of the running game, though, nothing for James Cook. He's probably the biggest buzzkill in a day where there weren't very many buzz kills.
Starting point is 00:45:21 He only runs for 20 yards. True. That could have easily been the opposite, though. I had him as a matchup to exploit. What were we going to do? I mean, it's the same Rams team that got run over by Barclay a couple of weeks ago. Like, what are you going to do? They were giving up a lot of production.
Starting point is 00:45:35 But I also did feel like, as I mentioned in the Hanson's hints, that they're going to throw it a lot. We're looking at, I like Allen to sling it a bit and get Amari Cooper going. That was the last thing I wrote. Yeah, and he did. Amari Cooper, 14 targets. Good to see him back involved. Six for 95. on the other side for the Rams who get the W,
Starting point is 00:45:58 I wrote up in an article, a little DFS play, and my favorite running back in the week was Kyron Williams, because you can run the ball in the bills. They almost dare you to run the ball on them. And Sean McVeigh said, don't mind if I do. And Kyran, we say it all every time on this podcast, John. He's got a score to come through. He scored twice, 29 carries, 87 yards,
Starting point is 00:46:21 two touchdowns on the ground for Kyran, and also caught two balls. So really great to see that. And then Pooka Nakua is just kind of ascending to a new level. You wrote in Hanson's hints. You're going to need 12 plus targets for Pooka Nakua. How about 14 today for you? He gets 12 receptions for a buck 62 reception.
Starting point is 00:46:40 And he runs one in, John. Yeah, exactly. Of course, got that right. But another guy that I went with under because I got to come up with somebody, of course he went over. Cooper Cup. It's like unbelievable. If I come on, if a guy, a big name guy's looking bad and I'm like, oh, we need you to give me some unders.
Starting point is 00:46:58 I'm like, all right. He'll go over, man. I'm telling you the universe is like, no, no, no, not this guy. He does not get unders right. Screw this. But he did look better. Because one week ago, he did not look good at all. We were like, oh, did he test positive for geratol?
Starting point is 00:47:13 But man, Pooka is just unbelievable. I mean, Pooka is a cheat code. He is his own cheat code. I worry about him. all the time because he plays so damn hard and reckless out there. He's always coming off the field with some injury. And he did today, too. He had a calf or something he was nursing.
Starting point is 00:47:31 Like, buddy, just not every play has to be a car crash. All right? Like, yeah, totally. Take care of yourself a little better. Stafford throws for 320 and two touchdown. Take care of yourself and others. You know what? I dropped the 3-3-at-Well line on my son during the game.
Starting point is 00:47:48 He loved it. I don't know. What is that? I don't get that one. Remember for you and Kaplan would. do it all the time on the series show. You're like, oh, two, two, Atwell and his, you know, oh, oh, three, three out. Oh, yeah. Okay, yeah, got, got, got, got, got, got. Does he have a brother, one one? And then my son got in all the weeds of like,
Starting point is 00:48:01 would one one at well be the oldest of the kids since he was like first? Two, two, is the second kid. Oh, yeah, like, oh, yeah, review. Oh, you let me down. Two, two, more like one one. I thought it was going to be three, three. Uh, so the Buffalo bills, as we mentioned, are going to go play against the lions next week. Can't wait to watch that. And the ram, have a big date with the 49ers out at Levi Stadium. Speaking of the 49ers, they took it to the Chicago Bears today, 3813 win for the 49ers,
Starting point is 00:48:33 improving the 6 and 7. They're keeping their season alive, kind of sort of, a little bit over here, John. And the name everybody wanted to talk about was Isaac Grendo, and he got two touchdowns for you, but then also left the game with a foot injury.
Starting point is 00:48:47 So going to have to monitor this. Could be a little Patrick Taylor time. He scored as well. on the ground for the Niners here. But just kind of a good get right game. Juan Jennings caught a couple of touchdown passes. Georgie Kittle, 151 yards. But Guru, where's Debo?
Starting point is 00:49:05 You got a milk carton over there? Is he on the side of it? Two catches for 22 yards for Debo Samuel? Like, he's nowhere'sville. He's like, people are going to start asking, can I drop Debo Samuel? Yeah, I know. I said a lot today, like, I just didn't know how to, where to go with everything here with what seemed like a tougher matchup
Starting point is 00:49:26 Purdy I'm worried about health So I I kind of crapped the bet on this one I did like Kittle quite a bit and I said that this morning I'm like all I know is Kittle you know Tom answered a couple of questions about Jennings he had a good vibe on it I'm like well good because I got no vibe But you know if you read my once again the article was pretty good in terms of the matchups to exploit and all that I had Kittal and garendo as good plays here.
Starting point is 00:49:54 I had Allen as a bad play. But I also, well, I had Debo in there and Jennings. I just didn't know what to do with Jennings. Yeah. Overall, pretty good. Roma Dunzee scores twice. Beautiful pick for next year, by the way. But it was a tough game to wrap your head around for me.
Starting point is 00:50:10 I started O'Connell over Purdy, which I feel like an idiot. But again, we're talking an injury. Well, number one, the injury to O'Connell made his day look worse. But, you know, we just, I just didn't know about Purdy. He also got hurt, by the way, in the game late, looked like he's all right. But also, I think my biggest mistake was thinking the Bear D would offer up any resistance because they were God awful.
Starting point is 00:50:36 And I'm thinking, oh, that's right. They fired their head coach, who's their defensive coordinator, basically. So that's probably it. You know, their defense stinks now. So whomever they're playing, start your guys. Let's see, they've got, well, they got Vikings. Vikings are going to kill them. There you go.
Starting point is 00:50:53 Big Hawkinson game. Do you know at half, I believe halftime, I was listening to our guys, Paul Kelly and Joe Dolan on the Game Day show. And Paul brings up, I couldn't believe this is real. He goes, The Bears have four yards at halftime.
Starting point is 00:51:06 Yeah, four yards. Four. Well, I was watching Red Zone and Scott Hanson's like, ladies and gentlemen, I've got to tell you this stat, the San Francisco 49ers have 275 yards. That's good Hanson.
Starting point is 00:51:20 and the other team the bears four i mean he was like really like you know like overdoing it a little bit but that's that's kind of his style that's his schick dude i'm looking at the bears and i don't know who thought this through but you get rid of waldron and and he get rid of iber flus you bring up this thomas brown guy thomas brown like a month ago wasn't he just like the running backs coach yeah And then they promote, go, hey, now you're going to call plays. Oh, now you're going to be the head coach and call plays. Like, come on, man. Like, this dude's so in over his head.
Starting point is 00:51:58 I mean, I feel bad for him at this point. That's fair. That's fair. That's very fair. Yeah. You know, you figure they got some guys, other people on the staff. But yeah, that's a pretty fair assessment here. And they've got Minnesota this week.
Starting point is 00:52:12 Of course, he put up numbers in the game last time. So who knows? So it's, some of these things, it looks so dire, but yet, just when you think it's hopeless, a guy like Caleb Williams, you know, did go on a little run the last couple of weeks, but I would be worried. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:52:30 I would be a little worried going forward. Like, I don't know if we could trust them at all, obviously. Yeah, bears get the Vikings next week and then the fantasy semifinals, they get the Lions. And if you're still rolling with any of these guys in the Fantasy Super Bowl, they got a Thursday nighter against the Seahawks
Starting point is 00:52:47 who are playing a little bit better defense. At least DJ Moore's been all right the last three weeks. Keenan Allen's a little up and down, but at least more, I mean, he's kind of still cemented as the one. No, Cole Komet, goose egg you, not even a target. Yeah, no, he's can't do that. Well, John, the next time you and I get together, we're going to be previewing the first week of the fantasy playoffs. That's right. It'll drop on Friday, week 15 preview the Fantasy Points podcast.
Starting point is 00:53:17 I want you guys go over to fantasy points.com. You can still sign up. You can still read. There are a lot of free articles over there. Just get in the mix.
