Starting point is 00:00:00 Week 1 injury update right now on FFT Express. We've got a lot to update, John, including the latest in the Josh Jacobs case right now. Dave Richard, the latest in the Josh Jacobs case, he has pleaded no contest. What are we thinking right now for Jacobs? I think if you drafted him with a late round pick, you'll be happy. I would expect him to play after serving some sort of a suspension, and I don't think it'll be season long. typically the NFL suspends players a minimum of six games for domestic violence. I would imagine that would be the case here.
Starting point is 00:00:37 We just don't know when that's going to be announced until then he's going to be on the commissioner's exempt list. But one thing to point out, you get credit for games, however you say, time served, I think is probably the best way to put it. You get credit for time served if you're on the exempt list and then you're given a suspension. So let's just say the ruling doesn't come out until week three, but he's been on the exemplarist this whole time. The games he's missed count toward the suspension. And yeah, we'll keep an eye on that. Now, Tua Tuaa Tertunga by Loa hurt his oblique. Remember, Michael
Starting point is 00:01:11 Panix Jr. is not ready to go yet. So it could be Cooper Rush going to Pittsburgh to quarterback the Falcons this week. Fun. Would you even start Drake London and Kyle Pitts if that were the case? Absolutely would start both of them. I would lower expectations for both. But I remember when Cooper Rush was starting in Dallas, I want to say it was 2024. It was. Played a bunch of games and C.D. Lamb had some big games. So I don't mind one of those guys with high expectations and you don't want to miss out
Starting point is 00:01:41 on Cal Pitts being the other. Remember, and this is something that Heath talked about a lot during the offseason and preseason. The Cisvansky offense will call for the tight end to be the primary read in a bunch of plays. It's just a matter of will it happen enough? And I think with any quarterback that's going to look downfield, it works against Kyle Pitts.
Starting point is 00:02:00 It works for Drake London. Any quarterback that's just trying to get the ball out fast works out better for Pitts, not as much for Drake London. I think Cooper Rush sort of falls in between those two buckets, not that he's necessarily the most accurate or best thrower to actually be the guy out there. And it doesn't help that he hasn't worked a ton with them. Remember, he joined the Falcons late during training camp. So this is an interesting spot.
Starting point is 00:02:24 I think you lower expectations for both London and Pitts, but you start them both. Yeah, but I'd start Michael Mayer over pits if Cooper Rush is going to be the quarterback. I'm not there. I know that I know some of you guys are just crazy about my little bit. I'm not. I'm not. But the dolphins are such a good matchup. And like I thought the same thing about Cooper Rush.
Starting point is 00:02:43 Let me just say Cooper Rush in those eight games in 2024 with the Cowboys. He wasn't bad. Like C.D. Lamb wasn't bad. But Cooper Rush had an 86.6.6 pass rating 6.2 yards per attempt. He was on pace for 3,564 yards, 20. 23 touchdowns. So it wasn't really that good. And then I thought, you know what?
Starting point is 00:03:02 He's going to come in and be all right for the Ravens last year. And he was terrible. And he got benched for Tyler Huntley. So I do have that kind of stuck in my head. You know, it's risky. But all right, that's the Falcon situation. All right, yeah. What are the other big injuries we're looking at right now?
Starting point is 00:03:22 Which position you want to start with? Because there's a bunch at every single one of the major positions. Well, in terms of players who might actually miss a game, I don't think we have any quarterbacks other than Tua, right? No, he's the only one. Mahomes practice in full on Thursday. Jeremiah Love, what are we hearing here? Limited on Wednesday. LaFleur is optimistic saying, quote, we feel good about where they are with Jeremiah. I love it. And we should say for the record, we're recording this Thursday afternoon. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:49 So we don't have the latest from Arizona Thursday afternoon. Friday, obviously, is a day away. you're going to have to check the injury report on CBSSports.com. But for now, limited, expected to play. Sounds like someone who's going to be probably a number two fantasy running back for a lot of people. All right. Ashton Jentie's going to play. Jonathan Brooks says he expects to play or, yeah, he said he expects to play. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:13 And Chuba Hubbard isn't even on the injury report. So Carolina will have both of their backs against Chicago. Okay. We're going to talk about that game on Friday's episode. Sean Tucker may not play. Is that going to make a big difference for you with Bucky Irving? I think it improves Bucky Irving's opportunities to score. We know that that's a big role that Sean Tucker had last year.
Starting point is 00:04:32 So it could swing a decision or two for Bucky fantasy managers. Okay. We're going to take a look at wide receivers when we come back. And maybe we'll talk a little bit more about Brock Bowers and Kenyon Sadiq, first round pick, super fast, super athletic tight end for the Jets. He's been practicing in full. Hopefully he gets out there. We'll be right back on Fantasy Football Today Express.
Starting point is 00:04:54 Maybe the biggest week one question, well, is George Kittle, but he's going to play tonight, depending on when you hear this, you know he's going to play. He may have already played. How did he do? Adam, what did you think of how George Kittle played? You know, considering he only played 68% of the snaps, I thought he did really well. Five catches, 42 yards, had a touchdown called back, almost had a really big game. I guess people will take that 9.2 full PPR. But Malik neighbors, it's a Sunday night game and it looks like he's going to play. We're optimistic, right?
Starting point is 00:05:24 he, he, he was a little coy about it with the media. And he said it's going to be up to him if he plays and how much he plays. But John Harbaugh said he was ready to go earlier this week. So I'm thinking Malik Neighbors is going to play. He's been ramping up all training camp long. I'm cautiously optimistic. We're going to have a nice game from Neighbors against Dallas. Is he a top 20 guy?
Starting point is 00:05:49 He is. Give me a second to bring up my latest. receiver rankings. He is a top 21 guy. Oh, okay, okay. And I guess we can't sit here and say definitively that Malik Neighbors is going to play, but it's trending in the right direction. Same thing with a mecca of Buka.
Starting point is 00:06:07 Maybe Jalen McMillan will get out there this week. He's been limited. What about Romo Dunzee? He was limited on Wednesday. We don't have the latest on Thursday. Obviously, it's an issue if he's not at 100% in an offense that has Colson level and has Luther burden. Byrdon's been talked up a ton.
Starting point is 00:06:25 Loveland's been talked up a ton. We've been focusing on Romo Dunezay in his weird foot. And on top of that, the Panther secondary has some good corners on the outside. J.C. Horn, Chief among them, they could do a decent job limiting O'Donzei on the perimeter. And that's usually where he lines up. There's also another issue in Chicago. Their left tackle, Ozzie Tripillo's not going to play. That does mean some possible concern for their left side of their offensive line.
Starting point is 00:06:52 Never a good thing when you've got a right-hand. quarterback like the Bears have. Yeah, against kind of an underrated defense that got Jaylen Phillips is off season. Maybe. They've tried to improve their defense in Carolina. We'll see how they do. Jaylon Phillips is their best pass rusher. Yeah, and it's a big deal. And they were,
Starting point is 00:07:08 I think they were 15th in points per game last year. So it's not like they were a bad defense or anything. It's about average. Right, exactly. So that's why I call them underrated. I don't think people consider Carolina even an average defense maybe. Jacoby Myers, Dave, this is an interesting development. He's got a thumb issue. I guess we'd have to say he's questionable.
Starting point is 00:07:26 Well, we don't know. He was limited on Wednesday, but he's been trending in the right direction for more than a week. So there's definitely a chance that he could play for Jacksonville. And he would obviously take some target volume away from both Parker, Washington and Brian Thomas Jr. And it could be especially concerning if the Jaguars don't have to throw a lot in this game. We're figuring it's a one-sided game. Cleveland's offense isn't very good. Their defense is interesting, but they're probably in that.
Starting point is 00:07:53 same boat at this point as Carolina where we're just not sure how much better or worse from league average they are. So I'm not starting Jacobi Myers in any leagues, but if he's playing, it might put a twinge of sadness into your expectations for Parker Washington and Brian Thomas Jr. Myers was wearing a non-contact jersey on Thursday. Alec Pierce has been limited with a heel injury. So this is different than what's kept him out for so long, as now he's got a heel issue. Could be related to the injury that he was sideline with too. We don't know what's going on there, but Pierce at not 100%. Could be just somebody that runs downfield a lot. And the Ravens previously, previous iterations of this defense would play a lot of man coverage. I don't think they're going to do
Starting point is 00:08:39 that this year. So unless he's running free, I don't know how many targets he's going to get. He makes me nervous this week. I'm much more interested in Josh Downs. What do you think about Kenyon Sadiq? I think I want to stash him. I wouldn't expect much from somebody who didn't get a lot of training camp in. And he's obviously getting healthy at the right time. But I'm just not convinced that we're going to see Sadiq getting a lot of work and getting a lot of targets in this first game against Tennessee. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:10 All right. That is it for fantasy football today. Express all of your injuries. We'll update you again on Friday morning on the big show. And for Dave, I'm Adam. Also, we have a mailbag coming up tomorrow. It should be fun. For Dave, I'm Adam.
Starting point is 00:09:23 Have a great day. Talk to you later on Fantasy Football Today Express. On Podcasts.
