Football is creeping up on us.
Fantasy drafts are coming up.
So we are here to help as we welcome you to another edition of Fantasy Football today on CBS Sports Network.
I am Adam Azer, joined by Jamie Eisenberg, of course.
Hello, Jamie. What's going on?
Countdown is here, buddy.
Nobody loves a countdown better than you.
Do I like countdown? I do like a good countdown.
Who doesn't like a good countdown?
New Year's? New Year's is super fun.
Dan Schneier is also here.
Dan, this morning on our podcast, we talked about tears,
which is, of course, a fantasy term.
But I took the opportunity to ask Jamie for a movie that made him cry.
First of all, can you guess that movie and give me a movie that brings tears to your eyes?
Boris Gump is my guess for Jamie.
No, that was clearly wrong just based on his reaction there.
That wasn't even anywhere close.
Marley and me.
Marley and me was the answer?
For me, I'm not even sure I know of a movie that brought me to tears.
Maybe I'm a soulless human being.
No, you're just a tough guy.
All right, well, what do you think about it?
This show is making me cry.
I don't wear glasses, so I can't be an action hero since I don't wear glasses.
There you go.
Let's get to our five big topics here for fantasy football.
You know, we've talked a lot about who is wide receiver one.
We know who RB one is, but who's RB two?
That's our first big topic.
Who is the number two running back in fantasy this season behind Christian McCaffrey?
I looked at average draft position on three different websites and actually Bijan Robinson just slightly ahead of Brees Hall on CBS, on Fantasy Pros, and on DraftSharks. Jamie,
you get the first word. Who is RB2 for you? It's basically 2 and 2A. For me, it's Brees Hall. I
just love what I saw from him last year. And really the selling point for me is he did this
one year removed from an ACL tear. Now he's two years removed from an ACL tear,
which from all the data that we've seen is when these guys really bounce back, especially at a
young age. So love the setup for him with a better offensive line. They spent a lot of capital this
offseason improving the offensive line. And while both guys are getting quarterback upgrades, I
trust Aaron Rodgers coming back, especially the date from when his Achilles tear was by comparison
to Kirk Cousins. So I love both these players.
I'd be happy with either one, but I'm going to give Brees Hall a slight nod.
Brees Hall might actually end up being my number one running back
by the time we get to the start of the season.
I love him that much.
I don't think I can quite go with Brees Hall or Bijan as my RB1,
but I do like them both enough to think that this is a clear tier one
for running backs this year with these three.
If I'm in a salary cap league, an auction league league i'm going to get one of these three backs i'm going with the hero running back strategy i'm not going to wait and get jonathan
taylor or jameer gibbs so i think there's a big drop off and the main reason is especially if
you're in ppr leagues the reception upside for both of these players the way these coaches have
talked about them and what we saw from breeze hall last year because we've talked a lot about
the upgrade for every falcons position player but whether it's Drake London, Kyle Pitts or
B. John Robinson with Kirk Cousins coming over.
But what about Aaron Rodgers stepping into this Jets offense, assuming it can be healthy?
And the good news is, even if he does miss a game or two, I have faith in Tyrod Taylor,
who had the eighth best clean pocket EPA of any quarterback last year and the most explosive
passing rate of any quarterback last year in the NFL on a small sample size.
So I like both of the upgrades for both offenses.
I think you clearly get one of these three backs if you're going for a hero running back
strategy.
Plus, I will say, Brees Hall is pretty motivated that Pete Prisco left him off his top 100
list.
So motivation, as we know, Adam, is big, and nobody's more motivated than Brees Hall.
Yeah, I don't know about that.
Some people are probably a little bit more motivated, but sure, I'll take it.
Obviously, Pete Prisco hasn't put me on any list,
so I'm motivated by his snub as well.
Or Brees Hall.
Brees Hall, by the way.
Or Brees Hall.
RB6 per game in PPR, Brees Hall.
Bijan was RB15 per game.
If you take away his migraine game, his headache game, he was RB11 per game. It's just funny. They are being drafted as RBs two and three. We're expecting
jumps here. All right. Topic number two here. Let's talk about rookie quarterbacks. Who is
your favorite rookie quarterback? We'll go to Jamie and then to Dan. Jamie, is it Caleb Williams
or Jaden Daniels? I like Jaden Daniels for fantasy and mostly because of the way that he's going to
use his legs. He's going to be, in my opinion, the best running quarterback in fantasy this year.
Him or Anthony Richardson, but I love the setup for him.
I think we saw it in LSU, just how he won the Heisman.
He's going to be fantastic as a passer, but what he'll do as a runner, especially in year one,
we know he's got the ability to be a 1,000-yard guy.
And so while Caleb Williams has better weapons, he's going to be a better passer, right away at least.
I think Jaden Daniels could actually be one of these guys that we talk about that breaks fantasy. So
top 12 guy for me. I actually haven't ranked number 11. I would be very thrilled to draft
him as my only quarterback because I do think that as long as he stays healthy, he's going to
be an absolute superstar. Love Caleb Williams, but I think Jaden Daniels is the better fantasy option.
I'd love to counter, but Jamie nailed that. And Jaden Daniels made my bold predictions as
the best value in fantasy,
the easiest free square.
But I will make the case for Caleb, too, as another great value in fantasy.
If you look at what Caleb Williams did over his two seasons at USC,
you'd be shocked to see the numbers.
And it's from a touchdown standpoint, from a lack of interception standpoint,
and from a yardage standpoint.
He did it without a single wide receiver drafted in the first three rounds
besides Jordan Addison, who he only played with for one season,
no offensive lineman drafted in at all from USC. And now he gets an upgraded
team because the Bears have built out a nice offensive line. It's not perfect. It's not the
best, but it's a little above league average with three stud receivers. I haven't seen a quarterback
enters rookie season with a better wide receiver core than Caleb Williams will have. And so I think
he's going to also have a phenomenal season. He'll do it a little differently though. And it's going
to be tough for him to make up the rushing yardage
and the rushing production that Jaden Daniels has.
Yeah, just looking at that projection there for Jaden Daniels,
first of all, for the two of them, it's almost identical.
And Jamie doesn't do those projections.
Dan doesn't do those projections.
But I think we're going to disagree with those projections
from the Jaden Daniels rushing numbers, 554 rushing
yards. I don't know if that's not projecting him for a full season. It should be. He's going to
start, but we're thinking more like a thousand, you know, for Jaden Daniels, Caleb Williams.
It's kind of a mystery. His three seasons, 442, 382, 142 rushing yards. I think if he gets to
400 rushing yards, I think he'll be better than Jaden Daniels.
I'll be in the minority here, I guess.
I'll take Caleb Williams.
Two votes for Jaden Daniels,
but these guys could give you really good production.
All right, Texans wide receivers.
This is going to be fascinating.
I mean, I think in week one,
we're just going to be overreacting like crazy
to whatever happens.
We'll see.
And then we're just going to keep overreacting
every single week.
But I want to know who has the best average draft position among these three Texans wide receivers. We've
got Nico Collins going in the middle of round three. We got Stefan Diggs in round five and
Tank Dell about six picks later in round five. So, Jamie, with that being said, Nico Collins,
twenty ninth. Stefan Diggs, fifty seventh. Tank Dell, 58th. Or 52nd, excuse me.
Tank Dell, 58th.
Who's got the best ADP, best value there?
Well, I think the way you set this up makes perfect sense.
You take the one that's last because we don't know exactly how this is all going to shake out.
And if you're getting similar stats from these guys by the time the season's over,
the one that you get the last of the three is the better off for your fantasy team.
I still like Nico Collins the best. And round three is actually later than where I have him
ranked. I actually have him ranked as a second round pick. To me, he feels the safest, but Tank
Dell is the guy that every time CJ Strouds asks about his receiving core, this is the one he
talked about going back to pre-draft through last year, even this offseason after getting
Stephon Diggs. I do feel like Diggs is getting a little bit disrespected, but based on age, you know I'm not necessarily fond of the older players.
He's in his early 30s already.
By comparison, you saw Nico Collins last year at third-year breakout,
Tank Dell going into his sophomore campaign.
I think as long as Dell stays healthy, he's going to challenge to be the number one guy there.
They're all really going to be very, very productive,
but for me, I'm going to take the one that's last if we're just talking about value.
I'll go with Nico Collins here.
I think Nico, like Jamie said, should be a second- second round pick i could argue he could be as early as a
mid-second round pick and a lot of that has to do with what he did last season his yards per
outrun was historically good and that is one of the stickiest advanced stats year over year and
it just showed how dominey was and within that bobby slow scheme what i like so much about him
he's used on those deep in breaking routes so we're going to still see a huge yards per reception and a lot of chunk gains no matter how this offense evolves
and to me there's a little less risk because Tank Dell's coming back off the injury and like Jimmy
said Stefan Diggs's numbers have trended down as he gets older so I feel like the cleanest bill here
is is Nico Collins it's a little bit of a you know up a luxury to pay with the second or third round
uh pick whatever you're gonna end up using on him but i'll play that luxury i was asked the same question about the chicago bears wide
receivers now as we get into topic number four who's got the best average draft position we've
got dj moore going 38th overall so that's early in round four now keenan allen he's going in round
eight on our site 86th overall i will say that c CBS ADP is much lower on Keenan Allen than the other websites.
So in other sites, you might see Keenan Allen go in the fifth or sixth round.
But we'll play this game where he's going in round eight,
and Romo Dunze is going 98th overall.
DJ Moore, 38th.
Jamie Keenan Allen, 86th.
Romo Dunze, 98th.
What's the best Bears value?
I'm going to go with the last one here again.
You know, it feels like it's cheating,
but I don't want to pay that price for DJ Moore.
He was an absolute star last year,
helped me win a lot of fantasy leagues.
And listen, he was great with Justin Fields.
I think he'll be better in terms of a player
with Caleb Williams because he'll be a better passer.
But there's too many mouths to feed in this offense.
And so to be drafting him that high,
banking on a rookie quarterback to support all of these guys
and still make DJ Moore the top priority by a distant margin, I just don't want to pay that capital.
I'm out on Keenan Allen.
I just think this is going to be a tough season for him statistically.
He's used to the target volume being there.
That won't be the case.
He's used to the reception total carrying his fantasy production.
That won't be the case.
He's never been a consistent high-end touchdown producer.
I don't think that happens in Chicago.
So I'll take the unknown, and hopefully Romo Odunze comes in
and makes a lot of plays.
We saw Keenan Allen miss the Final Four games last year with a heel injury.
I don't know how much of that was actually really an injury
that he couldn't play through.
Clearly, Justin Herbert was not playing, and the team was out of it.
So I don't know necessarily he could have played through that,
but still an older receiver, if he does miss time,
and Odunze gets even a bigger bump in terms of targets and production, give me the unknown quality. I'll take Odunze all day long here.
Yeah, for me, it's the player who I think has a good chance to be in the mix is my five most
rostered players this year, and that's Romo Odunze. And I think a case can be made that he
might be the best wide receiver on the Bears roster. And if you look at the scouting reports
and you take an actual look at their film from college, it's a fair case to be made. I viewed
him as one of the best wide receivers.
I would have him as wide receiver one in seven of the last ten draft classes.
He had a 75% contested catch rate last season, which is bonkers.
You throw the football up near him, he will come down with it.
He's a smooth route runner.
He can run all three levels of the field.
He can block, so he'll be on the field because of that.
He actually made impact in the screen game at Washington.
But really where I see him breaking out in year one is in the red zone.
I think on third downs and in the red zone,
he's going to evolve as Caleb Williams' go-to guy,
and they had the extra time to work together with the rookie minicamp as well,
which I like building that rapport out.
So it's Odunze for me for sure.
Yeah, I don't know.
I hear that, guys.
But for Keenan Allen to not return eighth-round value would be nuts.
If he stayed healthy and didn't return eighth round value,
he's never been that bad,
except maybe his second year he had a bad season.
Other than that, he's basically been a top 12 wide receiver per game
in PPR every year.
He's never been in this type of situation, though.
That's the difference.
He's not my favorite in the group,
but he's my favorite value in the group.
I'm used to seeing him going in this about 60th.
86th overall seems a little bit nuts to me on Keenan Allen, so just my favorite value in the group because usually i'm used to seeing him going in this about 60th 86th overall it seems a little bit nice to me on team and alan so just my favorite
value here uh well listen guys i i like to save the best for last the wide receiver trio that
everyone's talking about uh the los angeles charts what's the best what's the best value here topic
number five who came up with this one it was me uh Ladd McConkie in round seven or late round picks
on Quinton Johnston and Josh Palmer.
Johnston going 152nd
overall. Palmer 162nd
overall or McConkie
going 77th. Jamie, who's the best
value in the Chargers receiving
core? Yeah, I like Ladd McConkie. He's
going to be on a lot of my fantasy teams, but Palmer's the easy
answer here. I mean, you know, you saw what he was able to accomplish
over the last couple of years when someone's been missing.
And look, Justin Herbert's got a lot of different things at play here. No Keenan Allen, no Mike
Williams. New coach coming in, new system with Greg Roman and Jim Harbaugh. And so we know they're
not going to throw the ball at the same level they have the last couple of seasons, but they're still
going to pass the ball. Everybody just thinks they're going to hand the ball off and play defense
the entire time. They are going to throw the ball. They're not going to put a talent like Justin
Herbert and not give him the opportunity to make plays.
Palmer is the established guy of this group.
Quentin Johnson was a flop last year. I hope
he can bounce back in year two, but we heard
the report from The Athletic about the top two receivers
being McConkie and Palmer right away,
and Johnson having to work in the mix. And let's
not forget they added DJ Chark as well. Very disrespectful
you, Adam, not to put him as part of this conversation.
But in any event, give me Palmer based
on this cost. I think he'll end up being much better than this average draft position,
and it would not be shocking if he's better than McConkie across the board.
I've been accused at times of agreeing with Jamie too much,
but I think it's disingenuine to disagree just to disagree.
So it is Josh Palmer for me.
One thing I loved about Josh Palmer when I evaluated his tape at Tennessee
was his ability to track the ball on the vertical plane.
It stood out despite poor quarterback play.
Haven't seen it fully at the NFL level.
Injuries have played a role.
But this offense, I actually think, curtails to his skill set best.
Sure, maybe not from a target and volume standpoint,
but from the standpoint of there's going to be a lot of play action,
a lot of run-heavy sets that's going to get him some one-on-one opportunities
in the vertical passing game.
So I really do like Palmer the best at that group.
Instead of Jamie and me, or instead of Marley and me,
we could have Jamie and me.
Jamie's just throwing Frisbees to Dan in the park.
Look, Adam, come up with more great takes,
and I'll agree with you more often.
All right, how about this?
Up next, we've got some early average draft position
that we're going to be talking about here on Fantasy Football today.
We're not necessarily interested in what's happening right now.
We want to know what's going to change as we get closer to draft season.
When we come back,
Jamie's going to give you five projected ADP risers on fantasy football
today.
Fall is almost gone,
but have you sipped enough Starbucks fall faves?
Enough of the pumpkin spice latte, the cinnamony pumpkin-flavored legend,
or the new iced apple crisp non-dairy chai, so silky, so smooth.
How about the new pecan crunch oat latte?
Nutty, buttery deliciousness and crunchy pecan flavor.
Trick question, of course.
It's the last call for fall, so don't miss out on your fall faves.
Next stop, Starbucks.
Back here on Fantasy Football today.
Some drafts have taken place, some early drafts here on CBSSports.com,
and we have the data.
We have the early average draft position and a lot to take away from that.
We want to know, though, who's going to be moving up.
All right, Jamie's going to take a look at the ADP and tell us five players that he thinks between now and, let's say, mid-August, you're going to see a big difference.
These guys are going to be moving up.
And it starts with rookie running back Jonathan Brooks for the Carolina Panthers, who's going 70th overall.
Right now he's a round six pick.
Jamie, how high do you think he could go if we start getting good medical reports on him? I mean, potentially round four. I would say
probably round five is where he would settle, you know, in terms of getting a healthy Jonathan
Brooks. And that's really the key. You know, if we get to training camp and he is ready to go,
no issues, no poplars, no any restrictions based on the knee injury, I think he's going to be a
guy that potentially skyrockets. Look, the Panthers are going to do a good job running the ball this year.
Dave Canales got great production from his running back last year,
Rashad White, as a pass catcher.
And I think Brooks will be a better runner while still being involved
in the passing game.
Chuba Hubbard was good last year.
Miles Sanders obviously has a good career, but he flopped in Carolina.
I think they drafted Brooks to be the go-to guy.
Hopefully it's right from the start of the season,
right from the start of training camp.
And if he's good to go, he may be a top 15 running back. I don't hate it. I think
from the tape I watched of this rookie class, Brooks was my RB1 because he did something that
I saw from Brees Hall when I watched his tape at Iowa State. It's the ability to set up your
blockers and tempo your runs. My issue is we've seen a lot of running backs, just not when you're
removed from the ACL, struggle a bit to come back at first.
I know Brees saw a bit of an exception there, but still wasn't quite at top speed as we
saw in his rookie season.
Other running backs have taken a worse turn than that.
Javante Williams being a good example of that.
So I'm not so sure they're willing to turn this backfield over.
I know we're very excited about what we saw from Rashad White and Dave Canales last year
from a target standpoint.
But I also want to note that Baker Mayfield and Bryce Young are different quarterbacks, and the Panthers have done a lot
to upgrade the weapons around him.
So I'm kind of still curious to see where that passing deck goes
with Dave Canales having those weapons.
So for me, he's a player who I think will rise,
will get the hype if he's there in training camp,
but he'll be someone I'll be avoiding.
By the way, I don't hate it is about as mean as Dan's going to get to J.
Christian Watson is next up on your list.
He's an early round eight pick 86 or so overall right now.
Christian Watson.
And yeah,
again,
I same kind of question here.
If he seems healthy,
it seems like he's got the hamstring issues figured out,
which honestly,
I don't know that we're really going to know that until the season starts or,
you know,
until he's really tested. I don't know. But how early do you think he could go right now?
Christian Watson's around eight pick probably another two rounds. You know, again, we see
receivers getting drafted much sooner than ever before, understandably so, especially if you play
in three receiver leagues. And so third year receiver, the hype is already there, you know,
because I think a lot of people that do what we do are looking at this guy and saying he's
different than Jaden Reed.
He's different than Dontavion Wicks.
He's different than Romeo Dobbs and could be the alpha in this receiving core, which is crowded.
And you have to take that into account.
Jordan Love did a great job last year, even when Watson was on the field, spreading the ball around, including the tight ends.
And we know the running backs will be a part of this as well.
But just based on how he profiles and when we've seen him play and seen him been healthy, you know,
a lot of it was more so his rookie campaign with Aaron Rogers as opposed to
last year,
but there was a solid connection between love and Watson at times and that can
only get expanded if he's on the field for the majority of the season.
So this is the type of player that if he hits will be a league winner.
No doubt about it.
So Christian Watson will always have a heart,
a special place in my heart because
he was my first breakout call on beyond the box score and it worked his rookie year but things
have changed a lot in Green Bay since then they've added a lot of talent at the wide receiver position
around him and more importantly Jordan Love who's now quarterback there showed in my opinion a great
job of scanning the field and delivering to different targets not locking in on one target
I know he had some success with Watson but there was also a really good job by him, in my opinion,
of going through his progressions and getting to the right read.
So ultimately, I think he can be a league winner from a talent standpoint,
but I worry that the volume will never quite be there
for him to be a consistent fantasy wide receiver one.
So while I do think his ADP will rise,
and it's a great call by Jamie on that front,
I am a little bit worried about what his ceiling is from a target standpoint.
Yeah, I agree with you.
I do think they have a lot of good wide receivers, but I don't know.
Jaden Reed's pretty exciting, too, but I don't think anyone on the team,
I think you'd agree with this, Dan.
I don't think any of those receivers have as much upside as Wap.
Not from a talent standpoint, but again, upside in fantasy to me is reliant on volume.
Yeah, yeah, that's a good call.
All right, Jalen Warren is third on Jamie's
list here. He is going 104th overall. So that's a late round nine pick for Jalen Warren. Why is
it that you think he could be an ADP riser? It just feels too late, you know, for a guy that
might be the best running back on his own team, you know? And so I hope it stays in this range
because getting him at this cost is fantastic. Last year, didn't catch a touchdown,
but scored five touchdowns on the ground,
and he was the primary pass catcher out of the backfield.
Now, the thing that I like about the situation with Arthur Smith coming,
I think Najee Harris is still the safest
of the Steelers running backs because of Mike Tomlin,
because I still think he'll lead them in carries.
But we saw last year in Atlanta
with Arthur Smith calling plays,
we had over 230 carries for Bijan Robinson
and 186 carries for Tyler Algier, plus 50 carries for Cordero Patterson.
Now, Patterson may be a factor in the ground game here for Pittsburgh as well
as he followed Smith from the Falcons to the Steelers.
But if Warren can get over 200 carries or close to 200 carries,
he's going to be better than Najee Harris in PPR.
And so last year he was a half a point better to begin with,
half a decimal point better than Najee Harris last year. So a half a point better to begin with a desk, half a decimal point better than,
than Najee Harris last year.
So he's got the opportunity to be better than him already.
And they're going too far apart in my opinion right now,
as it is.
So to get him this late is,
is unbelievable value.
And he could be a number two running back right out of the gate.
Certainly a flex in PPR.
I love the setup for Jalen Warren.
Love getting him this late.
So stay here if that's the case,
but I do think he'll rise as people are more aware of what will happen for
him in Pittsburgh. So I think he's an excellent value, but I actually
don't think that ADP will rise too much because I don't know what factor would lead to that outside
of a nausea or injury. I don't think he's as exciting as some of these other running backs
that people are going to get really into. But I think Jamie's right. And one thing I lean on is
just how Arthur Smith used his running backs in Atlanta in the red zone. You would think last year
with the talent he had around him,
that would be B.
John's time to shine.
I would personally do that,
but that's not how Arthur Smith approached it.
So I think there could be even bigger red zone role for Jalen Warren in this
offense, which could really make the difference in his fantasy value.
So I love him as a value.
I'm just not so sure he's going to rise too much ADP wise.
I'll just say this.
We're probably the lowest ADP on him, which is part of this.
So I think you look at other places, he's going much sooner than this.
All right, let's talk about the next guy here.
And you know what?
Just to make things interesting, I'm going to just flat out disagree with you.
Cleveland running back Jerome Ford.
I think the only way his ADP rises from around 10 ADP
is if Nick Chubb starts the season on the pup list.
Then I think that's obvious.
But I'm not really going to be in, I don't think, on Jerome Ford
because if Nick Chubb is healthy, they didn't really give Jerome Ford that much work
last year.
They were mixing in Kareem Hunt, who was pretty ineffective last year, quite a bit.
I mean, I would say it was probably about 60-40 in carries.
So I think they'll find someone else, Foreman or whoever it may be, to take those carries
if Chubb isn't playing.
But if Chubb is playing, I think Jerome Ford is probably useless.
So you're not going to see me, Jamie, jumping on this bandwagon if Jerome Ford's ADP rising. Well,
the idea was ADP rising, and it would only be because Nick Chubb is on the pup list. And so
that is the obvious reason why we're talking about him here. So yes, if Chubb does avoid the pup list,
and by the way, video circulating of him squatting 800 plus pounds again. So kudos to him. Hopefully
he's good to go because we're big fans of Nick Chubb
and the fantasy community.
But if he's on the pop list,
I mean, look, Jerome Ford was very good last year
despite losing a lot of touchdowns to Kareem Hunt.
And I do like the fact that you bring up the 60-40 split.
If you look at Chubb's history,
it obviously wasn't that type of split,
but he's always been sharing with somebody else,
especially in the Stefanski era.
So what's been kind of Chubb and Kareem Hunt mostly.
And last year, we don't know exactly how it would have played out because Chubb suffered
the knee injury in week two.
But it's tough to come back from that injury.
He's 28 years old, had two separate surgeries because of the MCL and the ACL.
It could be a situation where they view themselves as a playoff contender.
They're not going to rush Nick Chubb back because he's been so valuable to that franchise
and the addition of Deontay Foreman. They have some security there to get Chubb back because he's been so valuable to that franchise and the addition of Deontay Foreman.
They have some security there to get Chubb back to 100%.
So I do think that if he opens on the pup list, Jerome Ford's ADP could skyrocket because
if he's going to miss four to six games, that allows Jerome Ford the opportunity to build
off what he did last year and maybe be even better.
And I do think that he'll still be a factor even when Chubb comes back.
So I like the setup for him right now where he is.
But if Chubb is out, he's going to be a much, much more valuable draft pick that will go much sooner.
I had a shooting pain in my lower back watching that Nick Chubb video.
So many plates on that rack.
It looked like the rack was bending the barbell.
I think that's by design, but I don't even know.
I didn't want to look too much further into it because, again, I had a shooting pain just looking at it.
But I will say this on that front.
Adam makes a good point about the usage of kareem hunt and i wonder how much
that will factor into the signing of dante foreman because foreman's been a pretty effective back at
all his stops he's defied odds no matter where you put him bears you know panthers he's been
productive and i wonder if they want that physicality in their offense though i do think
ford has some really good advanced stats that show he's a really explosive playmaker so i don't think
he'll be phased out of the offense.
I do want to keep in mind that if Chubb does hit the pup list or he takes a slow time coming back or, you know, they do kind of what we thought the Chiefs might have done with Kelsey last year, save him for the playoffs.
Well, in that case, I think Foreman will be a bigger factor.
Yeah.
All right.
And then finally, we've got Jamison Williams, who is a late round 10 pick.
He's going 119th overall.
And how do you think?
I think we're looking at maybe like a round eight type of player for him.
You know, somebody who's going to get, I think, more preseason hype as opposed to pre-preseason hype,
which is in the phase we're at right now.
You know, everybody loves the setup for him.
You know, Josh Reynolds is gone.
There's an opportunity here for 64 targets that are vacated for him to step in and be that type of player. We haven't seen it yet. You know, whether
it was coming off the ACL tear in college, the gambling suspension that he had last year, but
year three, the runway is clear. And so Jared Goff, we love the setup for him. We love the setup for
the Lions. Only three outdoor games all season. Laporta's a stud. Clearly Amaro St. Brown is one
of the best players at his position, and they have two running backs that are going to be factors in the passing game as well,
more so Jameer Gibbs and David Montgomery.
But Jared Goff will allow Jamison Williams,
I think Ben Johnson will allow Jamison Williams, the offense coordinator there,
to take that step forward.
So every opportunity is there for him to make plays and be a playmaker,
and it's going to take something in training camp, something in the preseason if he plays,
and we can see this ADP skyrocket because everybody's excited about JMO finally going into year three. This is the exact profile
of a player whose ADP will skyrocket because when you get to the range of where he's being drafted,
you're not going to see a lot of former first round top 10 picks, including one that the Lions
specifically traded up for, investing a lot of draft capital. I'm just skeptical of it actually
working out. From my observation of the ben johnson offense it's very concentrated through the play action passing game
with reads one and two being sam laporta and amand mara saint brown and to be quite frank based on
the offensive line in the run game those reads are open a lot and jared goff can deliver the
football there on time and i don't know you know there's going to be opportunities for james and
we saw it in the playoffs but i don't know how consistent that's going to be from a fantasy
standpoint so i do think his adp will skyrocket and I think I'll be laying off of it.
I just want to go back to tying Jameson and Christian Watson real quick because Dan referenced something there.
These aren't going to be guys that have a lot of targets.
You have to understand that.
They're not going to be top 10 caliber fantasy options unless they score a bunch of touchdowns.
But for where you're drafting these guys, especially Watson could be a number two receiver.
Jameson Williams could be a number two receiver. Jamison Williams could be a number three receiver.
The value is unbelievable for the type of production that they can give you.
And so you're not drafting them to be volume type of guys, but you're drafting them to be potential weekly difference makers.
So six, seven weeks out of the season, these guys could be guys that win you your week.
And that's why you're taking them to be your number three or four wide receiver based on how you build your team.
Yeah. All right. Some players to get excited about,
and maybe we'll see them rise.
Hopefully we won't,
because then you can get some even better value.
So those are some players that Jamie thinks
could be on the rise.
When we come back on Fantasy Football today,
some projected ADP fallers.
That's up next.

All right, welcome back, everybody, to Fantasy Football Today.
DJ Moore going at the 3-4 turn.
Might be a little bit steep for a lot of people. Jamie
thinks that ADP will get a little bit lower. So we're going to talk about five players that Jamie
projects as fallers in ADP over the next month or so, starting with DJ Moore. So again, he's going
about 37th, 38th overall. Yeah, I don't know. I agree with you, Jamie, that it's too early.
I don't know that the community is going to come around on that. They seem to like Moore more than we do.
What do you think about that situation?
I hope he falls.
I mean, I like DJ Moore.
We spent some time earlier in the show talking about what's the best value
for the Bears wide receivers, and we all agreed, Dan especially agreed,
that Romo Dunze is the best value based on where he was going
as the third member of the trio.
But, look, Moore should still be the best wide receiver.
He's the more established of the two of the outside guys,
at least the expected outside guys of Moore and Odunze.
And Keenan Allen's 32 years old, you know,
so Moore was amazing last year, but he was a solo act.
And now there's competition.
And so if you're drafting him at this price,
it almost feels like you're drafting him based on what he did a year ago
and replicating that type of production. So if you drop him around, I'm in on DJ Moore. At this cost, it almost feels like you're drafting him based on what he did a year ago and replicating that type of production.
So if you drop him around, I'm in on DJ Moore.
At this cost, I'm completely out.
I just can't draft him this close to what was his ceiling last year.
I don't think it's close to what his ceiling is going to be this year.
Yeah, volume is the name of the game in fantasy.
And while one could argue that DJ Moore will have the best quarterback situation in his
entire career, one I would agree with, the other side could argue he's going to have the most target competition
by far that he's ever had, even dating back to Carolina.
So for that reason alone, I'm with Jamie and you on this one, Adam.
Zay Flowers going 52nd overall.
He is wide receiver 24.
He's going ahead of George Pickens, Malik Neighbors, Amari Cooper,
and Tank Dell.
You think he will be a follower, Jamie?
Zay Flowers. I do. And, you know, you're askingbors, Amari Cooper, and Tank Dell. You think he will be a follower, Jamie? Zay Flowers.
I do.
And, you know, you're asking people to sort of, again, overlook what he did last year.
And I think it's an interesting case study because we talk about rookie wide receivers
and what they're able to accomplish when they are good as rookies.
And typically what we see, and I know you use the 900-yard mark as the barometer,
when they start to build, it's at the end of the season.
Well, what happened at the end of the season last year for Flowers?
Mark Andrews was gone from week 11 on after he suffered the ankle injury
and that's when the majority of touchdown production came for flowers when he was really
the go-to guy his target share increased everything that you look for for an alpha type of guy he was
performing at that level but now you're bringing mark andrews back into the fold and so we had a
question on our podcast last week what happens with the loss of odell beckham and does that help
as a flower i hope it does but again you're drafting him what it feels like is too
close to a ceiling. And the wide receivers that you mentioned, Pickens is one for sure that jumps
out to me as just a better situation than what Flowers has right now, aside from really the
quarterback. And so is Lamar Jackson all of a sudden going to morph into a guy that can support
two elite talents at a high enough level that they're guaranteed fantasy starters.
Oh, by the way, they just added Derrick Henry to their backfield as well.
So I love the setup for Zay Flowers.
I would love to draft him as a number three wide receiver.
Unfortunately, right now you're drafting him as a number two guy.
So I think people will start to realize Flowers should fall behind a few of these guys.
Still worth drafting as a borderline starter,
just not somebody where he's going right now as a guaranteed starter.
I disagree with Jamie on this one, because I personally am
hoping that his ADP falls, because Zay Flowers is one of
my favorite players. I agree, all of that context
makes sense, and it is working against him, but
what's working for him is the idea that
this offense under Tom Munkin,
a coordinator who did an excellent job creating
an offense at the collegiate level, and showed flashes
last year. It wasn't fully complete, but there were flashes.
Could take a step forward, the entire offense, Lamar Jackson especially.
And if that passing game takes another step forward
and that rapport continues to build between Flowers and Lamar,
and I think clearly he'll be the number one receiver target.
I don't know how Andrews will work in,
but I think he's clear number one wide receiver target,
which we don't have on a lot of teams.
We could see a big jump from Flowers, and to me,
he looked like the best of all the rookie receivers
by a considerable margin last year.
Oh,
all the first-round rookies, not the Pukunukuas
and Tankdells. Not including Pukunukuas,
sorry.
That's fine.
Just a side fact.
Right, yeah, they have 1,400 yards. But something's
going to have to change in Baltimore.
They're going to have to throw the ball more, or else
one or both of Andrews and Flowers is going to change in Baltimore. They're going to have to throw the ball more or else one or both of Andrews
and Flowers is going to be a bust.
And then if they do throw the ball more, then Derrick Henry
might be a bust. To have four players
going in the top 50 or 55
or so is a little crazy when
you have a quarterback who runs as much as he does.
Let's take a look at the rest of Jamie's list. You've got
Raheem Mostert, Austin Eckler,
and TJ Hawkinson. These are three guys
that you could see going later in drafts as we get.
Mostert's RB21 on CBS ADP.
He's going ahead of Conner, Aaron Jones, Brooks, DeAndre Swift.
Eckler's running back 28.
TJ Hawkinson is tight end 10.
Pick one guy, Jamie, and make the fall or case for one of these three.
I think Mostert's the one that stands out to me
because Hawkinson may start on the pup list,
and Eckler, I think people will start to realize, you know,
based on his age and going to a new team, that Brian Robinson might be the betterkinson may start on the pup list and Eckler, I think people will start to realize, you know, based on his age
and going to a new team
that Brian Robinson
might be the better running back there
just across the board.
But Mostert, it feels as if
people are just forgetting
that the emergence of Devon Aitken.
I say that despite the fact
that Aitken is going ahead of him
and has a round two pick.
Mostert's 32 years old.
They added Jalen Wright.
He tied Christian McCaffrey
for the most total touchdowns,
scored the most rushing touchdowns. You almost need that to
happen again to justify drafting him this high.
I think he's a good flex. I don't want to start
my team with Raheem Mostert
as a number two running back. You can't have both.
I don't think you could have the HM breakout and Mostert still be
a number two running back. One of these guys has to
fall off, and the best bet is probably Mostert
again being an older running back.
Okay. Well, congratulations,
guys. We got through the business portion of the show.
Now we get to kick back some fun and games.
Next up, hopefully we'll get Dan and Jamie humiliating themselves
by not getting any of the name that players write.
It all depends if your clues are good.
They're not.
I'm telling you right now.
They are not very good.
So it's going to be a big challenge for you.
Name that player up next on Fantasy Football Today.
With Smartwater's pure, crisp taste, there's nothing to overthink.
So while you may be spiraling over double texting your crush,
whether your skincare routine is working because you look the same

It's definitely not that. Don't overthink how you hydrate.
Life's full of choices. Smart water is a simple one. Man, the controversy is starting during the commercial break.
We can't figure out how to play Name That Player.
No, no, no, no, no.
We know how to play Name That Player.
We know how to play Name That Player.
Yes, this is a you problem.
I'll just text you who it is, and if you want to look down,
you can just shout out.
We're just asking for a position, Adam.
We're just asking for a position.
You'll get it on three of the four players.
All right, let's go right to it here.
By the way, I don't think Dan has ever gotten a single one of these right,
so we'll see.
I actually got like one or two right total.
I'm not sure I believe that.
Who has a better tan?
Yeah, look at the video next time.
He thinks he has a better tan than I do.
I was the number two player in PPR at my position last season.
But I am eighth in ADP at my position this season.
Jamie.
Okay.
Yeah.
Kyron Williams.
Okay, that is incorrect.
Incorrect.
Are we getting a position or no?
No.
My first and last name start with the same letter.
All right.
Next up, I've scored more than four touchdowns only once in seven seasons.
And in 2023, I scored four touchdowns on 143 targets.
And since you guys are such babies,
I am a tight end.
I already guessed.
I can't answer again.
No, you can go.
Let Dan go first.
He has nothing.
Don't worry about it.
No, it's not that I have nothing.
I have a shot here.
Give me a second.
Oh, Dan.
Yeah?
Evan Ingram.
You could have just said Evan Ingram. Correct. Correct. It is Evan Ingram. You could have just said Evan Ingram.
Correct.
Correct.
It is Evan Ingram.
How about that?
Jamie, real quick.
Dan, you got it right.
Should he be eighth in ADP?
He was second overall last year at the position.
Yeah, I think that's about fair.
I'm not even sure I would take him in the top eight.
So, look, I understand the end of the season,
a lot of injuries there in Jacksonville from a receiver standpoint, even throughout the year with Kirk injured earlier in the year.
The targets were there.
Will they be there this year as I think the offense evolves with two big body receivers added to the mix?
I'm not so sure.
So I think it's a little bit – I wouldn't take him top eight.
Okay.
Let's go to our next guy.
I am a third-year running back.
Hooray, a third
year running back, yeah.
I have scored one
touchdown in my career.
I had
37 carries
in my first 27 games
and then 84 carries
in my last four games.
I
averaged 15.2 PPR fantasy points.
Yeah.
Zemir White.
Zemir White is currently having a tie.
All right, one touchdown.
And Jamie, he's going just ahead of David Montgomery.
He scored 13 touchdowns in 2023.
Who would you rather have, Zemir White or David Montgomery?
I go back and forth on these two guys. Montgomery
is the safer play, but White has
the better upside. And look,
this is a backfield. They had Alexander
Madison, Dylan Lobby, you know, comes in
as a rookie. But, you know, White should be the go-to
guy. And, you know, I go back to something
Heath Cummings said on one of our podcasts a couple
months ago, that it wouldn't be surprising if he
is among the league leaders, if not
leads the NFL and carries. You know, he's just going to get an opportunity to be fed. And so we've been
duped by these type of players before, small sample size. They come in, they get a starting
job, and they're just not good. And he's been a backup for a long time. But he was a backup to
Josh Jacobs, who's been a very successful running back. So this is his time to shine. They told us
basically this offseason how they managed him with their personnel that they want him to be the go-to guy.
So I think he's probably the better bet than David Montgomery
and has plenty more upside than David Montgomery.
All right.
Our next player is a quarterback.
All right.
So it's 1-1 so far.
Let's get our first clue.
I was QB 6 per game last season.
QB 5 if you don't count Joe Flacco.
I am QB 19 in ADP.
I will be playing for my third NFL team.
One of my teammates is Dan.
Go ahead.
Kirk Cousins?
Kirk Cousins?
Kirk Cousins.
And you know what?
Let's get the last clue in here just so we got to make sure we get all.
That's right.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
I am roughly the same age as Dan, but much cooler, obviously.
I thought that would give it away.
You know, I didn't even need that clue. That would have given it away, but I didn't need that clue.
How old are you, Dan?
30. Just turned 35. Oh, but I didn't need that. Cool. How old are you, Dan? 30.
Just turned 35.
Oh, so is Kirk Cousins.
Or he's going to be 35, I think.
Something like that.
There you go.
Yeah, Kirk Cousins, QB 19, coming off his best season, really,
is QB 6 per game, or at least one of his best seasons.
What do you think about that value?
I don't love it, personally.
I think the weapons are good around him but there's no
rushing upside there and I think Jamie made this point a little bit earlier and I really like this
point that we're it's you know we're all worried about Aaron Rodgers coming off of his Achilles
but his Achilles was a lot earlier and because this was pretty late in the season and Achilles
is really dangerous injury especially this late into a quarterback's career any player's career
so I think there should be a little bit more concern from an injury front there.
Last one.
It's two to one, Dan.
You guys are doing great.
These clues are awesome.
Here we go.
I am a sixth-year quarterback.
I have finished top 12 per game in four straight seasons.
In six points per pass in top 10 leagues.
I was – I've never finished top five per game.
I was the first overall pick
and also the ninth overall pick in the draft.
Jamie, Dan.
Yes, Jamie.
Oh, Jamie gets in there to tie it up.
Kyler Murray.
Damn it.
Kyler Murray.
You do that, Dan?
You had that one?
I had that one.
Once you did the first overall pick.
Damn.
Yeah, and he's played 19 games over his last two seasons.
He's averaged at least 30 rushing yards per game in every season of his career.
We talked about him this morning, Jamie, on our QB tiers.
I think he's definitely my favorite quarterback value,
arguably my favorite value in drafts.
Yeah, for me, it's him or Jaden Daniels.
Again, there's a tie in here, Cliff Kingsbury.
I think what we'll see from Murray is, you know,
better weapons from last year, you know, the addition of Marvin Harrison,
you know, Zay Jones for what that's worth, Trey Benson,
but Trey McBride as well.
The rushing total should be back there, you know,
and we've seen him be among the better running quarterbacks.
You know, will he get to that 800-mark threshold,
which, you know, is almost a lock to be a top-ten guy?
I don't think so, but his passing totals will certainly support that.
So, love this setup for him. Like you said, the value is fantastic. is almost a lock to be a top 10 guy. I don't think so, but his passing totals will certainly support that.
So love this setup for him.
Like you said, the value is fantastic.
You get him after Jordan Love based on ADP right before Brock Purdy,
so almost as the 10th quarterback coming off the board,
but has top five upside.
We've seen that and certainly has the ability to get there once again.
Okay, quick tiebreaker.
Who is going first in ADP, Caleb Williams or Justin Herbert?
CBS ADP.
Caleb Williams.
Dan, Justin Herbert.
Dan says Herbert.
Jamie says Williams.
It is Justin Herbert.
He's going five picks ahead.
Dan wins.
Name that player.
Way to go, sir.
This is honestly the best name I've got player of my lifetime.
Thank you to everybody who supported me along the way.
And really me. I mean, I'm the one who came up with
Play that Oscar music. Get me off of state.
All right.
We got one more segment left. It's fill in
the blank when we come back on Fantasy Football today.
Miller Lite.

one of the things we love to do on fantasy football today is to hear from you hear from
our audience so we reached out on social media got some fill in the blanks from the audience
and let's take a look at what they've gotten jamie and dan will fill in the blank all right from our audience. So we reached out on social media, got some fill-in-the-blanks from the audience,
and let's take a look at what they've gotten.
Jamie and Dan will fill in the blank.
All right, first remember, earlier in the show,
Dan did say that Zay Flowers was better than Puka Nakua,
but I think that was a mistake.
So let's get a Puka Nakua ranking.
Under this circumstance, Cooper Cup stays healthy the whole season.
Nakua finishes as wide receiver blank, and Stafford finishes as QB blank.
We'll go Jamie, then Dan.
Nakua finishes as wide receiver eight
and Stafford finishes as quarterback 16.
Nakua, wide receiver 13 for me.
Stafford, quarterback 15.
Wide receiver 13.
Dan, are you willing to say that Cooper Cup
will be better than Puka Nakua
if they both stay healthy?
I think if Cooper Cup stays healthy, now that means he's not playing hurt.
He's actually healthy.
I think he will outscore Pukunukuwa.
It's one of my bold predictions.
Wow.
Okay.
Next up, if Aaron Rodgers plays 17 games, Garrett Wilson will score blank touchdowns.
Are we assuming Devontae Adams is not a Jet?
Yeah.
Let's assume that first. Yeah.
Garrett Wilson will score nine touchdowns. And by the way, Cup being better than Nakua is bolder
than Dan's other bold prediction of B. John Robinson will be running back one. I still find
that very bold when you consider the fact that we got to the playoffs last year and Christian
McCaffrey was minus money to score a touchdown every game. I mean, he is clearly the best player in fantasy, but it's okay.
It's okay.
I would go with 11 touchdowns for Garrett Wilson, okay?
I'm going to go with 11 touchdowns for Garrett Wilson
if Rodgers can play all 17 games.
Okay, I am ranking Keenan Allen below DJ Moore because blank.
He's old.
Too old. Because he old. Too old.
Because he can't stay healthy.
He can stay healthy for some stretches,
but he's had issues.
Really, it's a lot of soft tissue issues,
which scare me the most.
So I think it's mostly an availability thing for me.
But DJ Moore,
because if you look at the separation rates,
by the way,
Keenan Allen was still like top five
in separation rates last year,
which is insane to look at.
But again, it's just,
can he stay healthy for all the games?
All right.
If you want another answer other than old and health, it's Caleb Williams is kind of
an improviser, downfield thrower.
Keenan Allen, not exactly the type of player that would seem to benefit from what Caleb
was in college.
So there's also that.
But really, it's he's old.
Brock Bauer's floor is blank.
His ceiling is blank.
And what we should expect is blank in PPR.
Jamie Brock Bowers, ceiling floor and expectation.
His floor is Michael Mayer, which is ugly.
His ceiling is Sam Laporta.
And you expect what?
In between.
Okay.
I'll say his, his floor is somewhere in the tight end 18 range.
Just can't get on the field for a lot of snaps.
They don't use a lot of two tight end sets.
And when they do, Mayer's playing because he's a better blocker.
But the ceiling is they design the offense around getting him the football in a lot of spots.
And it's a two-man offense, like Jamie said, between him and Adams.
Minshew has already proven that he can generate passing yards.
And so I think the ceiling is tight end six.
I have him as one of my targets at the tight end position.
I have three guys I really like drafting this year in fantasy at tight end.
It's Brock Bowers, Dalton Kincaid, and Kyle Pitts.
I was just hoping Dan was going to talk until he went off the air.
Yeah, I know, right?
I was like, that's supposed to be one of those things.
Next up on the Dan Schneier Show.
We appreciate it.
Thanks a lot to Dan and Amy.
