Saturday night bonus pod talking fantasy football here Adam Azer and Jamie Eisenberg. I know you got
a lot of questions we figured might as well just do this podcast hopefully we'll help you give you
some good advice fingers crossed there's a lot of question marks out there right now Jamie let's go
situation by situation first of all if you don't have a commissioner who's nice enough to let you
substitute Steelers and Ravens if the game gets canceled. Do you just basically have to sit everybody
or do you think they're going to play that game?
I think they're going to play that game,
but obviously there's positive cases popping up
with the Steelers today,
obviously James Conner being the big one.
So if they get more positive cases,
the game could obviously be in jeopardy.
But we've seen
what the NFL has done so far. They've tried to push through as much as they can. And so if they
have enough healthy bodies on both, I mean, you know, we're going to talk about the Broncos
situation. They're going to let Denver play. I would imagine they're going to play this game
on Tuesday. I hope so. Yeah. I mean, I hope we get that game in. It's going to be Tuesday night
as of now. OK, so let's talk about that Raven Steelers game because, yes, picking up Benny Snell
was a very good idea. Anthony McFarlane
might not be a terrible idea also because
Connor's going to miss two games, right?
I think
so.
10 days? Obviously, it's clearly
not defined yet, but the fact that
they play five days after
playing Tuesday,
I don't think he's going to be able to play against Washington in week 13.
Okay.
So rank the running backs in that game now.
Snell, Edwards, McFarland, Justice Hill.
Even though a little JLC tip about Justice Hill.
Yeah.
I just think
there's a clear indication
of what the Ravens have done
with Gus Edwards.
You know, I mean,
in two games without Mark Ingram,
he's had double-digit carries.
So, I mean, maybe Justice Hill
has a good opportunity here,
but I'm not going to start him.
If I told you that
Juju Smith-Schuster was going
to have one catch for eight yards,
would you start him over Jerry Judy
tomorrow?
Yes.
Okay, let's talk about the Broncos.
Who's playing quarterback for the Broncos?
Obviously,
we're
pretty upfront with our our audience
our listeners i mean you know you and i were texting um we both commissioned leagues you know
i i stole your commissioner message because i thought it was very eloquent and perfect and oh
thank you uh well said so i i i took your one commissioner message and i used it for all 10
of my i noticed i didn't read it i didn't bother reading it i knew it by heart uh i changed i changed one thing i added the dst note in there um in any event uh so you and i are
texting and i'm in the middle of updating my rankings as i say hey do you want a podcast
and so i got through the reason that i was probably a minute late while you're waiting
for me was i wanted to finish my non-ppr rankings so those are done, but I had to pull all the Broncos receivers out of my,
my rank list.
And I'll tell you what,
I had a,
a feeling this morning that all of my Noah,
Noah,
thank you.
Comments on Noah fan.
We're going to come back to bite me.
That was going to get a bunch of tweets saying,
Noah,
thank you.
We still started.
No offense.
I mean,
you can't start any for the Broncos right now
except for Kendall Hinton.
You know, I'm a little...
I'm kind of thinking maybe a boost for Melvin Gordon,
maybe Phillip Lindsey.
They're obviously just going to run the ball.
If they were playing anybody else.
What'd you say?
If they were playing anybody else.
Yeah, okay.
All right, so Kendall Hinton is going to play quarterback?
Is that the situation now?
That's the indication.
So it was very funny because, and I saw your tweet.
There are people, obviously, who like first-come, first-served waivers,
and there are people that clearly hate it.
Oh, my gosh.
People killed me for my tweet.
I'm sorry, go ahead.
People killed me for my tweet.
They were, like, really mean about it.
Well, you're not the only person.
There's some other fantasy analysts tweeting the same thing.
But I think for people that do have the opportunity
to use first come, first serve,
I must have made like 50 transactions today.
And in a span of about 10 minutes,
I picked up Royce Freeman, dropped Royce Freeman,
picked up Kendall Hilton,
and I think he's going to be good.
I don't know. Do you? So Kendall Hilton's going to be good. I don't know.
Do you?
So Kendall Hinton is going to play quarterback for the Broncos.
He is a wide receiver.
We don't know.
I mean, we don't know how much quarterback he's going to play.
There was talk that Royce Freeman was going to just like wild rumors,
I guess, that he was just going to wildcat it.
So people picked him up.
Then they picked up Hinton.
So where did you rank Kendall Hinton among wide receivers?
25. Wow.
Really? He's a quarterback.
We just saw what Taysom Hill was as a tight end.
I know, but I felt more
comfortable about Taysom Hill playing quarterback
than staying as
the quarterback. A thousand percent.
I really don't know what to do with this.
It's one of those things where
if he attempts 15 to 20 passes, right?
And he's going to run because he's a running quarterback.
He ran at Wake Forest.
So if you get 30 to 50 yards rushing,
which I don't think is crazy,
if you get 150 yards passing,
I don't think that's crazy if he's allowed to throw.
Yeah, I'm thinking he's going to score single-digit points.
And he's not going to have any catches, you wouldn't think,
so that's going to hurt him in PPR.
Well, if they were on the Wildcat and he's on the field.
They would probably just run it with him, I would think.
Well, they could run it with Freeman.
This is wild.
So you're starting over, like, Antonio Brown?
I would. Okay. Wow, this is wild. So you're starting over like Antonio Brown? I would.
Okay.
Wow, this is so tough.
I mean, again, if he's a quarterback,
you saw what Taysom Hill could be at another position.
But he doesn't really play quarterback.
It's so gimmicky.
And he hasn't practiced.
He doesn't practice at all.
We have no idea.
I mean, they could say,
look, obviously if they try to run a wildcat offense,
if they try to do something crazy,
they have to throw the ball at some point during the game.
They have to.
We got it.
I mean, I'm sure I'll find out more about this,
but I don't understand why they were given the option to forfeit.
They said all four Broncos quarterbacks are not playing
and the Broncos are not going to forfeit.
Why can't they just postpone the game?
I don't understand what is going on here.
So when, though?
Add another week, dude.
They should add three weeks.
They should push the season back
if they have to.
Let these games get played.
Let us do it safely.
I mean, this is,
I don't know.
This seems a little wacky to me,
but I digress.
That's a topic for another day.
All right, so that's the Broncos.
That's the Steelers.
The Colts.
What are you doing about
Jonathan Taylor? He's out. Who's the best running. The Colts. What are you doing about Jonathan Taylor?
He's out.
Who's the best running back there?
You have to go to Naheem Hines.
At least that's the way I would approach it.
And then Jordan Wilkins is more of a flex.
But, I mean, you kind of see what...
Naheem Hines is a borderline starter.
Jordan Wilkins is more of a flex.
Obviously, Hines feels a little bit safer in PPR.
The nice thing is,
is you saw these two teams play two weeks ago,
and Naheem Hines was the star.
So I'd be shocked if they go completely away from what worked for them
a couple weeks ago.
The only thing would be is if they want to put Wilkins into Taylor's role
after what Taylor did last week.
But both guys are going to play.
To what degree they succeed, I don't know.
I would guess that Wilkins has the better chance to score,
so he's better in non-PPR than PPR.
Hines will be on the field for all their passing down situations.
So I'd lean toward Hines just based on what we've seen from him recently.
Would you start Hines or Hinton at flex?
Hines.
Would you start Wilkins or Hinton at flex?
I'd start Hinton in PPR.
Would you start Hinton or Benny Snell?
I'd start Benny Snell.
Okay.
And Austin Eckler is going to play, Jamie.
So where does he, you know, he's expected to play.
Where is he going to be ranked?
The nice thing is, is obviously they're a West Coast team.
They're playing at 1 o'clock Eastern tomorrow because they're in Buffalo.
So you're going to know if he's active.
Just because he's off IR does not mean he's going to be active.
That's still something that we have to wait to find out.
But if he is active, then I think you've got to assume that he's going to play 60 of the snaps 65 of the snaps maybe more is he better than everyone
we've spoken about i have him right now ranked ahead of those guys uh so you know if they're
going to play him and he's going to be active i think you just take the risk of that he's going
to be out there doing what he typically does so you, you know, clearly, again, better in PPR than non-PPR, but
this backfield has been very successful
the last three weeks with Kalen Balazs.
And so, the Bills
run defense, we know without Matt Milano there, they're a different team.
I think it's going to be a good opportunity for
Eckler if he's Eckler to
produce at a high level.
Alright, and that's going to do it for this
little emergency show. I tweeted,
we were referencing this.
This is one of the craziest days I can remember in fantasy football.
It makes me wonder if every league should have nightly waivers slash fab
instead of first come first served at drops, excluding Sunday.
It doesn't seem fair that the person who gets the push notification
has the edge.
And so a lot of people really, I did get some support, but stop crying.
Get push notifications.
This is funny.
My grandpa and his Blackberry agree with you.
I have, I mean, I get the notifications, but I just don't think it's fair.
I have Taysom Hill in like four leagues because I got the notification.
And I don't know if that's the right thing.
I don't know if that's fair. I mean, Iom Hill in like four leagues because I got the notification and I don't know if that's the right thing. I don't know if that's fair.
I mean,
I'm trying to be fair here,
not,
not the only one complaining about it.
And I understand,
you know,
look,
it's this all happened on a Saturday,
you know,
for us that we do this,
that's really our day to detox,
you know,
from,
from work for a minute.
Yeah,
I know.
Right.
As by the way,
somebody tweeted,
who did JB Eisenberg take from you this time?
Leighton Van Der Esch has been great, by the way.
Pretty good.
I was outside doing stuff with my kids,
and I see the tweets and texts from our colleagues.
Hey, we've got to pull this guy out of rankings,
that guy out of rankings.
By the way, there's one more scenario
we should talk about quickly.
But it's just the nature of how your league is set up.
If you don't like it, you know, make a formal complaint
and see if the commissioner will change it next year.
What's the other scenario?
Oh, yeah.
It's doubtful.
So, hello, Ryan Fitzpatrick.
He's the top 12 quarterback for me this week.
Oh, nice.
Demonte Parker. I think I said this on either Friday show or our mailbag show
that he's a top 15 wide receiver.
So and Mike is hecky is somebody I think that's in play as well.
So I think those guys get a boost and Fitzpatrick obviously gets a boost.
And then for the dolphins running back situation,
we have no idea what's going to happen there because Savan Ahmed has been ruled out.
I think we said that on Saturday show.
But Matt Breida, Patrick Laird, Malcolm Perry,
and I think they still haven't decided fully yet, right,
if Myles Gaskin is out.
No, they haven't.
They haven't made the call as far as I know.
I think they would have to activate him though, right?
Yes, they would have to activate him, but they could.
So he's still technically on IR.
So my guess is there's no Myles Gaskin.
So Matt Breida would be the one I think you look for.
So if you couldn't get all these guys,
Snell, Wilkins, Brian Hill, we can talk about that.
Oh, not playing Sunday.
I'm sorry.
Myles Gaskin not playing Sunday.
Gotcha.
All right.
So yeah, Matt Breida would be the one I think you look at.
Great.
All right.
Hey, this is the week of Frank Gore
and not Sabajay Piran anymore,
but Matt Breida.
Matt Breida's a solid player.
Well, no, Diomari Bernard has still not been cleared.
That's true.
There was optimism, but we'll see about that.
But Matt Breida's a solid player.
I mean, that's really not a bad call
and somebody that I'm probably going to be looking at right now.
All right.
Thanks, everybody. Thanks for listening. Welcome to the leagues. Let me go look first. I'm just so over it. I'm probably going to be looking at right now. Alright, thanks everybody. Thanks for listening.
I'm just so
over it. I'm over it. I'm frustrated.
This is really frustrating.
We didn't talk about Brian Hill though, did we?
Damn it, we didn't talk about Brian Hill. Where is he with all these
guys? He is behind
Snell, behind Hines.
For this week, I would put him
ahead of Jordan Wilkins, but
it's going to be interesting to see how they use him.
He wasn't great last year.
Remember he started...
No, he wasn't at all.
20 carries for 61 yards and caught a 10-yard touchdown in the first game.
I forget the opponent.
The second game, I think he had 15 carries for 30 yards,
so he was not great at all.
But the Falcons scored touchdowns.
What about Dottie Hinson or Brian Hill?
I would actually go with Hinton in PPR for sure and probably non-PPR.
You know, again, it's a risk.
Hinton is a complete wild card, absolutely complete wild card.
So I apologize in advance if you guys get burned and you listen to me.
But anytime you get a non-quarterback playing quarterback,
you got to take advantage of that.
Yeah, well, you can't on ESPN, by the way.
He's on waivers until Thursday, and he's only quarterback eligible, I believe.
Oh, my God.
Well, that's what my friend texted me. He asked me who to start.'s only quarterback eligible, I believe. Oh, my God. That's what my friend texted me.
He asked me who to start.
I said Hinton, I think.
I know.
We tried to pick him up.
The first place actually I saw it was Scott Fish of Scott Fishbowl,
a friend of the program.
He said he was promoting us. He said, oh, CBS hasn't listed us as a wide receiver, so we'll pick him up.
Thank you, Scott Fish.
Thanks for listening, everybody.
I'm going to go back to cooking dinner.
Enjoy your Saturday night.
We'll give you another update Sunday morning on Fantasy Football Today in 5.
