Starting point is 00:00:00 An early look at the waiver wire right now on Fantasy Football Today Express. What's up? Welcome. We're talking about the week three waiver wire. Remember, we'll have a full show, an hour or more on Tuesday morning to talk about all of this. And we have two more games tonight, which hopefully, well, actually I'm going to say hopefully don't present us with good waiver wire opportunities. That usually means someone got injured. But Jamie, who's the headliner on the waiver wire this week? Oh, boy. The headliner, I guess you'd probably go Juan Johnson, if you're looking at the best player who could help fantasy managers the most. But this is a weird week because there's not a lot of great running back options.
Starting point is 00:00:39 There's a lot of interesting wide receiver options. And we know that there is at least one manager, potentially two in every league chasing quarterbacks at this point. So it's one of those very balanced waiver wires as opposed to like one standout star. Yeah, and there's a big star in Super Flex leagues, obviously, and Jake Browning. And how much of your fab are you unloading on that one for Superflex? I mean, just in the case of the borough manager and probably anybody that's not secure at their quarterback position, you can make a case to unload all of it. You know, it's just a player that can be a starter for you doesn't always come along very often. And so at that position, he's clearly not the first quarterback injury.
Starting point is 00:01:21 He's not even the only quarterback injury this week. So, you know, you may be smart about it and say, okay, I'm not going to. spend all of my fab on Jake Browning, and I'm going to kind of cobble this together and maybe just pick up to Rod Taylor. Maybe somebody did not pick up Mac Jones. You drop Spencer Rattler League. I don't think that's a rarity that there's going to be, you know, some of these managers that drafted third quarterbacks, fourth quarterbacks that are dealing with some, you know,
Starting point is 00:01:43 roster constraints and having to make some moves. So it's a case-by-case basis. But, yes, in the column I didn't make the case that if you need to find a quarterback that averaged over 20 points per game in the last time that we saw him as a starter, 22 points per game, but for that matter. You can make a case to go spend all of it on on Jake Barney. By the way, a quick aside, in a full PPR league,
Starting point is 00:02:05 six point per passing touchdown, what would you rather have tonight? Mike Evans and Gino Smith or Nico Collins and a mecca abuca? Mike Evans and Gino Smith. Do you think they will, Mike Evans and Gino Smith will be at least four points better
Starting point is 00:02:21 than Nico Collins and a mecca abuka? Yes. Then you are going to lose to Thomas Schaefer in the Super Flex League. I fully anticipate that. It's 50-50. We've got the odds at 50-50 right now. Ooh, I am excited for this Monday night matchup.
Starting point is 00:02:35 Let me ask you about Daniel Jones. I want to say what he scored yesterday against the Broncos would have been something like third or fourth best against them all year last year. Most of the guys who did better than him were like Burrow, Allen, I think Lamar Jackson, James Winston was one of them. But about 25 fantasy points for Daniel Jones
Starting point is 00:02:54 against the Denver Broncos. is he the Baker Mayfield? Are you buying into it? Cautiously. You know, I think you have to at this point. You know, I don't know if you want to call him the Baker Mayfield or the Sam Donald. You know, just based on, I don't think he's going to get as high as, you know, as good as a performer as Baker Mayfield. But I think you can get into that number one range, you know, based on what we've seen through two games.
Starting point is 00:03:17 Now, granted, it is two games. It's two games at home. But you noted one of those is against the Denver Broncos. So to see him come after that Dolphins game. and, you know, play competent. They haven't punted yet. The Colts have, you know, so their offense is clearly doing a nice job so far. And I don't think we've seen the full potential of it.
Starting point is 00:03:35 You know, we've seen one good game from Michael Pittman. We haven't seen Josh Downs, I think, have, you know, the type of performance that he's capable of yet. Tyler Warren's yet to score touchdown. And Jonathan Taylor's had some good numbers, just not great numbers yet. So there's still another gear, I think, that they can get to. It's going to be fun to see what happens in week three on the road against the Titans, which, you know, their defense has been sort of hit or missed
Starting point is 00:03:54 the first two weeks of the season. So Daniel Jones is the number one quarterback to get. So Superflex, two quarterback leagues, you're looking at Jake Browning, most likely as the best option. One quarterback leagues, like I have Borough in, I think, three or four leagues, he's going to be the guy I go get, you know, and hopefully this Daniel Jones' renaissance is something that can, you know, carry on for the rest of the year. Any other quarterbacks you like on the waiver wire?
Starting point is 00:04:15 So the priority list I have it right now, and the column should be up on the site probably by the time you're listening to this. So just so everybody's aware that's, you know, we're doing this for the first time on Mondays. I'm getting the column up Monday afternoons as well. So you can get a little bit ahead of it. The order I have right now, and that could change tomorrow based on some of our conversations, but Jones 1, Browning 2, Bryce Young 3, Rogers 4. It's a long list. 2-05, Stafford 6, Darnold 7, Russell Wilson, 8, Rattler 9, Mack Jones 10, Tarot Taylor 11, and Dylan Gabriel 12. Yeah, you're never going to be short of quarterback options. How about running back options?
Starting point is 00:04:50 We're often short of those. So this is one where there's not exactly a lot of great options here. So we have two injuries at the position for this week. One is significant in Austin Echler. The other one, we don't know the severity yet, Aaron Jones, suffering the hamstring injury. So in the case of the commanders, this is, I think, the first place you look.
Starting point is 00:05:06 And I'm going to lean slightly towards Jeremy McNichols ahead of Chris Rodriguez. And I know that probably sounds strange because Rodriguez was potentially in the mix to be the starter. But I think based on what they've showed us, the first two games of Rodriguez being inactive as a healthy scratch, he's probably the backup to Jacori-Krosky Merritt, who hopefully will take a big role in the passing game, but that remains to be seen.
Starting point is 00:05:24 I think McNichols, at least based on what we've seen in the last couple of years, with him on the, I'm sorry, last year and the start of this season, he's going to fill that Echler role until maybe Chase Edmund, so they just signed it today, has a chance to maybe play. But I wouldn't spend a lot of fab on either one of these guys just until we see what happens. But I give McNichols a slight edge. Okay, Basial Tutin's 75% roster, definitely pick him up if he's available.
Starting point is 00:05:46 Let's take a break and talk about wide-resi. And Stadaboo and Trey Benson. I mean, there's a lot of guys that may not be on our site that you can find another site. So I think, again, we'll keep hitting this point home. You'll see in the column, we will talk about this on the full-length episode. We cover 10 team leagues through 16 team leagues. I think, you know, that's one benefit of our show is we try to give you all aspects of what the way where I could be at every position. And, yeah, and we will do that extensively tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:06:11 We'll be right back on Fantasy Football Today Express with wide receivers and tight ends. Starting point is 00:06:43 or go to explorevolvo.com. All right, wide receivers last week we were talking about. Well, before we get there, just a couple other running back names to mention. I think you want to take a look at Taj Spears now. He's two weeks away from potentially coming back. Stash him if you can. Blake Corum, I know it was garbage time, but Sean McVeigh had this quote about quorum after the game. He said, I was really pleased with Blake.
Starting point is 00:07:05 He's explosive. He's a good football player. I have a lot of trust in him. And then we'll continue to see that moving forward. So I thought that was good today. I don't know if we have a Kyron Williams problem yet, but we should be having a Blake quorum discussion about adding him. And then Tyler Al Jir has got 36.
Starting point is 00:07:18 carries in the first two games that's hard to overlook as well that he's gonna you know i'm sorry not 36 carries he has 26 carries in the first two games um so he's not going away you know he's not just a backup at this point and he's clearly a potential superstar if something happens to bison robinson apparently it's bejean again so that's what i guess that's what they said in the broadcast we'll get to the bottom of it wide receivers yeah some of the guys that we talked about last week are still available this week who are your favorite wide receivers do you yet. I have is the top five guys against another long list, but I'll save the list for tomorrow. So the top five guys for me would be Wondell Robinson 1, uh, Cedric Tillman 2, Rashid Chaheed
Starting point is 00:07:58 3, Troy Franklin, 4, Don Tavian Wicks, Romeo Dobbs, 5, the combination of the Packers guys, five. Where's my guy, Christian Kirk? So Kirk is below these guys just because the fact that he hasn't been practicing yet, I think you can get him a little bit easier off the waiver wire as opposed to making him a huge priority. So he's on the list. So I kind of like, I was like, where do I want to put the Packers guys in relation to who's got a chance to be the most successful, most prominent? And I also think, first off, I'm always a little hesitant when there's still a game to be played. So we see something happen in tonight's game.
Starting point is 00:08:33 You know, Higgins does nothing again. Noel does nothing again. We get a report, hey, Kirk is going to start to practice this week. He'll bump up a few spots. Gotcha. Okay. Why Wondale won off his career game? two reasons. One, this is a guy that had 93 catches and 140 targets last year. He's got 18 targets to the first two weeks of the season this year. And maybe the, however long he starts, Russell Wilson is going to allow him because of how Russell plays and how this offense will develop a few more opportunities down the field. So we have a two game sample size of him with Russ. One of these is historic. You know, so I don't necessarily want to chase it. But I think in case of all these guys, like they're all getting targets, you know, Tillman's got, I think, uh,
Starting point is 00:09:17 he's got 15 targets in the first two games of the season both him and she heat if you look at their last stretch of games going back to last year very successful for both of them and they're both getting opportunities uh in the case of franklin you know finally getting you know opportunity to play and i think taking advantage of it and that connection with bow necks they're they're all very similar i i think like you know we discussed this with the tight ends last week like if you miss on fanning and johnson it didn't pan out but you know wait for henry wait for strange you know you could still get maybe some good production from those guys i think it's almost like a dealer's choice with these receivers like they're all right now coming off strong performances or strong starts this season yeah i said tilman yesterday on cbs sports hq i think it's i think the time's gonna be pretty close to up for joe flacco they're both the fansky didn't hit at that today i know but they're about to be o and four they got green bay in detroit next and i'm not saying it's going to be in week five or anything but this team's going to have a bad year i think i'm not okay shocker right but it could happen sooner rather than later. So it's something to keep in mind.
Starting point is 00:10:23 So tight ends. There's one headliner, it's Joanne Johnson. And I still think Harold Fanon, but, you know, in terms of Johnson, it's just 15.2 or 15 point, what is it, 15.6 or more in each of the first two games. You know, touchdown yesterday. He's getting the opportunities from Spencer Rattler. Doesn't look like Rattler is going to lose his job anytime soon from that perspective. So we talked about this on Sunday night.
Starting point is 00:10:46 Like, how, where do you slot him in terms of rest of season at this point? And whether it's top five or top ten, he's a number one tight end for the foreseeable future. And I think in the case of Fan, and like, you know, a little disappointing that he didn't build off of his week one game, but they just were just obliterated in that game against Baltimore. So the fact that he still had five catches is something I think that's encouraging. And then the next two tight ends, they're only four for this week, at least as of now. Isaiah likely, it's time to stash him. He may return in week three.
Starting point is 00:11:13 Clearly, Mark Andrews has done nothing. And Jatavion Sanders, I remember when Jalen Coker got injured. I think it was Mike Kay. I think he covers the Panthers for the Charlotte Observer. I'm not sure. He's one of the Panthers beatrider, so I apologize for not having his affiliation correct, if I'm wrong. He tweeted Sanders has a big opportunity. Something about Jatian Sanders getting an opportunity year.
Starting point is 00:11:35 55 passes for Bryce Young, however you want to buy into that, whatever it may be. Their next four games are very favorable, and Sanders just had nine targets and seven catches. So they're looking for somebody to step up behind Tedderall and McMillan. And I think between him and Hunter Renfro, both are worth look. Koker expected to miss two to four more games based on his initial estimate. And he is only 9% rostered. So that's someone Jalen Koker, if you are in a deep league and can't afford the bench dash. Obviously, if you have an IR spot, he's already rostered.
Starting point is 00:12:03 But if not, could be back within the next month. All right, a lot more names for you tomorrow on fantasy football today, including D.S. You know what? Give me a DST. Chiefs. Yep. Yes. What about kicker? Parker Romo? Spencer Strader. He's been great the first two weeks of season. And the sneaky one is Joey Sly. 16 or more points in each of the first two games for the Titans.
Starting point is 00:12:25 I like this Aubrey guy on the Cowboys. Get him. I hear he's pretty good. He's quite good. Okay. Thanks, everybody. We'll talk to you tomorrow on Fantasy Football. Actually, I don't know what our next express is later in the week for beat the waiver wire. But we will talk to you on FFT with the extended Waver Wire show. See you later. Paramount Podcasts.
