Starting point is 00:00:19 Rise to rewards with the BMO Eclipse Rise Visa Card. Terms and conditions apply. This is fantasy football today from CBS Sports. What a play! Can you believe this? No, I can't. It's time to dominate your fantasy league. Off to the races and he stays at his feet. This is gonna go the distance.
Starting point is 00:00:40 Now here's some combination of Adam, Dave, Jamie and Heath. So here's some combination of Adam, Dave, Jamie and Heath. We welcome you to our Super Bowl 59 recap and spinning it ahead to 2025. Let's just draft Eagles and Chiefs and see how it shakes out after Saquon Barkley, who would obviously be the number one pick. Adam Azer and Jamie Eisenberg on Super Bowl Sunday night, 10 45 PM. We welcome you to Fantasy Football today presented by Bet MGM. The sportsbook born in Vegas. There were so many things that were bad about tonight.
Starting point is 00:01:16 Just awful, awful. How's your food? I have such a stomach ache. I ate so much and the cookie cake really did me in. It just I'm a sucker for cookie cake. It was very good. I'm still like still eating. I just had like a little bit more right before I came on. I have tummy ache. Yeah. How about you? No, I didn't eat very much at all. I actually so poor Heath as I think everybody knows by now, he's my son's, my 12 year old son's
Starting point is 00:01:48 seventh grade basketball coach. So Heath lost two championships today. He lost the Superbowl for the Chiefs and they made their first ever tournament final. That's great. And they lost that one too. That's all right. You know, making the finals pretty good. And honestly, congratulations to the Eagles.
Starting point is 00:02:04 It wasn't an awful night for me because the Eagles won I couldn't care less was just wanted to see a good game We didn't get that and I think a lot of people were disappointed in the halftime show But you know look 40 to 22 Domination they had the ball for over 36 minutes almost 37 minutes 36 minutes and 58 seconds the first half was just an absolute joke and Just congratulations to the Eagles. They changed their offense after their week five by became the most run heavy team in football and did not lose the entire season except for the one game Jaylen hurts left with a concussion.
Starting point is 00:02:38 They were completely dominant. What were your takeaways from the game? You know, it's funny because you, uh, you're obviously gonna look at the score and you're gonna say, okay, 22 points by the chiefs. It's one of the most dominant defensive performances we've ever seen in this game, you know, and just Vic Fangio finally gets his first win against my homes. I'm sure he'll take it, you know, given the fact that the other losses were not as significant from a, um, you know, big game a one he did lose it one playoff game as a defense coordinator for the Dolphins But obviously he gets his you know due For beating you know one of the great quarterbacks and Jalen hurts who ends up being the Super Bowl MVP You know gets his revenge as well as Sirianni also for the Super Bowl lost two years ago
Starting point is 00:03:21 Where they usually could have won that one too, you know 38-35 Chiefs won that one. But yeah, it was just a complete dominant performance by that defense in the first half. Third time in his career Patrick Mahomes went scoreless in half, fewest passing yards he's ever had in his career in half and they could not do anything. They could literally do nothing offensively in the first half. Again, they got some production, third quarter touchdowns, Xavier Worthy, and then the 16 points in the fourth quarter. But my God, it was just a dominant, dominant. Look, the Eagles offense certainly played well, but the turnovers, the sacks, they just punished Patrick Mahomes. They punished that offensive line.
Starting point is 00:04:05 I mean, the, the, the interception, I think it was the, I don't think it was the Dijon interception. The second one, maybe the Zach Bond, like the 10 yard mean where Josh Sweat just pushed Tooney into Mahomes as if he wasn't there. You know how many blitzes the Eagles had today? None. Yeah. I'm reading now zero. I mean, I know at one point it was zero.
Starting point is 00:04:28 They said it on the broadcast and I don't think they blitzed the entire game. I'm looking at a next gen stats tweet from 25 minutes ago. The Eagles did not beat the... I saw some comments on social media like all the B bills would have performed. There was nobody beating Eagles today. No, this nobody. That's what really struck me when we did the show on Friday, just kind of digging into the numbers and just how good they are, how much better they were than the Chiefs and how not good the Chiefs were on paper. You know, they just were relying on a lot of Mahomes magic a lot of times. But
Starting point is 00:05:03 I think the Chiefs, actually the ironic thing is they were great against the run today and they did get some explosive plays. That was the thing that I really feared for them is they didn't have it, but they didn't have them when it mattered. It's 23 yards in the first half. They got some explosive plays late in the game. But I look at, okay, let me ask you this first of all, do you the the top three point scorers in this game in PPR six point per passing touchdown? Worthy would be one.
Starting point is 00:05:32 Quarterbacks too? Yeah. Oh uh Worthy, Mahomes and Hertz. Hertz actually did out score Mahomes. Mahomes had a pretty big one. Yeah yeah so. So worthy has scored 35 points, I think. And yeah, eight, eight, almost 36, eight catches, 157 yards, two touchdowns, 50 yard catch. Had some big plays. Um, Jalen hurts 31. He had a, he had 72 rushing yards and a touchdown. Patrick Mahomes, 28. You only got 25 rushing yards. And remember we were talking about Xavier worthy going over the rushing prop. I we were talking about Xavier Worthy going over the rushing prop? I'm glad I did not look at that one because he did not have a carry in this game. Yeah. I know Dave gave this prop. I agree with him. The rush attempts from Holmes,
Starting point is 00:06:14 I know he did factor in maybe some kneel downs. I only finished with four. So he was running for his life. He just didn't get past the last scrimmage a lot when he was doing it. Yeah. Most rushing yards ever by a quarterback in the Superbowl by the way for uh, Jalen Hurts too. Oh, wow. Um, so he, he was, he was solid. You know, the interception was unfortunate, but it was almost like a punt, you know, so, um, yeah, I mean, you know, pretty, pretty solid game from all around though. The, the, the one performance really that surprised me and look, even Barkley had a good fantasy day with the six for 40 from a receiving standpoint, you know, pretty pretty solid game from all around though the one performance really that surprised me and look even Barkley had
Starting point is 00:06:45 A good fantasy day with the six for forty from a receiving standpoint, you know, so he ends up with fifteen point seven PPR points Um, I thought Dallas Goddard would be more involved. I really did Yeah, once again, they only through 22 passes. Well pick it through one pass. So 23 passes And that was that's pretty much how things went for the Eagles. This was a different scenario. This was just they didn't have to throw And that was, that's pretty much how things went for the Eagles. This was a different scenario. This was just, they didn't have to throw, uh, you know, it bar, it's not like Bartholomew was running away from everybody, but he still had 25 carries in this game. Um, yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:12 And, uh, Devante Smith, you know, I thought he might have a good game, but it came in a way that was completely unlike what I expected. The one touchdown he had was not against the slot cornerback. It was against Watson was on a deep ball. Pretty sure he was lined up outside, but either way, I wasn't trying to say that the Chiefs weren't good. They are obviously really good, but they just don't measure up with this team. This Eagles team is a lot better than the Chiefs defensive line, destroy the Chiefs offensive line. And I hope, Jamie, I hope this motivates the Chiefs to upgrade offensively. Unfortunately, the best offensive lineman is a free agent. I
Starting point is 00:07:47 don't know that they have to go get a wide receiver. Maybe worthy is going to break out. Their guard, Trey Smith. Oh, Cree Humphrey is their best offensive lineman. Okay. They have, what's the hell is the name of their guard? Do any? No, no, sorry. Their right guard?
Starting point is 00:08:06 Trey Smith. Yeah, Trey Smith. He's the number two ranked free agent behind T Higgins for PFF. So he's a free agent, you know, now. And I hope they can keep him. But they got they got to be better offensively. They got to be more explosive. They don't throw downfield enough. They don't create big plays. Yeah. I'm not disagreeing with you at all, but I mean, you think about what they had coming into the season.
Starting point is 00:08:34 They spent a first round pick on a wide receiver. They signed Marquise Brown. They had Rashi Rice coming off a pretty solid rookie season. They thought they're still going to have Kelsey back. They had one of the more explosive running backs. It all fell apart. Yeah. It all fell apart.
Starting point is 00:08:50 I mean, you know, you, you, you lose players like that. It's amazing that they get to the point that they're at, you know, that just shows you how good Reed is, how good my home is, how good spags is, how good the defense is. You know, so, um, having those guys now back next year, you know, we'll, we'll see what they do in terms of Marquise Brown, but you're getting this Xavier Worthy, who from week 11 on showed he could play in this league and be a pretty significant contributor. I said something on X, Twitter, whatever, Xavier Worthy is going to be fun next year and I got some, oh, he did it against backups.
Starting point is 00:09:20 Okay, he's been doing this for a couple of weeks now and has the potential to do this consistently every couple of weeks. And then Rashi Rice we saw first two weeks this season, we saw what he did last year, you know, so Kelsey back, Kelsey not back. They have speed and that's going to change things if they can protect Mahomes. Now, that's the thing, you know, they've been trying to, you know, fix their offensive line for a few years now, you know, Joanne Taylor here, Malcolm Brown, you know, bringing guys and trying to find answers. You know, you got to hope that it works and then they protect my homes. I mean, they're still gonna be scary. Oh, for sure. Look, they're the Chiefs. They might end, they might go into the years the Super Bowl favorites. But what I want to, but the point I'm trying to make is I know
Starting point is 00:10:06 getting Rashid Rice will be great. But Rashid Rice is a short area guy, does a lot after the catch. This version of Xavier Worthy, you know, Xavier Worthy had four catches in the regular season of 20 or more yards. Do you know how many he had today? I honestly don't. But if he had at least one today, and that would give him at least four in the playoffs because he went into the playoffs with three catches of 20 or more yards. We need to see the Chiefs throw the ball downfield more. I really think so because if people are going to hang their head there, people are going to make a bet on Patrick Mahomes as you know, QB six or something.
Starting point is 00:10:41 Is that where we have him? QB six? Three is for me. Or is it seven? That's where he is for me. Or is it 7? That's 6. If people are going to make a bet on Mahomes as QB6, I just don't think he can dink and dunk like this. They've got to stretch the field a little bit more. Obviously, Kelsey is not what he used to be. Rishi Rice coming off a big injury.
Starting point is 00:11:01 We need to see this version of Xavier Worthy, the big playmaker. I think that would really help. But again, you know, we're talking about a rookie wide receiver. Yeah. Think about Rice's arc. Think about Tyree Kill's arc. You know, I mean, you know, this is what these guys do in this read system and they grow. You know, year two was looking like it was going to be huge for Rice. Year two was huge for Tyree Kill.
Starting point is 00:11:23 You know, so I hope that's the case for him. Granted, there's going to be huge for Rice. Your two was huge for Tyreekill. So I hope that's the case for him. Granted, there's going to be some changes. But I also do think, OK, now which version of the Chiefs do we get? Do we get, we just need to get to the playoffs? Do we get Mahomes on a mission? Do we get combination of both? Run game, how much does that matter?
Starting point is 00:11:45 So there's gonna be a lot of intrigue, I think, with this Chiefs team. And I don't think they're done adding to their offense. Again, they've shown you when they need to go get somebody, right or wrong, whoever the case may be, okay, we need a receiver, they go get Hopkins. We need a receiver in the offseason, go get Marquise Brown. This is an aggressive front offense, front office. And you know, they may add another piece. We should talk a little bit more about the Eagles.
Starting point is 00:12:12 And we'll do that as we do this mock draft. We'll do a mock draft of just Chiefs and Eagles and see how it looks. Who's going to be I'm curious to see who the second pick will be in this draft of just Chiefs and Eagles. And we're going to do that in a little bit. And Devontae Smith, obviously, he's so frustrating because he's so good. There's obviously a world where Devontae Smith could be just great. And I don't know if it's going to happen.
Starting point is 00:12:39 You know, he played two games this year in the regular season with a fully healthy Goddard and AJ Brown. I think that's it. I'm looking at the game log now. I think it was only two games and he did nothing in those games. All right, we'll be right back. We got to take a break. We'll be right back on fantasy football today. When we come back, we'll, we'll do a little mock draft here on fantasy football today. Do you win any Super Bowl squares? I've never done one in my life. What? Why? I don't know. So weird. Schaefer, how about you? You win any squares? No, no, I didn't even do any. The only one that I suggested is the the tennis, you and Dan's tennis bet, that it was what, six nothing?
Starting point is 00:13:26 I said you guys should bet the square to be six zero. And it actually was six zero at one point, and I texted you guys, but. Okay, the first set was six two. Second set was six oh, okay? Like, give me a little bit of credit. Well, you couldn't have hedged and did both, but they were both lost, so.
Starting point is 00:13:43 My sister won the first and the third quarter. I never win these things anymore, but they're both lost. So my sister won the first and the third quarter. I never win these things anymore, but they're always fun. All right. Saquon Barkley will be the first. Who's the second pick? We're doing this collectively. Yeah, we can talk it out.
Starting point is 00:14:31 I mean, if we're talking 2025 fantasy value, it's Rashi Rice. I mean, I don't think I agree. Oh no, I'm sorry. It's AJ Brown. Excuse me. Yeah, I don't know why I skipped on him. I skipped him too.
Starting point is 00:14:51 It is AJ Brown. I don't think I agree with Rice being three. I think I'm going to go Jalen Hurts three. That thing that's just you and I having a different philosophy on how we draft players. So I would not take the fifth quarterback in my rankings ahead of a guy who I was a top 12 wide receiver. I don't even wow. Top 12. I think that Xavier worthy might be could could easily be a better player than Rishi Rice and could easily have a better season than Rishi Rice. You said something earlier, which I agree with, and especially if Kelsey's gone short
Starting point is 00:15:31 area target, you know, so I'm not going to be surprised when they both have big seasons. Yeah, I mean, this is one of those situations where if I'm doing rankings, I'm probably I'm putting Hertz ahead. The way I draft, I'm probably not taking Hertz. And I'm more likely to have Rishi Rice on my team. But I do think that I would have Jalen Hertz as the third highest ranked player among these two teams because he's so consistent and he's so good.
Starting point is 00:16:04 And there's really not much of a question mark there. They just have to throw the ball more. And I'm pretty sure they will. It was like comically low, their pass rate. I feel like they'll definitely throw the ball more. So I would take hurts over Rasheer Rice. I will have more questions about Rice coming off the injury than you will.
Starting point is 00:16:19 Like that's just where I'm at with these guys and major leg injuries, even when they say they're 100%. I don't really feel like they are. All right. So Barclay Brown for you, it's rice for me, it's hurts. Who's four for you? It hurts.
Starting point is 00:16:34 Yeah, I think it would have to be rice. Okay. Yeah. So, so rice hurts three, four, uh, who's five? This is where it's interesting. Cause now we have three guys. I think they're in a similar range of Pacheco Smith, the Monte Smith and Xavier worthy. I'm going to check out.
Starting point is 00:16:57 If he's, if he's right and there's no one of significance there, I would agree with you. If they bring in somebody else or even bring back Kareem Hunt for that matter, I will probably go Worthy Smith Pacheco. Worthy Smith Pacheco. Okay. Wait a second, you're putting Devontae Smith in this group? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:22 I don't think he's earned it. I mean, to say he hasn't earned it. Over my homes. Yeah. Again, I'm not taking QB six over guys that I think could still be top 24 at their position. I still think that, look, Devontae Smith can have these types of games like he had today when everybody's healthy. Not dominant, but still very, very good.
Starting point is 00:17:45 I mean, it was one big catch. Okay. But it's four for 69 in a touchdown. Like that's a solid number two receiver with a guy of his upside. Then you factor in, well, AJ Brown misses time and Dallas Goddard misses time. Yeah. But when they don't miss time, he's a number three, he's barely a number. When's the last time in the last three seasons we haven't seen those two guys miss significant time? But when's the last time in the last two seasons that he's been worthy of, that he's been a top 24 wide receiver? He hasn't been.
Starting point is 00:18:14 We were drafting him as one. We were wrong. Two years ago. I know we were terribly wrong. He was a bust two years ago. I don't want to be- But he was coming off a very solid 2022 season when they went to the Super Bowl and he was a big part of it. And everything changed when Goddard got hurt because he was pretty quiet before Goddard got hurt. And then what happened this year? Goddard got hurt again. But he didn't help Devontae Smith. Like I said, we have that many chances. That was battling some injuries too. I want to believe. Yeah. I mean, there's such obvious injury upside. All right. So you said,
Starting point is 00:18:50 you said Barkley Brown, Rice hurts. Worthy. What was it? Worthy Smith, Pacheco for you. Worthy Smith, Pacheco. If you're worthy, okay. I'm going to consider them all in a similar range. Okay, I'm going to. I would consider them all in a similar range. Man, I have a very different here. I would go Pacheco, Worthy, Mahomes, Smith, Kelsey Goddard. What do you got for the last three, which is Mahomes and the tight ends? Mahomes, Kelsey got it.
Starting point is 00:19:28 Okay. So, you're much higher. Here's an interesting one. If Kelsey retires and they don't add anybody until like a day three tight end, is Noah Gregg that guy. I feel like you have to draft him as a, you know, tight end 12 or something like that, just in case. So no gray or Dalton Kincaid gray, no gray or cow pits. Great.
Starting point is 00:19:58 I'm I'm I'm with you. Yeah. No gray or Goddard gray. Yeah. There's not a ton of upside with Goddard. I mean, look, again, I don't totally disagree. This is a guy that basically averaged 10 PPR points per game, right? Kind of feels like that's where he was.
Starting point is 00:20:18 He had some huge games in the beginning of the season when AJ Brown was out. And he had some huge games in the playoffs when everybody was there and Brown was doing nothing. Big game against backers, big game against the commanders. Yeah. 10.4 points per game. And that I think, let me see, is there one game, one game where he played five, so it's actually pretty skewed.
Starting point is 00:20:41 He played 5% of the snaps in week five, had one target, no catches. Only played 19% of snaps in week 18, but actually had 9.5 PPR fantasy points. So it's... Got her? Yeah. That was his first game back after four games. Right. He played that without Devontae Smith, without AJ Brown, also without Jalen Hurts. But it's, you know, it's a lot of, of kind of nothing games, but that 10 points per game is good. It's top 12 for a tight end, but it's nothing too special. He finishes his tight end 10 per game at 10.4 PPR fantasy points per game. He's another
Starting point is 00:21:18 guy like if Brown and Smith are there every game, Goddard's going to be probably waiver wire, but they won't be, you know, it probably won't be. I think the thing that we got to figure out though is, again, the the 2000 yard follow-up season has not been great. And so if the run game is not working, where do they go? Do they go whoever the number two running back is and give that person more carries? Is it a gain wall type or is it an upgrade over that? So do they throw the ball maybe 25
Starting point is 00:21:58 times to now 35 times because they have to? Yeah. No. Well, I don't think they'll get to 35, but I think 30 would be great. If they could just average 30 pass attempts per game. That would be that would be really big. You know, I don't know exactly how many they averaged, but I'm guessing with something like 27. Yeah. So I could look that up too. All right. Final thoughts.
Starting point is 00:22:19 My final thoughts from these two teams is that Xavier worthy is going to be an extremely exciting player to draft. He might start to go too high, but I'm probably going to be a believer. I wish we had seen Worthy and Rice on the field at the same, like the first three games of the season. What are you going to take away from that from Worthy? But right now, I feel pretty high on Xavier Worthy. I think he's developing. We didn't even see what he's really good at in uh in his rookie season and he had a strong year so um it's another reason why like I would draft him ahead of Mahomes is because if Mahomes has a big year well you'll you'll get that with worthy you know you won't completely miss out so uh that my final thought
Starting point is 00:23:01 is that he's going to be the most, the most interesting, uh, the most interesting man in the, in this fantasy universe of these two teams. Of the sophomore wide receivers, because it's now looking like a pretty incredible class. Like we thought you got Malik neighbors is going to get drafted first, most likely. Brian Thomas Jr. is going to get drafted second, most likely. There may be some conversation of McConkey or Marvin Harrison Jr. as the third guy. I think they're three and four in some order. Right? Yeah. Is worthy now five ahead of a doonze. For me is yes. If Keenan Allen is back, I think for sure. If Keenan Allen's not back and you got Ben Johnson taking over, that's a really good
Starting point is 00:23:46 question. I think yes. I think he will be. You think Odunze over Worthy? No, I think Worthy over Odunze. I think that's how it's going to get drafted. Now who's going to end up being better? That's exciting.
Starting point is 00:24:00 Yeah. That's awesome. And then you have, look, there's another guy that I think we had to put in the mix. If Chris Godwin's gone, where does Daly Macmillan go? I would guess after, but it's a great question. I mean, he closed the season as a monster. Actually, I think he would go ahead of Odunze. I think so too.
Starting point is 00:24:21 It'd be very close though. Woo. So that's what, six or seven receivers? That's seven. Let's go. Then you throw Bowers in there. Yeah. And then you'll have some sleepers and you'll have a Keon Coleman sleeper. Yeah. That might be it. All right. All right, folks. I hope you enjoy the show. Hope you had a great Super Bowl. A little not too sleepy for work tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:24:50 We will be back on, or on Monday. Most of you probably are listening to this on Monday. We will be back on Wednesday with another edition of Fantasy Football Today. For Jamie, I am Adam. Have a great day. Talk to you then. Bye bye.
Starting point is 00:25:02 Bye bye. Bye bye. Bye bye. Bye bye. Bye bye. Have a great day. Talk to you then.
