Join today by Jim Coventry of RonaWire, repeat guest.
Starting point is 00:00:40 I've had Jim on a bunch of pods now, one of the resonant ball-knowers in fantasy football. And we're going to try to sift through what's real and what's not. Week one can sometimes trick us, and it can sometimes give us a great deal of information. We want to find out what you should be paying attention to and what you can sort of rush aside. Jim, let's just get this thing going. Week one was a really, really fun one. What was the game that was like the most entertaining one to you? Well, it has to be Baltimore or Buffalo, but my goodness, can the Ravens start figuring out a way to close out big games? And I have no ability to understand why they don't go for the fourth and three. And honestly,
Starting point is 00:01:33 the third down, just let Lamar run the ball. Just two plays. because there is no world that they were going to punt that ball and Josh Allen was not going to get the field goal. And they can look at numbers and charts all day long and say percentages. There is no way Josh Allen wasn't winning that game. And they would have been better off giving in the ball they missed on fourth down and letting them kick a field goal and leave time on the clock. Yeah. It's an absolutely crazy one that Baltimore lost that game. There's a lot of like viral tweets going around from like people who made these huge bets on Baltimore,
Starting point is 00:02:07 or basically counting their money when they were up that much. And it's sort of like a lot of times the local fans don't necessarily line up with national opinions of things where we've seen this for years with like Mike Tomlin and Pittsburgh where Pittsburgh Steeler fans are like sometimes very frustrated with Mike Tomlin, talk about making a coaching change. And then the rest of us, every other football fan is like, are you people kidding me? Mike Tomlin would be hired by about 25 teams in the NFL tomorrow. It's sort of like that with a segment of Baltimore Ravens fans.
Starting point is 00:02:36 It's almost sacrilege, but there's Baltimore Ravens fans who don't want Harbaugh anymore because Harbaugh loses big games. And Harbaugh gives up double-digit point leads in the fourth quarter, like a little bit at a higher rate than you'd want to see for a coach that's been just this successful. And it's another one of these where if Harbaugh went on the open market, there'd be 25 teams to be willing to hire them. But Ravens fans are getting a little bit frustrated, and this one's certainly not going to help. they had that game in the bag, Jim. I mean, it looked like Baltimore was like just rolling. And Derek Henry, of course, he is what we thought he was. And Derek Henry is not a player we're going to talk about today because sort of know exactly
Starting point is 00:03:15 what Derek Henry is. He's an absolute stud. Spoiler alert, we might talk about another Baltimore Raven a little later. First question on factor fiction. Tyler Warren is a top five fantasy tight end moving forward for the rest of the season. Unbelievable debut. Indianapolis completely in control of the game, wins by 100.
Starting point is 00:03:36 And Tyler Warren still is able to generate nine targets, looks very good, had that manufactured rush attempt as well, Jim, which we know that's in his bag as a player. Is Tyler Warren a top five tight end rest of season? He may be. A, I'm not impressed at the tight end field outside of the top three. And who knows how long kiddles out,
Starting point is 00:03:58 but really outside the top three, anybody could be the tight end four, quite honestly. This is a great game for Warren, of course. And I said that he and Pittman was split targets. And they did nine and eight at 17 targets for the top two guys. Josh Downs was not involved, three targets. Now, maybe it's a Daniel Jones thing. But I have to think Josh Downs, look, my opinion, Josh Towns is their best receiver.
Starting point is 00:04:18 That's just my opinion, could be wrong. And the fact that he wasn't involved, I don't know if they fixed that or maybe just in this iteration of the offense. Maybe he's square peg round hole. Maybe that's possible. So I do think this could work out well. I think this is a game Miami is horrific on defense. They have a pass rush to a degree, but they have no coverage skills.
Starting point is 00:04:40 They have no run-stopping ability. So anything against Miami, it's hard to take one week, but I can't dispute what you're saying. Warren could easily be a top five tight end. Yeah, I mean, I think you nailed it. And I think that one of the reasons you don't see and people will just, it's very easy. Josh Downs backers will, you know, there's a lot of people out there who agree with you that he's a special talent as a route runner. He certainly jumps off the page on fantasy points data from last year.
Starting point is 00:05:06 A lot of what Josh Downs was able to do last season was truly special from an analytics department. And also just real life football, you could squint and see the talent. It doesn't take a whole lot. But yeah, I mean, I think that Tyler Warren, I brought this up during the summer, not a victory lap, but I said that Tyler Warren could be the reason that Josh Downs doesn't fire. I predicted Tyler Warren would lead Indianapolis in targets this year. That could very much be up in the air. Michael Pittman looks fully healthy, but I think you nailed it.
Starting point is 00:05:35 And the Josh Downs backers can easily just point to game flow and say, let's see what Josh Downs does against Denver in a game that should be much, much more competitive than this Miami one. But Jim, it didn't hurt Tyler Warren. It didn't hurt Michael Pittman generating targets. So like in a game where they didn't have to really pass the ball and be successful passing the ball, Miami was coughing it up. coughing it up inside of the 50 yard line multiple times.
Starting point is 00:06:00 But it was really for me, Tyler Warren, this is the dude. I think Tyler Warren's going to end up being the best pick you could have made of any Indianapolis Colt this season at ADP. And I think he will be a top five score at the position. Now, like you said, it's an indictment on the tight end position overall. But it's also a trend where these teams are using these rookie tight ends more and more. We're going to talk about Harold Fanon a little bit later. but you're saying maybe, and I'm saying true.
Starting point is 00:06:28 Let's start to go with another one. Now, I had you on a podcast this summer. You came on a couple of them, just some great, great takes, Jim, as always. But one of the most fun episodes we did was very early on. We talked about offensive coordinators. We went over all of the new OCs, your expectations of them, some players we thought would benefit from them. And I'm just going to say it. I think Tanner Engstrand was the most impressive.
Starting point is 00:06:55 year one offensive coordinator right out the gate. I was very, very impressed. I think a lot of Jets fans were as well. He seems to really understand what he's working with on this offense. And I think a lot of times you get these very arrogant offensive coordinators in all walks of football, from high school to college to the NFL that say, you know, my system, I'm just, I'm a special brain. My system is going to be able to elevate the guys around me. And that's what we're doing. But it seems like Angstrand is really catering to what his players' talents are. I think he was the most impressive first year OC on display this past week. Do you agree, true or false? True. Definitely give him credit, but this isn't real hard to do. You got Garrett
Starting point is 00:07:42 Wilson, who for three years going into this year, been double covered, had horrible quarterbacks, and he's productive every year. Justin Fields already has a 1300-yard season with DJ Moore in 13 games. So I thought that there was no issue for Wilson going. Breece Hall, I was, I was saying bunk to all the talk all year, Aaron Glenn. Oh, it's a committee. I go, are you serious? Would you watch Breece Hall who doesn't have a sprained MCL this year? He is like a top five running back.
Starting point is 00:08:07 Grayland Allen is a top 35 running back. There is no backfield split here unless Aaron Glenn is psycho. And he clearly wasn't because Breeze Hall is a superstar and we saw what we knew he was. And then Justin Beald's, like I said, he can lock on a number one receiver. So give Engstrand credit, but what were they going to do? Throwed Josh Reynolds? I know. We're going to give the ball of Braylen Allen?
Starting point is 00:08:28 No. So Engstrand gets credit for sure. But this is two superstars and Justin Fields who has a defined role. And this was going, I mean, did I say they scored 30 against Pittsburgh? No. I think that was a beautiful thing. But I always thought those three could do really well this year. I drafted all three of them aggressively.
Starting point is 00:08:46 Yeah, I think that that's like, Bruce Hall, and again, I'm a big Braylin Allen backer. And he did look really good on the touchdown run. But yeah, I mean, Bruce Hall looks like the ADP steal out of the fifth round running backs. He was falling to, I mean, I had a point in a big draft, in a big draft like in the final week of the drafting season,
Starting point is 00:09:06 in an NFFC league where I got him at 57 overall. And I feel like that was sort of found money. I think if we were drafting again today, just off being able to see one week of NFL play, Bruce Hall would jump 20 spots. he'd easily be in the third round. So Brees Hall 5.6 yards per carry. Another thing that impressed me with Angstrand is we saw,
Starting point is 00:09:29 we knew it was going to be a low volume pass attack, but Brees Hall had four targets, which very impressive, caught two of them for 38 yards. So he knows he needs to use Brees Hall as a receiver. He's going to do that. And I think that there's a chance that we see a little bit more volume from Braylon Allen in certain weeks where they're able to run the ball. There's two carries to Isaiah Davis.
Starting point is 00:09:49 But like you said, Wilson nine targets out of only 21 total for the team. Right. I mean, unbelievable how. And Garrett Wilson, it's his play really seems to match up with Justin Fields where Fields's ability to extend time in the pocket and not just get rid of the ball is a real benefit to Wilson. Wilson just really, really strong. He looks like he's going to deliver at ADP. We saw him drop it into round four in those last few weeks of drafts. But the player I really want to pick your brain on, Justin Fields,
Starting point is 00:10:20 because Jim, Justin Fields with 48 rushing yards and two rushing scores also adds 218 yards as a passer and a touchdown. This could end up being the steel in fantasy drafts because of the rushing upside. It was very difficult to find high-level rushing production at the quarterback spot this year. Fields was sort of a low-end QB1, high-end QB2 throughout the draft process. Looks like to me like this is the quarterback is going to be a top six finisher. based on what I saw from Engstrand and from Fields. And realistically, Fields goes 12 carries for 48 yards. That's because Pittsburgh has a really good defense.
Starting point is 00:10:57 There are games. We're going to see Fields running for 80 yards. That's not, I mean, he's done that. His career average is in that range where he, you know, and not well, in the 60 range, but he has plenty of like that one 11, or 43 yard season. He was getting games at 80. So he's going to put up big rushing numbers.
Starting point is 00:11:13 There's no doubt, especially in the matchups, are a little bit more favorable. But this was exciting. And I think a lot of narrative got to fantasy managers because there was a brief window when Fields first signed where he was getting taken in drafts a little more aggressively. And then like you said, the market just auto adjusted. And they said, now we're going to put him like right around like you said, borderline tight end one range. And we saw, and I say this every year, Tim Tebow was a viable fantasy starting quarterback and he couldn't pass the ball. If you can run, you are very, very viable.
Starting point is 00:11:46 And obviously Justin Fields can run at the best of them. Yeah, and I blame the Jets beat reporters a lot because there was a lot of negativity throughout July and August about Fields in camp. But it doesn't really matter. And I think the Jets beat reporter is a little bit of a disservice to the fantasy community with that one with Fields. Because like you said, I mean, last year the guy was a top six quarterback in those, what was it, the first four weeks of the season before being replaced by Russell Wilson, first six weeks of the season. So Justin Fields fully back looked really, really good. a lot of optimism for this Jets offense, and they're highly consolidated, Jim.
Starting point is 00:12:22 We don't have to worry about the tertiary pieces. I mean, Braylon Allen might be the third fiddle of the scope position players, and he was sort of a non-factor. Mason Taylor, sort of a non-factor. It's all Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall, a ton of Justin Fields, really, really fun one. Let's take a quick break. When we come back, we're talking about Jackson, Smith, and Jigba,
Starting point is 00:12:42 who might have been the most mispriced wide receiver of this entire draft class. At Capital One, We're more than just a credit card company. Starting point is 00:14:01 Welcome back, Fantasy Football Daily. Theo Greminger with Jim Coventry. Jim, let everybody know what you've got going on at Rodelwire. We just had Alan Soslowski on Dynasty Life like two weeks ago, bringing you guys in. You guys putting out really strong work. What is like a week look like for you? How can people consume your content? Yeah, live stream Wednesday.
Starting point is 00:14:21 We look at the early lineups, starts it on Sunday. And then reaction shows on Sunday night. So you get links to all those of my ex at Jim Coventry NFL. Certainly that takes you everywhere, whether it's video, audio, or it's articles. Now, articles are behind the paywall. So if you're interested in Roto Wire, I can get you 15% up. Use the code YouTube 15 to check out. That's the way to get my four articles a week.
Starting point is 00:14:43 But everything else, it's right out there on the actual. So I had Alan Soslowski on Dynasty Life recently. He dropped his big hot takes for the season. One of his hot takes, which he looks very, very smart on, was Keon Coleman becoming like a wide receiver one in Buffalo. He predicted Keon Coleman at this time next year could be a wide receiver one in Dynasty, a little hot, little spicy. But hey, after one week, Alan is running absolutely pure. Keon Coleman came out with a 23.9% target share in week one. he had had eight receptions for 112 yards. And Buffalo went to him in big situations. He caught the touchdown pass.
Starting point is 00:15:23 This is a player that is still very, very young and looks to be ascending, Jim. Like this is a player that looks like it could be the year to breakout. I feel great about it. True or false, Keon Coleman finishes as a top 24 scorer at the wide receiver position this season. Oh, yes, definitely true on that for sure. And his ADP was actually going up all preseason. People were kind of on to him, but they knew they could get him cheaper.
Starting point is 00:15:50 So nobody ever had to steam him up more than what he did. But yes, outside ball winner, he had four, like weeks four through eight, but till the wrist injury, he was coming on. He was averaging 50-something yards a game. And that injury to his wrist, he chipped a bone in his wrist. That's why he wasn't a factor after that. So he was on his way to figuring things out. Now he gets to pick up where he left off.
Starting point is 00:16:12 Oh, yeah, wheels up on this. young man. He's going to have a great season. Yeah, shout out to Alan Soslowski. I agree with you. I think Keon Coleman is sort of there. And for me, it's going to him in those key situations. It was a two-point conversion situation and also that touchdown pass when it really mattered a lot for Buffalo in a very, very key situation. Coleman, I mean, we think back to him as a prospect. They took him ahead of Vlad McConkey. This is an organization that really believed in him. Coleman looks like he's set to be one of this year's breakouts, really, really a fun player. So yeah, we'll give Val in his props once in a while.
Starting point is 00:16:46 Oh, yeah. Let's talk about a wide receiver that was going in a high range. We're talking about Jackson Smith and Jigba, who was a early third round pick. But there were some naysayers in fantasy football talking about JSN where things worried them like a quarterback change. Things worried them like a lack of slot snaps. The two of us were very bullish on him throughout the summer. are talking about the consolidation of targets, how JSN is just in a good spot. But looking right now, true or false, Jackson Smith and Jigba should have been selected
Starting point is 00:17:23 before A.J. Brown and Ladd McConkey. Absolutely true. The whole point was, and you kind of brought it up and we talked about it all off season. Who else are they throwing the ball to? Cooper Cup is washed. Say what you want. Sean McVeigh relegated him out. You know if McVeigh did that?
Starting point is 00:17:39 Cup was done. They have nobody. Their roster is barren. So Smith and Jigba, 59% target share. I know that's not going to continue, but the whole point was, who are they going to throw the ball to? And the answer is JSN all day, every day. They're going to have to pass.
Starting point is 00:17:57 He's going to end up with a ridiculous, like 35% target share. And you don't hear of that. But who they throw in the ball to, Theo? Yeah, and the slot rate was only at 38%. And I think that we talked about that as sort of a positive for him, because he's going to get more big play opportunities. Last year, you mentioned the target share. He was a 100 catch player that didn't have like a 25% target share.
Starting point is 00:18:21 And then this past week, unbelievable. He was also, according to Fantasy Points data, a 66.7% first read rate guy. So they are continually going to him whenever it matters early and often. I mean, just unbelievable statistics for JSN. And it was in a low scoring game. I think we could end up seeing Seattle in some higher scoring type environments where maybe it seemed like they were just trying to take the air out of the football at times against San Francisco, shorten that game. They had a chance to win. For me, I think once the game flow sort of opens up for Seattle, like you said, they don't have the horses.
Starting point is 00:18:58 Cooper Cup looks completely washed. I would be stashing Torrey Horton based on the fact that they just don't have a whole lot there. But it's all JSN. It's JSN and also Zach Charbonnet. I think we're going to see a lot of those two guys and hold out a little bit of hope for the Kenneth Walkerbackers just because we'll light a candle for them. I have my couple Walker bags,
Starting point is 00:19:18 but I hope are not extinguished according to Jim Coventry. But yeah, JSN absolutely should have been a second round pick. You can write that one in ink. Here's a fun one. True or false. Keenan Allen is usable in fantasy on a week in, week out basis. The LA Chargers have three wide receivers who all produced in week one.
Starting point is 00:19:38 Ladd-McConkey, as expected, Quentin Johnston, who now has 10 touchdown catches his last 16 games played, Jim, and Keenan Allen. Keenan Allen, the connection with Justin Herbert that we saw in 2023, it was like riding a bike. Justin Herbert loves targeting Keenan Allen. And I think one thing that's interesting about this situation, Jim, is a lack of targets to the running backs and the tight ends. They sort of de-emphasize both of those positions, hyper-targeting these three wide receivers. Keenan Allen in your flex this week without hesitation. True until he's injured. And he's not injured now.
Starting point is 00:20:16 So you're starting him. He will get injured, but he's not injured now. And that's all that matters. Theo, the biggest, I'm going to say the biggest surprise of week one. There are a lot of surprises is that positive game script for the chargers against the chiefs. And they threw 34 passes to 18 non-quarterback runs. It's a two to one ratio with Greg Roman. calling the offense. Nobody saw that coming. They draft Hampton. They bring in Nadja Harris.
Starting point is 00:20:43 They couldn't have told you any more loudly that they were all in on the run. But they end up doing the right thing. You put the ball in the hands at a superstar quarterback and let him handle business. And you mentioned it with Keenan Allen. And I said McCocky is going to, his upside is cap now because there are two number one reads on a money down because Herbert has supreme confidence in both of those receivers. McConkey and Allen. Last year, it was only McConkey on a money down. Now it's either one of them because Herbert loves
Starting point is 00:21:14 of both. Yeah, I mean, I think with Ladd McConkey, it's a little bit sobering because he's an incredible talent, one of the better separators in the NFL. But the whole argument with McConkey this summer was he's going to be able to overcome sort of what we've seen historically with Greg Roman because he's going to have this absurd target share and this absurd target total. Anytime Keenan Allen is healthy, the target share is is capped for McConkey. And certainly McConkey backers are sitting there
Starting point is 00:21:46 saying, hey, yo guys, did you watch the game? They almost connected with McConkey on that touchdown catch. It maybe would have changed the narrative. But at the end of the day, it's targets. It's targets. It's targets. It's targets. You could be the best separator in the league. And you could be extremely efficient, which McConkey will be. But when I'm drafting a guy, at 15, 20 overall, like some people were investing lad. I want to draft somebody that I think has wide receiver one overall potential, not just somebody who is going to have a solid season. So Keenan Allen, absolutely, if you're in a shallow format,
Starting point is 00:22:18 he happened to be on the waiver wire, scoop him up, put him right in your lineup. And if you had him on your bench last week, I think put him right in the lineup. Quentin Johnston's interesting too, Jim, because I think people like pack their expectations of Johnston completely after that rookie season where he's become sort of a punch line, but 10 touchdowns, his last 16 games played, and they're not utilizing the tight end.
Starting point is 00:22:40 Quentin Johnson, if this team lives in the red zone, which they could, Ben Quentin Johnson, I think is going to continue to have a few spike weeks. But Keenan Allen, definitely the number two option this passing game, completely agree with you on that one. All right, let's go true or false. The Lions performance in week one was a one off, and they will turn things around. We should also be very excited about seeing Jemir Gibbs with 10 catches. John Morton and the Lions were unlucky to have to play that strong Green Bay Packers defense,
Starting point is 00:23:15 and there's nothing to see here. They're going to turn it around, Jim. Half true, half false. Like you said, they won't play to Packers every week. I'll give them that. But that turnover on the interior line, I was saying for Jared Gough, he's an extremely limited quarterback. He needs all the infrastructure.
Starting point is 00:23:34 Perfect. Remember, Sean McVeigh ran him out of town. So there's, and now Ben Johnson was perfect. Everything was schemed up. Play action rate was super high. The schemeed up receivers open were great. Ball got out quick. None of that. None of that. They had some play action. It wasn't to the rate that Ben Johnson had. This is going to be a problem because defense are going to throw stuff at that interior line. And now the problem is John Morton's going to have to have answers. That's the difference between. mean the genius coach and just bringing some dude in. Having the answers mid-game. Most coaches don't have that. McVeigh has it. Shanahan has that. Ben Johnson had that.
Starting point is 00:24:15 It's a handful of dudes. These other guys who come in, that's why the Bears didn't hire John Morton. They hired Ben Johnson. So I'm very terrified about the Lions. And Gibbs, 64% of the snaps, Montgomery 38. That's just pretty normal the last year. but the rushes again nine rushes to 11 Montgomery outrushed them the targets did go 10 to 4 Gibbs
Starting point is 00:24:39 but those that thought the genie was out of the bottle with Gibbs and it was going to be completely his backfield it's pretty much the timeshare it was and if they weren't getting spanked on the scoreboard it would have been closer with the work split so that works split's still there the 10 catches yes but that's an indictment on the offense if you have to throw these weren't just oh let's get the ball to jimmyri Gibbs no it was Jared golf was under siege what do I do Oh, get rid of it, hot potato. All right, then here you go, Jamir Gibbs. That's what that was.
Starting point is 00:25:06 It wasn't like we're getting Gibbs ball. It's like, we're screwed. Yeah, the offensive line is, I think, the biggest concern. I do think from like a week in, week out basis, the guy's not going to be Ben Johnson, but they can improve. I think that Green Bay team is one of the real contenders to really to win the Super Bowl at this point after the Michael Parsons pick up. So for me, I'll say a little bit incomplete. Don't want to go true.
Starting point is 00:25:29 Don't want to go false. Yes. And listen, I'll take 64. a lot of times last year we saw the 50-50 backfield. So I'll take six. If we can maintain 65% Jemir Gibbs and even if it's opportunistic pass catching, they're trying to get the ball to him in space at times. I think that he's going to pay off big time. So Gibbs, I feel great about and I think you probably feel the best about Jemir Gibbs of any lion. Because again, if the offensive line regresses, I think it'll be a
Starting point is 00:25:57 little bit more problematic for Jared Goff and Jemir Gibbs will be the one that they kind of lean on more and more. So this is a real quick go ahead. Real quick Theo, the percentage to Gibbs was game script driven. They were down 17 to 3 in the second quarter. So that was never going to be a Montgomery game. I think it's closer. It's going to be much closer than that because the indication was and they came out, it would be. True or false. Jackson Dart is the New York Giants starter by week five. Russell Wilson might be the worst starter in the NFL right now, Jim. True, definitely true. They've got to get Russell Wilson out of there.
Starting point is 00:26:35 I mean, as to why they brought him in, maybe Brian Daibble thinking he could save his job, smoking mirrors of him. But they were in the red zone quite a bit. They had like eight plays inside the five yard line, and they didn't come close to scoring. It was brutal. Yeah, Russ is cooked.
Starting point is 00:26:50 Don't let Russ cook. Russ is cooked. So I've heard some mixed opinions on this one. I think they should start Jackson Dart this week. Jim. I would just make the change. Some people have said, and Joe Dolan said this. Joe Dolan said, you got to wait for Andrew Thomas to come back. I've heard other people say, hey, let's wait till they get the New Orleans Saints so he can start off against the defense that's maybe a little bit softer, a little more manageable type environment. I don't think there's really
Starting point is 00:27:16 any benefit at that. I think you just throw him out there to the wolves and let him do his thing. What do you think about people making those other arguments? You know, these are all comfortable NFL answers is like, you know, these are things that we all hear for decades, you know, put him in a soft landing spot, whatever, just like you said, throw him to the wolves. I know there's quarterbacks to get ruined, like think back to David Carr, Houston Texans. You know, he was sacked 78 times and it gives rookie year and some said that undid him. Sometimes that happens, but I think most time it doesn't. Most of the time, the player takes his lumps and improves.
Starting point is 00:27:52 Yeah, I'm with you. And I think you just get more starts out of him. it sort of fast tracks the process. If there's mistakes to be made, you make him early in the year. Jackson Dart has mobility, and there's a lot to like with, like, Malik neighbors. Wondale Robinson keeps doing what he does. I think that this offense could turn around a little bit. A lot of Tyrone Tracy, really not a whole lot of scatibo.
Starting point is 00:28:14 I wonder if that kind of changes a little bit moving forward. Tracy dominated the snaps there, but they've got to get that thing going. It was just such a beat down. Washington just toyed with them. So I think the writing's on the wall and Giants fans are not happy. Brian Daible loses games all the time. His one lifeline for being the coach next year
Starting point is 00:28:34 could be Jackson Dart ascending over the second half of the year, them having positive momentum. And they say, hey, coach, let's see this thing through. Let's give you a year with Dart behind center. So if I'm Brian Daibel, I want this change immediately. Ella McKay, coming to Theaters December 12th. Your father's here. Why?
Starting point is 00:28:51 A heartwarming new comedy from James L. I'm a different person. I have never been my life out this way about any other woman. Jesus! I wasn't counting your mother! It's a perfect holiday comedy about an imperfect family. You can use a scream, Ella. Starring Emma Mackey, Jeannie Lee Curtis, Camel Nanjani, Iowa Debrie, with Albert Brooks and Woody Harrelson.
Starting point is 00:29:12 You should do that every afternoon. Ella McKay. Ontario, the wait is over. The gold standard of online casinos has arrived. Harold Fanon had seven catches tied Tyler Warren and Harold Fanon tie an NFL record for the most
Starting point is 00:30:29 catches by a rookie tight end in the NFL opener ever. And Harold Fanon leads Cleveland with a 20% target share. They also got him a lot of touches early gym, gave him the manufactured rush attempt, three catches in the first quarter. Seems like they've got a plan for Harold Fanon. Is this Isaiah likely part two or is this Harold Fanon's the real deal in a situation where going to use them. Incomplete.
Starting point is 00:30:55 And it's incomplete because Quinn Sean Judkins is probably going to be on the field. So they had no running game. They threw 45 times. And it wasn't this game was positive game script. This game was close from whistle. They should have won this game. They should have won my gosh. You know, and I was saying is Matt Prater was available until Tuesday of that week.
Starting point is 00:31:13 And why they can't bring in a kicker that can actually make a field goal last year. I remember I came remember who the dude was. It was horrible. And they go back with another horrible kicker. Seriously, just take a field goal so they can win a game once in a while. But so when Judkins is in there, remember the offense is completely changed back to the pre-Dashon Watson days. They're going to put heavy personnel. That's why Fanon's on the field.
Starting point is 00:31:36 They'll put a fullback on the field. The offensive line, most of those players were around before Watson. That's when they used to block more of the zone scheme. They're back to that. They're to their strength. This team does want to run and use play action. It's a real part of their identity. So when Judkins is in, those 45 pass attempts are hopefully going to get down to 30.
Starting point is 00:31:56 Now you're going to have the snapshot. It was still Joku getting more snaps. And I know the targets were 9 to 6, 86% snapshot for Njoku, 71% for Fannin. Fanon's going to be really good. I think the pie is going to shrink. And that's the only reason. I think he's a really good player and he's going to be used like you say. But I think that pie is going to shrink because Judkins will at least be decent in my opinion.
Starting point is 00:32:19 Yeah, I think that it's the big result of Judkins coming back is it'll be zero drum forward. I think Dylan Samson has a lot more juice. I know they've liked Ford in the past, but it's not even close. Samson looked good. Samson is not a high volume runner by any means. He's miscast in that role. He'll be the change of pace back as a ball carrier. He'll get a lot of the targets out of the backfield.
Starting point is 00:32:44 This one I might push back on. I think Fanon, just the fact it was game one and they had this, this massive. plan for him. He's also just so young, Jim, where he's one of the youngest tight ends in the NFL, and they had that sort of reliance on him. I think all lean to true on this one. I think Fannin, while he's not Tyler Warren, I think he can be a tight end one. And there's so much contingent upside in that offense where Tillman, Judy, and Joku, if any of those guys misses any time, it's Harold Fannin to the moon. And then, yeah, and also we'll throw light a candle for this one. David and Joku was almost traded last trade deadline.
Starting point is 00:33:20 There was all those rumors with the local beat reporters. Maybe they'll move in Joku. They didn't. This year, if they move in Joku, Fanon could be like a top five tight end down the stretch. So if he's available in any of your leagues, prioritize Fanon, go ahead and get some.
Starting point is 00:33:34 Not in my league, bro, but in some people's leagues, he's available. Here's true or false. Zay Flowers is real. This is not a mirage. Mark Andrews is cooked. and the Ravens are going to utilize Zayfell Flowers as the top read in their passing game throughout the season. He had a 47% target share, seven catches 143 yards.
Starting point is 00:33:57 And it's just how good he looks, how elusive he is in the open field, how explosive he is. It's sort of a Derek Henry, Lamar Jackson do their thing. But anytime they pass the ball, Zay Flowers is going to get schemed up. Hard falls. Very, very hard falls. This is why I do a start sit show on Sunday. I give you the why. And before the game, I told everybody, if you got Zay Flowers to the moon this week.
Starting point is 00:34:20 Why? Patrick Ricard was out. Isaiah likely was out. The offense was not going to be itself. What they were going to have to do is because when teams play the Ravens, they got to prepare for the 22 and a 21 personnel and they got to bring everybody down in the box. And that's a lot of where Flowers lives. And so what happens is in those scenarios, Lamar wins deep. That's why Bateman.
Starting point is 00:34:39 That's why Andrews do well. Well, I knew in this game, Buffalo wants to live in nickel. And with no Ricard, with no. likely they'd be able to live in a nickel that means that they could get shredded underneath. And so that whole game script was always going to be Zay Flowers because it was never going to be an Andrews game because God forbid he might have actually had the block in his game because they didn't have any other Charlie Kohler a little bit. But Andrews was not going to have the downfield shots because the defense could play over
Starting point is 00:35:03 the top. So this was never going to work. But once they get Ricard and likely recard back, he's the key. It doesn't matter if likely's there. But if he is, that helps. But once that happens, it's back to the 8.8 yards per 10. which is going to be Bateman and it's going to be Andrews just like it was at the end of last year. When we always saw one game from Flowers with 12 PPR points from week 10 on last year,
Starting point is 00:35:25 and it was because of the dynamic of how you have to play them. That's coming back when healthy players show up. Yeah, the likely, I think when like it comes back, likely was a big beneficiary from this week one though because of Mark Andrews looking so cooked. There is a pathway for likely to just take over the tight end spot in my opinion. No. You don't think so? I think Andrews looks like I just explained. The downfield role was gone because of the personnel packages,
Starting point is 00:35:48 the Ravens trotted out. McDermott was able to go to his typical base over the top defense to not give up explosives. That's Andrew's game. But once they get Ricard back, teams got to play. You cannot play them with Ricard in the field without like seven and sometimes eight men in the box. That's why Jackson threw 41 touchdowns last year.
Starting point is 00:36:06 That's why Andrews had a 20% touchdown rate because that's his role. His role wasn't available in this game. It likely is not a player. We will follow this one up. We will follow this one up for the Andrews versus likely production. We're going to have to get a podcast on the books like maybe week 10, week 10, Jim. We'll follow this one up. Yes, sir.
Starting point is 00:36:25 I will say the Mark Andrews coming out of the gate back to back seasons with complete duds, not a great look, not a great look. Patrick Ricard, notwithstanding, I think they would try to get the ball in the guy's hands a little bit. So let's take one more quick break. And when we come back, we're going to talk about. a challenger for the wide receiver one overall. Don't let one bad leg haunt your parlay. Parleys turn into payouts and now even near misses won't haunt your bet. This is a fun one. True or false? Puka Nakua, this could be his wide receiver one overall season. We saw him with a 76% slot rate. this week. Unbelievable. Puka comes out the gate, just does his thing. But usage wise,
Starting point is 00:39:15 taking over a ton of like the former Cooper Cup snaps as a as a slot receiver, does his usual thing, has double digit targets, 11 targets, catches 10 of them for 130 yards. Everything is there for Pukua to just have a smash season. It's in the realm, but it's probably false. already was bleeding from his face in this game. He takes up pounding. He came back in, though. He did. He did. He did. But he is a phenomenal blocker. And McVeigh expects him to block. So he takes a lot of collisions. And then he takes the collisions because of the types of routes he runs. So his durability is always going to be questioned. And I love it. He gets off the turf most of the time. But that adds up.
Starting point is 00:40:02 Here's the other thing. I was worried for Devante Adams in this game because Devante Adams did not have many preseason reps with Stafford missing almost a whole summer of the back. I do think they're both going to be heavily involved. Obviously, NACU is the number one. Adams is the number two. But I think the target split is going to be closer as Stafford gets a little time to work with it. A lot of those throws are done before the defense reacts. And I don't think Adams is to that level with Stafford. NACA clearly is. So I think NACA is still going to be dominant, still going to be phenomenal. Top five receiver for sure. But I think Adams' cut. enough targets that he's probably wide receiver four or five,
Starting point is 00:40:39 but I don't think he's wide receiver one. Yeah, I think that's probably about right. I think at the end of the day, Nakua's just not a huge touchdown score also. So it's really a volume bet with him. And Adams is going to have his weeks for sure. But definitely some positivity there. And I think if you drafted Pukkahua inside a round two,
Starting point is 00:40:59 you feel just great about things. True or false, Ricky Purcell is going to be the biggest beneficiary. for George Kittle missing time with a hamstring injury in San Francisco. Probably true. Defenses will be able to adjust now because Kittle's a massive weapon taken out of there. And so Piersall is going to get more attention. He had the 42-yard catch, which was beautiful in that game that really salvaged his day, which was a good day because of that big catch.
Starting point is 00:41:26 Yeah, seven targets. But yes. So opportunity, you're right. Theo will be there. But I think more defensive attention. And Brock Purdy is apparently hurt. Toe shoulder, toe worse than shoulder. Mac Jones, I know he makes Brian Thomas go nuclear.
Starting point is 00:41:41 So maybe there's that. There's a little dig right there, of course. You know how that goes. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Shout out to Alan Soski for the Trevor Lawrence love, too. So I'll say, I'll say list this. It'll be very interesting to see Mac Jones back there.
Starting point is 00:41:55 Shanahan's always had sort of an affinity for Mac Jones. We remember when Mac Jones was a prospect, heavily linked. And I think sometimes these guys like Shanahan are like, what could I do with Mac Jones? I remember him as a prospect. I wanted this guy. There was rumors they would go Mac Jones over Trey Lance up until draft day. And it could have been a smokescreen, but they showed it wasn't because they actually brought Mac Jones in this offseason. So that Shanahan's been waiting for this moment.
Starting point is 00:42:22 I think the offense could be a little bit better than expected with Mac Jones behind center. I will say true, Ricky Purcell is the beneficiary because like you said, Mac Jones is a yolo ball guy. He'll force it in there. Jim, it's not like he's trying to hold on to his starting job forever or something here. What does he care? He's going to push it down the field. You're right. It's going to be, and I think from a realistic perspective, personal benefits,
Starting point is 00:42:45 but it's going to be a lot of Christian McCaffrey about as much as he can handle. I think Brian Robinson sees increased touches this week. Wasn't good last week. A lot of people complaining about Brian Robinson, but just based on the lack of players they have, and George Kittle being just a massive player for them. Now they, and going from losing Debo Samuel, and now losing George Kittle, a lot of their offensive identity is just completely gone.
Starting point is 00:43:10 I think that they can establish that with Christian McCaffrey as much as he can handle. And to keep defenses honest and keep McCaffrey fresh, I think you're going to see increased opportunities for Robinson just to soften up a defense. And maybe those empty calorie touches, they're not going to force CMC to have 30 touches this week. But a lot of McCaffrey as a receiver,
Starting point is 00:43:32 I mean, McCaffrey might be the number one running back. this week. So really a lot to like there if you're McCaffrey manager. And I think if you're 49ers manager, don't panic. I think Shanahan does have a plan to win with Mack Jones. And it's a New Orleans Saints. So it's not that hard an opponent here. Let's go true or false. Travis Eton is fully back. Or do you want to stash some basal tutin? Tank Biggs me traded to the Philadelphia Eagles. The running back room is starting to, we have a little bit more clarity now on, Jacksonville's running back room moving forward. ETIN played really, really well this past week, though, Jim.
Starting point is 00:44:09 True on ETIN, and I believe he's bought himself at least a month of being the leadback. And if he does anything close to what he did in the season opener, then he probably bought himself a whole season of being the guy. Look, Liam Cohen wants to win football games, and Travis ETIN looked like he's part of that solution. ETN has had good seasons. He's had brutal coaching, brutal offensive lines. The line might not, but you have much better, but the coaching is significantly better.
Starting point is 00:44:39 So I think E.TN, I think he deserves an opportunity to show the back he really is. Tootin, again, I always questioned from the combine, his agility and his film, the agility. He's a fast, straight line guy. But you need more than that. And I think E.T.N has more wiggle. And I think that's really what's needed to make this offense work. Yeah, I'll say that Travis Eton, I wish I had. a lot more exposure to right now.
Starting point is 00:45:04 Really, really a strong opening game for him. It looks like we're watching 2023 Travis CTN. And it's a great, great fit here. We also know that there's going to be opportunities for more targets in the out of coming out of the backfield. That's just an M.O. staple of Liam Cohen. Carolina looked just horrendous. Jacksonville completely in control of that game.
Starting point is 00:45:26 I think BTJ is going to trend up this week. They missed him on a lot of throws. And I think that they also missed Travis Hunter on a potentially really long touchdown where a Carolina Panthers defensive back got a fingertip on it. So I feel like Liam Cohen did a very nice job, but we don't really know yet about this Jacksonville team until we see them play somebody a little bit better, completely disappointed with what I saw out of Dave Canales in year two with Bryce Young behind center, really, really disappointing
Starting point is 00:45:54 outcome there. I do think Ted McMillan's in store for a bounce back this week, some really, really strong usage out of McMillan, just not a whole lot else in Carolina. Xavier Liget, you go ahead and cut them. The guy's pretty much a nothing for fantasy. Okay, Jim, we talked a lot about true or false. Give us a player or two that you have your eye on that's going to have a big breakout this week or a player you just feel very confident is going to deliver a strong fantasy performance.
Starting point is 00:46:21 I'm going to go Elyke-I-Manner. I love it. You know what? He played Denver. This gives you a chance. He's still on waivers in your league and most leagues he is. He's on my rosters in deeper leagues. But I'll tell you this.
Starting point is 00:46:33 They played Denver. They were never getting anything going in the passing game. But Iowa Manor, 78% Snapshare, seven targets. Now against Denver, he was never going to do anything. Cam Ward was never going to do anything in that game on the road at Denver. But obviously, schedule is not going to be Denver every week. Iow Manor's the number two. They're going to trail a lot.
Starting point is 00:46:50 They're going to pass the ball. We saw that connection in the preseason, and that means something. Cam Ward was throwing the ball to his young receiver. I think there's going to be a high target volume. There's going to be a great floor. I don't think it's a superstar, but it's a guy. Yeah, as early as this week, get them on waivers if you were stuck for a depth spot on your roster. 48.5% air yard share, a ton of unrealized air yards for Elylech-A-Manner.
Starting point is 00:47:14 We talked about him in our preseason waiver wire show. Make sure you're tuning into that right here on Fantasy Points YouTube, Joe Dolan, Tom Brawley, and I every single week. Make sure you're tuning in for School of Scott.
