It is Wednesday, September 3rd. And for the first time in about nine months, we're previewing games. I guess we did that for the Super Bowl here. So not quite nine months, but we're talking about starts and sits for week one for the Thursday and Friday games. We welcome you to fantasy football today presented by BEDMGM, the sports book Born in Vegas. Wednesday shows going forward are going to be kind of a trade show, buyer sell, you know, buy low, sell high, and any other topics that come to mind. It's a smorgasbord. We like to use that term, I guess, on Wednesday's Tuesday waiver wire.

Who's got drafts today or tomorrow? Who's got some drafts left? Dave? I do. Three left over league drafts. I sent on all the emails last night. Done. You're done? Yeah. Done.

I'm done too, and I'm ready to be done. I feel good about it. It feels complete, ready to do some starts and sits. We got some fill in the blank today as well. News and notes, let's just start with some news and notes, some depth chart stuff. Travis Hunter was listed as a starting wide receiver and a backup cornerback in the initial depth chart, whereas Travis E.T.N. Tank Bigsby, they were listed as co-starters. They're playing Carolina this week.

J.K. Dobbins listed as a starter. Najee Harris practiced in full, so it looks like he's going to play. Chikori Kroski Merritt listed fourth on the depth chart. Jamie, did I say anything that you think is particularly fantasy relevant right now? Probably the last thing, you know, just to see how this Washington backfield is going to shake out. I wouldn't read too much into where they're starting on the depth chart. You know, we'll see how they're used in games.

But I don't think you should be playing Jacori Kroski Merit this week. I think you wanted to see how it all sort of shakes out. The only way I would really overreact to this is, are the commanders going to have four active running backs on game day? Because I think Jeremy McNichols is going to play special teams, and Austin Ackler is going to be the starter. So are they going to both Chris Rodriguez and J.C.M. going to be active on Sunday? It's entirely possible if McNichols especially is going to play teams and pitch in a little bit on the running game. it's not crazy for a team to use four running backs on game day the jaguars are expected to use all four of their running backs on game day which which is a change from where leum cohen was thinking two weeks ago the texans are expected to use four running backs on game day unless what he marks is inactive as well uh yeah go ahead sorry he's they interrupted no i was trying to think of who the fourth is with the texans oh it would be chub pierce marks and ogumboalee oh d'aree

They're probably going to be their third downback. I mean, it's, uh, this was kind of what I said yesterday. Like there's going to be these veteran guys that just do something of whatever that's going to either freak people out and make them pick them up off waivers. I mean, Ogunmouale, in the three games that Joe Mix and missed last year was a pretty decent PPR option in two of them because of what he did in the passing game. So there's going to be like these, like, it wouldn't, it wouldn't shock me if Kenneth Gainwell has the best day of the Steelers running back, you know, just because he's going to play a lot.

So there's going to be situations like this where some of these. these veteran guys just are problematic and in some cases force people to spend fab that they shouldn't are you guys trying to take a wait and see approach with Travis Hunter as a starter yeah as a starter this week yeah I think in three receiver leagues you probably throw them in a lineup or two uh especially if you play flex if you're in a two receiver league I would absolutely sit them on the bench that's going to be one of the more uh you know analyzed things of week one it's going to be a big one um speaking of the Steelers running backs. Jalen Warren, so this is what Mike Tomlin said about Jalen Warren. Certainly he'll be our

feature running back. We're not opposed, obviously, to utilizing Kenny G. and Caleb, and I'm sure you'll see them. At what time and to what degree will be determined how the game unfolds. Dave, your thoughts on that comment from Mike Tomlin about Jalen Warren at the Jets this week. He saw what we saw in the preseason, and he's seen a lot more because Caleb Johnson has been practicing this whole time. I'm sure he's been himself in practice as well. And Warren is just their most consistent leadback. And until

that changes, he should be expected to be the feature back for him. Hate the matchup against the Jets. Don't really want to start any of these guys against the Jets, but it makes it so much easier now for fantasy managers to not even think about Caleb Johnson. If you drafted him, just keep him on the bench until he starts to

play a lot more. I tweeted out this morning some rushing lines for RB2s in terms of where their rushing yardage line is and a couple of

these guys we'll talk about during the game previews but Jalen Warren has a higher rushing line

than DeAndre Swift Alvin he's at 54 and a half yards is his overrun my goodness higher than DeAndre Swift

Alvin Camara Aaron Jones Omari and Hampton Brees Hall and Mavia Pacheco and that's just rushing yards I think it's

actually gonna be decent this year this week I'm sorry How come? Because I think they'll be playing with the lead. I think he's their lead guy. And just based on the contract situation,

the game script. So if they're in a competitive game early, he's going to get his opportunities to catch the ball. It's not just going to be game on every passing down situation. So I think that line is, I don't know. You should be ahead of all those guys, but it's not surprising they're in a mix. I don't think the Deserun Defense is anything to be like running away from.

okay and Quinn and Williams is healthy or hurt I think he's healthy I didn't know that he was hurt someone take a look so here's bang up I'll look at it Cameron Hayward by the way for the for the Steelers in that game is expected to play

he's been kind of a holdout hold in situation Carolina listed Hunter Renfro as a starter Buffalo side oh the magic eight ball is back baby Buffalo signed Gabe Davis uh you know we haven't talked about this at all. I kept putting it in the notes and I never got to it

because we kept running long. The new kickoff rule. And I'm not going to second guess. I'm going to first guess and I'm going to say, I hate the new kickoff rule. The 35 yard line for a touchback is ridiculous. Why don't we just start them in field goal range? When we just start them at the opponent's 35 yard line? I mean, this is just, it's just too drastic. It's too much. Why do you think they changed it? They want more returns. I couldn't care less about returns. I thought the 30 was a nice little compromise. The 35 just seems too much.

I wouldn't be surprised they'd change it back next year. Williams is fine. He had a calf injury early in the camp. I was about to say. Yeah, I disagree, Adam. It's a bad take by you. Finally, Adam, with a bad take. Did you hear Heath, his baby rant yesterday on CBS Sports Network about

tight-end premium leagues? Oh, he hates them, I assume. them. Yeah, it makes, it makes Brock Bowers and Trey McBride too good. It just, it's just,

we don't want anybody to stick it out anywhere. Everybody can just score between 12 and 13 PPR fantasy points. I mean, just changing the rules. What if we gave,

what if we gave catchers five points for a home run and three points for a double? We would never do it. The one position you've flushed out for baseball. Well, yeah, I never like two catcher leagues.

I didn't understand it. Why would we be doing two catcher leagues? It doesn't make any Do you like Superflex leagues? I do like Super Flex leagues. Oh, that's consistent. Yeah, that's fine.

people are calling the most interesting game of the week chiefs chargers okay let's see what am i going to go with i do think carolina jacksonville when you just think about everything that's in play for jacksonville Travis hunter in the running back situation can Trevor lawrence take this the next step can brys young take the next step i do think that's that's a very fun fantasy game so Carolina Jackson will be my answer. It is the weirdest thing. There were two teams that had $1 bids at the end of the draft, and they didn't even notice Rishie Rice was available, and they were nominating, like, Woody Marks and whatever, and I'm just sitting there. I'm like, why isn't anybody taking Rishie Rice? You were out of money? I was out of money.

Yeah, why weren't you the guy who nominated Rishi Rice? I was out of money. I got better, honestly, I got like better players with my last several picks. Oh, I can't wait to hear this list of better players. This is, like, Dan, in the last, like, four or five mocks where we've done, where, like, round seven, eight, nine, ten, he's like, oh, my God, I can't believe you took my guy when he had 17 opportunities to take the team player. Right. I've been yesterday in round 11.

I also love when people who are four picks away, like, someone gets taken, and they're like, oh, you took my guy. It's like, dude, it's like, you can't, you're too far away to make that claim. You have to be next. All right, let's fill in the blank. Heath had an interesting FFT draft yesterday. they were worth those picks in terms of what I projected them to score so hopefully I win tight in and flex every week and can find I mean Travis Hunter might be the key to that team well just so everyone knows who he passed on when he took McBride McConkey

any of the quarterbacks J.SN, James Cook, Amarine, Hampton. So it's not like Bucky or Hiring or Kiren, was that? Not any of the quarterbacks. Joe Burrow was taken. Oh, Joe Burrow as QB won. Burrow was the first QB off the board, yeah. So, Kim. Thomas was picking at the turns and just got his guys.

But, yeah, so he, none of the top 12 running backs were available, none of the top eight wide receivers, none of the top 10 wide receivers. So he took Trey McBride as his flex. All right. Would you recommend that? to others heath like people who are drafting today can i let you know in about two months oh i mean i i get that we're doing it this is our last he made a tradeoff in the middle of the draft it's true he did but i told dan if you'd throw in jordan edison i'd take jane daniel

I'm just going to mess them and take Treveon Henderson and Ladd McCawkey was on the board. And immediately I regretted it. I was going to say that I didn't get any Treveon Henderson in redraft. Maybe one. Maybe one. He was my most drafted rookie in rookie drafts, so I've got them on like 40% of my dynasty teams. But I was just always a little bit behind Travion, on Trayvion. I don't think I have any Ashton Genti,

maybe one team with Amar and Hampton, probably no teams with Trayvion Henderson, and almost no teams with R.J. Harvey. So I do have a little bit of fomo of not having any of the rookie running backs. I got a lot of rookie running backs in the back half of the draft, but not early on. I have zero Jemir Gibbs. That makes me sick.

I almost took him. I wanted to take him 101 yesterday just because I didn't have any, but I was sharing a team, so I couldn't. All right, Vinnie the Vet. Trayvion Henderson becomes RB1 for the Patriots in week blank. One. Yeah, one. I mean, if we're going by the depth chart, I'll say two.

Remember my fantasy points? I'll say one. Edward says the lion's offensive pieces are being blanked. Lank rated heading into this season. Over underrated, underrated. I don't think there's one word that describes all of them. But as a rule, I would say overrated. And I think, I don't know if I brought this up on the podcast,

but I think we saw the first evidence in the Lions week one line. Which was? Their implied team totals 22 and a half points. They had two games last year. below 23 points, and they averaged 33 points a game last year. They're playing the Packers, so. In Green Bay.

The most picked up player? Could be. He'd have to actually do something, though. If he has 10 carries for 40 yards, he's 19% rostered. If he's the goal line back for the commanders, which by the way, the indications are he will be the goal.

I don't know that it'll actually happen, but that's kind of what Dan Quinn was saying, that he's the short yardage back. Chris Rodriguez might be the most added player. Trevor's probably a little too highly rostered. He might go up to 95%. Yeah. Dylan Samson's.

There's usually something we do in advance of preview in the Thursday night game. I don't know. This might be like your first year on the podcast. I'm not sure. All right, it's out of the game. Jack Prescott has averaged 31.6 fantasy points per game and six points per passing touchdown leagues in his last five against Philadelphia. One of them was a week 18 game where the Eagles bench their starters. But he has been very good in this matchup. He didn't face them last year, though. So this could be the best Eagles defense he has faced. Right.

At least in this recent stretch. So starter sit, Dak Prescott, guys. Low and starter. I'd rather start Trevor Lawrence. I'd rather start Drake May. I'd rather start Kyler Murray. I'd rather start. That's about the only, I think, ones that were drafted after him.

I agree with all of those. He's not in my top 12. I love Dak Prescott this year. I don't love him this week. I would guess their implied total of, I think, it was 20 last time I looked, will be one of their lowest this season. I think it's a bad start for the Cowboys. You go in,

since we'll talk about this game in a bit, Herbert, Mahomes, Dak. Who do you like? Mahomes, Dak, Herbert. Yep. Big gap between Dak and Herbert. Big, see, I have Dak and Herbert back to back. Big gap between Mahomes, the other two for me.

Okay. So I'm guessing you guys definitely do not want to start Giovante Williams? No. No. No, but, I'd start them over Caleb Johnson. Yes.

Okay, so just to throw this out there, I mean, Dave, I'll throw it to you because you've done a lot of the defense analysis and you've published it. But the Eagles had an amazing defense last year. They were second and scoring. They were tough against the run. They were so tough against the past. They did not give up big plays. But they have lost some significant pieces, including Milton Williams at defensive tackle was on the Patriots. CJ Gardner Johnson at safety.

He's on the Texans. Darius Slay with the Steelers now. So they're moving some pieces around in their secondary. They also have, I think when Nacobobey Dean is out for a while at linebacker. So, you know, are we missing? Are we kind of overlooking some vulnerabilities, do you think, with the Eagles defense? Yeah, they're not the same defense. You forgot maybe two of the most important losses.

They had Josh Sweat, who is now, I believe, in Arizona, and Bryce Huff, who is another pass rush that they have. Now, if you're a believer in the Eagles, you think that they'll just reload with Nolan Smith and Jalick Hunt. and Hunt was good in the Super Bowl. Morrow Jomo is another guy on that D-line. I think he's replacing Milton Williams. But they're getting the opportunity.

It doesn't necessarily mean that they're going to be great. If you buy into starting a matchup because of the players on the field, I think this makes you feel better about Dak Prescott, because the pass rush won't be quite as suffocating. And you know kind of what the deal is with Big Fangio defenses anyway. They play a lot of zone. They only rush four guys. They don't blitz very much.

And I don't think they're going to be inclined to, blitz very much because of the Cowboys offensive line and the state that it's in, they might begin the game thinking they can get to DAC with only four guys. I think the reason why you consider DAC is because, A, we, there's no reason to believe in the run game for Dallas. We just got done talking about the offensive line. The interior, the up the middle of that defense for Philadelphia is still really good. I mean, Carter and Davis there are detackle.

I mean, that's really where a lot of their pass rush will get generated from anyway, but against the run, that's really good. And so I think Dax's going to have to throw a lot. And, yeah, Quignon Mitchell at one corner is huge. There are other cornerbacks. I'm definitely not sold on Kelly Ringo. And I don't know if I'm ready to give all the credit in the world to Cooper DeGine if he's going to play nickel.

So I just think that there's going to be opportunities on top of opportunities for Dak to throw a lot and fall into good production. Can you get to 25 fantasy points? points, that worries me. But getting 20 or more, I think it can happen. Okay. Would you guys start Giovante Williams or like a Jordan Mason, Zach Charbonnet, Braylin Allen guy? I would start Giovante over those guys for this week.

I've got it. Charbonnet Mason, Williams, Allen. Okay. And Jerome Ford ahead of Giovante. By a mile, yeah. I'd start both still on Samson and Jerome forward over Jvante. I think if there's any silver line of Javante, it's going to be in full PPR because he can still catch the ball out of the backfield. The Eagles played 21 games last year, including the playoffs, obviously, and only four times did multiple wide receivers score 14 or more PPR fantasy points in the same game.

14 or more, they're usually about 25 to 30 wide receivers who average 14 PPR fantasy points per game. So it's a solid game. It only happened four times. One of those was week 18 when they were sitting their starters against the Giants. So when they were playing their guys happened only three times in 20 games. So no one's sitting C.D. Lamb, but starters sit, George Pickens. How many of those games did they play two receivers at this caliber? That's a good question.

Two against Washington, no. One against the Giants, no. The Rams did it once. So that was one. I think Cooper Cup had a very late touchdown to save his bacon. played the Packers, they played the Saints, they played the Bucks, and Chris Godwin fell just short of that. He had 12.8, 12.9 PPR Fantasy points.

Evans had a big game. T. Higgins, I might have missed that game, actually. So, yeah, not much, rarely. To answer your question. So Starters Sid Higgins. I'm sorry? Starters at Pickens. he's number two receiver

I mean, I think for the most part, people are going to start their starters, start the guys they drafted as starters. but, you know, any Kroski merits of the world that are, like, Jalen Warren? Jalen Warren or George Pickens, Devante Smith? Pickens and Smith over Warren. Yep, it would be Warren for me.

All right. If it's non-PPR, no, I can't even do it in non-PPR. It's the receivers over Warren. Okay. All right. That's pretty much, I mean, look, we don't have to get too far in depth. It's week one. So, Jake Ferguson, Dallas Goddert, do you like either of these guys?

I like Ferguson. I like Goddard slightly head of Ferguson. Ferguson over Goddard, both in the 13 to 16 range. I think if you were scared of the, I think a lot of people probably drafted Ferguson with Warren or Loveland, and I'd rather start Ferguson week one. Over Warren, too? Yeah. I would. Yep.

Kansas City is at the Chargers but this game is in Brazil and how first of all how are you feeling about do you like the Friday night game? Heath you're you know being a Chiefs fan do you like spending a Friday night watching the Chiefs? I

as a rule prefer the Thursday, Sunday, Monday schedule There's one of the high school football games of the year. It's happened at about four miles from my house on Friday night. I'm not going to go watch that. I'm going to watch the Chiefs instead. But, yeah, I mean, I like the high school football on Friday, college on Saturday, NFL on Thursday,

on Thursday, Sunday, Monday. I don't really, you know, with our job, we don't really get to sit down and watch the game. with friends very often, especially you can't do it on Sunday. So the Friday game is the best opportunity for that. Not to say that I'm going to do that. I don't really have that lined up, but I might try. Yeah, I generally structure my week. I mean, I think everybody knows from how many times they see our face and hear our voices

the other days of the week toward that Friday night, Saturday morning stretch is kind of the time that you say, hey, I've got a family. Yeah, exactly. Remember them? Dave, how are we feeling about this game? Who do we like in Chiefs Chargers? I don't know who we really love in the game. Who do we like?

I think all the guys that we drafted. Eo Hoagot de Semma, those Chiefs and those Chargers, football in Brazil, seem. Eo Jogo de Semana, hey. This was the easiest.

game of the week call this is actually not the game of the week even better because you just wanted to take the opportunity to sing in Portuguese yes exactly this is the only chance I was going to get this game actually I mentioned this last yesterday

when these two teams played last year neither quarterback scored 17 fantasy points in either game neither team scored 20 points this was fantasy poison the over under's 45 and a half so hopefully a little bit more than, you know, 36, 37 points like we got last year.

But Dave, like, who do you like in this game? The only must start is, well, I mean, Mahomes is a must start. Everybody who drafted him is going to use him, but Lad Mekonki is a must start. And you're still going to go with Xavier Worthy, Travis Kelsey. Kelsey's okay, even especially because Rishie Rice isn't in. I like Hampton as a low end number two running back. I think he's like 20th for me. Just expecting Naji to get eased in.

a little bit just because he didn't have a regular training camp and Hampton has and he should be in position to get a lot of work and he could certainly score, Pacheco's in the flex range, especially in half a non-PPR. And then everybody that's kind of on that periphery is going to be a sit. And I don't, what do you do if you drafted the chief's DST? Do you cut them immediately and find another DST, maybe? But you could start them if you're, if you don't feel like doing that. I'm a and I've been a little low on Hampton throughout the whole process I think so it's probably not surprising I'm a little low on Hampton in week one I'm not going to do this for every game but I do think the the lines are pretty interesting on this one Isaiah and Pacheco Isaiah Pacheco and Amara and Hampton have the same over under on rush attempts 11 11 and a half and okay and Pacheco is at 47 and a half rushing yards Hampton's at 46 and a half rushing yards, and they're both at one and a half receptions.

Wow. I like the overs for Hampton. I like it for Bichekko, but okay, so let's talk about the Chiefs matchup here, the matchup for Hampton and Najee Harris. For the first, more than half the season, the Chiefs had the best run

defense in football, and it just fell apart. I mean, they were so good. They were a sit, you know, basically for most running backs. And then it fell apart a little bit, last nine games, running backs averaged 4.4 yards per carry. In the eight games leading up to the Super Bowl, running backs average 4.7 4 yards per carry. So that's awful. And then they somehow did just an amazing job against Saquan Barclay and only Saquan Barclay in that game. But this,

you know, I don't know what to make of it. This should, I think should be a very good run defense and a tough matchup. On the other hand, I don't think the Chargers are a very tough matchup on paper. Dave, you can tell me if I'm wrong. They lost. No, I agree with you. They get by with scheme. Yeah. They're usually his own scheme. Yeah, I'm sorry. They had this defense

that looked really good last year, but everybody pointed out, they played such an easy schedule. Then they started playing tough teams in the second half of the year, and they got very exposed, except not by the Chiefs, though, because the Chiefs weren't that good of an offense.

So, yeah, I don't know. With all the things I said, how are we approaching the Chiefs? Are they going to put up, are they going to put up a good number here? or am we excited about them? Dave kind of gave his take. Heath, how about you?

You start Mahomes, you start worthy, you start Kelsey. And everything else is a total crapshoot. I think Pacheco is probably going to be a starter for most people. He's a flex for me. I would not be surprised if another chief's past catcher catches a touchdown. I would not venture, I guess, as to which pass catcher that's going to be. this will be like I said I thought this was one of the more interesting ones in terms of finding things out just because it sounds like Naji's a full go now he's not been through as much practice so he's not going to necessary but seeing the split between Hampton and Naji or if a third back works in is going to be really interesting week one and does Hampton just make it clear that he's so much better than those guys that it shouldn't happen anymore seeing how many targets Keenan Allen siphons all. off in that offense, I'm expecting it to be around seven a game, matters for understanding this

offense. You think Keenan Allen's getting seven targets a game? Yes. Wow. Okay. I don't think that'll happen in games that they're playing with a lead, but in general, if it's a high-scoring game or if the charges are trailing, yeah, I don't think that that's out of pocket.

I want to take coming back, I said, Adam, you should drop the Chiefs DST if you drafted them because they've got the Chargers this week. It's an okay matchup. It's not great. after that, it's Philadelphia. Then the Giants in week three, Baltimore in week four. So maybe you start them once

over the first four weeks. You can probably find better on the-ag-wire. I mean, I think you could start them twice in the first three weeks. You can start them in this match-up, and you can start them certainly against the Giants. Right? I mean, like they're not.

You could. I feel like there's better options. Their pass rush could give the chargers a lot of trouble. Yeah, chargers without Slater? Yeah. All right. All right, let's take a quick break and come back.

We'll finish up with this game and we got a lot of questions in the chat. Before we do that, Xavier Worthy or George Pickens? It's not close for me and it's worthy. Dave, what did you say? I said Pickens. Why is it not close? The last six games we saw from Xavier Worthy was averaging 20 fantasy points per game. Yeah. He did that without Rushie Rice. Rushie Rice is not there. I don't, I'm not projecting to score 20 fantasy points per game, but he is a, he is actually higher in my projections than Ladd-McConkie.

McConkey's an easy start, by the way. The Chiefs, one thing they did struggle against last year was slot receivers. We'll see how much of the slot he sees. I'd have to double check on top 24 But I think he's a flex for sure Okay and I have making you know, obviously everybody knows how much I love Pacheco. I'm deciding between him and Tony Pollard in a half-P-R league and, you know, Pollard has so much work without Spears last year. But Denver had one of the best run defenses in football. So it's tough because I think Pacheco's got a good match up here. I don't know that for sure, though.

You know, I wish I had a little bit more conviction. I think the wild card is that each team has to fly 12 hours to Brazil and then play in Brazil. And it's the first game of the year. and I don't think we should have the same type of expectations for them as we would for any team playing in week four or five and certainly any other team that's playing without the crazy travel in week one.

I will say just in Pollards to help you make that decision at him. He averaged 24 touches a game without Tai J. Spears last year. And his, if you care at all about where the lines are, he's the betting lines are much much higher like 30% higher for tony polar than isaiah pacheco in terms of yardage and touches i'm just so worried about cam ward in his first start of his career going against the arguably the best defense in football on the road it could

be a bloodbath uh and that was going to take a lot of touches away from from pollard but we'll talk about that tomorrow here's some questions for this game um let's see moving down here Chiefs DST or Cardinals DST? Cardinals. Easy answer. Omari and Hampton or David Montgomery, Montgomery against the PAC. Hampton. I have Hampton higher, but they're close. Trying to find, yeah, I've got Hampton higher.

Isaiah Pacheco, Travis Hunter, or Debo Samuel, PPR. Debo. Debo. I think Debo. Hampton, Teteroa McMillan or Ricky Pearsall, sit one in Peececo. PPR. Hampton.

Keenan Allen is my third favorite wide receiver in the game by a pretty good margin. And my third, my favorite flex that we didn't talk about by a pretty good margin.

Agreed. But the other guys are mildly intriguing. Seven targets a game, which he said, that's huge. He's 59% rostered. He should be 100% rostered close to it if he's going to get seven targets a game. All right.

I think Pittman was a little underrated once Daniel Jones named starter. He was getting overdrafted in CBS, but I think he's a underrated based on our rankings. I like DeMarro Douglas. I think he'll work in PPR. I think we'll get some good moments, obviously, of Keon Coleman. You know, so that's a third receiver that has plenty of upside.
