Starting point is 00:00:00 This is Fantasy Football Today from CBS Sports. Here we go! Email us at fantasyfootballatcbsi.com. Here we go! It's time to dominate your fantasy league. Let's go! Now, here's some combination of Adam, Dave, Jamie, and Heath. Bonus episode of the Fantasy Football Today podcast.
Starting point is 00:00:22 What's up? What's up, buddy? You're just beaming with joy today. It's a bonus episode. Who doesn't love a bonus episode? And it's Friday. I don't know if people hear this. Sure. We're recording on Thursday.
Starting point is 00:00:34 Hope you enjoyed the show that actually aired on Thursday, our NFL Draft Talk with Ryan Wilson. And we're just going to take a look at some of the things we noticed with the schedule. Have some fun. Right, Jamie? The best thing about the schedule was the
Starting point is 00:00:47 social media teams for several of the NFL teams. Social media teams for NFL teams? Yeah. The Falcons was amazing. The Panthers was amazing. The Jets, I thought, did a very nice job. But I particularly enjoyed the Falcons
Starting point is 00:01:04 Game of Thrones theme that they did with their schedule, which was awesome. And the troll job on the Rams, on the Saints, excuse me, was fantastic. Must have taken a really long time. That was very impressive. Yeah. Several teams had a lot of fun with it. The Browns with John Dorsey.
Starting point is 00:01:20 The Giants, I believe, they used Tracy Morgan. Oh, yeah. The Jaguars used Josh Lambeau the Raiders the Raiders had Antonio Brown and Trent Brown reacting to it it was funny I'm glad they were doing some fun stuff we got about 10 minutes to talk about here
Starting point is 00:01:36 so what stands out is it fantasy relevant now or just football relevant it can be both I haven't dug deep enough to make it completely fantasy relevant there's a couple of things that stand out to me uh the first thing that stands out is every team that's got a home game in london or mexico city got absolutely screwed jacksonville six of eight games on the road between weeks four and week 12 uh rams have
Starting point is 00:02:04 four or five games on the road. Chargers, six of seven on the road. But the two that really got screwed are the Raiders and the Bucs. They each have five straight road games. They've got a bye mixed in there, but they're not playing in their building in a five-game span during the season. And Oakland's is particularly tough. Let me call it up because I just think. It's October. Oh, I particularly tough. Let me call it up. It's October. Oh, I just had it and I closed it out. Week three at Minnesota.
Starting point is 00:02:30 Week four at Indianapolis. Week five against Chicago and London. Week six by. Week seven at Green Bay. Week eight at Houston. That'll make Antonio Brown very happy. Business will not be booming for Antonio Brown. That's a really tough schedule.
Starting point is 00:02:48 Well, does it really bother you with Antonio Brown? I could see if they had a quarterback that we liked, but do you feel like Brown will get his numbers? What about Jalen Richard? Well, Jalen Richard will be fantastic, but I think he just, you know, I'm never one to really buy into the schedule as a determining factor fully in how I draft my fantasy rosters.
Starting point is 00:03:06 But that's just not pleasant to have to deal with that, you know, just from where it's on your body. You know, I mean, you're on a plane five straight weeks or, you know, five or six weeks with the bye week. The Raiders in particular have a bunch of early starts, too. So they're a team that, you know know gets hurt a little bit by the schedule i really for me i only look at the schedule the first few weeks of the season just because i think that's you know you can get off to a good start they was you mentioned this with sony michelle and the patriots before we started uh you know that there are there are players you can sort of point to and say okay if i'm on the fence it's a deciding factor but it's not going to be the ultimate factor in how i take my team. It's a tiebreaker.
Starting point is 00:03:45 How about this? Aaron Rodgers, first two games. This is right up your alley, Jamie. At Chicago versus Minnesota. Tough. That's going to be tough for Aaron Rodgers. It's not going to make me stay away from Aaron Rodgers. It's Aaron Rodgers. It's actually bad for Aaron Jones.
Starting point is 00:03:56 This is the same exact two opponents they started with last year. I remember Jones was suspended for two games, and I remember we talked about it. What if Jamal Williams gets off to a bad start against the Bears and the Vikings? And then Aaron Jones has a much, I don't know, easier path. Yep. This is obviously a different scenario. Nobody's suspended right now, but it's a bad opening schedule.
Starting point is 00:04:18 So what do they have after that? I know E-Gate is the game that a lot of people are going to point to if everybody's healthy is the Chiefs. Yeah. Denver. Chiefs, Jaguars? Packers, Chiefs. Oh, Week 8. Oh, okay a lot of people are going to point to if everybody's healthy is the Chiefs. Yeah. Denver. Chiefs, Jaguars? Packers, Chiefs. Oh, Week 8. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:04:27 Yeah. Packers. So in Week 2 through Week 4, they're actually at home. They've got Minnesota at home, then Denver at home, and then Philadelphia at home. And Denver is a familiar opponent when you factor in Vic Fangio. At Dallas after that, then Detroit at home, then Oakland at home. So I think they've got some games where they can put up points at home right soon after that but it is a difficult start for them um something that
Starting point is 00:04:49 stood out to me on atlanta's schedule 13 indoor games out of 16 on the year love that for calvin ridley and you gotta love that for matt ryan too obviously uh their toughest game of the year might be week one at minnesota yeah after, it gets pretty easy for them. They don't play outdoors until week 11. You want to talk about the mother of hot starts, the Falcons. That's great. You mentioned the Raiders, all the travel, but the Bucs have it pretty bad too, right?
Starting point is 00:05:18 They go from week four on at the Rams, at the Saints. Forget about the travel. These are tough schedules, tough opponents. At the Rams, at the Saints. Forget about the travel. These are tough schedules, tough opponents. At the Rams, at the Saints, London against Carolina. Then a bye at Tennessee, at Seattle. That's a five-game, six-week stretch where they are at the Tampa Bay. West Coast twice, London once, and not one home game.
Starting point is 00:05:40 That really sucks. What's the travel difference between going to Seattle and going to London for Tampa Bay? It might be closer to go to London. It might be closer to go to London. Yeah. Some other things. Week one. Let's see. I've got to take a look at the full week one schedule. Maybe there's a sleeper quarterback. We're going to start over Patrick Mahomes. Patrick Mahomes is at Jacksonville.
Starting point is 00:05:59 A sleeper? Yeah. The problem is that, A, if you're drafting Patrick Mahomes, you're not going to sit him, even against Jackson're drafting patrick mahomes you're not gonna sit him even against jacksonville in week one because you're gonna take them with a top 30 pick josh allen at the jets or patrick mahomes at the jags how about kyler murray against the lions at home no josh allen sam darnold patrick mahomes in week one. What do you think? You're still playing Mahomes. Yes. Okay, how about that?
Starting point is 00:06:29 You're probably in daily. You're probably playing one of those other guys over Mahomes. Oh, yeah, yeah. How about the start for the Chargers this year? Indianapolis at home, at Detroit, Houston at home, at Miami, Denver and Pittsburgh at home back-to-back, and then at Tennessee, and then it gets a little tricky at Chicago in Week 8. But Phillip Rivers, another hot start.
Starting point is 00:06:51 I don't know. It's kind of mixed there, some of the defense you mentioned. What was it again, Sadie? Indianapolis at home at Detroit. Indianapolis has a chance to have a very good defense. At Detroit, no, they won't have a good defense. Houston at home is going to be tough, but I think Rivers can come up with some numbers there.
Starting point is 00:07:05 At Miami? That's good. That's a good defense. Houston at home is going to be tough, but I think Rivers can come up with some numbers there. At Miami? That's good. That's a good one. And then after that, Denver at home? Probably a tough defense. Pittsburgh at home? Probably a tough defense. But at least they're at home.
Starting point is 00:07:18 The tougher matchup for the Chargers are definitely at home. Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, and Sam Darnold. Well, actually, no, the Bills had a very good they were good against quarterbacks last year because they were really bad against running backs, I think. But Allen's at the Dolphins. Oh, no, sorry. Allen's at the Jets and Jackson's at the
Starting point is 00:07:35 Dolphins in week one. Homecoming for them. I love the 49ers start to the schedule. If you're excited about Garoppolo, they start with Tampa Bay, Cincinnati, the Steelers, and then a bye. Week four bye is not great, but Tampa Bay and Cincinnati were two
Starting point is 00:07:52 of the three worst teams against quarterbacks. Pittsburgh was 21st out of 32 teams. Just keep in mind, we're talking about this before the draft. Yeah, of course. Things can change. And last year's stats don't necessarily mean much. No, but it's somewhat relevant.
Starting point is 00:08:07 Okay, cool. Anything else? Oh, Jamie thinks the Steelers are going to beat the Patriots? What? And we what? You think they're going to go to Foxborough on Sunday night and beat the Patriots? When they're giving out the rings? They're raising the banners?
Starting point is 00:08:22 Yeah. That's bold. There's only one by data. There's a time to catch the Patriots. Yeah. That's bold. There's only one Binato. It's time to catch the Patriots in September. That's true. There's only one Binato this year. Oh, yeah? Week 10 is our Binato week.
Starting point is 00:08:37 The teams that are all going to be on by at the same time. Denver, Houston, Jacksonville, New England, Philly, Washington. Did you say any more than one good quarterback there? You said Houston? Yeah. Deshaun Watson. Brady. Wentz, if he's good.
Starting point is 00:08:52 Oh, okay. If he's standing. If he's alive. Actually, I kind of like late buys. I like late buy weeks. So I think the Chiefs have another late buy week. Week 12, I think. Yeah, Chiefs have another late bye week. Week 12, I think. Week 12 byes are
Starting point is 00:09:07 Arizona, Kansas City, Chargers. Take a guess on the last one. Vikings? If you like revenge games, Week 16, Le'Veon Bell against the Steelers.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Against the Jets. Wow. Against the Steelers. Week 16. There's a Rogers-Mahomes game Week 8, you said? Week 8, yeah. Week 2 is Odell Beckham's return to... Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:35 ...Giant Stadium. That's awesome. The Jets have... But playing the Jets. The Jets... If you're a Jets season ticket holder, sell your tickets. They have the Browns Monday night. They have the Steelers coming to town. They have the Cow Browns Monday night. They have the Steelers coming to town.
Starting point is 00:09:46 They have the Cowboys coming to town. They have the Giants coming to town, whatever. They have a very lucrative home schedule. Giants technically have nine home games. Yeah, that's good. That's wonderful. Great. And they have a late buy.
Starting point is 00:09:58 And, of course, they start with the Cowboys, which is the most boring thing. Well, I mean, you know who to play week one, right? When was the last time he was good against them? 2017. No. boys, which is the most boring thing in the world. Well, I mean, you know who to play week one, right? Has he been? When was the last time he was good against them? 2017. No. No, the play in week one. Jason Witten is the play in week one.
Starting point is 00:10:12 Oh, I thought you were going to say you had a man. No, no, no. Jason Witten. He dominates the Giants. Didn't Swaim catch three touchdowns in week 17? Yes. Against the Giants? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:23 At the Giants. Yeah. Jason Witten, start of the week I'm starting him over my home Jarwin it was Jarwin oh it was Blake Jarwin okay it wasn't 17 it wasn't 17 it was 16 okay yeah week 16 all right guys
Starting point is 00:10:36 that's our NFL schedule breakdown very informative stuff just thought we'd get on the mic and have some fun with it look again we'll have more more as we sprinkle it in throughout yeah conversations yeah for sure all right thanks for listening people have a great weekend happy holidays talk to you on monday tuesday bye
