Starting point is 00:00:00 Sorry, rest of the NFL. Dak Prescott isn't going anywhere. Let's react to it. Dak Prescott back to the Cowboys here on Fantasy Football today in five. Adam Azer and Jamie Eisenberg with a breaking news pod slash five-minute episode for you to get you caught up on the latest news and advice. Follow us and stream us on Spotify. Okay, Jamie, so Dak Prescott at long last gets a long-term deal from the Cowboys.
Starting point is 00:00:22 He'll get $75 million in the first year. So this is great stuff. And he was, per game, the number one quarterback in fantasy last year. That was with leaving one game early with an injury. But how do you evaluate someone who was throwing 50 times per game last year in his first four games?
Starting point is 00:00:43 I love Dak Prescott. I hope he's healthy. You know, I think there's a chance here for him to be the number one quarterback in fantasy and a guy that you'll get at a little bit of a discount because of the concerns over his ankle injury, as long as he's back by training camp though, I think there's a chance for him to be one of the best values in any
Starting point is 00:01:02 position in, in fantasy this year. He, as you said, was, was off to a great start. Three of his first four starts over 32 fantasy points. The defense is obviously still a work in progress for the Cowboys, and the offense is set to put up a lot of points right away. You know, you look at this receiving core. That's the one thing I think we were robbed of last year was seeing 16 games
Starting point is 00:01:24 of C.D. Lamb, Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, hopefully healthy Blake Jarwin, and Ezekiel Elliott. It's hard to find a better set of skilled players than what Dak Prescott has. The offensive line bounces back. You know what he's capable of doing. So he probably will be in the mix of the top five guys, maybe just outside of it.
Starting point is 00:01:41 Right now I have him ranked sixth, assuming Deshaun Watson ends in a favorable spot. But I can certainly see myself drafting Dak Prescott or ranking Dak Prescott and drafting him as a top five quarterback next year. And it's easy to forget. Back in 2019 he was the number two quarterback behind only Lamar Jackson, way
Starting point is 00:01:57 behind Lamar Jackson, but he threw for 4,900 yards and 30 touchdowns. And that was so out of character for him that season that it was like, huh, can he repeat that? And boy, he, he really tore it up. So, okay. It'd be a borderline top five guy. And would you rather have Lamar Jackson or Dak Prescott? Right now I have it. Lamar Jackson, five Dak Prescott six, but if Dak shows that he's a hundred percent healthy, I have no problem switching that. But again, we'll, we'll let it sort of settle with what the Cardinals add to Kyler Murray, because I think there's a receiver still to go there where Deshaun Watson ends up.
Starting point is 00:02:30 It's pretty clear, I think, for most people, and I can only speak for myself, but Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen are one and two. And after that, Dak could be as high as three. Gotcha. What about Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup? Well, the first two guys, I think, are top 20 wide receivers. Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup? Well, the first two guys I think are top 20 wide receivers. Amari Cooper's tried and true at this point. He may not have the most consistent game in, game out type of numbers, but I think you know what you're getting with him. He's a very solid borderline number one fantasy wide receiver. I still think he'll command the most targets in this offense. CeeDee Lamb is going to push him. You know, we had that conversation on Monday's Fantasy Football Today podcast about best receiving course.
Starting point is 00:03:11 And Dallas certainly has that type of potential with those two guys. I think Michael Gallup in a contract here will be great for what the value that you're getting him. You know, there'll be some weeks in a three receiver league where he's definitely starting and maybe even some two receiver leagues, depending on the health of the other two guys. And then, you know, I feel about Blake Jarwin. You know, I do think if he bounces back at 100 percent, even with Dalton Schultz there, Jarwin can still be a borderline number one fantasy tight end. I think he would have had a big season last year if he had stayed healthy and Dak had stayed healthy.
Starting point is 00:03:38 OK, would you rather have. Ready for this. Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb or Dalvin Cook, Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen that's a great question I just came up with it the Vikings guy
Starting point is 00:03:57 okay Kirk Cousins and Dak Prescott you always lean towards Kirk Cousins I left the quarterbacks off that debate, I guess. I think you just look at it this way. It's a very fair comparison, but I do think that the receivers in Minnesota maybe have a slight edge,
Starting point is 00:04:17 and Dalvin Cook, I think, at this point, has a slight edge as well. Okay, what about Cooper and Lamb or Cup and Woods? Cooper and Lamb or Cup and Woods? Cooper and Lamb. Okay, Cooper, Lamb, and Dalton Schultz? Or sorry, Blake Jarwin? Or Cup, Woods, and Cam Akers? I'll take the Cowboys.
Starting point is 00:04:43 The Cowboys? You're saying that I don't make up the difference when I add Cam Akers and Blake Jarwood here you take the Cowboys I think those receivers
Starting point is 00:04:52 in Dallas are that good oh my goodness you crazy alright anyway well more craziness on fantasy football today a lot more on the Dak Prescott news
Starting point is 00:05:00 and team needs in the AFC we'll talk to you on fantasy football today and we'll talk to you tomorrow on Fantasy Football Today and Final.
