Starting point is 00:00:25 We'd love to talk, business. What is up? Week 17 is just about in the books. This is John Hansen and Brian Drake and I are back to a review. Everything going to happen. What do we get right? What do we get wrong? A little bit of an even Stephen situation got some good things right and some bad things wrong. But Baker Mayfield is the man. The Green Bay Packer passing offense is broken. And Drew Locke and you know, we won't even go there. Drew Locke, surprise, everybody. But stay tuned. We'll break it all down here on the latest edition of the Fantasy Points podcast, and you are welcome. All across the fantasy universe, welcome to the Week 17 Recap Show. Congratulations, first and foremost. If you're listening to this and you won a fantasy championship to what it's all about, we're proud of you. We hope along the way we maybe helped you get there with a pickup or a play or just, you know,
Starting point is 00:01:37 something you found from me and John talking about this for 17 straight weeks. I'm Brian Drake alongside the guru, John Hanson. This is the Fantasy Points podcast. John, we've almost in a finish line. Almost, my friend. There's one more week. I don't know. That'll be a lot of props and DFS talk, I guess.
Starting point is 00:01:55 But congratulations to you for a hell of a year with all the work you put in here at Fantasy Points.com. How was week 17 for you? Oh, it was a weird week. We'll get into it. I do not believe I'll emerge victorious in the Fantasy Points of Dynasty Championship, which I kind of knew deep, deep, down I wasn't going to because there's a curse involved with me winning any official league,
Starting point is 00:02:18 but we'll get into the individual performances. But a pretty wild week, a lot of instability, but we're all used to it now. Seems like everyone's been kind of beaten down a little bit here. We betting and fantasy and prop enthusiasts, like this puppy has been not easy to navigate this year. But you know, we do the best we can. It was a, that's plenty of solid calls this week. There, there was a bunch of stuff, though, that was literally unpredictable, but we'll get into it. So let's quickly touch on those Saturday games. Usually, you know, we recap the whole weekend, but with Christmas, you know,
Starting point is 00:02:58 there was a game every freaking night of the week, it seemed. So not all the games were good. The Chargers, 40 to seven winners over the New England Patriots in this game. Justin Herbert, 281 and 3, John, your guy, Ladd McCona. Give me the sound effect. Come on. Oh, it's a good lad. Eight for 94 and two from a conkey. And J.K. Dobbins, welcome back. I know a guy in one of my home leagues, John, just randomly found J.K. Dobbins on the wire.
Starting point is 00:03:27 And since all the other teams were locked, he goes, I'm going to pick him up, starting over Rico Dowell. Boom. Help the guy winning championship. 76 yards rushing in a touchdown for Dobbins. On the other side for the Patriots, Pop Douglas scored a touchdown and everybody else was terrible. So any thoughts from this game? Yeah, I did like Dobbins. If you read my preview in the Hansen Sins,
Starting point is 00:03:48 I told the crime dog Fred McGriff to start him, I convinced him to start Dobbins over James Connor. Love it. And that worked out. I was very high on Ladd in this game. Didn't necessarily think Herbert was going to be a great play. Spreading the ball around, but getting a little Will Disley back there. I thought Josh Palmer might do something.
Starting point is 00:04:08 Yeah, it was pretty good, well, certainly a very good day for, the Chargers, you know, we're always going to get some Russian production, which we got, but it was nice that Herbert was able to get three, three tutties. Yeah, I made a grave error in saying anything positive about Romandre, his prop was only like 44.5 yards. He looked good the week before. Charger Run D had not been good. I thought maybe, you know, stay in the game for a half and get to 50 freaking yards, but the fumbling issue, which by the time I got in on it, I guess it kind of came out a little bit more so afterward, like Friday, that, you know, he's on shaky ground with the fumble.
Starting point is 00:04:50 So I don't know what the hell to say about it at this point, probably bail. But Douglas's touchdown was pretty fluky. And, you know, it was a tough day at the office for Drake May. It didn't really, it was probably his worst game of the year, actually. Yeah, and better days are ahead for the Patriots is they're going to pick very high in the upcoming spring draft and maybe they'll get a coach actually knows what the hell he's doing there. But as for now, Goose egg from Hunter Henry was ugly, by the way.
Starting point is 00:05:20 So just forget it. Let's move on to a game that actually had a ton of fantasy implications. An overtime thriller, the Bengals, 30 to 24 winners over the Denver Broncos, keeps their slim playoff hopes alive. But this game, John, was freaking bananas. How about Joey Burrow? three passing touchdowns, 412 yards. T. Higgins catching all three of those touchdowns.
Starting point is 00:05:46 He goes for a buck 31. Chase goes nine for 102. Gasecki catches 10 balls for damn near 90 yards. Everything looked great for the Bengals here, except for at the end of the game, you got Chase Brown injuring his ankle trying to stop from going into the end zone, which if you didn't want to score, guys,
Starting point is 00:06:06 why didn't you just take a knee? and then from that point out it was just bananas. You had Burrow and Higgins teaming up for like another 30 freaking fantasy points. Insanity from the Bengals here is they keep fighting every single week. Yeah, I actually missed most of this game. I was actually doing a little sightseeing with my son who drove all the way down here from New Jersey. So I did miss a good amount of it. I do know I lost the Chase Brown receiving prop by three yards, which pissed me off.
Starting point is 00:06:37 It's like, are you kidding me? Burrow throws it 49 yards, 49 times for 412, and I can't get 27 damn yards from Chase Brown. The football gods are like, that's correct. And, you know, it's weird, but everything got funneled to the outside guys. And Gassiki got involved for the first time, big time, with Higgins. So, but the common denominator is Barrows back there dealing. So, you know, obviously there's only one more game.
Starting point is 00:07:06 We'll guess we'll see if they make the playoffs. but I mean the only thing that's going to stop this run with Burrow right now is in fact the end of the season. Yeah. You know, for the Broncos, you're not using any of these running backs. And it was just another massive, Juleo McLaughlin returning. He's getting 10 carries, estimate for nine. So, I mean, geez, our guy, where is he here? Javante didn't even get a carry in this game, John.
Starting point is 00:07:30 I mean, he's dead. Dead. It's completely over. I thought he would be viable, have a chance to catch three, four, five ball. against a team that was giving up plenty of them. But Sean Payton's like, yeah, take your analysis and stick her where the sun don't shine because I got to get Nate Atkins the ball. But how about Marv Mims?
Starting point is 00:07:52 I like Marv Mims. I get nobody else did, but he was on all my, well, he was on my late round target list. Yes, he was. I drafted him in the Kings classically. He got in Canton, Ohio, with the Hall of Fame. Yeah, I was like, I was like, why aren't we a little bit more into this guy? understand it's not going to be a high volume guy, but hey, I've seen a lot of 49 catch guys go for like a thousand, you know, I mean, I guess better late than never. It's unbelievable. But again,
Starting point is 00:08:21 little too little, uh, too much too late really because I still, I mean, no one trusted him going into this one. Although the grinder did play his prop that was over. But of course, that was like 24 were freaking yards. He went freaking off. Yeah, you know, we caught a really miraculous touchdown at the end to kind of keep that game going. Cortland Sutton 5 for 55 in a touchdown. Sutton's getting a little older here. So we'll see how long he hangs around in Denver as the youth movement kind of comes through. And Bo Nix next year, I'm, I'm interested to see where people draft Bo Nicks, three touchdown performance for the rookie quarterback. He looks good out there, you know. He fits into this system pretty well, John. I think he could be a low-end quarterback. You know, definitely
Starting point is 00:09:05 two quarterback league. Somebody would love to get your hands on, Super Flex style. Where do you see him in redraft next year? Well, I guess a good comp would be where was C.J. Stroud this year. I mean, I think it's somewhat comparable, even though Strau's performance was probably a little more impressive, but Nix also is a consistent producer with his legs, which is a little bit of an equalizer there. So, you know, he'll be in that tier of like QB 8 to 12, probably. He's a top 10 quarterback right now. He's ahead of Patrick Mahomes.
Starting point is 00:09:45 He's ahead of Kyler Murray. He's ahead of Justin Herbert. He's ahead of Brock Purdy and Jordan Love. So what a rookie season for one, Mr. Bo Nix. Let's see. Let's go to a disappointing quarterback. I just mentioned Kyler Murray. His Cardinals fall short 13 to 9 to the L.A. Rams. And listen, if you're watching this game, it is just the Pooka Nakuwa show.
Starting point is 00:10:10 14 targets for Pooka Nakuwa goes 10 for 129. Cooper Cups dead, John. What the hell happened? What cliff did Cooper Cup fall off? I'm sorry anybody out there that there's no way you kept playing him. and you were in a fantasy championship game. One for 29 for Cooper Cup. Are you kidding me?
Starting point is 00:10:28 Oh, I played him. I had to. And the fantasy points dynasty. Hell, yeah, man. This is like my fifth year having him in the Dynasty League. You know, I drafted him when he was five years younger and all that good stuff. But, uh, yeah,
Starting point is 00:10:42 he was coming off in ACL that year when I drafted him, too, by the way. And I didn't really enjoy much when he went off because my rest of my team was terrible. But yeah, It has been all Puka and uh, Kyrin. And you know what? It has been very little Stafford too. That's part of it.
Starting point is 00:10:59 Uh, I think it's two or three straight games now under 200 yards for Matthew Stafford. Yeah. Yeah. But, but obviously cup is, uh, his cup is, uh, empty at this point. Uh, not a lot of juice left, I don't think. Uh, over in the other side, I'm pretty sure we previewed this, right? And didn't I say? I said it a lot of places, but I was up against Trey McBride in the fantasy points
Starting point is 00:11:22 Dynasty and well he was going to score and go off and he did so there it is 16 targets love cherry McBride mentioned a million times my initial projections that were up on the site until our guy Chris kind of took him over I uh well we changed him but my initial run had him with 120 catches I'm like I think he's catching a buck 20 right now he's got 104 now he's not going to catch 16 that's pretty damn good though And he missed a game, right? Did he miss a game? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:11:56 Yeah, I think he did. Yeah, he did with a concussion. He did. So he goes for 12 for 123 to touchdown. And hey, Marvin Harrison, 10 targets go six for 96. It's going to be interesting where Marvin Harrison falls next year in redraft. Because, I mean, you remember this year, John, people were taking him at like the one-two turn.
Starting point is 00:12:15 They were all in on Marvin Harrison. I think next year people are going to be getting him in like the fourth round. Yeah, no, he was better. in this game. I even wrote it up on the site in my article. I'm like, I hate to say, I really do. But obviously, this is a matchup where he crushed in week two.
Starting point is 00:12:31 But the Rams have been vulnerable on the outside all year. Kyler did actually throw it 48 times. That certainly helped the running game issues and all that. But yeah, I think based on the showing and based on Kyler, and obviously we'll see, do these coaches make it?
Starting point is 00:12:48 I think that's very questionable. So we might have to start all over from scratch next year with a new coaching staff or at least a new office coordinator. So yeah, what we shall see. But I don't think he should go until at least a fourth round. Hell no. All right. Let's take a time out and then start the Sunday slate.
Starting point is 00:13:08 Thanks for hanging with us, guys. Be back on the other side. It's the Fantasy Points podcast. All right. The Sunday games commenced in Orchard Park where it was windy. It was a little rainy. It was unseasonably. warm and the Buffalo bills just dropped the hammer on the New York Jets.
Starting point is 00:13:26 It was 40 to nothing at one point in this game, John. And Aaron Rogers pulls himself out of the game. I was reading about that where he went to interim coach Jeff Obrick and he goes, hey, you might want to get Tyrod in here right now as the Jets score their 40th or the bills score their 40th point. And, you know, the Garrett Wilson gets a garbage touchdown. Our guy, conk daddy scores late from Tyrod. but the Jets have such a bad culture right now, John.
Starting point is 00:13:54 There's quotes out there where, like, you've got Garrett Wilson saying he doesn't know if he wants to resign long term with the Jets. If Aaron Rogers comes back next year. There's nothing. There's nothing to hang your head on whatsoever. There's no for the future right now. There's no coach who's the GM, who's the quarterback. Rogers likely gone.
Starting point is 00:14:15 All you have really on offense is, Garrett Wilson and Breeshall. And I mean, those two need to form their own little union and get, I don't know, special privileges, special parking lots and spots. But yeah, they're a disaster. It starts off from the ownership down. I mean, it's one of the worst ownership groups. They're terrible.
Starting point is 00:14:37 They're absolutely awful. And they get what they have coming to them. It's funny about Tyler Conklin, I wrote today that didn't go as I planned. he needs 56 points in the next two weeks to hit my season projection for him. He got 20 today. So now we're only 36 off, but still, obviously he did not do what I thought. But, I mean, he did hang in there. And he actually has kind of come on here.
Starting point is 00:15:02 But, you know, of course, we didn't anticipate Devante Adams either. I thought they'd be able to get by with Lazard and Mike Williams, of course, and Garrett, thinking that Conklin in that group is, you know, probably a little bit more of a target hound than, you know, he was, basically. You know, Devante got here and you had to get him the ball. But anyway, I don't know. We spent way too much time on this. I like the Brees Hall receiving prop.
Starting point is 00:15:31 Every day in a point showed this would be it. These idiots. And it wasn't even, you know what it was? It was freaking Aaron Rogers. Didn't check the ball down. He, and instead of checking it down, uh, to stud Bruce Hall. who can get a lot after the catch, break, tackles, and like. Instead, Aaron Rogers opted for sacks today.
Starting point is 00:15:52 So I'm sorry if you played the Breesall prop. I hope you put the Bill's defense because they had a safety. And they were looking really good out there, just doing whatever they wanted against New York Jets. For the Bills, hey, you got lucky with James Cook. He only ran for 53 yards, but he did get a touchdown. Josh Allen threw two touchdown passes, is only through for 182 yards today, did Alan.
Starting point is 00:16:19 But he also ran one in so that it kind of helps his day. And it's just, this is what we've seen from the bills, John. We're going to spread it around to 58 different guys here. We're never going to give anybody more than three receptions. And God only knows who's going to catch these touchdowns. Yeah, it's really hard. I keep saying Joe Brady is like kind of the new, it's kind of like Sean Payton a little bit, which is a compliment to him.
Starting point is 00:16:41 But driving us a little crazy here. I have said, look, just keep starting James Cook. What are you going to do? But the receiving course, what's really been worrisome? I didn't love Shakir today again. And, you know, caught a couple early balls, but no, he, you know, Coleman looking good. I think he just missed another touchdown. Cooper finally showed up.
Starting point is 00:17:05 It was a good matchup for him schematically. And it came through. Got to get Shavers the ball. I mean, you got to be kidding me. Ty Johnson's a huge factor about three weeks ago and then it doesn't do anything. Kincaid's struggles continue. Like they're a fantasy quagmire. Really is Alan and Cook.
Starting point is 00:17:24 That's it. In terms of short things here down the stretch when it matters most. I can't wait to see where Dalton Kincaid gets drafted next year for fantasy. I mean, he's 10th round pick. I'm looking at it right now on the season, he's like barely in the top. top 20. Yeah, it's crazy. He's behind our guy turd Ferguson. He's still behind Tayson Hill in total points. Oh, my God. Brady might not be great at tight ends, using tight ends. Well, this game was near and dear to your heart down in Jacksonville.
Starting point is 00:18:03 So explain to folks what was going on here with the weather because we woke up and we heard all of a sudden there's like a tornado warning in the Jacksonville area. And I saw a video of Tajay Spears doing some autographs before the game it looked like you know the sky was about to open up and the there was about to be a biblical war fought above this stadium john yeah yeah yeah i mean i i i kept checking it out like checking the radar and stuff it never did uh get scary bad uh i don't think it didn't where i'm at um i'm trying to see how far away i am from that but yeah i'll see how far away i am from that but yeah i mean it it it didn't really it wasn't that big of a factor no in the in the game and i played a lot of these guys in dFS because i thought
Starting point is 00:18:54 people were going to get scared off of them yeah yeah um you love tajie today and he came yeah i got hurt at one point but 20 for 95 as a rusher and he caught three balls shame he didn't score but yeah jacks i'm sorry jacksville's it's it's not close a little closer as the crow flies but uh 76 miles so it's a pretty close hurricane or tornado 76 miles in my house i'm good oh i mean we got the warnings i got the warnings here um uh but yeah it's probably probably a similar weather weather system here but we get a lot of uh the serious weather it it like the hurricanes go the Gulf stream and the Gulf stream kind of like because it jets in the lower Georgia and Jacksonville it kind of misses it and it goes up to above Savannah to like North Carolina.
Starting point is 00:19:52 That's why there's hurricanes they go from like Florida, North Carolina. So there's that little pocket where I'm at Hilton Head, Savannah, uh, and Jacksonville to the south where it doesn't get hammered that bad. But anyway, we spent a way too much time on that. I also did like Calvin Ridley. I was talking him up this morning on the Vason show. And hey, he didn't score, but he easily beat his yardage prop and his catch prop. So there you go.
Starting point is 00:20:20 So good to see that happen. It was a little scary, a little ugly there. Mesa Rudolph, not very good. Mason Rudolph, are Mason Rudolph, by the way, and Aidan O'Connell are like, are they like cousins? I mean, they're very similar. looking but and none of them neither good uh particularly good but uh yeah yeah spears is a shame you know he had a pretty good day i did tell the crime dog to start him over oh who was it um i got i got to i mean spears still got you like whoa 13 points not too not too shabby
Starting point is 00:21:00 yeah we'll take it you know we did tell a lot of folks we were in on chiggya conco he goes five for 42. So if you in a full PPR, get you a little over nine points, that's not the worst thing in the world at tight end. For Jacksonville, who actually won this game, 20 to 13, they at one point had a 13 to 0 lead. Travis E.TN, 15 carries for 49 yards. But the touchdowns came from our guys Brian Thomas Jr. and Parker Washington. We can't quit Parker Washington on this show. I know you want to know, we want to hear a bad beat. I actually played a Parker Washington. Washington prop because I was feeling it based on the schematics and then he scores and then doesn't hit to prop loses it by like two yards I'm like I quit Parker Washington I mean
Starting point is 00:21:48 you got to be shitting me yeah it's it's rough out there we're gonna do what you're going to do we're going to do Brenton strange terrible goose egged us here one target didn't even get in a freaking box score thanks for nothing buddy we'll see what happens next year this team's probably gonna have a lot of turnover we'll see if Doug Peterson return turns. We'll see what they do at a running back position. But if we know anything, Brian Thomas Jr. is a stud. He's going to be a first round pick in all your redraft leagues. Yeah, absolutely amazing. How about that? Los Vegas Raiders. These guys have never seen a draft pick that they, you know, want to hang on to. They go and they win again. What are you
Starting point is 00:22:26 doing, Raiders? 25 to 10 over the high school team that is the New Orleans Saints. There were a couple of fun plays in this game. There was kind of like a throwback, plea flicker. that Foster Moreau scored on from Spencer Rattler. So that was kind of unique. But we told a lot of folks, we were in on Amir Abdullah, and he had a touchdown called back today, John. And I did not expect Amir Abdullah to get 20 carries. Oh, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:22:54 This is the opposite of what we thought, of what all of us thought. He was looking like. I mean, he had not been that all year. Like he was the third down, hurry up back. in Madison, you know, you would think. But it's like I've always said, Amir Adula, I was so impressed with the guy. I'm sure Pierce feels the same way. And it felt like guys, we're not going anywhere.
Starting point is 00:23:16 We're going to reward the veteran Abdullah and we're going to give him the ball today. And nobody freaking knew that one. Unbelievable. So I said, thank God. We got one more week to deal with this radar team. Then we could just forget about them for at least a couple of months. And then the Saints, let's forget about that. Johnson are you kidding me it's like this guy is unbelievable and it's not his fault either but last
Starting point is 00:23:42 week thought I I lost a prop a couple yards today 10 targets six it's unbelievable foster morrow pettus oh they are emblematic of 2023 though the new Orleans saints like oh we'll have some optimism here and there remember week two think about where we were after week two Saints were in the Super Bowl after week two. Everybody talking about this offense. We've never seen anything like it. Oh, yeah. Kubiak was going to be the next big guy.
Starting point is 00:24:15 Let's, let's, it's like, oh, the season is, let's take a look. Oh, 5 and 11 and dead in the dirt for months. I mean, injuries are a big part of this, but man, this is some repugnous stuff right here. A shout out to Brock Bowers, who, you know, had just a monster season. And where do you see Brock Bowers next year for fantasy in a redraft? I mean, you're going to be talking between Bowers and McBride as the first tight end off the board. Yeah, yeah, yeah. When are people going to take them?
Starting point is 00:24:45 Second round, third round? When are you comfortable taking a guy like Bowers? Yeah, I think I have a feeling. Well, who's the quarterback, of course? Oh, yeah. Well, do we have a pretty good solution to quarterback? If we do, I wouldn't be surprised if he said, in like pick 20 late for late second it's going to end up being like kirk cousins it's going to go to
Starting point is 00:25:09 Vegas and just collect cash right yeah well all right that game was terrible let's get to another game john after the break that just defied all logic in terms of props in terms of what we thought would happen my defensive streamer the week got blown up we're going to talk about colds giants on the other side it's the fantasy points podcast So, John, every week when I write this defensive streamer article, I figure out, all right, who are the Titans playing? Who are the Giants playing? All right. Giants are playing against the Colts. Colts are pretty low-owned. They got some stuff to play for. Let's go pick up the Indianapolis Colts, right? Well, that didn't exactly work out for us. They got negative points in fantasy today. Sorry, America, if you went and picked these guys up. But the Giants win, 4533, at the moment, cost themselves, John, the number one overall pick in the draft. Not that these current players care about that because they're trying to win. But this team needs a quarterback and well, maybe Shador Sanders isn't going to be there for you or Cam Ward.
Starting point is 00:26:16 But shout out to the Giants. Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Malik Neighbors. Only the third rookie duo in NFL history to both hit 1,000 yards from scrimmage in a season. Neighbors was seven for 171 and two. Woo! What a day with four touchdown passes from Drew Locke. Yeah, he looked absolutely dominant, did neighbors. That was quite the showing.
Starting point is 00:26:43 And how about Locke? You've got to be kidding me. 309 slash four. I mean, come on. I mean, the saints or the cults, granted, they don't have much of a pass rush, but they actually weren't terrible on the back end. But no, they had no answer. So that was definitely like wild.
Starting point is 00:27:04 Our guy Wondale, man, he had a nice year, Wondale. I wrote him up in a DFS article for this week. Start Wondell. He went off the last two weeks, five for 71 and a touch this week. He's a nice player. He really is. Yeah, he's just tiny. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:22 But we've always liked Wondell. He came on the show, the series show, that rookie year. We loved them. Same year as Sky Moore. He was just as good as Sky Moore. But that's the last time I'll bring up Skymore ever again. But on the other side, Johnny Taylor, boy, he took a beating. He got a little dinged up.
Starting point is 00:27:43 I had a suspicion it would be a Pierce game. I did write that I liked Pittman in this game. Downs was a tough call and he came up small. The Giants propensity to slow down the slot held up here. but you know generally i guess things went as as planned uh i mean he can't complain too much about taylor he got 125 and two tuddies and we can't complain about it but he caught two for 11 hey whoopty do but hey it's better than it with anthony richardson but i don't know what about a r man it just feels like he's just just kind of wave the white flag here i mean it's i don't know where we are with
Starting point is 00:28:20 richardson man it's it's looking suspect that's the big issue going into next year for fantasies Anthony Richardson, sure, he can run around. He's got a big arm, but he's not accurate at all. They don't want him throwing the football. You're playing hide the quarterback. And really, when he's out there, you can't start Michael Pittman. I ended up throwing Pittman into a lineup when Joe Flacco was inserted as a starting quarterback. Good.
Starting point is 00:28:42 He's got a freaking competent quarterback. They can get him the ball down field. Yeah, yeah. Pitman's a legit wide receiver won for a team. But, I mean, he's totally hamstrung with Richardson. So, yeah, I don't know. what happens with these Colts next year. All right, John, let me ask you about these giants, skill players for next year.
Starting point is 00:29:02 It looks like Tyrone Tracy could be the leadback next year. That's good. He's got a three-down skill set. I'm in on him. And Malik neighbors, you know, you and I've kind of battled back and forth with this year on, you know, how good he really is and, you know, how mature he is and where he can go. They've got to get him a quarterback. But where do you see neighbors and Tracy next year for fantasy?
Starting point is 00:29:25 Oh, I stated from the very beginning of that, I thought Neighbors was an absolute stallion. I just had bad vibes. I just didn't trust them at all in New York. I had heard a couple things, too, about how, let's just say New York could be a problem, being A, in that spotlight, and B, in that volatile bad environment, like that could be a bad, you know. So sometimes when I have takes, you got to, if you, if you care in it. enough to really investigate, you know, sometimes has nothing to do with talent. And that would be the case here with neighbors.
Starting point is 00:30:03 But, I mean, look, sky's the limit. Like if he had a capable quarterback and had his head on straight and all that was focused, I mean, you could argue he should be a top five pick overall. Wow. Yeah, it's going to be interesting with neighbors. I don't know what they're going to do with the quarterback position. If they're not in the market for one of those top. two quarterbacks and I'm sure we'll have Brett Whitefield on this podcast as we get ready for
Starting point is 00:30:29 draft season to talk about the upcoming quarterback class they could be in the market for a kirkie cousins or i mean do they want to spend money they're they're still paying daniel jones a dead money and now you know i got a kirk or darn old or i don't know what the rookie yeah they got to get a rookie they got it i mean they can't pay somebody you might be able to move up a little i mean right now they're they had the fourth spot uh but that that could uh that could change you know uh cleveland Tennessee and new england could all win and then and they could lose and then they're probably number one again i mean that's probably let's see who they're all playing here real quick well Cleveland's playing the raven so never mind they're not going to win uh let's see here
Starting point is 00:31:15 uh Colts we got Colts Jaguars in one game Titans Tech Titans, Texans. I mean, they could win. The Titans could beat the Texans. And then New England, who do they have? New England has got Buffalo. Bills. I mean, they gave them a game a couple weeks ago.
Starting point is 00:31:36 And the bills are locked in at the two seed. They're not going to play anybody. Yeah, there you go. There you go, bills. Things change quickly. They do, they do. Things change quickly in this Philadelphia, Dallas game. game. CJ Gardner Johnson with a 69 yard pick six to start things off. And then Jalen Tolbert gets
Starting point is 00:31:58 in the end zone. So like, oh man, we got a ball game here, folks. Well, that's, that's about where the game ended because Philadelphia just routed the Dallas Cowboys, 41 to 7. We had Kenny Pickett, country music sensation out there running for touchdowns on the tush push. You got Tanner McKee throwing bombs to A.J. Brown and Devontas Smith for touchdowns. This was just an ass kicking And from the jump here, Guru. It's a little eagles flexing their muscles of their backup depth, I guess. Pickett, what do you think of Pickett? I mean, the guy, for one, gets to live a crap beating out of him.
Starting point is 00:32:35 He gets beat up like a cowboy fan drinking all day in the 700 level of veteran stadium in 1986. Kenny Pickett played this game with broken ribs. He got a shot before the game. and at halftime. And then it just, you know, he got two really good hits on him during the game and they finally had to take him out and put in Tanner McKee. Who looked good. Tanner McKee was three or four.
Starting point is 00:33:01 Yeah, good for him. He threw two touchdown passes. Probably should have had a third, to be honest, to A.J. Brown. Yeah, big day for DeVant to Smith, six for 120, two touchdowns. I think we're burying the lead here, though. Sequan Barclay goes over 2,000 yards on the season. 167 yards today for Seekwant. So he'll have a chance next week, week 18, to eclipse Eric Dickerson's single season rushing record.
Starting point is 00:33:26 Now, I'm an Eagles fan. I do not give a shit about the single season record. I care about the playoffs and going to the Super Bowl. So he got 2,000 yards. That's great. I don't want to see Saquan taking a pounding against the Giants trying to get this record. That means nothing to me. But I don't know.
Starting point is 00:33:43 What do you think if you were running the team? Oh, I mean, you can't really play them. just think of the downside the downside far outweighs everything else because if you let him play and he suffers a serious injury that'll sink your season and you'll never recover from that so he can't play it's so weird seeing the current standings as we record this on sunday night with my minnesota vikings currently the number one seed at 14 and 2 i mean that's unbelievable You got to win. You got to win that game in Detroit.
Starting point is 00:34:20 Otherwise, you're on the road for two games in the playoffs. That would be so very Viking. I don't think they will beat the Lions. I mean, now the loss of Dave Montgomery definitely helps a little bit. That helps. But I still think the Lions will class them, just like the Vikings outclass Green Bay, which we'll get to. Yeah. You know, if you play these Eagles, hey, Sequin came through for you in a big way, didn't
Starting point is 00:34:47 score but you got 167 yards rushing i mean j christ a j brown saved his day with that touchdown late did you see what a j brown did by the way when oh that catch was ridiculous and then throws the ball into the stands yeah right yeah but but then but then the dude who looked like the most philly Delaware valley area dude ever uh was up to like oh no it's all right man i'll give you the ball back just uh you know hook me up with some eagles tickets you're something. Yeah, I saw after the game, A.J. Brown gave him a game worn jersey. I asked my son, there you go. I'm like, what would you rather have a ball that was, you know, a guy caught in the game for a touch on or a game worn autograph jersey? I said, like, oh, absolutely, give me the jersey. So they
Starting point is 00:35:33 hooked him up. Oh, AJ Brown, uh, seems like a good dude. I can tell you this. He actually also lives in my old hometown. And, uh, he too, uh, was smart enough to go to the same pizzeria that, I went to, of course, and Mr. Joe Flacco. So these guys are all pretty smart. It's the Illuminati, basically. We know where to get good pizza. I'm not even part of the Illuminati,
Starting point is 00:35:56 but I'm a pizza guy, and I sniff it out, and I find out myself. And then I say, oh, hey, there's Joe Flacco. But yeah, I did want to say one thing.
Starting point is 00:36:06 It was a very South Jersey moment. They're watching Joe Flacco and Johnny Taylor because they, you know, they're two. South Jersey guys probably never played their schools may not have played but they probably grew up about 30 miles apart so I love saying that today you know there was a couple of plays
Starting point is 00:36:25 where they're in the backfield together I'm like oh South Jersey representing yeah I mean how much older is Joe Flacco than than JT at this point oh yeah yeah that too I mean oh like 14 years older but still South Jersey all the mother Joe Flacco I kind of look like him I think I got a haircut before the show my wife's does my haircuts now, guru. It started this during COVID. I'm like, I'm not paying for haircuts anymore. The little I have left, I'm like, I just let the wife do it and let her kind of do her thing.
Starting point is 00:36:55 All she's got to do is you kind of buzz up the sides and looks good. See, this is why I like being on a podcast because from the front, you can't see the little balding spot in the back like a lot of guys in their mid-40s. So on a podcast. And then let the wife do it and it's no longer your responsibility. Right. You know, it's like, if I look like shit, that's on you. you're stuck with me exactly exactly i don't even need to try no all right let's keep it cruising here how about my number one dFS play at quarterback this week baker mayfield 359 passing yards
Starting point is 00:37:30 and five touchdowns johnny against the carolina panthers bucks win 48 to 14 holy holy i knew they were going to get mike evans cooking and they did eight for 97 and two and a huge day for Bucky Irving. Huge 113 yards as a rusher, 77 yards as a receiver today. So if you're playing your Buccaneers, they all came through for you. Yeah, we knew Evans was going to do well. McMillan was a tough call, though. I will say, I mean, they did spread the ball around to a bunch of different dudes. I did kind of reach a Payne Durham. I stupidly played out a Rashad White prop, thinking oh i gotta get 40 yards it'll dominate just the way it just doesn't happen that way uh that got a lot more production in the passing game than i thought uh got to get culp the ball we're all culpable
Starting point is 00:38:24 i guess um and white does nothing in the passing game unbelievable he's the one guy that didn't do anything yeah i also i didn't give theelin a little bit more enough love i mean this is ridiculous uh Because he really was the only thing of note for the whole Panther team here. I regret not giving him a little bit more love. It wasn't that great schematically, even though he did well in the first matchup. So he's two for two here. But it wasn't great for Bryce Young, but he's shown definitely enough promise. You know, and even in this game, you know, it doesn't turn the ball over.
Starting point is 00:38:58 Not bad. Not bad at all. Looking fairly promising going forward. Yeah, you know, they've got the coach, got the young quarter. back. We're going to build some more weapons around Bryce Young. And, you know, obviously the news where Chuba Hubbard got ruled out late in the week, you know, that's just kind of out of nowhere. And, you know, Chubo will be the lead back next year. But I think they need one more receiver down there and they can really get some things cooking. You know, you got Coker, Legat, who knows about
Starting point is 00:39:26 feeling. You know, he's 100 years old. But better days ahead for you, Carolina Panthers fans. Just keep, keep the faith. All right, two more games on the docket, John. We're going to hit those After the break, it's the Fantasy Points podcast. All right, my wife was really into watching this Dolphins Browns game because of the weather. She loves when she sees like it's raining or snowing or whatever watching the game. And this game was brutal. I'm telling you, Dorian Thompson, Robinson against Tyrone Huntley. I mean, woof.
Starting point is 00:39:59 Are you kidding? Yeah, Tyler Huntley. Tyler Huntley, sorry. Tyrone. Snoop Huntley. It don't matter. It could have been Tyrone, they're both terrible. Huntley, though, 22 of 26 for 225 and a touchdown.
Starting point is 00:40:11 Also ran one in today. I know my son had to start him in the league. He's like, oh, I got two was out. I got to pick somebody out. I don't know. I guess Huntley it is. But I had some folks asking me, John. They're like, how can I still play Devon A. Chan without two in the lineup?
Starting point is 00:40:26 And I'm like, I'd probably rather not. And he only gets 25 yards rushing today and two for 13. So brutal day. these guys are so dependent, it seems I'm Tua, John. Yeah, I actually told the Miz to bench H.N. in his championship over Chase Brown. And I also told him to start Trey McBride over someone really good. I don't know if he listened, but yeah, that was our worst fear.
Starting point is 00:40:56 Now, I actually liked Tyreek. I was actually on this morning with Rich Gannon on Vison, talking up Tyreek, if you can believe that. and his prop was one of my top five props, believe it or not. And I checked the weather all along and it wasn't that bad. And hey, to my point of the schematic matchup, he caught all nine targets for 105. And I didn't love Johnny. He did score.
Starting point is 00:41:20 But no Waddle helped. But hey, I mean, that's what you've got to do. You got to go out and find a dub like that because, man, it's been tough sledding and navigating here when you don't have a lot of production. And then, of course, Jerome Ford gets hurt on the other side, which I had in the fantasy points of dynasty league. But there's just nasty. But I guess, hey, Judy got 18 freaking targets. So there's something to be said for that.
Starting point is 00:41:45 Of course, we all bailed from them after last week. I know. Anybody who asked, I was like, you can't start Jerry Judy in this. And, you know, he doesn't score. But still, hey, you take 12 for 94. That's a, that's a massive day. So Miami wins 20 to 3, converting two third downs on the day. Just incredible for Miami.
Starting point is 00:42:04 They're still fighting, I believe. They're still alive. There's three teams in the mix for that final spot in the AFC. We'll see Tua with that bad hip if he can come back next week. All right. Game of the day closing things out. Your Viking still alive for the overall number one seed in the NFC, 2725 winners over the Green Bay Packers.
Starting point is 00:42:23 To be honest, this game was not that close until the end. You know, it was 20 to 3 in the third quarter. And then Green Bay put together a little bit of a run here. But how about Sammy Donald? I'm, I'll put my hand up here and admit it to everybody, John. I was never a Sam Donald guy. I still might not be a Sam Donald guy after this year. He might be giving me a little vibes of, oh, God, I just lost the name.
Starting point is 00:42:48 Who's that kid you guys had at quarterback, the career backup when you guys played the Eagles in the NFC title game a couple years ago? Casey Keenum. Case Keenum. Is Sam Donald against him out of your starting lineup? I'm Casey Keenum. Oh, sorry. Finish your thought. Are they the same guy?
Starting point is 00:43:08 Case Keenham and Sam Donald? Like people in our go. Because remember that? That was a massive year a few years ago for the Vikings. Keenham had like an MVP-esque season. And they went to the NFC championship game. And then you've never heard from the guy again. He was like a gunslinger there in college, chucked it all over the field,
Starting point is 00:43:27 but not overly talented and physically not much of a physical presence to him. Whereas Sam Darnel. is freaking massive. I've stood next to Sam Donald. His head is the size of Rhode Island. I mean, he's a big dude, and he's also athletic, and he can spin it. I think what we're seeing is, I know our guy, Brent Whitefield, is not always, but has typically been somewhat critical of Sam, and I understand why he tends to break
Starting point is 00:43:59 in the pocket a little early as a panic attack, as we always say. I see him improving there. I just think that Kevin O'Connell is a damn good coach. That's it. Absolutely. So they have harnessed all the physical ability that Sam Donald has, and they've coached it up and they've coached into him much better habits and much better ways to avoid pressure and not panic and, you know, a little over our skis,
Starting point is 00:44:27 but they're coaching him up. That's it. So while it's a great story, I would let him walk because you can find another guy like that and coach him up you know i i wouldn't be stunned like if if o'connell got his hands on uh tray lance could get he could actually get tray lance to play at a decent level i that's how optimistic i am i mean look the proof is in the pudding look at look at sam dartle yeah i mean he's playing at it's really interesting he's like a he's like a top five mbp guy he is and he threw for 377 today with three touchdowns. The big thing, when you guys get to the playoffs, if you don't beat
Starting point is 00:45:05 the lines, you're going to be going on the road for a couple of games, including the second week where you could be in Philly. So that'll be real interesting to see. That's the difference. That's the difference in that game, by the way. Vikings beat the Eagles in Minnesota. And in Philly, they're just not winning that. Yeah, it's going to be fun. Hey, Justin Jefferson didn't have a target until the second quarter of this game finishes with eight for 92. Our guy Addison just keeps on trucking, six for 69 in a touchdown. Cam Acres, of course, has to score a freaking touchdown here.
Starting point is 00:45:39 So kind of a buzzkill for you, Aaron Jones owners. But the Vikings are just good, and it was a bad day for Green Bay. This was, I don't know, like Jordan Love, we've hyped a lot up here. He just didn't look great today. He hasn't looked, I don't know. In my opinion, he hasn't looked great in a while. But 19 for 30, 185 yards and one touchdown. for Jordan Love without Christian Watson today.
Starting point is 00:46:04 I mean, the story for the Vikings has been Addison. And I haven't been all in on it because I went at this little funk midseason where I'm seeing Addison. I'm like, this guy's got to get more love. And I'm losing props on him, though. But I mean, it seems like ever since I bailed from it, it's like he is finally stepping up and taking advantage of this special treatment that, Jefferson gets.
Starting point is 00:46:30 Like, as O'Connell is articulated, like, you know, O'Connell hasn't been around that long, but he's been around the NFL now for over 20 years. And he's like, I've never seen the special treatment that Jefferson gets. So they've got to get others to make defenses pay. And that's what Addison's done. I loved Hawkinson today. Now, he did hit all his props other than scoring.
Starting point is 00:46:54 So that's nice. And he was one of my top five props, the Ardage one. He crushed it. but you know dude can't buy a touchdown but hey what are we going to do because nailer kind of got that production in the middle of the field I was envisioning jalen nailer got that done and he's been kind of on on standby for months he hasn't really done crap now for green bay I look I could be talking to my ass but my my general observation is like they changed identity and lost their freaking mojo in the passing game
Starting point is 00:47:28 And part of it is can we freaking settle on a set group of receivers and kind of work with the same guys? Do we really need to try and get freaking fancy every week and get five? I mean, and look, I'm actually even talking about our guy, Bow Melton. We love Bow Melton. His dad is a friend of mine. And he's a friend of this damn podcast. But, you know, getting four or five receivers out there, I don't know, man. Like there's just no continuity.
Starting point is 00:47:55 it's just like a grab bag kind of what play we're going to run now like it just seems like LaFleur has lost his freaking mojo and their passing game has devolved to nothingness. Over the weekend, I think I talked about this on our last show is I put on a tweet about, hey, in the NFC, there's three teams that can win, lions, Vikings, Eagles, everybody else is a waste of time. All these Packer fans got up in my mentions, right? Oh, the Packers, I literally just want to quote tweet again and go, any questions? I mean, come on. You think Green Bay, this team's, you think they're going to go beat, you know, they're going to weat the Vikings again.
Starting point is 00:48:34 They're going to go Del. No, they're toast. They are absolutely effed because they lost, like I said, they don't have a passing game. And part of the problem might be Jane Reed might be, there's something going on here. Because this, this dude has completely fallen apart. this is a cliff fall of the likes of which I'm not sure I've seen of a guy without any notable drama. You know what I mean? I mean, guys have fallen off cliffs and there's been reasons why.
Starting point is 00:49:09 Like maybe they go crazy or off the field or injury. But Jane Reader like, what the hell is going on here, guys? Like this guy looked like an emerging star and now he's just a scrub. Like he's a below replacement level player right now. he doesn't have a game with over five receptions since week six it's unbelievable and if you thought wicks was the guy this week you weren't right i was not whatever you think you're going to be wrong it's tough it is tough with this team so yeah i don't think green bay is going anywhere in the play if they got to go on the road uh for all their games good luck with that uh no they're not good They have no passing game.
Starting point is 00:49:53 Again, they have, how are they going to come back? They, they have not shown that ability, really. Mm-hmm. So, well, well, John and I are going to step aside. We got to go watch Olamidi Zakias catch touchdown passes,
Starting point is 00:50:06 because apparently that's a thing now. Well, we had Zach Ertz drop one for yours truly. Oh! As we're recording this, which would have gotten me, uh, like eight points and would have really helped my chances of having a chance but no uh
Starting point is 00:50:27 Zach Ertz uh he did not he did not catch it oh boy well folks good guru and i'll be back we'll be talking about week 18 so congratulations to everybody who picked up a championship well we're proud of you hopefully you got over to fantasy points dot com and it did great proud of you and if you want to continue that hey by the way best price for next year you can get it right now Go over to FantasyPoints.com, check out the plans, get the rest of this year, including the playoffs and spring football and all that good stuff and all of next year for the very best price that we offer.
