Helping you navigate through this thing of ours, guys. And we're going to start out with a really somber moment. I had to cover this on the recap show I recorded last night. Joe, I'm sure you talked about this at length this morning.
Starting point is 00:01:04 It's Malik Neighbors, done for the year. Torn ACL confirmed. Adam Schaefter dropped the post on X like about 10 minutes before we started recording this show. So it is a confirmed end of season injury. Really a emotional roller coaster for Giants fans, emotional rollercoaster for fantasy football managers. And now we have to take a look forward because the Giants won a huge game at home against the Chargers. There is hope and optimism with Jackson Dart a quarterback. But how do we adjust for fantasy football now with the offensive focal point,
Starting point is 00:01:36 Malik Neighbors, done for the season? Tom, Jackson Dart loses his top option, but we saw the rushing ability on display yesterday. And that was just game one for Dart. Are we going to see a lot more manufactured rushing attempts for Dart? Are we going to see him unlock his fantasy ceiling with his legs more now that Neighbors is out? Yeah, I mean, it's going to have to be through the ground game here with Jackson Dart. With Cam Scadaboo, we saw another large rule for him with Tyrone Tracy out. So I think this offense kind of has to shift gears a little bit.
Starting point is 00:02:12 And it kind of leans into the strength of this team, you know, this defensive line is a real strength. So they're going to have to try to shorten games a little bit. They don't have that dynamic player like Malik neighbors for the rest of the season here. And hopefully it isn't too much of a long-term injury. But, yeah, we saw it last in week four here. A lot of carries, 10 carries for Jackson Dart in his pro debut. do worry about them holding up a little bit, but this is what the offense is going to look like.
Starting point is 00:02:43 They're going to let Cam Scataboo pound the rock, Jackson Dart, design runs, let him scramble. They have to be a little bit more creative moving forward with this offense right now. High end QB2, Joe. Yeah, here's a quote that concerns me, though. This is Brian Daibel in his post-game press conferences. I know six, that being Jackson Dart's number, is probably going to be sore. He gutted it out. Son's a tough son of a you know what.
Starting point is 00:03:10 He's tough. I knew that. We're saying that after his first start. And according to Mike Sando, who covers the NFL for the athletic, he said he's using a metric called E2H exposed to hits for a quarterback. And what it means is Sacks quarterback hit scrambles and designed runs is a play on which a quarterback is exposed to a hit. Jackson Darden is first start. had the second highest percentage of being exposed to hits for a giant quarterback since 2000.
Starting point is 00:03:42 So now with no Malik neighbors, I'm concerned about Jackson Dart's health. Maybe ride the train while you can, but this is such a huge blow to his development. We already knew he was a lunatic as a runner, but now he's going to be more of a lunatic on the ground. Look, for fantasy, we like that for his long-term health and his mental development.
Starting point is 00:04:02 I really don't like the Malik neighbors injury at all for Jackson Dart. Yeah, it's, I mean, losing your top option, it's not great at all. There's like not a great silver lining, but rushing production from the quarterback position gives us a baked in fantasy floor. We talked about it last week when we covered Jackson Dart. Daniel Jones had over 700 rushing yards under Dable in 2022. And that team becomes a little bit similar to this one. They had Seekwon at running back. Camp Scadaoo is certainly not Seekwon, but he's going to get all the volume he can handle.
Starting point is 00:04:33 And you're going to see way more rushing attempts. So we sort of seen this story before. Another story we saw last year, Joe, was there was a about a three week period, excuse me, four week period where Darius Slayton looked like a great waiver wire ad. It was sort of like a handcuff to neighbors. Neighbors missed some time last year as well. And we had that crazy week five for Slayton where he had 11 targets, eight catches, 122 receiving yards, scored 26 points.
Starting point is 00:05:02 And then in week six and week eight, he gave him. us about 12 ppr points and about 15 ppr points. So three very usable weeks from Slayton. Slayton, they extended this past off season. And according to fantasy points data, heading into week four, Slayton had averaged a 90.2 snap share. So he's on the field literally for every single offensive snap. Are you interested in adding him on the waiver wire as a way, way downgraded, but at least a guy who plays all the time, wide receiver option, who's familiar with the Dable system. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:05:37 And let's just say like Jackson Dart, I talked about how concerned I am about his health already, but let's just say he's good or just average. And he's going to target somebody in the passing game on the perimeter. Wondale Robinson is a certain type of guy. We know that. That Dallas game was a complete fluke for both he and Russell Wilson. But on the perimeter, Jackson Dart is going to need to throw to somebody.
Starting point is 00:06:01 And I don't see who it is. it's not Darius Slayton. So I'm absolutely interested in adding him. And he's going to, he actually might end up being more consistent than a Trey Tucker, who I think we picked up as like a guy who can make a couple of splash plays. But I would anticipate that Darius Slateon is going to be in the six, seven, eight target per game type of, type of usage going forward. Yeah, he's the type of player. He gets some downfield targets as well, Joe. You know, he was around 13 yards for his A dot last year. We've seen Jackson Dart just a little bit here, but going back to his old missed days, he likes to throw the ball down field. They like to get it vertical.
Starting point is 00:06:39 So I think it's going to work out in his favor. Lake neighbors, you know, first three games, basically averaging up over 10 targets per game. So I don't know if they're going to be as pass heavy moving forward, but still, we're probably going to be, you know, distributing eight to 10 targets per game in this passing game has to go somewhere else. I would think that Dary Slayton is option number one, but maybe Theo Johnson at the tight end position could be another option here to see a little bit increased workload. Got a short cheapy goal line target with a little shovel pass for the touchdown. But he's been playing a lot.
Starting point is 00:07:20 We saw him get off to a little bit of a slow start during his rookie season, and things started to pick up for him about mid-season. So we could see him take on an increased role in this. this passing game as well. Yeah, Theo Johnson's is a priority pickup, especially in tight end premium leagues, but even in leagues that are not, as many, as much as I agree with you guys on the Slayton increased usage, sometimes we see where it's a young quarterback and the tight end just becomes his best friend. Theo Johnson has the prerequisite of incredible athleticism, one of the highest RAS scores ever recorded. And last year, there was a period of time. I know,
Starting point is 00:07:57 Tom, you wrote about him in your waiver column. I wrote about. him in my waiver column where we were covering him last year, he went down with an injury right as we saw like the usage sort of increasing and the positivity surrounding him where I think Johnson could be sort of an under the radar pickup per Ryan Heath. And if you're not following Ryan Heath, you're doing yourself with this service. Ryan Heath, Ryan Heath, Ryan Jay Heath on X drops this incredible fantasy points data thread every single Sunday evening. And this is this great stat. In the 36 minutes after Malik neighbors went down with the injury, Theo Johnson had a 30.8% target share with Dart. Small sample size, but this could end up being a thing. Theo Johnson, I think,
Starting point is 00:08:43 could end up being a high-end, tight end too, in this offense. Again, hyper athletic. They're going to need consistent targets. And like Slayton, Theo Johnson probably won't leave the field. Wondale's probably a 75% target route excuse me snap sky moving forward whereas slayton and johnson should be on the field the entire time so lots unpacked there sorry if you lost malik neighbors but that's why you're watching the waiver wire show here we've got you cover we're going to keep grinding through this thing we're going to take a quick break we come back we have to talk about a ton of running backs including a running back whose production could explode with a rumored trade going on right now all right welcome back Fantasy Football Daily, Theo Greminger with Tom Brawley and Joe Dolan.
Starting point is 00:09:26 If you want to level your game up, consider a subscription to fantasy points. Unbelievable amount of information you get each and every week from our projections, from our rankings, from our articles, and fantasy points data as well. Incredible stuff. Starting point is 00:09:53 time for any package. Let's talk about the running back position. And guys, like most, we usually touch base sort of Sunday evenings about the guys we're going to talk about on the Waver Wire show. And usually there's like four running backs. This week there's like 10. Let's start off with, we're going to save Kenneth Gainwell. Let's talk about, and we'll save Woody Marks. Let's talk about Kendra Miller. Kendry Miller had 11 touches, 65 yards, and a touchdown. And the touchdown looked really, really good. The Saints are heading absolutely nowhere. Kendra Miller looks good. It would make sense. I think if the three of us were running the Saints, we'd say, you know, guys, Alvin Kamara, he's had an amazing run here. He's an all-time saint. But let's trade him to a
Starting point is 00:10:36 contender. Let's get him an NFL playoffs this year. And let's get ourselves a draft pick. We don't want to make the same mistake the Tennessee did with Derek Henry. Do you think this is a possibility, Joe, that you're going to see Alvin Kamara traded opening up Kendra Miller to like a high-end RB3 role for the rest of the season. I don't know if my question is who would trade for him at this point, right? Kansas City Chiefs. He has a contract, you know, that's the biggest concern. Yeah, like Kansas City, you saw they're trying, they're really struggling.
Starting point is 00:11:07 They actually got Breschard Smith a little bit more involved in the offense. But Kansas City, maybe, but nonetheless, even if Kansas City doesn't trade for him or no trades for him, has Kendry Miller earned a little bit more work? Now, if that's the case, you're probably not going to be very pleased with picking him up off the waiver wire because it's a bad football team that's going to have a running back rotation. But in terms of speculative ads, like a lot of the names we talk about here on this show and have talked about those, if you're listening to this podcast, you're probably in a league where those guys are rostered already. Kendrae Miller, one of the things about him, he was in the doghouse for Dennis, for Dennis Allen. He does not appear to be in the dog house for Callan Moore. and the fact that he was able to stay healthy throughout the offseason program has helped him.
Starting point is 00:11:52 So there is new life for a player who did absolutely nothing in his first two years in the league. Yeah, 23 years old. He was a third round pick. Kendrae Miller, I think you nailed it. It's a contingent upside play. You can't expect to get this level of touches each and every week. But I'll say that we'll put at least a small percentage that they do move on from Kamara. And I think Miller would also, they haven't really been targeting the running back position,
Starting point is 00:12:16 but the targets would go to Miller as well. So it could be a sort of like a full-time, two-way ability, full-time role in a bad offense for a player with a little bit of juice to them. And like you said, I think this coaching staff, a fresh start. Tom Brawley, we'll pitch it over to you for this one. This is definitely a not in my league bro type situation.
Starting point is 00:12:36 But if Woody Marks is available, I mean, how excited, first of all, how excited should you be if you have Woody Marks on your roster? And Woody Marks, we saw a lot yesterday, the two touchdown performance. What impressed me the most was they gave him 17 carries, which I didn't really have on my Woody Mark's bingo card to see him get that level of touches.
Starting point is 00:12:56 We all knew he'd catch a ton of passes, but it was sort of the would he be a 12 carry guy and then do his damage as a receiver? Looks like the Texans view him as a little bit more than that. We talked about him last week as a priority ad. Last week he had 49% of snaps, and this week he's up to like 58 plus percent. and Houston wins.
Starting point is 00:13:16 Your thoughts on Marks. Yeah, I mean, this is a guy that needs to be owned everywhere. They're telling us that they're grooming him for a much, you know, much bigger role here as the season moves along. And we've seen it through the first four weeks. Damien Pierce was active. It was like a four-man backfield in week one. They took him out.
Starting point is 00:13:35 He's been a healthy scratch. Dari Aguble Wallite was getting snaps those first two weeks. They've taken all those snaps away except for one over the last two weeks. So we've gone to a two-man backfield. And even last week, Domeco Ryan said, well, we're going to evaluate this backfield, see who's playing best, who deserves the ball. And what did they come out and do in week four?
Starting point is 00:13:56 It gave Woody Marks even more work. And his performance certainly says that he should continue to see a lot of work. And if we look at this backfield and look at this offense, it's struggling to run the ball a little bit. They're going to have to throw it probably a little bit more. and that plays into Woody Mark's hands. He was a very accomplished receiver coming out of USC. We've seen it a few times the Monday night game.
Starting point is 00:14:22 He had a nice long, like 30-some-yard reception where he made a player miss and got down the sideline. We saw him working in the passing game as well in week four here. So I think he's going to get that passing game work. And he's looked better in the running game than I think people thought he would. then we're going to see potential. I don't know if he's going to ice Nick Chubb completely here, but I wouldn't be surprised if we start to see a 60, 40 type of split in this backfield.
Starting point is 00:14:52 So I don't think this is going to be one of the more valuable backfields to have pieces of, but having a guy that's getting 60% of the snaps and has the potential to get 15 to 20 touches per week is somebody that we won on our roster and certainly has potential to be an RB2 here for us the rest of the season. Yeah, my main takeaway with Woody Marks is people should listen to us like three weeks ago, four weeks ago. We were telling to add what he marks before. No brain or add another player we were telling you to add. And this was one where it was not fun to discuss. But Joe, we talked about in like week one Kenneth Gainwell about how he had the fumble,
Starting point is 00:15:30 but he was running ahead of Warren and just sort of don't discount him on this team as like a depth piece. Well, Kenneth Gainwell gets his opportunity and has sort of the out of nowhere. running back near running back one overall type weekly finish that we've seen in several years. We've seen this before. And we don't want to get head over heels here because we've seen like the Dion Jackson RB1 overall week a couple of years ago, the Sean Tucker RB1 overall week last season. And I think some fantasy managers just go nuts with it and overpay for the production. But Gainwell's interesting because he has had touches in every single week.
Starting point is 00:16:12 Caleb Johnson looks just horrible. The staff seems to like Kenneth Gainwell. This has been a constant in his career where we remember how much Nick Siriani liked him. He wanted him to start over D'Andre Swift. He was wearing the Kenneth Gainwell T-shirt. Gainwell kept Will Shipley back last year. Gainwell's always sort of been a thwart in the side of other running backs. Then the Steelers sign him.
Starting point is 00:16:34 We thought it was maybe for special teams purposes they signed them. But 19 carries, 99 rushing yards, two touchdowns. and he has six catches for 35 yards. My question to you is, should we, should fantasy managers be a little bit more interested in this because of Arthur Smith's history with taking sort of random running backs
Starting point is 00:16:54 and getting a ton of fantasy production, the Tyler Algear 1,000 yard season, the Cordarrel Patterson, RB1 overall year, RB1 season. I think I'm a little bit more interested in Gainwell than maybe some people who are brushing them off to the side. I think the thing that's going to be annoying about this is that I,
Starting point is 00:17:10 Kenny Gainwell and Jalen Warren, they're different players, but they're used in similar ways, right? They're both kind of smaller undersized. We were just talking a couple weeks ago about Jalen Warren finally becoming a bell cow because Caleb Johnson looks like he's carrying a trailer behind him, right? So the thing about Gainwell is I don't know if I'm going to feel very good about starting him if Jalen Warren is active, but we're getting to, we're in by weeks now, right? Sometimes you don't have that luxury.
Starting point is 00:17:42 You don't have the luxury to feel good about one of the guys that you're popping into your RB2 spot or in your flex spot. And maybe you get one of those random games from Gamewell like Tyler Algear had a couple of years ago when Arthur Smith was driving everybody nuts with Tyler Algear out carrying Vijon Robinson. Maybe that will happen. But you mentioned it. This guy has been a coach's pet since he came into the league. The Eagles force fed him the ball in 2023, which didn't work. and then in 2024 in an ancillary role, he was excellent as part of their Super Bowl run.
Starting point is 00:18:15 I don't think this is something that can happen every week for Kenny Gainwell, but he is somebody who we know is going to play. And if having somebody you know is going to play, even if they're not a quote unquote starter, can be useful in these by weeks because you're just like, you know what, I need somebody who I know is going to get 25, 30 snaps in a backfield. I just need some points. And maybe Kenny Gainwell finds his way into the end zone.
Starting point is 00:18:38 This was an encouraging performance for Kenny Gainwell. And if I had Jalen Warren, by the way, I did. And I had a rough Saturday night. I had a rough Saturday night, okay, for reasons. Tom, Tom Brawley can attest to those. I was there. I was trying to, I was trying to sleep in a little bit. Yeah, thanks for that late and active Jailen Warren.
Starting point is 00:19:01 Yeah. Adam Schaefter, let us astray there telling us Saturday that he was going to, that Jaila Moore was going to play. I'll just add real quick, Joe. This backfield has been very valuable for fantasy so far. Aaron Rogers is not throwing the ball downfield. There's a lot of catches available to these backs. In the running game actually got on track a little bit,
Starting point is 00:19:21 and the Steelers made a little bit of a change. I don't know if it was scheme specific for that game, but Darnell Washington saw a career high 91% of the snaps, and the running game looked as good as it has in a long time here. in Pittsburgh. So just something to keep in mind here that maybe they have kind of figured something out here with the running game with getting Darnel Washington on the field a little bit more. Yeah, I think Gainwell, he needs to get added in every league. And then I will mention again with Warren, we thought he was going to play up until like Saturday night. So it was a little bit
Starting point is 00:19:58 like a late scratch here. Shout out to James Franklin for Joe taking the Warren L here. I blame the Penn State loss a little bit on that one, I'm sure. We're blaming James Franklin for a lot of things up here. I know, I know. You listen to listen to the college football playoff. You have a light at the end of the tunnel. And you have Ohio State right around the corner. So a chance it's sort of a big redemption for your nitty lines.
Starting point is 00:20:20 We're not going to get, we're not talking about. We're leaving it a little. But we will talk about Justice Hill. And we talked about in the preseason. I mean, I've sort of given up on why they want to make Keaton Mitchell inactive each and every week. It certainly doesn't seem like a harbawful. favorite. You'd think a one and three team would do a little self-scouting and say that there's this explosive guy, but I'm giving up on it. But the one player who played really well,
Starting point is 00:20:43 really well yesterday was Justice Hill. We see Lamar Jackson go down with a hamstring injury. We're going to keep an eye on that one. We are recording this one on Monday. We don't have a full story, whether that's something that could keep him out for a week, could keep him out for two weeks or keep him out, not no games at all. But with Justice Hill, he's been tremendous, over the last two years on screen passes. This is a from Jonas Schaefer, who's a Baltimore Ravens Follow, covers the Ravens, write some really good articles.
Starting point is 00:21:14 I don't know him, but I just like his Ravens info. Justice Hill on screen passes only since 2024. He has 21 catches for 174 yards and two touchdowns. Just tremendous in the screen game on those limited opportunities. Yesterday we see Justice Hill with three carries, for 76 yards and a touchdown. So fluke. He busted off a big one and he scored,
Starting point is 00:21:39 but he did have five receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown. We saw this at times last year where the game, when the game flow dictated, Justice Hill would get more opportunities in the passing game. And it didn't really, it was incredibly difficult to predict because the Ravens had so many games where they were up so much that we couldn't predict the Justice Hill weeks. This year, the Ravens defense is really,
Starting point is 00:22:04 struggling. Now you've got Derek Henry dealing with fumbles. Could we see increased opportunities for Justice Hill? And I'll give another Ryan Heath stat. In the snaps that Cooper Rush took over at quarterback, Justice Hill at an 18% target share. So if Lamar Jackson does miss, we have a little bit of a sample size of Cooper Rush targeting Hill as well. Your interest level, kick it to you, Tom. A little bit. I mean, we've seen this in the past here with Justice Hill. But it is, it doesn't feel a little bit different this season just because of how bad Baltimore's defense has been here. We did see it a little bit at the beginning of last season and then their defense started playing better. But if they're going to be playing these higher scoring games and Derek Henry is going to be
Starting point is 00:22:49 kind of stuck and not getting his typical like 20 carries per game, they're not just pounding teams into submission on offense. If they're going to have to be playing in these shootouts, then, yeah, Hill's going to have the potential here to get a couple of catches per game. We're entering by season here. So in PPRs, he could catch you. He's got three receptions in three straight games. So he's been involved. And then if it doesn't seem like this Lamar Jackson injury is very serious, but if he doesn't start, it could be a good thing for Justice Hill. If Cooper Rush, we know he doesn't like to really push the ball down field. He's going to he's going to throw in the underneath areas. And maybe that
Starting point is 00:23:34 means Justice Hill has a little bit bigger role in the passing game just this week against the Texans. So I have moderate appeal here for Justice Hill. Yeah. And if Lamar does miss, and again, we have no idea whether he does or not, Cooper Rush, you'd add him in Superflex formats, but it doesn't offer the anywhere near similar rushing ability. So it's a completely different offense. You'd actually see, I think, a lot more running back touches. So this would actually be one where, like Tom said, we would prioritize Hill a little bit more if Lamar missed. Joe, would you agree with that one? And sort of your level of interest for a Kenrey Miller versus a Justice Hill versus a Kenneth
Starting point is 00:24:17 Gainwell? I'd probably be most interested in Gainwell because of the role. Tom mentioned how valuable that backfield has been, then Miller, then Hill. It just feels like Hill is a guy you end up chasing points with. And I, you know, John Harbaugh, who's been around the block a couple of times, believe me, and our guy Thomas Tipple, Thomas, if you're editing this, I know he is a Harbaugh hater as a Ravens fan. He's going to do some self-scouting. I wouldn't be surprised for the next Ravens game to be a 20-40-carry Gary Henry game.
Starting point is 00:24:53 So just try to get back to get back to the basics of what they have. The Ravens do play. Let's see, who do they got? Houston. Houston. Oh, boy. So Houston can't score. So that's going to be a potential low scoring game, even if Lamar Jackson doesn't play.
Starting point is 00:25:09 Justice Hill is a bit player. Now, if Derek Henry were to be out, obviously he had a great run at the end of the he's a couple of years ago when the Ravens really needed him. But other than that, I feel like you're chasing points with Justice Hill. Yeah, for sure. I think the very least, if you're a Derek Henry manager, though, you know, the fact that Hill is out there and we've seen the production, and Derek Henry, again, an older running back.
Starting point is 00:25:36 If he misses some time later in the year, Hill is clearly head and shoulders above anywhere near my Keaton Mitchell enthusiasm in the beginning of the offseason and actually late off season when we did the preseason Waverwire show. Guys, let's talk about Breschard Smith. Joe, Richard Smith, this is a fun one because the chiefs are looking like a pass-centric offense. Xavier Worthy plays the full game.
Starting point is 00:26:05 Worthy was awesome. Worthy had eight targets, five catches, over 80 receiving yards, also had two carries for, I think, 38 rushing yards, led them in rushing yardage and led them in receiving yardage. And it seems like Xavier Worthy's presence sort of put everyone in their natural role, Hollywood Brown, Juju Smith-Schuster, Tyquan Thornton. And then we also saw increased usage from Richard Smith. Breschard Smith gets three catches for 27 yards,
Starting point is 00:26:35 which is his most appealing trait as a receiver. You also see Isaiah Pacheco with a receiving touchdown where you could sort of galaxy brain your way into thinking that in two weeks or so, that target is going to Breschard Smith. Smith also has four carries for nine yards. He's a player we liked when we were down in the senior bowl together. The three of us were down there with Brett Whitefield, had a big old crew from fantasy points, John Hanson,
Starting point is 00:27:01 Trey Camberling, and Breschard Smith was a massive standout down there. Do you think that this is just the shift where we're getting Rashi Rice back soon, we just got Xavier Worthy back, and they're going to become way more pass-centric, which is sort of a perfect storm for rookie running back who can actually catch passes
Starting point is 00:27:20 at a high rate like Smith? I was drafting him in best ball this offseason with the idea that he was going to grow into some sort of role. Now I didn't realize that they would have this much trouble because I actually, I was in on Pacheco a little bit as like a seventh round pick, you know, because I liked him last year. And then his season just never took off because of the injury.
Starting point is 00:27:41 But I was drafting Breschard Smith a lot in the 18th round as somebody who could maybe Jerich McKinnon his way into a role the way McKinnon, you know, McKinn had a great end of the year a couple years ago. I think he led all running backs in receiving yards. And he had a bunch of receiving touchdowns as well for, but it's really a stash guy at this point. because we saw Breschard Smith getting meaningful touches. And one thing I want to note, because we checked in on the serious XM fantasy football game day show,
Starting point is 00:28:08 we checked in with the Chiefs broadcast early in that game against the Ravens. And the Chiefs broadcasters noted that Breschard Smith was not on the kick return team. So they specifically took him off the kick return team with an eye toward getting him more involved in offense. That is probably a good sign. Right now, he's a stash in hope. If you have short benches, this is not a priority ad. right now, but if you have deep benches, it's possible, unlikely, but possible that we're talking about him similarly to how we talked about Woody Marks. The difference is he hasn't run the ball very
Starting point is 00:28:42 well, just like the Chiefs haven't run the ball well at all. So it is going to have to be like in a receiving heavy role for him to really take off. Yeah, we saw years ago the, we referenced Daniel Jones 2022. How about Jerich McKinnon around the same time period? We've seen this sort of back thrive in Kansas City. Even if it's a small percentage that it happens, he's exactly the kind of player we want to stash on our benches because receiving upside for running backs is awesome. And as a professional segue over to you, Tom, Xavier Scott, a very well-known college program, Maine Black Bears, gets his opportunity, eight targets, six receptions for 43 yards and scores a touchdown. Xavier Scott doesn't offer much in the rushing department, but he sure looked good
Starting point is 00:29:28 catching the football. Aaron Jones is out. He's going to miss several weeks. Jordan Mason, we saw him in week three when things were going his way looking really, really good. But they obviously don't have a whole lot of confidence in Mason as a pass catcher. Mason did catch three passes, but again, they were playing catch up. It seems like Xavier Scott has an interesting role here. When you factor in Aaron Jones, Artie's hurt, you factor in Aaron Jones being an older back. Are you interested, especially in deeper formats, in taking a dark throw on seeing where this Xavier Scott role goes? A little bit.
Starting point is 00:30:02 It's tough. Aaron Jones will be back. It's only about two more games here for Xavier Scott. Now, they do have a buy mixed in there as well. But they do, they're going against the Cleveland Browns in Philadelphia Eagles in that stretch. Two teams that really stop the run well. So maybe they're forced to throw it a little bit more in those matchups. So maybe that could get Xavier Scott on the field a little bit more.
Starting point is 00:30:27 That Eagles game, you would expect them to be trailing. I think that really helped his production in that game in week four is the, you know, the very negative game script they were playing from behind the entire second half. So led to a lot more passing. So maybe in that Eagles game as well, they could be in some negative game scripts to help him out. But he's going to get iced as soon as Aaron Jones comes back in week eight. Jordan Mason has that rushing kind of lockdown at this point.
Starting point is 00:30:56 So Zager Scott would be just like a one or two week fill in here. I don't know if there's much room for growth here. Unless this Aaron Jones, we've seen him struggle with injuries the last couple of years. If this hamstring injury kind of lingers into the middle of the season, the back end of the season, then yeah, in these deeper formats, Xavier Scott is just a stash right now. Very viable. Yeah, and I think if you rostered Jordan Mason, go ahead and add, Scott.
Starting point is 00:31:24 even if it's a short-term ad, you're investing in this backfield. And I want to see sort of what happens with Xavier Scott. I expect that he's going to be a heavy addition in like 20-man formats, like FFPC, NFFC this week, just for sort of the mystery box element that he's adding us. He looked good in that game. I will add that one more time. Joe, another player that we've sort of been waiting on, Jaden Blue. Now we see Miles Sanders go down with an injury.
Starting point is 00:31:49 I'm not sure the severity there, but are you interested in adding Jaden Blue, the speculative player who hasn't played at all, but we did like a couple of his traits. Like a couple of traits stand out. He's super fast and he can catch the ball. Interested in adding him or not. Dallas is going to give up a million points. I mean, like, they put up a good offensive performance against Green Bay, but that, of course, might mask once again how bad their defense is.
Starting point is 00:32:14 Yeah, like I would rather add him than Xavier Scott. Like, I would rather add him than some of these other players. I don't know if I'd rather add him than Breschart Smith. just because I think Prashart Smith might have a role in a past heavy Kansas City offense. But I think that is a you want to talk sight unseen ad. Yeah, I'm interested in that because they are going to have to score a million points this year to be even competitive. And some positive coach speak recently on Jaden Blue. They've been saying nice things about them, even though we haven't seen them.
Starting point is 00:32:45 I'll mention that Emmanuel Wilson, we saw Chris Brooks get worked in a couple weeks ago. but when the rubber met the road in a close game, Josh Jacobs, first of all, these sites really need to report knee injury a little bit differently because it was like a cut on his knee injury. I mean, give me a break. It was like a hyperventilating type moment for fantasy managers when you get that alert on your phone. But Emmanuel Wilson did have 11 touches in a very close game. Emmanuel Wilson is the handcuffed to roster there. We will mention also if he's available in your league somehow Tyler Al Jir is a high-end handcuff. The one player I want to get your opinion on and sort of the situation, Tom, Amari Di Mercado
Starting point is 00:33:29 in Arizona. Trey Benson, this has been sort of a back and forth between a couple of us at fantasy points where the usage I didn't think was as impressive as I expected with Benson, whereas Ryan Heath sort of pushed back on me with that one. Where are you at with Trey Benson game one? And are you interested in adding DeMercado who caught a touchdown pass in a key moment for the Cardinals on Thursday evening? Yeah, I am a little bit worried about Benson. It was a very heavily negative game script on that Thursday night game. They, you know, they were playing from behind for much of the game. And, you know, Benson, we were, because it kind of passed Amari Demarcato early in the season and was taking that passing game work.
Starting point is 00:34:13 And I thought he looked all right, but he was not very impressive in this game. I was struggling to make defenders miss in the open space as a receiver. So I am a little bit worried. And maybe they're looking at this is a younger back. Maybe we don't want to put 80 to 90% of the snaps on this guy. So I think we could see Demercado worked in a little bit more in passing situations moving forward. And we saw him, you know, he scored the touchdown. He's not going to get much, you know, ground game work at all.
Starting point is 00:34:44 I think that's all going to be Benson's moving forward. but I do feel like we might these thrown down situations, hurry up situations. I think we're going to see more and more demarcato as the weeks move on here. Yeah, tons and tons of running backs that we're discussing. If you want to read about even more running backs, make sure you're subscribed to fantasy points. Tom's going to cover more.
Starting point is 00:35:03 I'm going to cover more. But this is a very running back centric week. We've got to cover a couple more positions here, including a couple of interesting wide receivers on the waiver wire, including an undrafted free agent who might have a big opportunity moving forward right after this. All right, welcome back. We talked about it a little bit heading in.
Starting point is 00:35:21 Cedric Tillman is injured, a hamstring. We don't know the severity of it. Again, we didn't get all the injury reports. We're recording on Monday. But Joe, we know Harold Fanon is going to see an increased role, but he's rostered everywhere. Isaiah Bond, your interest level in adding Isaiah Bond on fantasy teams, if Cedric Tillman misses time.
Starting point is 00:35:42 A brief preface for Bond, we all anticipated he would be drafted on day two. That's where Brett Whitefield had him projected. Brett Whitefield had his second round grade on Isaiah Bond. Bond, of course, Alabama and Texas player had some huge moments. He had a game winning touchdown in an Iron Bowl, had some big moments for Texas as well. Off the field issues dropped him off a lot of teams boards. Cleveland signed him as a UDFA, but they gave him a bunch of money and they signed him to a multiple year contract. So it's not your your usual undrafted free agent. Quinn Sean Judkins already there.
Starting point is 00:36:16 We've seen Dylan Samson get touches earlier this year. Harold Fanon on the field all the time. It's a youth movement on the Brown's offense. Will we also see it with Isaiah Bond, Joe? Yeah, we'll see it. What's that going to mean for fantasy, though? Because Cedric Tillman was a player I drafted quite a bit of because we loved his metrics last year with Fantasy Points data.
Starting point is 00:36:36 And he's played well this year. but from a fantasy football perspective, it's really not much of anything. You know, he had, he had 10 catches heading into week number four. He had just one before he went out with the injury. He topped 10 fantasy points in each of the first two games, but because he scored a touchdown, Jerry Judy hasn't been able to get going at all. This passing offense just isn't very good. And at some point, the youth movement's going to continue by going to Dylan Gabriel
Starting point is 00:37:02 and or Shadur Sanders at quarterback. And then it's got an opportunity to really just completely turtle. I have, I would say minimal interest in Isaiah Bond right now. There you go. Minimal interest. Tom Brawley, we've seen multiple 49ers wide receivers now banged up. Christian McCaffrey's on pace to get like 130 receptions. He's like a wide receiver 8 right now.
Starting point is 00:37:24 It's actually insane how many targets and receptions. It's absolutely nuts. If McCaffrey holds up, this guy's going to be the RB1 and he's going to leap the entire field by a considerable amount. but somebody else has got to catch the football in San Francisco as well. George Kittle comes off the IR shortly, but now you have Purcell, you've got Jennings, both banged up. What's your interest level in guys like DeMarcus Robinson, Kendrick Bourne? How are you handling this San Francisco situation?
Starting point is 00:37:52 Yeah, it's very difficult. We got a short week for them. They play on Thursday night against the Rams. Piercell's been on the injury report for multiple weeks and aggravated that injury in week four. So I'd be really concerned that he is not going to. to play. Juan Jennings will see how that shoulder and the ankle are feeling.
Starting point is 00:38:11 He's been on and on. You know, he's missed a couple of games. He missed a lot of time in the summer as well. So there's a, there's a legit chance that they could be down their top two wide receivers. So I would prioritize Kendrick Bourne just because he's been in this offense a little bit longer. But there was very little chemistry.
Starting point is 00:38:30 I think he even said so after the game, talking about, you know, playing with Brock Purdy because even whenever Bourne came over was right around week one of the season, and Purdy gets hurt immediately, has the toe issue, misses some practice time the last couple of weeks. So they really haven't had a chance to get on the same page. But DeMarcus Robinson, this is another quick turnaround. He comes back from suspension. So those are going to be the top two guys here.
Starting point is 00:38:58 But maybe a tight end as well, Jake Tongis could be a streamer this week. We've seen Tyler Warren have a big game and Dallas Goddard scored a touchdown against the Rams. We could get like a one week streamer here before George Kittle gets back. We do have a couple, you know, big time tight ends on by with Tucker Kraft out of the lineup this week with Green Bay not playing. And Kyle Pitts has been a very usable tight end. So some people might be desperate and looking for some help. And maybe Jake Tongis as a one week kind of streamer, especially if Ricky Pearsall and Juan Jennings are out or somewhat limited in this game on Thursday night.
Starting point is 00:39:39 I can't believe you didn't bring up the DeMarcus Robinson revenge game narrow out there. Oh, that's true. So, yeah, it's a weird situation. And Tom, is it just me? Brock Purdy didn't really look ready. I'm like Brock Purdy did not look like his usual self. That's a tough one for San Francisco. I think that the one argument towards taking a dart throw and using a 49ers receiver is the Ram,
Starting point is 00:40:03 offense looks really, really good. The passing game there is just deadly. Pukunakua, of course, and we'll talk about Matthew Stafford shortly. But I think the game flow could dictate that a receiver could pop off. Again, you might pick the wrong one, but you might get sort of an out of nowhere 17-pointer from a guy like a Robinson. So it's an ugly, ugly weird situation. Sort of you hope that Joanne Jennings goes. But yeah, really, really weird one there. Joe, if, Romeo Dubs is available in your league. This is one where talk about his performance. It was out of nowhere a smash game.
Starting point is 00:40:41 But is this something that could sustain? And Dubs, of course, is not going to be a wide receiver one, but could be the number one targeting Green Bay and offer you a little bit more than maybe we anticipated early in the year coming out of him. This is one that's frustrating because I had the right read on this game. I mean, it wasn't hard to predict that the Packers would be able to throw the ball all over the field. but I had a plus odds bet on Matthew Golden to score a touchdown. And Romeo Dobbs got all three of them.
Starting point is 00:41:10 So I was a little frustrated about that. But no, I mean, Jaden Reed is probably going to miss most, if not all of the season. Romeo Dobbs is going to play primarily on the outside. I just think he's somebody who, depending on what the schematic matchup is, if it's an outside funnel, Reed Ryan Heath's advanced matchups, Colin, by the way. If it's an outside funnel, he's somebody you probably can,
Starting point is 00:41:33 hit her in a wide receiver three slot. If it's a slot funnel, it's probably going to be more of a Dantei on Wix game. But I still truly believe that the Matthew Golden breakout is coming here. And it just so happened that it was three short touchdowns for Romeo Dobbs. Chris Collins was talking about how quickly he was getting off the line of scrimmage. And that's something where Jordan Love is going to trust the receiver who's been in the room a little bit longer. But I'd still rather have golden. He's rostered in all these leagues. But if you're talking straight up, I'd rather have Golden than Dobbs, but certainly a good showing from Romeo Dobbs. Yeah, and Golden's, Golden's going to get there. We've all been sort of into Matthew
Starting point is 00:42:10 Golden. I know Graham Barfield very much into Matthew Golden. So we really believe that that is coming along. Tom, the two of us talked about this where this whole show could have been completely different if Adonai Mitchell would have just ran into the end zone with the football and not dropped it before he crossed the goal line. It was one of the best plays of the entire season. anybody who didn't see the play, it was a long downfield reception followed up by this insane spin move that caused two Rams,
Starting point is 00:42:40 defensive backs to run into one another. Then Adonai Mitchell from like kind of a slowdown accelerates just an unbelievable acceleration from him. And he speeds into the end zone. The announcer yells touchdown. And then they review it. Of course, he dropped before he goes in there. So Adam and Mitchell also had a holding penalty
Starting point is 00:43:01 on what would have been a Jonathan Taylor long touchdown run. Adonai Mitchell, though, the talent is there, the athleticism is there. I see that play, and there's Colts fans saying they want to cut him. I'm like, I want to get this guy to ball more. Where are you out on Adonai Mitchell? Is this one as a speculative addition, or does the lack of Alec Pierce just caused an opportunity, then the door is going to shut close because of the mental errors?
Starting point is 00:43:26 I think it is going to close shot here. I think Alec Pierce, hopefully, he's back this week, sat out last week because of a concussion. He does have a little bit of a history with concussions. He had a concussion last December. So hopefully this doesn't become a long-term thing. But I do think Pierce is going to come back and kind of ice him. And we're going to see Mitchell back in a reduced rule.
Starting point is 00:43:49 But Pierce is, if he's been dropped or if he's sitting out there, I know he's available in a lot of leagues. He was playing pretty well before missing last week. He had a couple games with, you know, 66. and 68 yards on four receptions. So this passing game has looked much better with Daniel Jones calling the shots. And they do have a pretty friendly upcoming schedule as well against the Raiders, Cardinals. Chargers is not very friendly, but Tennessee as well.
Starting point is 00:44:18 So three pretty good matchups over the next four weeks. So if I was prioritizing, I would go with Pierce over Mitchell because I do think he's going to jump back in here. I don't think he did anything to lose his spot. to Mitchell. And if anything, as you said, because of the play at the goal line, because of the hold, I think they might put Mitchell back on the bench here and just give him a few plays as a rotational piece with Pierce. I'm going to be the sicko making a couple of like very, very, very low, low offers to get Mitchell on a couple of dynasty rosters because I don't
Starting point is 00:44:54 know. I just think the talent's wild there. I saw him get interviewed after the game. The kid looked like he was going to cry. And he looked very, very, very, very. upset by the mistake. I just, he looks so good out there and can do certain things that other receivers are incapable of. But in the NFL, there's a lot of talented players. And when you make mental mistakes, you should probably listen to Tom Brawley on this one and not me. But I'm a irrational Adonite Mitchell guy. Joe Dolan, let's briefly talk about tight ends. Any interest in Dalton Schultz, any interest in Isaiah likely? Where are you out on the tight end landscape here? We covered Theo Johnson early in the show. Yeah, Theo Johnson.
Starting point is 00:45:31 of the priority. No doubt about it. The problem with talking tight ends from a Waverwire perspective is it feels like we're just talking about the same guy. You're talking about a guy who you hope catches four passes for 50 yards and scores a touchdown. Maybe Dalton Schultz is a guy who, because of the pressure that C.J. Stroud is under. He gets six or seven catches. I mean, it's just a matter of I would almost treat it like I treat a kicker, you know, at this point. If I don't have a tight end, I feel really good about, look at a high totaled game. And maybe you can, uh, project a game flow and get five or six catches out of these guys. But it looks like the Ravens are starting to force feed Mark Andrews a little bit more.
Starting point is 00:46:10 So maybe that Isaiah likely breakout isn't going to happen. So Theo Johnson is by far the priority. And fortunately, for everybody here, he's available 95% of Yahoo League. So there's a reasonable expectation you should be able to go get him. I'll toss out. Okay. Go ahead, Tom. I'll toss out Tommy Trembal as like a, if we're
Starting point is 00:46:31 looking for like a one week streamer here. Tatavian Sanders, you know, busted up his ankle a couple weeks ago, high ankle sprain. So Tremble saw an increase in work and they have that matchup against the dolphins and we'll see if it kind of holds true here. I know a lot of people are watching Monday night to see if Mason Taylor has a little bit of a stronger performance here, a rookie, a younger player against that Dolphins secondary. But it has been a tight end funnel here. So, and it doesn't sound like Jalen Coker, you know, they were saying week to week last week.
Starting point is 00:47:04 So he might not be ready to go in the slot here. So maybe it's the Tet McMillan show and maybe a little Tommy Trembal for Bryce Young in week five. So just that's his one guy, you know, expectations, as Joe said, these low end tight ends. You're just hoping that maybe they fall into the end zone, get you 40 or 50 yards. But Trembal is at least a guy here with Sanders out of the lineup. they needed him a little bit more in week four. Yeah, I will say that I'll leave a candle burning for Isaiah likely because it was his first game back.
Starting point is 00:47:36 Do they ramp him up a little bit more? And again, I keep bringing up the fact that the Ravens are one and three. There's going to be a little self-scouting there. Do they try to use a little more 12 personnel? I just believe in the talent of Isaiah likely. My whole view of him as a player doesn't necessarily change because of one game there. But like Joe said, it's a really tough week at the tight end. I think we're prioritizing Theo Johnson over any of the guys we discussed, probably by a clear margin based on his potential role increase.
Starting point is 00:48:03 Tom, we talked a little bit about the 49ers, wide receivers. Let's talk about Matthew Stafford. Stafford was fantastic. He had three touchdown passes. He had 375 receiving yards. The Rams beat the Colts. We have a ton of enthusiasm about the Rams offense overall. Obviously, Stafford doesn't offer us anything as a runner.
Starting point is 00:48:24 but does the quality of the offense propel him up, at least in terms of a waiver wire edition this week, especially when you factor in. It's a short week against the 49ers. Yeah, I like him. I mean, he's been trending up for, you know, since last season. I have it in our waiver wire article here. But basically over the last 16 games since Puka Nukuwa and Cooper Cup came back, I think it was a Thursday night game like week seven, week eight last year,
Starting point is 00:48:52 since those guys have been back in the lineup, if you include, the postseason. He's at basically a five and a half percent touchdown rate, which is a really strong number. I mean, we would take for most of our quarterbacks, like four to a half percent or better. If you're like six percent, that's, you know, really elite. So we're, you know, that's basically a full season sample size there, 29 touchdowns on his last 526 attempts with Puka in the lineup. And then we have Devante Adams, who's, you know, been one of the best receivers in the red zone here. So, you know, everything's kind of adding up here that Stafford, even though he doesn't
Starting point is 00:49:31 run, as you said, he's not going to give you any additional production on the ground. They're throwing it off. They're throwing it down by the goal line with Devante Adams. So, yeah, I think Stafford, below that Jackson Dart tier, who were prioritizing off the quarterback waiver wire, I think Stafford's next in line. And I'll add Michael Pennix, how to do that. a really, really strong week this past week. They head into their buy week and week five, but he's an interesting one. That offense could look better coming out of the buy. And Pennix
Starting point is 00:50:04 had really his second best game of the season. It was week one and week four. Both of those games were inside indoor games in Atlanta. Maybe that's the trend with Michael Pennix, where if we're considering using him as a streamer, we only consider those home environment games. Maybe it's sort of a Jared Goff corollary there. It was sort of a little less, less production, of course. Joe Dolan, Carson Wentz had another two passing touchdowns, but we saw the dark side of using Carson Wentz this week. Still got you there with fantasy scoring.
Starting point is 00:50:40 He had 350 passing yards, but it was the game flow sort of dictated there. Interested in Wentz, interested in Cooper Rush, if he gets the opportunity in Super Flex leagues. Well, Cooper Rush might end up having to throw a lot if that defense is bad. The bad news is if you need Cooper Rush, they play the Texans this week and the Texans can't score on anybody. So that's going to be a problem for Cooper Rush. I would have more interest in Wentz, but he's going against the Browns, a very tough defense and he's going against them with what will be a decimated Minnesota offensive line. They keep losing people. And Carson
Starting point is 00:51:13 Wentz is at his worst when he's under pressure and he's trying to make plays. And you saw that, you know, Mike Toblin would probably tell you the reason he did that stupid ass punt at the end of the Sunday morning game is because he expected Carson Wentz to turn the ball over. And for all intents and purposes, he did with a delay a game penalty, a bad sack and intentional grounding. And he nearly threw an interception. So it's just not a great spot to use either of these two. That being said when it comes to Wentz, the Kevin O'Connell, you mentioned a Jared golf corollary for Michael Pennings. So how about a Kevin O'Connell quarterback corollary for Carson Wentz? These guys, they make a ton of mistakes, but they put up
Starting point is 00:51:53 numbers when he needs to start one of these veteran quarterback. So if I had to pick one of those two for this week, it would be Carson Wentz. Well, there you go.
