It's time for the Fantasy Points podcast brought to you by FantasyPoint.com.
Top level fantasy football and NFL betting analysis from every perspective and angle,
from numbers to the film room, with a single goal to help you score more fantasy points.
Waiverwire podcast here at FantasyPoint.com. My name is Joe Dolan.
Tom Broley's with me. He is the kind of like the foundation builder of the WaverWire article.
the single most comprehensive waiver wire article in the industry.
I will guarantee you that.
There are going to be names here.
You're like, well, there's no way this guy's available in my league.
Well, trust me, we have names on this article who are available in your league.
We won't talk about all of them on this podcast.
But that's what a subscription to fantasy points.com is for with the waiver wire article.
Use code Broly 22, by the way, get an extra 10% off when you subscribe to fantasypoints.com
so you can see the full waiver wire article.
T-Bro, what's going on, man?
Obviously, week two is a,
we did certainly have a lot of names that you had to, like,
either add to the list or tweak,
but I know week one is hard for you because,
as you mentioned last week on the podcast,
this is kind of a living, breathing document,
and you build the foundation in week one,
and then you just kind of update it throughout the season.
Week one, doing the waiver wire during those games
is probably just a massive undertaking.
Week two, probably just a little tiny bit easier,
because you already have that foundation built,
but you do have to react to kind of the news and the trends.
And however, which way the wind blows in the NFL?
Yeah, I don't know if this is too robust of a waiver wire.
I don't know if there's really many game changers out there.
But there were, you know, this was a,
there were some, a few big injuries this week that, you may have set you back.
Obviously, Trey Lance was the big one at quarterback.
He'll be out for the rest of the season, wishing him well.
that was a nasty looking ankle injury that he suffered.
Running back wasn't too bad.
I mean, that's usually the spot where, you know, we can,
that's why it's not as a robust waiver as we're usually seeing.
There wasn't that major injury, so we're glad about that.
We don't want to see injuries at the running back position.
So only one that were really keeping an eye on is James Connor.
He kind of left early in that game with an ankle issue.
They were getting blown out at that.
point and he never left the sideline, got taped up, so he might not even be looking at that
absence, but we'll still get into that backfield a little bit. Receiver, we got Mike Evans,
suspended for a game. Jerry Judy picked up a rib or shoulder injury or whatever is going on
there. He could be looking at some missed time, and then at tight end, people might be looking for
replaced for Dalton Schultz who suffered a PCL injury. Our Edwin Porras was just,
put a tweet out not too long ago this morning that the PCL injury could be looking at
maybe a two to three game absence.
Jerry Jones is out there saying he's only going to miss a week.
So Mr.
optimistic all of a sudden, Jerry Jones isn't bad for any of his players,
but he could be looking at two to three weeks.
So there are certainly some guys that need to be replaced.
And we'll see if we can find some gems on the waiver wire here this week.
Let's talk first and foremost,
like what our waiver wire kind of, uh, threshold is. Tom, you really only write up blurbs for guys
who are rostered in fewer than 50% of Yahoo Leaks. So, you know, guys like, yeah, if Tua's out there,
go pick him up, you know? Yeah, that's a no-brienter at this point. Yeah, like, but he's 61% of Yahoo!
So there's a chance he's available in your league, but a pretty good chance, but not, not somebody
who's like a super kind of waiver wire guy. Hey, Tom, uh, how do you feel about like, let's just
just say, look, I drafted
Tray Lance in a couple of spots, and
the reason I did was because I liked his upside,
and I know a quarterback's easy to replace
on the waiver wire. How do you
feel about like Jimmy Garoppolo in that case?
Because, I mean, Jimmy Garoppelow is almost
certainly available in your league. Yeah, he's
3% owned on Yahoo. I'm surprised it was that
high, but,
yeah, you're right. We were drafting
Trey Lance for that rushing upside.
Didn't really get the chance to see that all
pay out this year. But
But Garoppolo, he kind of established himself as like, you know, a mid-QB2 last year.
You know, he's prone to being quiet some weeks if the 49ers, you know, aren't going to be pushed at all if they can dominate teams with their running game.
But, you know, he's got a good matchup this week against Denver.
They have a matchup against the Rams, you know, set for week four.
So at least the next two weeks, they could be pushed into some passing scripts.
We should be getting George Kittle back, hopefully this week.
Nothing is guaranteed with George Kittle, but from everything, it kind of seemed like it was going to be a two-week injury when it happened before week one.
So, you know, he's been getting closer to resuming play.
So we know he's got big-time receivers here with Brandon Iuk and Devo Samuel.
So he can certainly put up some numbers.
just don't expect the 300-yard passing games.
Those aren't going to come too often,
but this is going to be one of the better offenses
so he could certainly throw for his fair share.
He's going to have plenty of multi-touchdown type of performances
in this offense.
And maybe the running game isn't going to be quite as effective
as it has been in the past with no Laja Mitchell.
Jeff Wilson did fine in the role last week,
but there's a reason why he was a reason why he was
a little farther down the depth chart.
And this isn't quite the same offensive line either.
So I wouldn't be surprised if they have to throw it a little bit more.
And they certainly have the weapons to exploit defenses with the receivers that they have.
Do you, any other quarterbacks that really interest to you?
I know Marcus Mariotta.
Yeah, he's got a great matchup this week.
He's got the Seahawks.
Yeah, he came back to Earth a little bit.
All he ran for 16 yards in that game.
but the one development is that Drake London looks like he could be a stud at receiver.
Had a big game and has come back to Los Angeles.
He's a former USC guy.
So, you know, we're still waiting on Kyle Pitts.
I mean, we didn't really push him much as a third round pick on the site.
But I know a lot of people out there on Twitter and in the fantasy football universe
are freaking the hell out about Kyle Pitts.
As they should.
So this is a good matchup this week.
They should be able to exploit the Seahawks defense a little bit.
And it should be a back and forth game here, hopefully.
Maybe Seattle will be actually to move the ball some.
So, you know, he's a good little streamer here.
He's only 11% owned.
And, you know, maybe Jared Gough as well.
That offense has been putting up some production.
Almond Ross, St. Brown, is.
you know, a wide receiver one at this point. I mean, I don't know what else we have to see.
There was people out there in the universe that were apparently sitting him last week.
Oh, Tom, I talked about it on the daily lineup today. Some guy was in my mentions and he's like,
oh, yo, I had to get Daryl Henderson in there. No, no, you didn't. What are you thinking?
No, I mean, what are you doing? I mean, he just set an NFL record with eight catches in a touchdown
in six straight games. I mean, eight straight games and it top.
Well, no, no, with a touchdown, too.
Oh, with the touchdown.
Oh.
He does have eight games with eight receptions and, like, he's scored in seven of those games.
So, just an absolute ridiculous run.
You want to have a quarterback associated with him.
Jared Goff is coming off a four touchdown performance.
Minnesota, you know, it was a dud last night.
But I would expect some offensive fireworks in that game.
It's going to be probably one of the higher totals on the board.
So, you know, if you're real desperate looking at.
quarterback and maybe some stashes too. Kenny Pickett. The Steelers play in week three here on
Thursday night. Trevisky has been god-awful, averaging five yards an attempt. If he has another
dud on Thursday night, I think it could be picket time starting in week four since they have
10 days to get ready for the Jets. And on the Jets side, I mean, maybe we see Zach Wilson in that
week four game. So a couple of guys that you can potentially stack both, both, both,
quarterbacks are obviously young and a bit unproven at this point, but they do have pretty good receiving courses, you know, to potentially put up some numbers.
Okay, let's move on to the running back position, Tom. And look, I know there was a lot of folks who picked up Tyrion Davis Price last week.
If Jeff Wilson wasn't available, well, TDP, he's got an ankle injury. He's got a high ankle. He's going to miss a couple of games.
So maybe Jordan Mason is out there for you if you want to get a piece of that 49rd backfield.
But very clearly, Jeff Wilson is the guy.
right now. And I mean, if you're listening to this and Jeff Wilson's not picked up in your league,
you're not in a very competitive league, quite frankly. A couple of situations to monitor Tom.
First and foremost, Rahim Mostert was the, well, he was the, he was the Dolphins lead back,
but it didn't really result in a whole lot because to a through for like 9,000 yards in that game,
he's available in about half of leagues. And the other situation in monitor Tom is the,
is the James Connor injury. What do you, uh, how?
do you break down these two situations?
Yeah, the most, I mean, he certainly should be added.
It's at the very least, it's a two-man backfield with him and Edmonds.
It seemed like they were trying to give Edmonds, you know, the lead back spot out of week one.
Didn't go very well.
And it was like they had a change of heart.
They kind of moved him right into his rule that he had with the Cardinals, you know, kind of mixing in as a runner as well.
but mostly in passing situations.
And that was kind of how the backfield played out with Mostert in week two.
You know, it's not a great spot.
They got the bills this week.
So maybe not a whole lot of production.
But definitely you want a piece of this backfield.
He's been able to stay healthy for two weeks.
That's a positive for Horeen Mostard.
And whenever he's been on the field, he's been capable of having some explosive plays.
So I could see this backfield going back and forth between these two guys.
kind of all season. But at the very least, we've seen the dolphins have some potential to put up
some points. And, you know, that could eventually lead to some goal line opportunities.
And maybe we'll see most of kind of be the guy in those situations. And Arizona, you know,
we'll see how it plays out. James Connor did have an ankle injury last year, which caused him to
miss two games. He's had had ankle issues, you know, kind of throughout his career. So something
to keep an eye on. It seemed like he was kind of ready to come back.
into that game on Sunday, but the nature of it, they were playing from well behind, and it seemed
like Cliff just kind of said, you know, sit this one out. You know, we'll get you back soon.
So, but at the very least, maybe it's time to pick up his, someone to handcuff here. And it kind of
looked like Eno Benjamin was the guy coming out of week one. He was the only one that really
worked behind James Connor. Darrell Williams didn't get a snap. But as soon as, uh,
James Connor went out of the lineup.
It was like, you know, Benjamin stayed in his exact same role.
Exactly.
Yep.
Yeah, as the change of pace guy, you know, working in some passing situations.
But Darrell kind of took over as the runner, kind of as the lead back.
He got the goal line carry for a touchdown as well.
And that's kind of my tiebreaker in this situation.
If I'm looking just for a strict handcuff of James Connor, it looks like Darrell Williams
is kind of guy.
At the very least, we saw he's going to probably get the goal line work between these two backs moving forward.
So at the very least, that's kind of a little tiebreaker for me.
So if I'm strictly handcuffing right now for Connor, I would lean towards Darrell Williams.
But, you know, I wouldn't be surprised if Eno gets more opportunities next to Darrell Williams compared to James Connor.
So both guys are certainly viable and they're both under 10% owned on the office weeks.
Let me just throw this out there just really quickly.
I don't even know how much analysis it needs.
The single most under-rastered player in fantasy football is Jerich McKinnon.
How is he rostered in only 6% of Yahoo Leagues?
That is ridiculous.
Yeah, he's essentially, he's got, he's like the co-lead back in that backfield right now.
I mean, Clyde has put up kind of the numbers, but he had 118 yards to 16 yards compared to
McKinnon last week, but McKinnon was in near the goal line, scored the touchdown,
you know, scored on a touchdown throw from, you know, that little sidearm through that Mahomes
threw to him from nine yards out. So he's been rotating a lot, Isaiah Pacheco, you know,
he's not really in the mix. He got like one series in that game, got a couple carries, but it's
been pretty split. I mean, the thing is, you know, Clyde has played pretty well up to this point.
I could see maybe they start putting a little bit more on his plate and taking a little bit off of McKinnon.
But we're still getting a piece of this Kansas City Chiefs backfield.
And, you know, he's played fairly well dating back to the last couple of games of the regular season last year.
So he was great in the playoffs as kind of the receiving back.
So 6% owned on Yahoo.
Certainly, if you're playing in like a 14 or a 16 team league, he's a guy that should be owned.
all of those type of formats at this point.
Yeah. Anything at wide receiver, Tom, that's really standing out to you.
I mean, I would guess, I think the top of the Waver Wire this week has to be Garrett Wilson.
I mean, 20% rostered in Yahoo.
John Dodson somehow only 42% rostered even after last week.
That was weird.
He scored two.
I saw Devin Duverne, go from basically not owned at all last week.
Scores two touchdowns in week one, and he's up over, you know, 65 to 70%.
owned and then Jehan Dotson scores two touchdowns and his ownership didn't even budge.
I mean, I guess people thought it was kind of a mirage, I guess.
I don't know.
So he comes out, does it again, scores 18 plus fantasy points or 17.9.
So he's been, you know, hover, you know, he's been great and he's been playing as a full-time
player next to Terry McLaurin to open the year.
You know, I am a bit worried at some point that Carson Wentz, like, totally sabotages this receiving core at some point.
We do have a lot of mouths to feed all of a sudden, but, I mean, sometimes talent just wins out, and Dotson is looking like a potential stud here.
We've been very high on them on the site.
I know a lot of people who are probably listening to this, probably already have him owned, so we probably don't need to spend too much time on them.
but he's clearly established himself as the number two receiver behind Tara McCorn.
But Garrett Wilson's, this is going to be an interesting one because he's still kind of behind, you know, he's behind Corey Davis in terms of playing time in times of, you know, whenever there have two wide receivers out in the field, it's Eli Moore and Corey Davis.
But Garrett Wilson, I would think after his performance in the, you know, even dating back to week one as well.
He came out and made a little bit of noise in that game.
This guy needs to be on the field.
So it's probably only a matter of time before he takes over Corey Davis's spot as the number two receiver.
You know, he made plenty of big plays.
He's the number 10 overall pick from last, you know, last spring's draft.
So he's already showing that he might be the complete package at receiver here.
So he's out there and he might be.
I mean, he's pretty, pretty, he's only 20% owned, as he said.
It's, it's going to be tough.
It's the Jets offense.
You got Joe Flacco and Zach Wilson throwing to you.
So this passing game isn't going to go off every week,
but maybe he's just a special player that, you know, can start to dominate targets here
and at the detriment of Elijah Moore.
So certainly, God, it needs to be picked up.
and his ownership will probably skyrocket here this week.
Any interest in the Dallas guys talk that Michael Gallup might near return?
Of course, there's Jerry Jones who's like, oh, oh, Gallup.
I mean, he could have been playing, and he could have played in February if they were playing.
Like, I mean, that's how he talks.
And then Noah Brown, Tom, I posted this in our staff discord,
but Jerry Jones was apparently calling Noah Brown Wilson all throughout, all throughout,
his radio hit this week. So if you have any interest in picking up Gallup or Wilson this week?
Well, it depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for a one-week player,
I think we're going to go Wilson, aka Noah Brown. He's got that second team swag going with
Cooper Rush, came out and had the 95 receiving yards and 91 receiving yards and scored the touchdown,
him caught all five of his targets.
So he kind of established himself as the number two receiver.
And, you know, as we touched on at the top, that Dalton Schultz might not be ready to play in this game.
So it is a Monday night.
We'll see, you know, just how kind of all plays out.
But I think Brown is certainly a guy you can plug and play this week.
Now, Gallup, I would not want to play him this week, even if we get early confirmation.
on Friday or Saturday that he could be ready to play.
I kind of, you know, with these guys coming back from major injuries,
hasn't, you know, seen any game action, you know, no action really in the preseason.
I'd rather see him build up his snaps, build up his kind of his targets in this offense.
But he's certainly the guy, if you're just trying to build your roster,
just dash good players on your bench.
he's the guy that should be picked up.
He should probably be one of the primary targets overall on this week's waiver wire behind, you know, the Dotson.
Behind the Garrett Wilson's, behind the Dotsons, behind the Jacoby Myers if he's still out there.
So, you know, they're searching for help at receiver right now in Dallas.
So, you know, Gallup, it could be a little slow going here for a couple of weeks, but if you have a long-term vision for your team, he's a guy that you might want to be looking at.
there's a couple of tight ends Tom who I think are they're rostered in a very low percentage of Yahoo Leagues who are who are potentially weekly starters like if you're out there and you have Cole Komet and I mean oh I don't think that that bears Justin Fields might really stick they obviously don't trust him um they so we look at like you've got like a Cole Komet a guy who's just not coming through for you a couple of guys out there Tom Logan Thomas and Tyler Conklin I think are are very appealing option.
that are almost certainly out there on your waiver wire.
Yes, Thomas, you know, is kind of a surprise that he was ready to go so, you know, early in the season.
But he's played well.
His snapshot went from 62% in week one to 73%.
His routes, his routes run, you know, his share on that went from 56 to 60% in week, from week one to week two.
So we're seeing gradual improvement in those areas, which is to be expected as a guy gets.
more and more reps off a major knee injury.
So he's getting, you know, I don't know if he'll be full-time, full-time like we used to see
before the injury.
It seems like this John Bates and, you know, those types guys might not completely go away,
but he's going to be close to a full-time player.
And we've seen Carson Went's target.
His tight ends plenty.
Scored a touchdown this week on five targets.
As we said, you know, Wendt.
the Washington passing game, you know, some of these guys are going to be prone to a couple of
duds, you know, because we got McLaurin, we got Curtis Samuel, we got Jehan Dodson, we got Logan Thomas,
we got J.D. McKissick, all guys that are, you know, you know, angling for targets in this passing
game. So he's going to be probably prone to some duds here and there, but certainly a high-level
player who's, you know, playing with a quarterback who likes to target his tight ends. And Conklin,
This is, it was, it wasn't pretty this week, but he did get the six catches, 40 receiving yards.
Has really just been a checkdown guy for Joe Flacco, but we're probably, C.J. Usoma didn't play this week. He had a hamstring injury, but I don't know if he picked that up in the middle of week one or not, but Conklin has just dominated the, you know, the snaps and the routes in this offense so far.
seeing a pretty healthy target share.
So certainly viable.
He's available everywhere.
Just 2% owned at this point.
Definitely probably more of a PPR guy, though.
He's not, you know, he's averaging, it's not great.
Whatever he's averaging, I think he had 4 for 14 in week one.
He had 6 for 40.
So he's well under 10 yards of reception at this point.
We're not expecting the Jets to score a whole lot of points.
So he's definitely more of a PPR pickup at this point.
T-Bro, I mean, this is kind of what the WaverWire is this week.
A couple of, I would think the hammer is probably Garrett Wilson, but like you mentioned,
you know, there are a lot of mouths to feed there.
Dotson, a lot of mouths to feed there.
There's not really that guy who's out there who's going to be like, I don't think,
who's going to be that kind of league winner.
But, you know, sometimes you need to be, you need a weak winner, Tom.
And that's what, and winning this week, if you're maybe you're Owen, too, and you got
to get a win. Winning this week could be the difference between making the playoffs and not.
So again, no real league winners out there. I don't think this is a big fab week.
But these are kind of the weeks when your roster construction becomes really important.
Yeah, and you want to just keep building your, you know, just want to keep improving it.
You know, go for those higher upside plays.
You know, a guy, you know, like Michael Gallup, as we said, who could continue to build.
You know, this is maybe the time you, there's not that one guy that you need, but, you know,
you get the guys that might have a long-term upside,
continue to build your roster.
And there's certainly those type of guys out there this week.
So, you know, you want to be active every week.
So this, let's go out there, read the article.
We got plenty of names on there.
Maybe, you know, KJ. Hamler, if you're going way deep,
if Jerry Judy isn't going to play,
he should be back in the lineup this week.
There's a number of different guys that could potentially help you long-term games.
Well, Tom, that'll do it.
