Starting point is 00:00:00 The best stashes and handcuffs in fantasy football in 2026 right now on FFT Express. And welcome, everybody. I'm Adam Azer with Heath Cummings. Let's get right to it. Who are some of your favorite stashes? So I think this, and I hate to do this at the start, but there's always like this question of what exactly are you talking about? Assuming that we are talking about running backs that have, and I should have asked you this probably earlier, that have no value unless the starter gets hurt, then I think that the best backup running backs are, and my favorite is Mike Washington. I loved what he showed.
Starting point is 00:00:42 And maybe he will have some value. We've seen Kubiak use a two-back system in the past. Washington popped in his first preseason appearance. He was one of the stars of the combine running a 4-340 at like 220 pounds. He was really good on an awful Arkansas team in college. and he has no competition for the job. So if that is the qualification, best backup running backs who have no value unless the starter gets hurt,
Starting point is 00:01:09 I would say Mike Washington. I would also say, though, if you're just talking about stashes at the running back position, I think the best one is Zach Charbonnet, because he's going to start the year. We think still on Pup, but there's been some talk that he could be ready for week one. That's probably not going to happen.
Starting point is 00:01:24 But you're probably drafting him as a stash just until he comes back. And I think that the difference between Charbonnet and all the other backup running backs who may not have any value week one is that we don't have to wait for an injury. We just have to wait for his to heal. Yeah, great point. And I guess we can just talk about strict handcuffs here. And then if you want to talk about stashes, it could be at any position. It doesn't have to just be running backs. But who is in that Mike Washington category for you?
Starting point is 00:01:52 So Dylan Sampson also popped in the first preseason game, Brian Robinson, Tank Biggs, Begs, be probably Isaiah Pacheco, assuming he's healthy, Marshaun Lloyd, who may turn out to not be a stash if something happens to Josh Jacobs, Jonah Coleman, although he's kind of a tier below and what separates Jonah Coleman for the rest of him is, and the guys after Jonah Coleman as well, is that if something happens to J.K. Dobbins, I don't think we're getting workhorse Jonah Coleman. I don't think Jonah Coleman's getting the work that R.J. Harvey did last year. I think R.J. Harvey will stay in his role, perhaps even see his role grow just a little. bit. And so I would put Jonah Coleman, Emmett Johnson, Braylon Allen, kind of in that second
Starting point is 00:02:34 tier of stashes. Yeah, I think this is not the first time I've disagreed with someone on this, but I don't know that I just, that I agree on Dylan Samson. I think, I think they'll use Rahim Sanders enough if, uh, Quinchan Junkins gets hurt. I'm just trying to look at. Maybe they'll cut Racine Sanders, but there was, there was a report from Bradson. counts camp that they've been so unimpressed with the running backs other than Samson and Judkins that they might be in the market for one if the right one gets cut. So that could either lend itself to your point that they want somebody else in that
Starting point is 00:03:13 room or to my point that Dylan Samson's the clear number two. Yeah, I'm on the air here. I'm not sure that Dylan Samson, that they're going to trust him to really carry the rock enough and he might be a little bit too small. That's just my personal take. But Sanders, I mean, just real quick on Rahim Sanders, even though no one asks, I think he has the worst nickname on Earth. Like, that man should not be a nickname Brockett. It's just, it doesn't make any sense.
Starting point is 00:03:39 Okay. Let's take a quick break here and we'll talk about some other running backs and some stashes on Fantasy Football Today Express. All right. Did you mention Ray Davis, Heath? I did not. I haven't been, like Ray Davis has shown some good things. But Ty Johnson still exists, right? Yeah, he'd be the third downback.
Starting point is 00:04:02 Ty Johnson plays more than we want him to when James Cook is healthy. But James Cook pretty much never plays on third down and he's, you know, first round pick. Ray Davis would pretty much never play on third down, but I think he'd be pretty good if Cook got hurt. I am not as confident that he would be pretty good. And I'm not as confident that Ty Johnson wouldn't get more carries if James Cook was out. Not more carries than Ray Davis, but more carries than he will. with James Cook healthy. Right.
Starting point is 00:04:31 Okay. Any stashes that aren't handcuffs that maybe could just like work their way into a job? Well, I mean, the first one is not a work his way into a job, but I think there's a very good chance that we're drafting Jordan Tyson as a stash. So he is the best stash. Hopefully, Alec Pierce is not a stash. I think I really am excited about the potential of Chris Bell, becoming the number one wide receiver this season, maybe in the second half in Miami.
Starting point is 00:05:04 And it was very encouraging that he came off of the in-off eye list during camp and didn't open the season on Pup. So he would be a guy that often doesn't even get drafted, but it would definitely be on my stashed list. I think if you're looking at stashes at wide receivers, it has to be the rookies. So it seems like Jacoby Lane's kind of already earning his role It seems like Malachi Fields is as well.
Starting point is 00:05:30 The Jean Stribling, kind of the same thing. Denzel Boston's already a starter, but Omar Cooper and Antonio Williams, I think, are both stashes. And especially Williams, who is a guy that I liked a lot and has a couple of 30-plus-year-old wide receivers ahead of him. He could actually be the rare handcuff wide receiver. And then I got into a little disagreement yesterday on Twitter about Terrence Ferguson. and not really understanding the theory of drafting him in a regular managed redraft league. And I do think the one case you could make is Puka's got some suspension and injury concerns. Devante Adams is old and got hurt last year.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Maybe Terrence Ferguson is a handcuffed tied in that's actually a handcuffed to a wide receiver. I understand exactly what you're saying there. And I think Caleb Douglas needs to be part of the wide receiver. receiver conversation here. I know you mentioned Chris Bell. I'm sure you're taking Douglas ahead of him. I don't know if you consider Douglas a stash. I do.
Starting point is 00:06:33 I mean, there's like no way I'm putting him in my lineup early in the season, unless he pops in week one. Yeah, I wasn't. I think he's going to be a starter week one. So I wasn't considering guys that I thought we're starting for their team week one. Yeah, I just don't, I don't see him starting for fantasy teams week one. That's going to be like a 1% started.
Starting point is 00:06:48 Well, that's a much longer list if we're expanding it to guys who are going to start for their own team, but not for fantasy teams. Like who? Who do you think? Well, I mean, at the running back position, then we're now including Kyle Menongai and Blake Corum. And I would say probably one of Chuba Hubbard or Jonathan Brooks at the wide receiver position. We're including the Kai Lemon. I can make it, I can make it a better conversation.
Starting point is 00:07:18 Late round pick that you just want to put on your bench and see what happens. Casey Concepciona, my Kai Lemon. Okay. And so like Douglas is even later than those guys, right? Oh, yeah. What do you think about Christian Kirk? Are we completely forgetting about him? I don't think about Christian Kirk. Were you a Christian Kirk guy last year?
Starting point is 00:07:44 Yes, I was. Okay. Actually, yeah. I'm just because Evans, like, I'm an Evans guy, but he got hurt yesterday. So they're all hurt. Everyone's hurt. We keep saying stribling, but I'd be afraid that to Marcus Robinson or Christian Kirk would work in there too much.
Starting point is 00:08:00 Well, I think that they might play. I don't think there's any reason to expect that Christian Kirk's going to be better than Devo Samuel. Maybe he will be. But Devo's been better for pretty much their entire careers except for maybe one season. And so I would kind of go that it's Evans and then it's Debo and then it's stribling in terms of wide receivers that might matter in that offense. And there's been a lot of buzz about DeMarcus Robinson.
Starting point is 00:08:30 I almost put Stripling on the stash list because I'm not sure that he's going to start week one if everybody's healthy. But who knows how long or if everyone will be healthy. Yeah. I mean, I think stribling kind of falls into the category. You know, he's probably going to be still a fairly late round pick. Oh, you never know. Last question.
Starting point is 00:08:49 We're on the air now for eight minutes and 46 seconds. I've listened to about eight minutes and 44 of it. I may have missed this. did you mention a Christian McCaffrey handcuff? Do you have any clarity on that situation? As of this second, and I'm not drafting a Christian McCaffrey handcuff, because I don't know if the guy who it's going to be will be healthy when it's time for them to be healthy.
Starting point is 00:09:10 And I don't know which one it is really. But as of right now, my guess would be Kalon Black. He was back at practice, and he was, I saw him running in a scrimmage with the football. And so I guess him. for now. Maybe in a week that we say it's Jordan James and a week later it may be Zamir White, did they sign him maybe?
Starting point is 00:09:33 They've got a stable of running backs. Yes, they did sign him. They have Sincere McCormick and Isaac Arendo and Jordan James and Kailon Black and Patrick Taylor. They won't have all of them. Yeah, but it's tough. Black is currently
Starting point is 00:09:50 my choice. Good to know. Thank you to Heath Cummings and to all you for watching and listening and we'll talk to you next time on fantasy football at a express
