Starting point is 00:00:00 This is fantasy football today from CBS Sports. What a play. It's time to dominate your fantasy league. Off to the races and he stays on his feet. It's just going to go the distance. Now here's some combination of Adam, Dave, Jamie, and Heath. Big week here on fantasy football today. Welcome everybody.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Adam Azer, Heath Cummings, Jamie Eisenberg. We got sleepers, breakouts, and bus to talk to you about. Dave will be back on the Wednesday show. Today we're going to do sleepers. Of course, you got to do everything in order. What if we did busts first? Did you imagine? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:36 Me either. No, I can imagine. All right, anyway, thank you, Heath. But we're going to do sleepers today. We're talking about a lot of running backs you can get late that really could have big roles on their teams like J.K. Dobbins and Tyler Al Jir and Jordan Mason, et cetera. We're going to talk about Parker Washington,
Starting point is 00:00:54 try to wrap our heads around what happened there. He scored 19 or more fantasy points in each of his last four games, including the playoffs. We'll talk about Rashad White, who once upon a time was the number four running back overall. in PBR in 2023. Jamie, how was your weekend on the weekendometer? Let's see.
Starting point is 00:01:14 Sports-wise, we went three-in-one in baseball, so that was good. I believe basketball was not as successful for Heath, but for our household was one-in-one, so not a losing weekend. And then, let's see, had one emergency room visit for, child that was okay what everybody's all right but that was fun um yeah uh kids playing at uh someone's house fell backwards uh split his head open a little glue in the forehead and we're good to go my goodness okay heath everybody okay with you no no emergency room visits for my household um i think one for my basketball team uh but besides that no it was it was it was a fine weekend i'll give it a six and a half
Starting point is 00:02:06 All right, well, let's get into the show here. Before we get into the show. Great. No complaints. Good food. Great weather other than all the rain. Sunday was a washout. But it's good to be in a short, in a t-shirt. I'll be wearing sandals all week. So it's nice to enjoy that. Okay, how's everybody's bracket doing?
Starting point is 00:02:31 Who's winning the bracket challenge? Oh, my gosh, not me. Austin Stilger has a hundred points. It's very good. And he has Arizona. But it looks like Ben Daly, who is 99 points and a higher max score. One of you guys has a very good chance to be in the podcast league. And then Tyler, oh, no, you're out, Michigan State.
Starting point is 00:02:51 We got some Michigan's in there. A meal, you got a chance. Anyway, thank you all for participating. We had about 1,000 entries. I am in. Oh, man. I am in what place? out of about 1,000, I am in 766 place.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Is anybody doing worse than me? Oh, I think so. Once Florida was eliminated, I stopped watching college basketball. I'm still watching most of the games and it continues the trend of great finishes, which has been nice, except for that Michigan game. But I'm pretty sure I'm behind you in the bracket challenge. Yeah, I'm around 790, if I remember right, yeah. Yeah, that's so good.
Starting point is 00:03:31 All right. to the news and notes. The 49ers are hopeful that George Kittle could be ready for week one. And they're also making good progress on contract talks with their left tackle, Trent Williams. Heath, if George Kittle were ready for week one, in what round do you think he should be drafted? Man, this tight end group will just get deeper and deeper. I think we're still going to have some skepticism at his age coming off this injury and the yak did disappear. last year before the injury.
Starting point is 00:04:04 So while we were taking him, I think, in the round three, four range a year ago. For me, it would probably be more in the round five, six range now. Okay. Andy Reid did not give an update on Patrick Mahomes. Cleveland GM Andrew Barry said Quinn John Judkins should participate in offseason workouts in some form or fashion. From weeks three through 15, he got hurt in week 16. He didn't play that much in week two.
Starting point is 00:04:29 He missed week one. From week three to 15, Juddman. was Jamie the number 24 running back per game in PPR. He was on pace for 300 carries, but only 26 catches on pace for 10 touchdowns struggled on a per carry basis. Convinced me that he can be better than RB 24 per game. Todd Mockin, you know, in just this history of running backs. Look, I think whether you get Deshaun Watson or another year of Shreder Sanders,
Starting point is 00:04:57 I think the quarterback play should be slightly better. I don't expect it to be dramatically better. but hopefully that means a better offense. And so as long as the offensive line is not a complete disaster, I think Judkins can be in that 18 to 20 range. I don't have a ton of high expectations for him because I don't expect a huge role in the passing game. And obviously expecting a lot of touchdowns from this Brown's offense is exactly the most thing you want to hang your hat on. But he certainly showed that he can run the ball well.
Starting point is 00:05:27 He certainly showed when he was throwing the ball, he can be involved in the passing game. So I think when you're looking at that back end RB2 group, he's in that discussion. All right, Cameron Wolf of the NFL network says he thinks Michael Pennix will be ready at some point in training camp. Will he be the starting quarterback? It'll be him or Tua. Don't forget to find the new YouTube channel for Beyond the Box Score. They obviously have had their own audio fee, but now they have their own YouTube channel. So just look for Beyond the Box Score on YouTube.
Starting point is 00:05:55 And check out FFT Dynasty as well. Great time to get ready for the NFL. draft. But right now, we're getting ready for sleepers. And a lot of the sleepers are also guys who change teams or free agency relevant, like Josh Downs, who lost Michael Pittman as a teammate. But Heath, we're going to start with your sleepers. We're going to start with Kyler Murray, who has now been, even if we remove partial games, just look at the last three seasons, 20.5 or fewer fantasy points per game and three straight seasons. But he still was top 12, I believe, per game, right around 12th in 20, 23 and 4.
Starting point is 00:06:29 So I'll throw that number out. 20.5 fantasy points per game. It's fine. It's not great. Six point per pass and touchdown leagues. What do you think the chances are he can do better than that in Minnesota? Oh, I think that they are pretty good. I think this is if he wins the job outright, this is probably the best situation that he's ever played in, probably the best play caller.
Starting point is 00:06:52 The combination of Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison and T.J. Hawkinson is better than he's ever had in terms of a complete receiving court. And so listen, you can spin the per game, I think, either direction. Last year was a disaster at 18 fantasy points per game. Before that, he had three straight of basically right at 20. And before that, two seasons over 24. It's funny because he has gotten older and he's 28 now. But the rushing production really has not suffered. He averaged six yards per carry last year.
Starting point is 00:07:25 That's his career metric. has been over 30 rushing yards per game every year of his career. It has a 17-game pace of six rush touchdowns. That's five fantasy points per game on the ground, but Kyler-Mory scores. With Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, just average as a passer. And if you're having deja vu and you think,
Starting point is 00:07:46 man, this sounds a lot like Justin Fields. Yes, it's the same argument. I think Kyler is actually cheaper right now, except for one of our mock drafts, than Justin Fields was last year. But if he's the starting quarterback and for as long as he's the starting quarterback, the expectation should be he's going to be a top 12 quarterback. I will probably get an answer within the next couple of hours because the owner's meetings are going on right now.
Starting point is 00:08:12 And today is the NFC coaches are meeting with the media. I wonder if Kevin O'Connell, and I totally agree with everything he said, just potentially a little wrinkle to it. I wonder if Kevin O'Connell, because it's a one-year commitment to Kyler Murray, and clearly they're not comfortable with J.J. McCarthy committing to him as their quarterback of the future, do they have an open competition and let Carson Wentz maybe come in and see if he can win the job? And I don't think that's the case, but clearly Wentz played well for spurts last year when healthy for Kevin O'Connell. And just knowing, like, not that they need to win now, or he needs to win now to just. justify his job, but this is a roster that can compete because Brian Flores is a great defensive coordinator, may not be there very long. And there's going to be some frustrations
Starting point is 00:09:03 if they don't make a run to some degree because they were knocking on the doorstep two years ago when they were competing for the one seat in the NFC, excuse me, 24. So I wonder if Wence has an opportunity here to maybe just totally destroy what this narrative could be of Kyler Murray or even J.J. McCarthy. Now, again, I would probably say it's, Murray is the one. Wendt is probably the two. And then McCarthy is, hey, let's see how the season goes and then we play him. But it's just kind of interesting thought to me of what Wence's signing means to this team and this organization. And I do think, you know, the second part of this would be whoever it is not McCarthy is great for
Starting point is 00:09:41 the upside of what Jefferson and Addison can get back to being because they're both really good with Wents in that five games, four game stretch last year that he played. Heath, last question. Who's the best sleeper in the Vikings passing game? Addison, Murray, or even Hawkinson? I would say it's probably right now, Kyler Murray. The way I, and this is a tricky thing at the end of March doing a sleeper's list because sleepers are influenced by where they're going to be taken in drafts and we don't
Starting point is 00:10:13 fully know that. So I kind of use the fantasy pros consensus rankings and Addison was still ranked just, I think he was in the end of round eight, early round nine in those rankings. That's for me still just a little bit early for a sleeper pick. So it's Kyler, but I was very much interested in putting Addison there. I think Addison can be a top 30 wide receiver. Adison was over 15 PPR points per game in three of the four starts with one slasher. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:40 Yeah, he was really good. All right, Heath, we're going to talk about three running backs that you have. J.K. Dobbins, Rashad White, and Jonathan Brooks. Who? Jonathan Brooks, but we're going to do that after we take a break. So we'll look at heats running back sleepers after this on fantasy football today. J.K. Dobbins. J.K. Dobbins is 27 years old.
Starting point is 00:10:59 He seems like he's been around for so long. For his career, he is averaging 5.2 yards per carry, and he's almost always around that. He's just been so good. And last year, he was on a per game basis, running back 23 per game and non-PPR, 25 per game and half ppr, ppm, 27 per game and full PPR. That's J.K. Dobbins. The other two running backs on Heath's sleepers list are Washington running back Rashad White and Carolina running back Jonathan Brooks. Heath, how would you rank them?
Starting point is 00:11:25 Dobbins White Brooks. Oh, it's certainly Dobbins White Brooks. It's in that order. Their consensus rankings in that order. I was shocked to see Dobbins consensus ranking is RB 41 with a round 11 value. And that seems ridiculous except in our most recent mock. I think I took Dobbins in round 10. and that was a half PPR draft, like a format that he's actually better in.
Starting point is 00:11:49 He was used at RB 27 last year in PPR. He was RB 17 the year before. The funny thing is he was much better last year. His success rate was 11 points higher. His yards per carry was up a half a yard. He ran for more yards per game last year than he did when he was RB17. He just didn't score the touchdowns. I don't think it's a sure thing that he holds on to the same role that he had at the beginning
Starting point is 00:12:12 of last year because RJ Harvey Harvey's not a rookie anymore. but it's a possibility. And if you can find a guy who could be an RB2 in round 10 for as long as Dobbins stays healthy, that's a good, good target. What about White and Brooks? I think White probably has a little more upside than people are saying. He's RB 46 in the consensus rankings, around 12. He's locked in on passing downs.
Starting point is 00:12:39 The guy is one of the greatest catch rates ever for a running back. He's 85, 89% almost every year. And the thing that prevents him, I mean, if they take Jeremiah Love, just throw all this out. But the thing right now that prevents him from having more rush attempts is that Bill is going to take over a larger role. Well, if he doesn't clean up the stuff that he needs to clean up, white has been better the last two years as a rusher. And at time, by some metrics was more efficient than Bucky Irving was last year. I think there is a chance that he could end up in the role that Austin Echler had. where he doesn't, he's never going to have 20 rush attempts for game,
Starting point is 00:13:15 but he might have 10 to 15 rush attempts per game and be the obvious guy on passing downs. And that can turn into an RB2 and he's almost free. Jamie, do you, what do you think Jonathan Brooks's outlook is, another guy on Heath's Sleepers list here? If healthy, could be the best running back for the Panthers. Most likely, he's in a shared situation with Chuba Hubbard, if things go well for him.
Starting point is 00:13:43 And then maybe by the middle of the season, he's the better of the two in whatever tandem. However, they're using that tandem. I mean, the concern would be is that, I guess the biggest concern would be is that he's not healthy. But the concern would be is that if he does open the season as the backup, or at least competing for the backup role with Trevor E.T.N. That Chuba Hubbard still continues to, you know, dominate touches. And we just don't see a significant role for him. But it wouldn't shock me at all if, as we discussed last week, like, this could be a team
Starting point is 00:14:10 that, you know, adds another running back to the mix just because, wanting to see Brooks prove himself, not necessarily wanting to lean on ETN as that backup guy and maybe realizing that they potentially overpaid Chuba Hubbard for what kind of a running back he is. But you always like situations where the player is talented. He's got a situation that he's got to overcome. And for Brooks, it's a pretty serious one, you know,
Starting point is 00:14:34 suffering two ACL tears in back-to-back years. But the guy in front of him is not exactly the most proven talented, however you want to attach, you know, the sort of negatives to Chuba Hubbard. You know, I think he's certainly done an adamant job for the Panthers and at times for fantasy managers, but we know he's not the most successful type of player. So I think Brooks is in a good spot. I think he's definitely great value, you know, depending on how this back is going to look like. But if they add somebody, then I don't know how many people are going to be excited to take Jonathan Brooks.
Starting point is 00:15:04 Okay, as of right now, who do you think has a better chance to lead his team in carries? Jonathan Brooks in Carolina or Rashad White in Washington? Ashad White in Washington. Right. I think Rashad White, like if you want the most optimistic outcome, is he's this year's Kenneth Gamewell. Shad White. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:25 That's interesting. Yeah. Maybe Kenneth Gainwell. Is this year's Kenneth Gainwell, Jamie? Maybe. Maybe so. All right, Heath, back to your sleepers list. Romeo Dobbs and Josh Downs are your two wide receivers.
Starting point is 00:15:39 you also have Isaiah likely who will talk about. But Romeo Dobbs, who has been just very consistent throughout his career, 42 to 59 catches, no more than 724 yards in all four seasons, 67 to 96 targets, which is kind of a big range. But anyway, fifth year guy now with the Patriots, Romeo Dobbs and Josh Downs for the Colts. Who do you like better? I like Dobbs just a little better. They're both right around between that wide receiver 36 to 40. range for me i think i was maybe arguing against dubs a week or two ago but i didn't realize how low like
Starting point is 00:16:14 the industry seems to be on him he's around rb wide receiver 50 in the in the projections maybe everybody is still just expecting like i've talked about how people are lower on jlyn hertz i think they should be might be some people are just still expecting a j brown to end up on the patriots but as of right now i only have him projected for a hundred and one targets romeo dobs and he's my wide receiver 38 if you give him the same efficiency and he gets to a hundred and 10 targets, he's wide receiver 30, 120, he's wide receiver 24. As their team's currently constructed, that's possible. I don't know that 120 is what's going to happen, but I think he has a chance if they don't
Starting point is 00:16:51 add anybody else significant at the wide receiver position to be a borderline top 24 wide receiver. Downs, the thing that I like about him is like Pittman's gone, you look at the Colts A dot last year. Alec Pierce was an absolutely insane 18.9 yards downfield on his average target. Tyler Warren was five yards away from the line of scrimmage. Just almost everything was really close where he had some screens working there. Pitman and Downs were separated by a half a yard, 8.1, 7.5. Downs was working in the part of the field where Pittman was as well. Pitman is now gone. The hope is, and they haven't, I don't think Nick Westbrook's going to keep this from happening.
Starting point is 00:17:35 The hope is they play Josh Downs in more two wide receiver sets because that's not what we've seen very often. I've got nine games in his career where he had a 75% snapshot. He averaged nine targets per game in those nine games. He is very good at earning targets when he's on the field. We just need him on the field more. I'll downgrade him if they make an addition that I think could keep him off the field in two wide receiver sets. But as of right now, I think he gets a boost in playing time. He gets a boost in targets because Pittman's gone.
Starting point is 00:18:05 could be a good number three wide receiver. So this Josh Downs were talking about here. I had a similar stat. I looked at games where he had an 80% route participation rate or higher. I don't know if this is good or not. He scored double-digit PPR fantasy points in 10 of 16 games with an 80% route participation rate or higher. I mean, it's very good from a sleeper standpoint, right?
Starting point is 00:18:28 Right. You know, it's not great from a breakout standpoint. Some of the games were like right around 10. And it wasn't like. Of course, there's been, like, hopefully Daniel Jones is the guy we saw in the first half of last year. And that's the best quarterback play that Josh Downs has had in his career. There's a lot of, I would assume there's a few Anthony Richardson games mixed in there. There's a few, like, there's some.
Starting point is 00:18:54 A three Phillip Rivers games mixed in there. Right. Oh, Mitch was good for. Yeah. You know what I, this, what I'm struggling with is like, how do I feel about the Colts past catchers? because losing Pittman is obviously a big deal, but Daniel Jones averaged 8.1 yards per attempt. He never averaged more than 6.8 in his, forget about like when it just,
Starting point is 00:19:18 I'll just use this whole season, right, other than the Jacksonville game. He's on pace for 4,300 yards, 27 touchdowns. I have this balance of, well, they've got such a better situation now because, you know, Pittman's not there versus I just don't see how they can do it again, you know, be the highest scoring team in the NFL. when Daniel Jones was playing and have him have this career year. He's coming off of Torn Achilles. I think it was hard for him to repeat that success anyway.
Starting point is 00:19:42 So I'm trying to strike this balance of the increased opportunities versus I would expect, personally, I would expect a worse passing game, worse Daniel Jones this year. I think that's fair, but you're getting a better opportunity for Josh Downs. And look, even a worse Daniel Jones is still going to be a positive for the receiving core when you're removing 100 plus targets from the equation. You know, so I think you're expecting a big leap for Alec Pierce to whatever degree. You're a leap for Alex Pierce. I'm a leap for Alec Pierce.
Starting point is 00:20:14 You're expecting, I think, at least I am, you know, something close to the first half of the season for Tyler Warren. So that's why he's got top five upside. And then this is the guy in terms of downs that could take the biggest jump because, again, you know, we've seen flashes. We've seen now opportunity arise without Pittman there. And so late round value, he's a moment. among the best guys, I think you can find, just based on, you know, what his expected role should be.
Starting point is 00:20:39 So Heath is right. You know, if he's playing more on two receiver sets, you know, that should certainly be a boost for him. And then, you know, we'll see sort of how this all shakes out. We're also, you know, asking a lot, the Colts are asking a lot based on what they paid Alex Pierce for him to be this guy and be this alpha, which we've never seen from him. And so it could be more of a 1A and a 1B. And Downs is getting, you know, the biggest benefit of all of Pittman being on. You want to do a, an experiment? I don't know if you guys feel this way,
Starting point is 00:21:06 but do you feel like when you start drafting wide receivers in round seven, round eight, it's just you're kind of shocked at the players you're taking? Like, really? This guy? Yeah, I don't think I've said, I didn't say any names that I was super, super excited about taking in round seven or round eight.
Starting point is 00:21:24 Like, I think downs and dobs both fit in round eight. So, yeah, I mean, talking about that, like every time we talk about wide receivers, it's just, it's thin, it's thin. But then let's take a look at, Let's take a little. What about the wide receivers we took a year ago? I'm looking at our fantasy football today league from last August.
Starting point is 00:21:41 It was actually the last draft we did. It may have been in September, early September. The wide receivers. It was for the season, sir. Yeah, okay. So early September. Wide receivers, we took Cooper Cup, Romo Dunzee, Kian Coleman, not Dave, by the way, Chris Olave, Stefan Diggs.
Starting point is 00:22:04 a lot of old guys there. Debo, Cooper Cup, O'Donzei, Coleman, Jacobo, Jacobi Myers was in there. Chris Olavé, Stefan Diggs. Jordan Addison was in round eight. Joanne Jennings was in round eight. Chris Godwin, round eight. So that wasn't, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:22:21 I mean, ended up being not so bad. Like O'Donzee was good. Jacob Myers, Chris Olavé, Stefan Diggs. It was pretty good. There's a lot of guys who were really good for short periods of time. like O'Donzei was incredible for the first four or five weeks, then kind of mid, then hurt.
Starting point is 00:22:40 Debo was really good for about half the season. And then, yeah. Yeah. But, you know, it's not like we were drafting studs last year. I guess maybe I'm overreacting to the talent in round seven at wide receiver.
Starting point is 00:22:56 I think this is the group, you know, I'm hopeful that. Dobbs, to me, could be a breakout candidate if we get to, you know, the end of the draft and
Starting point is 00:23:06 AJ Brown is still on the Eagles and he's that number one guy. I think Downs is in this range of receivers that should be drafted in this range. We're going to see what the draft tells us, but also the NFL draft. But I think when we get to fantasy drafts,
Starting point is 00:23:21 especially if you're in a three receiver league, like it's almost like you want to get to, by the time you get to round seven, you'd rather have your four receivers if that's your plan or certainly three locked up by this point. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:23:33 And finally, Isaiah likely Heath, is your tight end sleeper. We talked about him, I think, was it last show? We've talked about him almost every show. It's just whether Jamie or I sends the notes in first, who gets to talk about Isaiah likely. He's still outside of the top 12 consensus tight ends. I think he probably gets into that 11 or 12 range,
Starting point is 00:23:54 depending on what the George Kettle information is by the time we get to draft season. But another guy, like Josh Downs, who we're just hoping because of new circumstances, gets to play a lot more. I think he has 13 games in his career where he's played over 70% of the snaps. I would expect him as long as he's healthy to play over 70% of the snaps in all the Giants games this year. And he's been about a 10 and a half fantasy point per game guy in that stretch. But that's kind of undervaluing it because there's several games early in his career where he played a lot of snaps but didn't see many targets.
Starting point is 00:24:26 In more than a third of those games, he's scored more than 16 PPR fantasy points, immense upside. especially if he's the number two in this offense behind the league neighbors. So where did you say likely it was in the consensus rankings? I think he was 15. I don't know. What is it about? Is it just not enough data yet? Or are we looking at rankings from before free agency,
Starting point is 00:24:52 mixed them with rankings after free agency? Well, I didn't know. I just think there's just that many tight ends that people are really excited about Ronda Getson. Some people are going to keep ranking Travis Kelsey in the top 12. Well, we have, we have like eight or nine that we're, almost everybody prefers over Isaiah likely. They could still have Kittle ahead of him, for if they're optimistic about the injury. People are hoping for a Mark Andrews bounce back.
Starting point is 00:25:18 Like there's, there's just a lot. Tight ends deep. Okay. All right, Jamie, let's take a look at your sleepers here. And you've got a number of running backs who are in mostly new situations. But you have Jordan Mason. and you have Tyler Algeant. Minnesota's Jordan Mason,
Starting point is 00:25:36 Arizona running back Tyler Algear, Seattle running back Emmanuel Wilson, and Jacksonville running back Chris Rodriguez. Oddly enough, I don't think this is any reason why Jamie put them on their sleep, maybe. But Jordan Mason, Emmanuel Wilson, and Chris Rodriguez, in their careers, they've all averaged 4.5 yards
Starting point is 00:25:52 per carry are better. They've been good. And then Algear's been, I don't know, he's probably around 4.2. 4.9, 3.7, 4.7, 3.6 yards per carry in his 4. seasons. None of these guys have been very involved in the passing game, though, but Jordan Mason, Tyler Alger, Emmanuel Wilson, and Chris Rodriguez Jr., discuss those four running backs and what you like about them. Well, first off, I may have the wrong Seattle running back.
Starting point is 00:26:17 Mike McDonald, you know, again, the owners meetings are going on. So some of the teams and the coaches, front office members, et cetera, meet with their local media before they have the formal sit down that's happening today this morning and tomorrow morning. And Mike McDonald was asked about his running back room, and the first name out of his mouth was George Alani. So, you know, we may get to a point by the time, you know, August starts if Charbonnet is not ready to go and it's not a prominent rookie because I'm expecting them to draft somebody for sure, but it's not a prominent rookie. Halani may be the guy that they lean on first.
Starting point is 00:26:49 So that's just something to keep an eye on there. But again, it's opportunity. You know, I think with the Seattle situation, it's obvious. You know, if there is no Charbonnet, whoever is going to be that potential starter, you're going to want to gravitate to with, you know, probably something as early as round eight. but a little bit later than that potentially as well. Whoever comes out of that mix of guys and ends up starting for Seattle, it's still going to be a very good offense.
Starting point is 00:27:13 It's still going to be a very good situation. At some point, you know, Charbonnet may be ready and that changes things, but I think you want pieces of this backfield as long as there's this, you know, ambiguity of, you know, who it may or may not be as the potential starter. Wilson, you know, showed some flashes last year when Josh Jacobs was hurt. to me he's the one I think would probably be the most likely player to, you know, start the season, again, depending on what they do at the draft. But I think of this group, you know, there's just uncertainty. And when you're looking at it, you know, you're looking at the situation of Algier is probably an injury-related situation for him to be a fantasy starter.
Starting point is 00:27:55 Because I do think as we discussed last week, like James Connor, I think he said it best, James Connor, when he's healthy, should be the best running back to the Cardinal. because of what he'll do as a pass catcher and has proven that he can be a three-down running back and be very successful in it. Alger, to what you just said, is not going to be involved in the passing game to a high degree, at least unless things change. But even in his rookie season,
Starting point is 00:28:17 he wasn't doing that when he ran for 1,000 yards for the Falcons. And they were very quick to replace him with a high draft pick of Bijan Robinson. So he's probably just touchdown-related, touchdown-dependent. In the case of Rodriguez and Mason, like, they could emerge as the best rushers on their teams. I think more so in Jacksonville because we don't know what Bachel Tutin's capable of.
Starting point is 00:28:37 Again, the connection with Liam Cohen to Rodriguez at Kentucky when they were together as an assistant coach and young running back. That may matter more so than anything else and just giving an opportunity to get on the field. And in the case of Jordan Mason, I saw at least one person attached to a media member covering the Vikings suggested, Let's just end this drive-swapping situation that they sort of went through last year. Let's make Mason the first and second-down guy. Let Aaron Jones play on passing downs. But Jones is going to be 32 or 31, excuse me. And Jordan Mason, in the four games that Aaron Jones missed last year,
Starting point is 00:29:15 one amazing game against Cincinnati, I believe it was, one very good game where he was over 12 ppr points, one over 11, one over 10. So his average is going to look good because he didn't really have a stinker in there. But I think he could be if he was a full-time guy, like a 12-PPR point per game type of running back, which would be a back-end RB2. So these are the type of guys you put on your bench and you see what develops. Again, the Seattle situation, Jacksonal situation, you know, kind of have to see what happens in camp. But the other two are probably more related to injuries or a slight change in maybe what happens in terms of what their expected philosophy or depth chart looks like.
Starting point is 00:29:52 Why do you think so far we, at least, and the drafts we've done. Why do you think in Arizona seems like we're just kind of giving up on Trey Benson? What's your read on Trey Benson? It's a third round pick. He's battled injury. But it's obviously a talented guy. And I don't know. We haven't really given him too much of a chance, it seems.
Starting point is 00:30:15 That's my interpretation. Jamie, what are your thoughts on Benson? I think signing Alger and restructuring Connor kind of tells you what they think of Benson at this point. And again, you know, new regime. So, you know, we'll see how this all shakes out. But he missed his opportunity in my mind. You know, Connor gets hurt. And so does he at the same time.
Starting point is 00:30:36 And then never gets back on the field to prove himself. And so I'm hopeful, to be honest, like maybe give him an opportunity to go someplace else and sort of go through 2026 with this combination of Connor and Alger. And then, you know, maybe find somebody in the draft or, or hit the reset button in 2027, but I don't think Benson barring injury is going to get that chance. Now, again, you know, just got finished talking about the Minnesota situation. I think they bring back Carson Wentz because they had such a disaster,
Starting point is 00:31:06 so they want to have as much depth as possible. If you're the Cardinals, last year's running back situation was as bad as any team had. You know, when you lose Connor, you lose Benson, DeMercato was banged up. Michael Carter was banged up. You know, like their whole, you know, everybody that was supposed to be an impactful player for them, whether it was running back or special teams got hurt. And so, you know, you're just bringing in quality players in Alger's case was a reasonable cost.
Starting point is 00:31:31 You get Conner back at a reasonable cost. Benson's still in his rookie deal. You know, it doesn't seem like you have to really, you know, go out and spend too much on that position. But having players that you probably trust in a depth standpoint is a good thing as well. I just don't think Benson matters if everybody's healthy. Heath, what's your take on that on Benson? Oh, I think Jamie said it best.
Starting point is 00:31:53 I've been a big proponent of Benson. I am a believer in his talent. I was very hopeful that last year was the last year of James Connor. And if it had just been bringing Tyler Alger in, I would have bet on him being the number two to Trey Benson. But they also brought back James Connor. And so I'm not saying I think Trey Benson is dumb to draft him in the same range as like a Jonathan Brooks. But I wouldn't draft him any higher.
Starting point is 00:32:24 I really want to see him get a chance. I mean, he had 13 catches in four games last year. And Tyler Algiers never had more than 18 catches in a season. He's just a different running back than Alger. I think he'd be more exciting for fantasy. I think he could do more. I think he'd be worse because he's so boom or bust, but he's got a lot more potential.
Starting point is 00:32:52 I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that, that Trey Benson at least gets an opportunity. opportunity, because I think he'd be the most exciting. I mean, maybe Connor would still be the most exciting. I don't know what he has left in the tank at this point. But I'd like to see Benson get an opportunity before Al Jair. I think you're right in the way you guys have framed it. I don't think it's going to happen.
Starting point is 00:33:09 All right, you would think ahead of him on the depth chart. But personally, I'd be rooting for Benson to get a chance. All right. Well, I don't know how many of you were rooting for a commercial break. But if you are, now is your moment. All right. Standing ovation. We'll be right back after this commercial break on fantasy football today.
Starting point is 00:33:25 And we've got four wide receivers on Jamie's sleeper list. Let's do the first two because it will separate the last two. The first two are interesting here, Parker, Parker, Parker. In the last four games of the season for Jacksonville, including one postseason game, Parker Washington had nine or more targets, 87 or more yards,
Starting point is 00:33:46 19 or more PPR fantasy points in every game. And he led the team in targets by a mile. He had 41 targets, Kobe Myers, at 27. Jalen, Coker in the last six games for Carolina, including the postseason, he led his team in targets. He had more targets than Tetero-McMillan, only three more. Coker had a 22.6 percent target share.
Starting point is 00:34:10 McMillan had a 20.8 percent target share. That's going to need to be better, by the way, if we're going to take McMillan or Mount three. But Washington and Coker, how close are they, Jamie, in your rankings? Washington's probably a round ahead of Coker. I have the Jacksonville receivers, not named Travis Hunter, kind of bunched together. And I would really prefer just to take, if I want a piece of that passing game, the last of the top three guys of Thomas Myers and Washington, which is how I have it ranked. Actually, I might have Washington ahead of Myers, but they're all very much bunched together.
Starting point is 00:34:48 And in the case of Koker, to me, he's in a similar scenario fantasy-wise to Josh Downs. Like, I think at best, Koker is the number two target getter. He probably right now should be the number two target getter for the Panthers, whereas Downs is probably third. But, you know, a secondary piece of this offense that has, I think, still some upside. But in the case of these two receivers, like you want them to be benched guys to open the season, at least I do. and then hopefully they impress like they did at times last year
Starting point is 00:35:19 where they can be potential starters for you as the season moves on. What do you make of that four-game stretcher Parker Washington? It was just so good. Again, 19 and more PPR fantasy points in every game, includes the one playoff game. And I would have to guess. In fact, I'm going to, you know what? I don't even have to look it up.
Starting point is 00:35:40 I'm just going to say it with confidence. Wondale Robinson has never done that. Romeo Dobbs has never done that. Those guys got big contracts to go elsewhere, and we're hoping that they take another jump in their fifth season. I mean, it was like, it just blew me away, how good he was down the stretch. What did you think? Yeah, I think it's probably fair to say that averaging over 10 yards per game and like 20 fantasy points per game is probably something those guys have not done.
Starting point is 00:36:09 It's, I think it's hard to place that within the story of Parker Washington's career. and the fact that even at the beginning of the year, it didn't seem like that this was the plan for him. And so was it just a thing they found at the end of the year that worked really well? Or was this him having his third year breakout over the course of a month? I'm generally a little bit more skeptical of those things. But I agree with like Washington was one of the guys I went to look and he was just a little bit. Like he was in that Jordan Addison range in terms of the consensus ranking.
Starting point is 00:36:48 So I didn't put him on the list, but I think he's a great sleeper call. I prefer Jacoby Myers to Parker Washington, and I think it'll be interesting to see when we get to August, like where their ADP is in relation to each other. But the number one wide receiver in Jacksonville is a mystery. And I wouldn't be that surprised if it's not the same guy all year long. Sure. And Parker Washington went one pick ahead of Josh Downs,
Starting point is 00:37:17 Another guy we talked about in our first post-free agency mock draft. Who would you guys, Jamie then Heath, who would you prefer, Parker Washington or Josh Downs? Right now, Parker Washington. As of right now, I do have Washington higher. Okay. Jamie, Quentin Johnson is on your sleepers list. Let's see where he went in this draft. He went, oh, after them, way after them.
Starting point is 00:37:42 He went with the 11th pick of round 10. Quentin Johnson, first four games on page. for 94 catches, 1,432 yards, 17 touchdowns on 153 targets. That's insane. That was four games. The last 10 games, he was on pace for 82 targets and less than 700 yards. Who is Quentin Johnson, Jamie? I think a guy in a great spot if Keenan Allen doesn't come back.
Starting point is 00:38:08 You know, and we're looking at this offense, presumably getting better for two reasons. One, the offensive line being healthy, too, the addition of Mike McDaniel. And so unless there's a big leap for Trey Harris and Lambert Smith, mostly Harris, I would hope, then Quinn Johnson is the number two receiver. And then we'll see if he's number two in terms of targets behind McConkey competing with Orande Gassano. So Johnston, I think we were all quick to say,
Starting point is 00:38:39 okay, he sucks and he's not going to be a part of it. And last year he was a part of it and had a lot of, of big moments. And so we talked about this last week a little bit with the players that we were discussing. I think it was our favorite guys. You know, Dave brought up Christian Watson. That conversation went. I think Alec Pierce is somebody that's, you know, in a similar situation.
Starting point is 00:39:00 Like, you're talking about big plays and spike weeks and disappointing weeks as well. I would certainly not put Quinn Johnson the same category or range or want to draft him as where I would be drafted Christian Watson and Alec Pierce. but the production by the end of the season may be somewhat similar. So, you know, I think just Quinn Johnson is one of these guys. Like when you get to that wide receiver four range and you're looking for upside, you're attaching him to a very good quarterback. You're attaching him to a very good offense potentially,
Starting point is 00:39:31 and you're attaching him to big plays. And those are the type of guys that, you know, can win you some big weeks. And your last sleeper is Jalen McMillan. Played four games last year, had nine targets in week 17, had a huge game, seven catches for 114 yards. in Miami. The other three games, McMillan had three or fewer targets. So last year, it really shouldn't even be counted.
Starting point is 00:39:53 Mike Evans is gone. McMillan showed you can fill in pretty well two years ago. When do you think we should start considering Jalen McMillan? So I mentioned this, and the stories on the site, I didn't really dive too much into my team, but we, you know, sort of mentioned this a little bit in terms of like late round wide receivers. I had the choice of, I wanted to take two wide receivers. I took Darnell Mooney and Christian Kirk. And then right after that, Jacob took Jalen McMillan.
Starting point is 00:40:19 And you can make pros and cons for all three of those guys. But like you said, McMillan two years ago as a rookie, his last five games of the season, he was amazing with Baker Mayfield. And that was what Evans actually backed, but Godwin out. That was when Godwin had the ankle injury. And so now you're looking at just an opportunity here. And we're all excited about a Mecca book, as we should. But Godwin has had a hard time staying healthy for, you know, two of the last four seasons.
Starting point is 00:40:42 And McMillan is a player that, you know, when given an opportunity and certainly when given targets and didn't take a lot of them, he can have a chance to be a good playmaker. So I don't think he's anybody you want to invest heavily in right now, but top three wide receiver on the bucks, I think we'll see a situation where they do spread the ball around probably more than we hope for because we want to see a Mecca, Buka, and then probably Chris Godwin's second, get fed targets as much as possible.
Starting point is 00:41:06 But I think the Mullen's a pretty good player. And, you know, somebody that can have, you know, some good moments similar to a Parker, a Josh Downs, a Jalen Coker, you know, those type of guy. that when they get chances they produce. So good late round pick to see what happens in the first part of the season. Heath, any thoughts? I am very excited about a few of Jamie's sleepers. I think I've been besides you, the Quentin Johnston guy,
Starting point is 00:41:34 and I think that there's a sneaky chance that he could be better than Ladd-McConkey. He has been for stretches in the past. So it's a new offensive system. We'll see how Mike McDaniel draws everything up. But as cheap as Quentin Johnston is, I think he's a great pick. And like I said, Parker, Washington also could be the number one wide receiver for Jacksonville. One of the things we saw with Quentin Johnston was, you know, his success early in the year came with Joe Walt. And his route depth was higher and his A dot was higher.
Starting point is 00:42:04 And Justin Herbert's time to throw was higher. So you had an ability for Herbert to drop back, have a clean pocket, throw the ball down field. they had to adjust after their left, their right tackle, their left tackle got hurt. And they were without both their starting tackles for the year, but they had to adjust to a shorter passing game. It just didn't really suit Quinn Johnston.
Starting point is 00:42:29 I don't know if that really held true for the full season, but at least in the beginning of the non-Joe Alt experiment, it was a much shorter passing game, quicker release. And again, it was bad for everyone. Yeah, but it, amazing how he just basically completely disappeared. In fact, I did one game against the Vikings where he did not,
Starting point is 00:42:49 I don't know to get a target in the entire game, Quentin Johnson, but nobody did anything against the Vikings, right? All right, Jamie, you said we got some news coming in. The owners meetings are going on right now, and you are so mad that you're not there, first of all. Jamie did just,
Starting point is 00:43:03 I said, hey, you want to do a podcast? He's like, whatever. I should be at the owner's meetings, but whatever, Adam. You're going to bother me about it. So that's where we are. But anyway, what are we seeing on the Twitter sphere? So, you know, a lot of this is obviously coach speak.
Starting point is 00:43:17 And so anytime there's a new player added to a roster, you're going to get positive reports. And so I'm literally looking at this live as it's happening. The meetings are going on right now. The coaches are meeting with the media right now. So these are two that just came in. John Harbaugh are talking about Isaiah likely. This is what he said, quote, I think Jackson is really going to like him. He's a playmaking football player.
Starting point is 00:43:37 So, you know, somebody that they're, I'm sure, very excited about in Harbaugh, good history with his tight end. And, you know, he also was, you know, somewhat glowing about his, quarterback as well as you expect. Dan Quinn on Chig O'Conquo. I love the speed. You see it on deep overrout and ones that build up speed on play action. This is a player that should be in the sleeper conversation because, you know, he's shown at times flashes.
Starting point is 00:43:57 He's added a little bit of time last year as well. Getting a huge opportunity, assuming they don't bring back Zach Ertz. This is a receiving core that's completely decimated as we are well aware. Both Howie Roseman, I believe for sure. I'm sorry, both Harry Roseman, but Nick Siriani today, AJ Brown is an eagle. They've been repeating this mantra now for 48 hours. AJ Brown is an eagle.
Starting point is 00:44:19 AJ Brown is an eagle. I'm sure probably driving up the price as much as they possibly can. But AJ Brown is, at least as we expect, going to open the season with the Philadelphia Eagles. This one is the surprise. Hold on. I didn't interpret it that way. AJ Brown is an eagle to me. It was their way of saying, please stop asking about AJ Brown.
Starting point is 00:44:41 Right now he's an eagle. What has been reported is that if they train him. him after June 1st, the cap charges like $20 million less. So I think he's probably, this is what I was reading on ESPN yesterday, AJ Brown is probably going to be an eagle at least through the end of May. Once we get to June 1st, it becomes much less prohibitive for them to trade him. That was my interpretation. Sure.
Starting point is 00:45:06 I would imagine, though, if you're the Eagles and you want to compete for another Super Bowl ring, you want to trade him before the NFL drafts. So you get the draft picks for him now. So they love to. Yeah, I just don't know if it's, I don't know with the, with the 20 million, it is about $20 million extra. So sometimes that doesn't matter, right? Like, well, dolphins can't release Tua.
Starting point is 00:45:24 The cap hits too high, right? Sometimes they don't care. But it'd be easier for the Eagles to trade him after June 1st from a money standpoint. I'm sure that makes sense. My guess would be is that if they get offered the two first round picks that they're hoping for, one this year, one next year, or some huge package that they can't overlook or turn down. Yeah. deal with the cap it, you know, to take the draft picks.
Starting point is 00:45:48 This is the interesting one. Kellyn Moore on Alvin Camara and if he expects him to be on the roster this year. He's certainly on the roster and part of the running back room. We feel fortunate that we were able to acquire Travis, but there's a lot of work to be had. It's a great situation for us. This is one that I would like to see, you know, talking about James Connor and Trey Benson and maybe Benson moving on. I would like to see Alvin Camara move on.
Starting point is 00:46:08 You know, Heath was talking about J.K. Dobbins. I keep expecting Camara to end up in Denver and follow Sean Payton there. and then he doesn't have to worry about whatever problems RJ Harvey was creating or not, you know, things he wasn't doing last year in his rookie campaign. I'm not going to like Travis E.N. as much if Alvin Camara is still with the same. No. Yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:46:29 Or Travis H. excuse me. Travis, yeah, I don't even know who that other guy you said is. Yeah, no, I apologize. Anything else? If Camara was, no, there's lots. I mean, but it's, you know, I can't, I can't, without spending time looking through each team's beat writers. I'm sure you get to do it on one.
Starting point is 00:46:46 They're trying to make progress with George Pickens. Here's Howie Roseman on AJ Brown. He's a member of the Eagles. It seems like according to rumors, the only team really keeps asking is New England. So if there's going to be a likely trade, then that's where it comes from. Mike McDonald said Tori Horton probably won't be 100%,
Starting point is 00:47:07 but should be ready for the start, by the spring, but should be ready for the start of training camp. expectation is that Charbonnet's back at some point during the season, so that's positive at some point for him. There's a lot. We'll have a lot on Wednesday. Okay. And then there's something that the chat's been wild today.
Starting point is 00:47:23 The chat has not really been talking much about the topics. They've been really off topic. But our guy Johnny Airport, Adam eats pineapple on pizza. I do. And, well, I don't anymore, but I would. You just don't see it very often. But I want to ask you guys something, right? pineapple on pizza is great.
Starting point is 00:47:42 But, you know, look, I'm a New Yorker now. We obviously have the best pizza. South Florida is very good because it's a bunch of New Yorkers who moved down here and they do their best. My wife went to Pascualies yesterday, which is like a staple in Coral Springs, Florida, right? Like, you know, Pascualis, right? Pastquales or Pasquals? I don't know. But that place that she went to, everyone knows.
Starting point is 00:48:06 I do not know that. And I think they're the only times I have chosen. to eat in Coral Springs or when I was at a basketball tournament or when you wanted to go to lunch there. Yeah, fair enough. But she went to a place that's been around forever and she went in, she asked for a chicken roll
Starting point is 00:48:25 and they had no idea what she was talking about. Do you guys not have chicken rolls down here? Have you ever heard of a chicken roll? I don't know what a chicken is that like, no. I don't know what chicken roll would be. It's similar to a calzone, but it doesn't have a hot. I can bake that you would get at Costco?
Starting point is 00:48:45 Maybe. It's a, you know, it's a town. It's got chicken cheese and sauce. So is it like, it has chicken and red sauce inside of bread. So it's kind of like a hot pocket. Yeah, yeah, it is kind of like a hot pocket. I mean, you guys don't really have them here. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:04 Maybe she should have just ordered a hot pocket. That would have been, that would be cheaper. Yeah, it would be much cheaper. Well, probably not. Speaking of which, I do have some e-mail. about lunch. Email us at Fantasy Football at CBSI.com. Fantasy football at CBSI, that's the letter I.com.
Starting point is 00:49:18 Good time to send some emails. This is from Terry. Heath said that they get up early. Don't eat breakfast, but have lunch at 10 a.m. Is that lunch? McDonald's is still serving breakfast, as most places are. If 1145 is afternoon, when is morning? If you got up at 6 a.m. and have a burger,
Starting point is 00:49:37 is that lunch or breakfast? Is it the time or the food? I think that's a great question because a lot of times I'm eating lunch at the same time that my son is eating breakfast. And so I don't know if we are eating different meals or the same meal. It's just that's the timing. And part of it is because we are, I mean, we moved to South Florida and just totally acclimated to the fact that you eat dinner at 530. Because that's like that's a very Boker or at tone thing. And so I'm not going to eat lunch at noon and then eat.
Starting point is 00:50:09 dinner at 530, so I just eat lunch earlier. So you don't eat much between your 10 a.m. lunch and your 5.30 dinner? There's usually a little snack, but like maybe some chips or something. Okay. Sean says, sorry if I'm mistaken, but isn't Heath who vehemently disagrees with you that after 11 is not afternoon? And then he eats lunch at 10 a.m. I think people are having trouble, Heath, putting these two things together.
Starting point is 00:50:42 They seem a little contradictory. Yeah, it seems like a lot of these people must not have like breakfast for dinner. Maybe I'm having lunch for breakfast. I don't think so. Like I'm actually behind schedule today because we're doing a podcast at 10 a.m. So I'm going to have lunch in just a little bit. but if I had eaten a steak and a baked potato at 10 a.m. Is that breakfast or lunch?
Starting point is 00:51:16 That's your lunch. You're just weird. I mean, Heath is just weird. I think, forget about all the semantics. He just ruins. You can't have this conversation because he throws it off so much. But it's 11.06 a.m. right now. If you wait 24 minutes, you'll have lunch.
Starting point is 00:51:29 If you eat before that, you'll have lunch. Yeah. I guess I'm going to steak and baked potato for brunch. That is, you could really eat anything for brunch. All right, now we have a football question from Lewis. He says, first of all, how do you feel about baseball season starting this week? And I can choose my draft spot this year. Should I not overthink it and just go with first overall?
Starting point is 00:51:51 What is your ideal draft spot? Jamie, are you fired up for the 3 and 0 Florida Marlins? I have not paid attention to their record. I'm more concerned about our fantasy team. But I think right now, if I had to choose a job, draft spot right now, it would, first I would, the first question I would ask myself, do I want the chance at one of the top three receivers, more importantly, or one of the chance of the top two running backs? If I want a chance of one of the top two running backs, I'm taking two, but I want a chance
Starting point is 00:52:24 at one of the top three wide receivers, I'm taking five. Because if I get five, I get a chance that either one of those spots, most likely a receiver, but two or five would probably be my most ideal draft spots. Heath, I looked at the Marlins roster today, as I saw they were three and And Sandy Alcantra was the only player that I recognized, the only one. Stop it. I do remember that name. That's the only player you recognize? I thought it was Alcantara.
Starting point is 00:52:54 I think we used to say Alcantara, but I believe it's Alcantara, but I could be wrong. But him, I knew Griffin, Griffin Conine, like, I know Jeff. Joe Connines kid? He's got to be. Mr. Marlin. Of course Mr. Marlin's kids of Marlon. Yeah, who's their best player, Jamie? Their best player is probably injured in Jake Stowers, Stowers.
Starting point is 00:53:19 Is he related to the tight end? I mean, Xavier Edwards is fun. He's a good second baseman. Okay. My kids go out of the baby. Yeah, I've just really enjoyed the videos of this new challenge system and the specifically Salvi, but the catchers proving the empire wrong.
Starting point is 00:53:43 I saw that they're one of three teams that are perfect so far on calls, and his were close. Yeah. It was funny because, like, when the video came out of him with the challenges and all the complaints where he's so bad at framing, I guess, I don't know that he's not bad at framing, but. Interesting. No, that's really hurt his legacy as a deep teacher.
Starting point is 00:54:03 All right, last question. This is from Ted. I have a feeling he read this on the podcast on his dynasty show, but, or he will. I currently have Giovante, Breeze Hall, and Chuba Hubbard. I was just offered Travis A-chan, or E-T-N, as he used to be called, for my 20-7 first-round pick, which will probably be a mid-pick in the round. Should I give up E-T-S? Should I give up a mid-2020, well, a 20-7 first.
Starting point is 00:54:36 We don't know where it'll be for E-TN-A-Chane. So if guys, please send an emails today to FFT Dynasty at Paramount.com because I am doing a one-man mailbag tomorrow and Adam just read one of the questions I was going to ask. So I need some more questions. I would, no, I would not do that. If you think you're four through seven, then that means there's a chance you're one through three. And I wouldn't want to give up anything close to a top five, 2027 pick for Travis E.N. All right, that is going to do it for our show today. Breakouts and busts later in the week.
Starting point is 00:55:16 We will talk to you then. Thank you so much for watching listening, everybody, for Heath, Jamie, and Thomas. I am Adam. Have a great day. See you. Podcasts.
