This is fantasy football today from CBS Sports.
What a play!
Can you believe this?
It's a no idea.
It's time to dominate your fantasy league.
This is going to go the distance.
Now here's some combination of Adam, Dave, Jamie, and Heath.
We are drafting and we are reacting to a pretty interesting, if not revealing night in the Steelers backfield.
Welcome to Fantasy Football today.
presented by BEDMGM, the sports book Born in Vegas.
Happy Friday, everybody.
It's Friday, August 22nd.
Big weekend.
A lot of people are drafting.
We're going to do everything we can to get you ready.
We did record the mailbag last night.
It'll publish on Saturday.
And we'll tell you about some more content coming up.
Adam, Dave, and Jamie here.
We're in this draft.
We've already made 14 picks.
So Thomas is going to be inputting the picks,
and we're going to show them to you.
If you're listening to this podcast,
this would be a good one to go on YouTube
and watch the draft board unfold.
YouTube.com slash fantasy football today.
Good morning, Dave and Jamie.
How we doing?
Who did you take with your first pick?
Derek Henry.
Among Rost, St. Brown, and then Pooka Nakuwa with back-to-back picks because I got stuck at 12.
And I love that Dave did that because I was torn between Derek Henry and Brian Thomas, Jr.
Ah, you got both your guys.
Ooh, what a tough pick I have here.
Yikes.
All right.
So, up and now.
You tell us about the tough pick.
17th overall.
I took Ashton Gentie in round one.
This is a two-receiver league with one flex.
I do not want to have zero receivers at this point,
but the best players on the board are definitely not receivers.
Take powers.
I am going to take Devon A-chan.
It is a risk, but he is just too damn good.
It's okay if he misses a game or two.
It's not going to ruin my season.
You're going to prioritize Ollie Gordon now.
I don't know.
If you don't, someone else will.
Well, yeah, I mean, prioritize, I don't know.
I don't think Olly Gordon is going to have some great season.
But Jalen Wright hurt his leg yesterday.
Dave, you were at the practice.
Do you think for sure Ollie Gordon is second on the depth chart?
Yep, because Jalen Wright, he wasn't really playing well or practicing well even before he got hurt.
We don't know the severity of the injury, but the fact that he limped off and back into the facility is a problem.
And so I think by default, Ollie Gordon won the number two running back job.
and right now the guy who's number one at running back isn't healthy for the dolphins.
Add on top of that,
then Mike McDaniel said that dispersion of the football is the ultimate weapon against the defense
when asked about how he's going to use A-Cham coming back from his injury.
And that makes me think that Miami might spread the ball around a little bit more,
at least in terms of carries between their running backs.
Unless they make a move to acquire another running back,
I think Gordon is going to end up being a decent role player for them.
And I don't mind taking him with a pick, let's call it round 12 plus, make it a pick that's not worth
anything, where he could end up potentially being their starter week one against Indianapolis.
All right.
Let me catch everybody up here.
So we'll go through a quick, like some news and notes real quick, talk about the Steelers backfield.
I have the seventh pick.
Jamie has the, no, the eighth pick, sorry, Jamie 11th, Dave 12th, and this 12th team full
PPR league where again, we start.
one quarterback, two running backs, two wide receivers, one tight end, and a flex, no kickers, no DSTs.
We have, what, six bench spots, yes.
Okay, so round one was Chase Robinson, Jefferson, Gibson, Gibbs, Lamb, Barclay.
Chase, Bijan, Jefferson, Gibbs, Lamb, Barclay.
That's wide receiver running back, wide receiver running back, wide receiver running back.
Then McCaffrey, then Genty, then Nico Collins, Malik Neighbors,
Derek Henry and Amon Rae St. Brown.
Six running backs, six wide receivers.
The next two picks were Pooka Nakua and Brian Thomas Jr.
So Dave started his team with St. Brown and Puka.
Jamie started his team with Henry and Brian Thomas Jr.
Dave, if Derek Henry had not been taken at 11 by Jamie,
if he had taken St. Brown or Puka or Brian Thomas Jr., whatever,
what would you have done at the turn if Henry had been available to you?
I would have taken Derek Henry and whichever receiver was there
between St. Brown and Nakua.
But whereas you were comfortable taking A-chan in the first round,
are you no longer comfortable taking him at the time?
No, he's got to be a round two-pick at this point.
Do you think I took him too early at 17?
Oh, I think that's right around the range where he should go.
And it's you buying the dip.
We talk about this every single preseason where players lose value on draft day
because of recent events or current events.
And then two, three weeks from now,
A-chan could be really good to go, and you got yourself a first rounder in round two.
I thought it was a smart pick.
This is the first draft we've seen Adam that we've done together, at least, where Jacobs has gone ahead of A-chan, at least recently.
He did.
Jacobs did.
So is Puka, Brian Thomas, Jr., Josh Jacobs, first three picks of round two.
We did talk a lot about Jacobs on the mailbag that you're going to hear on Saturday, or you can go watch it on YouTube already.
And, by the way, that mailbag, the first 30 minutes is auction talk.
So if you're in an auction.
The first 30 seconds is me giggling.
Walking off set to laugh at Dan with dad.
Anyway, round two, Puka, Brian Thomas Jr., Jacobs, Drake London, way ahead of A.J. Brown.
Devon A. Chan, Brock Bowers.
Yeah, you have to take Drake London ahead of A.J. Brown, no.
I don't think you do.
I don't either.
I think you could.
I think you could.
I'm not saying you should.
But you could just do the all preseason injury team
and grab like all this value of players that people were panicking on.
It would have to be more like an auction
because you can't take A. Chan, Tyreek Hill, A.J. Brown on the same team necessarily.
Oh, I did.
I just did it in a draft Wednesday.
What did you do?
I drafted McAfee.
It's a super flex league.
So I got four points for passing touchdown.
So quarterbacks fell a little bit.
But I got it at the 10th pick, Jalen Hertz in round one, McCaffrey round two, A. Chan, round three, A.J. Brown, round four.
Mike Evans, round five.
Tyreekill, round six.
Yeah.
You know, you crushed it.
All right, I think.
All right, I'm sorry.
Let me get back to round two, Puka, Brian Thomas Jr., Jacobs, London, A. Chan Bowers.
Now, we've sort of established there is a tier of five running backs, and we'll see how they come off the board.
but they're all coming off the board here
with Jacobs, then A. Chan,
I guess, is in that tier.
Maybe it's six running backs now.
Kyron Williams, Chase Brown,
then Trey McBride.
What a steal.
Did someone just take Bucky Irving?
Like, it's 29th?
Wow.
Jack did.
Last guy in the tier.
Trey McBride, A.J. Brown,
Ladd McConkey, Jonathan Taylor.
Now, are we cool with Ladd McConkey going 23rd overall?
Vikings trying to acquire Adam Thielen.
oh dude that's that that's happening it sounds like that's going to end up happening um are we cool
with lad mcconkey 23rd overall yeah 23rd overall yeah too soon he went are we nitpicking it though
um i mean i'd rather have bucky i'd rather have taylor i'd rather have yeah that's true
t higgins i'd rather have jason yeah i'm about there too so it does feel a little too soon
But that's it.
I mean, early round three.
I just wouldn't take him over the front of it.
That's kind of what I was getting at.
Is that like if you really love the guy, take him.
But I think he's much more of a round three pick.
I've got him, I've got, I've got him like as a top 30 pick.
So it's a little reachy.
I would take it.
Don't do it, Adam.
Cato what?
All right.
Let's talk about something because I, I'm not going to say I made a mistake by taking
Genty and H in, but I hate the wide receivers available right now.
And I love the running backs available right now.
I'm not taking a third running back.
So that leaves me between Kittle and a quarterback.
And I think I'm going to take Kittle and hope that one of Daniels Burrow and hurts.
You're going to make me curse.
You're going to make me curse.
No, don't care.
Oh, there goes Jane Daniels.
All right.
So I could start this league with two running backs, a tight end and a quarterback.
A very unusual build.
But we talk about how much we like the wide receivers in rounds five through seven.
So we'll see if I can maybe pull that off if I go,
if I get Hertz or Burrow with my next pick.
This is a six point for passing touchdown league.
But I would say that, again, we say it a lot.
It might make you just breathe a sigh of relief
if you get a top eight wide receiver or whatever.
You want to extend it to London, A.J. Brown, whatever.
But with one of your first two picks,
I was one of, was I the only, no, Joe?
I was the only team here.
Oh, no, Dave, you too.
All right.
Oh, sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm getting so confused.
What the heck?
You know, I'm trying to see.
How many teams did not draft a wide receiver in one of the first two rounds?
Am I the only one?
No, Joe took Gibbs and McBride, and then he took JSN.
Joel took McCaffrey and Bowers, and then he took Josh Allen.
So he also doesn't have a wide receiver.
But those guys have one of the elite title.
Oh, all right.
So we all have a.
an elite tight end if you could consider Kittal.
But most teams have a wide receiver.
Dave, you had St. Brown and Pooka and Kua.
What did you do with the three-four turn?
I was in a tough spot in the three-four turn.
Camero was the top running back on the board.
Jamie had taken James Cook right in front of me.
I would have taken James Cook if he had been there or Marion Hampton,
went right in front of Jamie.
I'm sure Jamie would have taken Hampton over Cook.
Yep.
I would have.
And so the running backs that were left that were at the top of my board were Camara,
Chuba Hubbard,
James Connor, Trayvon Henderson, R.J. Harvey, and then everybody behind them.
The receivers that were left, Devante Adams, Marvin Harrison, Jr., and Cortland Sutton.
I already had Nekua. I didn't want to have Nekua and Devante on the same team.
I would have taken Marvin Harrison, but Harrison has the same by week as St. Brown and Nekua.
I don't want three receivers with a week eight by.
So Camara was the easy choice, and there weren't any quarterbacks that I loved that were on the board.
there weren't any tight ends.
I went RBRB, Chuba's my next ranked running back.
So Camara and Chuba Hubbard were my picks.
Oh, man, if you're picking in the second half of the first round and you get to rounds three and four,
I think Jamie's going to agree with me.
I don't know about Dave.
I just love the running backs in this range.
Of course.
Like, Bucky went way too late, so he didn't quite make it there.
But don't count on that.
But Omari and Hampton, James Cook, Alvin Camara, Chuba Hubbard, Trayvion Henderson, R.J. Harvey have all just been picked.
And you don't have to love all of them.
But odds are you're going to get yourself a running back you really like in rounds three and or four in this 12-team format.
All right, let me get you round three here.
Round three was Tyreek Hill, Lamar Jackson, T. Higgins, Jackson, Smith, and Jigba.
A little earlier than ADP on JSN there.
That's a guy when I took A. Chan and Gentie, I was hoping JSN would make it back to me.
He did not.
Bucky Irving
Mike Evans
in the middle
of round three
which we like now
Josh Allen
first quarterback
off the board
nope I'm sorry
just dumb out
idiot
Lamar Jackson
did you just call yourself
a dumbass
yes
yes
Lamar Jackson
went with the
second pick
of round three
Josh Allen
went with
the seventh pick
of round three
then I took
Kittle
Jaden Daniels
Omari and Hampton
James Cook
to Jamie
Alvin Camara
to Dave
so
Omarian Hampton
started a run
straight running backs.
And in fact, after Mike Evans was taken with the sixth pick of round three, we went
one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, eleven or twelve picks
before another wide receiver came off the board.
That's pretty telling right there.
So Jamie at 11 took Cook.
Dave took Camara at 312.
At 4.1, he took Hubbard.
Jamie took Henderson.
So they both went running back, running back there.
through four picks
Jamie at Team 11
has Derek Henry
Brian Thomas Jr., James Cook
and Trayvion Henderson
Dave has St. Brown
Pooka Nakua,
Camara and Chuba Hubbard.
So,
you know,
two running backs for Dave,
two receivers,
three running backs for Jamie,
one receiver.
I, at Pick 8,
have no receivers.
Gentie, A, Chan,
Kittle, and Burrow.
I bet you end up
happy.
with the receivers you get though i think so you know i think so this has played out and the receivers
that are still on the board harrison sutton tedora macmillan pickins mccloren abuca like we're in
early round five they're all still there i think harrison's a steal in round five to be perfectly
honest with you oh wow he's still around Marvin harrison okay hey i don't know if he makes it all that
we're on pick two of round five and you're kind of in the middle of round five so i'm i'm
And there it goes. He just got picked.
Yeah.
That was a good pick by Jake.
I don't think you should ever expect to get Marvin Harrison, Jr., mid to late, round five.
But there will be plenty of wide receivers.

I'm going to tell you what Heath Cummings is doing in Memphis, right?
Or is it at Memphis?
He's walking in Memphis.
He is walking in Memphis.
I never understood what that line 10 feet off of Beale meant until I went to Memphis and
saw there's a street, Beale Street.
Okay, we'll be right back on fantasy football today.
Jamie, how do you feel about pausing the draft?
I don't.
Yeah, I know.
You never like pausing the draft.
All right, but we're getting a little behind.
Heath is in Memphis doing the creator draft with St. Jude.

It's amazing.
All right.
Adam, what does somewhat at random mean?
I'm going to try to read as many as I can.
But I'm going on vacation, so I don't, you know,
so I don't have as much time as I normally do.
So somewhat at random.
And it's time.
Yeah, go ahead.
When's the last time you went on vacation in late August?
Yeah, for one day.
One day, I'm taking off.
One day.
I don't want to hear it.
You all took off time.
Dave, you took one day vacation in late August.
Get out of here.
You would, no, I'm not taking this from you.
No way.
I took Terry McLaurant.
All right, let's catch up on rounds four and five.
Chuba Hubbard, round four, Chuba Hubbard, Trevion Henderson, Jalen Hertz, R.J. Harvey, Joe Burrow.
First five picks are three running backs and two quarterbacks.
Now we've got three tight ends off the board and five quarterbacks off the board.
So it could be a while before we see either of those two positions.
And now we get a little bit of a run on wide receiver in the middle of round four.
Garrett Wilson.
And I know we might be a little nervous about Garrett Wilson.
Is this a good spot for him mid-round four?
Absolutely.
You're still going to get a lot of catches, right?
A lot of targets.
All right.
Then D.K. Metcalfe.
How would you guys have drafted this run of four wide receivers?
Garrett Wilson, D.K. Metcalf.
Jamie, I think you should pause the draft
because I'd love to get your thoughts live
as you make this pick.
And I'll get you there soon, I promise.
But how would you guys have drafted?
Garrett Wilson, Devante Adams,
D.K. Metcalfe and Xavier Worthy.
Tell me again, I'm sorry?
Yeah, so it went in order.
I'll give you my order, Jamie,
and then you can change it.
I would have gone Adams way ahead of
Metcalfe Wilson Worthy.
Yeah, I agree.
Okay.
Obviously, there's some Matthew Stafford concerns in there.
After that, we had Brees Hall and Ken Walker.
So again, Brees Hall is a faller, but 10th pick of round three, and Ken Walker's a faller.
How do you feel about them at round four?
I'm sorry, 10th and 11th picks of round four for Brees Hall and Ken Walker.
Love the value for Walker.
I think this is about the beginning.
I would start to consider Brees Hall if he's in the range of running backs that you're looking at.
But I would not take Brees Hall in round three by any stretch.
and Walker has definitely fallen to round four.
So I would take Walker after Hampton, Cook,
Hampton, Cook, Henderson, and Harvey.
But I would take him ahead of Camara and Hubbard.
Would you take him ahead of James Connor?
I would take him ahead of James Connor, yes.
Okay, because I feel like there's that range of like
veterinary running backs, Hubbard, Connor,
Camara should be in there,
Walker's in there, Breese is in there.
I think once you see one or two of those running backs,
back's when you know the rest of them are going to follow really soon after i think we're also
seeing it's a really big tier of running backs and a big tier of wide receivers and they could go in any
order camara went camara and hubbard went at 36 and 37 then you had henderson harvey
but harvey's adp is still in round five maybe even round six breese hall ken walker um deandre
swift would soon go and then you've got this group of wide receivers garret wilson d k metcalf
devante adams savior worthy went a little earlier than we usually see him go
So Jameson Williams went at the last pick of round four, and that's where we are.
And Mahomes went with the first pick of – that's exactly Mahomes' ADP.
So Brandon, who had the number one overall pick and took Chase, took Patrick Mahomes' first pick of round five.
He's probably saying, I want Mahomes.
I can't get him at the last pick of round six.
I'm going to take him first pick of round five.
After Mahomes, it was Marvin Harrison, D'Andre Swift, George Pickens, Cortland Sutton.
We love that pick.
Jalen Waddle, a little earlier than usual.
Teteroa McMillan.
And then I took my first wide receiver, Terry McLoren.
And then Isaiah Pacheco went.
Dan's just taking all my guys.
James Connor went right after Pacheco.
James Connor, by the way, top 12, basically every year when he's healthy.
But he's getting up there in age.
A mecca, a buca to Jamie.
Holy moly.
That is what?
That's 59th overall you took abuca?
Yeah, so I knew Dave probably had inkling to want to draft him.
So there was a handful of receivers that have sort of bunched together of Abuka, Ridley, Judy, Pearsall, I think DJ Moore still on the board.
Those guys.
So I'm like, I don't think I'd get a Bucca coming back.
So let me take him before Dave picks.
So as you always hear me say, know your league.
and so I took a buca
and then I still got Ridley
who I have ranked very similar
All right, so Jamie took a buca 59th
and Dave took Tony Pollard
and then he took Ricky Pearsall
so the days of getting Ricky Pearsall
in the seventh round are probably done
as he went with the first pick of the sixth round
Well, what's his ADP?
Well, it's hard to say
because you know he's such a big riser
but I can use a date range on NFC
so how about I...
Would you mind doing that?
Because I'm curious if he's still going to be
like a round six pick
and in everybody's drafts this weekend.
All right.
I'm just going to look at the last three days of non-superflex drafts.
Right.
Like he's around 8-pick and I don't think you can get that long.
He's wide receiver 32.
And I'm not going to give you, he's going 63rd, but wide receivers go really early in this
ADP, so everybody's pushed up.
But Abuka's wide receiver 31 and Pearsall's wide receiver 32.
And then it's Rishi Rice, Jerry, Judy, Travis, Hunter.
It's basically exactly what we're seeing in this.
draft, Rice hasn't come off the board yet, but the other guys, oh, Judy hasn't come off the board yet, or has he?
Judy is not.
All right, so after Dave took Pollard to end round five, he took Pearsall, then Ridley goes to Jamie, as he mentioned.
And then Devante Smith, DJ Moore, and I took Travis Hunter.
Why Hunter over Judy?
You know, I have so many.
I have, we're not playing this out,
so maybe I should have just done it the other way,
but I taken Jerry Judy in my last,
each of my last two drafts.
But actually, I think I just like Hunter better.
But it's very close.
That was between those two.
And I was really considering Rishi Rice,
you know, because he's going to be,
I think, the best of all of this group
while he's playing.
So I'm glad you said that.
First off, I don't know if I'd want to pair Rice and McLaren together,
just with how that could go.
But I do think in a two-receiver league, it's much easier to get away with drafting rice,
especially with your build earlier, because he's going to get you off to those first four games,
hopefully playing at a very high level.
He may get this extended if the appeal process goes longer than that.
But again, you're trying to maximize what has been a little bit of a lull in your receiving core.
That's the way to do it.
Yeah, it was very appealing.
You know, you figure, look, we're going to get him for at least the first four games probably, unless they come to some sort of settlement.
His hearing is after the first four games.
This is Rishi Rice we're talking about.
Your team is going to change so much throughout the course of the season.
Your roster in week four is going to be different than the one you drafted in week one.
So, you know, just get the points from Rishie Rice.
There is a chance that this lingers and lingers, as Jamie mentioned.
You don't know what the status is going to be, and he's just so good.
Three receiver league, it's a little different, a little more challenging.
Right.
Two receivers, two flex is a little more challenging.
He's still on board.
Wow.
In this format, like, I probably should have considered it too because I already filled my flex.
Well, like, I'm up in three picks.
Let's go out great for you.
Yeah, we're in round seven.
So anyway, what you're going to see is this wide receiver is going to be very popular in rounds five and six.
And we're going to start to run out of the.
the ones that people really want to start
once we get to round seven.
Matthew Golden was the first pick of round seven.
We still do have Rishi Rice on the board,
but we have Debo Samuel, Jacoby Myers,
Roma Dunzei, Jordan Addison.
I'm guessing people are going to be more comfortable
with these guys being bench receivers or flexes for them.
So rounds five and six is going to be
wide receiver heavy.
If you're loaded at wide receiver,
then you might be able to see some running backs
fall to you that you like.
But let's recap round six.
It was Pearsall, Ridley,
Devante Smith, D.J. Moore, Travis Hunter, Aaron Jones, Sam Leporta.
Dave, David Montgomery goes here, and then Jordan Mason was the next pick.
You know, Montgomery going kind of late in round six, mid-round six, let's say, is later than
what we used to see. Do you think he's been a faller and do you think it's been justified?
it's a little bit justified because there's so much excitement for not just jimir gibbs but really the whole passing offense in detroit just rave reviews all training camp long i do still view montgomery as a low end rb2 though and this is i'm okay with i would i be okay with round five for montgomery maybe like at the tail end in a full ppr not ppr easily yes maybe this is where we should expect montgomery to go because
People aren't excited to draft him.
I don't think people really believe that he will be as good as he was last year,
certainly in the passing game.
Wow.
Yeah, baby.
Unablely-y-rishy-rice.
80th overall as by flex.
This worked out.
I think Montgomery is a solid pick, not a sexy pick.
But when you're getting him where is it around six?
Yeah, it's solid.
Well, Jordan Mason and then Jay-L.
Okay, we got to talk about this.
Let's talk about the Steelers running back.
This Jordan Mason was the next pick.
The next running back off the board after Mason was Jalen Warren.
After Mason, it was Judy Flowers, Andrews.
And now I don't, do you guys know how deep?
I think we're about 36-ish wide receivers deep.
And we're starting probably to get to the point where it's a little bit riskier.
Matthew Golden, after Mark Andrews was taken,
and Andrews was taken before Najoku.
You guys liked Najoku better than Andrews, right?
Yes.
Do you like the Nogoku?
Yes.
in this format.
Do you like Nijoku and PPR better than Leporta?
Do I like Njoku better than Leportia?
Yes.
Dave?
I'm just mad at Jamie right now for taking Kiann Coleman right in front of me in round seven.
I thought for sure he'd make it back to me.
No one's taking Kiann Coleman in round seven.
I know, right?
Nobody puts baby in a corner.
All right.
Ah, crap.
Dave, you're on the clock.
So you've got...
No, I quit.
I quit.
The same thing happened to me.
I'm going with Tyrone Trace.
and just build out my running back depth.
I've got four pretty good running backs,
Camara, Chuba, Pollard, and Tyrone Tracy.
Maybe Camara can be a stud.
Chuba can be okay.
But, you know, the strength of my team is going to be in my receivers.
St. Brown and Pooka should be great.
I think Piersall is a breakout.
And since it's round eight,
and I've only talked about them 6,432 times since March,
I will take Tyler Warren to be my tight end.
Yeah, you know what?
Look, we're seeing guys going away ahead of their ADP.
Warren going 85th, Coleman going 83rd, but that's okay, especially when you're picking 11th and 12th and you're not up again for a while.
So Dave goes with Tyler Warren and Tyrone Tracy Jr. at the turn.
Now the Steelers running backs, because I am probably going to take Caleb Johnson.
Jaylen, if he's available when I pick and three picks, Jamie just took Stefan Diggs, T.J. Hawkinson off the board, I'm on deck.
So what we saw last night
Isn't necessarily indicative of what's going to happen
But it was not good for Jalen Warren
Unless you guys
Because he didn't play third down
Gainwell was the third down back
So if Caleb Johnson's going to split with Warren
On first and second down
And Gainwell at least is going to have a say on third down
And Gainwell was exclusively the third down back last night
on two possessions.
That was not good for Warren.
Again, doesn't mean it will happen that way.
I think it's awful for Caleb Johnson.
I don't think so because I think Caleb Johnson could just become their first and second down running back.
If he's, look, why did they draft Caleb Johnson?
Why did they sign Kenneth Gainwell?
I don't think Aaron Rogers wants to be on the field with Caleb Johnson in any time that he's going to drop back and throw it to football.
So maybe if their script early in the game is we're going to run eight of our first 10 plays.
then maybe there's Caleb Johnson on the field more.
It feels like he's got a very,
very long way to go to be considered a starter for this team.
I concur.
The other thing I'll mention, though,
is the Steelers are getting to know Kenneth Gainwell,
and I think everybody would have told you before the preseason started.
Yeah, Kenny Gainwell is capable of playing on any down in the NFL.
But they might have just simply wanted to see how he would do playing third down for them
in a preseason game.
Just because you see in a preseason game,
it's true.
It's not indicative of how the Steelers intend to roll this year.
They know they've got a guy for third down in Jalen Warren,
if they so choose.
And what happened last night could be indicative also, potentially,
of what they could do.
I'd be surprised if it ended up happening that way.
I think about, well, think about game
while starting a preseason game before Caleb Johnson got in.
Think about him getting the opportunity to play on passing
downs last night.
It also was Mason Rudolph starting.
That's a big part of the two, you know, so it's not exactly what we're going to see.
I think if you're going to say Adam, like it was bad for Warren, like he put the ball
on the ground, they recovered it, you know, not the worst situation, but not great.
He slipped on one route, you know, again, how much they're going to value that type of
performance versus, you know, what he, what he did.
I just think Warren's their guy and Gainwell is going to mix in.
Maybe he is the third downback, but we talked about this at some point this week.
Those two guys grade out Warren and Gainwell as two of the better pass blocking running backs in the league.
And you have a 40-year-old non-mobile quarterback.
Like, it's going to be very tough for Caleb Johnson to be in a primary spot right away.
He may work his way.
No, not right away.
Not right away.
I completely agree.
It could be a three-headed monster for a considerable amount of time.
But, Jamie, if they love Jalen Warren so much, why do they sign a third downback?
Why do they draft Caleb Johnson?
Why do they never turn it over?
I don't think you're wrong.
I mean, listen, Jalen Warren has been, you know, kept at bay in certain regards for a long time.
That's why I think they're trying to find answers.
But clearly what they're seeing, you know, holding out Jalen Warren in the first two preseason games and then they come out and he's their starter.
Like, there's a huge opportunity here for him.
So, you know, looking at the chat, you're getting a lot of, I'm staying away from the Steelers running backs.
I get that.
You know, it's not exactly a back foot I think you want to go after.
I draft a lot of Jalen Warren, but I take him as my third or fourth running back, depending
on the build, because I still think that there's some upside there to be a strong flex.
I don't think you're going to get a top 20 running back unless there's just injuries or he's their goal line guy.
But I think Jalen Warren's in a pretty good spot.
Like the fact that Caleb Johnson has struggled to ascend their depth chart and the fact that Kenneth Gainwell's his main competition at this point,
I think it's a good place for Jalen Warren's upside.
to see where he can go.
I don't know how you feel about PFF grades and stats guys,
but I'm looking at it right now.
Jaylen Warren last year,
63 pass blocking snaps.
He allowed a pressure on 10 of them.
The quarterback was hurried on all 10 of them.
He had a dark red frame of 22.4.
He got run over last night, Dave.
Did you see that?
He got crushed on past blocking.
Yeah, so maybe it is indicative of how the Steelers intend to roll this year.
And maybe we know,
his grade wasn't great last year either, but he also didn't play a full allotment.
It is messy.
It makes me want to draft both Warren and Caleb Johnson a little bit less now.
I don't know if I said this on the mailbag, but Aaron Rogers, oh, no, it wouldn't have been
the mailbag.
It would have been just yesterday's Thursday morning show.
Aaron Rogers' running back target rate has been around 20% five straight years.
That's good.
That's high.
Yeah, that's good.
He was ninth in the NFL last year.
He will dump it off.
to the running back, whoever's on that field on first and second down.
I think, and you know, other people pointed out on X last night that this was the first
time Caleb Johnson was running behind the first team offensive line, and he did look a lot
better.
I think he was clearly going against backups, but this was his best preseason performance, I'd
have to say.
I guess I'm sort of talking myself into Caleb Johnson, but you're going to have to be patient.
At the right point on draft day, I don't think there's a problem with it.
But I don't, I think he was.
better than he was in the preseason.
And I think the factors that you talked about obviously matter.
But he was still stopping his feet at times.
You didn't really necessarily see him explode when he was running.
He seemed to be going at the same speed pretty much all the way.
I don't know.
I feel like he's more of like a late round seven at best.
Where did I take him?
I took him in round eight, right?
That seems fair.
I took him in round eight.
By the way, let's catch people up.
Let's take a break and catch people up on what's been going on in the draft.
But just to be official, Jamie's favorite Steelers running back is Jalen Warren.
Dave's yours is?
It's Warren and PPR.
In half PPR?
Amy did it again.
I heard of drafting with Jamie.
Dick Baker.
Baker at 107th.
Dave, in half PPR, which Steelers running back?
Still Warren.
All right, let's just, before we go to break,
has St. Brown and Nakuwa,
Camara, Chuba Hubbard,
Tony Pollard,
Ricky Pearsall,
Tyrone Tracy,
Tyler Warren.
You've got your tight end.
You've got four running backs,
three receivers.
You're on the clock for two picks.
Go for it.
I am going all Jaguars running backs
with my next two picks.
Was ETSA on the board?
Acial Tootin.
E.N. was gone?
Yeah, E.T.M. was gone.
So I'm going to take two shots
at that backfield and hope that at some point this season,
And I've got the one guy that ends up being the best one in Jacksonville.
Jamie took Jerome Ford.
Zach took Luther Burden.
I'll make my pick on the air and then we'll take a break.
I'm up next.
I'm on deck.
I have Joe Burrow and George Kittle.
I have Ashton Genty and Devon A. Chan.
I have Terry McLorin, Travis Hunter, and Rishie Rice at Flex.
I have Giovante Williams and Caleb Johnson on my bench.
You need some receiver.
I definitely need some receivers.
You know, look,
Rashid Shahid is boring.
He's injured.
But he ain't dead.
So let's draft Khalil Shakir for some PPR points.
All right.
Quick break.
We'll finish up this draft as we're already in round 10.
We have, we only have 13 rounds.
It'll be done pretty soon.
We'll recap our teams and other teams as well.
We'll be right back.

Long-Bandie Twizzlers Candy keeps the fun going.
Keep the fun going.
Going.
Twizzlers, keep the fun going.
All right, guys, I'm going to read, let's see, we're in round 10.
I'm going to read rounds 8, 9, and 10 for everybody.
And I'm just going to go pick by pick.
And I just want you to tell me, you know, bad pick, fine pick, good pick.
Okay.
We'll start in round eight.
Tyler Warren.
The best pick in this draft.
Good pick.
Stefan Diggs.
Good pick.
I think that's a good pick.
T.J. Hawkinson.
And honestly, Dave, why don't you tell us why you took Tyler Warren ahead of T.J.
Hawkinson in a PPR league?
Because I think Tyler Warren has more upside than Hawkinson.
I think he's going to see plenty of targets.
I believe in his talent.
and he's not on a team with two other really good wide receivers.
And I mean really good, Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.
Both of them have quarterback issues.
I probably like the quarterback in Minnesota better than the quarterbacks in Indianapolis.
But when you're throwing short and intermediate passes to your big tight end with a huge catch radius,
you can overcome that.
I think Hockinson will be third on the target pecking order for Minnesota.
I think Tyler Warren could be first on the pecking order.
border for Indianapolis.
Okay, Jordan Addison, round eight.
Good pick.
I'm good with him in that range, for sure.
Caleb Johnson, round eight.
Good pick.
It's fine.
Zach Charbonnet, round eight.
Great pick.
I feel like it's a little too soon for him, but it's, again, fine.
Cooper Cup round eight.
Good pick.
It's okay.
Joe Mixin, 90-second overall, round eight.
Terrible pick
I'm kidding, good pick
I've got them closer to 100th overall
So it's not that big of a deal
It wasn't me this time
Josh Downs round eight
Good pick
Fine
Travis ETN round eight
Good pick
Yeah fine
Chris Godwin round eight
Good fine
That's a tough one for me
Because you can't even put him on Pupp
And he's going to miss the first
Probably the first four games
Yeah that does sting
Two Receiver League, though, it's easy to wait it out.
That's true.
Savion Williams' last pick of round eight.
Terrible pick.
Yeah, don't draft him.
Round nine, Jaden Blue, before Javante Williams.
Good pick.
I would have liked Jane Blue a little later, so not a great pick.
Quintan Judkins.
Okay, pick.
Yeah, I would have taken Judkins a little bit later, too,
because there's uncertainty about when he'll be back.
Joanne Jennings.
Uncertainly about when he will be back, but this is round 9.
This is round 9.99th overall, Joanne Jennings.
It's fine. It's good.
Jaden Reed, 100th.
Okay.
Michael Pittman.
Good pick.
A little too soon for me.
Man, I suck at this.
Jacori Kroski Merritt, 1002nd.
Great pick.
I think it's too soon.
By the way, Chris Rodriguez is apparently going to be the goal lineback, according to Dan Quinn.
So is Chikori Kroski?
Who's the first one that should come off the board in that backfield?
Austin Eccler, Jacori Kroski, Merritt.
Christian Kirk 103, overall, round nine.
Good pick.
I think that's a very good pick.
Javante Williams, 104th, round nine.
I don't know if there's a good time to draft Javante Williams.
This fine spot for me.
Good pick.
Braylin Allen.
Stupid, Dan.
Great pick.
Yeah
Austin Eccler
Great pick
Baker Mayfield
Awesome pick
Okay Jamie
Tank Biggsby for Dave
And that brings us to round 10
Hold on I'm on the clock here
Let's see
I think I just have some luxury
I can do whatever the heck I want
You guys have been touting to Mario Douglas
So I'm going to listen to you
Oh you bastard
But I should look at the running backs
We're available too
Ooh
Oh
You make these noises.
You should probably say some names.
Taj Spears.
I think he's being way under value.
I know he's got the high ankle sprain.
That sucks.
He's probably not going to play week one based on what I've.
Well,
whatever.
I'm planning on him not playing week one.
I still think they have said over and over.
They want to have a split backfield here.
More Tai J. Spears.
The only reason he's available at 128th overall is the injury.
I can wait it out.
So I took Taj Spears.
Now, Jamie, you can draft to Mario Douglas if he falls to you.
Ali Gordon went right after Tajay Spears.
You should have taken him.
That's what I was hoping to get.
Oh, I forgot I have A-chan.
I, oh, what's wrong with me?
You're not good at this.
Well, you can't draft.
You can't draft and host.
You can't draft and host.
Two picks right in front of me that I wanted.
But honestly, like I like Spears so much more than Ollie Gordon.
Ali Gordon, what was his 40 time?
It was like a 10-second 40.
It was 4-6-something, I think.
4-6-1.
That is not good.
He is just not fast.
No, it wasn't.
But this dude led the FBS in rushing two years ago.
he's very talented he ran with physicality in the practice against jacksonville which is something
we haven't really seen from from the other dolphins running backs i think he might i like spears
i don't think he'll necessarily have like a huge role he's not going to take a chan off the field
very much but like it's a guy that might get in the neighborhood of seven to eight touches a week
he can catch the ball and if a chan is hurt i like gordon can end up being a total steal at this point
I love taking the chance with him in this range.
Jamie, you're on the clock with one second left.
Oh, no.
Ray Davis.
You have James Cook, right?
Yep.
All right, so this is a good time to ask this question, right?
You just heard me take Spears over Ali Gordon and then kind of lament it.
But actually, reflecting on it, I think Spears was the right pick because we don't know the severity of Jalen Wright's injury, first of all.
And they say they're being cautious with Devon A. Chan.
You've got to be a little concerned, but they say they're just holding them out precautionary.
But do you take your handcuff or do you take a different team's handcuff?
Because then if I have Achan and he stays healthy and I have spears and Pollard gets hurt,
well, then all of a sudden I'm just completely loaded at running back.
So what's the philosophy for you, Dave?
On which?
On taking your handcuff.
Your own backup versus somebody else's?
In the case of Achan, I think it makes sense to get your own handcuff.
Any running back that you draft where in the back of your mind,
you're worried about an injury and you believe in the guy behind him,
I think it's worth doing.
If I drafted Kenneth Walker,
I'm going to go out of my way to get Zach Charbonnet.
And then I've got that Seattle backfield,
which is supposed to run the football and do it better than they did last year.
I have it locked up.
I've got an RB2 and like a high-end RB2.
I think, though, that's a tough example, though,
because you have to commit so much earlier to Sharbonne.
I agree, but that's the type of thing that you should do
and you should think about when you lay out the order in which you're going to pick players
and you have to say to yourself, okay, if I get Ken Walker in round three or round four,
I've got to spend that round eight pick on Zach Charbonnet.
And I hope I get him in round eight because a lot of other people are going to go after him.
A-chan is banged up, getting Ollie Gordon, it would make sense.
Christian McCaffrey once upon a time got banged up.
Isaac Arendo did great.
I'd love to pair those two guys.
And so in those instances where you've got a running back,
that you're fine starting and you're happy that you have them.
But you know that there's a chance that they could get hurt along the way.
And the backup running back is very good.
You take the backup.
You at least target the backup.
Did someone take Jalen Wright already?
Wow, that surprised me.
I just figured I would take Jalen Wright, but he's gone.
He went before Gordon.
I didn't even realize that.
I don't understand that.
Yeah, I think you said if you think the backup running back's good.
I'm not sure about that with Ali Gordon.
I don't think they're going to use them in the passing game, really.
Right, but if...
No, I think they could.
Again, anybody drafting this weekend is looking at there's a chance that A. Chan could be out for week one.
There's a chance now Jalen Wright could be out for week one.
There's a chance that Ollie Gordon is the starting running back against the Indianapolis Colts.
So in the case of where you were drafting, I think it would have made more sense for your team.
And based on how the injury is going, you may have been able to get Spears on the way back.
Possibly, but he was the highest ranked running back in the consensus ranking.
that I'm using in this draft.
But I think just for your roster build,
taking Olly Gordon would have made more sense.
Jamie, was Taije on your radar?
Yeah, absolutely.
Okay, he wasn't on mine.
I wasn't like going out of my way to draft him.
I think just, honestly, I was going out of my way to draft Olly Gordon.
He was my next highest rated running back.
Yeah.
Well, so listen, so, you know, I have a team that because I took a tight end in
round three and a quarterback in round four,
and I took Gentie and,
A-chan, right? So you got to pay attention. I had to obviously spend capital at wide receiver,
which I did in rounds five, six, seven with McLauran Hunter Rishi Rice. But I could have no A-chan
in week one. So who am I starting in week one? Javante Williams, Caleb Johnson, maybe
Ollie Gordon made more sense. I don't, I can't sit here and say in week one that for sure,
Ali Gordon's going to be better than Javante Williams. I'm fine starting Jvante Williams if I
have to. I mean, hopefully I'm starting A-chan. But just keep that in mind, if you do a build like
mine where you force yourself to load up at wide receiver in the mid rounds, you can't take
good running back value there because you already have, you know, Gentie and A-chan, you have
to take wide receivers, you don't have any. Well, you know, if A-chan's going to your running
backs, you better be prepared to have someone good to start at running back in week one.
Yeah, I mean, well, first off, you got a gift with Rashi Rice, so that helps. I think just again,
knowing your build, and specifically the players that you have, like getting the opportunity
to maybe just lock up that Dolphins backfield, even if you just, you may need them for week one.
I mean, what if McLaurin doesn't play in week one?
I'm not saying he's not going to be on the roster or anything like that, but hasn't practiced.
And what if Rice's suspension gets changed for week one?
Oh, listen, I'm going to lose week one.
Joe Burroughs got Cleveland, right?
Oh, he'll be fine.
They're never good at Cleveland.
He's, well, he scored 28 points against them in week 16, but,
at Cleveland. He scored 19 points in weeks out. I'm going to forget it.
A. Chan's out. Burroughs going to suck at Cleveland.
Travis Hunter is going to play defense the entire time. I'm going to lose me.
You didn't know we're playing this league out for $1,000?
Yeah. Let's catch you up on some picks here. We were in round 10. I'll go back to round
10. And we don't have to do the, you know, rate the picks again. But I'll just tell
people who was taken in round 10. It was Bachel Tutton, Jerome Ford, Luther Burden, Tucker
Kraft, Khalil Shakir, Trey Benson, Cam Scadaboo,
Bo Nix, Ramandre Stevenson, Brian Robinson, Jr.
This is an interesting flyer to take.
Darnell Mooney, Jalen Wright.
You probably should have taken Brian Robinson, Jr.,
because he may be the Dolphins started running back in week one.
Yeah, never know.
Rashad Bateman in round 11, then Evan Ingram, Nick Chubb.
That's an interesting pick with Nixon possibly starting on the Pupp list.
It's a good value.
And I would say that if he had been available where I had taken Spears, I would have taken Chub.
Nick Chub, Drake, Drake, he.
Tina Allen, Dack Prescott, Brandon, Iuke, Tijey Spears, Ali Gordon, Colston Loveland, Ray Davis, and Jared Gough.
Round 12.
We're in our last five picks.
How about that?
Yeah, you're on the clock, too.
All right.
I'm just going to take...
You should do a friendship strategy right here.
Perfect spot for you.
Well, who do I have?
Who's my friendship strategy?
Take Troy Franklin or Pat Bryant.
No, I'm not spending two picks on Denver wide receivers.
Why?
No way.
there's not a tight end that I like
I have kiddle but there's not like a good
take Josh Palmer then take Markies Brown
I'm not taking these bums
I'm going to take Caleb Williams
see if I hit the lottery
so you have Joe Burrow
What if Burrow gets hurt Jamie
You have a questionable receiving core
And maybe you're running back that's not there
I don't have a questionable receiving core
I have an amazing receiving core
I've it's fine
I have Rishi Rice
Terry McLoren
Both of these guys top 16 per game last year
I have Travis
Hunter, who's the greatest player in football, history maybe.
And then I have Khalil Shakir and Marvin Mims.
I'm fine.
No, I get, look, we tell people to spend picks on running backs who have no value unless
there's an injury.
We say, go ahead, Jamie, and you take Ray Davis in round 11.
He's not going to be worth squat unless James Cook gets hurt.
But I'm not allowed to draft Caleb Will.
who could be really good this year
and use him as a handcuff for Joe Burrow
because if Burrow gets hurt,
at least I can turn to Caleb Williams.
This philosophy makes no sense.
I am right about picking two quarterbacks.
I will take that to my grave.
You are correct in one regard.
Dave, how do you value Caleb Williams
versus Jordan Love, Trevor Lawrence, J.J. McCarthy.
Keep going.
To a tongue about Lois, C.J. Stroud.
How do you value Caleb Williams?
Better by leaps and bounds in the same range, worse?
He's in between McCarthy and Stroudon.
So there are at least three quarterbacks on the waiver wire that I would rather have than Caleb Williams at this point.
Now, if Caleb Williams just catches total fire, he pulls a Jaden Daniels in his second season,
then maybe you've got something there at him and maybe you could trade one of your quarterback.
Exactly.
But that's the only way it really pays off.
Okay, that's fine.
I'll take that gamble.
Guess what?
Why do you not take one of your guys, though?
Romeo Dobbs was there.
Romeo Dobbs is fine.
He's not going to catch fire and become somebody that I could make a trade.
But you're never playing Caleb Williams unless Joe Burrow gets hurt.
You may have to start Romeo.
And by the way, all those quarterbacks that you mentioned, this is what's going to happen.
All those quarterbacks that you mentioned on the waiver wire, Jordan Love and Tuatunga by Loa and Trevor Lawrence and all that.
After week one, you're going to drop the garbage player that you pick.
You're going to, the Josh Palmer's and the Jake Ferguson's of the world.
I might drop my last pick in an hour.
Yeah, you drafted Adam Thielen.
If Trevor Lawrence has a big week and looks like he could be primed for a big season,
you're going to drop the garbage player at the end of your bench
and you're going to pick up those quarterbacks in the first couple of weeks.
And all of a sudden, this whole argument that I can just play the waiver wire,
it's not going to really exist anymore.
It's going to exist, but not in quite as good of a fashion.
Because these quarterbacks are going to get picked up if they are good.
So, just, I don't want to.
I didn't draft Josh Palmer.
A handful of wide receivers and a handful of running backs.
What's that?
If that's the case, there's going to be a handful of wide receivers and running backs.
You're going to pick up off waivers, too.
But they're not going to be good.
Josh Palmer, he had his opportunity last year.
He's nothing.
He's not fantasy relevant.
He looked pretty good in practice.
Good for him.
He's not fantasy relevant.
We know who Josh Palmer is.
I agree.
I'm just messing around.
I love Johnny Airport.
He's the best.
Um, okay, Johnny says, Adam doesn't like admitting mistakes.
At home, it's never his fault that the toilet seat has been left up.
Andrew, what did you do, Andrew?
Johnny, you don't know anything about me in my house.
Okay, what you should know is that I have a monster cat who is ruining my life who drinks from the toilet because she thinks she's a dog or something.
So we have a very strict rule.
Toilet seat is always down.
I think is your cat.
She, she clon.
She's not that big.
How little is your toilet?
No, cats are very strict.
spry, you know? Do you use the little pot, uh, potty training toilet for yourself? Yes,
you do. You absolutely do. Wait, I don't have one of those, Jamie. My kids are potty trade.
I never have one of those, though, and you probably use it. No, I never had one of those. We never
did the little things. Oh, Nando would love this conversation. Oh, oh, and another thing, while we're on
the subject, you did a great job on the tennis match, but you kept referencing this story about how
I clogged Nando's toilet.
This was so unfair.
An abuse of your power
with me not being able to say anything.
Nando's toilet was broken.
I went number one
and I tried to flush and it didn't work.
I did not clog his toilet, okay?
Let's talk about our teams.
Okay, I'll rephrase it.
You overflowed his toilet.
Let's talk about our team.
I think it's one man's word versus another.
I didn't overfloat.
I would lean with the homeowner in this case.
No.
He came into my house.
It was a Thursday.
I had a perfectly working toilet.
And then he proceeded to, I can't say it, I'll get in trouble.
He soiled the sanctity of my American standard.
Yeah, listen, if I'm going to do that, it would have to be an emergency for me to use someone's bathroom, okay, for that, like someone else's.
Grow up, people, hold it in.
You're at a friend's house?
Hold it in and wait to get home.
Who does that?
He couldn't hold it in.
I gave him beans for lunch.
Let's pick, Dave, let's pick an interesting build at the beginning of the...
RJ.
Yeah, let's talk about RJ.
Thomas, I am having a little bit of trouble seeing.
Can you take...
Yeah, thank you.
RJ had the third pick, and he went receiver, receiver, receiver.
I think I hate his team.
So Jefferson, AJ...
I would love it if it was Walker and Swift.
Instead of Breeze Hall and.
Swift.
Yeah,
Walker and Hall.
Actually,
getting A.J.
Brown around, too,
is pretty freaking cool.
Jefferson,
AJ Brown,
T. Higgins to start.
Now, remember.
That's a,
banger start.
That's his flex.
That's his flex.
That's his flex there.
So he could have taken,
how do you pass up
Bucky Irving, though,
for T. Higgins to do this build?
I would have taken Bucky,
too.
But maybe he didn't like Bucky.
Maybe he doesn't believe in him.
If you play it out differently,
and he goes, Jefferson, Brown, Bucky.
And then instead of Breece Hall, it's...
Marvin Harrison.
Marvin Harrison or James and Williams, whoever you want to put there.
We're Sutton.
George Pickens.
Or Sutton.
Sutton.
Yeah, any of those receivers.
Like, that might be awesome.
I agree with you.
All right, but let's play it out anyway.
So he goes, Jefferson, A.J. Brown, T. Higgins.
Breece Hall, DeAndre Swift.
That could have been Ken Walker, Pacheco, Connor, whatever.
Yeah, Ken Walker and Pacheco would have been better.
Sure.
But he goes, Breece Hall.
Connor and Ken, can, yeah.
I love it.
I love it.
Then he goes to the fact that he, and he stole Jerry Judy as his fourth receiver.
And then I think getting Jalen Warren and Travis Etyn, like that's a pretty solid running back core of, you know, we're obviously, I think, lower on Breece Hall.
Everybody loves Breece Hall still.
So Brise Hall, DeAndre Swift, Jalen Warren, Travis E.N.
The way he started his team with four receivers in his first six picks, like that's pretty awesome.
I don't know.
I'm not feeling it.
First of all, he's got.
have liked it better either if he took bucky third and then another receiver where he took swift or
haul or if he had stuck with the first three receivers and gone with walker and conner in rounds four and
five i'm fine with judy and six oh by the way he's got rock purdy and now he gotter all the running
backs if he had taken walker he could have had when was charbonnet drafted well listen would have had
sharbine and seven but but also he his last two picks were purdy and goddard so i think
think we're not playing this out but i think rj probably goes into this going jerry judy's my number four
wide receiver juan jennings my number five wide receiver i've got some trade possibilities here
because like i don't want to be super weak at i don't want to go three receivers and and be i and have
goddard i don't know i don't love the team trade you jerry judy for the best quarterback ever
it's got the best arm ever i think i think i think it's realistic right let's go to um one more
Let's go to one team in the middle.
Who do you want to talk about?
You want to talk about maybe the Barclay-Kyrin team?
Why don't we look at Joel's team?
Because he took a tight end and a quarterback
with two of his first three picks.
Okay, so this is team seven.
So he goes McCaffrey,
Brock Bowers in round two,
Josh Allen in round three,
Garrett Wilson,
Teteroa McMillan,
and his RB2 is Aaron Jones in round six.
Romo Dunzee, round seven.
Zach Charbonnet,
round eight. So his starting lineup is Josh Allen at quarterback, Brock Bowers at tight end,
Christian McCaffrey and Aaron Jones with Charbonnet on the bench and Trey Benson on the bench,
Garrett Wilson, Teteroa McMillan, Romo Dunzee. I guess O'Dunzee is the flex and Christian
Kirk's on the bench. Yeah, I hate it. Oh, that's funny. I don't. I don't love it. You know,
in exchange for having one of the top tight ends
and one of the top quarterbacks,
he's kind of okay at RB2
and he's kind of okay at flex.
What would have made it better, Jamie,
if he had taken Montgomery instead of Aaron Jones?
Definitely that, for me at least.
And then I probably would have taken,
in his situation,
I definitely would have taken Rashi Rice over Rundze.
Like, that would have been fantastic.
I would take him Myers over Rundze.
I would have taken Coleman over Rundze.
I would have taken Diggs over,
doing something like i just think you need a little bit more security there i love the
sharpeney pick i think kirk is a great pick you know so like what he did at the back end of
the draft and you know even taking a flyer on iuk but i just don't love some of the selections
there so okay but this is important distinction right andson over isaac garendo
he took i you hold on dave hold on he almost had garendo where he took pits more important thing
is you can you can you know debate the picks the build could have worked right yeah the
build could work yeah so if you want to do this you want to go mechanics
Gaffrey, Bowers, Josh Allen, and then maybe Garrett Wilson doesn't fall there,
but you could still take Devante Adams, D.C.
Yeah, right.
You could have had your wide receiver one there.
Teterola McMillan in round five, we like.
Then you take David Montgomery in round six, or Aaron Jones, if you like him.
It can work.
It can work.
All right, let's talk about our teams here.
I had the next pick.
Weird, weird team for me.
Gentie, A. Chan, Kittle, Joe Burrow.
Like a kind of exciting start.
Terry McLaren.
receiver.
Terry McClureen, Travis Hunter, Rishie Rice.
I mean, the Rishie Rice pick kind of saved this team.
Of course.
Caleb Johnson, Giovante Williams, and Tijey Spears on my bench.
I actually like that.
Khalil Shakir is my wide receiver four.
I wish that were someone else, but it's okay.
And Marvin Mims, I took a shot on, and then Caleb Williams.
So I start Borough at quarterback, Kittle, at tight end,
Gentie and hopefully A-chan, McLaren, Travis Hunter at receiver.
Rishi Rice at Flex.
I actually really like this team.
I think it turned out good enough.
Got lucky with Rishie Rice.
Jamie, pick 11.
Go ahead and take us through your team.
Quarterback, We Baker-Mayfield.
I think that's great value for him where I got him,
which was round nine.
Derek Henry, James Cook at running back,
Brian Thomas Jr., Emeka, Buka,
potentially as a number two receiver or Calvin Ridley
in that spot.
Trayvon Henderson at Flex.
And tight end was just take the last two picks with Dalton Kincaid and Jake Ferguson, hope for the best.
Bench receivers will be either Calvin Ridley or Abuka, Keon Coleman, and Stupon Diggs,
and backup running backs would be Jerome Ford and Ray Davis.
Ford could be a flex for me also.
I know I would start him over Henderson, Cook, or Henry, but Ford should get off to a good start
with the Browns running back situation being what this.
I like this team lot.
Okay.
So again, Jamie's starting lineup is going to be Baker Mayfield, who he took late with Dalton
Kincaid or Jake Ferguson, and then the strength is going to be at receiver and running back.
Derek Henry, James Cook, let's call Trayvion Henderson, or maybe Flex, maybe we wait a week or two,
Brian Thomas, and then you have a Mecca, Abuka, or Calvin Ridley.
Those guys could be receiver two and Flex, very, very strong at receiver, and Keon Coleman,
Stefan Diggs, Jerome Ford, Ray Davis on the bench.
Question, just going to address this question real quick from the chat.
Rishie Rice may not play six to eight weeks of the season, right?
How is taking him over O'Dunzei a win?
Well, the theory is,
Rice is going to be much better than O'Donzei in full PPR when he's healthy.
And that's going to go a long way.
I mean, Rishi Rice was the number two or three wide receiver per game last year.
He was something like number 12 in the last six games of his rookie season.
O'Donze's obviously got to prove it.
And then there just is this possibility that through appeals
and through the arbitrator maybe taking a long time,
or the judge taking a long time to make a decision,
we just, this could really linger.
We don't know that he's going to miss six to eight games.
But it's a good question.
It's a good decision that all of you are going to have to make individually on how you.
I think Armand just had a good point, too, at least the beginning part of it in his message.
Rice will be the guy when he plays and O'Donzee still got to prove himself.
So there is a chance that by the time, and it may be a good pairing of Rice and O'Donzee,
if you can pull it off, by the time O'Donzee starts to get looking like the guy that he could be,
which will probably take a week or two in the season,
that's when rice suspension hits.
But I think it also, you know, you look at the build, you know, so we had discussed Adam that you could have taken rice where you took Hunter and figured out the third receiver spot coming back, which could have been, let's say Jacoby Myers, right?
Then you get those four games of rice, maybe four plus, but given your build, like that's huge.
Yeah.
All right, Dave.
I'm sorry.
Sorry, Jimmy.
Yes, absolutely, absolutely.
Dave, your team, you also waited at quarterback in tight end.
You took Tyler Warren in round eight, Jared Gough, and round 11.
And how did your team turn out?
Well, let's just start with Jamie's idiom of know your foe.
I used idiom the correct way there, didn't I?
Yeah, I think so.
Okay.
If not, then I'm an idiot and you can call me an idiot in the comments.
You do anyway.
But I was sniped on each of my first five picks in the odd rounds.
Jamie took Henry, Cook,
Ibuka, Coleman, Baker
before I can get my hands on them.
So if you're drafting with friends
and you know how your friends draft,
use that to your advantage.
This is a good example of that.
That being said,
I was still able to take players that I wanted.
I'd never felt like I was in a position
where I had to reach too far for somebody.
Maybe Chuba went a half round too soon,
but I really wanted to be sure
that I had a really good RB2.
and I'm totally fine waiting on quarterback until it's a fair value,
waiting on tight end until it's a fair value.
I don't know if Warren and the first pick of round eight is the fairest of values,
but I'm just very bullish on him.
And I love the depth that I have at running back.
I'm good with the depth at receiver.
I can always find other receivers.
I know I only have five guys and one of them might be useless by the time we get to week one.
But I feel strong.
I feel like this is a good competitive team.
I'm just wondering, at the three-fourth turn, you took Camara and Hubbard.
Do you give, and then Henderson was the next pick.
Did you give thought to Henderson or Harvey there just to say, all right, I'm going to take one veteran and one exciting rookie and see what happens?
No, because it's not like Chuba Hubbard is an older player either.
And he's coming off of a year where he averaged 16 PPR points per game.
And as much as I love Henderson and Harvey, I worry about those guys getting that high on a per game.
game average. All right. That is it for today's show. I want to thank everybody for watching and
listening. Again, YouTube.com slash fantasy football today if you want to see the results. But Jamie,
you're going to publish a story on this as well? Should be up by the end of the day.
Excellent. We'll see at 1 p.m. Eastern on CBS Sports Network for Dave, Jamie, and Thomas. I am Adam.
Have a great day. Talk to you soon.
Thank you.
