Starting point is 00:00:00 Now streaming. When people go missing, I get hired to help find them. When lives are on the line. Coulter, please find my daughter. He's the man for the job. I'm gonna do everything you can. Don't miss a moment. Coulter's in trouble, I can feel it.
Starting point is 00:00:13 Of TV's number one show. These people are dangerous. I'm doing this alone. Not at all. Every bad man gotta have their robin. Coulter! Justin Hartley stars. I made a promise.
Starting point is 00:00:22 I would never stop looking. In Tracker. All episodes now streaming on Paramount Plus and returning CBS Fall. This is fantasy football today from CBS Sports. What a play! Can you believe this? It's a no idea.
Starting point is 00:00:38 It's time to dominate your fantasy league. Off to the races and he stays on his feet. It's just going to go the distance. Now here's some combination of Adam, Dave, Jamie, and Heath. What's up, everyone? Do more Superflex, they say. Where's all your Superflex content, they say. We say live box draft right now.
Starting point is 00:01:00 Superflex PPR, three-wide receiver. Now, even if you don't play in a Superflex league, there is plenty to take away from today's draft. Okay, we're still going to talk about other players that don't play quarterback. I'm Adam Azer with Heath Cummings and Jamie Eisenberg. This is Fantasy Football today, presented by BetMGM, the sports book born in Vegas.
Starting point is 00:01:17 We're already nine picks into our Superflex league, the draft. I think we're going to have to catch you up in a little bit because we have to talk about the big news with Rishie Rice, with Quinn John Judkins, Isaiah Bond, also updates on Chris Godwin, Justin Jefferson, Matthew Stafford, A.J. Brown. So let's jump into that. No pleasantries.
Starting point is 00:01:34 Happy Friday, everybody. There's your pleasantry. Heath, Rishie Rice, his disciplinary hearing is expected to take place on September 30th. That would mean after the first four games of the season, which are the Chargers, Eagles, Giants and Ravens. That's pretty tough first four games for the Chiefs, but they should have Rishie Rice there. What are you making of all of this? There's so much to consider.
Starting point is 00:01:56 what advice can we give on Rishi Rice right now? That's exactly how I felt last night when I tweeted. I have no idea where to rank Rashi Rice or quench on Judkins. You're welcome. Here's how I'm viewing it, and this can be wrong. I'm viewing it as there could be a settlement between Rice and the league before week one. And if there is, I'm guessing it's going to be five or six games that he misses at the start of the season. It could be that there's a hearing on September 30th, and they quickly make a decision.
Starting point is 00:02:26 decision and he misses four to eight games there could be and dave highlighted this i think in his article that when deshawn watson was before judge robinson it's robinson right um she released her decision one month after the hearing in which case the fantasy playoffs are in danger he might play the first half of the season and not be there for the fantasy playoffs those are all possibilities so right now i'm drafting him in round seven because i'm kind of just throwing at the dart at the middle of that risk. So here's the two things that you got to sort of weigh with all of this. If he was missing the first four games,
Starting point is 00:03:04 we've sort of touched on this prior to yesterday's news. There's no bi-weeks. You know what your roster is. You would have been able to sort of manage it, and then you get this player coming back who could be amazing. Now we're dealing with the situation of you have him for the first four games. Once he's potentially suspended, whatever that is, week five, week eight, whatever the case may be, you're in biweek,
Starting point is 00:03:26 Hell, you're dealing with injuries at that point. You're trying to manage your roster. It's a much different scenario. So do you want to potentially get off to a great start with your fantasy team? And he's going to be a part of that in those first four games to some capacity, you know, whether he's a top 15 receiver, top 10, top 20, whatever the case may be, I think we'd all expect him to have some pretty good performances based on his track record. You may be 4 and O at that point.
Starting point is 00:03:49 Is that scenario more appealing to you? And then you sort of manage it the rest of the way if he's going to be out to whatever then he's out. And as Heath illustrated, it may not be week five. It may be week eight. It may be week 10. It won't be week 10. They're on the buy. But it may be the latter part of the season. So if you're going to sort of say, okay, I'd rather have the quick start and be a part of that. Because if it was the other way and it was four to six games at the beginning of the season, you may have been 0 and 4. And he may not have helped you at all. Well, let's also just remember, first of all, he's apparently having a very good camp,
Starting point is 00:04:22 is the number one receiver for the chief still. It was the number two wide receiver per game on pace for 164 targets in the three games that he played, which was without Marquis Brown, with Xavier Worthy, not really being much of a factor. But the last six games of 2023, he was the number eight wide receiver per game in full PPR. He was the number 12 wide receiver per game in non-PPR.
Starting point is 00:04:42 He was on pace for 159 targets. So obviously this is a big impact player. So guys going in round seven-ish would be maybe like Jalen Waddle, Calvin Ridley, Jerry Judy, that group. Is that where you're kind of at with Rishi Rice right now? So I have him in round six. I understand where he has him around seven. I think there's a wide range of potential places to put him in terms of where you're looking at it.
Starting point is 00:05:06 So I think that range of receivers makes a lot of sense. It's also the trickle down. What happens with Mahomes? What happens with Worthy and Markey's Brown and Travis Kelsey? like there are there's serious implications here as to what these guys could potentially do, you know, along with, you know, Rice being in or out, you know, so I think the one thing that that's, I don't know if it's obvious. I think there's going to be some suspension this year comparatively to maybe pushing it to next year. You know, there was some talk about that. You know, could this get delayed until next year because of this hearing? And then if there is an appeal, I would expect it to be at some point this season. Okay. How about Quinn Sean Judkins? Who's taken first for she? I do think. it's just quickly with rice like if you're looking to pair him with somebody the irony of all this like you could pair him with jordan addison you know yeah that's a good point that's a very good point all right so where's quinchon judkins heath that i don't know you get the easy ones today
Starting point is 00:06:08 yeah um i mean i'm probably i i'm doing a big rankings update this afternoon to try to like have a conviction about this because i know i'm supposed to i have a conviction about this because i know i'm supposed to. At this moment, I would lean towards right in the round seven range. I think we we don't. I'll be more confident when he signs his contract. I will be more confident if he's, and this doesn't help anybody in drafts, but maybe if we get to week one and he's not suspended yet, because you can still be suspended even without charges being pressed. And you can be suspended even for actions that happened before you were assigned to your contract. So that's still a possibility, although I don't think it's very likely. I also think he's not practiced. At what point does he actually start
Starting point is 00:06:55 practicing with the team? He's a rookie. Yeah. I would say, I would assume right now that he shows up for week one, he's behind Dylan Sampson at least, and maybe Jerome Ford. And then quickly overtakes those guys, but for as same as large of a role as he would have if he'd been there role of training camp. I'm less certain. So probably round seven also. Wow. So I'm actually surprised that you said, I thought it was going to be closer to like round 10 or something like that, just because you think about Josh Jacobs a few years ago just holding out, right, a veteran player holding on the terrible start he got off to. Jonathan Taylor held out. He also got injured. But he's going to really be behind the eight ball as a rookie who's not holding out,
Starting point is 00:07:37 but he's not even signed, right? It's basically the same. Not at camp, no preseason yet. So all that. So, okay, round seven for Heath. Jamie, how about you on Quinn Sean Judkins? In the same range. I think actually I have him like round eight or round nine right now, but similar range. You know, so I put him, I had Caleb Johnson at 30 and Brian Robinson Jr. at 31, and I put him right in between those guys, you know, just the kind of fallback.
Starting point is 00:08:04 Still upside. You know, Caleb Johnson, I think still has upside, obviously. And Brian Robinson a little bit, you know, concerning at this point. So right in that range of, of. players, I think you're going to see a three-headed backfield in the first month without question if he's able to play, and he's probably going to be third, and then works his way up. So I think the difference between Josh Jacobs and Quinshon Judkins, strictly from the
Starting point is 00:08:32 mispractice time, they had to throw Josh Jacobs on the field and play him. They can give Judkins a month of practice and minimal. work. Like his preseason will be September. Yeah. I'm drafting such a great Superflex team right now. I can't wait to get into that. All right. So those are the big news items. But also, there's Isaiah Bond, who is a wide receiver who was facing sexual assault allegation and did not get drafted. Pretty good prospect. And he said he's signing with the Browns. It hasn't happened yet. It might happen. is this like someone that we should go pick up and I don't even know if he's in our system right now
Starting point is 00:09:16 to pick up in dynasty because I was going to do it and couldn't but he's a talented guy and surprise you didn't just you know fix your commissioner power user commissioner power is just put him on your team in a dynasty league yes if you have a roster spot at him yeah and i and i just want to say i mean to cut you off there like i'm i know there's a lot of controversy about judkins and bond right now and the cleveland browns you know potentially having both of them Um, I'm just going to, you know, I'm just going to avoid that and just talk about it strictly from a fantasy football perspective, which we have to do a lot of times, unfortunately. Uh, you know, hopefully the allegations are not true. Obviously, you know what I'm trying to say. I'm not going to get into that. But just Isaiah Bond is a talented wide receiver would have been drafted if not for the allegations. If he's available in your dynasty league, yes, go pick him up. I'll run through the rest of the news and notes. Um, Scott Reynolds of the pewter report would be shocked if Chris Godwin doesn't start the season on the pup list. So we'll see where he goes in this draft, but are we taking a Buka ahead of Godwin now? Yes.
Starting point is 00:10:17 Are we taking Godwin ahead of Brandon Ayuk who's also expected to start on the Pup list? As of now, yes, if this does come to fruition that he's going to be on the Pup list, I would still rather have Godwin, but there will be – Iyuk's not in my top 60. So Godwin will probably be somewhere in the 50s. I don't think you could draft either one of them in the first 10 rounds, probably, I was trying to think of this the other day and somebody brought up Beckham was the best probably wide receiver and he wasn't actually
Starting point is 00:10:44 on Pup but at least missed the first four games of the year his rookie year. I was trying to think of who started the year on the Pup and was a good league winning pick and Jonathan Taylor was the closest suggestion I got but Jonathan Taylor also missed week 13 through 15 that year with an injury also and so probably didn't help people win championships.
Starting point is 00:11:03 We haven't had a lot of players that start the year on the Pup and then turn in great seasons afterwards. that's interesting um okay so a lot of them are coming off like torn ACLs and stuff like that I guess but uh Chris Godwin is not he's coming off a very serious fractured ankle I believe but uh was yeah and then a dislocated ankle and then a separate injury so all right godwin's dealing with issues Justin Jefferson is not ready to practice yet but he is making progress he went 11th in the draft we're doing now we're already in the middle of round four so we'll catch up on everything. But he was
Starting point is 00:11:37 the third wide receiver off the board. Chase went six, Lamb, 9th, and Jefferson 11th in this Superflex draft. Are you guys, where's Jefferson for you in your wide receiver rankings real quick? Third. Three.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Okay. Matthew Stafford is going to work out with the team on Saturday. Remember, he was supposed to practice on Monday. So that didn't happen. He's going to work out with the team on Saturday. He has an aggravated disc in his back. Puka Nakua was taken, I think, in the middle of the second round in this draft.
Starting point is 00:12:09 I just want to help me out there. Puka, where are you? 22nd overall to Thomas Schaefer. I took Nico Collins before him, Brian Thomas Jr. Jamie took Brian Thomas Jr. before Pooka Nekua. This is, I think, very much related to Matthew Stafford.
Starting point is 00:12:23 A.J. Brown, when did he get drafted? He got drafted 27th overall. So Thomas took Puka and A.J. Brown. AJ Brown is working through, oh, I'm on the clock. Working through some things according to his head coach, Nick Siriani. hamstring issue. Holy moly.
Starting point is 00:12:37 Jared Gough is still available? Yeah. Let's see what else. Who was that running back? I want to peek behind the curtain here. I'm on the clock with, we're in round four. I have Jamar Chase, Nico Collins,
Starting point is 00:12:54 and Kyler Murray in a Superflex league. Can I reset the clock? Is that okay? Sorry, I just did it. I mean, whatever Commissioner Adam wants, Commissioner Adam gets. All right, Jared Gough would be an easy pick, but I could also take Alvin,
Starting point is 00:13:05 Camara or why is this sort of sorry I could take I don't have a running back yet so I could take Kyron Williams
Starting point is 00:13:15 just completely blew my mind why I'm having trouble with the rankings right now I don't know why I thought we were drafting in different leagues for a second
Starting point is 00:13:24 we were doing the Superflex league right yes all right oh Kyron Williams is available oh Kyron or
Starting point is 00:13:34 golf which quarterbacks are available golf stafford toa stroud herbert all right i'm going to gamble i'm going to take kairn williams i'm going to gamble that in about 12 picks someone really good will be available to me like uh maybe like a trevor loy like i could even settle for a gino smith or or a bryce young or something i'll be fine all right take advantage i'm taking advantage of the quarterback depth in super flex leagues this year do i have any more news and notes to get through. Scott Baer of Marquis Sports Network says that Bear's receiver, Olamadez Echias, has been so good that he's keeping Luther
Starting point is 00:14:08 Burden on the second team. Meanwhile, the Bears' top two of their top cornerbacks, Jalen Johnson and Kyler Gordon, have hamstring injuries. They're questionable for week one, I'd say, at this point. Not out, but we'll see if they can come back. They got Minnesota in week one, then at Detroit, then Dallas. So not good matchups that be missing cornerbacks. And Sam LaPorte has got a minor injury. He's going to miss a little bit of time. Don't think that's a big deal.
Starting point is 00:14:31 If you haven't signed up for BetMGM yet, use the bonus code fantasy, and you're going to get up to a $1,500 first bet offer on your first wager with BetMGM. So here's how it works. Download the BetMGM app and sign up and use the bonus code fantasy, deposit at least $10 and place your first wager on any game, and you'll receive up to $1,500 in bonus bets if your bet loses. Just make sure you use the bonus code fantasy when you sign up. Okay, sorry we haven't talked about the draft. It was one of those days. We could not skip the news and notes, important stuff. So when we come back, we'll talk about the Superflex draft.
Starting point is 00:15:06 I have an FFT open update here and a draftathon update, the show, the actual show, when that's going to be. But we'll get into Superflex after this quick break on fantasy football today. Now streaming. When people go missing, I get hired to help find them. When lives are on the line. Coulter, please find my daughter. He's the man for the job.
Starting point is 00:15:27 I'm going to do everything you can. Don't miss a moment. Culture's in trouble. I can feel it. Of TV's number one show. These people are dangerous. I'm doing this alone. Not at all. Every bad man got to have their robin. Culture!
Starting point is 00:15:37 Justin Hartley stars. I made a promise. I would never stop looking. In Tracker. All episodes now streaming on Paramount Plus and returning CBS Fall. All right. Welcome back, everybody. Okay, so we are about four rounds into a 12 team. PPR.
Starting point is 00:15:54 We're actually five and a half rounds into, but you see the draft board here. We're finishing up four and a half rounds. Pardon me, finishing up round four in the draft that you're looking at. We're a little bit ahead of that. I'm on the clock again. Stafford, Tua, Strau, Stroud, Gino Smith, Bryce Young. I, at J.J. McCarthy, I'm going to wait another round. Ooh.
Starting point is 00:16:14 I got to look at the roster grid, though. Two quarterbacks, two quarterbacks, two quarterbacks. I think three more, I think only two or three more quarterbacks is going to be drafted by my next pick. Well, Dan and RJ have none. So. Okay. Don't help him out, Jamie.
Starting point is 00:16:31 Wait a second. No, I was wrong about some of the guys who were available. No, I got to take my second guy. I'm talking to his tennis coach in the middle of a tennis match. You have to help, the helpless. I'm going to take, no, some of the guys that I thought were on the available were not. So I had to go to a Tungle by Loa. That's my QB2.
Starting point is 00:16:47 All right. Jamie, do you want to pause the draft? Can we pause the draft? No. Just talk. I think you should pause it. But, all right, let's take a look at round one. The first five picks were the first five quarterbacks.
Starting point is 00:16:58 Jackson, Daniels, to Heath, Josh Allen, third, Joe Burrow, fourth, Jalen Hertz, fifth to Jamie. Then I took Jamar Chase. Then Patrick Mahomes went seventh. And then the next four picks were non-quarterbacks. Bejohn Robinson, C.D. Lamb, Christian McCaffrey, Justin Jefferson, Baker Mayfield. So you do get seven quarterbacks in the first round. The first five picks were quarterbacks. Then Chase, then Mahomes.
Starting point is 00:17:25 Bejohn Robinson, C.D. Lamb, Christian McCaffrey, Justin Jefferson. And then Jake at 1213 at the one-two turn took Baker Mayfield and Bo Nix. All right, Jamie, what do you think about how round one played out? I expect the first five quarterbacks to be in the first six or seven picks. So the fact that they went in the first five overall is not a surprise. You know, you could see a scenario where Chase or Robinson, you know, if somebody wants to put Berkeley there, I get it in the first, you know, seven, eight picks. But I think you're going to see the first five quarterbacks go quite early.
Starting point is 00:17:58 as they did here. And then it really becomes, at what point do you start to see QB6, QB7, QB8, and ADP is telling us that those three guys went. Mahomes at 7, Mayfield and Nix at the 1-2 turn. So that's really, I think, the toughest decision in Superflexes. When do you want to take Mahomes? When do you want to take Baker? When do you want to take Nix?
Starting point is 00:18:22 And for this draft, they went a little bit sooner, to be honest, than I expected. Yeah, Mahomes 7, Mayfx. field nix 1213 overall when you still had jameer gibbs sequin barclay malic neighbors devon h nico collins etc ashty on the board and it does give you a pretty significant advantage when this happens especially brock purdy going in round two if you do pick at the beginning part of the first round because then you get all this talent coming back to the other way so like you know you're in the sort of unenviable spot because of how played out and your players are awesome you know to get Jamar Chase and Nico Collins are first two picks. But, like, Heath and I got the opportunity
Starting point is 00:19:00 to get one of the top five quarterbacks and then still a stud as well. Like, it's a great place to be if you're in the first five or six picks, I think. Yeah. So Heath with the second pick has Jaden Daniels, Brock Bowers, Dak Prescott. So you actually are one of the more quarterback heavy teams. It's a three receiver league with a flex. It's full PPR. So for Heath to not have a single wide receiver until round five, Devante Adams with the second pick of round five. That's an interesting start for you. So you have Daniels, Bowers, Prescott, Ken Walker, Devante Adams. I'm going to tell you guys, I went back to the Superflex League. Now listen, you don't take three league, three years worth of one league and try to make it a generalization for the way Superflex is going to go. But I looked at the two
Starting point is 00:19:45 teams that made it to the finals in our Superflex league each of the last three years. And I'll tell you where they drafted their quarterbacks. Last year, Joel beat me in the finals. I drafted quarterbacks in rounds two, three, and seven. And my round seven pick was Baker Mayfield. That's why I made the finals. He drafted quarterbacks in rounds two and three. He only drafted two.
Starting point is 00:20:06 Twenty-twenty-three, Jack beat Marone. Morone drafted quarterbacks in rounds three, six, seven, and eight. He drafted Kenny Pickett in round three. And he still made the finals, taking Derrick Carr, C.J. Stroud, great pick, and Jimmy Garoppolo. Can he pick it in round three? Yeah, I know. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:24 That doesn't sound right. It's what I saw. Let's see what I. Jack had quarterbacks in rounds two and three. 2022, Marone was in the finals. He beat Dave by two points. Mine the clock. No, not yet.
Starting point is 00:20:40 Marone drafted quarterbacks in rounds two, three, and ten. Dave drafted quarterbacks in rounds one and three. He had an early pick. Not a lot of guys who made the finals had early. early picks, actually. Dave took Patrick Mahomes third, then he took Kelsey, then he took cousins that year. That was 2022. So if you notice the six finalists, only one of them took a quarterback in round one. A lot of rounds two and three, though. But we'd think this year is even deeper than ever. And by the way, not a single one of them took quarterbacks in rounds
Starting point is 00:21:12 one and two. But we think this year is deeper than it's been a long time at quarterback. So If you're looking at the draft board, you did have Team 12, Jake, take quarterbacks in rounds 1 and 2 at the 1-2 turn. No one else did that. He's took a quarterback in rounds 1 and 3, so did Marone. And that was it. So after three rounds in this Superflex league, only three teams had two quarterbacks? And it sounds like most of the teams, at least like four of six, had two quarterbacks after
Starting point is 00:21:47 three rounds that have made the finals. It was round two and three usually. I had no intention of taking a quarterback at the two, three turn. I had one quarterback in my queue after Patrick Mahomes went off the board. And that was Dak Prescott, who's the guy I have ranked right after Patrick Wilhom's. There were three quarterbacks drafted before I picked again, but none of them were Jack Prescott. So that's why I took a quarterback early in round three. And now here I am, I'm up in round six. And there's, I'm not going to take a quarterback because I have Kyler, Murray and Tua, but Anthony Richardson, Michael Pennix, Bryce Young, Cam Ward, Matthew Stafford, Gino Smith, Sam Darnold, they're all on the board. So you could just load up at other positions.
Starting point is 00:22:25 The only thing I will say is like there is, quarterback is deep. There's still a massive difference between a top five quarterback and the lower end QB ones. And I think there's still a pretty big difference between the low end number ones or high end number twos and the QB 22 through 30 range. Like, it's deep, but there's still tiers. So there's still value in getting some of these guys early. Of course. I love Superflex. One of the things I love about Superflex guys is that I don't think it really matters where you are in the draft.
Starting point is 00:22:57 You know, people, there's, I guess there's been some research done that having the first pick is really, having an early pick is very good in just a regular snake draft. I don't know if that's still true, but it was. I don't, do you have a preferred place to draft in a Superflex league? First five picks this year. I was going to say top three. Okay. I'm going to speed different and say, actually, not to say that I don't want an elite quarterback,
Starting point is 00:23:21 but I'd rather take Jamar Chase six than a top five quarterback. But we'll see. But I think that's just because... I mean, listen, your team is great. I like mine slightly better, how it worked out for me with the three receivers that I got in rounds two, three, and four. And they were Thomas, London, JSN. So let's go through it.
Starting point is 00:23:43 it here. With Jalen Hertz. Yeah, right. Yeah, Hertz, Thomas, London, J.S.N., Justin Herbert, and then Chuba Hubbard as your RB1. All right, so round two was Bo Nix, Jemir Gibbs, Sequin Barclay, Brock Purdy, Malik Neighbors, Devon, H.N. So let's talk about that Purdy pick, right?
Starting point is 00:24:01 Because Jacob is picking ninth. He takes Cid Lam in round one instead of, there are six quarterbacks off the board. So instead of Baker Mayfield or Knicks or whatever, he takes C.D. Lamb. And then in round two, he might be thinking, man, if I don't take a quarterback here. I might not love my quarterbacks. So he takes Purdy.
Starting point is 00:24:17 The next five, the next, geez, there's not a quarterback taken until round three after that. Yeah, I don't like the party pick at all. Right. That's what I was going to say. Like, don't take Purdy over neighbors, A. Chan, Nico. That's, that's kind of the point. Like, once the first five guys are gone, I think the only other quarterback that's most likely going to go, and I don't have ADP, maybe you could pull it up at him to Superflex ADP, is Mahomes is the only other one I can see going in round one. This is the only other
Starting point is 00:24:42 one that I would take in round one, and it would be at the back end around one. Like, I would rather take a player and then get Knicks, Mayfield or Knicks in round two, and then, you know, the sliding scale of, you know, Prescott and fields and whatnot, depending how you feel about these guys. And obviously, Jacob likes Purdy. I'm just, like, the way that it fell, he could have probably got Purdy in round three, or a guy that I know he loves is Drake May for just pushing everybody down. I mean, I'm, I don't have a ton of Superflex ADP. I'm seeing draft sharks. Superflex ADP has Purdy in round five
Starting point is 00:25:13 but really not a lot of quarterbacks going super early except the elite ones are in the first seven picks. It's funny Heathball while he's looking that up had Chuba gone I would have just messed with you a little bit I would have taken Swift. Yeah
Starting point is 00:25:29 I was I was just hope I mean I like Chuba more than Swift and Chuba keeps falling it seems like I think he went round five and one of our one of our one of our one QB mock the other day. I've taken him twice this week. So once it was the 10-team league, I believe.
Starting point is 00:25:45 And, no, no, it was the half-p-R league the other day. It's the second time I've drafted him, yeah. So I was, I mean, I'm thrilled with the way it's worked out, but just in the round six, where we were around six, knowing you were on the way back, like, I was going to see, like, if I had taken Swift, because I know you don't have a receipt, you have one receiver. Like, if I had taken Swift, what would you have done? And then would Connor have made it back to me? Because that was my two choices would have been.
Starting point is 00:26:09 If Hubbard was gone, would have been Conner and Swift. I would not have taken a running back at the turn here if Swift hadn't been there. So he was kind of the last of a tier for me. So it would have been wide receiver, wide receiver if you'd not done that. Maybe I should have since Devante Adams my number one wide receiver. But I figured I might as well stay on brand and take Swift and Judy. How do we feel about tight ends? Well, actually, we'll get to that when we talk about Bauer.
Starting point is 00:26:35 So, okay, round two is Knicks, Gibbs, Barkley, Purdy, neighbors, A-chan. Niko, Brian Thomas Jr., Genti, Pooka Nakua. I mean, just incredible names here. Then Heath, you took Brock Bowers, so I do want to talk about that pick. That was your second round pick. Amon Ross St. Brown and Derek Henry were still on the board. In fact, Robert Thomas, who has the first pick, went Lamar Jackson, and then Amon Ross St. Brown, Derek Henry.
Starting point is 00:26:57 That's really good. But you decided, like, how do you feel overall about your first three picks? Daniels, Bauer, Prescott. So no running backs, no wide receivers in a three-receiver PPR league, but Daniels Bowers, Prescott. about that and talk about tight end and how you value it in superflex. I don't change how I value tight in and superflex other than there's more quarterbacks ahead of them, but I don't deprioritize them because of the superflex.
Starting point is 00:27:22 I feel fantastic just because I've got my number one quarterback and my number seven quarterback and my number one tight end. So like, and it for me and how I value guys, and this is kind of, I think, important for people to look at is find out the. players that you're higher than most other people and what positions those guys play. And you can wait a little longer on those positions and prioritize elite players at other positions. Swift and Judy being the example.
Starting point is 00:27:52 They're both top 20 at their position for me. And they're going to be available in round six or seven. So I can find my number two at each of those positions a little bit later maybe than some people can if they don't like those guys as much. But no, I think Bowers is a borderline. round one pick in one QB leagues. And there were five, six, seven, eight, nine players taken, nine QBs taken. So that pushes him back to 23rd overall.
Starting point is 00:28:20 I love it. You drafted him essentially based on where the receivers are going off and the running backs, you know, in terms of Gentine Henry. You drafted in the exact same range you would draft him if it was the one QB. Yep. There's nobody that went behind him that I would take over him in one QB. And so, I mean, he was my best position player available and I wasn't taking a quarterback. Jamie, does your tight-end strategy change at all in Superflex?
Starting point is 00:28:42 Not really. I mean, had Bowers fallen to me where London was, it would have been a tough choice. I like London better, but I would have taken him. And certainly if McBride was there, if he had come back to me in round four, I would have taken him over JSN, but that's close also. But Kittle would have been, you know, where I took Herbert as well. So nothing really fell for me to the point where I would have taken one of those top three guys. And at this point, you know, once I get past those top three guys, then I'm just playing the board.
Starting point is 00:29:14 So I'm by far not going to reach for a tight end. And I'm just going to let sort of play itself out that way. Yeah, I mean, I've made the case on previous shows about Superflex kind of devalues every individual player because you just have, you know, 20-ish more fantasy points in your lineup every week because you're starting another quarterback. I think my tight-end strategy just does change not at the top, not with the top three guys necessarily, you know, a little bit. But, like, those guys can still be elite.
Starting point is 00:29:47 But I'd prefer, yeah, I'm not going to, at some point, I'm just going to just not care about tight end and just be totally fine with waiting until the end. I'm probably at that point now. We did that St. Jude Mock on Tuesday night. And the only reason I bring this up is because I just, did the recap, and I talked to some of the feature managers who paid extra to have their draft in the league. And the manager who picked 12th.
Starting point is 00:30:14 I don't know if you remember the draft at him, but it was Derek Henry and Nico Collins with their first two picks, and then J.S. Ed and Amari and Hampton with their next two picks. And it was just kind of like a very balanced roster all the way through. Their last pick went 13 rounds. Their last pick was their starting tight end, which was Dallas Goddard. Like, it's hard to argue with that. Like, once you get past, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:30:33 Njoku, really for me, Kelsey, Njoku, I'm sorry, I shouldn't say Kelle. Njoku, Kelsey Hockinson. So, tight end, seven. It's such a mixed bag of who can get you to that 10, 11 point range. They all could. And the group I'm talking about, the two rookies, Warren and Loveland, Tucker Kraft, Jake Ferguson, you want to put Don Kincah and Kyle Pitts in there, I get it. You know, like there's just a lot of mixing and matching that goes on with that group of tight ends.
Starting point is 00:31:02 Goddard can easily be a 10 point per game guy and you now loaded up your roster everywhere else and you kind of just figured out as the season goes on. Like, I don't hate that at all. Sure. And by the way, AJ Brown has a hamstring injury. I'm not sure if you mentioned that. Sorry, I was on the clock.
Starting point is 00:31:17 That would obviously boost Dallas Goddard. Yeah, I was on the clock in round eight and if you're looking at the board, you're seeing a real lull in quarterback drafting. Right? in the last three, two and a half rounds. We've had three quarterbacks go, basically. There's not very many left.
Starting point is 00:31:38 There are, no, but look, there's not, there are actually. I mean, there's Cam Ward, Matthew Stafford, Sam Darnel, Gino Smith, Aaron Rogers. Those are guys that you don't have to really worry about them losing their job. Then there's Russell Wilson and Joe Flacco and Daniel Jones, but there's five stars. I think, I think Gino is the only one of those that I feel like, yeah, he's probably going to produce like a QB2. Sam Darnold, you worry that he was just a creation of Kevin O'Connell and the Seahawks are bad and they see what Jalen Milro is. Matthew Stafford has a back injury.
Starting point is 00:32:08 Who would other guys? Aaron Rogers and Cam Ward. I don't, I would not be comfortable with these guys as my QB2. But right now is a good time to take your QB3. Michael Pennix just went. There's only one manager right now with one quarterback. Who? RJ.
Starting point is 00:32:27 RJ. Yeah. Yeah, he might regret that. And his quarterback is J.J. McCarthy. He's got, so he had the 11th pick. He's got Justin Jefferson, J.Mere Gibbs, Jonathan Taylor, George Kittle, Brees Hall, J.J. McCarthy, Calvin Ridley, and Jordan Addison. Kind of tough to have that build when you're missing one of your starters for three weeks,
Starting point is 00:32:47 and he's Justin Jefferson's teammate. So Jefferson, Gibbs, Taylor, Kittle, Brees Hall, McCarthy, Calvin Ridley, Jordan Addison. Who does? Thomas. does he it's a viking stack yeah got a viking stick can we get a gator on there so that he is going with a viking stack there of bicarthy jefferson and addison that's interesting all right um let's talk about round three round three was derrick henry dac prescott a j brown j jacobs drake london three straight quarterbacks kiler murray to me uh jamie took uh london and heath took prescott
Starting point is 00:33:24 in that round kiler murray to me justin fields drake may Bucky Irving, Trey McBride to Dan Schneier, who did not take a quarterback until round five when he took C.J. Stroud, and then he took Anthony Richardson as his QB2. You need to take Gino next if he's still there. Or does he take Daniel Jones? Yeah, but I don't think Gino's going to be there
Starting point is 00:33:46 by the time he makes that pick, by the way, because I am picking before him. Okay, so we're sorry. So it was Henry, Prescott, A.J. Brown. Jacobs, London, Kyler Murray, Justin Fields, Drake, May, Bucky Irving, Trey McBride, Jonathan Taylor, Ladd McConkey.
Starting point is 00:34:07 Chase Brown was the first pick of round four. We're going to round four. It's Chase Brown, George Kittle, T. Higgins. I love Superflex. This is so fun. Jordan Love, Caleb Williams. So Jacob, who took Brock Purdy in round two took Jordan Love and round four.
Starting point is 00:34:22 So actually, like, that's not a bad team, right? That's C.D. Lamb, even though we didn't love the Purdy pick. Lamb, Purdy, Buckie, Irving. And then Jordan Love, that's not a bad start. You could have two top 12 quarterbacks. Yeah. And then he has Omari and Hampton, Alvin Camara, after that. Sorry, I'm on the clock.
Starting point is 00:34:41 All right. So now I'm going to take my QB3. I had the seventh pick, Jamar Chase, Nico Collins, Kyler Murray, Kyrin Williams, Tuatunga, D.K. Metcalfe, Isaiah Pacheco, surprise, surprise. Joe Mixon, surprise, surprise, surprise. So I've got no tight end. I only have three receivers It's a three receiver league
Starting point is 00:34:59 Stafford or Gino Stafford or Gino or Darnold I'm going to take a chance on Stafford because I actually think he could be pretty good in this format It's six point per passing touchdown league So I went with Stafford as my QB3 So let me ask this because you made the commitment to Stafford
Starting point is 00:35:16 Will you make the commitment to Garoppolo with one of your last picks? Yeah I don't see why not I don't see I don't really know if anyone else is taking Garoppolo so RJ might Yeah they might But before I forget, one thing that's worked out well for me, I don't know if you guys ever do this, is drafting four quarterbacks with the intent of trading one.
Starting point is 00:35:35 Because you wait for an injury or two at quarterback. There's nothing on waivers, obviously, especially in a 12-team Superflex. It's six point per passing touchdown. I'm sure I just said that. But you load up at quarterback and when there's an injury, you can turn that quarterback into really good value, someone that you would not have been able to. get at the spot you picked that fourth quarterback i love that strategy in dynasty startups which i shouldn't tell you since we'll be doing a dynasty startup together starting next week but dynasty superflex startups yes um but and it it can work in redraft too i i'm not quite as fond of it in redraft
Starting point is 00:36:14 but because if the rest of your team like if you sacrifice a good starting lineup to do that maybe after the starter yeah oh yeah yeah after the starters you know um after at least most of your starters. It's a risky thing to do. Let's see, so, uh, um, who is some shade being thrown at me by Aaron Starr. Doesn't like any of my players after Pick 2.
Starting point is 00:36:39 This could be my avoid list. That would be, Kyler Murray. Uh, sorry, I'm waiting for my team to display here. Sam Darnold's the next week. Tyler Murray, Kyron Williams, Tua, Metcalf, Pacheco, Mix, and Stafford. Yeah, I mean, that's the thing I,
Starting point is 00:36:53 that it might be more important for you to look at builds, instead of players because you know you can always do the same build but with different players and just like a team more it's totally fine jerk uh all right i got to take a break here but before i do that real quick update on the ffti open if you're in an ffti open league the draft dates are set should be other than tom fornelly's league which is already drafting monday august 18th starting at 10 a.m eastern the timers are on from 10 a.m to 8 p.m. eastern with three hours between picks Please check your draft settings in your league. Starting point is 00:38:22 So is there anything you guys want to say? Because I've been a little overwhelmed today. No, I've been thinking with something I wanted to say since last night. Okay. I was really impressed with your game at the baseline. Thank you. I think you're like 90% of the way there to playing with Dan if you both stay back at the baseline. The problem was in the first set, when he came to the net, he dominated you.
Starting point is 00:38:47 And second, probably more importantly for you, because you can't change that about Dan. your game at the net, like you're putting in a lot of work at the baseline. You need to go stand at the net and have your coach hit tennis balls at you for two hours a day. You gave up probably seven points in that match on easy putaways that you just flubbed.
Starting point is 00:39:10 Yeah, it was a difference in the match in the second set for sure. And it's the next step for me is developing a net game, which is just so much harder than it looks. I wanted to say, did you go back and watch? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:21 I did. a little bit. I watched when Dan's brother was on. I watched when my brother was on. I'll watch a little bit more. I just wanted to say that. I really thought you guys, you two were awesome. That couldn't have been an easy thing to do for an hour and a half. I thought you guys did a great, genuinely, really did a great job. What I watched was really entertaining. My brother saying ESPN was very funny. It was so funny. I just, you know, you guys, you and Thomas, producing it. Claire Filpy for helping out too. Great job. I think people really enjoyed it, the ones who watched. I think they enjoyed it. I'm sorry. One more thing. And I don't know if
Starting point is 00:40:03 you can confirm or deny this. There was kind of a controversy in the chat. And I saw a couple blips of it in the chat today also. There are some people who think that you maybe got robbed on a couple of calls on the line that Dan may have called a couple of balls out that were in, especially when he was on the ropes. I saw that. Really on the ropes. Yep. There were some thought that. So I just didn't know if you wanted to make a comment on that. If you thought that all the calls were legitimate. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:30 Genuinely, I believe Dan called everything correctly. Or at least did his very best to call everything correctly. There was only one, maybe two, but one shot. It was a lob in the first set, I think, I thought was in. And he called out. Maybe he was in the second set. I don't know. But he would have a much better view of that than I would.
Starting point is 00:40:47 He even said there was a mark. So I think I'll squash that theory. think there's no nothing bad from dan there wow look at the giants fan taking jackson dart who took jackson dart i did oh look at you all right as you look at i i only have two quarterbacks and neither one of them have a buy until week 10 and i'm a pretty big fan of russell wilson and think he's going to do well but i have a hard time believing the giants are going to have more than two wins by week 10 so it might be jackson dart time uh all right so my so how many quarterbacks i talked about the whole four quarterback thing but how many quarterbacks do you want and
Starting point is 00:41:21 when do you get your QB3? I'll take a shot on, you know, the dart type of quarterbacks. I don't want to give away who I may be looking at. But, you know, like taking a shot on someone who has the chance to start at some point during the season as a fourth guy, in the case of what Heath is doing because of how the board has worked out, I get it taking him as your third guy. Once I saw Pennix get drafted by Thomas, I was like, I'm going to try and get my third quarterback here. if it would have been Cam Ward. I might have waited after that because the staff or Gino Darnal Group,
Starting point is 00:41:57 like I'd rather get somebody with upside and I think obviously Ward has that. So that's kind of where I played it. You know, so QB in round one, QB in round five, QB in round six, seven, eight, nine. You know, like that's kind of ideal if it could work out for you that way. Okay. Heath, any thoughts on how you want to get your QB3?
Starting point is 00:42:15 So for you, it was Daniels round one, Prescott, round three, and Jackson Dart. where are we round 10 11 it's heavily influenced by who my first two quarterbacks are and when I take them I'm not like I did take two quarterbacks in the first three rounds in this big I've had super flex drafts where like Dan I didn't take one until round five or six if I do that then I might take three quarterbacks within four rounds so if I don't like my starting quarterbacks I'm going to take that third one much earlier if I do like my starting quarterbacks I could go without taking one this seemed like a good opportunity um to take Jackson Dart and hope he's starting by week 10. Just a brutal pick of Keon Coleman there by Jamie right in front of me.
Starting point is 00:43:02 I feel like this is a, man, I need a wide receiver. I only have three in a three receiver league. They are good, Chase, Nico, and Metcalf. But, man, I think I'm going to go with, I'm going to go with, I'm going to go with my man dancing Rick.
Starting point is 00:43:19 I'm going to go with my man Christian Kirk who now I pair with Nico Collins which might be really stupid because I don't know that if Nico Collins gets hurt I don't know that Christian Kirk really has a huge jump in value so I might have been better off
Starting point is 00:43:36 taking Khalil Shakir there I've struggled from 12 to 13 points per year yeah maybe I struggle with Khalil Shakir like I maybe should have taken him there you know obviously if you weren't injured he'd be long gone
Starting point is 00:43:47 but I do like Kirk all right um i don't think going round by round is necessarily the best way to do this here we've talked a little bit i mean anybody wants to see the draft board they can come find us on youtube or they can read this story on cbosbors dot com yeah youtube dot com slash fantasy football today just watch this play out we've talked overall about strategy for super flex and i think the main takeaway is get those first five quarterbacks jamie and heath are all about them going really early
Starting point is 00:44:15 and then after that just see how the draft falls to you don't push shit. Just to go back to that, because you said you would have taken Chase in the first five rounds, like which quarterback's the cutoff for you? First five picks. So I honestly, in a three-receiver PPR league, I think I'm going to take Jamar Chase. All right. The way this plays out, I think I'd stick with it where he is at sixth.
Starting point is 00:44:45 I'm tempted to say I would take Jamar Chase first overall. and then make my next two picks quarterbacks. Because if I did that, the way this one shaked out, I could have had Jamar Chase, Kyler Murray, Justin Fields, or Kyler Murray, Deck Prescott, Kyler Murray, who else would I have taken there? Probably just those guys.
Starting point is 00:45:05 But that's probably not the best way to go. I just love quarterback so much this year. Let's say I had gone Jamar Chase, Amon Rae St. Brown, Derek Henry, with my first three picks. just looking at this draft board. And then I could have taken Trevor Lawrence and Justin Herbert. I'd go to war with that team.
Starting point is 00:45:28 It's very good. I truly believe there's no wrong answer in Superflex. It's my favorite thing about it. And I think the way you win is many different ways, but by getting like a steal at quarterback, you know, by getting... Or, yeah. I mean, if you... The other thing is, like, if you have Lamar Jackson last year
Starting point is 00:45:48 and Baker Mayfield. Yeah. Then you don't need the steel quarterback and you can get by with just decent starting players. No, but Baker Mayfield, like I made the finals last year
Starting point is 00:45:58 because I got Baker Mayfield in round seven. You know, and we think there are a lot of potential breakouts at the position. I just think it was interesting that five of the six teams that made it to the finals
Starting point is 00:46:10 in the last three years of our Superflex league, which is the same exact format as this, 12 teams, three wide receivers, full PPR, and a flex and a Superflex. did not take five of the six did not take a quarterback in round one and they were mostly
Starting point is 00:46:22 picking in the second half of the round and most of them went round two round three yes yeah yeah so it certainly would be risky to not do that to not take a quarter at least one in round two or three um all right what do you want to do you want to talk about jamie want to talk about your team here or heath you can go first heath you had the second pick so take us through your squad 12 teams So, yeah, I started off with Jaden Daniels, Brock Bowers, Dak Prescott, then took, man, I'm not good at reading those names, so I need to find my team here, Kenneth Walker, and then Devante Adams, and Adams is my number one wide receiver, which isn't great,
Starting point is 00:47:06 but Jamie's talked about how, you know, if Matthew Stafford and Devante Adams are healthy all year, he might be a top 12 wide receiver, so that might work out okay. My two favorite values at their respective positions probably, DeAndre Swift and Jerry Judy were our next two picks. And then at that point, something Jamie and I talked about on HQ yesterday, and this is kind of a non-superflex strategy thing, is I would much rather be drafting running backs
Starting point is 00:47:31 for the next however many picks we have left than wide receivers. So I went with wide receiver heavy for the next three rounds. And that's two more of my favorite value. This is the most Heath team. I maybe I've drafted all year. Cooper Cup and Debo Samuel. Then I took Luther Burden just to have a little bit of youth. an upside in that receiving core as well, followed by Jackson Dart.
Starting point is 00:47:50 So I've got five wide receivers now, Devante Adams, Jerry Judy, Cooper Cup, Debo, Samuel, Luther Burton. I've probably, in my view, got two number twos and two number threes, and that could be okay if you have two top seven quarterbacks and you're good at the other positions. Jamie just made a great pick. Mark Andrews, 140th overall. I mean, even if you take 20 quarterbacks off the board, Mark Andrews had 120th overall would probably be pretty good value. It was interesting to see the tight ends that went ahead of Mark Andrews.
Starting point is 00:48:25 I took Tyler Warren ahead of him, and even then I was like, should I have done that? I'm fine with it. But also just so many guys. Evan Ingram, Colston, Loveland, Kyle Pitts went ahead of Mark Andrews. John Smith. Tucker Kraft. Oh, John Smith, yeah. I don't think that was a great pick.
Starting point is 00:48:40 Craft even's amazing value. John Smith. Jake, different Jake, Jake, a team four. You shouldn't have taken John Smith. you already had Kelsey plus we don't really like Johnny Smith now that he's on Pittsburgh go ahead Heath I missed this so it was probably something we should talk about and maybe you guys
Starting point is 00:48:54 did and I just wasn't listening where did Rice and Judkins get taken what a miss on my Rice went one two three four five six seven eighth round so baking the super flex that's probably round six um eighth round
Starting point is 00:49:09 to Jake Grogans at the end at the end of the round picking 12 So he went back to back with Jalen Waddle and Rashi Rice. So Rice went ahead of Jordan Addison, Ricky Piersall, Joan Jennings, Matthew Golden, those group of receivers. And Judkins went, that was what, round eight, Judkins went in round 10. He went one pick after you. No, one pick before you in round 10.
Starting point is 00:49:35 He went just before, exactly where Jamie said, just before Brian Robinson. It went J.K. Dobbins, Tyrone Tracy, Quinshan Judkins, Brian Robinson at that position. Damn you, Heath. Who'd Heath take? Trey Benson. Trey Benson. Okay. So like I said, this is the after round 10 is where I'd like to just be drafting back up running backs.
Starting point is 00:49:59 I actually took one who might be a week one starter, Ramandre Stevenson, at the end of round 12, and then Trey Benson to start round 13. Okay, so Jamie, you want to talk about your team picking fifth with Jalen Hertz in round one? Yeah, I like it a lot. Hertz, and then the three receivers in a row of Brian Thomas, Drake, London, Jackson Smith, and the Jigba. And if you don't like Thomas ahead of Pooka Nakua or Amara of St. Brown, don't look at the player, look at the philosophy and the strategy. So you could take one of those top, you know, 10 receivers,
Starting point is 00:50:31 eight receivers in that range. I just prefer Thomas at this point over Nakua and St. Brown. Drake London, to me, is great picking round three. And then JSN, you know, those are three of my top 12 receivers. I've now put JSN at 12. So Herbert, I think, is an easy QB2 to target, especially beginning around five. And then I waited on running back and to come away with Chuba Hubbard, James Connor, and then what I felt was a little bit of a steal on Tyrone Tracy, thrilled with that trio,
Starting point is 00:50:57 took Cam Ward as the third quarterback. Crystal Lave could be my flex. You know, we'll see as a fourth receiver, have Keon Coleman as a fifth receiver, and then waiting on Mark Andrews. So I'm pretty happy with how this all worked out. Again, Jamie drafting from the fifth spot as Jalen Hertz in round one, Justin Herbert in round five. That's how he approached quarterback.
Starting point is 00:51:15 He'll be starting Hertz, Herbert, Brian Thomas Jr., Drake London, JSN, whammy. Chuba Hubbard and James Connor, Chris Olave, or Tyrone Tracy at Flex, and he is Cam Ward as his QB3. Jaden Blue just went. Okay, that makes my decision a little bit easier here. I have Giovante Williams,
Starting point is 00:51:36 so I was thinking about locking up the Cowboys backfield, but that stress is off my plate. So I'm going to go with Tai J. Spears, who I think has still a lot of appeal, even with the ankle injury. We have just a few rounds left, two and a half rounds left. And I'll tell you about my team
Starting point is 00:51:51 from the seventh spot, where the first five quarterbacks, six spot, six spot. First five quarterbacks were off the board, and I took Jamar Chase, and in the second round, got to just a dead zone at quarterback. At that point, there had been
Starting point is 00:52:07 six, seven, eight, nine quarterbacks off the board. And we went about eight picks without one being drafted. So Jamar Chase, Nico Collins, Kyler Murray, Kairn Williams, Tuatunga by Loa, D.K. Metcalfe, Isaiah Pacheco, Joe Mixon, Matthew Stafford is my QB3, Tyler Warren at tight end, Christian Kirk, Javante Williams, Tijey Spears. You know, our builds are not that different, Jamie. Like, we both have three, your receivers, I mean, your, your, your, your I bribes. receiver's three is better than mine, but, like, you went quarterbacks in rounds one and five.
Starting point is 00:52:46 I went quarterbacks in rounds three and five. You went running backs in rounds six and seven. I went four, seven, and eight. I don't know. It's not that different. Like, I have Chase Brown. I'm sorry, I have Jamar, Chase, Nico, and D.K. Metcalf. You have Brian Thomas, Jr., Drake, London, and JSN.
Starting point is 00:53:03 You have Hertz and Herbert. I have Kyler and Tua. And then my running backs because I have Kyron Williams. I have Kairn, Pacheco, and Mixin, you have Hubbard, Connor, and Tracy. I don't know, pretty similar teams. I have Tyler Warren, you have Mark Andrews. Do you feel like kind of the same thing here? Yeah, I mean, we took a little bit of a different approach,
Starting point is 00:53:21 but ended up with a similar, you know, build. I think the difference would be is, you know, how much of an advantage does Chase and Nico and Metcalf give you over Thomas, London, and JSN? And because in theory, Jalen Hertz should be better than Kyler. And I would take Herbert over to us. So I like my quarterbacks. And I actually have award ranked ahead of Stafford.
Starting point is 00:53:45 So, you know, I like my quarterbacks better than yours. Tight end, I think, is obviously up for debate. I do like Warren better. But, you know, obviously we'll see how that plays out. But, you know, the fact that we're back to back, I would, I like my build better than yours. My players better than yours, but the builds are the same. I mean, the difference, like, your combination of quarterbacks and wide receivers is better than mine.
Starting point is 00:54:10 The difference is... I don't know about that receivers, because you have two of my top four guys. And Metcalf is not far from where JSA is. No, I like my receivers. I like my Chase, Nico Metcalf better than your Brian Thomas Jr., London, JSN. But you throw the quarterbacks in there, Hertz and Herbert for you, Kyler, and Tua for me. I think your combination of receivers and quarterbacks is better.
Starting point is 00:54:32 What I need to beat you is Kyrin Williams as my RB1 to be really good because I have Kyron, Pacheco, and Mixon. You have Hubbard, Connor, and Tracy. I think it's more your RB2 needs to be better. Either way. If your belief in Pacheco and Mixon comes to fruition, that's an amazing trio you have. Yeah, I was happy with it. I mean, I don't think I reached for them.
Starting point is 00:54:56 They were pretty much next up in the rankings for you guys or close to it. All right, so Heath's team is just completely different than ours. I am, that's really strange. That doesn't sound right of it. Well, it's a more, I guess I would expect you to be more receiver heavy most of the time, like earlier. You know, I wouldn't expect you to have receivers in rounds five, seven, eight, nine, ten. But you pivoted, but you took your guys. You took Judy Cup, Debo, and Burden in round seven through ten, Devante Adams as your number one receiver in round five.
Starting point is 00:55:29 nothing wrong with it I just wonder you didn't you didn't set out to be kind of weaker at receiver just fell that way yeah I think I probably made that decision when I took Brock Powers because I knew if that came back to me I was going to take him and
Starting point is 00:55:46 I would rather have Ken Walker than like if I had taken a wide receiver where I took Ken Walker it would have been Devante Adams right right all right any uh final thoughts lessons learned no again i i think you're you're really on an advantage if you have one of the first five or six overall picks okay kind of rhymed there too i don't think i have any more uh tennis feedback
Starting point is 00:56:16 for you i've been trying to uh to come up with some but i think i've given all of my coaching that i can um guys and i can't i was i could have won that match yeah go ahead he was out of the the the emotion that i think we were feeling watching it and your comeback and you know listen dan did a great job i know you were focused on the time and and kind of the where you were on the side of the court like dan did a better job than you did of coming over and talking to us and kind of giving his his thoughts on what was happening you could just tell he was gassed he was saying it but like he couldn't move as well like the fact that he was able to summon what he did to get that point on his serve because not only was he struggling like
Starting point is 00:57:03 your brother made the comment your legs are the first thing to go on your serve when you're tired your serve is going to struggle because your legs are bad and the fact that he got that point I think was kind of nail the coffin for you and I know you said you could have won it you still could have forced a tiebreaker like had you broken him there it was done done The real key is because I do not think you could have even reasonably competed in the first set. Dan said he was going to improve his cardio. And if he does that, I don't really like your chances at all next year. But knowing what I know about now being 46 years old,
Starting point is 00:57:43 I think the chances are much greater that Dan's cardio is going to get worse than better in the next 12 months. He's young. And I say that just because when he was able to run. to the net and get back to the lob, I don't think you really had much. No, so I disagree with your take here because I think that, you know, you saw Dan get really tired and you blame it on his cardio, which I understand.
Starting point is 00:58:06 But part of that was me. Part of that was I was hitting the ball a lot harder in the second set. And when you're playing someone who's hitting it harder, you exert more energy and getting it back. Also, if he's going to keep coming to the net all the time and I'm going to hit some successful lobs, that is going to wear him out. Like, his strength is coming to the net,
Starting point is 00:58:21 but it also weakens him a little bit because it does make him tired. It's easier to just sit back and hit groundstrokes. So it was partially me that was wearing him out too because once I started playing better, we had longer games. The first set, the games were so short. He was gassed in for the first set. No, he was gassed in between the first and second set. No, I don't agree with that.
Starting point is 00:58:41 I think he got gassed early in the second set when I started competing. He lost the first game of the set. And I mean, I take some credit for tiring him out. And also, again, if he's going to be played so aggressively coming into net, it's going to, obviously, he's going to need his legs for that. I agree with that. I think there's, part of it was clearly the environment. You know, he was hot in the gym, in the, you know, what do you call it?
Starting point is 00:59:08 Confirm or deny that you had them turn the heat up. I think it was only, oh, did I miss a pick? I'm sorry. I think it was only next, here we go. It was only like 80-something degrees in there. But playing indoors like that is, it's brutal. It's absolutely brutal. No, I didn't have them turn the heat up.
Starting point is 00:59:26 So let me make my last pick. I was really disappointed in the first set. I mean, I'm so much, I can't believe how poorly I played. And I never felt like, sometimes I play a match, and I'm just like, I can't compete with this guy. I never felt like he was doing anything that I couldn't compete with. You know, I just, my lobs were horrible, horrible. and he was getting some easy points at the net.
Starting point is 00:59:49 And my passing shots were bad, too. I don't know. I have so many emotions. We'll talk about it on the mailbag with Dan, but so many thoughts. You seem tentative early. I was. And I don't know why, because I warmed up great. In fact, I warmed up so well, he was like, whoa, this is going to be a challenge,
Starting point is 01:00:02 because I was hitting the ball a lot better than I did last year. Sorry, who the hell should I take here? Let's just take Dalton Kincaid. Yeah, I look forward to talking about it with Dan. You guys have got to see what we had for dinner, especially what he had for dinner. I mean, last year he had a sandwich that was like a chicken parm with vodka sauce and a fried ravioli on garlic bread.
Starting point is 01:00:28 This year, he went even fatter. It was even less healthy or more unhealthy. He burned a lot of calories. He meant to quit. No, he earned it. He earned it. And wait till you see what he ate. I tried to tweet it last night, but I was screwing it up.
Starting point is 01:00:45 But we'll talk about it on the mailbag show. Your brother was great. Thank you. He loves you. He said he had, yeah, yeah, we were very close. He said he had a lot of fun doing it. He said he loved talking to you guys. It was fun.
Starting point is 01:01:01 You know, I didn't like want to bring up too much, obviously, of his TV history and not to make him uncomfortable, not that he was ashamed talking about it by any stretch. But like, I don't want to make that like a focal point. And I thought Dan's brother was great, too. like you know he was uh he was funny he said something about 6060 and i was listening to it at the restaurant with dan and i was like oh screw you matt schneier or whatever the comments i don't know how much you like we're watching the playback in the comments like oh the cooler schneider's here oh man um all right guys uh that's it for the super flex if you did if yeah
