This is Fantasy Football Today from CBS Sports.
What a play!
Can you believe this?
I had no idea.
It's time to dominate your fantasy league.
Off to the races, and he stays on his feet.
He's just going to go the distance.
Now, here's some combination of Adam, Dave, Jamie, and Heath.
What's up, everybody?
Happy Monday.
Welcome to Fantasy Football Today, presented by BetMGM,
the sportsbook born in Vegas.
The next time we are previewing a football game or recapping a football game,
it's going to be Ravens Chiefs Thursday night, week one.
We are pumped up and we are talking about everything that we noticed from the weekend,
from preseason week three.
And hello to Jamie and Heath.
How are those FFT open teams looking?
Very good.
You know, I like at this part of the process because i've drafted so much
to draft players that i haven't drafted before so i have a lot of drake london no i'm um uh first
time i've drafted devon achan on that team oh nice heath congratulations on drafting malik neighbors
drafted malik neighbors for the first time um yeah i've got uh lamar at, I've got, uh, Lamar at quarterback. I've got McCaffrey, Javante, Pollard, and Jonathan Brooks at running back.
I've got Jalen Waddle, Chris Olave, Malik neighbors, and Xavier worthy at wide receiver.
I don't have a tight end yet, but I like my team a lot.
It's I love your team, but no tight end.
So you're obviously pretty deep into the draft here.
So yeah, we're in, uh, we're at the 9-10 turn.
One of our turns goes in seven minutes,
and one of our turns takes seven days.
I'll be picking in round 10 probably on Thursday.
All right, great.
Well, I love your team.
Was that the last one to start?
No.
I think two of them haven't started yet.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
But I didn't set a clock on mine, so I shouldn't started yet. Oh, really? Yeah.
But I didn't set a clock on mine, so I shouldn't be giving anybody too hard of a time.
Fair. So yeah, anyway, we'll see how Heath's team turns out because it is only a two-receiver league.
So waiting on tight end, we shall see.
Another bad weekend for Pat Fryer.
Last week, I was like, yeah, whatever.
This week, I don't know, man.
I'll ask you guys about it in a bit.
But just not playing that much with,
uh, with Russell Wilson,
like with the starting unit.
All right.
Uh,
email of the day at fantasy football at cbsi.com from Nathan in Hamilton,
Ontario.
He says,
Hey,
Doug,
Warren,
Jeff,
and Joe,
Warren,
Jeff,
and Joe,
Doug,
Warren,
Jeff,
and Joe.
And he is from Hamilton, Ontario.
So CFL quarterback.
You got it.
So he wrote this before the news broke this morning.
Are we sleeping on Jerome Ford?
There's no guarantee that Nick Chubb comes back early or at his best form.
And yes, Jerome Ford.
I don't know if people are going to be sleeping on him anymore.
Nick Chubb is going to start the season on the pup list.
He will miss at least four games. They start
with Dallas, the Jaguars,
the Giants, and the Raiders.
So, Heath, what do we think about
Jerome Ford, who from
weeks 2 through 17
was the number 13
running back in fantasy last year.
I don't know what he was per game, but based on the fact that
he didn't miss any time, I'm going to guess he was something like
20. That's usually, it's something like that.
But number two running back, I'll just say that, Jerome Ford.
And that was with sharing with Kareem Hunt.
So to answer the question,
I don't think CBS drafters are sleeping on Jerome Ford.
I think we pretty much all expected
Nick Chubb was not going to be ready for week one.
I haven't drafted.
I almost drafted Nick Chubb for the first time this weekend.
It was round 10 and he went just before me. But I had I almost drafted Nick Chubb for the first time this weekend. It was
round 10 and he went just before me, but I had not really drafted Nick Chubb. But he's going in
round eight. Jerome Ford has around eight ADP. So I don't think CBS drafters are sleeping on him.
I've got him as around nine, 10 pick. I like pairing him up with Jonathan Brooks,
who I seem to draft in every draft now.
His ADP has fallen way too far. But yeah, he's a good first half of the season, probably flex.
I'm not even sure he's going to be an RB2. So the other part of this is, as much as we
have loved Nick Chubb, understandably so for the majority of his career,
he's always kind of had a second guy doing stuff with him. A lot of it's been Kareem Hunt, right? And so if Ford's going to be that
guy, he could still be a flex when Chubb is back. And look, this is a tough injury to come back from,
especially as an older running back. And I know, you know, 28 doesn't seem old, but it's old at
that position. So will he even be the same guy? Look, he's been a freak uh you know he could squat uh the three of us combined
um so that's uh probably more than three of us right because adam's like 50 pounds um yeah so
he's uh he's got the opportunity hopefully to come back you know when when the four weeks is up if
he's ready to be the guy for the browns but what if he's not you know so you know if you tell me
that in round nine i'm getting a top 20 running back i'm taking that all day right would you take uh jerome ford or devin
singletary singletary but they're essentially back to back yeah it's it's singletary i kind of think
they're the same guy it's just that there's a better chance Singletary could do it all year. Right.
By the way, for Nick Chubb, it's not just an ACL injury.
It's ACL, MCL, medial capsule, and meniscus.
Multiple surgeries for him.
It is a tough thing to have to recover from.
He's going to miss at least four games.
And the thing about Ford, he was the number 13 running back in fantasy last year.
And the split with Kareem Hunt, it was not exactly even.
But, I mean, Kareem Hunt had a lot of carries.
So is that Deontay Foreman now?
Is it a bigger share for Jerome Ford while Kareem Hunt is out than what we saw last year?
And in the game this week, Deshaun Watson didn't play, but a lot of the starters played.
A number of them played.
And he did not come off the field.
Pierre Strong did not play.
But he did not come off the field on third and long.
So that was encouraging, too. I don't know how you guys feel about what the split will be there well foreman got hurt off so he's dealing with a rib injury so you know you have multiple
guys that are banged up right now in in this browns backfield i don't think that pierce strong
is taking him off the field for significant stretches so i i think as long as foreman is
banged up and we know he had the the scare with or whatever it was, neck, when he had to be taken to the hospital.
I look at it right now,
like it's Jerome Ford is as close to a featured guy for the Browns for the
first four weeks as we could see. So again, I, you know,
draft him with the idea of being a flex. I love Heath's pairing, you know,
and I was, I was doing a live draft last week, and somebody was joking.
He goes, I got a good article for you.
Take Nick Chubb and Jerome Ford.
That's how you win.
And I said to him, I was like, I appreciate that advice.
We have never heard that before.
But the right thing to do is try to get two pieces of a backfield,
and you can do that.
It's almost like Ford passes the torch to Brooks when he's ready to go, and then you backfield and you can do that. You know, the minute it's almost like, you know,
Ford passes the torch to Brooks when he's ready to go.
And then you have the starter for the Panthers.
But what if, you know, Nick Chubb's not ready?
And then you have the two guys for two backfields.
While they're not the best backfields, there's still plenty of opportunity there.
Certainly Brown's better than the Panthers,
but certainly plenty of opportunity there to help yourself.
So yeah, to get Jerome Ford at that price to me is is fantastic he's he's a
great zero or hero rb target heath when's the earliest you would select uh nick chubb round 10
jamie uh round eight for chubb yeah on eight okay all right um I do have to send an apology out to our audience.
This is a family show, and I pride ourselves on that.
Oh, here we go.
A couple things from Friday that were overheard was two different shows,
and this is what it sounded like.
And I'm a weird, weird guy when it comes to the things I do with my hands.
This is the conversation that you have to have if you're into handcuffs.
Yeah.
So I don't know what happened there,
but just a moment,
a little lapse from us.
So I apologize.
You know what's funny is,
uh,
up until this moment,
I was team Adam in the tennis match.
Oh no.
Like,
you know,
I had signs made.
I was going to send them to,
uh,
to the court.
You know,
I had a plane flying over with a,
with a banner.
Go Adam,
go. When is the match? Tomorrow. Tomorrow. Tomorrow is, well, where is it going to be? to the court. I had a plane flying over with a banner, Go Adam, Go.
When is the match?
Tomorrow.
Tomorrow.
Where is it going to be?
Where can I watch?
I don't think we're going to be able to live stream it.
I don't even know how we would do that.
I was doing the Lawrence Taylor.
I was sending things to Adams, to Dan's house.
Oh, nice.
To distract him.
What kind of things?
You know, things Lawrence Taylor would say.
Yeah, yeah.
We're a family show.
I can't say it.
It would be very easy, like, if you only knew a teenager.
To live stream?
Yeah.
I don't really know a teenager.
Set your phone up.
Go live on any social media place you would like to.
Yeah, I think that's doable.
I'll work on it. I'll work on it.
I'll work on it.
All right, listen.
It sounds like he's afraid.
It does sound like he's probably going to beat me,
but he's a little afraid.
No, no, no.
You sound afraid to show it.
No, I'm not.
I have really nothing to lose.
And Dan has become a villain.
He is so cocky.
I've got a lot of feedback like,
boy, you need to shut him up.
He's become a villain and I'm loving it.
But anyway, I have a trivia question for you. Do you know what this
number is?
5,361.
Of course you don't, but I'll
tell you. It's how much money we raised
for the Podcast League for St. Jude.
Those six spots, they sold for $5,361
total. Podcast League
draft is tonight. Thank you very much. Biggest
winner. Biggest winner. We'll take
the sixth spot, please. The sixth spot for Jamieie okay great uh biggest winners heath uh who stood out this
weekend you could also take the approach of these are my training camp long winners and losers if
you'd like to do that but highlight a winner or two for me yeah i did it from the perspective of
my biggest risers and fallers of the preseason. I didn't.
Maybe there will be some observations that I'm missing from this weekend,
but I haven't made a whole lot of major earth-shattering changes in the last few days.
My biggest riser from the off-seasons is Rishi Rice.
And I got a little bit nervous when the Zay Jones suspension got announced
because I was like, oh, it's not too close to the season to announce those.
But now we're what, nine days away from the start of the season.
And yes, the Chiefs are, it does sound like, bringing Juju back.
I think that's just insurance and very good insurance for Rice.
But he's dominated playing time with Patrick Mahomes.
He was a 25% target share guy after the Chiefs' bye last week.
I think there's a really good chance he leads this team in targets,
catches yards, and receiving touchdowns,
and finishes as a top 12 wide receiver.
He's inside of my top 20 now.
He was outside of my top 30 back in July.
Point of clarification, he's inside your top 20 at wide receiver.
Correct.
He is inside the third round in drafts.
Let me ask this, Adam, because I know this is not something you like,
but I don't know if you'd be opposed to the build.
So two receiver league in a flex.
Father-son draft with my 12-year-old.
He started three receivers in a row.
My child,
um,
Jefferson Harrison and London were his first three picks.
Jefferson Harrison.
Okay.
Then he took Ken Walker in the fourth round.
Ooh.
Yeah.
McBride in the fifth round.
Ooh,
nice.
And then took a player.
He cannot start in Rashi Rice in the sixth round.
Yeah, that's fine.
Come on.
He's playing against, like, 10-year-olds.
His father's a fantasy football analyst.
He can navigate.
He'll be fine.
No, no, they're 8-year-olds, but sure.
Yeah, that's good.
And how many best ball drafts does your 8-year-old have tonight, by the way?
Is he really all in?
It's my 12-year-old.
My 6-year-old, however, has 20 best ball drafts does your eight-year-old have tonight by the way is he really he's all in it's my 12 year old um my six-year-old however has 20 uh best ball drafts i didn't do one over the weekend i'm having withdrawals oh no all right rishi rice a big winner for he big riser jamie
how about you uh rice was a big riser i went also with the pre-season approach um trying to think
of like a big riser i'll give you one from the weekend too. Jawan Johnson.
I was excited about Jawan Johnson when the first run of our rankings happened at the end of last year, January.
And then he had the surgery, goes on the pup list,
got off the pup list this week.
He's now a top 15 tight end for me.
The system is going to be great for him.
You know, we're always looking for tight ends that could be first
or second on the team and targets.
I don't think he'll be first, but I do think he'll be second. Yeah to be great for him. You know, we're always looking for tight ends that could be first or second on the team and targets.
I don't think he'll be first, but I do think he'll be second.
Yeah.
If things go right, you know, um, Rashid Shaheed's banged up right now.
Uh, obviously Kamara is going to be in that conversation, but there's, there's no guaranteed number two guy there.
And the, the Kubiak offense, I think will feature him quite a bit.
He's, he's an athletic guy, uh, the season strong, three of his last four games,
just shy of 12 PPR points per game. Had three games last year where he had seven targets. He
was at 14 PPR points per game in those three games. So if he's getting five to seven targets
per game, which I think is realistic, he could be a fun tight end to roster if you're taking
somebody late. Question from the chat, Jawan Johnson or Cole commit Johnson for me.
Cole commit scares me with the Gerald Everett usage and all the other
targets in Chicago.
Okay.
Some players I want to focus on today,
just from the weekend Steelers,
obviously,
you know,
looking a little bit more competent,
competent Russell Wilson.
It seems like they haven't said anything,
but it really seems like he's going to be the starter there.
Probably should talk about the Panthers and Bryce young.
I don't know that we had any games with starters versus starters this week, but it really seems like he's going to be the starter there. Probably should talk about the Panthers and Bryce Young.
I don't know that we had any games with starters versus starters this week,
at least Saturday and Sunday.
None that I can think of.
We had starters, but they were playing against the backups.
Jacksonville was no against backups.
Yeah, Jacksonville we could talk about.
Evan Ingram had two touchdowns.
But I definitely want to talk about Tank Bigsby and his role.
I'll get to that in a minute.
Chuba Hubbard and his role. Just some snap count stuff with the Patriots wide receivers and things like that. We have a Jacoby Brissett injury that we have an update on.
But if you haven't signed up for BetMGM, let's talk about that real quick. Now's the time,

We'll be right back on Fantasy Football today with losers from the weekend and much more.
Did you know that across Ontario, utility damage happens 19 times a day? That's over 4,222
incidents a year. Don't let your next dig be one that causes costly delays or safety risks.
Before you break ground, make it a point
to request a locate. It's not just the law. It's a step to keep your team and community safe. Visit
OntarioOneCall.ca and avoid unnecessary damages to get the job done right. Data sourced from the
ORCGA 2023 Dirt Report. In a little bit, I'm going to tell everybody about our draft-a-thon show, which should be great, on Wednesday.
But before we do that, Jamie, who are some big losers,
either from the weekend or from training camp the last month or so?
Big losers?
Yeah.
I wouldn't call them losers.
I would call them guys that have fallen in my rankings.
Michael Pittman's one.
Just concerned a little bit about what his...
He's going to be the number one guy there, clearly,
but is he going to dominate targets like he did with Mitchell
and his role and Josh Downs once he comes back?
Obviously, what we saw was mostly with Minshew
as opposed to Anthony Richardson.
He's outside my top 24.
Ayuk has fallen just because I'm concerned about his holdout situation and the lack of targets, you know, he's going to be efficient.
He's going to be fine, but this was a guy that was, you know, borderline top 15 guy for me. Now
he's, uh, 21 or 22 in that range. Um, Marquise Brown obviously has fallen just because of the,
the shoulder injury, Jalen Warren,
because of the hamstring injury,
uh,
Jameer gets fell a few spots just in overall rankings,
but I,
I moved him back up this weekend with the reports of him getting back to
work and the video that circulated of him practicing pregame with
Jared Goff.
I don't know.
Did you see the news that Jalen Warren said he would have played if it
were a regular season game?
Uh,
yeah.
Uh, but I was, I was probably a little too aggressive with Jalen Warren.
He was 25 for me, so I dropped him into that next blob of guys.
Understanding
how I feel about soft tissue injuries, I'm still concerned.
There's a few guys that fell.
Heath, how about you?
I don't think I got a chance to ask you about the Colts passing game after not such a great showing on Thursday night,
and Michael Pittman, just in that obviously limited time,
didn't really have a big target share or anything.
They seemed to spread the ball around.
You were the high guy on him.
Are you still feeling optimistic about Pittman?
Yeah, there wasn't anything that happened Thursday night
that really made me nervous.
There's going to be some good, and there's going to be some bad.
The bad's probably going to be really bad,
but I think he's still going to completely dominate targets.
I think he's still close to 10 targets per game.
I expect him to have better efficiency and a better touchdown rate.
I've dropped him a couple of spots, but I'm definitely still the high guy,
still a top 20 wide receiver for me.
And I will say, I didn't drop him because of Thursday.
This was several weeks ago.
Pittman or Neighbors?
I actually took Neighbors over Pittman.
The only place I took Neighbors in the FFT Open,
and I'm just going to count every week and be so irritated
because see how many
points that I lose on a weekly basis. But yes, it's Pittman for me. Uh, neighbors for me. He
should outscore Pittman. All right. Uh, Heath, any losers you want to highlight or fallers?
I mean, you wanted to talk about them. So I think we should just talk about them like Pat
Fryer moves and even I've dropped George Pickens a little bit. I know the Steelers looked better
against the lions backups, but I think that offensive line is just awful.
And I hate the fact that it's a three-man rotation at tight end with the first team.
And so I was kind of like feeling fine with Pat Fryermuth
as my settle four guy in the double-digit rounds.
The last couple of drafts, I've moved more towards Dalton Schultz in that regard.
Yeah, I just don't get it with Fryermuth
why he's not playing more,
and maybe he will in the regular season,
but he just, yeah, he's like
not even playing the most snaps of the tight ends.
He played two snaps with Russell Wilson.
There's only five snaps with Wilson,
but Darnell Washington played four of them,
and Pat Fryermuth played two,
and Michael Pruitt played two. Well, and it may be that they need to play Darnell Washington played four of them and Pat Fryer Muth played two and Michael Pruitt played two.
Well, and it may be that they need to play Darnell Washington more because
they need a third tackle because the other tackles don't block anybody.
Maybe.
And maybe they just want to see what he has and they don't need to see from
Fryer Muth.
And when the regular season comes, things will change,
but it hasn't been good.
Pickens though.
That was Arthur Smith though in Atlanta.
Remember, look, they're going to throw to their tight ends, you know,
but it's not necessarily the guy that we want getting all the targets.
You know, 34% of the targets went to the tight ends last year in Atlanta.
That wasn't just Kyle Pitts, unfortunately.
It was Kyle Pitts and Johnnie Smith.
And so we all thought, okay, none of these guys profile like Friar Moose does,
who should be the best pass-catching tight end, but
he said it right.
Washington is basically a tackle.
He's not going to be a pass-catching threat.
So if they feel comfortable with their
crappy receiving core behind George
Pickens, go ahead and don't put Frymuth
on the field. It just doesn't make any sense.
Pickens, though, he's still going.
He's wide receiver 28 in CBS.
He's going 62nd overall. In NFC drafts over the last four days, he's still going. He's wide receiver 28 in CBS. He's going 62nd overall.
In NFC drafts over the last four days, that's 89 drafts.
George Pickens is wide receiver 29.
He's going 50th overall.
But they're very, yeah.
I know it's very little, but just watch him.
Every catch he's making, he's doing something after the catch.
His ADOT's still been pretty high,
and he's got like six yards per catch six yak per catch um i don't know he's he looks great to me
that's it but i had him like wide receiver 14 okay okay okay so what do you have him now i think the
the adp for pickens is still with the holy cow what if brandon i get traded there yeah yeah
you're gonna get a very good bargain. I don't care how bad
the quarterback situation is
or the offensive line is. You're going to get a great bargain
on Pickens. It's a very similar
conversation to
on a sliding scale of Justin Jefferson
with a bad quarterback, of Malik Nabors with a bad
quarterback, of George Pickens with a bad quarterback. Are they going to
get optimal production because their quarterback
play is bad? No. Are they still
going to be very good? Yes.
Yeah.
All right, guys.
I have five not-so-big questions.
They're big-ish, but they're not huge.
Who is Christian McCaffrey's handcuff?
Yes.
Who was healthy that week?
It's like, do you think they would split carries if Mitchell and Mason?
Because Jordan Mason's had a nice preseason.
Mitchell's been hurt.
Now he's back.
But if Christian McCaffrey got hurt, what do you think?
I think whoever Kyle Shanahan liked better in practice that week
would probably see 18 to 20 touches.
I wouldn't anticipate a split.
Mitchell, even when he was a rookie and had that great season,
he wasn't involved in the passing game.
And so I would guess that they're going to use both guys.
The nice thing is, if it's not just strictly injury-related,
if they were resting their key guys, they rested Mitchell also.
Who is the Kansas City Chiefs' number two running back?
Pete Sweeney of Arrowhead Pride wrote that he thinks
Isaiah Pacheco could be
a three down back,
but he also thinks that Carson Steele
could become the goal line
running back.
And Carson Steele runs
like a goal line running back
like you'd want him to run.
But Heath, your take on the Chiefs
backfield behind Pacheco.
I don't think we really know
where Clyde Edwards-Solaire is.
And I hope that he gets everything.
He's okay. the broadcast still indicated that it was that Steele and Prince were battling for the RB3 job, and Clyde was the RB2.
I've drafted all three of those guys late in drafts. I don't really believe that Carson Steele is going to be scoring more than four or five touchdowns this year, but I bet he scores a few.
Question number three.
Are you concerned that Tank Bigsby will be the goal line running back?
I ask this because during the game, Travis Etienne completely crushed him in terms of snap count.
But there was a sequence of second down and one, third down and one, fourth down and one.
And Bigsby was on the field for all three of those plays.
And he got two carries.
He did not convert on third and one.
He did convert on fourth and one.
They also had a couple of goal-to-go situations.
And Etienne was in, but it was not inside the five-yard line.
So what's your level of concern that Bigsby would be the goal line running back, Jamie?
I don't have a high level of concern.
It could certainly happen.
But, you know, I think the nice thing is, is that Bigsby was challenged this offseason to look better and play better and perform better, and he's done it.
And so now you know who the handcuff is for Etienne.
You know, so if you're inclined to take a late flyer on somebody, he's not a bad late
round pick, you know? So in the Braylon Allen, Ray Davis,
Audrick estimate group of running backs, you know,
Bigsby might be the best of the bunch.
So not a bad late round flyer.
I don't think necessarily him, if he's taking some goal line opportunities,
I don't think it makes you, it should make you worried about Etienne at all.
Etienne only had nine carries inside the five all of last year,
which is like 24th in the NFL.
So he didn't really have a lot of those anyway.
They didn't really,
I feel like he had a lot of long touchdowns,
but he probably had almost all of their carries
inside the five.
Do you have that?
I mean, he had seven touchdowns inside the 20.
Yeah.
So it wasn't big plays, but yeah.
Well, I hope it doesn't happen because it would piss me off if if etn law let me see etn had uh in terms of inside the five yard line he had only
60 of their carries inside the five yard line uh he had nine who else for jackson probably trevor
lawrence yeah lawrence at lawrence had. Anyway, Bigsby had two.
Next question.
Number four. Five not-so-big questions.
Number four. Do you feel better about the Steelers now
than you did a week ago
when they looked absolutely horrible?
I mean, I'll go back to what I said earlier
last week, that last year they had
an amazing preseason,
and they looked like poop.
This year they're having a poopy preseason.
Hopefully they'll look great. I mean, look, Russell Wilson has not been out there. That's
a big part of this. You know, Justin Fields is not going to, I think, run an aesthetically pretty
offense nine times out of 10. That's not what his appeal is. His appeal is being a wild card
and making plays. Do you want him to do things on schedule and, and, and throw receivers and
rhythm more often? Sure. Absolutely. But that's just not, I think, the way that he's going to operate
behind a suspect offensive line.
So Wilson will probably have a lot of similar scenarios unfold for him.
But if you are, again, if you tell me George Pickens is the 29th receiver
based on ADP, I will take that all day long.
And I still think Fryermuth is going to have some great moments.
I still think that the running backs are going to be borderline starters.
And that's really what we're talking about here is if, you know, I know Heath is is was high on Russell.
I don't know if you still are as a late round dart throw and a one quarterback.
We clearly he's an option in two quarterback leagues. I was never in that camp.
So it wasn't going to change anything for me regardless of who was playing quarterback aside from fields maybe being one of these difference making type
of guys because of his legs so russell wilson was never really a factor for me on his own it was can
he support these guys i think he can't all right yeah i mean i'd moved them down a little after
last week i didn't move them back up today so i guess no like the lions weren't playing anybody
right yeah it was kind of like the Giants
in the second quarter against the Texans.
What do you take from that?
Probably shouldn't take much, but it was nice
to see them look competent at least.
I'll throw in another bonus question
here from the chat from Jerry. Is Luke
McCaffrey the number two receiver for
Washington now?
There was a report that was said before the trade
he was having a hard time getting into the top four.
Yeah.
I read something this,
this weekend that,
uh,
I,
I didn't realize he was still at Jameson Crowder is still an option for
them as,
as a slot receiver,
Pierre Garcon.
Um,
and,
uh,
Zacchaeus is somebody that they may use in the slot.
I do think, though, that we're looking at Diami Brown
as one of these uninspiring late-round picks that you can get away with
that will get you maybe a touchdown every four or five weeks.
And as we saw, I mean, look, we were raving about Jane Daniels
in his first preseason game.
We didn't say one thing about, that pass went to Diami Brown.
You know, like that. He was the one that made the play. And there's, you know, whenever we see things like this,
you know, trades that happen for players that we weren't expecting to get moved. Now,
not nobody was expecting Jahan Dotson to be a difference maker, but we thought he was going
to be a big part of this passing attack. You know, does that mean it's Brown? It's McCaffrey.
It's more too tight end sets because of the talent that they may have there
in Zach Ertz and an established veteran or Benson.
There's a lot of things that you can look at here.
But I think if you're taking a late-round flyer for upside, it's McCaffrey.
If you're taking a late-round flyer in a deep league that you need somebody,
like we have a 14-team draft tonight.
It wouldn't surprise me if somebody takes a shot on one of those two guys, depending
on which knee on your roster. I would take McCaffrey
first with the hope that he becomes something end of season, but
Brown could be an early week type of guy.
Here's the PPR
per game finish
in five seasons for Terry McLaurin.
Let's talk about this. This guy
can get you 130 targets,
but he's been over 132 targets.
He's been on pace for more than 132 targets only once.
And that was his second season.
But per game, he's finished 29th.
No, sorry, that's overall.
Yeah, okay, 29th, 20th.
That was the one year he was on pace for 152 targets.
33rd, 25th, and 39th.
So that's only two top 25 finishes,
never higher than wide receiver 20 per game for Terry McLaurin.
But I don't know.
I mean, I've never been a McLaurin guy, really.
I feel like I'm getting there.
He goes later now than he's ever gone, really,
since his rookie year, I'm guessing.
And I'm hoping that the 130 targets are better
because they're from a better quarterback.
And now I'm starting to hope that he's going to get more than 130 targets.
What do we think he pushed back on that?
I have a hard,
like,
I think it's possible that Washington's just pretty run heavy.
Um,
I think 130 targets is probably about right.
He feels like a very sad.
What did we say the other day,
Jamie?
Um,
we were having a chat with Gibbs about all the guys that our rankings are way different and i said he's just that wide receiver three that i
don't ever think about i like if you tell me i'm a little too high on him okay you tell me i'm a
little too low on him okay he's just like he belongs around wide receiver 30 he'll probably
finish somewhere between 24 and 36 and i don't think i've drafted him yet but i'd be fine with
it if he was the top guy on my board there for me, it's, uh, I'll say three or four guys that I feel in that range that are all not necessarily
huge range of outcomes, but you know, you, you could see a potential great season or just kind
of, uh, like he said, you know, like, okay, he, he finished around wide receiver 30 for me,
those guys are McLaurin, Amari Cooper this year,
just because I think he's going to take a little bit of a step back.
Zay Flowers, just because of the return of Mark Andrews and Calvin Ridley,
just because I really, I honestly don't know what to make of how this Titans
passing game is going to look.
I thought he looked very good this weekend, but no DeAndre Hopkins.
So we'll see how things go there.
But those four guys, like, I think they're all very safe wide receiver, three options that are in that blob
for me of 20 through 32. And I would be very happy to get any one of them as, as a third or most
likely fourth receiver for me. But, um, the thing about McLaurin and, you know, going back to this
after the trade, it feels like a early Kyler Murray type of offense for Cliff Kingsbury.
One receiver that you can trust,
and then just a bunch of guys.
That was Kyler's offense, right?
Yeah, and some tight end in there.
But that's what this is.
He's going to make a lot of plays.
Dane Daniels.
I think you're right.
130 targets is probably a good number to,
to peg from a corn because that's going to be the guy he leans on the most.
And then the other guys will just have some weeks here and there where it's
like,
okay,
this is the time to pick them up on waivers.
Now he's getting dropped.
Now pick them up again.
Now he's getting dropped,
you know?
So that's what I think it'll be with McCaffrey and,
and with, uh, with Brown, but somebody somebody's gonna step up there and make place i just think mcclaren
mcclaren's a very safe option for you i just don't think you want to go aggressively targeting
and i'd like of that group like zay flowers and mcclaren very much tied together for me
in terms of ranking i think i kind of feel the same about dionte um he's probably gonna get 130
targets yes um probably gonna finish as a wide receiver three yeah but so but but i feel like
the dionte's targets probably be closer to i don't know i mean last year he was a higher
adot guy mclaurin is more of a downfield guy so i don't know would you rather have 130 targets
more downfield or 130 targets more closer to the line of scrimmage? We don't have to answer that question.
McLaurin has much more upside.
But yes, they're similar type of fantasy guys.
They're not necessarily similar type of players.
You're going to get weeks where they're 10 to 12 points without scoring.
And you're going to get weeks where they're 17, 18 points when they find the end zone.
It's really been the last two seasons their ADOT's been pretty similar.
Two seasons, okay.
Yeah, here's the last thing I'll say about McLaurin.
Since entering the league, he's 10th in the NFL in targets.
He's 31st in red zone targets.
I would just love to see that change.
He just doesn't have a big enough role there.
I don't know how much.
I don't really want to count on the potential thousand yard rusher rookie quarterback
being the guy that leads me to a good touchdown season finally for Terry McCorn yeah fair you
just hope that they can he's had such bad deep ball accuracy from his quarterbacks they've been
terrible in Washington and that's something that Jane Daniels is pretty damn good at in college so
you're hoping maybe a couple of those a few few of those. Last question. I'm going to have
chicken salad for lunch. Should I have it on
wheat bread or
a cinnamon raisin bagel?
Please don't
do the cinnamon raisin bagel.
Just
put it in a bowl
with a fork. Oh, God. Are you kidding me?
No. God, that's boring. You are boring.
No?
You said Zay Flowers
and Terry McLaurin tied together.
Do you think you would beat them
if they were in a three-legged race
versus you with two legs?
How
long do they get to practice?
20 minutes before the
event. No. If it's the first time
they've ever been tied together and they're doing
the race,
like they've never done a three legged race.
I think I've got a chance,
but if they've,
if they've had any warmup time to practice at all,
and like they got their steps down,
I'm in trouble.
Cause the corn is quite a bit taller than flowers.
Right?
So there's probably a leg difference there.
That's good for you.
Um,
40 or like a hundred yard,
like a 40,
I'd say.
I think it's going to win easy.
Yeah. That's yeah. You're over it. They, he's going to win easy. Yeah, you're overreacting.
They got to get going a little bit.
Their start time is going to be terrible.
Heath is going to be off the line before they even get moving.
They suck at three-legged races.
I'll tell you that.
A funny story, thinking about leg length.
Lucas is almost taller than me, and he thought that he was
because we were standing next to each other in front of a mirror, and his shoulders were higher than me. And he thought that he was because we were standing next to each other in front of a mirror and his shoulders were higher than mine.
So my wife says, okay, turn around back to, you know, back to back.
We got to see for sure who's taller.
His butt is higher than mine.
His shoulders are higher than mine, but my extremely long forehead, I've still got about a quarter of an inch on him at the, at the top.
So thank goodness for a
long forehead. That's great. All right. Uh, we can make jokes about Heath having a big head now.
All right. Drafts is on Wednesday, four to 6.00 PM. Eastern Wednesday, four to 6.00 PM. Eastern,
put it on your calendar, go to youtube.com slash fantasy football today. This is the culmination
of all of our drafts on efforts. We're really having a great year. I think we're over 50K now.
We got more to come.
And you still can go to our tinyurl.com
slash Draftathon 2024 page and donate there.
But the Draftathon show,
which is going to be two hours
with Robert Turbin's going to be on,
Katie Mock's going to be on.
Am I allowed to say who's opening the show?
I feel like I am, right?
I don't know.
I should have asked.
Didn't you already get sued once?
He works for us.
Like, I don't know.
Do you want people to watch?
Matt Ryan is coming on the show
to start.
There you go.
Matt Ryan will be on the show.
And then, obviously,
Dave Jamie Heath,
Jake Seeley,
Ben Gretsch,
Nando, Scott Fish.
Matt Ryan is going to be on the show, and then Dave Damien.
So we'll see you
at 4 to 6 p.m. Eastern,
youtube.com slash fantasyfootballtoday on Wednesday.
We have actually a lot more
to get to, including more risers and
fallers, more thoughts from the weekend.
We'll be right back on Fantasy Football Today.
We'd like to extend our
condolences to everyone who
family, friends,
teammates, everyone who knew the head coach or the offensive line coach, excuse me, for the
Baltimore Ravens, Joe DeAlessandris passing away at the age of 70. Sorry to see it. Terrible news
and thoughts with his family. In terms of the other big storyline around fantasy football,
it's these wide receivers who haven't signed yet. And Jerry Jones said he had no update on CD lamb,
but there was a report that they might be getting close.
Jamar chase practice with the team for the first time in training camp and Brandon, I, you still could get traded. Washington is, is a rumor now. Um,
Ricky Pearsall is going to practice today, but all right,
it is now August 26th. How far are we downgrading lamb chase and Iuke?
Why would you be downgrading Chase if he practiced?
Because he did.
He just moved him back up.
Okay.
Okay, fair.
But I don't think it was like a full team practice.
I think it was...
He's ready to go.
All right.
So now is he ahead of CeeDee Lamb?
Not for me yet.
Thursday.
Thursday's the day. Sheursday i'll move like i've got lamb down to i think the fifth pick now behind the three running backs and tyreek jamar chase is
seventh um iuke is like i don't ever get iuke he's like a round four pick for me. My FFT open team, I have Debo and Kittle,
which I would never ever do if I, you, this were not happening,
but there's still the possibility of him not playing.
I've been struggling with this, like whether,
what I wanted to happen with Brandon Ayuk.
I appreciate you giving me a rooting interest.
Resign, resign Brandon Ayuk.
But even like, I don't know.
I just, I have bad vibes about this whole situation.
So have you become higher on Debo Samuel throughout this process?
I'm assuming heck yeah.
I mean, yes.
You know, it's hard to, you know, this is one of these,
do you buy into coach speak or not?
And how much of that is valid?
Like all you've heard is glowing reports about Debo Samuel.
Now, how much of that is
because iuk's not there and we don't need you conversation which i don't think is the case but
you never know um but i also think you should put some context into your taking that you're trying
to win a very big league i'm not really trying to win the whole thing i'm just trying to win my
12 team league not get embarrassed no i'm trying to look even if i weren't trying to win this
tournament of 144 people,
and notice how I said tournament, I still would have done it.
I still would have taken Debo and Kittle.
You were hemming and hawing.
You called me and asked me about this.
Well, because who did I want?
I forget.
Cooper, maybe?
I don't know.
Yeah, I was hemming and hawing.
But it wasn't so I could win a tournament.
Anyway.
But that's the goal.
My goal, I want to win the 12-team league.
It's only 12.
It's not a 3,000-person tournament.
It's a 12-team tournament.
Right, but you get the 49ers.
What if I use hurt by the time you get to the playoffs?
What if Debo's hurt?
Well, that's the thing.
If Debo's hurt, then Kittle, bam.
Okay, anyway, as I mentioned earlier, Jalen Warren said he could have played this weekend
if it had been a regular season game Daniel Popper of the athletic covers
the Chargers he thinks Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins will be co-feature backs with Kamani
Vidal as RB3 real quick give me a name who do you draft first Gus or Dobbins Gus Gus but I don't
I haven't drafted either of them really very much. And I kind of would like...
It's such a good situation for a running back,
but, man, it all feels so gross.
Popper also thinks that Donald Parham could be cut
because he isn't a good enough blocker.
And he is a good receiver, though.
So if Donald Parham gets cut by the Chargers
and ends up in a spot where he might get some targets...
You've been trying to make Donald Parham a thing.
By the way, why don't you play your D-D-D-D-D-D-D Parham?
Why?
He's not a man.
Hey, man, Parham.
Parman.
I do think earning targets is one of the primary responsibilities
of a good receiver.
Well, yeah, I'm just saying he probably hasn't played that much
because he's not that good of a blocker, but he's a good receiver.
All right, anyway, Paul Daner, Jr. of The Athletic,
believes Andre Yoshivas will be Cincinnati's number three wide receiver.
Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett hurt his shoulder.
They have downplayed it, but we will see.
Drake May, good moments and bad moments last night,
made a tremendous throw for a 48-yard touchdown.
It was called back on an illegal formation.
Sean Watson did not play.
What's that?
Play the kid.
No, don't play the kid.
He's not ready.
What do you mean?
I don't know if he's ready.
He might be ready,
but he scored seven points against Washington backups.
It's not like he tore it up.
They stalled.
Oh, I'm sorry.
How many did Brissette score?
Played one possession.
All right. It was preseason. I know. Todd Archer. Oh, I'm sorry. How many did Brissette score? Played one possession. All right.
I know.
Oh, how about this? Todd Archer covers
the Cowboys. Said the Cowboys have to find a way
to get Deuce Vaughn some touches because
Deuce Vaughn has some juice that
the other running backs don't have.
We've reached the level of concern with
the Cowboys running backs that Deuce Vaughn is a
different thing. Dallas cornerback
Deron Bland out six to eight weeks
with a stress fracture in his left foot.
He had five pick sixes in 2023.
Miami left guard Isaiah Wynn
and edge Bradley Chubb
will start the season on the pup list.
Your level of concern on a scale of zero to 10
about the Dolphins offensive line?
Three. Four. Three. Okay. uh three four okay three okay arizona wide receivers a jones suspended five
games for violating the personal conduct policy does this matter
no starting offensive tackle jack conklin for the browns is off the pupless. That's great news.
Yep.
Rams left tackle Aleric Jackson suspended two games for violating the personal conduct policy.
They start at Detroit and at Arizona.
They will not have their left tackle, the Rams.
San Francisco defensive ends Leonard Floyd and Yeter Grosmatos left with knee injuries.
I think it's Yeter.
Yeter?
I'm not taking pronunciation tips from you, but fair enough.
I don't know how to pronounce that one.
Rams have granted linebacker Ernest Jones permission to seek a trade.
This guy had 145 tackles for them last year.
This is a big deal, and he's unhappy.
And Detroit defensive tackle DJ Reader's off the pup list.
Let's go to more risers and fallers.
This is a list Jamie gave me.
I'm going to say a name.
You give me 10 seconds on them.
There are a lot of guys here,
and then we can come back
and talk about whoever
you want to talk about.
Kyler Murray is a riser for Jamie.
Top six quarterback.
Love that he's healthy.
Love his receiving core.
Expect a big year.
Jaden Daniels.
Love his ability to run the ball.
I think he's going to have a chance
to be the best rookie run,
best running quarterback
based on yardage.
And he's top eight for you.
What is he?
Nine.
Nine.
Okay.
So Kyler and Daniels are risers for you.
Daniels and also a riser for Heath.
Back.
Why don't we go to another quarterback riser for Heath?
It's Caleb Williams.
Yeah.
Just a reminder that upside over everything in one quarterback leagues has
Roma doing days look great DJ Morris looked great um and Williams does really special things just
draft another guy with him he's QB 11 for Heath he's QB 12 for Jamie that's Jaden Dan that's
Caleb Williams part of me Jaden Daniels is QB 9 for Jamie and QB 10 for Heath and QB 10 for Dave
all right running back risers.
Jamie, you have David Montgomery as a riser.
10 seconds.
Still a little concerned about Jameer Gibbs' hamstring injury,
and just a reminder that if something happens to Gibbs,
Montgomery could be a top 10 running back.
Montgomery or James Conner?
Montgomery for me.
Heath?
Yep.
All right.
Tony Pollard, a riser for Jamie.
Continues to look very good.
And hopefully, you know, like he said,
got healthy at the end of last season
and carries over to this year.
Still think Tajay Spears is going to have a role,
but Pollard is my preferred Titans running back.
Pollard now my second most drafted running back this year.
Tony Pollard or Najee Harris?
Pollard.
Tony Pollard or James Conner?
Pollard. Oh, okay. James Conner? Pollard.
Oh, okay.
That's definitely different
from ADP.
I can tell you a little bit
about what happened
with the Titans running backs
in a bit
if you're curious
for those of you
who didn't see it
over the weekend.
Javante Williams
is a riser for both of you.
Heath, 10 seconds on Javante.
Reports of his demise
were greatly exaggerated.
He is the RV1
for the Broncos,
probably looking at 15 touches per game.
Wouldn't be surprised if he catches 60 passes.
Ken Walker is a riser for you, Heath.
Yes.
The Seattle Seahawks staff can't stop saying nice things about him.
Zach Charbonnet can't get on the field for very many practices.
I think Walker could be a feature back.
Walker now is closer to the
top 12 than he is to the top
15. Yep.
He is 15th for Jamie, but
I know what you mean. He's closer tier-wise.
He's 13th for
Heath and Ken Walker's 14th for Dave.
So you guys have him
back-to-back with A-Chan. Jamie has
A-Chan one spot ahead. Heath has Walker one spot
ahead. Jacobs, Walker one spot ahead.
Uh,
Jacobs though is ahead of him,
right?
Yes.
Okay.
Jacob's over.
I'm going to move Walker up ahead of a Chan and probably Derek Henry.
Yes.
Welcome to the club.
Bienvenido a la club.
Clube.
Uh,
Jamie Rico Dowdle riser.
Well, despite the deuce Vaughn, uh, headlines Dowdle, riser. Well, despite the Deuce Vaughn headlines,
I still think Dowdle will be the best running back for Dallas.
Would you Rico Dowdle or Jerome Ford?
Depends what you need.
If you need somebody for a quick start, I'd go with Ford.
If you need somebody long-term, I'd go Dowdle.
Chuba Hubbard's a riser for you. What did you say, Heath?
Ford.
Chuba Hubbard's a riser for you, Jamie. Yeah, I mean, this was more long-term, I go double. Chuba Hubbard's a riser for you. What did you say, Heath? Forward. Chuba Hubbard's a riser for you, Jamie.
Yeah, I mean, this was more long-term,
or full preseason,
but Jonathan Brooks not starting the year ready to go
gives Hubbard...
You could do the flip of what Heath said.
You can take Chubb and Hubbard
and have a similar situation. how about heath you have
as a really confuse your fantasy team if you take chubb hubbard yeah jordan mason heath
yeah i didn't think he was even in the mix for rb2 at the beginning of the preseason and now
he may be that rb2 so someone who I am drafting now and I wasn't drafting before.
Wide receiver risers.
Jamie has Debo Samuel.
Debo Samuel.
I mean, we talked about it.
You know, just he was my preferred 49ers receiver for most of the offseason
and just, you know, closer to being a top 10 guy.
I think he's my top 10.
And he just continues to fall.
He's 11th for you.
He is in full PPR. And he's 20th for you, He is in full PPR and he's 20th for you.
Heath,
you want to spend a little time on Debo Samuel.
This is full PPR,
not his best format.
Yeah,
I think he's 11th for me and non PPR.
He's probably 15th and half PPR.
I,
I just kind of feel like Brandon,
I staying put.
So he probably would.
Maybe I just haven't adjusted enough on the possibility of I being gone.
He would be close to 10 for me if Ayuk was gone.
Would you guys take Debo or Nico Collins?
Debo.
Where's Ayuk?
He's right behind Debo.
He's 21st.
Fair enough.
You actually have them back-to-back.
I didn't realize.
Nico, 19.
Debo, 20.
Ayuk, 21.
Back-to-back-to-back, which is what the Yankees did
in terms of home runs on Sunday
because they have the AL MVP, Aaron Judge.
Runaway.
He that I have Aaron Judge.
Are they playing in a professional baseball stadium?
Aaron Judge's road numbers are better than his home numbers.
They're playing in the band Bucs.
And actually, have you seen Bobby Witt's numbers at home?
Yeah.
Much better.
That's a good park for him because he has warning track power.
Anyway, Malik Nabors has been a riser for you.
He's probably tired from playing in the field.
Judges don't have to worry about that.
Judges not a DH?
Yeah, Malik Nabors is all the way inside of my top 36 wide receivers.
He's a riser for both of you.
That's right.
Way to go.
Where is he for you, Jamie?
18th. Okay. So Mal go. Where is he for you, Jamie? 18th.
Okay.
So, league neighbors.
18 for Jamie, top 36 for Heath,
and Heath finally drafted him.
Rasheed Rice is a riser for both of you.
Did you hear Dan, his rant about you?
He's going to do his rant about me on CBS Sports Network
in about two hours.
Oh, nice.
I'm looking forward to it.
I hope he wears his Giants gear
and has a jersey on and a hat and everything.
Oh, yeah.
I wanted to share a picture of my daughter
in her Giants cheerleaders outfit
because we went to the game on Saturday.
But I was like, I don't really want people
to see pictures of my family.
But it was very cute.
What days, Schaefer, do we have CBS Sports Network shows?
We have one today, Monday at 1 o'clock.
It's always at 1 o'clock.
I want to promote that because I keep forgetting.
But if you have CBS Sports Network,
just watch it at 1 o'clock p.m.
What days?
I think Monday.
Monday through Wednesday this week.
Okay.
Check it out.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, 1 p.m. Eastern.
We have great content there for you on CBS Sports Network.
More wide receiver risers.
Brian Thomas for both of you.
To what?
Just inside top 40.
Round eight.
Oh, boy.
That's rich.
That's rich.
Who else is going to round eight?
Xavier Worthy.
Roman Dunse.
All right. Next up is wide receiver riser xavier worthy and roman duncey
okay so you like all those guys you like all these rookies they were all 9 10 guys i think
at the beginning of the preseason and they're all between like pick 85 and 95 now. And you haven't done that with Keon Coleman?
No.
Okay.
I haven't really seen anything from Keon Coleman that got me that excited.
What are we seeing from Brian Thomas?
Nobody can cover him.
Two huge plays.
I know, but that's the thing.
It's like Christian Kirk hasn't played.
And just look at the targets.
He had the same amount of targets.
I think that the rookies almost are all back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back.
Like, you can make a case for all
of them. Thomas and Odunze and
Coleman and maybe not
so much McConkie anymore, but
Worthy. They're all
worth round eight range
of just high upside guys.
If they hit, they're going to be great.
And in fairness, I liked Roma Dunze and Brian Thomas
and Xavier Worthy coming out of the draft
more than I like Keon Coleman.
So it's not like before they were ever on teams.
Okay.
Jamie, you have Khalil Shakir and Josh Palmer as risers.
Yeah, two guys that could easily be the best receivers
on their team.
And it's just free picks, you know, depending on when you're drafting them,
you know, so number four to five fantasy receivers, again,
depending how early you go in on the wide receiver pool,
but both guys going after pick 120 overall and easy to target.
Who do you like better?
Shakira Palmer?
I go back to back right now.
I have Shakira over Palmer just because I'm still a little concerned
with Herbert with the foot injury and just volume.
I think the Bills will throw a little bit more than the Chargers.
But again, similar type of outcomes, I think,
where the only difference would be is that Palmer could be the best receiver
on the Chargers, whereas I think if Coleman hits,
he'll be the best receiver on the Bills. Okay. think if Coleman hits, he'll be the best receiver on the bills.
Okay.
Uh,
Heath,
we got to get some followers here.
Let's go to Heath's followers.
Deshaun Watson.
How long did we wait before he was fully cleared?
And then we were like a week and his arm was tired or sore.
I,
this is,
you want to talk about bad vibes?
The entire Deshaun Watson experience has been bad vibes.
I thought somebody was doing like a thread of bold predictions and asking You want to talk about bad vibes. The entire Deshaun Watson experience has been bad vibes.
I saw somebody was doing a thread of bold predictions and asking people for them, and somebody said,
Deshaun Watson is not on the Browns at the end of this year.
That doesn't seem that unlikely to me.
I just don't like it.
Sorry, let's try to get back to the 10-second thing.
I took us off that.
That was pretty close to 10 seconds.
That was my fault.
I took us off track.
Russell Wilson.
We talked about the Steelers offensive line.
Dak Prescott for Jamie.
Not that I don't
want to draft Dak Prescott, but
he's just fallen in my
rankings. Clearly a little concerned about
CeeDee Lamb,
but he said it best about Caleb
Williams. I think when you're drafting at this position
you're drafting for who has the most upside dax floor is safer than jane daniels it's safer than
kyler murray it's safer than anthony richardson but i think all those guys that they hit they're
going to have more upside than him so it's not like he's fallen so much in a overall perspective
it's just more of the quarterback ranking so he's down to qb 11 for me all right 10 seconds jamie
jameer gibbs is a follower because of the hamstring. You already talked about him,
but where do you have Jameer Gibbs? He's back up to the sixth running back,
but I did not put him back in the first round. Alvin Kamara follower for you.
Yeah. The back injury on top of the Saints offensive line and Taysom Hill's role. So
still a good number two running back, but dropped him behind Walker behind, um,
HN. I had him ahead of those guys
for most of the offseason you both have jonathan brooks as a faller heath 10 seconds on nope sorry
you both have jaylen warren as a faller my bad uh 10 seconds on jaylen warren heath um just the
hamstring injury knocked him down a few spots and i haven't bounced him back the fact that he says
he could have played like maybe by week by next, he's fully practicing and I'm fine with it.
Okay.
Jonathan Brooks is a follower for Jamie.
We heard Heath say earlier that he drafts a lot of Jonathan Brooks.
So what's up there, Jamie?
Well, I was top 20 for Brooks, you know,
with the hope that he was going to be ready for week one.
So this was more a May-June ranking compared to where he is now.
And so I draft a lot of them too yeah but it's
just he's fallen in the rankings he's down eight spots the last couple days down to pick 104 so
the end of round nine so you guys and he said something last week i think when we were talking
about this like you know you have your two running backs and you don't necessarily feel like you need
a third guy to play right away you know so if you play a receiver in your flex or
have the ability to play multiple receivers in your flex like that's a good running back take
and then you can easily just double back in a few rounds and get hubbard just to cover yourself
tajay spears a follower for jamie yeah again i had them essentially back to back in in the in
in the majority of the summer rankings uh pollard and Spears, and just moving Pollard ahead and Spears a couple of spots back.
But still very much in the Spears camp.
Kendrick Miller is a follower for Heath, the guy.
I mean, it's not been a good offseason.
I sure would have thought if you told me that Alvin Kamara
was going to battle a back injury in camp,
it was going to be a good camp for Kendrick Miller,
and Dennis Allen hates his guts.
I saw somebody tweet something.
Dennis Allen, what do you think about the defensive line rotation?
Yeah, Kendrick Miller just is killing us.
We're never going to get him on the field.
It's like every answer, he just crushes Kendrick Miller.
CeeDee Lamb is a faller for Heath to what?
I said that just a little earlier in the show,
but he is now the fifth pick.
And if we get to Thursday, he will be the eighth pick.
Okay.
George Pickens, we talked about,
but we still like his value
around wide receiver 28 or so.
Christian Kirk.
Faller.
We're not entirely sure
that he's going to play all the time
in two wide receiver sets.
He's been dealing with
a little nagging injury.
I don't ever like those.
And Brian Thomas is getting better faster.
Kirk or McLaurin?
Kirk.
McLaurin.
Marvin Mims, a follower for you.
Yeah.
I was drafting him.
Now I'm not.
Pat Frymuth, we talked about.
Jamie, for you.
Michael Pittman, we talked about.
Brandon Ayuk, you talked about earlier.
Kirk is on your list as well.
Keenan Allen.
I had a 12-year-old
ask me yesterday,
when should fat Keenan Allen be drafted?
Oh my God.
I said,
what?
I swear to God.
That's really bad.
Yeah.
What was your answer? Then he won a few picks later from one of the kids I swear to God. That's really bad. Oh, man. Yeah.
So what was your answer?
Then he won a few picks later from one of the kids who was drafting remotely.
When did he go?
I don't know.
After a trip to McDonald's.
Okay. Would you rather have Keenan Allen or McLaurin?
McLaurin by a lot.
Yeah, I mean, Keenan Allen for me is undraftable.
Wow.
Odunze?
Yes.
Two times, and this was a, like we talk about it,
we have rankings changers during drafts.
Two times this weekend I was on the clock
and Keenan Allen was my top wide receiver
and I just took a rookie instead of him.
So I need to move him behind the,
the Xavier worthy Roma dunes,
a group.
You know what the best thing about that is?
Cause we obviously have the ability to do that a lot is it could change your
professional opinion.
You know,
when it comes to your personal opinion,
the thing I hate is when we do that in drafts and somebody that we draft with
changes their rankings in the middle of the draft drives me up a wall.
Okay. Gee, I wonder who he's talking about uh you have two guys i'm just gonna tell you i i know it's not a great reference point it's only one draft but you have marquise brown
and deandre hopkins marquise brown went 95th overall in my fft open uh division and deandre
hopkins went like 104th overall or something.
What do you think about those values?
Let's say somewhere around pick 100
for Marquise Brown and DeAndre Hopkins.
Great value.
Okay.
About where I have them, yeah.
Okay.
I prefer Marquise Brown still.
All right.
Preseason stats and takeaways.
Anything to make of the Panthers' offense?
Other than Chuba Hubbard, like, dominating snaps with the first team.
Did not surprise me with the running back situation.
I thought Bryce Townsend would be better.
Oh, for sure.
I mean, 6 of 8 for 70 yards and a touchdown,
but he was playing Buffalo backups, so that was good to see. he's going to look better. Oh, for sure. I mean, six of eight for 70 yards and a touchdown,
but he was playing Buffalo backups.
That was good to see.
Yeah, I don't know.
Okay, I don't really – Yeah, I like a lot of –
Will Levis looked good.
There's going to be somebody from the young quarterback group
that's going to emerge as, I think, a good streaming option.
And I'm not sure who it's going to be.
My choice would be Levis.
My guess would be Levis.
But Levis, Young, Bo Nix,
somebody from these guys that no one's drafting
in one quarterback, at least by any stretch,
is going to, I think, be a streaming option.
And Jeff Wilson started ahead of Jalen Wright for the Dolphins.
And this is a guy, Wilson, that got a decent amount of work last year
when Mostert was out, and it did not all go to A-chan.
I wonder if Wilson's going to make the—
is there any chance he gets cut and ends up on Dallas?
Or is relevant in an annoying way for the Dolphins?
I don't know what his future is.
I would assume, just based on how Mike McDaniel values him,
he came with him from San Francisco,
that he probably makes the team,
unless there's somebody that makes a trade offer.
And look, what is he worth?
Sixth round pick? Seventh round pick?
Is that more valuable to the Dolphins than keeping him
with Mostert being 32 and H&N having an injury track record?
Yeah, so that's track record. Yeah.
So that's Jeff Wilson,
uh, Tony Pollard.
So he had five carries for 17 yards and he had a one yard touchdown run.
That was all on the first.
No,
most of that was on.
Yeah.
I think all of his carries on the first drive.
He also had two catches for 27 yards.
Tajay Spears played on the second possession.
He had four carries for 12 yards.
He had one catch.
It was interesting though,
on the second possession, uh, Spears got a carry on third and one. He had one catch. It was interesting, though, on the second possession,
Spears got a carry on third and one.
He did not convert it.
And then Pollard came in on fourth and one,
caught a pass, and picked up the first down.
Definitely Pollard is ahead of Spears.
They are going to split, though.
It's quite clear.
And who's the goal linebacker?
I don't know if we know that.
They both got a short yardage carry.
Pollard got a goal line touchdown, but it was on sort of his possession.
Wide receiver, Carolina snap counts with Bryce Young.
There were 12 snaps.
Deontay Johnson was on the field for all 12 of them.
Adam Thielen for 11.
Chuba Hubbard for 10.
Jatavian Sanders for 10.
And Jordan Matthews at tight end for five snaps.
Matthews actually had a good game.
And I think for people looking at it for late round picks and redraft,
Mingo was playing ahead of LeJet.
Yeah, Mingo played eight snaps.
There's some comments in the chat about what I said about Keenan.
He's draftable.
I'm just not drafting him.
I didn't mean to imply that he's not draftable.
Jackson Smith and Jigba played five snaps,
and they were all in the slot.
Tyler Lockett didn't play.
I know we'd like to see JSN moved around a little bit,
but also, I think Dave was the first to point this out,
this system, this grub system,
does feature the slot a lot.
I think Dave was high on JSN for that reason.
And JSN had two catches for 32 yards on two targets.
Metcalf had a 21-yard yard touchdown it was against mostly cleveland backups
uh there's really nothing i had at tight end
jake matthew or uh jordan matthews converted wide receiver
they've had a bunch of injuries at tight end right i'm not sure i know
tatavian sanders obviously played ahead of him but matthews had three targets
and sanders had one.
Looking for streamers here.
I don't know.
Yeah.
Sanders is interesting.
New England, you know,
the New England wide receivers could be pretty frustrating. It seems like...
Well...
If we knew exactly who was playing every snap,
the New England wide receivers will be very frustrating.
It's like,
that's why we don't take any of them until around 13 or 14.
And just pick your favorite.
It's,
it's I forget who we were talking about in terms of upside and,
Oh,
the,
the Washington receivers.
I think if you're looking for in a little bit different realm,
I think if you're looking for the most consistent guides to Mario Douglas,
you know,
so if you want the safest option, he's going to be
their slot receiver. He's not going to play in two receiver sets
based on what we've seen. If you're looking
for the most upside, I think it's Jalen Polk.
And so
if Drake May can
become that guy,
not a superstar, but that guy for the
Patriots and
competent, then I think Polk is going to be
one of the better steals of the draft, fantasy-wise.
Okay.
And I had some emails.
Let's see if we can do these real quick here.
From Bob.
I keep landing and getting this in PPR two-flex mocks.
Well, he wants to know what you'd rather have in a two-flex PPR league.
Trey McBride and Rasheed Rice, or either Jalen Waddle or Mike Evans and Kyle pits.
I mean,
this is like all of Heath's favorite guys,
minus pits.
This is easy for Heath.
Definitely rice and McBride.
Right.
I don't know.
I mean,
he's a waddle Evans guy though.
Yeah.
But he can only have one of them.
Then he has to have pits,
but he likes rice probably almost as much as those guys.
So I've got a three-round difference between McBride and Pitts.
And I don't have near that big a difference between Waddle or Evans and Rice.
So it's definitely McBride and Rice.
Me too.
Okay.
From multiple people wanted to know, but I think I was going to save this for tomorrow,
but I'll read it now.
Anyway,
who,
who can you justify taking number one overall?
I am getting some people who are like a little nervous about drafting
McCaffrey.
Who do you think you can justify taking one one-on-one?
You mean besides McCaffrey?
Yeah.
Breece Hall or Bijan,
if you want a running back.
And then to me,
the only receiver right now is Tyreek.
Yep.
Okay, and it's from Kenzie.
Hey, Danny, Sonny, Putsy, and Knicky?
Did I say that third one right?
That's Greece, right?
Yeah, I've never seen that garbage.
How's it spelled?
P-U-T-Z-I-E.
Knicky gave it away for me.
Am I the only one that thinks Austin Eckler is a massive value?
That's the question.
These wheels need some grease, he says.
So I took Brian Robinson in the FFT Open
and needed another running back.
Took a receiver instead, but like Eckler came back
the next round and then came back the next round again. At some point, you know, somebody's got
pull trigger, including myself, you know, even, you know, to get the same backfield, but yeah,
he's, he's very good value. He's just, you gotta understand what you're getting. You know,
he's probably going to be a 10 touch per game guy at this point. Um, he could be great if
something happens to Brian Robinson.
Cliff Kingsbury said he still has a lot of tread on the tire,
so that's good.
They're going to use him.
So what capacity, though, is what we'll see.
My problem is I think Brian Robinson is a better rusher
at this stage of their careers,
and I don't think Jaden Daniels is going to check down.
By the way, both Browns's offensive tackles starting offensive tackles
are coming off the pup list so this was a very good 10 minutes stretch for the browns announcing
that both conklin and wills are coming off pup uh and we'll start practicing for wills it's going to
be some point this week all right that is heath and jamie i am adam thank you all very much for
watching and listening we've got got episodes every day this week.
We're pumped up.
And we'll tell you how to build teams.
We're doing our pick-by-pick today.
So we'll tell you how to build teams from each spot in the draft.
And we're doing that.
By the way, I know we keep promoting the FFT show on CBS Sports Network.
We're going to be on today at least.
We're usually doing spots throughout the week on cbs sports network
during the spotlight show which is typically at 3 p.m eastern uh myself dave and heath are going
to be on throughout the hour uh referencing the pick by pick so we'll be touching on the draft
board and showing you some of the things that we're doing in that and that's the three of us
dave dan and uh jacob gets so all right guys have a good one everybody we'll talk to you tomorrow three of us, Dave, Dan, and Jacob Gibbs. All right, guys.
Have a good one, everybody.
We'll talk to you tomorrow on Fantasy Football.
We'll talk to you tomorrow.
